The cutest reminder ever that the way family works in TSAMS canon is that two parties have to be in mutual agreement that they are family. If one party doesn't agree then they aren't family. Parties can revoke familial ties whenever they want and that means they are no longer family.

"Code Relation" theory is stupid because you're then implying that Eclipse is Sun and Moon's child. Which he isn't. Or that Killcode is somehow Moon's child and his brother at the same time that he's Eclipse, Lunar and Bloodmoon's "father" at the same time that they're Sun and Moon's grand children. Like, we're seeing the issue here, right?

Don't make things more complicated than it has to be. Just accept the fact that family is literally determined by a verbal agreement between two animatronics and nothing else because none of them were born from wombs. That means respecting canon when characters in canon decide that they aren't comfortable being family (like Eclipse) or just straight-up disown everyone (like Bloodmoon). It's okay to have headcanons, but don't try to push them onto canon.

had such a good experience with surgery today i can’t even fully explain

#🍄.txt #i’m so happy that fuck ass doctor referred me to another doctor in the building because he was so nice and attentive #taking the time to explain things to me and make sure i was good #even said oh well if ur really uncomfortable we can always go to the operating room! :)#when the other doctor treated me like a nuisance the whole time and like some dumb child #well if you can’t sit still they’re going to have to put you under elsewhere 🙄#I DIDNT EVEN FUCKING KNOW THEY COULD DO THAT IN THE BUILDING? SHE MADE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS INCONVENIENCING HER THE WHOLE TIME #i was asking a bunch of questions because knowing makes me feel less nervous and he answered everything so clearly even when my mom was #asking questions too #recommending me different medications to keep this from happening again etc etc etc #so fucking bare minimum for a doctor but it was so nice seriously i wish i could thank him again for making it a more #comfortable experience #he put numbing shots on the inside AND outside of my lid just in case we needed to go from the outside this time #and while it hurt obviously it was so much better than the single shot she gave me the first time three weeks ago #she told me this would be a much more extensive surgery and here i am with my eyelid barely swollen 😐#i could barely see with it open three weeks ago immediately after because it hurt too much and was so swollen #what the fuck how do you have such contrasting experiences with two people who literally work together in the same building #anyway bad doctor experiences are always so fucking bad but when you have a really good experience it just feels crazy and insane #like wow thank u for treating me like a person #did i mention i actually left with care instructions this time written out. and the medicine recommendations on a physical piece of paper #i didn’t even get that after surgery with her how is that not below bare minimum #like this actually surprised me. jesus christ

there's something about peake's writing style that reminds me of susanne clarke's in jonathan strange & mr norrell - the sophisticated humour, maybe - which i love. also, imo you can easily see he was an artist because his descriptions, the way he weaves words, are like exquisite paintings... it's fascinating how his love for art conflates in his writing too

#i mean the clarke comparison as a compliment - she's such a good writer #obv *she* was probably influenced by peake's works #but still. the comparison stands #i also feel that grrm has read and appreciated these books... asoiaf is a very different kind of story #(except for the medieval-like setting and the larger than life castles...)#but i suppose he would love a character like steerpike. the latter vaguely reminds me of baelish except he's. more interesting imo #maybe because we can see into his head while littlefinger's inner thoughts are still a mystery #or maybe because while steerpike is very cerebral at the end of the day petyr is motivated by personal passions and resentment #... unless something about steerpike's backstory is not yet revealed? in any case he seems largely... unemotional #not as passionate as baelish in his (twisted) love/obsession for catelyn for example #again. i'm still halfway through the first book so these are just my first impressions #i could be wrong!#val reads gormenghast #val speaks #txt

