Also I’m not dissing anyone you can ship who you want and I’m not seething at the mouth with veins popping out of the side of my head as I type this. I have feelings on the matter but none affect my day to day life and I cannot stress how calm I am about this and I don’t want to start any arguments over fictional non canon couples I would love to hear calm input as we both respectfully share our opinions I literally could care less if you ship them like ngl I enjoy it until I remember a few things but anyways

Obikin feels weird to me.

I love the fanfics and fanart people make of em, don’t get me wrong, but once you remember Obi-Wan met Anakin when he was nine it begins to feel a bit off. Obvs ppl don’t think of this and I don’t mean it in a bad or mean way but more of a “just ignore that” way. I haven’t seen anyone bring it up so I’m going off of that; I haven’t witnessed the entirety of the internet so I very well could be wrong.

It just rubs me the wrong way. I WANT to enjoy content of them but I can’t help but remember their canon timeline. I think a few changes to canon could fix this though. Teen Ani crushing on his teacher(but Obi wan never doing anything w him until he’s MUCH older bc ew)is hilarious to me and I eat that shit up. I don’t condone that in real life obvs but this is Star Wars. Last time I checked we don’t have those in real life.

chrysi: ohhh hmmmm…………………….. she’s the hardest to answer for, i feel, since so much of who she is boils down to “paranormal investigator of various flavors”………. she’d go too stir-crazy if she was an artist or an illustrator in any professional regard, and she deliberately didn’t pursue any type of concert pianist position since the competition would’ve driven her batty (triggered her bipolar disorder too badly)… srry to be stereotypical, but i think she would be a detective of sorts. :((. i cannot think of anything else besides mortician, but even that’s not exciting enough for chrysi unless there’s a constant string of demonic possessions <///3 sighs.

chrysi: difficult to say because of her various songs, but she defs falls into alternative rock / indie rock the most.. plus she loves any type of piano music since she’s a pianist 🥰

jacks: he’s into pop. i mean… like. yeah. and then a liiiiitle bit of electroswing, but he doesn’t tell anybody about that, now does he.

azure: generally he’s also an alternative music type of person, but he tends to err more towards melancholy music. also, he likes french pop. who knew?

gil: i think primarily pop punk. idk, whatever genre fall out boy is. he jst seems the type to have an intense fall out boy phase <///3 (because i was having a fall out boy phase when i first read the manga 💀 i can admit my wrongs). also, i think he’d listen to classical music, but he’s picky abt it and he tries not to let ppl know he’s picky abt it because he doesn’t want ppl to judge him :((

azure likes her neck 😌 it’s a very good place for him to kiss. he also thinks her face is nice to hold in his hands because she’s always batting her eyelashes and smiling up at him. chryzure: chrysi loves azure’s practical nature (and how he leans into that to make countless deadpan jokes….. she thinks his sense of humor is top-notch) because it helps keep her grounded. azure, on the other hand, likes the way that chrysi’s so bright and outgoing and ruthless and that she experiences every single strong emotion, because it helps him feel less like a one-note person.,,,, they break up each other’s monotony and keep each other from falling into their various hells….

chrysijacks: chrysi likes how jacks is a schemer, even though she makes fun of him for it 🖤 she thinks it’s cute how he’ll always try something new and he’s vv determined and one-minded about things in a way to add interest to his life. jacks rlly likes how ruthless and cruel chrysi can be at the same time as being kind and good. it should be contradictory, but for chrysi, it makes sense….. her strong moral code fascinates him sm!!!!

chrysigil: chrysi likes how devoted gil is + how caring he is at his core. he loves helping people and it draws her to him (even though she tries to keep herself at a distance because she feels she cannot trust her heart with anyone after losing azure..,,,,,,, ;;;; ). gil likes chrysi’s own brand of caring for others and how everything she does is for the good of others (but it distresses him that it’s always done at her own expense… girl, STOP, you’re making gil want to cry ;; ) PLUS gil thinks chrysi’s curiosity is vv cute 😌

the moment they fell in love

chryzure: truly…. i think it was literally jst them doing something normal.. like when azure knew precisely where chrysi would be in the bookstore because he knew she visits the horror section first, and when he found her there and she looked up, she realized nobody else knew her quite as well as azure….. and when they were walking home, they decided to hold hands instead of keep them to themselves and they were looking up at the stars together and they kissed…… yeah :)

chrysijacks: a little more difficult, BUT i think right after jacks nearly drowned for chrysi, when chrysi realized he loved her and she realized she loved him back…! that she didn’t want anything bad to happen to jacks (even though he deserves it) and she liked being in his company… and that was when chrysi allowed herself to sink into jacks’s embrace 🥰 that was it. the moment of love. took long enough.

chrysigil: this is a messy one, but honestly, it’s way deeper into their relationship than you might think… like long after they’ve established themselves to be a Thing, where they’re close to each other and chrysi will kiss gil on occasion, but they don’t have a name for it. it’s after chrysi is saved from her own follies (i.e. waltzing off to take care of an investigation on her lonesome, when she was wildly emotional and not in her right mind) when gil is holding her in his hands and urging her to look into his eyes as he’s chastising her for not caring for herself and that everyone cares about her—and, yes, that includes him too!!!!… that’s when chrysi and gil lock eyes and it’s like “oh. oh, i see. we both love each other.” AUGH!!!!!

Oh god, like, half of them? I could go with Aether and how ppl decided he was "the dumb labrador" sibling of the two, or with the uwufication of Scaramouche, or how they turned Ei into a fucking idiot. Honestly wherever you turn there's mischaracterization, but personally I hate the uwufication of Scara the most annoying because it completely erases all of his character and growth, all of his nuances and it's the bane of my existence, ESPECIALLY the "mommy issues" part I hate it I hate it I hate it he calls her ""mother"" ONCE and it was as in "creator" HE DOES NOT THINK OF HER AS HIS MOTHER, SHE NEVER THOUGHT OF HIM AS A SON HE WAS A DEFECTIVE PROTOTYPE DIE DIE DIE DIE

WAY too many but the top two are Ei/Miko and Alhaitham/Kaveh. First one I just see them as very good friends, friendship exists and if we really want to be nitpicky Yae was closer to Makoto than Ei when she was alive sooo... My heavy dislike is a good 60% fandom-born tho, their shippers were simply VILE on twt, calling everyone who didn't like the ship "lesbophobes" even lesbians (me) so like, yeah no.

As for the second one I just ✨detest✨ the constantly bickering dynamic, it downright triggers me due to my ✨past toxic relationship✨ so I tend to avoid them in general. In this case I also find them... Like bland ass chicken, there's literally nothing going on there and if ANYTHING all the iterations I've seen have Kaveh as the butt of the joke. Bro don't even get me STARTED on how Kaveh got stripped of his entire personality to be "Alhaitham's hysterical wife", did you know that if you go into the Kaveh tag on Tumblr you'll mostly find ship posts? I have the tag blocked and the few times I tried to look up fanarts of Kaveh I had to scroll SO long in between posts. It's like he can't even fucking exist outside that goddamn ship and it PISSED ME OFF! Not to mention I heavily dislike the Genshin fandom tendencies to insta ship the New Mation Assigned Tall Male Models together as soon as they get leaked. Don't get me started on that or the enforced gender roles on this ship. Let's move on. Other popular ships I don't like are: Zhongli/Tartaglia (I was lied by the fandom, they barely interacted yall on some delulu shit), Cyno/Tighnari (yawing, also laughing at the antis shipping them that got uno reversed with the We Are Like Brothers), Chongyun/Xingqiu (boooooriiiing), Kazuha/Scaramouche (get out.).

I don't wanna rant, I really don't uughh so I'll try to sum it up. Scara doesn't have mummy issues, he wasn't even "alive" when she was working on him, yes he got tricked by Dottore but ultimately the choice of joining the Fatui was his "cause they look fun lolz", he showed NO OUNCE of regret for all the war crimes and yes he is soft to kids and critters and old folks and he is trying to not be evil but he is NOT lawful good nor will he ever be, he's chaotic neutral on a good day and on a Fatui killing spree on a bad one Genshin fandom learn about fully rounded characters challenge failed spectacularly.

