The curse of being loved
Tumblr media
This ficlet is my peace offering to @sortumavaara.
I have not forsaken your blorbo. I swear... I'm just not good at writing him lol
@elanna-elrondiel you wanted to be tagged. @cilil this is your fault for enabling and encouraging me!
Characters: Elrond, Elros, Elwing, Maglor, Maedhros
Words: 1,5k
Warnings: Sadness, Eldritch powers, kids are creepy, self-realisation, murder, canonical slaughter, canonical kidnapping
Tumblr media
The first language Elrond had ever heard was the breathless cries of amazement and captivation at perceiving, and he’d understood it at once even though he didn’t yet comprehend the power inherent to that instinctive reaction of bone-deep awe.
As was expected and natural, he was loved and cherished by his parents, and, if he noticed that their level of watchfulness went beyond that of others, he did not think anything of it.
Why would he have? He’d never known any other way of being treated.
Likewise, he’d never really questioned the strange appeal he and Elros seemed to hold for almost any other adult in the dismal camp of refugees. They were twins, a two-pronged beacon of life and hope, and it made sense that those who’d previously suffered such pains and deprivation would feel inexorably drawn to the soft, open faces of young children.
Elrond was aware that—in a world full of lurking danger and dark doom—he was vulnerable and precious to the adults in his life, not least because of the importance and wisdom of his genitors who were still utterly besotted with his charming smiles and pleading glances.
As time went by, though, he soon learned how to capitalise on that undeniable weakness in that self-forgotten, profoundly selfish way that was typical for toddlers.
Thus, he observed the reactions of those surrounding him with dispassionate curiosity, adjusting his mannerisms and voice in a myriad of discreet, nigh-imperceptible ways to consciously exacerbate the strange, alluring, corrupting effect he had on people.
In time, and almost despite himself, he started to tilt his head in a way that made his eyes gleam and his skin appear fragile and translucent like the finest porcelain, having ascertained through trial and error that this made it patently impossible for anyone looking at him to avert their eyes or deny him even the most outlandish request.
Barely out of infancy, he was continually perched on someone’s arm like a wondrous bird wrought of unconfessed wishes and stardust—back then, he was blessedly ignorant of his own lineage and the terrible might it conferred to him, and he shamelessly basked in the attention and admiration with which he was unceasingly showered.
Slowly but obdurately, all his motions grew thoughtful and elegant long before other children his age had outgrown the phase of rambunctious chaos, and yet, neither he nor his brother was ever truly ostracised or mocked by their peers for their peculiar charm that invariably turned rational sages and ferocious warriors into blabbering fools.
They were loved by all they met, and they hadn’t yet made any experience that would push them to worry about something as self-evident and wholesome as the simple fact that people seemingly never grew tired of watching them play or listening to them talk, no matter the subject and its relative importance.
Growing older and fairer with every passing day, Elrond before long was overcome with the unshakable sensation that the people around him drew an unfathomable, indescribable sense of soothing and even healing from their every interaction with him, and so he pushed aside his nascent qualms at having praise and gifts bestowed upon him without measure or restraint.
Still, he felt adored, respected, and valued in his community, and he began to feel responsible for those who had taken such generous care of him in return. When he grew to his full strength, he vowed, he’d prove himself worthy of all the affection that had been heaped upon him for as long as he could remember.
One fateful day, though, their mother—in their father’s absence—threw herself into the arms of the sea, desperate tears channelling her bright gaze into a deadly beam of cutting devastation that would sunder her from her sons forever.
Elrond was too stunned to even cry out—he didn’t understand. How could a woman whose very purpose in life had been to coddle and adulate her sons do something so cruel and reckless?
Of course, he did not get the time to further muse about these confusing, contradictory truths in peace, though, as a stranger approached him, his long-fingered hands extended as if to promise with his whole body that he meant him and his brother no harm.
Was it instinct or habit, Elrond would never be able to determine later on, but, abandoned by his father and bereft of his mother, he shamelessly angled his face upwards to catch the flickering light of his childhood being put to the torch in his wide, wet eyes.
