I’m so happy to have a Fruits Basket mentioned so earlier, and also to dive a bit more about my feelings with Sebek. Thank you for your ask, Biz! (sorry for being late tho)

Let’s begin with Hatori Sohma aka best dragon man since Shiryu Dragon <3 (if it’s in my notes, it’s truthTM)

Hatori is on my list of favorites from Fruits Basket, especially in the category of the adult cast. He’s a solid character for me and yes, although I think he works better with being part of a dynamic, I love his character arc, his story, the piece of soundtrack that will forever be remembered bc of him. Also, pls, more screen time for him! I know he appears a lot but it’s never enough lmao

Hatori’s first appearance probably left that feeling of something serious in the horizon but most scenes that follow his gloomy entrance have this comedic timing that completely breaks our expectations. Like, Hatori is serious. Sometimes so much that he ends up being a little bit silly but not so Shigure-like type of silliness. I’m thinking about how he called up Tohru just to hand her the photos he took from the Cultural Festival with Kyo and Yuki (and there she was scared af of him) or most of his conversations with Mayuko

Let’s not talk about the seahorse issue, let’s leave it there

Hatori is the perfect balance with a lot of character traits that I personally love, from his deadpan stares to his funny moments, without losing his own essence and this feeling in our hearts that “yes, I’ll protect this 182cm dude that uses very expensive suits and will not talk ever about his traumas unless I ask him about snow melting the spring”

I just think he’s neat <3

so... uh... talking about dragon-related things: LOCAL CROC BOY FROM THE DRAGON DORM AND WHAT ABOUT HIM AND YULIA~

In all humble honesty, Yulia didn’t care much for Sebek when she played twst. She loved the memes tho. And out of some anime she watched with extremely loud characters, she thought that Sebek’s voice was melodic enough to not annoy her when he shouted… but she gets scared every time he announces himself (she’s a very scaredy cat, tbh)

But time goes by, Yulia dreams sometimes of Sebek’s personal stories and she sometimes just stares at him, silently, wondering about what’s going inside that perfectly combed mint piece of head he has and what’s his story. Especially bc Yulia is very family-centered and she loves her dad, so she would gladly sit down with Sebek if he ever need to talk to someone and get together his daddy issues that have more deep roots than “boo humans are lame” and etc

Sebek… doesn't quite understand her. Not even a tiny little bit. He heard a lot about Yulia from Malleus himself, Jack and even Silver, but he still can’t figure her out. Yulia is serious yet chaotic, competent but lazy. She goes round and round on paradoxes like she’s a dress that keeps changing between two colors again and again. UTTERLY TIRESOME!!

Obviously bc of Yulia’s proximity with Malleus, Sebek was very defensive about protecting his liege at first. Later on, it got into simple bickering about their different ways of going about things. Sebek is noisy and Yulia is very quiet. That is, until he starts to read and she gets angry with something

Because Yulia was growing very curious about Sebek each day, she decided to ask Malleus and Silver about the books he was reading and she was happy to know that they both have similar interests in literature (well, the rest of the crew is very similar too but that’s a plus). She tries to talk about Sebek’s family sometimes and she pulls Ace’s ear when he’s going to far with the teasing

Sebek doesn’t know but Yulia is thinking of adopting him as an honorary son he would throw her out of embarrassment if he knew, pretty much just like Deuce. She knows she will cry if he ever gets deep about the issues with fae and humans, the guilt of being rude to his own father even when the poor Mr. Zigvolt was being the sweetest man ever or just his insecurities in general

Yulia is the type of “mom friend” that would pat Sebek’s head and proceed to wish him all the happiness in the world, going on about how she hopes he find someone who loves him deeply, that will treat him right, how the Diasomnia crew loves him as a family, she wants to be invited to his wedding someday and so on. Little does she know she is more destructive to Sebek’s nerves than any joke Ace ever made or Lilia pulling up pranks on him… 

Sebek’s final opinion on Yulia is that she’s okay and all. Yeah, he could say he likes her. Well, platonically. Young Master forbid he ever falls in love with such walking amalgamation of chaos he leaves this horrible cursed fate in Jack and Silver’s hands to duel on

In summary, Yulia gives Sebek a 7.5/10 in terms of good relationship waiting to get better (but well, there’s a whole list of favorites ahead of him too). She shall protect him from unreasonable complaints bc she’s part of the “Sebek protection force” along with Malleus, Silver and Lilia. Only they can bonk Sebek’s gel hair with a baton. Only them.

ok mask mv dropped and I didn’t like it but I’ve been thinking about dream and how cool he is so here’s some cc!dream appreciation

He very clearly has flaws, and sometimes he fucks up! But I appreciate that he really seems to always try to make things better, ya know? He apologized to hasan and to the speedrun mods when he went overboard (even though his apology to the mods was kind of late) and he generally seems like he’s trying to do better. He def needs to learn how to handle drama better but he’s clearly working on it!!