#Episodes that make me go “The author has never talked with a woman ever” 😓😓😓#I don't like how Lucy's character is handled at all. And I feel like I can't talk about it because I'm just going to sound like a bitter–#ss/kk shipper... But I really don't like it. And if it can help my case I'm a multishipper so I really don't take any–#issues with atsu/lucy I like the ship quite a lot actually.#So you're telling me there's this girl... Who meets this boy who pretty much ruined her life by directly causing her to lose her job...#And the next time she sees him she's going to sacrifice her own freedom for him as well as tell him “when you're done doing your things–#come and save me” (longest ewwww ever)... And when she regains freedom (author didn't bother to explain how because they don't care)–#she goes to work... As a waitress at the café beneath his workplace. So he can keep doing his Cool Superpowers Job while she literally–#must serve him every time he visits the place. It's just ?????????????????????????????????#Look‚ I don't dislike Lucy and I feel general affection towards her. It's just that they make her act like no one ever would #Just for the sake of the plot I guess #And like I knoww it's (probably just a little) more nuanced than that. I know Lucy is living her own fairy tale fantasy.#It's just that what I've said about her story is still true‚ you know?#I'm sorry but as sweet as atsu/lucy can be. I really hate the author for making Lucy a waitress. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.#It's so weird. This anime has women writing standards that feel like dating back to the 20s #Same with Katai and the ideal woman tbh. Like why are women to be seen as this abstract impersonal entities? I feel bad for the animators tbh #I don't really like the shift in art style :( Not even Atsushi I found particularly pretty this episode my heart cries #The nail pulling thing made me feel like throwing up afhsjyabfsbfwasfvb I feel like I can bear worse gore but there's a couple of little–#specific things I can't stand and this seems to be one of them pffftttt #I like Higuchi I think she's both very funny and cool. I really wish she was explored more (but then again looking at Teruko... )#The relationship between Kunikida and Katai looks so interesting even though we only get glimpses of it. Kunikida regrets Katai leaving–#the ada but is also happy for him but also worries for him. He comes to his house seemingly to check on him and starts cleaning around.#The way he loves him and cherishes their friendship and shared history is really evident and it makes for a compelling dynamic.#Perhaps I should read their short story... In any case. Going to someone's house and compulsively start doing the dishes half out of will–#to help out half because he can't bear the mess sounds a lot like something I'd do lol

just thinking about how 3 of tdkr's four major antagonists are people who swore to change their ways and show the public a new face before reverting to old habits

#cipher's squawks #harvey dent + joker both claimed to have been reformed before immediately going back to their old tricks #superman's a bit of an edge case but we count him. he signed a deal w the govt to work for them; but he still stops the bombs from killing-#-anyone. even batman himself #he spent 10 years swearing that he'd never don the cowl again but inevitably gives in.#“i see a reflection; harvey. a reflection.”#it was foreshadowing for the entire book. tdkr is about thrashing against the barred cage that is humanity.#no matter how hard you try you cant outrun the past. but you can try your damnedest to get better #for batman; retirement wasnt the answer to dealing w jasons death.#“he was a good soldier. he /honored/ me”#anyways uhhhh idk if any of this made sense. just thoughts that consume me during every waking moment

i think the "is batman or bruce wayne the mask?" conversation is fun despite the fact that it's simplifying a complex character. personally i think there's a spectrum of authenticity that goes bruce wayne (persona) -> batman -> bruce wayne (real). i think for both masks, he's playing a role, but batman really is closer to who he truly is. if you're REALLY simplifying things and it HAS to be one or the other, then yeah i agree that batman is the truer self.

#i think he's most fully himself when he's in the batcave in the suit but no cowl. with various family working on a case #like that's it man. loves ones + helping people #it's amazing that that's the core of his character when he's such a bitch on the outside #anyways i see people complain that batman/bruce is a pointless conversation. i disagree #just bc there's no answer doesn't mean the conversation isn't interesting #on another note. will we ever get such a perfect voice as kevin conroy again?#he has a voice for both and they both sound pretty natural. i'm awed by it #it's like. he IS putting on a voice but it feels more like he's accessing a deeper more natural part of himself than his regular voice #oh man. rest in peace kevin conroy the true voice of batman

me age seven being sat down in front of the school’s district child psych lady and being given strange, simple spatial puzzles to solve and then long, complicated worksheets and hammering my way through them at the speed of light while having zero comprehension what their purpose was or why i was here: this is urgent! i have to get a good grade in Weird Puzzles, Or Else, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve,