Robbed of all his anchor points, he fell back on the hitherto unquestioned, flawlessly reliable magic that coursed through his veins—pushing Elros behind him, he moulded himself into the most appealing version of himself to cow the ominous, looming threat by innate enchantment alone.
The stranger chuckled softly. “I used to do that,” he confessed in a soft, melodious voice that seemed to chime like a thousand golden strings. “Nelyo was always the pretty one, but I was ever able to coax and coerce people by a mere glance or a whispered word.”
Elrond flinched back as if struck. Why did this atrocious confession echo through his whole being, sending nauseating waves of shame and guilt crashing into his soul?
There was something so callously, insultingly veracious in that careless quip that Elrond felt his mask of puerile purity slip, revealing the deep-felt shock and sudden fear lurking underneath to the merciless stare of the murderous intruder.
“You truly are of Melian’s blood.”
Frowning, Elrond shook his head in a vain attempt to dispel the gossamer threads of dark and dangerous magic the man’s voice wove around his frantic mind, choking all sense of self-preservation and caution out of it mercilessly.
“Who are you?” he asked, feeling Elros’s cold hand press against the small of his back as if to encourage him or hold him back.
The fearsome foe hesitated for a heartbeat. “Maglor,” he then sighed. “Call me Maglor.”
At once, Elrond pounced on that minuscule mellowing. Stepping forward fearlessly, he put out his slender, tiny hand and conjured up his most enthralling, hypnotizing smile. “I’m Elrond, and this is my brother Elros. You wouldn’t harm us, would you?”
Wearily, Maglor—who was drenched in blood and covered in mud and miserable memories—let go of his blade and wiped his pale, empty palm across his sweat-sheened brow. “No,” he finally grunted. “I know not whence the spell you’ve put upon me has issued, and I like it not to find such power in one so young, but I admit that all bloodlust has drained from my heart. Come away, there is nought here for you but death and starvation.”
“You hexed him,” Elros whispered as they were led out of the camp. “There comes another one, can you do it again?”
In truth, Elrond was shaken to his core. After a bountiful childhood at the bosom of his parents’ people, he now came to understand that he wielded a fearsome and potentially perilous power.
He yearned to seek out his mother’s wisdom or his father’s stalwart support, but he knew not where they were, and he doubted that he’d ever be reunited with them.
Too many epiphanies—much too weighty and woeful for a mere child to fully fathom—hit him at once, and he longed to curl up in the warm, protective arms of those who’d gathered around his bassinet and his naïve games to cheer and comfort him at every turn.
From the foul fumes of burning wood and smouldering stone emerged a figure—tall and stiff as a moving tree—and Elrond closed his eyes for a moment, trying to recall every single instance in which he’d tricked someone into giving him an undeserved treat or forgiving a careless trespass upon their peace and property.
“Káno, what do you think you’re doing?” the newcomer rasped impatiently.
“Speak to the child,” their new minder, already half won over, replied in a clipped voice that turned his words into a hailstorm of icy shards. “You’ll see that I had no choice in the matter.”
With a scoff, the red-haired demon turned and stalked away.
“He’s afraid of your talents,” Elrod cheered under his breath, and Elrond let him believe that the battle he was about to fight without even knowing his weapons was already won.
He’d have but little time to become consciously aware of his skills and hone them sufficiently to save their lives, but he’d not burden Elros with the devastating knowledge that they’d be on their own and at the mercy of their parents’ enemies henceforth.
When Maglor turned to lift his orphaned captives into his unyielding arms, Elrond leaned his soft cheek against the worn, dirty fur collar of his cloak in a gesture reminiscent of a defenceless kitten, seeking shelter and warmth.
“Leave it to me,” he whispered. He’d not only make these murderers spare their lives—he’d make them love him.
Tumblr media
Again, this was an attempt at breaking me out of my writer's block, so there is no event, no Masterlist, no context...
Lots of love from me!

