tak would loveee a confident girl who almost plays into the “hard to get” trope, as cliche as it sounds. he’s a big baby but is also the type to let intrigue walk him like a dog, therefore he’s probably the only member that would “chase” a girl until she finally opens her heart to him (and she eventually would, because honestly, who can resist him?). i think he’s the one who i would say has a combined tastes of all of the members. he’s very sensitive despite his light hearted nature, so i think he would value someone who can be in tune with his emotions and doesn’t shame him for it (kind of like soulie!). i think he would also really enjoy a fashionable gal who matches his own aesthetic, very slick with dark color palettes and silver jewelry! i think some canker sore girls might roll their eyes at this but i honestly think he would really be attracted to someone who models or does some type of work in the fashion world, not for superficial reasons, but because he enjoys that sorta thing!

i don’t think that shota has too specific of a preference for personality types, and it doesn’t really make a difference to him if you’re incredibly outgoing or very shy. he honestly just wants a partner that can silently understand him in a way most people can’t, someone who isn’t judgmental and just perceives who he is as something normal, something lovable. as long as that mutual understanding and trust is present, he’s not the picky type, in terms of personality, looks, style, hobbies, etc..! if he had to choose though, i think he’d want to be with someone who can bring him out of his shell when needed, not forcibly of course, but someone with just a general confident and friendly aura would inspire him to attempt to match your energy. (this is obviously very keeho inspired, since soul has always mentioned how comfortable he is with him, i think he would fit really well and be very happy with a girl who has similar vibes as kyo!). but like i said, the only thing that really matters to him is mutual understanding :3

This one might seem slightly unimportant but write somewhere that autosaves your draft. PLEASE!! THE WORST FEELING IS SPENDING SO LONG ON SOMETHING AND IT GOES DOWN THE DRAIN WITH ONE ACCIDENTAL CLICK OUT 😭 I use Google docs, but Tumblr saves drafts, too, you just need to have good Internet!!

You have to be in a mood - doesn't have to be a 😈mood😈 but just a mood where you really WANT to write and you're passionate about it. I find that writing out of sheer need is a lot better than forcing yourself to, and the quality always comes out sm better!!

Don't be afraid to take inspo from anything that gives you inspo - music, books, your own experiences. Kinda ties in with the second point about getting in a mood, list down things that make you want to write, and when you want to write - WRITE!

Editttttttttt BUT ONLY WHEN YOU'RE HYDRATED N' AFTER A NAP. I find this to be the best, most sane version of me so honestly don't stress about getting writing AND editing done on the same day.

so!! i actually use SRWE to take my photos :)

when you take a screenshot, it captures the image exactly as it's shown on your screen. but sometimes, the game’s resolution (the sharpness or detail of the image) might not be high enough, especially if you're using a lower screen resolution or want better image quality

SRWE is a hotsampling tool that upscales the quality of screenshots by artificially increasing the resolution of the image before you take your screenshot (i take mine on a 3360x2400 resolution!)

I recently bought the jp volumes of Hellsing along with the guidebook, and since I'm reading the series in its native language for the first time I might as well share some random things that stood out to me in no particular order.

This isn't meant to be an analysis of translation differences, I'm too lazy for that. Also it's been 12 years since I've watched the anime and read the low quality fan scans of the manga so some of these comments are just "Lol, forgot this was a thing"

Volume 1

... I really want to know who this guy is at the beginning, yelling at Alucard in overly familiar language to "Get your shit together!" and "You're the only one we can count on!!". We know from the style of speech that it's a dude, probably just some Hellsing rando, and maybe it's not all that strange since he has probably been working with the same soldiers for years--but it's still funny.

"I know, it's just so nice out :("

..The way "HELLSING Organization" is spelled out like this reminds me that apparently the name is supposed to be an acronym. No really.

Now that I think about it, the only thing Seras has done this chapter since being turned into a vampire is say "I'm sorry" over and over.... girl you got shot in the lung, why are you apologizing

Not a huge difference, but what Integra actually says here is "Leaving a corpse here for 20 years... You're a terrible person too, Father" and not "What were you thinking, Father?" as the Dark Horse translation suggests (note the lack of question mark in the raw version). I thought that might be of interest to some.

Something else I thought was interesting is the first line Alucard ever says to Integra, and how uncharacteristically polite he sounds.

