No okay bcuz actually I DO want to explain my thoughts from this post here because I love analyzing things and I think talking abt Vox's relationships thru the lens of "this is just like Buffy fr fr" could be fun :)

FIRST OFF: VoxVal as Spike & Drusilla. I do not know their ship name and tbh I'm probably never gonna talk about them again so whooooo cares. To state the obvious, in this situation Vox is Spike and Val is Dru. Now, it's been awhile since I've watched Buffy, but from what I remember, Spike & Drusilla really are THE toxic villain couple, in that they're both like. Not very good to or for eachother, all things considered, but goddamnit they love eachother SO MUCH- which really is the generous interpretation of Staticmoth. I'm not gonna go super in depth into the fucking. Is Staticmoth abusive debate rn. Because I have one million other posts that make my stance on that pretty clear I think. But the uh... nicer interpretation of their relationship is very much Spike & Drusilla I think. Like right down to the headcannon of Vox liking how Val's shit eyesight & temper tantrums makes him kind of dependent on him. Again, could be misremembering, but based off of how Spike was w/ Dru while she was weakened(and based off of how he rebounded w/ Harmony of all people 💀), I get the distinct vibe that, despite his frustrations, Spike did like having somebody relying on him the way Dru(and later Harmony) did. Vox def seems like the type of guy that would get a kick out of feeling Needed and Relied On(why else would he literally route the entire Pride rings power grid through himself-), and Valentino is. Well. Valentino. I'm not gonna go over their interaction before Stayed Gone because it makes me ~genuinely uncomfortable~ for reasons I have, once again, gone into in depth before, but suffice it to say that it's definitely in character for Vox to be into Val relying on him like that. Oh also, like somebody pointed out in the reblogs on the original post, the reason Spike & Dru broke up from s3 all the way to their reunion in s5 is that she cheated on him and that's. Yeah that sounds about right.

And second, the Staticradio twins: Spuffy and Spangel. Why the fuck did I call them the Staticradio twins? I don't know I'm tired as shit and just used most of my brain power on the VoxVal segment now get off my back- anyways, these two are actually pretty easy to explain so I'll just get right into it! Most of the similarities between Staticradio and Spuffy can really be summed up in the song Reat In Peace from Buffy's musical episode. One-sided, obsessive crush on someone who you know deep down will probably never reciprocate. You want them to just leave you the fuck alone and stay gone(hahahahahahahahah), but they just. Aren't. Like even the bits about being a dead guy without a heart beat are spot on because Vox is a motherfuckin DEMON who is a ROBOT!!!!!!! Also the Alastor Body Pillow fanon(which IS fanon. It is. I'm sorry to say but that wasn't a thing on the Instagrams y'all-) does line up with the uh. The Buffy sex bot- it does line up with the Buffy sex bot. Anyways moving on to the Spangel section-

"You were my sire man!" - Spike, to Angel, in his introduction episode. I don't remember if this was retconned in season 5(or 6?) to be Dru siring Spike? It might've been. But for the sake of this post lets pretend it wasn't. Angel was basically Spike's mentor for a lot of their time together pre-show. They ran around in their weird little vampire polycule causing problems for everyone and life was good! Then Angel got cursed. Bro got a soul and then ran away for years without a word to anyone. Then, cut to current day, and Spike is hyped to see him right up to the point he realizes Angel has Changed. And from that point onward to two are RIVALS!!!!! Narrative foils, even. And while it isn't exactly the same as Alastor and Vox's history, it's pretty damn similar right!? Al was(presumably) Vox's friend and mentor for YEARS, like to the point of being comfortable taking a picture with him. Then something happens between them, causing a rivalry to form. Throw somewhere in the mix Al's deal & him fucking off for 7 years... it's like the same pieces being put together in a new way to make a different puzzle. Is Rosie Darla in this analogy? Unclear. Val is still Dru though. Do y'all get where I'm coming from? It's far, FAR from the same thing, like there are so many fucking differences and that's just going off of the stuff we DO know(I want to know more god I can't wait for season 2-), but the dynamics ARE similar. They're narrative foils with a deep history w/ eachother where they were probably-definitely friends, something caused them to become RIVALS, and also one of them is cursed and dissappeared for several years-