#kjalkjsdalkjasdl mrs button was a nice lady but not one adult in my childhood ever seemed to notice what to me now seems like #a pretty obvious case of the autisms #then again maybe they just didn't look as hard unless it was *really* obvious back then . it was like. what. 2000? a couple years later #everybody was talking about autism but not when i was six or seven then it was usually just when it was Very Visible #a couple years later my cousin who's more visibly on the spectrum than me got her diagnosis so young that she's pretty much always had it #which is...well i think it's just made her life difficult in a different way. people underestimate her or don't treat her like she's her age #but then she's always had the opportunity to get accommodations and people are sometimes more forgiving when she can't do something #whereas i got labeled 'kid that should be ahead of the game' from a pretty young age and then when i struggled adults either ignored it #or it was just a huge hassle to them and even i could see it exasperated them to have to work around me #but because mrs button (nice lady but what were you thinking) hadn't told them to treat me like a kid with a developmental disorder #they didn't do that in good OR bad ways . so i never got any accommodations with school stuff i struggled with which was a fair bit #i wasn't supposed to need extra testing time in a quiet room or tutoring with math or help organizing my abysmally scattered things #the only time i DID get that was in sixth grade when i was sort-of friends with this kid jonathan who was Very On The Spectrum #he wasn't really a talker unless it was about whatever he was reading which suited me fine so we just kind of existed in each other's space #and his TSS was this very smart and nice lady who had clearly clocked that Something Was Going On With Me and even though it wasn't like #her JOB she made a little bit of time for me. mostly with emotional stuff (i think i was under the impression she was a therapist?)#but if i had some problem with being unable to keep friends or being frozen out by the kids i wanted to be liked by (happened often)#she'd be able to just like. be there she'd make the time . wish i could remember her name

#fave spotting #peter wyngarde #overseas press club exclusive!#jason king #classic tv #1957 #abpc #the george polk case #gregorios staktopoulos #george polk #for more on this strange little series see the tags on a prev alfred burke fave spotting post #i mentioned at that time my doubts that all of these stories were quite as 'torn from the headlines' as the narrator would have us believe #but this one is certainly true: george polk was a real american journalist and he was really murdered in Greece during the civil war there #that part is certainly delivered fairly accurately; it is‚ however‚ kind of background to this old tv dramatisation of events #which is more concerned with capturing the guilty party (SPOILERS ig for a near 70yr old show nobody will watch lol): it's Peter of course #but that's where we hit a weird snag; bc his character here is again very much (for once) based on a real person‚ Gregorios Staktopoulos #but Gregorios' confession was almost certainly obtained via torture‚ not the play of wits shown here; his conviction was also‚ to say the #least‚ unsafe. evidence brought in that trial has been shown to be false‚ and it's actually debated now that Polk was not killed by the #Communist forces (whom Gregorios worked with) at all‚ but by right wing elements affiliated with the Greek government... as recently as #2004 his widow was campaigning for a posthumous retrial to clear his name. so yes an unfortunate footnote in old tv: when you #actually DO try to tell a true story‚ just be aware that the facts you're taking as true may not always be what they appear #the real Gregorios was indeed sentenced to life in prison as in this ep‚ but some relief there in that his sentence was reduced and #(perhaps in recognition of the shady legalities surrounding his conviction) he was released in 1960 and returned to work as a journalist #the George Polk Awards for american journalism are still given today which is nice #imdb list this ep as The George Polk Story but the onscreen title is definitely Case

#.most of the feelings were thrown onto evan since like. i dunno feels like a lot of the works like that write the npcs as fi the npcs-#.are actually people from outside the game transported into the game and have points of refrence about this whole thing and react how ''rea #.people'' would react to learning that they were inside a video game #.when really the npcs would prolly react closer to just going yea okay. since that's their world. they have no other world. that's their #.universe. and now they ave a little bit more info about their own universe #.yea they could have an existencial crisis if they knew what it means but also like #.''ooooh that means that i'm not real'' uhm. yea they are. they still are. that world is real from their perspective and continues to be #.real even after the learn about this #.from OUR perspective they aren't! but from theirs? yea! they are!#.also it9 s not like they would instantly know everything about how video games work even if they had no prior knwledge of that #.why would they try to change the fact that they're made out of lines of code #.that's like being mad and wanting to change the fact that they're made out of atoms #.except in their case it's ones and zeros in a computer #.PLUS!!!!!!!!!
