i hope my misadventures aren't dissuading anyone from making their own website as a patreon alternative, when i first did this back in 2016/2017 it was actually pretty painless so most of the issues i am having right now are based on the fact that i already have a site with content and members that i don't want to lose or fuck over

more specifically i originally set it up with a service that did most of the hard stuff for me, which meant that when they changed from a free service that took a cut to a paid service that still took a cut it really fucked me

if i'd done just a teeeeensy bit more work in the beginning i would be doing much less work right now, which is the actual lesson you should be taking away from my Agonies

we gotta bring back livejournal and wordpress and forums and weird little blogsites that aren't connected to any social media presence at all its just people online doing online things. the internet is so small now bc we're all squished into the same sites. we used to be so spread out. we used to be a proper decentralised digital culture

Given the general.... disaster of various social medias, I decided to spruce up my wordpress website/art archive

I do sort of... want to figure out how to make it look more professional? I'm past the point in my art where I feel the need to look realistic in style or anything, but there are some things that I'd like to redo like:

better photos of all my art dolls in consistent lighting and backgrounds (i realized this is really needed as im gathering more and more)

more neatly arranged layouts for toy concepts/pitches

figure out how to get photos to link to pages with more detailed information? instead of having all the photos on the front page

re-add the links to my socials and ko-fi

figure out how to make my name and signature consistent. i sign my art otteroflore, but my site is art-er of lore because thats my youtube channel, so i need to put an explanation

-> an explanation that is not the real one, which is that i felt that animal themed names are not good for youtube SEO, and i needed something that put "ART" in the title -> doesnt help that my tumblr otteroflore isnt even for my art and otterloreart is missing the of. i dont know what i was thinking.

anyways if you guys have any suggestions they are welcome, im still figuring things out. i dont even think most people know i have the wordpress anyways, its not like much links to it, but again, i want to have an archive separate from social media now...