Despite my personal preferences I do firmly believe that all Genshin characters have merit and deserve to stay in the game it would be Childe of course axe the redheaded twink JUST KIDDING! Scaramouche can't be trans in the canon of the game. Yae tells us that he was built by Ei as a prototype for her Shogun doll so people took that and ran saying "oh well Ei is a woman so she must have made her dolls as hwr image" WRONG they were just dolls and he was an early stage too, he so wasn't given any gendered detail so NO he doesn't have boobs or a fucking vagina ha had NOTHING down there he was a fucking MANNEQUIN! Ok so Camille’s an asshole on that we can all agree, but I’m really tired of people in the fandom acting like she’s just your typical annoying ex and she makes poor uwu Alec feel insecure cause fuck that. Camille was 100% abusive and manipulative but I also think she was sexually abusive too I mean seeing what she did to Simon and kissing Magnus without his consent even though he was clearly uncomfortable, consent doesn’t really seem to be an issue for her-

I feel like she definitely manipulated his fear of loneliness and not being good enough, to suit her needs. Like Magnus isn’t in the mood for sex or it’s especially triggering on a certain day, either way he’s not up for it but Camille makes him do it anyway. She threatens to leave or go find someone else who can fulfill her needs or take care of her when Magnus won’t, ‘I mean does he even love her when he won’t do this one simple thing for her?’ 

So he just lets her do what she wants, even if he’s having a full blown panic attack Camille doesn’t care or she’ll just leave insulting him saying she can’t deal with this right now and leaving Magnus with no idea when or if she’ll be back. So the next time she asks he hesitates less or initiates it more even when he’s not in the mood so she won’t leave and yeah I have a lot of emotions relating to this. and now I’m thinking about how it’ll affect his future relationships, not even talking about Alec but other people - I have this headcanon where when he got away from Camille and is healing, him ragnor and Catarina live together in ragnors cottage or somewhere away from people for awhile so Magnus can slowly heal and focus on himself and unlearn Camille’s abuse with the help of his family 

But despite what this fandom says Magnus has always been a helper and a selfless person to the point of self destruction. He’s unable to prioritise his own health and he wouldn’t be able to slow down and feel the full force of the abuse he experienced cause he feels like he’ll fall apart if he does and ‘no one wants a pathetic crybaby who breaks down when someone moves their hand too fast in his direction it wasn’t even that bad he’s just exaggerating like he always does this is why Camille doesn’t love him back’ (the ‘’ parts were meant to be strikethrough to signify Magnus’ inner thoughts but that doesn’t work on asks)

And he’s scared to get in another relationship cause he doesn’t think he’d be able to speak up for himself if they turned violent or controlling, he’s scared that if they did he’d just let them so he closes himself off from people puts these walls around him and a bright smile on his face that doesn’t let anyone think there’s anything wrong. And theres so much pain going on in the world ‘they have it much worse than him anyway’ and Magnus tries to help the best he can as he always does and he’s always there for people to lean on without any reciprocation and he’s so emotionally and physically tired and he’s not sure how much longer he can take it, almost considers going back to blackfairs bridge ‘really he’d be doing the world a favour’ but theres too many bad memories and he promised his family he would try so he holds on and then he finds Raphael and that obviously doesn’t fix everything but- I was going to continue this but it’s two am in my country and honesty it’s too long already😅 sorry for the rant it’s just a lot of emotions. Im so tired of the ‘Camille’s an annoying ex who keeps getting in the way of my favourite gay ship😠’ metas and needed to let out some feelings before I explode from my hate for Camille

ok ok ok coherent thoughts ok i can do this. first of all THE SALT how does it feel to have vision and coherency. ppl writing camille as just an annoying ex or a bad ex or even as like "oh they both made mistakes and it ended up terrible" drives me UP THE WALL. camille was explicitly abusive, so much so that magnus CANONICALLY WAS UNABLE TO ALLOW PEOPLE TO GET CLOSE TO HIM FOR ALMOST A CENTURY. and she was shown to be abusive, both in the physical sense as you have reminded us so brilliantly and in the sense that her whole "choose me" speech? like she doesn't have to literally say the words "no one but me would ever love you" for that to be exactly what she's saying. she's obviously playing with his insecurities and putting him down while presenting her as his savior, it's CLASSIC ABUSE. she was written as such a perfect to-the-book abuser that it honestly shocks me like they did that really all they ticked all the boxes. the way she immediately launched to talk about alec's mortality too, the way she was obviously trying to make them fight and draw them apart - it wasn't a jealousy thing, it is just that she's abusive and she wants him isolated so she can toy with him and manipulate him 

EVEN SALTIER WHEN THEY MAKE IT ABOUT ALEC BEING INSECURE LIKE. especially because canonically he literally watched camille kiss magnus and didn't care, which was sexy of him because i was dreading some jealousy drama or something but instead he was just like. obviously she did it to hurt you. i only care in the sense that she's a fucking bitch. we stan! 

as for how she treated him! oof i think the same thing with the same words dioajdsaoij it always circled back to "why can't you do this for me?" in and outside of sex - i mentioned that in a conversation in the comments of my other post but i think that with camille the sexual abuse was really just an extension of the regular abuse, so they bleed together and are not really separable in that sense. at every turn, he had to prove his worth, and she used his fear of loneliness both in the sense that she amplified it and made it seem like the only way to not be lonely was to be with her, and that she gave him just enough for him not to feel desperately lonely so she could string him along. not to mention, they both always go back to how magnus supposedly "owes" her, and yes, it's because of the bridge, of course, but there's also that underlying tone of "because she put up with him and gave him affection when no one else would". even when what she did was nowhere close to real affection. so it's both the bridge and the after. she could have saved him and left, but she stayed. that's why he feels he owes her, and she will absolutely use it

AND UR SO RIGHT ABOUT MAGNUS BEING UNABLE TO PRIORITIZE HIS OWN HEALTH UGH UGH UGH UGH like he has no choice for a while because she left him fucking broken and seeing the way she treats him and the amount of shit he puts up with i can only imagine how far she had to go for him to reach a breaking point and leave her for real. but as soon as he could pretend to have himself together he just threw himself out there. and i believe that he felt guilty for having catarina and ragnor take care of him when he abandoned them because of camille - obviously that's not what happened, she manipulated him into staying away from them, made his life hell whenever he wanted to hang out with them until he no longer had the energy to put up a fight to keep in contact with the people he loves, but it's what he feels that happened, and most likely what camille herself eventually started to tell him happened once they had been pulled away enough. ("you're gonna leave me? and go back to who? your little friends who tried to pit you against me from day one? they're just gonna say 'i told you so', magnus. and why would they take you back when you left them before? when was the last time you even saw them? you chose this, you chose me, and now you're gonna come back to them and expect them to welcome you with open arms? you selfish little prick")

AND RAPHAEL!!! raphael was so important, honestly, we say that magnus didn't let anyone into his heart but obviously raphael was the exception and EXTREMELY important for his healing. it's a complicated relationship because he's sort of a father figure for rapha, and as such, he doesn't allow himself to be completely vulnerable around him, because that's not "his role". but! he was the first person whom magnus let in. and they obviously know each other deeply ("i hate to see you like this" even though magnus looked completely put together to the outside eye) and are plenty affectionate ("sweet boy", the hugs, the way rapha talked about magnus with so much love and awe in his eyes and voice) and trusting (the way raphael went to magnus' loft, not his own damn clan, when he was tortured...). i know this fandom likes to pretend that they pretend to hate each other but NO THEY DON'T they are openly caring and loving with each other fucking fight me on this

anyway, my point is that raphael was the first person he allowed himself to trust, and of course, part of that is simply because raphael was vulnerable and in need and like you said he can't just stay still when he sees someone struggling. but to care for raphael eventually had to mean to open up to him and when he welcomed raphael in, he gained a new member to his family. raphael is his kid. that's no small thing. their bond goes deep and it's extremely important because again, after camille magnus wouldn't allow people to get close to his heart, because he was scared of how they could use that against him. raphael was his first, and the only reason magnus was able to open himself up for romantic love again (which was an extra step, not because romantic love is more important or deeper, but because it's specifically the kind of love that camille used against him, and thus it makes him even more scared) was because he had already been relearning trust and platonic love with rapha

rapha did him good!!! there's a reason he calls him "sweet boy" okay. and rapha cares about him and he NOTICES WHEN HE'S IN A BAD SHAPE EVEN THROUGH ALL OF MAGNUS' WALLS and he specifically didn't want magnus involved with the camille drama even when it had obviously gotten out of hand because he wanted to keep him safe and away from her!!! i want to be shot in the face!!! they love each other so much! fuck!