O-kega wa gozaimasenka- That's two honorific 御's back to back! (He even said them in kanji, even Walter isn’t that straightlaced and he’s literally the butler.) This is also the only time Alucard uses this overly flowery gentlemanly language with her, and good thing too because it would be so annoying if he spent the whole manga ending his sentences with ~gozaimasu.

What I'm trying to get at is, after seeing this sentence in the Japanese version, I'm like 100% sure he actually heard her when she was mumbling to herself about hoping to find a knight in shining armor, and he was totally going the extra mile in playing into that role for their first encounter. Which is kind of sweet.

Lol they misspelled Alucard on the top left... or rather, they incorrectly spelled it right?

One would normally expect Alucard to be written アルカード, and indeed pixiv dict lists アーカード as a misspelling (the u sound is weak in Japanese, so it's easy to mishear arukādo as ākādo). Hirano was definitely aware of the correct spelling though, since he used it in the pilot chapter and in his old character sheets. It was only when the manga officially began that he switched to the アーカード spelling. I doubt it was because of copyright issues because there is already a long precedent of vampire characters named アルカード in various old manga, OVA, and games in Japan that have coexisted without issue (like this guy Hirano mentions in volume 1's afterword).

Most likely Hirano simply thought it looked better, or was a means of differentiating his character from the others somehow. It certainly makes life easier for Japanese fans searching for fanart since アーカード is only going to bring up Hellsing and not the Castlevania character.

Jan Valentine even pokes fun at the spelling discrepancy later in volume 2, but since there wasn't a good way of expressing this in English it was left untranslated.

(Speaking of spelling inconsistencies, there's a lot of minor details I'm noticing now, like half the time the furigana for 吸血鬼 is written バンパイア and the other half it's ヴァンパイア... anyway)

Hirano's habit of jotting random comments underneath his panels is one of the underrated perks of reading the manga

The Dark Horse translation almost makes it sound like she's looking forward to seeing this battle play out, while in the Japanese she simply sounds apprehensive. Almost as if she's worried about them? And she's going out on the field personally to make sure nothing bad happens? Aww

Ok this is a weird tangent, but I just noticed the scans of the Dark Horse version I've been looking at use a slightly larger image range than the Japanese version does. It was only noticeable when I got to this part:

The second image is what the Japanese version of the scan looks like and I can confirm that this is what it looks like in my physical volume as well. You shouldn't be seeing the messy borders of the inking on the bottom like that.

Manga manuscripts are set up so that there are a few millimeters of bleed border around each page. You're supposed to color and line all the way up to (4) while keeping in mind that printing and paper cutting may result in the image being trimmed up to (3).

Either Hirano didn't color his lines all the way to (4) (this man has been drawing manga for years but this is Hirano we're talking about so it's very possible), or Dark Horse didn't honor the original bleed borders of the manuscript. I'm kind of leaning towards the former since there was a Hellsing exhibit in Japan a few years back where you could look at Hirano's original manuscripts and there's one where you can clearly see that he spilled a mug of tea or coffee across the entire page

Anyway, it's weird, and I'm curious to see if someone that owns a physical copy in English can confirm whether theirs actually looks like that. It's volume 1, page 141.

Marble-ous Beverage

Summary: Olly is happy to take the scraps from the marble structures that his Cousins in the Blood Angels and their successor chapters make after finishing carving a pieces. After testing the quality of the marble. He sorts into what can be used to make pavement, what he'll snack on, and what can be made into carbonated beverages as gifts for his brothers :)

Olly is humming to himself and is glad as he carefully helps clean up the mess that comes from making statues out of stone, particularly marble.

Once he has all of the pieces swept up. The marble dust will be sifted through and sent to help with making better quality building structures.

Some of the smaller pieces he nibbles on to test and taste the quality of the marble and smiles to himself. It's of a high enough quality to help make carbonated beverages.

He double checks on the Ancient Terran version of the Noosphere for a moment before nodding. He can gather the supplies to make flavored carbonated beverages.

He's swung by the nearby forest and was careful, of course, to only pick some of the fruits and vegetables that grows wild, making sure not to over harvest so that the native wild life and the plants will still be able to grow next season.

He goes to the community larder to check to out to see if the rest of the ingredients are there. Happily that is the case as he cleans up and washes his hands and arms.

Making sure that the bottles that he will be using for the carbonation process are properly sterilized and dried carefully. He hums to himself as he makes the carbonated beverages, weighing, measuring, mashing cooking, waiting for it to cool.