And he’s a genuinely good guy! He’s just this guy from Florida who seems kind of new to reeling in a fandom as large as his and so he’s obviously going to make mistakes, but it’s really cool that he tries, and that he still wants to keep an open relationship with all of us, even if I do sometimes with he kept more private (dream please king, you have terrible anonymity for a faceless person. dream please, at this point I’m scared you’re gonna leak your social security number /lh)

He’s so willing to support the marginalized groups in his fandom, and he works hard to make it a safe space for everyone. He’s donating money to charity for pride month, and he even had an open conversation with us about whether or not to make pride merch because he understands what rainbow capitalism is!!

And he prioritizes friendship so much!! Someone who’s actually a big dream watcher probably has the clip, but he wanted to bring his friends with him to the top, and he succeeded! And it was a brilliant move on his part, because you can always create better content with people you know and like. He mentioned it on a podcast (scuffed podcast I think? Not sure) how he doesn’t want to take any money from his friends the way Team 10 does because he doesn’t care about money and he likes his friends, and that’s so cool of him.

He’s also so smart? People have talked about how brilliant he is with the algorithm and that’s cool and all but he really understands how to make good content. I’m not even the biggest fan of manhunt and I can’t deny that they’re well made and hold interest really well. And he understands what makes a good SMP too! The people around him are not only people he thinks are going to be successful but they’re also his friends. We don’t see it all that often with some of them but he has great dynamics with every one of them off camera.

And my favorite thing about him is how willing he is to give credit to other people, too. The Dream SMP is probably one of the biggest things he’s ever been associated with, and it has his fucking name on it, it would be so easy for him to take credit for all of it, but he gives almost all of the credit to people like Wilbur and Tommy and all of the others, since they carry the plot and scripting. On his eboys podcast he really only took credit for being able to spot talented people, which is so kind of him.

And he’s so willing to uplift other people, especially smaller creators. Do I think the DSMP needs more diversity? Yeah. But it’s so fucking cool that he brings in smaller creators who he thinks have potential and let’s them shine. And in some cases (Ranboo) that skyrockets them! And he’s never been wrong about someone having potential and being a strong creator. He talked about it on the Eboys podcast but he whitelisted Tommy after seeing him and going ‘yeah that kid makes great content’ and look where that’s gone!! That one action had a ripple effect and now we have the smp as we know and love!! And Tommy is on such a rise because Dream was right, he makes awesome content. Same with ranboo and captain puffy and foolish and all of the others who I can’t actually remember right now, Dream was right about them being able to make awesome content, and they do! He doesn’t even stream on his own server so that people are forced to go watch other people, which shows how much he wants to support his friends.

He supports teenagers so much, too. Some people call it creepy, but I really don’t think so? The animator for the mask MV is a teenager and isn’t a professional, so even if I didn’t like it loads, it’s still so cool of him to get it commissioned from a smaller creator. And he’s always willing to show support for tubbo and ranboo and Tommy, and he was a fan of purpled! When tubbo’s song drops I can already tell he’s gonna support the fuck outta it (Sidenote: psst dream if you’re seeing this, crumb cuptoast would be an excellent addition to the server. You wanna add crumb so badly)

tl:dr - i may not be a huge dream stan, and the guy has places to improve, but he’s such a nice guy that genuinely seems to want to make good content with his friends

Why I like them: tubbo’s one of those characters who I like because he’s so fucked up. I find him really interesting because we can see Exactly what made tubbo the way he is through all of the streams we see of him. Also he’s just a select few I enjoy to watch while he’s on screen!

Why I don’t: honestly? I don’t think this is a matter of just dislike more of like. Something unnerving. He’s just kinda an asshole. But he’s a different kind of asshole than say, idk, ranboo. Ranboo is just a guy who’s pretentious in your history class. Tubbo is nice but not kind. Tubbo could very easily hurt people even on massive scales, and do it with a smile, because he’s already justified it in his head that it’s for the greater good, it’ll serve the collective many, even if it means he hurts the few. It’s not a matter of dislike it’s just something so Realistic in how disturbing it can be.

Favorite stream: basically all of his snowchester streams. My favorite has to be the interrogation stream he did with foolish. The atmosphere and later tubbo showing foolish pogtopia. It’s a real neat insight on tubbo as a character it’s a shame it’s not talked about moreZ

Favorite line: you expect me to choose 1? NOPE here’s all of them. (“You won’t die as long as you’re compliant.” / “You’ve undermined my authority from the get go!” / “hello minutes man” / “I don’t feel grief anymore, only anger.” / “I didn’t even get to say my goodbyes” / “do you know what ghandi does in civ 5?”)

Favorite outfit: the snowchester outfit is so cozy so. Being predictable and choosing that one.