and also that implies that raphael knows about camille which means he might be the first person who met magnus post-camille and heard the story, which means that he might be (and probably is) the first person who was never involved that magnus opened up about this to. if that ain't some powerful and important shit i don't know what is. because part of abuse is that you can't talk about it - there's this sense of shame and guilt both from staying and from not staying more, especially because magnus canonically still feels like he owes her... aaaaa

this answer is all over the place im sorry but my point is you are correct, camille is a textbook abuser not just a shitty ex, she fucked up his head and made him unable to open up for a long time, and the first person that helped him break those walls was raphael and they LOVE EACH OTHER VERY MUCH AND DEEPLY thank you for your attention

hearth calling achilles on his shit is the one time people see hearth angry about anything bc normally he’s the most loving dude

hearth, being named for hestia, normally the “flames” of his personality are akin to a soothing fireplace made to comfort and chase the chill away, but his anger is a wildfire that no one thus far has been able to control. you have to let hearth deal with his anger on his own until he’s able to quell it down, man doesn’t know what power he holds when angry bc he just doesn’t use that emotion hardly ever

but back to achilles diving into danger and hearth calling him on it

hearth feels incredibly guilty abt yelling afterwards and tries to find achilles to apologize, but it was too late

man ended up holding his vod’ika as he died, glad that achilles wasn’t suffering anymore but miserable bc he failed good brother

used to have long crimson hair he’d let achilles braid when the latter was coming down from his fits of anger or depression. after achilles died, he kept it trimmed to a regulation buzz. still keeps hairties on his wrist as if he still needs to tie it up bc it’s muscle memory to put them on in the mornings

was basically adopted by hearth when he joined the guard and had no idea what to do abt it

was too used to being the one to take care of his brothers, being the oldest of his batch back on kamino. but after one brother died in a training simulation & two were decommissioned, he lost hope and isolated himself from his kih’vod until they were all stationed somewhere he wasn’t and he couldn’t worry

has really bad anxiety & hearth would let him braid his hair to come down from attacks. it was very soothing to both parties & hearth personally liked the braiding the best when achilles did it

don’t let his outbursts fool you he is an absolutely precious and loving soul. would give the shirt off his back to someone in need

very shy when it comes to romance. wants what’s best for his s/o and dates are the few times where he feels truly safe to open up and be happy

this sweet boy gets to show off all that sugar sweetness w skadia, who belongs to @roseofalderaan . embraces her culture, shows her what it’s like to truly love, the whole nine yards.

skadia has wings and they’re his favorite thing ever. he’ll run his hands thru them, help her preen. absolutely adores it when she cages him in w them

they loved to dance together, typically something soft and slow where they could hold each other as close as possible and get lost in the moment

after being in the guard for a few years, he was disillusioned and angry with life bc he saw how clones were treated & that nothing was done about it, both on kamino and coruscant

tried to do things abt it himself but they always backfired, thus resulting in him getting demerits and beat up by civvies

hearth would be the first one contacted when he limped back into the barracks and was always walked to the medbay by his ori’vod (sometimes letting achilles rest most/all of his weight on him as they walked/limped)

one of these times, he tried to call out a merchant for being racist against clones but got jumped. from there, had started to intentionally endanger himself on missions

stopped listening to orders and would charge into bad situations with the intent to get himself killed

hearth is the one to call him on his shit. achilles ends up feeling incredibly guilty for making his ori’vod angry and in his guilt/anger, left and provoked the merchant from before. the merchant killed him and hearth was only seconds too late

in short this absolute angel deserved more than he got

Phoenix Prince /// Dragon Princess AU

Aka a healthy (ish) fire siblings au (thats still super angsty im so sorry) where Zuko and Azula love/take care of eachother and earn the love of their people

Ursa dies in child birth, though thankfully Azula survives. Zuko’s only three at the time but he’s devastated by the loss of his mother, and vows to protect his baby sister at all costs

He’s super super involved with Azula growing up, and does everything in his power to protect her from Ozai. Bc when she’s little Ozai’s very bitter bc she “killed” Ursa, plus he already hated zuko for being too weak, plus there’s no Ursa to challenge him. so he can basically do whatever tf he wants to them and be an abusive fucking dick

But then, Azula starts fire bending and is clearly a prodigy. Ozai suddenly takes an interest in her. She’s terrified of her dad so she does w/e tf he wants to keep him happy.

Except she refuses to hurt zuko. he’s her big brother and she loves him. She (secretly) stays really close with him, though is skilled enough at manipulation that Ozai thinks she’s basically cut herself off from zuko/hate him. Which zuko is fine with, he wants Azula to be safe from Ozai and if that means she needs to pretend to hate him when their dad is in the room? He doesn’t care, he knows his baby sister and knows she loves him

Anyway yeah Ozai starts to like her better and treats her.... “better”. (Note the quotations.) but she still feels guilty that Zuko’s getting the brunt of ozai’s wrath, so she does her best to keep Ozai’s attention on how good she is instead of how much of a failure zuko is.

Quick side note: if Azula seems ooc that’s on purpose. We know her toxcicity is a result of Ozai’s influence. But here he has way less control over her. Bc Ozai mainly controls her by using fear. And while she is afraid of him, she’s not nearly as afraid in this AU. a) bc Azula has her over protective big brother being over protective and b) Ursa’s dead so there’s no mother who is supposed to protect her failing to protect her and making Azula feel unsafe

So in this she’s much closer personality wise to like a “season 1 zuko” version of herself. She’s in general cool but tends to loose control of herself. Though she also has a lot more self confidence than zuko did, and maybe a bit too much pride. She’d never hit someone who was already down and cares for ppl, but pretends that she cares for no one

So yeah. The two are just kinda surviving living in the castle and love eacother a lot

Until they hear about the whole kill ur first born thing....... (which happens about 2 yrs after cannon bc Iroh came home when he heard his sister in law died and the whole siege of ba sing se was postponed)

Instead of like. Waiting for her brother to get murdered tiny 9 yr old Azula packs up their shit and gets ready to go on the run

Unfortunately she’s (almost) too late. While she’s getting ready to leave Zuko is trying to cover for her (Ozai would be murderus if he knew Azula was gonna betrey him by leaving) and somehow manages to insult Ozai while trying to protect Azula from being found out

Ozai gets big mad, and in a fit of rage tries to kill zuko by burning half his face off.

Azula runs in at the sound of her brother’s screams, at the exact same time two gaurd rush into the royal chambers. The guards are frozen in shock, but Azula is pissed

Azula attacks her dad. At first she has the upper hand/element of surprise but... she’s 9.

she starts loosing. Her forearm gets really badly burned in a suspiciously hand-shaped pattern.

During the fight Zuko’s struggling to lift himself from the ground and help. He manages to save Azula from a killing blow by throwing some fire at Ozai, but collapses immediately after. Azula barely has a second to breathe before Ozai starts attacking again.

For a moment it legitimately looks like Ozai is going to murder his two young children in cold blood

Until one of the guards snaps.

She uses the whole fucked up situation to knock Ozai out, though she doesn’t kill him. The other gaurd is just standing there, and she has no clue who he’s gonna help so she just knocks him out

Then the gaurd grabs zuko and Azula, and fucking BOOKS IT from the castle. She does a blue spirit type thing to escape (threatening to kill either Azula or zuko) and eventually gets them somewhere safe where she can get their wounds treated

The next day the fire lord puts out this whole sob story about how an assassin pretended to be a gaurd, killed his father, then kiddnapped his children. And how he’s sending out a whole manhunt for his lost children yada yada yada

The other gaurd that was there mysteriously disappears a few days later, but not before he can spread some “rumors” about the prince and princess’s disappearance. Ozai ascends to the throne and publicly offers an enormous reward for the return of his children,,,,,, while secretly sending assassins after them. (Like.... Azula attacked him and he already tried to kill zuko he don’t give a fuck)

Iroh is obviously devestated when he finds out. and while he thinks the whole thing is a bit suspicious he starts on a journey desperately looking for his lost niece and nephew

While all this BS is happening this poor gaurd suddenly has 2 damaged af kids to take care of and a bunch of assassins to run from

So once zuko and Azula are healed enough to travel and they know zuko won’t die, they go on the run. They can’t stay in one place bc of all the assassins after them and end up going all over the world

They don’t spend a lot of time in the fire nation (for obvious reasons) but they do spend bits and pieces there. Connecting with their people, meeting freinds of the gaurd who saved them that can help (like Lt Jee who ran Zuko’s ship in cannon) and spreading the truth of what happened.