Tasting it through out the process and adding it all to the various bottles with a funnel as he carefully labelled them and put them in the place that it's recommended to be for the carbonation process to do it's job.

He makes sure to clean up the communal kitchens that he had used when making the beverages. He's made two dozen hopefully carbonated beverage's, and even if they aren't fizzy, at least they will be tasty. Or at least he hopes that's the case.

He checks on them 'burping' the bottles every few hours or so as needed and is happy with the level of carbonation as he carefully loads up the various bottles of not-soda and writes the names of his fellow primaris brothers on each of the bottles he wants to give to them.

Finding his brothers as they are all busy doing this or that. Able to either give it to them, or to put it where they will find it on their work station. So long as some nosy first born doesn't try to snatch it up.

He also sends a bottle or two for each of Claude's Claw members of the Night Lords. He also puts one on Hura's desk, after visiting the Chaos Base- and talking with Claude- who happily accepts the home made carbonated beverages with enthusiasm.

"Thanks Olly," Claude says, "I'll enjoy this- and so will the others."

"You're welcome Claude," Olly says with a small grin.

He looks at his carefully packed bottles, oh dear. He still has about ten bottles left over after handing out a bunch to his brothers and keeping in reserve the two he likes the best for himself.

Hm...

He checks to see where Chaplain Feldarim is- out of office- put places the bottle on his desk. And where Chaplain Bo'shan is- another person who's taken Ramiel under his wing and as a thank you gift also gives him a bottle of carbonated fruit.

One for the Base Commander- sneaking it onto his desk without being noticed. He makes a face to himself, but turns and heads to where Zariel the 'Ultramarine' Apothecary's desk is and places one on his desk as well.

Despite being Teal he has been rather helpful for Cedric and the others from what they have told him. So- increasing social bonds and positive contact is important.

Damn he still has four bottles left over. Well... Maybe he should ask Cedric if he wants to take these to his older brothers Roland and Arnault?

He doesn't know them as well as Cedric and Ramiel do, but they always seemed happy whenever Cedric made food stuffs and had enough left over to share. Hopefully they'll like this as well.

Cedric is happy to tote the bottles to Roland and Arnault- and somehow Olly is also roped into going along to head over the lightly carbonated drinks.

"Oh- Thanks for the homemade carbonated drinks," Miss Angela had said a little surprised, but happy about getting it.

She takes a sip of the fizzy, fruity water and says, "This is delightful."

"I'm glad you like it," Olly says a little shyly.

Cedric takes him to Roland and his Bonded humans bakery. It always smelled so good and was wonderfully always busy with people buying and eating the delicious baked goods that are being sold.

One of the baseline humans noticed the pair of them and ducked into the back and Cousin Roland showed up and greeted the pair of them. Cedric tells him, "Olly made some carbonated beverages- they are safe for baseline consumption."

"I made a lot," Olly says, "And I wanted to give you and Miss Backerin some."

"Danke," Roland said with delight as he accepted the gift of home made fruit carbonated water.

One of them is a gorgeous purple-ish color and Olly explains that he got that color from the black berries. While the other one is more of a reddish color. Which was from the strawberries. They talk for a bit, Cedric and Olly buying some of the brot and sweets and head back to Base.

Madara and Izuna

- Madara is totally intimidated, even if he doesn't say so, but Izuna sees it as a challenge. Both are happy to have the same soul mate, having built an intrinsically interdependent relationship after losing their siblings. As a survival method, they built a safe place between the two, divine ground, where they know everything is fine.

- When the Uchiha leader finds out, feels that divine calling, the signs that his soul bond is awakening, the last thing he expects is to share it with (Y/N). Of course not because of anything bad, but because we are talking about the strongest woman in the whole fucking village, imagine saying something that annoys her and getting punched in the face? No thanks.

- What he doesn't expect is that Izuna feels it too, with exactly the same person, and comes with a huge smile to tell him about it. Once they both define being linked by fate, they have to agree on what to do.

- Izuna, the complete opposite, wants to rush out to find her, win her over, seduce her, ignoring the fact of probably ending up sunk in the ground with a few broken teeth. They can't just propose to (Y/N) like that, and she probably felt the call too, so Madara convinces him to wait.

- When a week passes and there is no news, Madara is equal parts calm and frustrated. He wants to have her, of course he does, she's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, a privilege to be bound for life to her, but it's terrifying to have to go in search of her love.