BROtp: I don’t really have one? I dont really go all GAGA at clingy or bee duo or bench trio or like, any duos at all really. I sorta just consider myself a tubbo main. by himself

Headcanon: he is developing little wooden or plastic toys to go with the kids meals at tubburger- but it’s less about quackity’s profits and more about something nice for Micheal.

Unpopular opinion: oh god if I were to list Every unpopular opinion here I would be here all day. But like. I feel like c! Tubbo gets so Much leniency compared to the other characters on the dream smp, if that makes sense? And because of that liency (which isn’t itself the problem- more like some of the other characters don’t get Any) - the excess of leniency means that people just. Refuse to look what c Tubbo does in the face because they’re too busy giving him benefit of the doubt. Bc they have to or else you could get accused of villainnizing him. So no nuance whatsoever. For some reason I’ve never had to fight this hard to have basic acts and flaws Acknowledged at all let alone analyzed. It’s kinda frustrating.

Wish: I would love for the Cold War plot to come back. I want to see my little boy (the nukes)

when i joined the genshin fandom, you were one of the first blogs that i had run into, and that's pretty neat. at first, i didn't follow you, since i wasn't really used to your writing. but as i kept on encountering your works, i eventually grew accustomed to it- and i like your writing style! v swag :)

your oc, toxin, is just- perfection. i like the whole background thing, powers, but the fic i liked the most was the one where toxin attempts to poison you. my imagination can just run wild from there, picturing out what the character did after running out to go after toxin, but for zhongli's case how he took care of you + what he did after.

you, pocket, are a wonderful person- if you receive hate, you don't deserve it! 6000 seems like a large accomplishment, and it must've felt really nice to hit that number. a great person like you deserves the world, but the world may not deserve you. your presence alone on tumblr is practically a blessing, and i'm grateful for everything that you've wrote! not only that, but you've helped me become bolder and interact off anon. i think that's pretty neat, genuinely.

fandoms: hoo doggy. uhhhhh I wrote fic for Percy Jackson, Sherlock, the Avengers, and Doctor Who in Ye Olden Days on FF.net, but now I mostly write DMBJ fic, which, tbh, is really the only fandom that I like writing fic for at this point?? I think it’s because of the people lmao. And also the extremely versatile ways I can use the characters

two-shot: I don’t think I have a two-shot? I have some two-parter series, either finished or in the works, but for me it’s either one-shot or many-shots. I like two-shots though! They’re always very good bc More Content but with the neat formatting of a one-shot

most popular multi-chapter fic: A Swiftly Tilting Planet yooooooo! I mean to be fair it’s also my only multi-chapter fic but

actual worst part of writing: SUMMARIES i’m literally so bad at summaries. they’re all either short or don’t actually make sense bc I’m literally terrible at writing them. I also hate the feeling where the fic is all inside you and wants to come out but you don’t have enough time/energy/typing speed to get it out there quick enough

how you choose your titles: they’re usually song lyrics or lines from poems lmao. I’m also not great at titles. the FoBa Psychic Detective AU is gonna be called You Don’t Recognize the Bodies in the Water, which is from a weird-ass TikTok I saw the other day so uhhhhh take my titling ability as being Non-Existant

do you outline: YES ok so i was adamantly against outlining for like. my entire writing career bc i was like “it’s a waste of time, idk what’s going to happen, i find it out as i write” and then i outlined Swiftly Tilting and banged that one out SO fucking quick. Like, even just having a basic idea of where you want to go before you start makes writing SO much easier. how did i not discover this hack earlier. Also, you don’t even have to stick with it! You can change it as you discover things! Like! Ah! 

ideas you probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice: hmmmm i don’t know! There’s like! so many! and most of them I could conceivably get around to, but it might be awhile. I have a vague idea for a Swiftly Tilting prequel about the m9 ship crew, and also a Vincenzo fic about vinnie and luca being IN LOVE because they ARE but i don’t know if I have enough passion in me to write for that show. other than that, though, is just like. a veritable cascade of ideas waiting (ooohh like the Jia Kezi/Li Jiale ghost roommate oneshot based on the hit BL drama He’s Coming to Me? i would LOVE to write that one but idk if it will happen). aslighalkdsfjladkjf @vishcount I also had a SOTUS-dream last night where Arthit discovers a secret plot at the college that involves a gun full of bees that Kongpob’s mother developed and he has to keep it hidden from the Bad Guys who want to use it to create like, fuckin, superpowered swimmers?? also there was a lot of angst involved bc Arthit was a swimmer in high school for some reason and then something happened oh wait oh shit I realize why that was, it’s because Krist was in that one show where he played a swimmer in high school and it was very angsty. Ok my brain makes sense now. Also BTS was there.