Stories about the damaged prince and princess who were so hurt by their father begin to spread. But even more stories about how the prince and princess care for their people spread ten times faster. Stories they take time to rebuild small fire nation villages damaged by floods, or how corrupt military commanders suspicious disappear after they come to town start to spread.

Ppl start calling them the dragon princess and pheonix prince. Because the princess protects her people like a dragon protects it’s hoard, by killing everyone who dares to endanger it. And the prince has risin from the ashes (you can see the burn clear as day on his face), to heal the land and his people

(Though really..... the prince and princess are both dragons and pheonixes. Because even if she seems invincible and more ruthless than her brother, the princess has been hurt deeply. Though her wound is more easily covered. And she aches for the pain of her nation, the nation she feels she wasn’t strong enough to protect. She just hides her emotions better than her brother....)

(As for the prince, yes he shows more kindness than his sister seems too. But he is just as ruthless as her if someone threatens their hoard. He’s just a bit calmer.... less trigger happy than his twin. It was his idea to take out the corrupt commandor stealing a small town’s livelihoods, after all)

They call the gaurd who saved them “the Kitsune”. They say she is a flame wielding spirit, sent by Agni himself to protect the true leaders of the fire nation

Iroh overhears bits and pieces about them. He starts to get an idea of what’s happening, but for the most part he really struggles to track them. Ppl can recognize him, and they won’t sell out their prince and princess to someone who might take them away

So yeah. The three of them are on the run together for a long time. They can never spend long in one place (assassins never stop coming after them) and dart all over the earth kingdom and fire nation, seeing first hand the effects of the war. And gaining a positive reputation both for caring about their people in a way no one since before Sozin has, as well as shaming dishonorable fire nation soldiers who mistreat those in the earth kingdom

(They almost never hurt foot soldiers who are just following orders, but any one (especially upper command) who take clear pleasure in other’s suffering are often challenged to Agni kai’s in exchange for said soldiers leaving.

Though usually just being publicly knocked on their asses by a couple of scarred kids who turn out to literally be the lost prince and princess holy shit, is enough to put them in their place)

So yeah. They travel together earning a good reputation from as soon as they’re healed until zuko and azula are 14 and 11 respectively

At that point they get separated from the gaurd.... (she doesn’t die, either captured or separated for some other reason)

So now.... all they have is eachother

The two spend the next two years on their own. They still try to do the same types of stuff they did before but now they’re in a lot more danger w/o an adult to help them. They’re basically just.... 2 increasingly ferel children struggling to survive. They live mostly off of like foraged stuff and whatever money they can make/steal from rich assholes

They continue to dodge Iroh as well bc they have no clue if he’s gonna return them to their father or kill them or w/e. Which is wayyyy harder than it would seem, the only reason he hasn’t caught them yet is that they have an alliance with June the bounty hunter who keeps sending Iroh on wild goose chases bc she has a soft spot for the weird ferel kids. (And a huge crush on the gaurd who was basically their mom/older sister for a while. But we don’t need to talk about that)

so zuko and Azula are just these absolutely feral kids being hunted by 12 dozen bounty hunters from their father, plus the “dragon princess and pheonix prince” have officially been declared “traitors to the nation that are impersonating the late children of Firelord Ozai” so there’s a good amount of the actual military after them, and they’re trying to keep away from their uncle and all his fucking white lotus freinds

They’re a little bit stressed ok??? And like super protective of eachother by this point

And then who joins the fucking search??? The goddam avatar

Bc he heard these stories about these good firebenders who protect everyone no matter what side of the war they’re on. And ofc Aang wants one or both of them to teach him

So Aang like the lovable idiot he is, is just trying so hard to adopt these crazy feral firebenders.

And ik I keep saying feral but like. I need to emphasize this bc these two spent 2 years on the run + 2 more years on the run while basically living in fucking forests cus they’re out of money, connections, and the gaurd was the only one out of the three of them with social skills. They’re a little stressed okay???

And idk I just love the idea of Aang trying to befriend these crazy feral firebenders acting like they’re just like. Wild animals or smthn. Like cornering them in a clearing and trying to offer them jerky as if they were wolves and the two giving him the blankest fucking expression

Anyway this post is about 200x longer than I meant it to be and I am so so sorry. (Especially since I can’t put in a read more on mobile)

Anyway bc it’s so long i’m just gonna do the last bit in bullet form and try to finish as quickly as humanly possible

- obvi they join the avatar and stuff

- the gaurd (who ima call kit/kitsune cus I don’t have a name for her) eventually meets/joins with Iroh. June later joins them as well as they try to find the idiot fire children

- Sokka has a big gay crush on the feral firebening guy

- Katara has a very tiny crush she refuses to admit too on Azula

- there’s also a lot of drama between her and Azula at first bc Azula is brash and Katara kinda gets annoyed at a mix of that/the lingering bias she has against fire nation ppl but they get past it

- also Azula has ~issues~ where she blames herself for their mom’s death/ is sure their mom hates them but asp their mom comes to her in spirit form and says she loves her (no fucking clue when that would happen but I love that idea)

- instead of having zuko/Azula chasing them they have a really fun variety of different random bounty hunters. Obvi including sparky sparky boom man

- the siege of the north.... happens. Though Zhao doesn’t kill the moon spirit so yue lives, and Azula and zuko manage to make a huge speech and get many of the soldiers to defect to their side instead so it ends with minimal bloodshed

- when Toph joins the group she and Azula are chaos incarnate

-mai and ty lee hear rumors and stuff and join team avatar eventually

- when they find out about the day of black sun they just. Skip trying to talk to the earth king. Cus they can just stage a cou lol they have the people on their side?? Forces from both water tribes, random earth kingdom ppl they’ve managed to befriend,,,,

- though they have to find uncle first bc he could challenge zuko for the throne. Obvi they think they’ll need to get rid of him bc they don’t really know him and think he wants to hurt them but all of a sudden??? 

- so they kinda have a few side quests as they’re preparing and gathering everyone but then it’s the day of black sun!!! And it works and shit and I actually have some other ideas too but FUCK this is SO LONG i am so sorry and will shut up now

Holy FUCK i would literally sell my soul for an Adam-centric movie. I heard someone say in a vid that they might as well have made the whole anime about him and it wouldve been just as(if not even more) entertaining, and bro SAME. And frankly the younger characters aren't remotely as fun to watch as the adults.

Also the young!🌹🌸 ship has so much angst potential, it's probably my fav Adam ship(im regularly entertaining the thought of adult!🌹🌸 being together in an alternate universe lol). Also a concept:🌹 going to 🍵s restaurant to drink wine with the bois and complain about his work and bitchy aunts(do u see how desperate i am for them to fix their relationship even tho it's pretty much impossible after all that's happened OTL)

One thing that sends me is how japanese fans(and the va's themselves) are so understanding of Adam's character and are able to fully enjoy the story. There's so much Adam content coming from them compared to the western fandom(which is understandable tho, considering how it's overflowed with whiny fancops).

And the last thing. I don't think ppl that think Tadashi has done nothing wrong truly understand how much he fucked up when they were young. Tadashi was literally the one and only person Adam was sure he could rely on and thought was never gonna betray him(im sure Adam loved 🌸🍵 but there was no transparency in their relationship compared to what he had w/ Tadashi). Tadashi not backing him up in that one moment is something far worse than Adam's dad burning his skateboard. He was literally the only person that truly knew Adam, and losing him left him completely alone, which what i believe actually triggered him into becoming desperate about finding his Eve(thus finding an equal AND someone who could potentially support him). Ofc that doesn't mean that the way he now treats Tadashi is ok.

My headcanons for them are different though. I also think that Cherry and Joe only ever saw Adam, but never Ainosuke: yes, he lets them see his face, but I don’t think he let them into that side of his life. And Ainosuke keeps everything he feels close to his chest to keep up his perfect image, so he wouldn’t vent it, even privately (other than maybe to Tadashi). But I also think he doesn’t mind his work and while he may not like his aunts, he does appreciate them, since they’ve warped his thinking. (I do want them to fix their relationship too, though. And Adam just showing up at Joe’s restaurant one day would be hilarious.)