- Izuna, getting ruled by annoyance, insists on going himself in person, but the Uchiha leader prefers to send a letter first. Of course, they receive no reply, and his younger brother sneaks out in the middle of the night to woo her with his incredible seductive skills.

- Needless to say, Izuna returns with a bruised face and some broken teeth, as Madara anticipated, but this only excites him even more. He loves rough girls.

Shisui and Itachi

- Similar to the previous couple, Itachi and Shisui share a bond that escapes any kind of rational analysis, essential to each other, necessary to exist. Sharing is something they do every day, always together.

- Itachi is prudent in the face of the divine bond, knowing the reputation and glory (Y/N) maintains, with no desire to earn a capture request from her clan. First, he talks it over with his best friend, out of habit, as he always does with absolutely everything that happens to him, and then they both realize to be in the same situation with the same person.

- Shisui, a bit more mindless and adventurous, suggests they both go to visit her with a bouquet of flowers and declare themselves to her. Nothing better than some good old-fashioned seduction.

- Itachi fails to persuade him of his foolishness, but in fact, his ability to sweeten (Y/N) ears is so good he gets them both an interview with her, explaining a bit of the whole situation. The trick was not to try to flatter her for her wonderful beauty or the power of her raw strength, but to give nice words for all her effort with the clan, for the respect people have for her, for the quality of warrior she is.

- Shisui, unlike Izuna, uses politically correct words and a fine and sober speech, avoiding mentioning the obvious and looking for the stilted points she will enjoy. His wit allows them to sit down for tea with their soul mate.

- (Y/N) allows herself to be courted, but with delicacy and class, no crude attempts to get into her bed or become distasteful because of her beauty. She proposes to both Uchiha that they earn her people's respect, build a positively popular image among her folk, and should they do so, she will accept them both.

The Joy of Theremins

We interrupt our regular blogging to bring you a special report on our absolute favourite topic at G-F Resonance Towers: IMAI HISASHI’S THEREMIN!

Due to an extraordinary alignment of the kindness of longterm fans in Japan, and sheer blind luck, I was able to speak (though a translator) with what is known in the music journo business as Sources Close to Buck-Tick, hereon referred to as “SCBT”. (Please don’t ask how. I will not tell you. I’m very aware that words like ‘London’ and the name of the music magazine I used to write for can open a lot of doors that are not available to others.) I did independently confirm the veracity of this source, so I’m 99.9% sure they are who they say they are, and that they do know what they are talking about. However, for contractual reasons, I cannot name this source.

Note: neither SCBT nor our translator are native English speakers. I will use the words as they were conveyed to me, edited only for spelling. I’ll try to provide notes for context, or where I feel the technical aspects are unclear.

I had time for 3 questions, so I took my shot with these:

Why did Imai switch from the Big Briar to the Moog Theremini?

Did Imai find the Theremini easier to play tunes, because he seemed to become a lot more melodic with it  e.g. on BOOGIE-WOOGIE (I loved what he was doing with it, hence why I was disappointed when he stopped using it)

How does he find the latency on the Theremini? I've heard other theremin players complaining it's not as responsive as earlier models, is that just Old Folks Not Liking Change?

Technical context: from around 1997 until the early 2020s, Imai used a Big Briar Etherwave theremin live onstage. (Big Briar was the brand name that Bob Moog used during a copyright dispute.) This instrument provided the haunting, alien, outer-space tones that form the background of songs like MY FUCKIN’ VALENTINE, showcased best in the Sweet Strange Live Film:

In the early 2020s, Imai switched to the Moog Theremini. You can see Imai playing this model in live versions of Boogie-Woogie. As you can see, he’s able to generate far more melodic, solo style riffs from this instrument:

This model was designed to be easier to play, so it came with an in-built pitch corrector, functioning similar to the frets on a guitar. This means that the player does not have to maintain the exact position of the fingers to produce a note that is in tune. However, some older theremin players have complained that the new controller increases the latency - rather than playing the note in real time, there is a tiny, split second delay in the change of tone when you move your fingers to change notes.