Whoo boy this got kinda incoherent- Anyways, that brings me to my brand new fun and interesting point: Vox and Spike are kinda similar characters. They're both antagonists who wanna be Big Tough Scary guys so bad, and like. They are. They are big tough AND scary. Sometimes. But for the vast majority of their screen time, their emotions, capacity for love(no matter how twisted their version of love is), and the consequences of that love going wrong continually get the better of them and cause them to look to us, the audience, like silly pathetic wet cats we found on the side of the road. Then they get Weird about it(Vox's "rivalry" w/ Angel and the. Buffy sex bot.) and we remember oh yeah this guy is EVIL! They also both wear long jackets and are bisexual :)

oh god i'm not the most well-read on either BUT uh. spoilers for both medias i guess.....i need to stress that these should NOT be seen as like dramatic edgy series because of what's going on under the hood though, that's not the point of them or what they focus on, and it'd be a huge disservice to think of them as 'taking themselves too seriously' type things for this, haha.

EDIT: it's been a bit since i made this post and in looking around since then i've discovered i might've gotten the wrong impression about some of the pizza tower stuff. i intended to only mention what was fact/hard canon here, but some might be extrapolated anyway, so take it with a pinch of salt.

bigtop burger is, for all intents and purposes, a chill and lighthearted series of animated shorts about a bunch of college kids who work at a clown-themed food truck. their clown boss is more than a little strange and suspicious but they're content to let it slide because he's generally friendly and well-meaning; and again, the series is only really About the kids and their day to day lives, and the wacky cartoon antics that may occasionally come with that. such as, say, watching their boss slice a truck in two with a katana. it's a little weird for sure but we don't question it.

they have a rival burger truck, zomburger, which is zombie themed, and led by a guy who is defintiely totally not actually undead. the kids this guy employs are pretty into the whole gimmick [because theyre theater majors and "get paid like thousands of dollars per hour" <-presented as the most bizzare thing that's happened], and so have no issue doing things like firing cannons at our clown-thmed protags during a highway chase. their boss has some kind of serious beef with the clown boss, but that's their problem. the kids are chill with eachother.

what they're Not telling you is that the clowns and undead have some kind of ancient feud [possibly even a war???] going on, and zombie guy was apparently[?] only using the food truck thing as a ruse to get at clown guy. both types of guys are insanely powerful and it's heavily implied that neither of them should be mingling with normal humans in the first place, which is why the food trucks and the other employees have their respective gimmicks as cover. also magic of some kind seems to be real, with illusory and portal-type stuff seen so far.

there is a possible implication that clowns are Actually Dangerous and the zombie guy's hunting them is like warranted, but given this unrelated short by the creator apparently set in the same universe, i'd like to more confidently say that it's just zombie guy being an asshole assassin type and they're both high-ranking freaks duking it out in public which is like the worst place possible given their general disinterest in hurting anyone else.

aside: bigtop's lore is a lot more plainly-presented and actually meaningful to the series and the character dynamics, but as it is currently it's nothing more than a backdrop for The Hijinx to play off of so they still never really say anything too direct about it or have characters respond to it. [that said, the most recent episode could easily be considered a turning point so we'll see how things go from here]

pizza tower is, for all intents and purposes, just a funny 2d platformer game where lots of silly things happen to its really excitable protagonist and you get tons of endlessly amusing expressions and animation out of it. it feels somewhat like a playable 90's cartoon, and this is its primary charm. again, you aren't supposed to really question the framing of everything. that'd be like asking why bowser is a fire-breathing turtle. because he is. that's just how it works who gives a shit. pizza tower has you kill a big pillar guy halfway through a given level and then you have to get the hell out on a timer before it all collapses, and there's a funny little janitor guy you can get as a bonus pickup to help you out in each level. each floor of the tower has a different Theme for its set of levels. traditional game stuff. you get to the top of the pizza tower and beat up the jackass pizza guy that threatened to blow up your own pizzeria. [there's more to the gameplay than that but this is just what's lore-relevant]

what the game slides under the radar with its completely-dialogue-less style is that the big pillar guy more or less IS the tower, pillar and janitor were the original residents of the tower before it got turned into the pizza tower [yeah.], and the little janitor guy, who is pillar's brother, is generally fine with helping you destroy the place because for the past [amount of time] he's been fighting a losing battle of helping keep his bro intact in the wake of it being taken over by the jackass pizza guy, who has pretty much defiled it beyond repair for his own amusement since finding it. pizza guy cloned pillar guy a bunch of times and split his consciousness between the duplicates and made them all keep all the portals to the pocket dimensions in the tower [the levels] open. pillar guy's original body has since become derelict and horribly overgrown with.,....pizza..., and it's the last one you destroy to bring the whole thing down. he gives you a tired-looking thumbs up as you blast him off the screen.

