I wouldve loved something with cody and mimi! theyre both so deeply empathetic and sensitive.. theres a lot they share but i think because they look so different on the surface it would make it difficult to market that merch...booo capitalism boooo toy marketing its all sexist bullshit at least here in the u.s. idk if japan is that different though.

I'm actually a little frustrated with how often 02 and 02 related media squanders cody in general lol. he feels like a parallel of izzy, joe, and TK(season 1 tk) while also being kind of none of those and suffering through lackluster characterization as a result... and then once ken joins the team it feels a little redundant. there's a couple cody-centric eps of 02 I remember really liking but then i think abt how he's been used since in like post-series content and 02:the beginning where they made him type on the computer even though obviously that's yoleis thing but because he had nothing else to do and aghh... my blood boils. i feel like the youngest but most serious anime achetype even at its bare bones is actually rly interesting idk why they don't play it up. UM. Once again my opinion is that he should be taller LOL and maybe they should play up his kendo martial arts honorable training stuff more idk. tallest + youngest + most serious just seems like a recipe for success for me. well. theres still time. and theres always fanfic.

THIS IS SO NICE TO SAY and not the first time someone has said it but i appreciate it everytime because i really admire the mm art style so much. It's like part of why I got really into the movie because I really recognized my own artistic sensibilities and aspirations in the way they stylized everything.

UM And i feel like since watching the movie and looking at all the concept art and making my own art i do feel like its only become more obvious how much my own art is lacking LOL LIKE when you see something that feels so similar I think the differences only become more stark. those artists are definitely on a different level than me. But it's nice to hear people say it doesn't look so different from their pov. thank u ^^

DLKGDSGDLALSNDF WAS IT TOO FAR..?? firstly, yeah I was thinking late teen/young adult ages for both of them ie 18-19ish, definitely not the age the kids are in the movie lol.

but also they arent DOING anything in that pic it is literally just a confrontation + some innuendo... I think teens should be allowed some less than subtle innuendo.. its like one of the top 3 classically teen pastimes...

this is such a funny ask to get because i feel like i haven't been able to do thin lineart until like. this past year or two maybe LOL. UM having a line-centric art job helped I think. I started on craig of the creek back in 2022 and thats a show where we spend a lot of time inking so I had a job where I was constantly moderating my line weight 40 hours a week every week for over a year. disappointingly, much of improvement is simply horrendous amounts of practice.

Here's a tip though: I think a lot of thin lineart boils down to confidence. I think instinctively we read thick, bold, fast lines as confident but theres actually a lot of obscuring you can do with a thick line. if you're not sure whether the nose on the face or a browline should be a little more left or a little more down you can hide that with a thick line and pretend its a shadow. or hide it with a bunch of quick lines and the eye can kind of approximate where looks best among the mass.. whereas a thin line is rly singular and stark and hides nothing, it needs to be precise. so anytime i know i want thin lineart i spend a LOT of time sketching, making sure i know exactly where i want my lines to go. so im not second guessing by the time im inking...

ok thats kind of a broad tip lol... here's one thats more applicable: IF POSSIBLE, lower your pressure sensitivity on your device. most devices have some way to edit your pressure sensitivity curve. I use a surface pro at home and this is what my pressure curve looks like most of the time.

When I work on a wacom it looks even more like a reverse L shape LOL. I'm naturally a really heavy-handed artist and I use a "light" or "hard" pressure curve to compensate for how hard I'm always pressing on the pen lol. if you're like me and you struggle with going too hard with the ink too fast... this will probably help a lot!

SFHASLDFH I LOVE THIS ASK this is like the type of question a person gets asked when chalk drawing on the sidewalk at recess LOL. but i understand because I've been struggling also for like. months. I think I'm finally starting to nail it down though so here's some of my observations.