Omg hiii I looove oversharing about my blorbos 😋
Anyway Simeon is my favorite guy ever and has been since the beginning I'm completely obsessed with him bc he's literally perfect tell my WHY on gods green earth he's always getting swept under the rug. Why does this man never get any attention and when he does why is he mischaracterized. He's got it all. He's tall and handsome in kind of an ethereal effeminate way, he's sweet and kind but not a pushover, he's one of the most tragic characters in the game, he's the perfect muse for a religious trauma arc, a corruption arc, a "the calm collected one who's always having a good time finally snaps and goes apeshit" arc, I mean come on. Come on. Every time I remember that his main sin is wrath despite him being SO chill and gentle on the outside I want to giggle a little bit. My beautiful princess with identity issues and slutty waist I'm so sorry everyone ignores you
Solomon though. I don't remember how I felt about him at first (other than lots of gender envy) but he wasn't a favorite until I came back to the fandom after being absent for ages. Like damn this man is everything. He's so complicated /pos that I cant even articulate why I love him so much but he's so well written (maybe one of the only ones who are written halfway decently) and SO tragic. The way he's so desperately in love with the mc and is forced to watch them go for literally anyone else but would still do anything for them and ask for nothing but a little bit of loyalty in return is scrumptious. Also the way immortality just kinda fucks you up after a while when you're only human. I've been very tempted to put him in a poly ship with my mc and Simeon bc he deserves it but for now he just has to watch from afar as the man he loves endlessly makes out with his best friend that he also kinda sorta has a little crush on bc making the gays suffer brings me copious amounts of joy. He's also the "always totally calm and collected no matter what but actually has really strong feelings that he works to keep in check" type like Simeon and I love that for him. One of the fics I'm reading has him once become so panicked over the MC's wellbeing that he completely loses his composure. Yelling, trembling, the whole nine yards and it was fucking glorious, I love seeing characters like him break.
Also I have to talk a little about Lucifer. He's not generally a favorite but I just think it's funny how I went from hating his guts bc I thought he was an asshole to to liking him a lot bc I have a weak spot for big brother characters. He loves his family so so so much and just has trouble showing it properly!! He's still an asshole and an uptight prick but I like that about him now. My mc had the same development with him as I did, he went from "I hate this motherfucker I wanna kill him also he kinda scares me" to "this is my big brother we are holding hands :)" in the span of like a year and a half and it's really funny. Lucifer thought he was finally getting a sensible housemate and friend but ended up getting another insufferable, headache indicung little brother figure instead. Also I kinda have a non canon ship between him and my MC's father bc the idea is SO funny but also a little cute bc they compliment each other real well. My mc would become homophobic so fast if he found out and thinking about it is incredibly entertaining
thank u for oversharing teehee <333
the side characters are sooo fun and interesting i wish so badly that theyd get to be ever so slightly less on the side :,D
the dynamic between your mc and simeon and solomon PAIN UGH i love it.. <333 my heart hurts for solo but the yearning.... MMM
and absolutely felt about lucifer, i wish i could hate him and leave it at that but he makes it so hard. i have such a complicated relationship with this man but i cant bring myself to genuinely hate him hahaha

Venomous Teachings au: The Underworld Duo
Talking more about this au bc I’ve got brainworms, so I’m starting off talking about my blorbos: Garmadon and Nya
Tumblr media
So Nya is captured by the Skulkin like in cannon, and she’s taken to the Underworld.
After a few days, she gets a visit from the man behind the Skulkin, Wu masquerading as the Dark Lord Garmadon. He’s wearing a mask and a big cloak and has something that changes his voice, so she doesn’t recognize him as the weird old man who came by the blacksmith shop just before the Skulkin attacked.
He says some ominous stuff, telling Nya that she won’t be harmed, he just needs something from her brother, and then she’ll be released. Nya gets pissed, yelling at him to stay away from Kai, and when Wu ignores her and turns away to leave, she throws her shoe at him, knocking his mask off and recognizing Wu.
This pisses him off immensely, and he then tells her that she will never leave the Underworld now, but he isn’t going to kill her yet bc she might be useful with something. He Samukai to have her locked up deep in the Skulkin’s base, and then he leaves.
While being moved from where she’s being held, Nya is rescued by Garmadon in a Skulkin ‘disguise’, which is just a big cloak and a kinda crappy mask. It’s very effective.