none of this has anything to do with the protagonist, who doesn't know about any of it and is Exclusively there to beat pizza guy's ass for threatening his business. and if he has to bring down pizza guy's whole tacky-ass establishment to do that then SO BE IT.

you might notice in the larger background screenshot that the protag guy is Also being cloned in that facility. you do fight a clone of him as the 4th boss and encounter more of them in the level that background is for, but there seems to be very little concrete canon for what exactly pizza guy's intention with protag and his clones was.

aside: this isn't even touching on the other side to this, which is the weird amount of actual character depth that mr. funny cartoon protag man himself seems to have. i am not going to get into that on this post because it will make me really abnormal but oh my god dude.

Please expand upon the things you recently said in some tags about the pachinko games and the timeline?

OKAY, SO! As we all know, Konami loves their casino games, and Castlevania in particular has a whole wealth of them. From pachislots to actual slots, something particularly curious is that the vast majority of these machines seem to be based around the 1470s; or rather, mostly just Curse of Darkness.

For the purposes of this discussion there are 9 relevant machines: - Pachislot Akumajo Dracula (Trevor) - Pachislot Akumajo Dracula II (Trevor) - Pachislot Akumajo Dracula III (Trevor) - Castlevania Labyrinth of Love (Trevor) - Castlevania Labyrinth of Fire (Trevor) - Castlevania Vampire Hunter (Trevor)

- Castlevania Valiant Guardian (Hector) - Castlevania Ring of the Heavens (Hector) - Castlevania Warrior of Darkness (Hector)

Most if not all of these machines follow a very basic plot: Dracula is revived. Trevor/Hector has to make their way to/through Dracula's Castle and defeat Dracula. This is about all the detail that really matters. As you can see, there are a lot of these things. Counting each one as a completely separate adventure from the mainline games for each character, Trevor gets approximately 5 more Dracula kills under his belt. I don't think I need to explain why this is absolutely hilarious. If you're wondering why it's 5 and not 6, this is because Labyrinth of Love and Labyrinth of Fire are both the same adventure -- this is also true for Valiant Guardian and Ring of the Heavens, in Hector's case, although this would mean that Hector only gets 2 more Dracula kills. Unfortunately, he's not as popular as dear Trevor. However, there are some caveats; most of these machines either depict the exact same events, just with the protagonists swapped (the slot games, literally all the slot games), or some act as reworkings of canon events (most of the pachislots, just about barring Pachislot Akumajo Dracula II). This makes it a bit more questionable how much we can really attribute to any one character. That is, if you don't believe in comedy. For all I care, it's perfectly possible that Isaac came back exactly once and fucked with Trevor for kicks, or that Alucard woke up just the one time to go help Trevor and Sypha kick Dracula's teeth in (although the Grant Discrepancy is unfortunately real and true). In a similar vein, although the slot machines are usually just alternates of eachother for each character, I Want To Believe that they're all separate and yes, Dracula just got revived in the late 15th century that many times. It's funny and it makes me happy.

Angela is a character made specifically for Pachislot Akumajo Dracula I and II. She serves the role of Trevor's companion, basically, and if I needed to describe her it'd be as a bootleg Shanoa. A very, very bootleg Shanoa with way, way, more fanservice to her name. In Pachislot Akumajo Dracula II, she gets corrupted by... I think an evil cursed choker or something? and replaces Isaac as your rival for the machine. She has no substance, of course, because she's from a Pachislot. But I could fix her. She can be Trevor's weird other friend from the Church. Let me have this.