[feel free to save this img but **please do not re-post it or share broadly**. my biggest fear in the world is to spend 30 min on some notes and become a widely proliferated art tutorial im not even kidding. i made it low contrast and difficult to read on purpose.]

my other tip is to just look at and study a lot of reference because that's all ive been doing. the tmnt are really cartoony so its difficult to use like actual anatomical reference unless ur going for that look BUT theres been so many adaptions in so many different styles that there's a real treasure trove of stuff to look at for how to simplify, stylize, and dissect these characters while keeping the recognizable essence. so theres lots to pull from.

If you want to expand further, it's also good to have 5) something sci-fi 6)something fantasy 7)something mundane/slice of life. a bedroom is a really good go-to. And of course some bgs can be two or more of these things at once.

I've definitely answered asks abt bg tips before but here's one specifically for if you want to do bg design for a job:

Your portfolio should probably have at least one of each of the following 1) an interior 2) an exterior 3) a cityscape 4) a nature scene. Just to cover kind of the basics of what you'd be asked to draw on any given project.

I actually feel like I don't have that many cityscrapes in my portfolio... this is something I'm gonna try to work on in the coming year LOL. OH ALSO. This is a very basic tip and people will tell you it all the time but its worth repeating: look up portfolio websites of artists who have the job you want. An easy way to do this is to go onto imdb for any cartoon or movie you like and to find the names listed as "bg/background designer" or whatever then just google that name +"art" or "animation" most artists have some public facing internet presence so it's not hard. spend time studying their work and hold those images in your head! it's a good way to get a good idea of what "industry standard" looks like and comparing ur own art to it... I know people sometimes get bummed comparing their art to others but if you can keep your head up lol.. it'll help you figure out what you need to work on!

buckandeddie immediately hit it off ofc and have insane chemistry. eddie does not hide that he is gay and everyone else knows but somehow buck misses this fact. so its been a few days maybe one shift cause theyre insane and buck is thinking about asking eddie out when he sees a picture of eddie and lena or smth and eddie makes a tongue in cheek joke about her being his wife, thinking it's obvious that they are both GAY. this goes totally over bucks head and he takes it seriously and he thinks they r actually married. cue angst and pining and misunderstandings and eddie flirting HARD and buck thinking: why is he flirting with me he has a WIFE why am i into him hes STRAIGHT but oh god hes FLIRTING with me i SWEAR and hes SO HOT!!!!!!!

so then buck goes to a gay bar to drink his sorrows away and try to move on but then he sees lena kissing a girl GASP and he goes to eddies house at midnight to tell him his wife is cheating on him. the conversation goes something like this

buck: she was kissing a WOMAN

GUIDE TO MY ORIGINAL CHARACTERS:

1. You Ate My Heart 🎀

This was an idea for a graphic novel I started in high school. The premise was a bit ridiculous (involved love spells, multiple dimensions and very abstract existential ideas) but I still am very fond of the characters and the themes of friendship, romance and depression, so I might eventually make something with them :)

Characters:

Kitty Chau/Zhou 🐈

She is the protagonist. She’s a Malaysian-Chinese student who immigrates to the USA in order to live up to her own academic expectations. She is honestly kind of a depressed and irrational person, but she also feels a lot of empathy from others. The premise begins because in a lapse of judgement she eats two hearts and ends up casting love spells on two others.

Winghead 🪽

He is one of the most popular guys at Kitty’s school. He is absolutely normal aside from the fact that he has wings on his head and no one knows his real name except for his family. He is well liked for being nice and chill to everyone. He used to date a girl named Inez (shown below) but they broke up at the end of Junior Year, and he still seems torn up about it. He is one of the people Kitty casts a spell on, and because he knows everyone in town, pretty much everyone knows when he starts acting awry.

Veel Abigail Drake 👹

She is a demon princess lol?? Kitty is jealous of her ability to express herself unflinchingly. She has some magical abilities like breathing ice and fire. She comes from another dimension (that is well known in the world, it’s just treated as like another country) and has a belligerent and extreme temper. She has a strong moral code that doesn’t really apply well in delicate situations. She is another person who Kitty spells, and bc she’s a princess, it messes up generations of politics LOL

The story seems SO serious but to be honest 90% of the time I draw these guys, it’s for the shits and giggles

2. Driver OCS 🏎️

I got really into motorsports this year (NASCAR, Le Mans, F1) so I started working on a story just to enjoy researching and writing a realistic + fun character within the world of racing!

