Ngl, after Blades 2 was all about the balance between Light and Shadow, book 3 didn't feature much of it. Feels like Nia's Shadow was nonexistent in the story despite them making it a focal point of b2, and Aerin using Shadow magic wasn't as big a deal as I feel it should have been, given his history, plus MC barely used Shadow magic, so I feel like that theme sort of faded into the background in the last book.

Note
currently was in the middle of writing like the longest explanation of why i think a character was plural and then i remembered that this is a tumblr ask,, SO
how long of asks are you comfortable with before it'd be better to just,,write a post and @ it to you,,,
[not a rating]
as long as humanly possible !!
the more information and 'support' you provide the more we will agree with your stance and overall opinion, it doesnt take much convincing haha <//3
we've gotten very VERY longwinded asks before and we absolutely adore and Heavily encourage them; especially on things we know nothing about ! gives us the full insight we need to properly rate if a character is plural or not

I'm a big fan of the way that Gabriel Urbina often includes details within the Wolf 359 scripts that can't be directly translated into audio, for example: the "tears silently streaming down [Minkowski's] face" in Ep31 Securité; Eiffel being "wrapped up in a blanket" when telling Lovelace about his traumatic experience of feeling like he was turning into Minkowski in Ep32 Controlled Demolition; the way "Hera and Eiffel stand together, his arm around her shoulder" when confronting Pryce in the finale; the idea that Eiffel "salutes" Minkowski after his speech to her before the memory wipe... These details make reading the scripts an even more rewarding experience.
But I do think there's an interesting question here about to what extent these details are canon. After all, when changes have been made in the dialogue between the script and the final recording, I only consider the dialogue that actually ended up in the episode to be canon, although the version in the script might still provide interesting insights. But with details in the scripts that are inherently not audible - and therefore never intended to be literally included in the episode itself - should we consider them to be canon, or bonus content, or Word of God, or simply a tool used in the recording process?Ā
I know that it is possible to have an entirely full experience of the show without ever reading a single bit of the scripts. The scripts are placed in the 'Extras' area of the show website.Ā
Obviously the primary purpose of the non-auditory script details is to inform the actors in their performances, and perhaps provide some considerations for sound design. When I read the scripts, I can often feel how the non-auditory script directions are reflected in the feel of the voice acting.Ā
But once I've noticed these script directions, I also can't help having them feed into my experience of the scene when listening, in a way that enriches the experience beyond purely the audio, and informs my understanding of these moments. The script directions tell us more about what the writer was envisioning for a scene.
I love sharing the script directions that feel significant to me, and when I do so, I feel like I'm sharing something more significant than a behind-the-scenes tidbit. I feel like I'm sharing further knowledge of what happened in that scene. The script directions feel like a true part of the show to me, more so than the comments the writers and actors have made in Q&As. To me, these non-auditory bits of the scripts feel like canon, but a slightly lesser form of canon than the episodes themselves. But I don't know if I can fully justify this view. I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts.

Is that "I want to make a new Judaism without Israel" person even Jewish at all? I looked through their blog; it's been around for over a year but if you search any Jewish-related tag they use there's not a single post before 7/10. I don't want to accuse, Jews come in all varieties (even shanden), but come on... better to be a goysiche antisemite than such an embarrassment, right? Anyway this is just to say thanks for always dealing with these people so the rest of us don't have to, it's a huge service to the community.
I don't think it's appropriate to speculate about people's Jewish identity when we don't have anything concrete saying if they are or aren't. I don't know anything about them and I'm not really interested in spending time to look, but their views are not unique. I'm aware of only one real-life Jewish community that has tried to completely remove Israel from all of their services and holidays but it's extremely small, like ten people. So I mean there are Jews out there who have made it their mission to do that, it's just small and most Jews are very against them.

i do not know how popular that idea is but when i played ln 2 i was troughoutly dissapointed by the lack of true dlc content, considering the cast of alreay made characters and the story, a parralel story meaning to deepening the overall pale city and its world would have been wonderful. This doesnt change the quality of the game it is still very much a 12/10 but i think a dlc would have truly made the game even greater

#is it weird to feel like. second hand bitterness abt the fans of a game franchise i dont even watch/play#like ive seen so many comments abt silksong (not all of which were jokes) never coming out and it always felt so mean spirited to me??#like no shit it took a while its 1) an indie game 2) an indie game with very pretty animation 3) following up a Huge Indie Darling#not even getting into the fucking scare that was that bullshit unity tried to pull which undoubtedly shook production#LIKE. SORRY YALL BUT GOOD GAMES TAKE TIME TO MAKE ESP IF ANIMATION IS SUCH AN IMPORTANT FACTOR#ppl acting like silksong is the modern version of hl3 or whatever when 6 years is. honestly pretty good dev time these days???#like even mainstream games with big teams take just as long so a big indie game coming out in that time frame is wild imo#and if you want it faster its going to either be bc of 1) Crunch 2) a bigger team with less creative control or 3) much smaller scope#i wont pretend the devs shouldnt have maybe waited until later in development to announce it#but thats something everyone in the game industry does; kh3 comes to my mind as a more mainstream example#idk man it just bugs me that ppl love to be all 'we want worse media that takes longer to make' until its an indie hit#and now that it has a proper release window ppl are acting like they knew itd be fine all along#listen man im a fan of valve games and kindom hearts ok you wanna talk abt waiting for sequels then get on my fucking level