My translator relayed my questions, and replied with this. (The “I” of this text is the translator. “He” sometimes refers to Imai, and sometimes to the opinions of {SCBT} - I will try to differentiate where unclear)

(Imai) switched from the briar to the mini mostly for aesthetic reasons, even though he could do more with the briar, it was too big and worked better for stage performances but he likes recording more with the mini. The delay in response time actually helped aid him to drag out notes To add to this I don't know if {SCBT} was referring to dragging out notes or having a cleaner finish to the notes (the words {SCBT} used could have meant either, Japanese can be vague and so can Imai), but he found the delay to be more beneficial to record with The mini is easier to play because it’s less bulky but the quality and technicality is less, which is what he really loved about the briar. His briar actually sustained some damage so he had to use the mini full time and it was frustrating at first but he really came to enjoy the process {SCBT} wants me to thank you for asking about it He mentioned it (the Briar) was built for him (…) language made it unclear when {SCBT} just said 'yes, built!' with no further elaboration but that was my take He said due to circumstances with the briar, he was unable to use it for recording at that time. I interpreted that as damage/repairs

About the Briar being ‘built’. Back in the mid-90s, Bob Moog originally released the technical specifications for building theremins on the internet, and sold kits of the components which had to be assembled at home. Later on, it became possible to buy pre-assembled theremins. (The Theremini, for example, comes fully assembled.) This ‘built’ comment makes sense with the timing too - Imai started using a theremin early enough that it sounds like his model had to be built from a kit.

tl:dr: Imai stopped using the Big Briar because it got damaged. Originally, he preferred the Big Briar because the Theremini had limitations. However, like many creative people, limitations actually spurred his creativity, and he came to use the Theremini full time.

i was gonna explain rly long with words but im really bad at explaining stuff so im gonna like go thru my progress step by step!! undercut bc it might be a bit long and sorry if this is more than u asked 4/not what u wanted but i thought this was the best way to explain!! i use photoshop 2020 so im not sure how itll translate to other versions but it cant be thattt different.

(also heavy disclaimer i dont. claim to know what im doing and this will be very similar to this tutorial because this is how i relearned <3)

starting from when you have the frames you want (this is a. particularly short gif i apologise ive just been wanting to gif this for a while. i rarely if ever limit to every 2 frames because i find it makes the gif fast and jumpy ><) i select all frames and set the delay to 0.08

then i convert to timeline

and once ive converted to timeline i select all layers (i use alt+control+a but u can also find it in the select drop down menu!!) and convert for smart filters

once its a timeline + converted for smart filters, i crop and resize to 540px wide. i <3 a 7:5 ratio but honestly whatever u like is good!!!

then once resized i sharpen using smart sharpen and honestly use whatever sharpness you want/whatever you think looks good. i always have the amount maxed out and then adjust the radius and reduce noise. for this one ive gone 0.6px radius and 3% reduce noise but like i said whatever works for whatever scene you're working with. when the video quality is higher (and/or the shot is really close to the characters faces) ill bump up the radius to like 0.08 and when its worse/further away ill lower the radius down to like 0.02 but its like case by case. its not fixed either if you dont like how it looks u can always adjust by double clicking the smart sharpen under your smart object. thing. i dont know the technical name. it migiht look a little sharper than u think looks nice when still but it translates better when its Moving and in the final product if you get me <3

then i go in with curves and levels. ill brighten it up with the curves and then adjust the general balance with levels! (if you're struggling with a jumping off point and dont wanna just play around until you find what looks good, i use the jumping off point from the tutorial linked at the beginning of a brightness/contrast layer at 60 brightness and 25 contrast then auto curves and levels and then adjust if needed!!) again the contrast might be a bit higher than u think looks nice stiill but when you come to export i think it makes it easier and nicer you know?

then i go in with a selective color layer and just sort of. play around with each value until it looks nice to me!! i try to balance out the brightness here using the black white and neutral values if im not happy with it and also eliminate any color noise here and bring colors that i dont really care about in line with other colors in the image so they dont take up. space we only have 256 to work with.

then i do a color balance layer if im unhappy with how it looks still

at this point i realised i wanted it a bit brighter so i went back down and put in a brightness and contrast layer below my curves

then i went with a photo filter layer because i love cooling filter (82) and it needs to be locked away from me because i use it in. everything.

then i choose either diffusion or pattern when exporting. for palette i ususally go adaptive or perceptual but iim going to be so honest i can very rarely tell the difference unless its a. particular difficult one. this one wasnt thank GOODNESS. transparency unchecked unless ive already trimmed it down as much as i can and still cant get it under 10mb and its the only way but even then a lot of the time i cant tell the difference.

and then im done!! finished product!! basically just. play around with it. let the vibes guide u.