Characters:

Santana Marsh 💥

He is half-Spanish one-quarter-Catalan and one-quarter-Irish. He was born in Louisiana but moved to North Carolina as a kid. He is 27 years old and I have written an entire backstory starting from when he began go-karting at age 8. He’s pretty much been driving his whole life. He’s competed in the Allison Legacy Series, Xfinity Series, Nascar Cup Series, and the WEC/Le Mans, and in 2024 he was signed onto the Scuderia Ferrari Formula One Team.

He’s very calm, jokey, and drives like no one else. However he also doesn't like to examine his own emotions due to his difficult relationship with his father after the death of his mother, which is something he needs to work on.

So if I were make a comic or something about him, it would be about his 2024 season, where he meets my other F1 driver characters, etc.

Logan Abujhaad 🌊

He is a rookie - two years into his F1 Career on the Mercedes Petronas team. He is 23 years old and Franco-Marocain. He has had a much less lucrative career than Santana and has a wealthy background - he grew up in Marseille. He competed in Formula Renault, Three, and Two with the support of his family.

He is polite and charming and has a lot of female fans. He’s ruthless on the circuit, and is quite promising as a rookie from his determination alone. His story follows his rivalry with his teammate and his friendship with Santana, as well as his personal struggles with his nervousness and regrets.

I also have other Formula One characters but these are the main two. You can see my other characters in this post.

I think my dream outcome for this project is to make an animated film. Who knows!!

roxxie zahhak: a little more into robots n shit than coding but still does that. bit of a jack of all trades! thinks deyirks lusus (its. kity) is the most special boy in the whole wide world. probably moirails w deyirk now that i think abt it but maybe not. im on the fence abt a lot of stuff here. uses some kind of prefix, emoticons have X for eyes, replaces x sounds with x, y (as a vowel) with ie, and s w z

deyirk leijon: WORLDS MOST NORMAL MAN (lying) lives in a cave in the middle of the woods not for catgirl reasons but because this guy is going insane in solitude works best when isolated. also uses some kind of prefix for a quirk. roxxie drops off robot parts at his house every few weeks and they make a day of it theyre Pals

jayque ampora: he helps feed gloybsub or whatever her name is and hes so normal about the deaths on his conscience. really hes so normal guys cmon. normal

but yeah thank you for enjoying Leigh Stasik The Cannibal Postfighter (gender neutral form of postman) And Her Wacky New Vegas Journey. glad to have shared it with you. but now, heres the thing. i find that the independent route in particular really really suffered from the game ending up somewhat unfinished and with a lot of cut content and reduced factions. the whole "chaos ensued, everyone was on their own, until shit finally calmed down thanks to the securitrons" - well i dont think its good enough. like ive mentioned before, in my head there exists a better version of the independent new vegas route, and the basis of it is properly uniting various scattered factions to form a coalition of support, respect, and building a better future. those are (putting shit under a readmore cuz i ended up rambling a lot):

- the followers of the apocalypse, obviously. i actually think its odd that when you talk to julie farkas right before hoover dam, shes like >_> uhh why should i support an independent new vegas, new vegas is so sucks with how all the poor people get locked outside with so few resources... girl?? like this has to have been a very haphazard way to patch the whole 'this was supposed to be a major faction' thing but like. new vegas isnt just the strip... new vegas is the strip, freeside, outer vegas (westside et al), all those semi-populated areas around it, and by all account all territory east of the red rock canyon, west of the colorado river, south of the northern passage, and north of the mojave outpost, which I'm Told is on the border between the new vegas territory and the ncr LUL... and besides, obviously ncr and the legion and mr house are not options with any intent of dismantling the inequality. like i think the response was meant to specifically regard a scenario where the courier just ends up holed up in the strip with all the securitrons, without making any effort to ally themselves with local factions, and without any regard for the people... but again, I Am Not Satisfied With That. girl i got the idolized reputation and then joined the followers For A Reason..... im too lazy to check but does she have something else to say if you have a very high reputation in freeside? oh well WOTEVER. the followers of the apocalypse. theyre part of this.