Tumblr media
He has one for her to wear, and the two are able to make it to a rather run-down Skulkin vehicle that Garmadon stole years ago and escape.
They make it back to Garmadons ‘home’, which is a cave, where Nya learns what’s really going on; the weird 6′10″ man-cat that just saved her is the real Garmadon, they guy who kidnapped her is his evil little brother Wu, and the fate of the world rests on Wu not getting ahold of the Golden Weapons that Garmadon hid years ago
When Garmadon realizes who Nya’s parents are, he realizes that Wu went after the siblings bc he needed Kai to get the Sword of Flame, and Nya was probably taken to give him a reason to help Wu
Nya immediately wants to get back to Ninjago to shove her other shoe up Wu’s butt, but there’s a small issue.
The only way to move between the Underworld and Ninjago is with one of the Skulkins vehicles, but the one that Garm stole had that part severely broken, and he hasn’t been able to figure out how to fix it. The fact it was broken was why it was so easy for him to steal it in the first place.
With Nya’s help and mechanical talent, they get the vehicle fixed
After one year
During this year, Garmadon is helping Nya master her elemental powers, teaching her Spinjitzu, combat, survival skills, how to cheat at poker, etc. The two wind up growing close during this time, forming a familial relationship. But while all this is happening, Nya is...changing, in an unexpected way
Tumblr media
((I gave Garm a new outfit bc 1) it looked weird to me to have him not change when I was drawing these and 2) I gave him and Nya some of each others colors to symbolize them having formed a bond))
I’ll go into more detail about these lore changes in a future post, but while most Elemental lines started with the First Spinjitzu Master gifting elemental powers to certain trusted humans, Wind and Water come from being direct, physical descendants of Wojira.
Much like Garmadon, being in the Underworld for an extended period of time started to bring Nya’s not-human heritage to the surface. If either of them were normal humans, being stuck in the Underworld for a long period of time would have slowly killed them.
Neither of them know any of this, and both think its some form of corruption from the dark energies in the Underworld. For now.
Anyway, the two are eventually able to get back to Ninjago, but due to their changes and Garmadons unearned infamy, they have to cobble together some...interesting disguises
Tumblr media
If anyone asks, they just say they’re uncle and niece, and that a rare skin condition runs in the family.
Nya pretends that her horns are a part of her headband.
The hat does nothing, Garmadon just thought it completed the look.
But, the first thing they do is head to where Garmadon hid the Map to the Golden Weapons to try and make sure it doesn’t fall into his hands. They have their first confrontation with Wu’s ninja team there, but that’s for another post.

2023 Character Wrap
Top 9 characters for the year.
1.) Major Anthony P. Havers-BBC Ghosts
aka my soft boy.
(Surprise the self-proclaimed Havers lunatic loves Havers 😉) Just know this man stole my heart in 2021 in under 4 minutes (the microexpressions fml) and this year it was my highlight to see him again. He's kind, protects the man he loves from ridicule, has a boyish grin and a cheeky streak. He likes dancing. He fell for his beau because he was attracted to his kindness. He's been through it and continues to go through it 😢Also PSC answered my question about him and I'm still screaming about it to this day🥺💖
Tumblr media
2. The Captain -BBC Ghosts
aka my creaky boy.
He is silly, kind, gay and autistic, a dad, sometimes bitchy and one of my most beloved characters ever. Also so gorgeous and a little bit pathetic. I adore him with all my heart and soul. Blorbo from my shows.
Tumblr media
3. Thraxus Boorman -Willow 2022
Sarcastic, great fighter, loyal, kind but he'll jump of cliffs to deny that (literally), the funniest character of 2023 and an absolute iconic bi disaster. He's a classic rogue, as is his absolute badass girlfriend.
Tumblr media
4.) Joe Pritchard -The light in the hall
aka Joe, babes
Such a brilliant character, somehow really dark and mysterious but ultimate kicked puppy vibes. He'll keep you (and himself) guessing until the end if he really killed someone. He has amnesia due to traums. I really wasn't sure until the end if he did it or not. Amazing character. My Boy needs 1 million hugs.