OOO first off ugh I'm so flattered you're asking me ahhh thank you lovely, here are some tips that I personally use whenever I write:

You have to be in a mood - doesn't have to be a 😈mood😈 but just a mood where you really WANT to write and you're passionate about it. I find that writing out of sheer need is a lot better than forcing yourself to, and the quality always comes out sm better!!

Don't be afraid to go into the nitty gritty details! And maybe this is a personal preference but I find that smut flows a loooot smoother when you use actual bodily terms - RELEASE US FROM THE METAPHORS AND "HEAVENLY PILLAR" I BEG 😩

Use your own experiences 😋 That helps makes things a lot more realistic imo - but if you don't have those experiences, then not to worry! You could also reference from other media you've read or watched n' having those as a muse can make things fun to write.

Heheh I love love love doing this but basically having the characters banter and tease. There's sm more dialogue to work with when they're playful, doesn't always have to be suuuuper serious y'know? (Though, if that's your pref then you go for it 🤤)

Editttttttttt BUT ONLY WHEN YOU'RE HYDRATED N' AFTER A NAP. I find this to be the best, most sane version of me so honestly don't stress about getting writing AND editing done on the same day.

Luci Angst Fic Idea That’s Been Rattling Around In My Head

Okay, so, it’s no real secret that I absolutely love angst and Hurt/Comfort content. I slurp that shit up like there’s no tomorrow. And recently my darling brain has been so kind as to supply me a new concept that could be shoved into a whole number of Lucifer angst fics.

Basically the premise is this:

Part of Lucifer’s punishment is that every year on the same day, a member of the heavenly court (the same Angel every time) comes down to administer a little “reminder” to keep Lucifer in line. Basically, he gets tortured, and the shit beat out of him annually to make sure he stays depressed. The Angel that does this is called “The Punisher” and they are very strong, but also have cool mind fuckery powers that they use to really get inside Luci’s head.

Most of my ideas are Charlie (who doesn’t know) finding out about this when it happens after Luci moves into the hotel, and being absolutely MORTIFIED! Good old Father-Daughter time. U know the drill. Sometimes my brain even likes to be like “oh yeah, the day of/after his Punishment Day was the day Lilith took Charlie and left” because I just love to make him suffer so he can be sympathized w/. I’m just like that don’t fucking judge, it’s not as weird as u think. Maybe. Whatever.

Anyway, yeah. It’s BRUTAL!

Content warning below for descriptions of violence next for some of the things I imagine happening to him, as well as an illustration with a shit ton of gold blood all over the place.

- A lot of the times they will do stuff to his wings to be like “you don’t deserve these.” Either rip them off and force them to grow back, break them, and once (the time Charlie finds out) skinning them to take the feathers off. That one is particularly angsty and I can’t help but be drawn to the heartbreaking-ness of it.

- Lots of punching, kicking, hitting scratching, and throwing him around.

- Concentrated holy water or holy light or something to burn

- Lots of emotional degradation (not the kink, if that wasn’t obvious)

- Induced hallucinations of everyone he loves hating him

- And, u know, whatever new toys The Punisher comes up with.

I'll be posting Pikmin homebrew for the next two weeks! My history with Pikmin is a funny one- I have been fascinated by its fanciful creatures since one of my classmates brought in the Prima guide to Pikmin 1 in middle school, but I didn't much play the games until the first two were rereleased on Switch this summer. I did rent the original back when that was a thing, and I own Pikmin 3 for the Wii U, but I got particular far in neither. Instead, I watched Chuggaaconroy's Let's Plays, in fact finding him through an attempt to watch, rather than play, Pikmin.

Now, though, I've finished Pikmin 1 twice and started- and paused- Pikmin 2. I adore the setting and its creatures more than ever, and this blog here is how I express that love. So here's bulborbs!)

Bulborbs are strange nocturnal omnivores, neither insect nor mammal, who dwell in forests. Most bulborb are about the size of a songbird, stalking the undergrowth for insects and roots to devour, but a few grow much bigger.

The giant bulborb is a species the size of a turkey, and is farmed in some places. Its rump and snout are both very meaty, with the rump in particular being a rich combination of fat and muscle that is described as having a sweet, flavor closest to pork. Rare and dangerous, however, is the maneater bulborb, an aberrantly huge creature named for its ability to devour travelers and hunters whole.

