#this is in regards to Amazon going after fan-made Hazbin merch on Etsy #because there really are issues on both sides here #one: if Spindelhorse/BentoBox/Amazon had finalized the merch thing BEFORE the series finished airing #they would have been making BANK because people are CLAMMORING to buy official merch that isn't the shitty Amazon shirts #and popsockets #like let's not even mention the fact that anyone who bought the pre-show package is STILL WAITING ON THEIR PLAYBILLS #but for the fan-merch makers... I feel like some people got too comfortable being able to list merch verbatim #when anyone who makes fan-merch of things like Pokemon/Nintendo IPs/etc #will tell you that 'hey if you want to survive you better break out that thesaurus and start getting creative with your labeling'#don't even get me started on the mishandling of the trading cards...

now that i have rereread iwtv i realize that rolins is godsent wallahi this show would be doa if we got a one to one straight adaptation and not because of any content issues or the moral constitution of a modern audience but because that shit would have been boring as hell. like change the channel, scroll thru twitter diy lobotomy sesh boring. love the book, truly a formative masterpiece but if i had to sit through it in visual format id kill myself

#yaz chats to the void #interview with the vampire #its the same reason why i watched the movie three times. once when i was a kid and it introduced me tvc #once after the pilot aired and immediately found the movie grubby in comparison #and once with great effort after the finale of the show to see how it held up and my eyes glazed over #meanwhile i have read the book cover to cover six or seven times #some things are unadaptable and or some things work better in literary format #was gonna say that the show wouldve been a series of guys talking in rooms like it already isnt lmaoooo #but its done cleverly and with panache #and the changes made to all the characters is what elevates the story #moan about it all you want but its the truth

i know im not breaking new ground for saying legend of korra is disappointing but so much of the series is genuinely off putting to me. the setting, the tone, how the narrative tortures korra it feels like

which is a shame because I love korra as a character (even if her writing isn't The best at times). but there are so many aspects of the show I don't like. fuck there's so many characters in the show I dont even like either

I dont WANT to know how the first avatar came to be or why the spirit world exists #THE MYSTIQUE WAS WHAT MADE IT SO APPEALING #THE EXISTENCE OF BENDING WAS EXPLAINED BY PEOPLE OBSERVING NATURE AND IMITATING IT. OR BEING TAUGHT SPECIFIC ANIMALS #NOT BECAUSE OOHH LOOK THE LION TURTLES GAVE IT TO PPL TO TRAVERSE THE SPIRIT WILDS.... lame!! throughout the series of drake and josh it pretty consistently implies that josh nichols is a christian (josh peck is jewish) and in the finale of the series helen (played by yvette nicole brown, not jewish[?]) is portrayed as a practicing jew

#i dont have a problem w either of those things necessarily i just find it interesting #if i had to guess. drake and josh was a mainstream that didnt wanna touch on religion generally #but josh was kind of a dork and usually when josh's religious beliefs are implied it is in dorkish ways #such as praying and thanking the lord after he has his first kiss.#but since dan schneider is jewish perhaps he wanted to make helen have a jewish wedding in the finale?#not that there needs to be a reason. but u do notice occasional jewish-related jokes in d&j but none of them are what you could call #offensive. in good faith that is. 'eric is a pacifist' 'i thought he was jewish?' like come on #text post #i have been rewatching drake and josh recently and i have had so many thoughts #im almost done. i just have left that stupid dance episode that they premiered last for the stupid reason #of a special dance-themed premiere night in fall 2007. they premiered the third episode of icarly and a new zoey 101 on the same night #which i think is so stupid. they should've aired really big shrimp last. it messed w my understanding of the series at the time lol #i remember not really knowing that the show was ENDING. like i knew icarly was starting & miranda was doing that #i thought really big shrimp was like just another special like go hollywood.#and then like two days later they premiered the helicopter episode for some reason #and i was like why is drake not famous in this. he just had a number 1 song in a superbowl commercial #and then a month later the dance one. which. if anything is satisfying about that as a final episode it's just that #that unnamed girl from the blues brothers episode who is obsessed w drake shows up again and congratulates them #and the very final line of the series is 'who is she?' because. because really who IS she?#that's a funny enough throwback to wrap things up with i suppose #drake and josh wasn't a highly serialized show so i can see how they could air those after the intended finale and act like it didn't matte #but i have to tell you it did fuck with my brain a bit at the time. lol. i still think of those episodes as having 'happened' after #and on paramount plus those episodes are still placed after really big shrimp. the injustice #but thats kinda messy. what a weird way to end such an influential and popular sitcom #season 4 had a few lowpoints while still also having some VERY solid episodes.#idk. ill have to continue my series review another time im getting way too longwinded here #helen dubois is jewish