And Tadashi definitely played a huge role in screwing up Adam. Yeah, it’s not entirely his fault/he also has some clear problems that contributed to it like his inferiority complex, but he really fucked things up. Absolutely agree with everything you said. I think that something happened when Adam was in America that caused him to start desperately looking for Eve, but Tadashi not standing up for him in the one moment that it mattered the most was probably the most painful/significant moment in Adam’s life and strongly shaped his character. Though it is possible that that moment was the trigger for his search for Eve, if it happened immediately prior to Adam going to America (which isn’t unlikely); I’m not sure exactly where it falls in the timeline.

Rather than the snake, I feel like Tadashi is more of a God (though he would never claim that title for himself, or even believe it): he brought Adam into the world of skating (the Garden of Eden) and is now trying to cast him out of it. And that hurts Adam so much, to be betrayed (repeatedly) by his best friend and teacher, someone he once respected. To have God turn his face from him and try to take away Paradise. >~~~<

So yeah, Tadashi is really multi-faceted and intriguing to me, since I think he was something like an Eve, but also a God, and now a Snake (though again, I think “God” is more appropriate than “Snake,” at least with what we’ve seen so far).

Something I’ve mentioned in other posts is that I believe Adam is still in a “state of innocence” and basically still a child inside due to all the abuse he suffered from his family stunting his emotional/mental growth. As Ainosuke, he doesn’t seem to have any personal initiative: he just obediently obeys his aunts and tries to please them by meeting their expectations. As Adam, he’s a lonely child who just wants to have fun doing what he loves and is trying to find a friend who shares his passion for skating. I believe that he has not yet developed a sense of morality, so he doesn’t realize that what he’s doing in both areas is wrong: he’s like a kid stomping on a line of ants. It’s wrong/harmful/spiteful, but he just doesn’t know any better.

nobody gets to pick their beginnings. it’s something that people tell knox all the time, hell, it’s plastered in every stupid coming of age movie, book, film, everything he’s ever seen. you don’t pick who your born into, you don’t pick who you get to be. and to an extent, he does think that this is true but he can’t help but wonder if maybe, if people could pick, if they’d pick differently. because he knows he certainly would pick differently.

it’s not that he even came from a bad home - hell no, he had the most loving family ever. his mother was a saint, a warm sensation bubbling up in his chest when he thinks about her warm cookies or the way she tried to still tuck him in even as a teenager. his father had his flaws, we all do, but he was a good and honest man. hardworking, he showed knox what that stupid american dream is that everyone likes to preach about. 

no, it had nothing to do with them but rather the overall opinion on him and his family. see, the drury’s weren’t well liked - they were seen as lowlives and as shady, the kind of people who you’d only go to if you wanted to get stabbed in the back. generations of drury’s fit this narrative but no, his father was determined to change that. and so was he, even if nobody around him seemed to want to give him a chance. 

knox would go throughout school with this name attached to him like a dagger to his throat - whisperings in the hallway of, “oh, my mom said the drury boy might be steal things if you let him over,” and other random, rude remarks. of course, the people that get close to him know better - they see him for who he really is.

that person is knox. he’s a golden light, often more selfless than the rich pricks who run that small town. he’d give his jacket or umbrella to people even if they didn’t ask if it just so happened to be raining outside, and despite the fact that his family didn’t have a lot, he’d still go out of his way to try to give when he could. 

he eventually graduated high school - one of the top people in his class due to his father’s encouragement, and after a lot of debate, settled on attending haddon university - miles away from that sweet, small little hometown he knew, but a fresh start where he didn’t have to work for anything. he could just go in being him, with nobody attaching a new narrative to him. it was what he wanted, what he dreamed of.

and he loved it. his first semester there was memorable as he found himself surrounded by new friends and people he even considered family. back home, however, things were slipping.

the drury family was never rich, ever by any means, but business was low. nobody wanted to go there, fearing that his father was just as shady as his grandfather. as things got worse, his father had to resort to other needs - stealing, lying about taxes, and doing everything he could to try to make it by. 

it finally caught up to him when knox came home for spring break - red and blue lights flashing outside as loud noises went on throughout the house, until finally someone swung knox’s door open and briefly blinded him with a flashlight, demanding to know where his father was. by the time knox got a grasp on the situation, his father was being rushed off in the back of a cop car. 

he plead guilty almost immediately and for the next few months, knox did school from home to stay with his mother. it was then that he switched his major from what had initially been just a vague, business degree to political science in hopes of going into law after getting that degree - a way of changing things, of helping people so they never got to that point. 

for now though, he’s gone back to haddon’s campus where he study’s away and occasionally finds himself slipping and partying, glasses always covering his eyes as he slinks back class, getting almost nO sleep every night.

unpopular opinion: i don’t like rowan/rowaelin. i’m not here to convince u to unstan lol ppl are allowed to like/dislike things w/o feeling bad about it omg but i hate that some rowan stans are so insensitive when it comes to those who don’t like him! they’re so thirsty for him that they condemn anyone who doesn’t stan him & then excuse his problematic/lowkey triggering actions bc he’s hot and it’s gross. AGAIN not saying ppl can’t like rowan it’s ok lol but it’s more about some stan’s behavior

That’s totally fair my angel. I dislike the vibe that some people are locked out of the fandom for not being a cheerleader for every aspect of the series, and I hope that my followers/mutuals know that if they dislike stuff I like, or like stuff I dislike, expressing their opinions regarding that won’t ever cause me to cut them off (unless it’s like, some truly gross shit, which disliking rowaelin isn’t). 

Also I have to say, even tho I do like rowaelin, I understand where you’re coming from about people excusing his actions because he’s hot. I’ve toooooootally seen that. And I’ll just be 100% honest - no shade to anyone, but some of the rowaelin content on this website disturbs me a little bit, in terms what’s considered hot/romantic/acceptable when writing or depicting them in art. I’ve seen some weird stuff defended as hot or even just “not that bad.” Which isn’t necessarily a problem with canon, but your ask was more about stans anyway, so yeah. 

A while ago I actually wrote rowaelin meta in response to some other peeps (which was more about Aelin in relation to Rowaelin and how she’s included or not included in discussions of the ship, but it has some thoughts relevant to this ask) so I’m gonna just copy and paste what I wrote below and feel free to read if u want. (It’s like very overdramatic and fiery lmao but anyway). 

I agree with a lot of this, but (at risk of derailing ms aelinapologist’s amazing post) I do have a few things to say, which are

1. OP took two whole paragraphs at the beginning of her post to say that the point wasn’t to discourse about rowaelin being abuse or not abuse, it was to talk about how the conversations centering around said abuse consistently display a disturbing lack of empathy for the character who should be the main concern of the debate. So I just find it a bit funny/odd that the replies (including a portion of the one I’m about to make, I admit that) have been like “Yeah great post! And now to discourse about Rowaelin-” but I digress.

2. I have consistently loved reading about Rowan and Aelin and they’re one of my favorite fictional couples. So nothing I’m about to say is intended to be like “GOTCHA they suck and you suck for liking them!!!” Because I like them as well. A lot. And in addition, nothing about this reblog is intended to be shady or confrontational in any way shape or form. I just think this is a great and very needed discussion I’d like to contribute to, so here goes.

3. Even if we look at HoF alone and ignore how things play out later: yes, they are both mean to one another, yes, they are both in a dark place and end up having a mutually positive effect on one another (so I definitely agree that, at least for HoF alone, it’s not a “douchey guy changes for the heroine story”) but. There IS still a power imbalance. I don’t think it’s entirely accurate to say “they were both bad The End” without also bringing up the fact that Rowan is 300 years old and Aelin is 18, and that Rowan is training Aelin and is in a position that gives him a massive amount of control over her, and that he is stronger and more powerful than her physically, magically, and socially (he is a prince and legendary warrior, she is a AWOL teenage princess currently working as a scullery maid).

Maybe I’m reading into it too much, but I really just don’t think that Aelin, a 17 y/o girl going through an unimaginably shitty time, being like “fuck you!!” to this 300 y/o jerk who doesn’t know shit about her is on the same level as aforementioned 300 y/o jerk hitting her, biting her, and telling her she would have been of more use to the world if she’d died when she was eight.