As a closing mention, the Dracula X Chronicles Pachinko, or Rondo of Blood but it's really just Dracula X Chronicles (CR Pachinko Akumajo Dracula), also has an Angela-type new addition! Her name is Victoria Florescu, she's a swordswoman who is apparently looking for her younger sister who has disappeared. She, much like Angela, almost completely lacks any substance.

There's no way I'd seriously try to argue these little gems are anywhere near canon, or even vaguely reasonable. But for the purposes of just some silly fun? I love the idea that they all happened, if only for the comedic potential.

I think one of the most interesting things about welcome to the ballroom is tatara and chinatsu’s dynamic. I like Tatara you know..he’s chill...but my dudes.... it felt like Tatara had to deal with a second main character of her own managa appearing when Chinatsu appeared. It gave case closed/detetive conan combining with Kaito kid main character energy...only the combination was permanent and they were forced to live with eachother. 

Its fascinating because Tatara was good before she appeared.  He was a bit of the nervious type at points but also  gave his all for dancing even when he was going with the flow a bit. We saw him get stronger and we saw some fo his hangups with partners splitting up...but he still focused on Mako and was helping her keep her brother as her partner like she had wanted.

But its AMAZING the affect Chinatus had on him. WIth Mako he was relatively understanding and gentle and more postive.  With the girl who led him to dancing he seemed a bit awkward around but did help her showcase more of her own competativeness and pride and we got to see her big rival was her own partner who was keeping a eye on tatara. and he is rather polite to everyone...even mako’s brotehr after things calmed down a bit.

but it just HIT like a truck that CHinatus was gettng under tatara’s skin like no one else. she was dishonest and was mean about dancing infront of him but then got caught in her love of dancing by him a an tournament which caused her to lash out a bit at him because he was open about his love of dance(even though not at home and getting to do what she was good at(lead). 

I loved seeing how Tatara was actually confused and frusterated with her behavior  especially early on eve whenhe tried to reach out basically. I loved seeing him more directly jealous as well...

Chinatsu was jealous because he was still hopeful and not bitter like she was becuase he was new to dance and could lead while she couldn’t lead becuase she was a girl...but more we saw her jealous also stem from how tatara clearly was a great follower...something she was struggling with because it had cuased her to not click with other partners she tried to pair with..becuase part of chinatsu wanted to be a good follower and do good in the female role due to emuslating her rolemodel. 

while Tatara also had his own rolemodel to some degree in his sort of coach whoc just so happened to be connected to her rolemodel...but we get to see HIM being jealous becuase she is a great leader and she has all this expereience that he is struggling to figure out. We see him frusterated as well becuase of her lack of honesty in her love of dance with him and her picking fights with him when he normally is the noconfrontational type.

I LOVE seeing Tatra struggle becuase not only did he feel like he had a bit od a deadline to catch up to certain dancers who told him they expect him to catch up soon....but we see him actually shwo frusteration with someone.

It really hit me like a brick when the managa/anime brought up the idea of comparing how tatra was around Mako vs how he is around CHinatsu. He was arguably a weird leader for Mako...but they did get along and he WAS able to lead her even if he go some bad habits after focusing on making just her shine. Mako is comparitively gentle to contrast Chinatsu.

The thing is...I was right there with Tatara in forgetting to count Mako as a partner..becuase he was only with Mako so she wouldn’t lose the chance with her own partner...he never expected to keep her. WE all know the sitaution was very different so Chinatsu shouldn’t have to feel jealous or betrayed...but I LIKE how she felt that anyway because from her view he was able to lead someone successfully and it wasn’t her. and he has someone he could comapre chinatsu to who chinatsu saw as a good follower. 

Its also fascinating because we also see it brought up that time tatara had danced with his crush before who is a very good follower to the point no one realized he wasn;t her original partner and he passed a round in a competitian.

but Tatra feels ALIVE around Chinatsu..really changed..he is anble to shout and fight back and get irriated...Chinatsu brings out how emotional Tatara reall can be....which we got hints of before but nothing this concrete...and it helped showcase how repressed Tatara really is as well.