Tumblr media
5.) Graydon Hastur-Willow 2022
aka Graydon, babes aka Prince of darkness
A prince who loves learning esp. languages, very, very dark past, kind, loving, just some guy in love, easily corrupted but he's fighting it. and as it turns out he has a gift for magic. The sweetest love confession ever.
Tumblr media
6. Barbara Parker/Sophie Straw-Funny woman
Gorgeous, hilariously funny, smart, sweet, standing up for what she believes in and makes her way in an industry that only treasures her because of her looks. But she makes them see how brilliant her brain is.
Tumblr media
7. Sir Humphrey Bone -BBC Ghosts
aka Humphrey my goldhaas
Awkward, kind and odd. He deserves all the love in the world and to be seen and loved for who he is. This year he's getting revenge on those who ignore/mistreat him and I am here for it. Boy is not the best listener though.
Tumblr media
8. Lord Adam Quinn -A kind of spark
aka my pretty evil princess
He is legit evil okay. But idgaf. Great villain and his modern day equivalent makes me weak in the knees. Portrayal wise he is also a small amount of ridiculous and I love that.
Tumblr media
9. Robin the caveman - BBC ghosts
aka my chaos gremlin
Kind, wise, chaotic little gremlin also sometimes more the family dog than anything else. Loves space. Utterly hilarious and tragic at the same time. His worst trait is incest according to him. I love him so much I'm gonna get a tattoo that's just about him.
Tumblr media
To be fair I have a plethora of beloved characters that rotate in my brain 24/7 but these nine were either new or in special focus this year. Ghosts hyperfixation is at it's absolute peak, I was barely able to watch anything else. Also I watched some things that didn't leave me with a favourite character 🤷🏻‍♀️However honourable mention has to be Allan from Barbie.
Tumblr media
I'm tagging @hollow-ghost-fire , @unusual-ly ,@ineffablelunatic , @tonightwedance and @realismreading

WHY hasnt anyone made the connection yet between ice pick joe and leon trotsky. in the movie with the inexplicably russian names. like the movie is clearly a metacommentary on the USSR with goncharov becoming more and more of a stalin-figure (also the moustache?? the scarred hand??????????? hello????? why arent you all seeing this), irredeemably corrupted by his ambition for power literally culminating in him ordering the death of amarro. BY ICEPICK. in the goriest scene of the film (im not going to say most violent bc. the andrey scene was intense.and heartbreaking and oh my god the quietness of it made it so much harder to watch even though you dont actually see his hands around andreys neck its just goncharovs face as he carries it out and then its done im sorry its a tangent (its what everyone is here for dont lie) but the performances in this film were fucking electrifying).
Like He Is Sentenced To Death Via Icepick. bc goncharov doesnt want to expand his horizons. Its time to think about franchising but weve seen everything goncharov has gone through to get this far. naples is his home. hes already strangled ANDREY his best friend his rival his gay boyfriend gay sex lover homosexual boyfriend to get to where he is and he was promised naples one day and amarro just wants... to move on? he wants to franchise and give goncharov the franchise, so he can keep naples under his thumb and goncharov can have piss-all in comparison. Like amarro knows that its fucking the end like Winter Has Come To Naples that its best for goncharov to take the operation to a shiny new city but goncharov doesnt know that. like its winter. his boyfriend is dead and he killed him. goncharov is left in the snow.
also like. winter=nuclear winter. goncharov is the new shiny weapon hes the next evolution of warfare hes the up-and-comer the scrappy kid with nothing to lose He Is The Bomb he destroys himself and everything around him.