There are many varieties of bulborb. The orange bulborb is a more dangerous and particularly alert species that can be represented by giving it the Advanced simple template and an additional +2 to Wisdom. The whiptongue bulborb is known for its anteater-like tongue it uses to collect large masses of insects, and can be represented by replacing the bulborb's bite attack with a tongue attack that has grab. In the giant bulborb, this attack has a 10ft reach and deals 1d3 damage, and in the maneater bulborb, this attack has a 30ft reach and deals 1d6 damage.

Alexis Hall's A Lady for a Duke. i liked this quite a bit but i have some longer form thoughts percolating that require a reread. it was a tense but fun read, i do not know that mr hall achieved the goal he set forth below. in a broad initial stroke, there is certainly a great deal of internal conflict not helped by our trans lead’s difficulty seeing her trans self in a loving relationship.

how this conflict resolves did genuinely keep me on the edge of my seat bc i could not fucking figure out how she was going to do it

Pandora and the Flying Dutchman (1951, dir Lewin). this is a movie where (in the immortal words of the switchblade sisters podcast) it’s not what happens, but how it happens. the movie opens with fishermen dredging up two star-crossed lovers. i will not be particularly concerned with spoilers here or in my letterboxd review.

age and a deft scorsese-backed restoration have been very kind to this sea-mist movie. cinnamon fucking topography, technicolor at some of its prettiest and best used. jack cardiff (also did Black Narcissius, The Red Shoes, The African Queen) you've fucking done it again. the restored version is on american tubi and it's so so lush and dreamy. the very first handful of scenes contains a church bell ringing wildly, giving you glimpses of commotion on the beach, and it just keeps getting better from there. the beach party, full of dutch angles and toppled statuary and debauchery and no one dancing the same, is exactly the same as every beach party i have ever been to.

james mason is at his hottest, wettest, and most brooding. not all of our main characters are as openly debauched as pandora, but all of them are just as selfish. i have a lot of fucking beef with some of the letterboxd reviewers, who are simply wrong. pandora is not supposed to be a likeable or redeemable character. i think one of the questions for YOU to answer is whether or not a flighty, homewrecking, irresponsible woman like pandora is redeemed through her willingness to die for true love-- this is generally an admirable quality in myths and fairy tales, but is it cancelled out as just another flight of her fancies that ultimately kills her?

also the people who don't "get" what the film's about and complain it's too slow. it's about insanity and the sea what's not to get!!!

so we are mostly through the genshin 4.1 part 2 events. i am so tired of the past few battle events cycling through the same arenas; however, this is the first event where i read the directions and was like "augh that's too complicated we'll do that later" and did all my weekly bounties instead. speaking of bounties, i finally did enough to unlock the treasure chest locator and confirmed my suspicions that i have in fact picked over the region pretty well in the last ~two months. the liffey and research institute were at 85% and 95% respectively before i unlocked this thing, but i did almost immediately find two remarkable chests in the far south by the port. augh. would have bit me if they had teeth etc. i would prefer if the regions showed 100% when i have actually 100%ed them instead of whatever margin they have going now, but i recognize that i have brain problems.

im MAD bc i was given a singular hellofresh dinner by a friend going on vacation and it was fairly easy to make and tasted good and everything WORKED. and it was like a fun little after work project!!! and the directions said “here’s what to do to the peppers if you don’t want it super spicy” and it most importantly it all WORKED. this is a very expensive thing to have a sudden interest in. i feel like i fuck up most of the food i make and i know that's part of the learning curve but it's SO fucking expensive to fuck up food and i have such a limited amount of energy :<

tip 1- the posting format isnt that hard to get used to actually its just you create a tumblr text post and then copy and paste your fic onto it, add the tags and stuff then post it. if you want to add banners, headers and stuff to make it look better then go ahead, just add images to the text post

tip 2- the info area is the same as above, just add pictures of your choice etc to the text post, add your information, name, age, fav things etc and then to link posts to your post, highlight where u want the link to go, then copy the link of the post u want linked then press the hyperlink that looks like two chains linked together when you highlight the text if that makes sense? sounds like a lot but its rlly not i promise haha

tip 3- always type your fics on other apps like word or google docs since they have an auto save feature!! i dont reccomend typing your fics on tumblr since one if the app crashes, it doesn't automatically save your work so everything you wrote will get deleted (some versions of tumblr do have autosave, my laptop has it but my phone and iPad doesn't, so i dont rely on it)

tip 4- idk if you want tips on actual fic writing or just how to get your fics onto tumblr but ill help you with that anyway. with me when i write fics i always imagine it out in my head. theres some of my fics where i just went with the flow and wrote wgatever came to mind and those are the fics i hate the most because they dont rlly make sense to me. theyre always so random and it just seems rushed and bad.