- the outer vegas, especially westside. it really is great that theyve got their own co-op farms and a militia protecting them, and now imagine what itd be like if they werent being pushed away into a small run-down area with shit falling apart and very little land to cultivate. hey guys all this farmland south from freeside that the ncr had been hogging? When We Join Forces, It Is Ours, Meaning Its Yours. the water infrastructure, the crops, the storage. now were gonna need more engineers to keep up with maintenance but heres the thing: the ncr had been snatching up all locals with any kinda engineering know-how to help with Their infrastructure, but now theyre not here anymore. theres Plenty of repair people, handyfighters (gender neutral form of handyman), engineers and so on, scattered all over mojave, some of them doing fuckall, and much more people that could be taught such things and contribute. we can get shit running smoothly and im not just talking about the irrigation systems and so on. with the helios one fully operational and sending power to freeside and outer vegas, with greatly improved freedom of movement... girls we can get it all running. also! the sewer network? can we talk about the robust sewer network and the people just straight up people living in there underground. baby, we can make that a good place to live. rent free of course. and it could be used for transportation, too! guys... we are tapping into this potential. and we are gonna vastly reduce stink and smell levels, to help prevent the spread of disease. actually yeah theres a lot that could be done just by improving the hygiene around here, now that the ncr isnt hoarding all the water. less stink and smell, less disease, better access to medical care... oh baby!

- jacobstown! i was actually Elated to see the ending slide saying dr henry found the cure for the nightkin. the ncr were largely responsible for exacerbating distrust of the super mutants and trying to cause hostility, and without them around... i believe Peace And Friendship with the rest of new vegas is possible. of course i imagine many would prefer to stay in jacobstown, what with it being The Super Mutant Establishment And Safe Haven, but yknow. i bet many would like to go out there and live among people. like that guard in westside. imagine the possibilities. education and opportunities would be provided, distrust mended. hell, black mountain could also be a peaceful super mutant establishment, with treatment provided to the nightkin living there, and neil taking on a marcus type role there. the area would need a Lot of work, but hey, with super mutants no longer being pushed to the absolute furthest margins of society, i believe a lot can be achieved.

- yes man and the securitrons obviously. Now. i really dont care for making them the sort of aggressive militaristic police force that mr house wanted them to be. i believe, of course, in using them as a sheer Force against the legion and the ncr, to drive them away and keep them away, and to protect the continued independence of the region. i also think that early on they might be necessary in kind of temporarily filling in the gaps left behind by the ncr, to prevent chaos and aid in a smoother reorganization wherever theres not enough people to run things. there are many good ways for securitrons to contribute, and indeed this is true of all sorts of robots that used to languish in old factory buildings or protect mr houses property. robots can be understood better and given the opportunity to become citizens--dude theres lots of robots with feelings and free will and so on, and while i recognize its just a kinda scifi trope thats rarely given that much nuance, well! We Can Do Better. allow robots to hang out. allow robots to advocate for themselves. allow robots to have their internal lives acknowledged. allow robots to seek happiness and entertainment. allow robots to be chilliiiiinnng 👍

It was in the month of December and had a free week. So what better then going and visit the snow? And what do you do in the snow? Snowboarding. Gustav was already in the driver seat just waiting so you got there scary fast… you guys get out and Gustav gets into dad mode and starts to unload stuff making everyone help making sure everyone has even and no one is missing anything and with that you all walled to the ski lift. “Ok who’s going with who” gerog asks but it so happens that Tom was already in line flirting with a girl. “We’ll…” “I wanna go with [reader]” bill chimes in with a smile “ok I’ll go with Gustav” after a while it was your turn to get up on the lift. After hours of falling on your ass and Gustav munching on snow it was getting dark and time to head back. You where all exhausted getting to your hotel room. You fell right into those white fluffy sheets and cuddling the lonly pillows thinking about going out with bill the next day.