And in addition to that, we see that his behavior effects her a lot more than it effects him. When he verbally tears her down, we see her experience genuine and devastating despair and shame, whereas everything she does and says to him, no matter how snarky or outright cruel, is not having that same effect on him. People always seem to think they’re giving Aelin credit for being a Strong Woman™ by saying “she’s tough! she can handle it!” when in reality… we have evidence for the fact that she kinda can’t handle it. That the way he treats her in the beginning is slowly wearing her down and sending her deeper into a depressive state. And I don’t understand how it somehow reflects poorly on Aelin (or is even misogynist) to acknowledge this. Women, especially literal teenage girls, should not be measured by their tolerance for mistreatment.

All I really wish is that somewhere along the line we’d gotten a genuine apology from Rowan for this besides a throwaway line in KoA about regretting their “brawling.” And again, none of this is to say “see!! it IS abuse!!” it’s just to suggest that, even as an enemies to friends to lovers story, the “enemies” part was not exactly on a level playing field.

4. But with that being said, I could probably forgive the imbalance in their early relationship, mostly because their later relationship, as both friends and lovers, is so amazing and supportive in pretty much every way. And the great thing about enemies to FRIENDS to lovers, like you said, is that 1) none of the assholery occurred during any kind of romantic or sexual relationship or a transition into one, so it was sort of “fair and square” in that way, and 2) they had the opportunity form a solid, platonic foundation of trust and caring before they crossed into the lover territory.

Aaaaaaaaaand then Sarah did a retcon job on HoF which negated… pretty much all of that. I can totally be down with “good old fashioned mutual hatred thaws into caring which grows into love” but once we start hearing shit like “‘Sometimes, you’d be sleeping beside me at Mistward, and it’d take all my concentration not to lean over and bite them. Bite you all over’” and “‘That was the first time I really lost control around you, you know. I wanted to chuck you off a cliff, yet I bit you before I knew what I was doing. I think my body knew, my magic knew. And you tasted… So good. I hated you for it’”……. hhhhhhhhhhh.

I can’t think of many arguments for this NOT contributing at least a little to the “he’s mean because he loves you (and stick it out because someday he’ll figure it out)” trope. And while it might be a bit different because Aelin was quite mean as well, her behavior was just… meanness. Not some sort of weird outlet for repressed sexual attraction/love. I guess I just get flashbacks of “No sweetie, that boy in your class kicks your desk, pulls your hair, and calls you names because he likes you and doesn’t know how to express it.”

And I think this decision on Sarah’s part to go back and say he was into her all along is 1) a result of the mating bond thing she’s so fond of and 2) kind of a panicked backpedalling to the backlash she might have gotten over Rowan’s behavior in HoF? Which is…. so ironic because she made it SO much worse. In my humble opinion, she should have just doubled down on what she originally wrote as enemies-friends-lovers (and had Rowan bring up his early behavior and apologize in some way), and the problem would have been solved. And while I personally feel that I can recognize this for what it is - a shitty retcon - and enjoy the relationship despite it, I don’t think we should talk over people for whom this is a deal-breaker for the ship.

5. I don’t think about all of this and have the reaction that so many “anti tog” people seem to have of “FUCK Rowan he’s ABUSIVE and PREDATORY and I wish he was DEAD!!!” I think there are things to criticize about his behavior and about the way Sarah decided to spin their relationship, but they have had many great moments, especially in the later books, and I don’t think I or anyone else is “shipping abuse” by enjoying that. All of this is just to emphasize how, in OP’s very succinct words, “your inalienable right to enjoy two characters’ dynamic does not outweigh the right to criticise it.” Because there ARE valid things to criticize, and we as Rowaelin shippers (lol.) need to be careful not to conflate ugly hatred with valid criticism when we speak over it.

And because there IS so much ugly hatred for Aelin and her relationship with Rowan on this website, I completely understand why there’s a kind of knee-jerk reaction of jumping to defense of this ship we love. But that impulse, quite frankly, means nothing to me if defense of Rowaelin includes the erasure of Aelin’s canonical experiences. And maybe this is wacky and controversial, but I’m pretty sure we can express our enjoyment of Rowaelin AND keep Aelin as an individual from being swept under the rug.  

6. More than saying any of that what I really really want to do (and have been trying to do in the previous paragraphs, but maybe unsuccessfully) is bring the conversation back to OP’s original point which was not “abuse!” or “not abuse!” but about how the ways in which we discuss “abuse or not abuse” often includes a stomach-turning lack of concern for Aelin and some frustratingly reductive arguments. And somehow I have the sneaking suspicion that Rowaelin shippers are reading this post and missing the point, which that this is happening on BOTH sides of the argument.

Everyone is perfectly entitled to ship Rowaelin and argue their opinion about its merits or lack thereof, but when we cover our ears and say “she was mean too she was mean too she was mean too she was mean too la la la la la la la” that’s completely ignoring the genuine pain that she did experience in HoF and the power imbalance that she was subjected to, no matter whether or not we personally feel that it was sufficiently rectified in later books.

And I see this ALL THE TIME, in both the fandom and “anti-fandom”, and I’m honest to god quite sick of it. I’m sick of the willful ignorance of a teenage girl’s pain in order to further an agenda. Yes, it’s more stomach-turning when the agenda is to prove what an evil bitch she is or whatever, but it’s not excusable if your agenda is to prove Rowaelin is great, either! And I don’t understand why we have to throw all nuance out the window and ignore how Dorian hurt her, ignore how Chaol hurt her, ignore how Rowan hurt her, fucking hell, ignore how SAM hurt her, just so we can make our arguments! Because as much as the antis love to scream about “WHAT MESSAGE IS THIS TERRIBLE SHIP SENDING THE TINY GIRL-CHILDREN WHO READ THE BOOKS???” it’s also like, what kind of message is our ongoing discussion of it sending by sweeping a teenage girl’s experiences under the rug when we argue about her relationships?

And like OP said, what have we even got to show for it? No conclusion has been reached, nothing has been achieved besides valuing a romance (or the hatred of that romance and preference for a different romance) over individual characters, namely an individual character who happens to be a teenage girl that has suffered an ungoldy amount - suffered, sometimes, at the hands of male characters we like.

In conclusion, the mass allergy everyone seems to have to giving a shit about Aelin unless its to further their agenda is sickening. If I had a dollar for every time I’ve had to hear about how poor Manon’s character was “ruined” by Manorian (although not directly by DORIAN, of course, because apparently Saint Haviliard can do no wrong) I’d have enough money to buy a lamborghini and drive it off a cliff like I wish I could every time I hear someone’s terrible hot take about how Aelin is complicit in her own alleged abuse. Yet somehow I’ve never heard anyone complain about the damage done to Aelin’s character by any of the male characters, including Rowan. It’s never “Rowan ruined Aelin’s character!!” it’s “Rowaelin sucks and so does Aelin.” In fact, one of the REASONS Aelin sucks in the first place IS Rowan/Rowaelin! What a great implicit message to send to people reading your “critiques”: if you are annoying and #problematic enough, your suffering will be used against you and you will receive no sympathy for it. Cool!

And for other ships, too: it’s never “Chaol and Dorian, while at points a very good for Aelin, also caused her a lot of pain” it’s either “Chaol was right about Aelin in QoS and both he and Dorian are ruined because of her #chaorian” OR, from the fans, who, again, are not off the hook, “Chaol and Dorian and Aelin are BFFs forever #originaltrio.” And as a teenage girl myself, who loves and identifies with Aelin, who is more invested in her story than anyone else’s… I’m just tired. And more than a little appalled. And I wish we could do better.

AD: h e y, I know we all have headcanons n shit, but my Dark would have tried to get their pal DA out of the mirror and into a body, after things settled, somehow. It would have taken him years, but he would have. Course it didn't go quite as planned. Kink(Klancy): a kinky mtherfcker. Used to be in a hella abusive relationship with someone who called beating and using him with no regard for his safety at all "bdsm". And it was Klancy's first and only romantic relationship. It wasn't until his bad, horrid excuse of a dom took them to an actual, legit bdsm club that he realized what the dom was doing was abuse. Eric: hoooooo b o y, well, his backstory was awful before. Now it's uh, downright trigger worthy. I won't go into detail, let's just say Pops has a bad touch way of getting Eric to "calm down". He is a quiet, anxious boy. We all know his canon story. He feels guilty that he's the only one of his siblings living now. And Derek doesn't help. He's moved out and with Klancy, because I want them to be friends and you can fite me in the pit. Klancy-aside from Host-is the only one that knows what Derek's been doing since uh, Klancy being Klancy decided he'd try the dad on for size and Derek said some questionable things in the heat of the moment. Klancy has practically adopted Eric, he'll fight Derek.