and like Another Side Note bc im writing this verrry disorganised sorry i keep thinking of things bc theres SO MUCH to think about w this movie im just trying to get it all down while its fresh in my mind. back to the USSR stuff while i take slight issue w this portrayal bc its clearly a very capitalist take (the ussr did not operate like a mafia... to say so is a shallow take grossly informed by propaganda starting and ending at 'muh mob hits are just like secret police'. Ignoring the fact that every country has police) (dont come at me about it here if youre just gonna call me a tankie this is a goncharovpost) it was written by an american in the 70s and the ghost of mccarthy haunted all production so Eh what can you do. i do think it was unexpectedly sympathetic to goncharov though? like maybe this is just me being internet blorbo poisoned to the extent that i see a fake dude with a moustache cause untold harm and go Gonna Put Him In The Jar "he just like me fr" (in a queered transgender irony kind of way. i prommy. none of you who are gayposting about gonchandrey are morally superior to me youre all doing it)

(not @ u btw) said with all the love in the world to leliana my bestie the loml but it irritates me so much that theres so little out there recognizing her flaws. theres people who dont like her who dont recognize her actual flaws at all & theres people who do like her who also dont recognize those character flaws. her biggest flaw imo is being willing to ignore & bend her morals for the people she loves which is such an interesting character flaw! it makes her more complex & gives her depth & its a good writing decision by sheryl chee & it so often just gets ignored by the fandom as a [very general] whole which is so augh. wheres stuff about her relationship with an amell/surana or mahariel or tabris & how that works for them when leliana is supporting this corrupt system! leliana is such a fascinating character to me & her background character journey between origins and inquisition is something that can be so personal
anyway all to say wheres that tweet thats like ‘i lose all my principles when i see a pretty woman’ & someone responds ‘well maybe you should have principles’ & op replies ‘ur right maybe i should’ bcs thats leliana and the warden
YESSS agreed!!! its so complicated and so INTERESTING and its definitely angst fodder for my warden (amell) and leliana. i love that all the angst of their romance happens after their meetcute (the fucking fifth blight) like the way they meet and everything is easy and then the reality of their situation (evadne, a blood mage apostate who becomes titled ferelden nobility vs leliana, the spymaster of the militant religious organisation trying to imprison mages like evadne) sinking its teeth into their relationship over the years, straining it to its very limit. it makes me a little bit insane to think of evadne and leliana tbh!!!!!
but on your other point, unfortunately i think this isnt a problem specific to leliana; i think/notice whenever people pick their favs in the fandom, there's a kind of... need for them to be morally above reproach? which is weird bc you can't throw a stone in thedas without hitting at least 3 war criminals, 2 of which are probably your party members if not your significant other/romance option? and there's this kind of "my blorbo merely suffers from bad writing and therefore has never done anything wrong ever (because i would NEVER pick a blorbo who is Morally Bad) but your blorbo is problematic (and therefore you are too because why would you like a Morally Bad character)" mentality that... isnt really useful or appealing to me.
MFDKSJFSDFJ PLSSSS that is literally leliana and the warden (and marjolaine tbh) its SO true. she's so relatable, but, respectfully, you could NOT catch me throwing away my morals like that but EMOTIONALLY like i get it. i get it

okay so i rewatched the batman for like the 5th time last night / this morning and i was having too many thoughts to put them all as a letterboxd comment so here are all my little semi connected ramblings on the film
starting off strong with right at the start the drophead guy that tried to rob the convenience store, its just so interesting to me that he was scared of the batman even when he wasnt there and so he ran back into the street and got hit by a police car but the police just yelled at him like they didnt try to stop him or anything -- metaphor for how the batman is offering solutions and providing suspects for the police and stuff but theyre too corrupt to do anything about it ? maybe
it’s the whole system -- just that quote is so good, i should remember who said it considering i literally watched the film 2 hours ago i think it was gil but again super good line just encompassing the fact that the gotham justice system does not offer justice, it is corrupt down to its core and it is failing the people
bruce wayne my blorbo this is just a point about how smart he is and like he just catches on to things but its interesting because he can understand how the riddlers brain works also when bruce punched jim and then jim was like you couldve pulled that punch and bruce was like i did he is so im just kind of obsessed with the fact that he trains for this and its just interesting anyway point about my poor little meow meow over back to analysis