WE also get to see other thing that parallel and contrast....Tatara overthings and overadapts to his partners at times to th epoint he struggles to dance how HE wants and being more assertive in knowing himself...while Chinatsu was used to only one partner while leading and deciding things on her own...her bieng pretty stubborn...though we also see why due to her friend unintentially stifling chinatsu being the follower due to enjoying the lead but also in how how Chinatsu failed to figure out what her follower might want(her friend.

We see that chinatsu had figured out this passion of her earlier than he did, who only founnd his recently by accident. Both were bullied and put down to some degree but for different reasons and they approached it differently....Tatara being saved by his coach from the bullies...beiing pushed around ...but being firm in protecting the coach/dance studio when they tried to target them instead of focusing on himself...while CHinats was the one protecting he rfirend from a bully and was targetted becuase she stood out in a positive way.

its fascinating becuase we KNOW both want to make this work...but they stuff fight and struggle against eachother.

It weirdly feels like the most indepth hetro couple I have seen in a while...when the argue it feels like there is weight to it....I know Tatara might have a thing for teh frist girl at the beining of teh show who ia a amazing follower...and I love hsi dynamic with Mako and they are so sweet...but THIS feels like chemistry.

It feels like the chemistry that proper rivals in shounen tend to have...where there is some nuance or weight to the relationship...like maybe Matt and Tie frm Digimon. or other rivals where there are LAYERS you can feel.

They change each other and I love it. Its also interesting becuase as hs other rival/sort of friend says....Tatara can be a bit twisted in adapting to others...if he became willing to put someone else over himself and make this shine with Mako...with Chinatsu it feels like he learns he has to speak up more yet he used how he adapts to others to help get that character progression for himself which he probably would have t=struggled to do on his own. 

Its also fascinating because we see Chinatsu was also clearly changing and that she was juts as invested as Tatara in making thsi work despite it feeling lke she was the one picking fights at first.

Thye make a point of pointing out his issues not helpingher issues...

but its just SO GOOD seeing them go at it and seeing Mako muse that tatara wasn’t like that when he was leading her.

Chinatsu and Tatara are definitly not anywhere near romance which I like alot...but damn that   just makes me hope these two are able to refine themselfs into diamonds at dancing and eventually do fall for eachother. the chemistry is that good. but even just platonic it works so WELL(and admittedly I feel the potential romantic rival in her ex partler akira).

I can only hope chinatsu and Tatara stay a pair and continue t challenge eachother. Chinatsu just FEELS like her own protagonist and if he isn’t careful she might steal the spotlight XD

OC-tober Day 5: Relationships

I was going to do a chart but I have too many characters and I haven't introduced them all yet so instead I'll take this as an opportunity to introduce two OCs at once, my two absolutely terrible guys, Laurel and his husband Faust!

(warning for brief mentions of mind control in the context of Laurels powers, lemme know if there's anything else in here anyone would want a warning about that I missed)

Laurel is the closest thing Dualiti really has to a villain, as mentioned in his neocities blurb. but due to Dualiti's very static state of being, he's mostly been bothering the same places and people for the last 1000 years, the only thing changing being who's being sent to fight him. either way, he is extremely content with the status quo he's in, where he has a lot of control in his little bubble and can do basically whatever he feels like. He and Vex have a very complicated rivalry, but that's a whole different quadrant- *I AM IMMEDIATELY DRAGGED OFFSTAGE BY SECURITY*

His husband is Faust, a mad scientist who is the absolute worst. just about everyone who meets him is immediately repulsed by his personality, which is "I am smarter than everyone else and anyone who claims otherwise is stupid and wrong, even when I am actively failing at something". somehow, though, Laurel is absolutely charmed by his cringefail demeanor. it also helps that Faust is equally head over heels for him. they are both completely terrible but I guess somehow they cancel eachother out, so that's nice? I'm glad they managed to find eachother.

Laurel Fun Facts:

Though Laurel looks like just a really tall elf, (he is 7'6". elves in the universe of Dualiti do not get that tall ever.) he's actually a sentient magical organism that is puppeting a corpse to function as his main body. that organism is the slime, which manifests on his body as the hair coming from his head.

when Laurel (the magic organism) consumes matter, it produces more slime, which can be used as structures, weapons, and as means of controlling others.