best writing traits: oh gosh uhhhhhhh ok I don’t want this to sound like i’m bragging or full of myself but like. I’m fucking good at writing. There’s definitely stuff that I need to work on, and maybe i should edit things a little more but like??? bitch!!!! you’re good at this!!! this is your job!!! idk I spent so much time being like “aw shit what if I’m actually not that good what if everyone who reads my stuff is just being nice and saying that they like it and it actually sucks” but i’ve looked back on some of the things i’ve done recently and I’m like, actually a good writer. I mean I’ve been practicing for a long time, so it stands to reason that I would be decent by now. But SHIT like. I’m doing ok! and I’m still a baby! I can only get better! 

spicy tangential opinion: I don’t know if I really have any writing Hot Takes? oh wait i guess i do have one sort of. I think the “fake it until you make it” saying is also super applicable to writing, bc in college I was like “ok what if I just make this as Pretentious Sounding As Possible” and everyone was like “omgggg ur so goooodddd this proseee” and i was like “oh damn i didn’t realize that would work.” and now my ace ass writes straight p*rn romance novels for a living. like I genuinely don’t know what I’m doing half the time, but if you put your work out there with confidence and the knowledge that someone will want to read it, someone is going to read it. also u don’t have to know what a penis looks like to write Sex Involving Penises. You’ve just gotta be good at metaphors.

so @/dysaniadisorder​ posted this really cute zoom moxiety art and then i posted some selfies in a discord server and the reactions from that + this moxiety art got me feeling even more Fluffy than usual so here’s a very rambly au that i stream of consciousness wrote in half an hour lol 

idk about anyone else, but i had a pen pal through english class in middle school for a little while. so what if, patton and virgil meeting through being pen pals. patton's letters are as bubbly as his stories, he includes stickers on the pages and the envelope, and uses *so many* exclamation marks. virgil meanwhile, tends to write very little and mostly just in reaction to whatever patton said. because sure, the letters are sent to the school and they've been told not to give away personal information, but y'know... Just In Case.

except for one towards the end of the program, when patton really doesn't want to lose contact with virgil, so he shares his instagram. and he says no pressure of course i dont even know if you have an instagram but here it is if you ever wanna try to keep talking. and bc roman's his best friend, of course virgil has instagram (ugh). so of course he checks patton's profile. and oh *no* he's as cute as his bubbly handwriting and his stories and stickers and exclamation marks

virgil's never really mentioned this whole pen pal thing to roman, because roman's english teacher did not sign her class up for it and he knows roman would be jealous. but he made the mistake of checking patton's profile in roman's presence and if anyone's going to notice a Gay Panic™, it's roman

so of course roman grills virgil and virgil caves bc like what?? else is he gonna do?? but anyway, roman hits the follow button for virgil but then virgil throws his phone across the room and breaks it so can we get an f in the chat

meanwhile patton's studying with his step-brother logan when he gets a little chime from his phone and? oh a new instagram follow that's neat, who's [insert cool username for virgil]? except of course virgil's profile is private so patton has to follow back to see any photos. except virgil's phone is busted! bummer

cue virgil not getting a new phone for a week or two bc idk he's in trouble for breaking the old one to begin with and by the time he finally does get a new one, he totally spaces on installing instagram. so it's like a month and a half later when roman asks him why the heck he hasn't been liking roman's pictures that virgil remembers. and then he also remembers patton. *oh god patton* how could he ever forget, he is a fool, and patton probably hates him now, or he must be super worried, bc the pen pal program is over so they havent been writing and then he just disappeared off the face of the planet which?? well patton should have expected it a little because he did say it would be okay if virgil didnt want to keep in contact but *oh god patton*

virgil installs instagram and finds patton's follow request (and like 32 comments from roman demanding that virgil like his photos what kind of best friend is he smh)

and he accepts it 

and then while he's still riding his bravery high, he messages patton "hey it's virgil" and then Very Calmly sets his phone down before screaming into a pillow

meanwhile patton's busy cheering logan on at his swim meet but this does mean that he's posting all sorts of encouraging cheesy stuff to his story which means virgil is already getting a sneak peak into patton's life and wait oh my GOD is that his voice???????

virgil is very gay and he is having a Time

anyway patton also almost breaks his phone when he sees the follow request approved *and* the message!!! because lowkey , he considers virgil a pretty close friend!! he vented in some of those pen pal letters! said some things he couldn't bring himself to say to anyone else. and virgil was always so patient and kind and reminded him of all the good things to help and balance out the bad things.

so y'know, fast forward thru lots of instagram interactions. messaging each other late into the night. virgil always liking patton's photos and leaving a single "💜" comment on every one. they talk about roman - and how he's virgil's best friend and he may be dramatic and loud but he's reliable and genuine - and they talk about logan - and how patton wouldn't know anywhere near as much as he does w/out him and how they have sleepovers in the basement every saturday.