the good cop batshit cop contrasted with brains and brawn -- bruce and jim work together well, they bounce ideas off eachother especially in that scene with the penguim and the way when jim pretended to side with his captain (??? i cant remember) bruce was like et tu? and then that contrasted with batman and the riddler the way riddler thinks hes working with bruce because they both understand a fundamental aspect of eachother and sure bruce is on the same wavelength as him sometimes but its only to track him down and riddler just completely does not realise
when alfred intercepts the assassination attempt and the card reads see you in hell, i feel like that wouldve twisted the knife even more; im not 100% familiar with the original deaths of martha + thomas but the whole senseless crime thing kind of echoes here, like all the other cards to the batman had a cypher or a clue or something but this is just senseless hatred that has no obvious lead for bruce to chase up
he mindmaps, i just like that its fun its fresh hes just like me fr
the way bruce and the riddler are tied together, like in the small things with the diaries but also theyre obviously both orphans and they can understand eachother, they were both born out of tragedy and that was the renewal fund and thomas + marthas deaths, where bruce was left without a mother or father alone in the world (ignoring alfred, as bruce did) the riddler was left without hope, they both use fear, though the batman uses it as a deterrant whereas the riddler uses it as inspiration and almost thrives off it
the way bruce misses the tucker, the carpet tool, showing that even if he fights for the city, even if he walks its streets, he is still a billionaire in a bat suit and there will be experiences and little things that he does not know and that shape his personality and the way he solves crimes
the way the batman begins with the whole i am vengeance thing but comes to realise that he needs to be a symbol of hope, someone for people to fall back on as he ends in the movie, the realisation as he hears his words come from someone wanting to cause only pain and immediatly sacrificing himself by cutting the electric thingy and falling into the water just seconds later

For the character ask game, would you do Finrod and Finarfin, please?
Of course!!
Tumblr media
Finrod
I absolutely love Finrod's aesthetic. He's a snake he's a himbo he's antropologist he's a shiny he's covered in blood. just. top tier
I've actually just remembered this but I did invent a name for him! Tyelpenimer, Silver Shadow, is a name Maglor gives Finrod in my werewolf au
I love fanon vision of Finrod, especially appearence-wise. He definitely wears loads of jewelry, loves laughing and is a sweetheart. However fandom is also 100% WRONG. I don't love it when Finrod's portrayed as this perfect unproblematic cousin, or as holier-than-thou person, or as an optimistic ball of sunshine. My beef is probably with "holier-than-thou", mostly because I picture Finrod as someone who's pretty much able to see his own mistakes and to be fully aware of his wrongdoings. That's why I hate when C&C or, God forbid, Sauron are pictured as having moral high ground because "at least they're aware they did wrong things and aren't hypocritical"
Finarfin
Tumblr media
HE'S A LEGEND HE'S AN ICON AND HE *IS* THE MOMENT
the man the myth the blorbo
HIS AESTHETIC ALRIGHT. he's a noldo by heritage, vanya by mother and teler by choice. no one does it like finarfin
NO ONE GETS HIM LIKE I DO (/jk)
No but for real, fandom does him dirty. I rarely see him as something more than a background character, and even then, he's usually kind, quiet and forgiving. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure he posesses these traits, and I love that in him, BUT THEY'RE NOT ALL THAT CHARACTERISES HIM!! he's sad he's lonely he's hurt and he's angry!!!! and he has SO much potential. honestly it makes me sad there's not much aracentric fics
his hair glows in the dark. during war of wrath it glows constantly. i will take this headcanon into my grave and make tolkien canonise it
there's not much fanart of him which is a shame, though the fanart that exists is spectacular
there's like ten lines about him in canon. i based my entire personality around those ten lines. can you tell people find me weird
yes fanon is MEAN to him. I still remember vividly his description as a mommy boy, crybaby and a coward, all in one fic that claimed to be "objective" and "historically accurate". i also came across a take that pictured him as a corrupted power-hungry character, worse than both his brothers. though also fandom mostly ignores him which is just as mean because it makes me sad (/lh)
THERE IS SO MUCH PROJECTION. i'm sorry he's just a character that matters a lot to me

So as promised here’s my part vent, part setting boundaries about Millennium muses in Maxwell and Pip’s primary fandom. TW for discussion of Nazis and fandom discourse. This is not my attempt to enter said discourse, only to avoid it by making my stance clear. Nothing here is up for debate or discussion. Dissenters will be blocked as clearly we are not going to get along in the same fandom space.
