March 14, 2023: Followers of the Sabean Mandaean faith, a pre-Christian sect that follows the teachings of the Bible’s John the Baptist, perform rituals in the Tigris River during a celebration marking “Banja,” or Creation Feast, in central Baghdad, Iraq. Iraqi Sabaean Mandaeans view John the Baptist as their central prophet and submerge themselves in the Tigris during an annual five-day ritual.

Week 05 - Eight Panel Comic Ex 5.1 Cartoon Self -What does your Cartoon Self look like? -How can you draw yourself across 8 panels and stay ‘on model’ so that all eight versions of your cartoon self look consistent? Think about economy of means - consider the Ivan Brunetti style of character - complex forms made from economic primitives (circle, rectangle, triangle and line). -To help you create a model sheet for your cartoon self, draw your cartoon self in the following poses: 1) Front 2) Side 3) Moving (flying, jumping, running, walking etc.) 4) Action (drinking, laughing, crying, thinking, reading etc.) Spend 4 minutes per pose so that you can find an economy of means whilst staying on model

Week 5: Case Study - Self Driving Cars
This week I couldn’t access the page before tutorial so there was no research.
-----
So in this case study we were divided into groups to discuss the assets and risks of self driving cars and a recommendation for either yes or no. We (my group) didn’t realise that we were the head of security so we analysed asset, risk and recommendation in a more general way.
Asset:
Live of people
Infrastructure
Transport
Risk:
Economical
Security of transport
Ethics of an accident
Recommendation: As a group we decided yes! Weighing up on the assets and risk it is inevitable to have self driving cars in the future.
Reflection: If I was the head of security, weighing up the assets and risks, I would say no, Australia is not ready for self driving cars. From past accidents such self-driving cars not recognising humans in the dark or darker-skinned individuals I believe that the technology is not ready to be fully used independently. If it were to be released, there must be protocols and methods to ensure the safety of all individuals and the ability for the vehicle to react quickly enough. Similarly, with self driving cars, the “driver” shouldn’t be distracted as it there is always a risk of malfunction.

Social Media Election?
Tumblr media
After 60 years ruling the country, Malaysia’s ruling coalition Barisan Nasional (BN) was unexpectedly defeated by the opposing coalition Pakatan Harapan (PH). Although BN’s image has been critically tarnished by corruption scandals, their defeat seems unlikely as the election was heavily favoured towards them. For instance, rural areas were given significant weight which favoured BN (The Conversation 2018), the opposition leader Tun Mahathir Mohamad’s face was also torn down from billboards (The Straight Times 2018). Besides, BN has a tight grip on the printing press, newspapers such as Utusan and The Star were connected to parties in the BN coalition (Studies.aljazeera.net 2019). Most of the free-to-air channels such as RTM1, TV3 and NTV7 were also under BN ownership (Mohd Azizuddin 2014). Opposition leaders were repressed and arrested by the abusive usage of the law while media outlets critical of the government were at risks of getting their licences revoked (Studies.aljazeera.net 2019). Considering all the factors, PH’s chances of victory looked slim. What tipped the scale?
Tumblr media
Social media has been used as an alternative media for Malaysia’s opposition parties since the days of Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi (Mohd Azizuddin 2014). There were blogs criticising the Badawi government, the government threatened to take action but ultimately failed. The first Bersih rally which was conducted in 2007, a direct result of harnessing social media to spread awareness on the country’s political climate (Tye et al. 2018). In 2008, BN lost their two third’s majority in parliament for the first time since 1969. The 2008 election outcome was credited to social media’s strong influence as Malaysians are increasingly using the internet for news (Mohd Azizuddin 2014). This was evident to Malaysians during that time that social media could be used to fire up a movement that would reach a wider audience (Jericho 2012).
Tumblr media
Fast forward to 2013, the number of political movements organised on social media significantly increased during the 13th Malaysian General Election. Approximately 100,000 Malaysians took the streets during the Black505 rally immediately after GE 13, protesting fraud and money politics that was allegedly involved in GE 13 (Lim 2017). Expressions such as Ubah (Change), Ini Kali Lah! (This is it!) and Reformasi (Reformation) was articulated on social media and were used as slogans during rallies. Netizens also change the colour of their profile pictures to show support to different causes such as Bersih (yellow), Black505 (black), Anti-Lynas (green) and Save Felda (orange) (Lim 2017). It has become clear to Malaysian politicians that social media is an impactful medium for political communication (Lee 2017).
Tumblr media
Entering the 14th General Election in 2018, BN has been declining in legitimacy due to their corruption scandals. Public awareness of these issues has been snowballing due to the role of social media as a propaganda medium (Studies.aljazeera.net 2019). Opposition leaders also have a stronger and more established social media presence compared to BN leaders. In addition, they were very vocal in criticising Najib and the 1MDB scandal, this accompanied by their strong social media presence compared to politicians from BN dealt a huge blow to BN’s public opinion. As a result, BN ultimately lost favour among the people and PH was given the mandate to rule the country.
I believe social media is not the sole determinant of GE 14’s outcome; however, it surely proved that social media could be a medium that parallels or even overpowers traditional media (Mohd Azizuddin 2014). Thus, in the current political context, politicians must better establish themselves not only in the real world but also in social media so that they may gain a winning chance.