and fast forward to moving on from instagram to discord, and joining servers of fandoms they're both in. making a server for themselves + roman + logan (and *oh boy,* introducing roman and logan). sending silly memes and posts that "made me think of you", late night texting that ends with one sending the final “i guess you fell asleep, sweet dreams <3″ message, and the other sending the “oops i did, good morning <3″ message in return 

and sure, roman might post pictures on instagram of himself and virgil, but virgil's always half-in half-out of frame or he's blurry or he's looking away. and so one day, he posts a selfie in their friend server because he's just got his hair dyed purple and he's *so excited* and patton. patton didnt even have time to prepare can we get an f in the chat

there are a LOT of keysmashes and hearts lol

roman is still laughing by the time patton manages to calm down. patton sort of flat out demands for a group video call aljsdf

logan and roman, all this time obviously because they can't be out done, have already had plenty of personal voice and video calls themselves. sometimes it's just to help roman run lines or help logan study for a test. but they have been on the receiving end of patton and virgil gushing about their respective crushes so they're in full support of this tbh

so they set up a group video call that night, roman and logan like immediately muting themselves bc let's be real we all know the real reason behind this. patton is gushing about virgil and virgil's hair like, right off the bat, and virgil is slowly but surely disappearing into his hoodie and the lighting in his room isn't very good, but gosh patton is *melting* and then

and THEN

patton pauses to finally drink out of his cooling hot cocoa and virgil takes the opportunity to clear his throat and sit up a little out of his hoodie cocoon and says thank you

and y'all we thought virgil was all Gay Panic™ when he saw patton's face in photos for the first time? and then he broke his phone when roman followed patton for him?

Hmm, it's hard to be concise as I've had a complicated relationship with her to say the least. But I'm sort of trying to reach out intermittently (once in a couple months hah) again so that's something. But my mother is someone very in touch with nature and animals, she grew up in the countryside and is still very much a country girl as she now keeps goats, ducks, chickens, turkeys etc. She has told me that she has no need for antidepressants because she can just go to the forest, for example, which, well, shows both her medicine-hate and nature-love hah. She used to be very hardworking - she almost got a PhD in chemistry like my father but three kids and the house and a business was a bit too much to also write a thesis. Because of this and other things, she's.... currently I'd best describe her as horribly burnt out and depressed and self-depreciative. But she is easy to talk to, she will carry the conversation and she will tell her side eagerly and at least listen to yours - she both is probably lonely and has this need to be always presentable and talk to her family a bit like we're business partners she needs to convince which I used to hate, and she will tell you about how horrible she has it at the drop of the hat. When in a room with others, she will most often stay silent and listen, however, she used to say that she liked to just listen when me and siblings would talk. She has her own, mostly non-explicit ways of showing she cares, and you know, hey I managed to write a p alright summary that wasn't just unprocessed anger, yay for me. Pincushion: How do you deal with pain?

Mm, I assume this deals with physical pain. I've been quite lucky thus far and have no chronic pains except the normal millenial achy knees sometimes. Since I already mentioned above that I grew up in a pretty anti-medicine household, I didn't use an ibumetin or paracetamol for anything not mirstamā kaite (dying sickness) until I was like... 19. So I just kinda, uh, waited it out I guess? Which is largely still the mode of action for me nowadays, though now I usually take ibumetin, that's about it. I always thought I deal with pain p well and have a high tolerance and I definitely am quite good at pushing myself through it when needed but really I'd rather I didn't have to feel that toothache while having to focus on the paper or smth. I actually had pretty strong period cramps a week or so ago that I usually don't get and then I just... took one ibumetin, finished off the research paper, took another ibumetin because holy shit, complained to friends, played assassins creed until the pain faded a bit and got back to studying :D Also re: mental pain, well, I've had 2 years of therapy to sort of help with that, and I find the thing that works most reliably to me is the schema therapy caring parent/vulnerable child thing, I just sorta. Listen to the pain and hear it and then console it. Be your own parent 2kforever.

It's quite a cozy flat in an... hm, middle class neighborhood, the owner never shows up and we just pay the rent in his debit card, he's chill with us paying it late and when our stove sort of implodes he comes and buys a new one! I also live with sis which is p great, since, as my therapist pointed out, we've been negotiating how to live in each other's spaces literally since birth so we know how to co-exist (I like my space perhaps more than others - I don't particularly enjoy having friends over and I like that we have sort of come to an arrangement of kitchen is talk space and our rooms are less so). I used to think I didn't get attached to places but now with potential talks of moving that didn't end up anywhere I got so afraid of losing this sense of stability, a place to jump from that I didn't have as solid before. It's my gremlin cave and yes there's mold growing in places that we're too lazy/tired to try to deal with, and sometimes we play chicken about who will cave and wash the dishes or take out the trash, but hey, it's my gremlin cave.