There is a fine line between wanting Black female characters to be shown in a soft, romantic, glamorous light, and implying that Black women who are poor, Black women who have suffered, and Black women who don’t live traditional lives don’t deserve representation at all.

this fandom is annoying as hell (and sometimes i get the vibe that it's people's first ever fandom?? from how discourteous they are) but can you imagine if this was an ongoing, 3+ season 100+ ep series? people would be fucking insufferable

There’s just something extremely touching about watching Izutsumi work through a wide range of emotions when she sees Marcille cry for the first time.
She’s sleeping on Marcille’s lap when it happens—something she hadn’t willingly done since her human consciousness was subdued in the Golden Country.
Tumblr media
Izutsumi was initially very embarrassed when she remembered showing Marcille such unbridled affection when her monster (cat) side had full control in Melini. But now, shortly after, she did it again without any fuss, seemingly over this embarrassment.
But when she notices Marcille crying—not crying expressive tears over a situation with low stakes, but tears of real sorrow and loss—Izutsumi physically recoils.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She reacts with the childlike fear and panic that one feels when someone they heavily rely on and trust (like a parent or teacher) shows vulnerability, doubt, or weakness. She lashes out, trying to use words of reproach to get Marcille to stop crying. Or, in childlike terms, to try to force Marcille’s pain go away.
When that doesn’t work, we see her physically struggle as she tries to sit by and wait it out. But Izutsumi can’t do it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Marcille’s pain causes her so much intense distress that Izutsumi immediately offers physical affection as a response—something she has not done for anyone up to this point.
Tumblr media
When Senshi told the party about his traumatic backstory, Izutsumi did not touch him. She did support him, tried to offer words of comfort, but she did not embrace him like the others did. Maybe she didn’t know how; maybe she didn’t have a proper example on what comforting someone looked like. But she saw all three of them reach for Senshi, she saw them hold him in their arms, and anchor him as he cried.
This is the first time another party member has cried out of sadness since that moment. It’s possible that she saw how the others helped Senshi, and maybe, subconsciously, she saw that it worked. That it made him feel better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She is clearly unused to it, and has her own rollercoaster of emotions as Marcille gratefully accepts the comfort Izutsumi is offering her. But it helps. It helps Marcille immediately, and Izutsumi knows this.
Tumblr media
These acts of vulnerability are foreign to her, and thus make her feel uncomfortable, but she lets Marcille lean on her afterwards anyway. She wanted Marcille to be okay, wanted it so badly, that she accidentally overcame an emotional obstacle she never even knew she had.

"Surely there was a better way to convey this information" probably! That may be why I'm no longer asked to contribute to our social media page at work!
But its that season again and i want to remind everyone that just because an object is vest-shaped and floats does not make it a lifejacket. Only a Coast Guard approved PFD is tested and rated to save your life. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
Tumblr media
This...thing pops up in searches for "child's inflatable lifejacket" and bills itself as such. But scroll down and we find an explanation:
In contrast to life vests meant to keep your head above water, our vest enables you to swim smoothly with your head in the water. It keeps you buoyant longer for a safe and enjoyable experience - without worry of surprise riptides or fatigue.
Catch that? This thing is not intended to and will not keep your head above water, the single most important thing a personal flotation device should do. What if you are in a riptide and fatigued while wearing this thing and not longer able to keep your breathing hole above the water's surface? You're shit out of luck. You drown.
Tumblr media
Consumers may notice that there is a warning notice on the back, but the good people at Amazon have cleverly obscured it. We can still make out "does not protect [...] drowning". If your waterwings, floaties, or vest-shaped inflatable have a disclaimer like this then they are not rated to safe your life, your child's life, your dog's life, whatever!
By contrast, every Coast Guard approved PFD has labeling like this:
Tumblr media
It will clearly say USGC approved and have an approval number. It will say WHO it is rated for (infant, child, youth, adult), the size (small, medium large), an upper weight limit, and generally what kind of recreation its approved for (near shore versus offshore etc). It will give you instructions for proper use and signs that your lifejacket is nearing the end of its utility and needs to be replaced.
Not all personal flotation devices are suited for all activities. Whitewater kayaking and deep-sea fishing need more specialized gear than a day at the lake. But you should have, at minimum, a correctly-sized, well-fitting, CG approved PFD in serviceable condition for any kind of activity on or near the water. Have it, but most importantly, wear it!!!!!