❅ : Advice to non-role play blogs that want to get started?

i wrote advice literally years ago that i can’t be bothered to find now, so i guess now is as good a time as ever to re-write it.

i’ll put the first bullet above the cut b/c i feel like some stuff is important for everyone to know, and some stuff is just relevant to rp blogs.

brush up on the lingo! the tumblr rp community has developed a language of its own. you’ll learn a lot through context or just asking questions (and if you don’t know what something means, don’t be afraid to ask!). i honestly think this language divide is a reason some ppl have problems with personal blogs reblogging their posts. i’m not sure everyone outside the rpc realises what personal blogs are. here are a couple of important terms:- personal blog: a non-rp blog, it doesn’t matter if you use your blog for posts about your personal life or it’s a fandom blog for graphics, it’s still a personal blog by most ppl’s standards.- muse / mun: i tend to prefer the word “mod” / “writer” to “mun” excepting the munday pun, but mun just means the person who runs the blog. muse is the character (or characters) written on a blog.- mutuals / non-mutuals: if you follow someone and they follow you back, you’re mutuals with them. otherwise, you’re a non-mutual.- private / selective / semi-selective: people who are picky about who they rp with, whether that means mutuals only, or only muses from a certain rp. these terms can be somewhat flexible, i consider myself semi-selective b/c i will rp with non-mutuals, but will turn down rps if i’m overwhelmed with replies or feel we’re incompatible as rpers.- meme: a term used to describe prompts that can take many forms, from symbols like this meme to memes where you have to add some input of your own, like a “five times __’d” meme you’d have to add whatever word you like in the blank.- banter / para / multipara / novella: again, these terms can kinda vary person to person. banter is typically about 100 words, para can be anywhere from 100 words to maybe 200. multipara i put at about 300-400. novella is just… go wild. i’ve written 2000 word replies on occasion.- tw/cw: trigger warning and content warning. these are used by tumblr a lot in general, but given rp (for an adult game series like dragon age especially) will inevitably deal with triggering or sensitive topics, i think it’s important to define.these are just a few examples, and if you’re ever confused, please ask someone. it’s better than not and annoying someone by sending an ask for a meme listed mutuals only.

make sure you get a rules / about / verses page before you start. if you’re established in a community people may rp with you without one, but if you’re new it’s important to establish yourself. here are some things i think are important to have in particular. it’s a little dragon age-rp/bioware-rp specific, but this is a dragon age blog. other things that i didn’t mention b/c it wasn’t necessarily relevant to interacting: have a name/nickname, age, and pronouns on your rules AND your character’s about page. even if it’s just “18+” or “minor” if you’re not comfortable giving your exact age.some people will refuse to write with minors for their own comfort, and having this information will limit miscommunication and misgendering.

lots of people use icons, and they’re a lot of fun to use! but you also don’t have to use them. some people may not rp with you for it, but that’s their loss. i will say it’s becoming more accepted since when i first made solas. it wasn’t so much of a thing when i first started tumblr rp, then it became a thing, then it backed off again. i personally use them when i can b/c i find they add a little extra something, but don’t have icons for every verse.

make sure your page is legible. aesthetic is nice, but people here have vision problems and super tiny font or dark font on dark backgrounds can strain people’s eyes. remember rping is mostly about writing, so if you have a page that doesn’t show off your writing, you’re doing yourself a disservice!

i’d recommend making a separate blog rather than making a sideblog, or if you do make a sideblog, then having a hub blog/main rp blog you follow from. often i don’t look at personal blogs that follow me at all (i have a hard time keep track of new followers in general), so if ppl have a personal they follow from and an rp sideblog i may miss this entirely.

make sure you turn on your asks and anonymous questions if you’re comfortable with them. i forget this sometimes still lmao.

know that it’s ok to make mistakes! i’ve had ppl tell me they’d love to get into darp but don’t know dragon age lore all that well. there’s nothing wrong with that. i have learned so much about the lore since making solas, and there’s still stuff i don’t know! if you feel unsure still, i’d suggest figuring out what your character would/wouldn’t know about and familiarising yourself with that via the dragon age wiki for example if you’re making a dwarven oc (please, i need so many more in my life) who is from orzammar but is now a surface dwarf, i’d recommend reading the pages about orzammar and surface dwarves, and from there you can find related pages. your character will never know everything about the universe, so it’s ok if you don’t, either. i play one of the more knowledgeable characters in the series, and even he doesn’t know everything.

don’t godmod / metagame / forceship etc. this probably could’ve been up with the definitions, but i felt was important enough to warrant its own section.- godmodding is when you force the other writer’s character to do something. like, in a fight, you say one character kicked another character in the face. you’re not the one who decides that, they are, all you can say is your character tried to kick them in the fact. conversely, making your character dodge every move would also be a jerk move. i’d recommend fight scenes be discussed ooc tbh. mild godmodding is sometimes accepted. say our characters are drinking and yours hands mine a drink, most people will accept you writing that my character takes the drink. there would be a line, however. like if you then stated my character loves the drink and has never had anything like it, that’d be godmodding. mild godmodding often helps move threads along, though if you’re unsure about something, feel free to ask! most people will appreciate it.- metagaming is when your character has knowledge they couldn’t or shouldn’t. i have in my rules that you can’t know solas’s true identity w/o asking me first and establishing it ooc before you do so ic. in canon solas is careful with what he reveals about himself, and the only person who really suspects him for any length of time is vivienne.- forceshipping is when you force a relationship onto another character. typically this refers to romantic shipping, but i think it can apply to any relationship. for example, if an inquisitor lavellan were to call my solas “vhenan” it would be forceshipping, as i am singleship. but also, if someone were to project a friendly or even negative relationship onto my a character, it’s also a form of forceshipping imo. remember you can only control how your character feels about someone, and not the other way around. in your head blackwall may be the dad your character has never had, and your character can treat him so, but don’t expect a blackwall rper to fill that role if they don’t want to!

penny is quite the opposite of colby, and also a much Newer muse than him so this might be shorter and a little less developed than his but i’m working on it ok !! check her stats page right HERE. 

well i don’t mean to boast and say that penny was the inspiration behind godfrey university, but she was totally the inspiration behind godfrey university lmao. penny, whose full name is penelope, was actually raised in hillsboro, oregon with her two older brothers named max and charles. their parents were as affectionate as they could be but mostly they just focused on their careers and income, which gave all of the children a good understanding of the phrase ‘hard work pays off’ since they’re now a rather wealthy family. they were spoiled enough to all receive brand new cars on each of their sixteenth birthdays and own an estate with a vineyard and several horses. it was a seemingly perfect childhood for the bardes kids. however, it wasn’t gold and rainbows forever for penny.

she was only 12 years old when the symptoms began. it started with headaches and dizziness which the doctors then just treated as dehydration, but it seemed to quickly grow into something much more than that. penny started losing her balance altogether, her head spinning with so much pressure that she even temporarily lost her hearing and sometimes resulted in nausea or vomiting. a trip to the emergency room a few months later would end in misery for her, as they so ran many torturous tests that would determine her hearing abilities and other motor skills for the following several hours. fortunately they were able to come to a diagnoses, and it was a shocking one for everybody because typically it was only common in older people, but penny was diagnosed with meniere’s disease.

it’s an incurable disease, and even the smallest noises would trigger her symptoms and it affected her all throughout high school, educationally and socially. every time that she’d gain her hearing back it’d be just slightest bit more faint, so classmates started referring to her as ‘the deaf girl’ along with many other nasty rumors of her that kept her up at night in tears and generally gave her Hella anxiety. the horses at her estate were v therapeutic for her during this time, and even if it was difficult for her to continue riding them she still did, which one day ended her up in the hospital with a broken arm after getting vertigo while riding. basically penny’s kind of a rule breaker. she doesn’t let her disease control her and she still lives her life as she normally would even despite her symptoms.

still, that mindset didn’t really help her in getting a boyfriend. she’s always lived in the shadows of her older brothers, who were the popular football-playing jocks throughout high school and college. the oldest one, charles, is even NFL bound which means that max isn’t too far behind. they ended up at oregon state university playing for the beavers while penny was just kind of left behind to fend for herself. most people who know her brothers ( which is actually many people considering their renowned personalities ) don’t even know that they have a sister, so it was always difficult for her making friends and settling down into a relationship. most guys just throw her into the friendzone, which she’s actually not upset about because at least they show her Some attention. 

godfrey university was always penny’s first-choice school. it’s exclusive, quiet, accommodative for her disease, and most importantly it Isn’t where her brothers go to the school. she viewed it as an opportunity to start fresh, to make a name for herself other than just ‘the deaf girl’ or ‘max and charles’ little sister’ or whatever, but even then it was hard for the girl to break out of her shell. she’s quite introverted and tight-lipped when it comes to her disease, but the moment that you get through her first barrier the rest kind of crumble away with it. she trusts people way too easily. very naive and gullible and willing to do whatever it takes just for people to like her, whether that means putting herself at risk or not. she’s a virgin, and has only kissed a handful of guys beforehand which all ended terribly, but she’s also a hopeless romantic. she honestly just wants Friends ?? basically just make her feel wanted and loved and then she’ll give you the world in return.