He can make hunters by basically infecting people with himself, (someone ingests the slime, it gets into an injury, ect.) and puppeting them from the inside. once he's infected someone, they're basically already on his network, and he can step into the controls any time. (you know, like vris- *I am once again dragged offstage*) he doesn't use it a lot unless he has to, though. he likes the challenge of convincing people to work for him.

(also just to get it out there because I mentioned Laurels powers and I want to make it clear that, no, Faust isn't being mind controlled or anything. he just encountered someone who actually genuinely liked him and went full Gomez Addams about it)

He is very much inspired by my love of classic disney villains. always love a character who is awful and is having so much fun with it. Shoutout to my girl Maleficent she inspired SO much about Laurel without me even realizing it.

as mentioned, he and vex have sort of a weird rival thing going on. do they hate eachother? are they best friends? something else? fucking. I don't know man.

Faust Fun Facts:

Faust is very much inspired by characters like Doctor Robotnik, or Berdly of Deltarune. basically characters that are very confident in being super smart even when they probably aren't actually.

this isn't to say he's bad at what he does, he's really good at making robots and doomsday devices and the like- he's just bad at realizing that maybe he shouldn't keep putting in the function for them to explode randomly or at the slightest interference. high intelligence, fucking AWFUL wisdom.

Bimonthly Media Roundup

- Columbo (TV) - Got interested in the second hand lore I've heard and finally decided to watch the show. I do already see why it was such a phenomenon, Columbo himself is instantly likable in his fake haplessness and annoying relentlessness, and the reverse mystery of seeing the murderer desperately try to cover their tacks from the detective is a neat twist on the genre that produces some high tension. The length of the episodes as well as their stand-alone quality means I'll likely be watching this occasionally rather than binging it, but its definitely a fun time.

- Pluto (Anime) - Very Interesting so far, though I'll save any thoughts until I'm farther along.

- Bridgerton (TV) - I was interested in the news of potential lesbians, as skeptical as it is that it will happen. Anyway I suggested this to my sister as a watch, honestly I'm not enjoying the first season that much, I like the outfits and a couple side characters but mostly the drama is very manufactured and the characters unlikable with the most first world of first world issues. I understand that the high class setting is part of the charm, and in a series with more likable characters this kind of stuff wouldn't bother me, but as it is the constant miscommunication and spiteful actions towards eachother is more annoying than anything else. Still I hear the other seasons are better so we'll see.

- Jujutsu Kaisen (Anime) - Hot off of OP, my sister and I thought we might as well jump into the more recent Big shounen darling. So far I would say JJK is a mixed bag though it leans more towards the positive. For the good stuff obviously the animation is top tier, the plot, while pretty standard, has enough intrigue to keep you interested episode by episode, and I surprisingly like a lot of the character interactions, they can be pretty fun and charming. I'd say the characters kind of vary between being likable but general archetypes and just unique enough to make them more than an archetype, like Fushiguro being a bit too much of intentionally funny loser to be just the angsty strict rival type or Maki being too self-aware of how her off-comments affect others to be the cool aloof girl. For the negatives I do like the protagonist though he at least at this point doesn't have anything super interesting going for him, kind of just a likable plucky hero who's nice to people. More importantly the battle system is kind of a mess, mostly in execution rather than by design. Having curse demons be the enemy and people utilizing person specific abilities is fine and all, but more often than not the abilities are overly complex and are only explained by the people fighting each-other info-dumping the specifics of how their technique works to the person they are fighting, which is pretty silly and really slows down the pacing. They try to justify this by claiming that "explaining your ability to the person it's affecting makes it work better" but come on, that's a total cop out, I'd rather receive no explanation than that one. I can't help but think there's better ways to integrate the techniques into the story, either by having the teachers do individual tests on the students to explain their abilities, or cutting to other uses, or just trusting your audience to understand what they are seeing. All that being said this is still pretty fun, I'm enjoying it.

- Community (TV) - I like the quick witted writing. Not enjoying the weird Annie/Jeff stuff. Maybe just keep the camera on Troy, Abed, and Shirley actually.

- The Witch of Mercury (Anime) - Cool that they started a company as the politics of keeping up a business is to me a more interesting story than robot battles, though despite the general charm of the characters there's still not a big hook keeping me invested. I enjoy it when I'm watching, but am in no hurry to click the next button. Still I'm only in the first half, so lets see where it takes me.