Anyway, Millennium muses will never be welcomed on this blog to the point that I will block them on sight. I understand that the faction is integral to the overall story of Hellsing, but there is a marked difference between canon depicting them as villains to be brutally disposed of and a member of fandom humanizing, softening, and trying to make these same Nazis palatable to the wider roleplay community. I have no interest in ever engaging with members of this fandom who are short-sighted and ignorant enough to pretend that they exist in a bubble where trying to soften the edges of a real world hate group, even when depicted through a fictional lens, is acceptable behavior.
In short, there are still living victims of real people who share the beliefs of these characters. It’s too soon. It is entirely too soon to try and woobify or make blorbos out of Nazis, even fictional ones. I find it tasteless and hateful to present a character with such beliefs as anything more than an object of hatred.
“But Kadi, it’s just fiction--”
And that is true. Millennium is nothing but art on a page or animation on a screen, and have no power in the real world. Obviously. That’s not the point. The point is how other people interpret and embrace fiction, and how it makes me personally uncomfortable to the point of refusing to interact with those who engage with this text in a way that they come away with sympathy or admiration for Nazis.
“But Kadi, isn’t that alienating towards other roleplayers--”
No one is owed interactions. Period. Controversial characters and subjects are not owed engagement from the wider community, especially if said community makes it clear they are uncomfortable with the content these characters take part in. People are permitted to set their own boundaries. No one owes Millennium roleplayers a damn thing. As such, I will cultivate a page that brings me joy, because I do not owe them interactions or conversation just because we are in the same community, and I encourage anyone else who might be uncomfortable with these characters but not interested in ‘getting involved’ do the same. It’s your blog, your blacklist, and your choice. Don’t sacrifice any of those out of a misguided sense of community. It is not your responsibility to make others feel welcome at the expense of your personal comfort.
“But Kadi, this character isn’t a N--”
They literally work for a Nazi organization in canon. Stop pussyfooting around that fact. They don’t have to believe in the creed or preach the doctrine or whatever excuse people are coming away with to distance their muse from that fact. They’re part of the problem whether you want to look that in the face or not.
“But Kadi, you write Maxwell--”
Iscariot represents a small batch of zealot extremists in a larger neutral community. Millennium are Nazis. you can’t just casually be one of those. it’s a real world hate group.
Furthermore, I’m not here to condone his actions or make him look better. I am not this fictional character’s PR team. He is a bad person, and I can engage with the intricacies of that fact without acting like I am an oppressed group when others might not be comfortable with what he represents (religious zealotry/ corruption among the Catholic Church.)
“Can’t we all just be friends :(”

Red Dwarf for latest ask meme, of course. 😁
Thank you! :D
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most)
Of course it's self-described space bum, Dave Lister. He's such an appealing mix of cute and unexpectedly tough. He's friendly to all but takes no shit and is loyal to the death if you're part of his crew. Ever since I saw him refuse to shoot an (so he thought) unarmed simulant in "Justice", he's been my fave.  (Quite possibly before that but this was way back in 1990 and that memory stands out to me.)
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped)
This is also Lister tbh but if it has to be someone else, then KK1. She's just so cute.
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave)
Hattie's Holly. Bring her back! Just one ep, for smeg's sake.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week)
Well, he's only in one ep but he does get mentioned a handful more times so yep, it's Todhunter. I don't like the information we get about him in "Duct Soup" but it's Series VII so I ignore it. :p
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave)
Who else? Arnold Judas Rimmer, the man who can make you want to hug him one minute and slap him the next. ;)
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason)
Tempted to say Rimmer again because he's so uptight but if it has to be a different character - hmmm, why not Ackerman for being a sadistic, corrupt screw.
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell)
I was tempted to say various irritating minor characters but actually, the one who probably deserves it the most is Rimmer's "Dad". His Mum's nearly as bad but at least she didn't record a message for Arnold to open if he ever became an officer, instantly spoiling the moment by letting him know that he was actually the illegitimate child of their gardener Dungo (not that there's anything wrong with that in my book but it's exactly the kind of thing Arnold was brought up to consider shameful). Add the way his influence can still be seen in Rimmer's obsession with becoming an officer and off to superhell the bastard goes.