Love in the Air: Sky x Prapai Crumbs (Episode 6)

Poor Prapai just can’t catch a break. He finally finds Rain alone and is about to ask the golden question ‘can I pretty please ask about your absolute adorable hottie of a friend who came along with you last time? -because I haven’t been able to get him off my mind and I’m going stir-crazy if I don’t find out soon’. But lo and behold, we and he cannot have nice things because (of course) he’s rudely interrupted, and we’ll all have to collectively hold our breaths until Episode 8 to get the answer. They are unashamedly dangling Prapaisky in front of us like a carrot.

We do however learn two other interesting titbits of information.

Prapai introduces himself as P’pai to Rain. What do we think Sky will refer to him as? My hunch is that our sassy Sky may forgo convention and purposely assign an aptly irritating nickname for him to get a rise. At least at first.

Secondly, Prapai is currently the number one racer within their circuit. In which case that shit-eating grin is well-deserved (for more than one reason).

Little Behind the Scenes gem below ‘I wish Sky was here, he isn’t here today’.

terribly sorry for progressively getting more and more annoyed and tired with jn. this show kinda gets a lot more exhausting on a rewatch when you know its not going to get better

#i think what happened when it was airing was that like. it was the direct successor to sun and moon right?#and that was a show EVERYONE shat on when it got revealed. the setting the art change the shift to a goofier style etc etc #but then it aired and aside from some hiccups while adjusting the first few eps- sm turned out to be a joy of a show #not just for a casual watch- you can tune on most episodes without context and just have a pleasant time bc its a cozy show #but also if youre more into the battle scene bc this series kinda goes hard on them #and while the episodes had a goofier tone to them the episodes never felt like they were talking down to its audience #everyone brings up the deaths and how maturely they were handled but seriously- they didnt need to go that hard on the minior episode #and yet- it took fans a long time to really come around to it and stop giving it bad faith criticism #the most popular youtubers were finding every excuse to shit on it and mock the fans #so i think when jn was announced with another slight art shift and a different format- i think we all got a little defensive over it #like hey sm had hiccups too! jn just needs some time to grow into itself and find its footing #and we had no reason to think it wouldn’t. like there were some red flags like how mimey was handled and some clickbait episodes #but we got genuinely nice episodes back then too! the scorbunny eps were neat and ash and gohs intro eps are great #the pichu opening is REALLY strong and i thought it showed a ton of promise for the show #the leon and eternatus stuff was being set up #so i waited for jn to pick up and waved off a lot of criticism as bad faith bc hey. ppl were ruthless to sm and forgetting that we do have t #to work with the limit that its a childrens series. which is fine.#but well…… suddenly we’re in the final arc and its not better. its worse. holy shit did it get worse #episodes like the drizzile one were now the exception. not the rule.#most episodes that are pleasant on a first watch became an absolute slog on a rewatch #the ‘’fanservice’’ feels more like a marketing ploy than an attempt to respect the characters. the production value was a goddamn mess.#entire arcs went unresolved #so it gave me rose tinted glasses until it all fell apart at once for me at the end #but now i have the joyful experience of watching the whole thing through knowing damn good and well it gets worse. yay #echoed voice #jn lb