i picture my fics like a scene in my head and whatever i want the character to do, think, say or feel i write that shit down asap. i use other online sources to help get more descriptive like the emotion theasurus <- honestly one of my favourite things to use ever, they have so much body language to use for every emotion in the damn book

dialogue is also something i find difficult. i've improved i personally feel like but its still hard for me especially if im writing a new character. i never want to make the character seem OOC so i do lots of research before hand. i normally use the wiki to read up on a characters personality.

for example i'll use ran for this since he's like 99% of my account lmao. in the wiki, he's described as "naturally whimsical toward others which makes him inscrutable" though ran doesnt have many scenes in the manga (which i hate bc i love him sm) its impossible to actually write him down to a tee so i use that naturally whimsical description to make him playful, charismatic, carefree etc, going off what little information i have with him.

getting a characters personality down is what can make or break a dialogue. for me when im reading a fic of a character and their dialogue is so OOC it puts me off and i dont even wanna read. so i apply my same fic icks to myself and think if I don't like seeing this and that in a fic, why would I incorporate those in my fics and have ppl get put off it if they have the same fic icks as me?

tip 5- dont rush yourself at all. i used to rush a few of my fics and i just ended up hating it so much after and fought bck the urge to delete them so many times but then i'd see people's comments and realise i was being too harsh on myself. i'd keep them up but i'd just hate seeing them get attention.

rushing only makes you hate your work and the quality of your work will decline if you are not in the right headspace.

thats also why i have the don't rush me thing in my rules because not only is it annoying to see people constantly asking for updates, it also makes me mad because i know i'll just put out a piece of garbage if i did rush.

also another tip don't give yourself deadlines!! if you know your writing consistency can be a little sloppy, don't tell your followers that you're going to upload every so and so day. if something happens and you miss the deadline, you'll feel bad and rush something out and most times out of ten, a rushed fic doesn't do well. so take your time and don't rush.

tip 6- dont listen to what other people say or feel obligated to write something you don't wanna. establish your boundaries!! for example, from day one i started this blog i said im accepting requests but i will not write anything to do with non-con, incest or minors. i made sure that was out there so i wouldn't feel uncomforable writing anything i wasn't comfy with.

there are people on this app that may like your writing and request you to write something for them. you are not obligated to write anything for anyone! don't feel like you have to just because they asked nicely.

if you want to accept requests you can im not saying you shouldn't, im saying don't feel like you have to. you always have a choice. its your blog.

tip 7- remember this isn't a job. you're allowed to take breaks, allowed to have a personal life. don't feel like you need to be updating every day. i used to think i was obligated to be uploading consistently at least every week because i was obsesssed with engagement and seeing peoples comments and was scared if i took a break ppl will unfollow. now i honestly don't care. i'm not active as much as i used to because of school and that's fine! if ppl want to leave, let them. don't feel like you're forced to keep being active in order to keep your follower count stable.

tip 8- this app can get really toxic sometimes. luckily enough i've only had one toxic anon in my inbox and i've been on this app for a year. some people have so many, some ppl get harrassed etc. if that happens to you just be prepared since there's no actual way to find out who's behind anons. you can turn off your anon options which means if ppl want to inbox you something then their account will be showing. some people arent comfortable with that and that's fine! i keep mine on because i want people to feel comfortable on my page.

just remember though if you ever feel like this app is getting overwhelming take breaks! for the sake of your mental health take breaks. i know so many writers on here that took breaks and came back healthier and stronger.

i feel like this tip goes for social media in general. as much as i love social media im aware how unhealthy it is. breaks are so important for you. remember that.

Omg thank u, and yes the owner of the dress is Anna. I know people want Anna soon for T8 but I kind of not invested in the story as much. I just play Tekken for the character designs. And when I ship I just ship no matter the direction of the story. I feel like people invest too much in it to validate their ship but I don't think Tekken is all about that. Well it's obvious that the game is not about that. So I find it ridiculous that people are fighting over what ship is better.

I would like to see what design they'll come up with for Anna if they ever decide to bring her back 😊.