Week 5: Customer Segmentation
In my understanding of how customer segmentation works, it is dividing a customer base into groups of individuals similar in specific ways relevant to marketing, such as age, gender, interests, and spending habits.
For ATOM, we did our customer segmentation for NavigaTour by conducting in-depth interviews with three individuals who represent our customer persona. We purposely interviewed individuals who represent our intended market from distinct age groups. Hence, we have one elderly, one teen, and mall personnel to represent the mall management at large. If we had one more room for an interviewee, we would also love to interview a visually-challenged person to understand their demands more intently when it comes to the usage of navigation applications.
The interview went well; we learned about their backgrounds and how they perceive the use of a navigation application such as NavigaTour for accurate indoor mall mapping. We got to ask them questions about their frustrations and motives when going to malls. We also learned their viewpoint regarding the features that they think would be beneficial to users as offered by a navigation application, aside from its main navigation feature.
After that, we created the customer workflow, which was quite technical, and we somehow had a hard time attaining it. But we were able to discern how to do it. We realized it should be significantly based on the information gathered from our interviews with our customer persona. As a startup company, we understand that a customer journey flowchart will help us increase our customer engagement and provide a holistic view of interaction with customers across different contact points of our application (NavigaTour). Besides, it also helps create comprehensive customer profiles based on customer engagement through multiple channels.
With all these learnings, we feel like we are now equipped and ready to go on to the other processes as we aim to establish NavigaTour and make it come to life.

Week 05: Something Awesome Bandit Game Levels 20 - 22
Level 20 -> 21
I spent forever on this question, admittedly I looked at the solution after spending a couple of hours frustratingly trying. I forgot the solution pretty quickly (just what I had to type with nc, I was on the right track with using the linux command screen to get a seperate terminal up) though so I tried again the next day and I figured it out. So this one needed me to use the linux command screen to create a seperate terminal, and I had to do echo key | nc -l localhost 2000. And on the other screen I’d so ./suconnect 2000, and it would send the password through. This level took forever :/
Level 21 -> 22
Cron??, it told us to look at /etc/cron.d/ for the config and what command is being executed
When I went there I found a file called cronjob_bandit22
That file lead to a file /usr/bin/cronjob_bandit22.sh
There’s a password here!
Nope not the right one
In the bash file, it looks like its copying the bandit password and pasting it into file in tmp
So I opened up /tmp/[longlineofstringsandnumbers] and there’s the password!
Level 22 -> 23
Okay, similar to the previous level
I see a file called /usr/bin/cronjob_bandit23.sh
Looking at the code, it looks like its copying the bandit password to another file
I ran the file ./cronjob_bandit23.sh and it printed out where its copying the password to!
But it’s the same password as the previous level
Ah because when I ran the file, myname=$(whoami), whoami is bandit22 not bandit23, so its copying bandit22′s password
I had a eureka moment, in the script it does the following:
mytarget=$(echo I am user $myname | md5sum | cut -d ' ' -f 1) (taken from cronjob_bandit23.sh)
So I just ran  echo I am user $myname | md5sum | cut -d ' ' -f 1 in my linux terminal, but did:  echo I am user bandit23| md5sum | cut -d ' ' -f 1 in my linux, which spat out a long line of letters/numbers
I did cat /tmp/longlineofstringsandnumbers and got the password!
Looking back at this level, it took me a while to figure out that the file was running regularly (because of cron), and that it was user bandit23 who was the “whoami”. Also I did these levels I think at the start of the week? (Week05), I’ll do more soon

“I believe in redefining my impossible.”
Nike has approached you to breathe life into a new campaign. "I love your style / voice, and want you to shoot this campaign" - Kevin Ou (Marketing Director, Nike) 4 Images will be launched on Instagram over the course of 4 weeks. (1 per week). New Tagline: “I believe in redefining my impossible.” Create a series of 4 images that best showcases the energy and emotion of Nike and their new Tag Line. You can use any digital storytelling tools that you've learnt. Remember: This project is 50% technology and 50% about ideas. The best results will be a combination of both. Demographics (Target Audience): 18 - 25 year olds 50% Male / 50% Female Singapore Market only
“I believe in redefining my impossible.” ^ to me this tag line immediately calls out SPEED & FLIGHT.
Though I’m not really good with the technology side as I’m still learning and hope to get better in it someday - I tried my best to play with quirky angles and drawings. Since our target audiences are teens - I wanted to keep it light hearted, simple and funny.
Since the impossible to be is ‘flying’ ( because we humans do not have the ability to fly haha ) - I decide to play with some flying ideas.