Pt1. Lia, it's making me feel VERY uncomfortable that the person that have a quite vocal opinionated spiel about you has a url with my bias' name in it. I didn't even actively search for that person's blog but it kept popping up in my dash and i hate that i clicked on it because now i am aware who uses that url.

I can’t help it though, it’s also making me uselessly worry that next time they’ll come at Chanyeol supporters who does not fit their ‘headcanons’ and fuck I really want to go off anon but my main has personal things I’d rather they don’t taint or trash so… 3”:/ a friend told me that this person changed their url but i didn’t want to check.that’s sad, i was going to tell you what i tell myself when i just wanna stan my faves for themselves and fandom is making things unnecessarily hard, but i’m just gonna tell you that even tho i don’t feel the same way about him i understand how you feel. i never thought it would happen to me (to start disliking something because of the behavior of some people in fandom) i thought it’s just simple fandom things, it’s not that deep. but after having smth negative constantly drilled into your head after a while you cant help but develop some kind of aversion.and after what happened to me, knowing that there’s people in fandom doing these kinds of things, i don’t blame you for feeling insecure, paranoid or depressed even (a non anon told me they had to leave bc it was triggering their depression) and wishing to keep your personal space safe from trolls. these people’s behavior is setting up a dangerous environment where it’s ok for anyone to lie about you, to put people on display for others to shame, make them a target of hatred and harassment, just because you don’t like/understand them. also, those ppl spreading their lies and supporting them is basically an ignorant and easily impressionable crowd that loves scandals more than they care about people and figuring out what’s going on. and they feel so brave in a crowd, hiding behind other people’s posts and anon messages. i’ve heard that some of these people are actually into some of the stuff i’ve been accused of so one day they could find themselves targeted by the same group they supported. ppl like this are super conflictive and when they’re not destroying others they destroy themselves.it’s unsurprising how a lot of the stuff that happens in fandom reminds me of bigger social phenomena but on a fandom scale like some sort of ugly simulation.so yeah i can see why you’d feel this way and you should protect yourself if you’re not feeling safe, but this is also why i say we can’t let people like these intimidate us. it’s disheartening to be treated like this but in a way i’m glad they’re going against me and not other smaller blogger that ppl might not know as well as me and who might not have any support and might end up having to leave, or worse. because online harassment is not smth to be taken lightly, a lot of people (esp women, LGBT+ and mentally ill people) come online to destress, to escape from all the irl bullshit we have to deal with all the time, to find company, to cope, etc. it’s not fair to have malicious or self-righteous strangers chasing us away from our own spaces and attempting to isolate us by manipulating and threatening everyone around us too (these ppl prob have their own issues as well but abusing others isn’t gonna do you any good. go find some healthier hobbies maybe? talk to someone about it? unless what they’re after is some sick satisfaction from tormenting other people)this just makes me want to stay here even more and oppose that mentality by merely existing, having (and providing for others) a place where it’s ok to be a little different, to be able to have opinions that might not be very popular and express ourselves with honesty and w/o fear, to be more tolerant and treat each other like people, not to dehumanize them simply because you ship a different ship or because you have a twisted idea of them and that’s more important than actually listening to them (they literally did to me the same thing they do with their ships. im an obsessive shippers’ headcanon too lol. and they want me to be a horrible person so bad so they can have an excuse to hate on me because they hate some of the stuff i’m interested in (i.e. ksoo topping and unhealthy themes in fiction).i’m too attached to my fandom to just walk away and let people destroy each other like that. this solves nothing and it’s the opposite of concern and love.

I think back in the early half of 2016 it was pretty commonly accepted, and people saw that sl as his redemption, but since then those members of the fandom have largely disappeared and been replaced w/ ppl who joined post-ssw and imo bypassed the gravity of 2015 on their binges. so its easy for them to brush off his worst behavior & make excuses for it (or pretend it didnt happen altogether) .. and thats where u get the current shipper consensus

Yeah, I can’t keep track of dates at all (me? a History student?) but when I think of who may have expressed the belief that Robert is abusive, many of them are gone now. Though I also can’t say how much bc of my own hiatuses and inability to keep track of ppl’s url’s and url changes lmao. (I’m a mess.) 

But yeah I can understand that, the weight of those scenes are quickly forgotten if you then are going straight into watching things that may be seen as redemptive and many of the worst things he has done are in the past. Im I won’t judge it bc I haven’t watched even in ages and a lot of specific things I literally may have forgotten about entirely but it is like. Something that should be reminded as... pretty abusive. If you don’t ship them and you DID watch it then and dealt with those scenes are they happened, it makes perfect sense to see him as abusive. It also makes sense if you don’t watch it so closely as a shipper if you see that on paper, or just those scenes, it’s abusive? That should be entirely respected that people see them that way. Even as a shipper. Bc Im it used to be? 

Also it shows that people who find him cheating with Rebecca really differently have not had to watch live him do worse things and have to deal with that. Bc that’s hardly the worst thing he’s done but, w/o judging, I guess you didn’t have to watch that at the time and stress over whether you could deal w/ that or what would happen next etc etc but could just continue watching and see yourself how you still feel about them and what would happen next and you’ll have gone through that whole emotional rollercoaster in the matter of maybe hours and that in hindsight won’t have as much impact as having watched the whole sl (and fandom implosion) as it happened~

The excuses thing is the most difficult because honestly I think that IS difficult for abuse survivors for people to see others trying to make excuses for abusive behaviour, and like I said, what should matter most is respecting real people. So I find that doing something that may be really difficult for abuse survivors to see... uncomfortable. 

And also bc it’s not needed? You don’t need to excuse anything Robert has done and I have always tried to avoid that. You can just say, in a general~ way, ‘this character is problematic but I enjoy them as a character’ (honestly, I have liked characters worse than Robert before but they’re interesting characters so?). You can like a problematic character and know they are problematic and others have every right to hate them for that. You don’t need to find reasons why the things they have done are somehow okay, or not that abusive. Because honestly there is nothing wrong with liking characters who are bad people or have been bad people but are redeemed somehow - which is also a valid opinion of ‘they have been terrible but for me are redeemed’? - but making excuses for specific acts that are seen as abusive is itself quite harmful. There is no reason why emotionally abusing someone would be okay and if you have been emotionally abused that narrative can be triggering, or make you question yourself and whether you’ve really been abused or whether it was your own fault even???

so tl;dr yo ppl, you can accept that robert is someone who has done bad things and STILL like him, for whatever reason (that he’s been redeemed, that he’s not currently abusive, that you maybe you don’t even like him but you still ship the ship bc you don’t think THAT’s abusive (bc Im the most abusive things he’s done lately to me are to Rebecca?) or that you just enjoy the storyline because it’s interesting?) and not excuse specific acts, because those ARE things people may have done irl, that people in fandom may have dealt with (no not pushing someone through rotten floorboards but Idk belittling someone’s self harm or~) and they are not defensible. You just don’t NEED to do that to make yourself feel okay for liking a problematic character, you can like the character and it’s actually BETTER to admit they have done things wrong, things that have been abusive (rather than excuse them) but to just say you enjoy the character anyway or you don’t think those things are how he is now!