- Paper Mario: TTYD (Video Game) - Release of a classic, one of the best and most charming Mario games. Been slow playing it as I've been getting more into Genshin lately, but it's good to have it again.

- One Piece (Anime/TV) - Yup.

- Genshin Impact (Video Game) - This will probably be here the whole year, let's be real.

WARNING!!!! Get ready for the sappiest thing I have ever written in my life and because I'm a sucker for this, I'm adding GIFs to really give you a sense of my feelings!

Before Sky (@skylerisgay aka @delicatestar <- spiritual blog) came into my life, I had no desire to be with anyone. I had an "I was born alone so I will die alone" kind of motto.

As I got older I wrote a REALLY LONG letter. In the letter, I described the kind of qualities I wanted a life mate to possess and then I lost it.

Before losing my letter, I held it close to my heart, closed my eyes and made my wish to whichever god was listening (I will later learn Aphrodite was with me that night.)

Years past and nothing happened but I felt this confidence deep in my heart that assured me my person was out there. My family and friends even insisted I start dating but I refused because in my heart of hearts, I knew my person was looking for me too.

Then one day I had this OVERWHELMING feeling to get back into a fandom I used to be obsessed with.

I had ANOTHER OVERWHELMING feeling to create a role play account on Twitter (of all places) and search for roleplay friends, which was weird since prior to that I had never roleplayed before.

That's when I came across Sky's account.

I felt an arrow go through my heart which was odd given that their roleplay account had no personal information whatsoever. Everything described the character they roleplayed. Even the icon they were using was the same being used by 20 other roleplayers.

There was nothing that told me anything about this person and yet I felt this electricity sparking my soul. My heart kept screaming "it's them! It's the person I was looking for!" So I sent them a message in character, followed them but they never replied.

I then convinced myself the feeling of being shot by Cupid's arrow had all been in my head.

I found a roleplaying community and continued roleplaying. Life went on.

I met and had been roleplaying with a different person RP-ing as the same character Sky was playing (with the same icon). Because I played a rival character, so I was used to their tweets but one day they sent a tweet that shot electricity all over me.

I looked at their username and it wasn't the person I had been RP-ing with but Sky! We roleplayed and our characters flowed well together.

After months of pretending to be characters from our shared fandom, we started talking out of character and found we had A LOT in common (even though as people, we are complete opposites).

After a few more weeks of tweeting we started texting, and then talking on the phone. We talked for hours...

But I had really bad PTSD back then and it can get in the way of relationships if not treated properly. Since I was never able to afford help for mine, there were a lot of bumps in our relationship.

Because my PTSD had a habit of pushing people away, it had convinced me I was incapable of love or being loved.

I didn't want to waste Sky's time because they were an amazing person who deserved their own happiness so I started to distance myself from them. I expected them to be okay with it but they were not going to let my fear bully me out of this relationship.

Thats when they told me about the first time they saw my tweets. "It's going to sound weird and I want you to know I'm not the kind bc of person who would say this but...it almost felt like being shot by Cupid's arrow? Like feeling electricity I everytime we interact."

As a show of trust, they sent me a picture of what they looked like, and I swear on every god I work with, when I first saw Sky my life flashed before my eyes. I saw us laughing, loving, traveling (even though I had never left my little California corner) and growing old together. It felt like I was having a heart attack.

They were coming to a convention I usually went to and I was so nervous that I had convinced myself not to go but after feeling my heart ache, I closed my eyes and could feel Aphrodite say "go for it." So I met up with them.

We hit it off in person, kept visiting eachother and eventually moved in together.

A few years later Sky was cleaning an old closet of mine when they found my very long letter (the one where I wrote the qualities I wanted in a life mate) and started to cry because...

It described them perfectly.

Sky kept the letter and read it to themselves on days when my PTSD was particularly hard.

When I was able to finally afford it, I went to therapy and worked hard with the letter in my pocket to give me strength because I believed in us and I wasn't going to let my PTSD push Sky away the way it usually pushed everyone else.

I'm happy to say that after 10 wonderful years of Aphrodite binding us together, Sky and I will be traveling Europe in a Disney Cruise to celebrate!