The knocking on your door and the beeping of the hotel room door opening broke the silence. You had given bill your extra key just incase you lose yours. You where still in your bed the fluffy sheets basically eating you as you layed there. Bill walked over to your bed standing right in front of you. He lighty shook you In a temp to wake you up. “Get uppp”“Mmmph” came out if you in response “hey I said I was going to take you out on a date today so wake up” he poked you “I’m up I’m up” you rose up to your side leaning on you elbow looking at bill. He was half ready looking at your tangled hair and sleepy face. “Ok we’ll you have 20 minutes to get ready so I would start getting ready now” suddenly you weren’t so sleepy and bill was rushed out of your room.

basically, i took rei and put him in the most horrible situations ever °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

the idea is basically a very dark 'what-if' of if rei had survived

im a whore for plots that have a character survive, but everyone still thinks theyre dead, so thats the route here. rei does survive, but at a great cost, and to the knowledge of no one.

and by great cost i mean, he would have been better off if he had just died. which is why the au had previously been named 'better off dead.' i have since changed the name bc i hated it.

the new au name is pontibus incensis (burned bridges in latin). this is both bc rei's bridges were forcibly burned by volcan and byron (both figuratively and literally in relation to the fire claws) and bc i think being able to say its my pi/π au is really funny.

the whole thought process behind the au stems from the thought that the government wouldnt use their money on ember. they would use something else as a source for its funds. so i basically combined that with wanting rei to be alive and go thru angst.

the story is give or take as goes:

the au starts as soon as rei "dies." ember finds a way to fake his body, etc. rei wakes up in a cell chained to the wall, he doesnt know where he is. eventually he pulled out to some kind of "arena" people are calling "the colosseum"

(i am aware colosseum is the term for the specific famous building, and coliseum is the proper term for any large stadium. the place rei's in being called colosseum as opposed to coliseum is important to later on in the story)

theres a little girl about 8-10 there too. hes given a brief set of rules basically saying he needs to fight to the death within a certain time period. obviously rei is not going to kill a little girl and shes scared shitless so neither of them do anything. theres a warning bell signaling the time is up and the little girl, who has long light pink hair and a blue ribbon in it, is shot and killed. rei attacks the person shooting out of rage and survival and accidentally kills them. rei's allowed to pass bc hes found interesting by the colosseum head(?) and its the first and last time any match in the colosseum ends in a draw. as reis leaving he turns around and sees the girls lifeless body and for a brief moment she looks like remi.

so reis dilemma there is that he just killed someone and the little girl who looks like remi dying. his thoughts spiral from here but theyre cut off. hes later brought out again and fights a guy who comes at him instantly. reis forced to kill him. when rei gets back to his cell he finds the barcode branded on the back of his neck reading 1010 (XX in roman numerals, allude to the X in X-Static). he has the horrifying realization this place has already had at least 1000 prisoners.

this pattern of killing to survive continues. due to the constant stress, reis ability steadily climbs as well as his survival instincts. he develops a literal skill to survive. meanwhile, his mental health and morals are rapidly dropping and becoming tangled and confusing--even incomprehensible. eventually he'll develop the delusion that the little girl actually was remi, and that hes the one who killed her. as its a delusion, the knowledge of remi being 4 yrs younger than him and what she looks like now doesnt matter.

im thinking of giving him psychotic depression in order to explain the delusion, but im unsure. i will need to do more research. i could possibly also give him more delusions, such as hallucinations of his body rotting and the delusion he deserves it, or maybe the hallucination of remis decaying corpse, etc. another symptom of psychotic depression is psychomotor impairment which causes issues with speech and muscle activity, which i may be able to use as well?