Primrose: Describe your ideal life.

Hah, I've actually been on and off daydreaming about winning a million euros in lottery (a pal's gotta dream, alright :D). And then the scenario goes a bit like buy a house with a garden that me and sis and poosssibly my friends would live in, get a car and driving license, travel a bit, stop working at my current job and just vibe for a bit before either moving to the deep countryside and being a farmer or working in businesses as an anthropologist for sense of accomplishement. In the 99.99% case I do not win the lottery, however, I think working in a place where I can both excercise my brain and feel smart and appreciated about doing it would be great, I'm lowkey considering working as an anthropologist if I can wrangle a vacancy in some place. I think I'd like to either continue my slow, slow ventures into writing, or, since I've realized I'm pretty fucking amazing at realizing other's mistakes instead of my own and giving constructive criticism :D go into editing work. But who knows. I mostly want to get enough money to have a bit of property and a garden and be able to sometimes travel, and then a nice job is a luxury. Still sometimes thinking of moving just deep deep into the countryside and buying chickens. But I won't really make much money that way alas. you were both living respectively until he had to leave

one morning you just woke up and found his note

broke college life

Dreamt but all i can remember is staying at my cousins house, but as an adult. I think we bought the house? I wanted to take a bath but there was an issue w having a bunch of bath toys, so i wanted to buy a bamboo floating cabinet that had slats instead of solid bottom. The idea was to hang it above the tub high up and put bath toys in it so they could drip dry into the tub when you were done while also staying out of site. I think an earlier dream i was with my parents and we were trying to find a vehicle to escape? I couldn't find my water bottle either, so i figured they were together. Another snippet of dream i had replanted some cuttings a group of ladies gave me and they were very judgey of my yard back home and said we didnt have enough plants to attract pollinators.

Ive already done like a dozen art projects so far this year. In the journal I'm keeping, im writing a description and anything i learned or why i did a thing or how i felt. Then drawing a very shoddy sketch of what it is i made. Im not including music, just art and crafts. I think itll be fun to quantize all the neat little things ive worked on over the course of the year.

We finally had the completed ice cream last night. It was so good!! Making it was a drawn out process, but it was such a success. Im rly pleased.

Yesterday a package arrived from a coworker. Made up certificates after an especially painful project we had done last summer, and its hilarious. It was titled "convivial shared suffering". We had been making memes using pics of seals bc the company's name sounded like seal. On the certificate it had little pics of seals w the pixel glasses that said "seal with it", and this was on the outside of the package he sent..

Id share the cert too bc its flipping hilarious, but it has my full name on it. Its like the highlight of my yr so far though. 😂

ok, so i used to be active on this wattpad-esque website and a mutual made a fic about them that i read, despite knowing nothing about them. later that summer me and my little sister were wandering around on youtube at our grandparents house, where i saw Don’t Wanna Cry on the homepage and, recognizing the band from the fic, i clicked. then we watched Boom Boom, and then i looped that mother heckin video for the next six hours

Eurovision 2019 Opinions

Well, the 26 countries that will be participating in the final are official now, so here’s my in depth thoughts about each entry, ranked from least favorite to favorite along with explanations and a 10 pt rating system. honestly i thought this year was solidly mediocre. a few i really like, about 3 i can’t stand, and the rest are all smack dab in the middle of “decent”. of course, these are just my opinions and I totally get that people will disagree with them. i don’t really care. yeah there’s a few i’ll judge you for, but frankly my opinion shouldn’t matter to you. i’m just posting it for my own record and for anyone who might be curious

26. Slovenia (0/10) I know a lot of people like this entry, but frankly, I cannot stand it. It’s boring. It’s awkward. It’s uncomfortable. If I wanted to watch an m/f couple - or, you know what, any couple - stand really close to each other and mumble for three minutes, I - I don’t actually know where I’d go, because I can’t conceptualize myself ever wanting to see that.

25. Denmark (0/10) Again, why? This entry annoys me a lot, and the only reason I didn’t put it last was because I appreciate the use of more than one language. It’s my least favorite parts of all kids shows combined coupled with a message that honestly I disagree with. It feels a bit like she’s judging me for being upset at injustice in the world when I should just shut up and be happy about what I have. I’m sorry, but I don’t believe it’s acceptable to ignore atrocities just because my life is filled with good things. I could imagine this song being the welcoming number in a musical staged in one of those “everything is perfect on the outside but inside it’s the creepiest shit you’ve ever seen” towns that’s used to hypnotize the protagonist into not noticing the creepy shit

24. Estonia (1/10) I don’t honestly dislike this song, but it does bore me. He’s a mediocre singer with a mediocre song. Also I can’t get past the fact that he rhymes “this” with “this”. It distracts me and ruins the whole thing.

23. Czech Republic (2/10) I really didn’t like this one at first. It was irritating and the lyrics were weird. However, I surprisingly enjoyed the live performance. The lead singer has some charisma on stage. Good for him.

22. San Marino (3/10) No idea how he got to the final (I know it’s bc he’s a meme, but still), but I don’t hate the song. I don’t think it should win, but honestly, I think it’s fun. His voice is ridiculous, but I can stand it for three minutes.

21. UK (4/10) I definitely feel like this is the kind of generic song I’ve heard many times before, but he does a good job with it, and ultimately it’s alright. His hair makes me think of Finn Shelby from Peaky Blinders, but that’s neither here nor there.

20. North Macedonia (4/10) Honestly, I feel like I should like this song more than I do. She has a good voice, and the song has a good message. Unfortunately, it’s just never clicked with me, and I often find myself tuning out while listening to it.

19. Israel (5/10) I like his voice. He sells the emotion. Not a gripping song, by any means, but not bad. Some of the rhymes feel a little forced, like the lyrics were written specifically so that they would rhyme, rather than because they have meaning.

18. Germany (5/10) This one gets stuck in my head sometimes, but I’m okay with that. Tbh, I quite like it. Plus, the whole “sisters (but I’d say girls in general) are taught to tear each other down but need to build each other up instead” theme is one I wholeheartedly support. I spent too many years hating everything associated with girls because society told me to.

17. Malta (5/10) I go back and forth on this one a lot. Parts of it I like, parts of it I don’t. It feels a bit different to me, but not like, in a revolutionary way. The singer is strong, and it definitely gets the award for most colorful performance, literally!

16. Serbia (5/10) I feel like I’ve heard this entry before, too, but specifically at Eurovision. Still, she does a good job with it, and I like her armor-inspired jewelry. Plus, it’s not in English!

15. Belarus (5/10) Another one I go back and forth on. I find this is very good study music - energetic and repetitive enough not to be distracting. I don’t love it (I’m even hesitant to say I like it lmao), but people really ought to stop hating on her so much. She’s sixteen. Let her have her fun.

14. Albania (6/10) I really liked Albania’s entry this year tbh. I didn’t feel she sang as strong in the semi-final as she did in the music video, but otherwise I thought it was a very powerful song. The staging was pretty cool, too!

13. Azerbaijan (6/10) I loved everything about this except the refrain. The “shut up about it” bit starts to get on my nerves by about the second refrain. But the verses sounded cool and the staging was awesome!

12. Sweden (6/10) Not the most exciting song in the world, but he sounds good, the ladies sound great, and there’s nothing I dislike about the song or staging.

11. Cyprus (6/10) Not as good as the music video, sadly, but still catchy and fun. I didn’t really like it the first time I heard it, but it’s grown on me since. I felt bad for her being put on the spot with that one “are you mad about Cyprus losing last year” question.

10. Greece (6/10) Definitely grew on me. I tuned out of it the first time I heard it. Prior to the semi finals I thought it was alright. But she really gave us the lesbian dream, huh? Ladies with neat clothes and swords, plus a garden? What more can you ask for lmao

9. France (7/10) Feels kinda standard to me, but not in the worst way possible. Sometimes I get really into it, other times it’s just a nice song. I’ve been liking it a little bit more each time I hear it, though.

8. Netherlands (7/10) The favorite to win, and I’d be okay if it did. Not my favorite this year, but a solidly good song. I have to be in the right mood to want to listen to it, but when I am? Fucking amazing. Also, considering he never left the piano (and didn’t light it on fire), he gave a pretty good performance.

7. Spain (8/10) This song is so much fun, and it’s definitely going to end the competition on a high note. I’m also really curious to see the full version to know more about the life-size dollhouse and animatronic thing they’ve got going

6. Switzerland (8/10) I loved the music video more than the live performance, but regardless I thought this song was also really fun and, idk, snazzy? Love dancing to it while I fold laundry.

5. Australia (9/10) Australia’s staging was everything! I had them in the upper middle rankings until the semi-final, but honestly that looked cool as all fuck!! Her song is weird, but in a way that I can dig. Plus seeing her soar around like Glinda in space with two fellow witches is one of the highlights of Eurovision this year

4. Russia (10/10) Sergey is back and just like in 2016, I absolutely love him and his performance. I’ll admit, the shower thing was a bit weird, but the song sounded great live! Plus, he had a leg-up for me by going with fairy tale imagery in the music video.

3. Norway (10/10) Initially, I only liked the joiking. The other two singers have grown on me, though. This song is fun, the staging is cool, the singers are great, and then it gets quiet and the joik part comes in, and it’s so fucking cool!! Love it, love it, love it!

2. Italy (10/10) My favorite for a long time, only bumped out because I made the fortuitous mistake of watching Iceland’s interviews. I love the song. I love the message. The thing that impressed me most, though, was that this song is about something that isn’t even remotely close to anything that’s happened in my life. I do not relate to it at all. But despite having no personal connection to the topic, I could feel the emotion in it. For a brief three minutes, I could feel something that isn’t my reality but is the reality of many other people. And an artist who can do that is powerful indeed.

1. Iceland (10/10) If you couldn’t tell from the everything about my blog, I have firmly joined the camp of Hatari stans. It may surprise you, but I didn’t really like this song the first time I heard it. Then, I found out the meaning behind it and gave it another chance. Lo and behold, I liked it! It rose in my rankings from lower-middle to the number one spot between listening to it multiple times and watching all the Hatari content I could get my hands on. I totally understand the music being too far for some people, but as a metalhead during the not-Eurovision parts of the year, Hatari isn’t too far of a leap for me. I love the song. I love the staging. I love the costumes. I love the message. I love the band. I love how they interact with each other and everyone else. I love the bits on Iceland Music News. I love their trolling and sarcasm in the interviews. I love the anti-capitalism. I love their websites (seriously, check them out. they put a lot of effort into them). I love the way they approach issues that are important to them. I love the fact that they aren’t afraid of the tough subjects. I especially love that they aren’t trying to walk the popularity line (you see it all the time - for example, queerbaiting, where a tv show wants to appeal to all sides of an issue, so they make characters nearly lgbtqia+ but then throw in enough straightness to please conservatives). Hatari picks their side in each issue instead of trying to cater to everyone, and I respect that a lot. My reactions and emotions aren’t usually prominent or even necessarily visible, but there’s a chance I might actually cheer if they win.

Finally, the honorable mentions, aka countries that didn’t make it to the final but that I would’ve loved to see:

Hungary (in my original top 10) - loved him last time, loved him this time. Beautiful song, beautiful voice, beautiful staging

Georgia - my hopes weren’t high but that doesn’t mean I didn’t love it. There’s nothing quite like a good dramatic song, and this was as dramatic as they come

Portugal/Poland - the two most people were really miffed about in the first semi-final; I think they’d’ve been alright in the semi-final, but both depend entirely on my mood. sometimes I love, sometimes I hate

Croatia - the song was ‘meh’, the singer was fantastic, and the staging was Eurovision in all the right ways

Armenia - one of my early favorites. could’ve used some other people on stage, but otherwise I thought she did wonderfully

Romania - what can I say that hasn’t been said already? she brought everything! that was an experience and an amazing one at that. so disappointed she didn’t make it

and of course,

Ukraine - catchy, badass, wacky, and wlw? sign me the fuck up. So sad to hear what happened to her. I know people are saying this is why politics should be kept out of music, but that’s ridiculous. The real issue is when the issue/message isn’t coming from the artist. It should always be up to the artist’s discretion what they do or do not promote. Propaganda and censorship go hand in hand, which is why I am so bothered by the blanket statements I hear thrown around about Ukraine’s fiasco this year

And that’s all! I think I’ll be happy with anyone scoring a 7 or higher for me winning on Saturday. I wouldn’t be upset about a 6 winning either, I suppose.

sonic forces but its that one theory

okay so there’s that theory where like, infinite and gadget were friends pre-Forces (kinda ties into a theory about infinite’s backstory and stuff) and while i doubt that this theory is gonna happen (like im not getting my hopes up yall im just gonna go with whatever sonic team hurls at us) i wanted to have a little fun anyways bc why tf not

im developing a like. prequel based off of this theory that just follows their life up until the events of the game, but in all honesty i doubt im gonna ever do more than prewriting and planning for it so i decided to share some ideas for the two's personalities and the like.

while infinite is slow and contemplative, gadget bursts and bubbles with energy

mostly he’s just excited; he’s in general rather bombastic and immediate in his self expression

only downside is he’s usually not in town so its harder to visit infinite

likes to recreate weapons from video games and anime

just in general likes the flashy stuff more than practical creations

often draws out blueprints for whatever fictional contraptions infinite talks about in his short stories

sometimes forgoes the electrical aspect and just outright makes final fantasy-type swords in his basement for fun

pretty happy with current life but wouldn’t mind moving out with infinite and sharing an apartment

granted an apartment wouldn’t have the room he’d need for his equipment but that’s fine as long as he’s with infinite

would probably leave the equipment back at home and travel out on weekends to do his mechanic stuff

during the week/whenever he couldn’t travel back home he’d put more focus into drawing out and selling blueprints on the internet (there’s enough space in an apartment to do that)

tactile and affectionate

is okay with rainy days when w/ infinite because guess what? time to hang out and watch netflix while they both huddle under a blanket for warmth

infinite supports gadget even tho he doesn’t like sonic a whole lot bc goddammit a happy gadget is a blessing