(all of that is very surface level research btw, if i got anything wrong or am using the disorder in an inappropriate or disrespectful way please tell me. im very open to criticism and correction)

anyway, rei figures out that hes being used as entertainment for higher ups in the authorities to have monetary gain for ember funding. hes also become the fav of the place bc he just wont die, hes seen as some kind of impossible to kill entity. he gives ember massive monetary gain. he manages to survive for a long time (i think i want the colosseum arc to be maybe 4 months long?) which is unheard of. at most people have only survived for a month.

at the end of the colosseum arc, rei obviously escapes. hes very briefly helped by an oc of mine, who ends up being important later on.

i wont go into detail abt the rest of it unless u want bc this arc is the main point of the au.

something i should mention though that rei only finds out in the next arc is that ember doesnt ever actually kill the vigilantes. theyre always taken to a coliseum. and they end up dying in there. reis the only one whos survived so far.

i havent posted like anything of the penrose development i have done, visual wise, as its all been on my discord (join here and get the "projects chats" role to see it). so! i am gonna talk. long post ahead.

above is some March actually, way back when i was trying to think of other characters and shapes. The three on the right were random mainly, except Hayden will be an actual character. not decided design however. i also tried "mouth/nose line" on mick and eden, which gave them more cat appearance. i did not keep that. very far right wolf looking guy is actually Mars... if anyone remembers that red wolf.

Noir Morozov, who i drew in that image with the numbers 76. i will commonly call him 76. he is the admin (76days76nights) of twistedroots.net. in his late 20s. clearly based on a goat.

Above is some design tests of "no ears" versions of characters. i have loads of thoughts about this-- basically these guys (mick and eden namely) have been ambiguous humanoids, but technically based on cats. still, the only feature were the nose and ears. however i have wanted my big projects to not be furry associated and the ears are enough to see them as that. considering how simple they already were, i wondered if i could take away the need for ears at all.

in doing so i realized how plain eden looks and came to certain conclusions about these: mick is already very normal, skin colored, and has two main colors. eden's hair being smooth makes it look pretty flat without the sharp ears, and she only has one color is she doesnt have the white spot. 76 is clearly the most animal like, and taking away his features leaves him look a bit weird. hair texture for eden was worked on (right image) and may change on mick, not sure.

i wanted to get rid of eden's white spot because it was a marking like on fur, but because she is just black and nothing else i wanted to work in a second color-- which came to me adding it to her hair! which i quite like.

as much as i loved that finished art i did of 76 recently, i do expect to change his design as well.

most recent developments of design-- first one is just normal present day mick with no ears. i am still unsure how to present her however as im unsure about her hair and nose/face shape. right image is eden at age 14-16. just a little sketch of her at a younger age (and i need to practice/design the difference between her age appearance tbh)

lastly! just a timeline of faces that i made when trying to think about new designs/what to do. theyre not in complete chronological order, but its close enough. its given me more thoughts on how i wanna tackle designs. mainly that i really want to do *something* about mick and eden's face shapes. i lost some sharpness of mick's and i think its part of whats throwing me, as she is all round shapes. i am generally happy with eden, but with both of those girls i need to sit down and try to see how i can work their ages into their designs just a *little* so.

thats kinda where this project is right now. designs have still been tough for me, especially because i havent fleshed out the story enough to include more significant characters either.

jenna: morro- idk i just rlly love the idea of morro being the queen of gossip @ their school

jake: lloyd- bros the green ninja ofc he’s the most popular guy @ school in this au, but also not jock popular guy like jake, more like the popular guy who’s popular bc he’s attractive but ALSO he’s just the sweetest guy. ever. and rlly oblivious to the point where u want to hate him bc of the way the ppl who are nice to him/like him are but you can’t bc he’s so sweet

chloe: pixal- listen okay she’s just a gossip girl ik im pushing it w chloe and christine here but let me LIVE okay let me have my nya pixal + morro gossip trio

brooke: zane- zane is the innocent guy that is besties w the gossip trio bc he follows pixal like a puppy and she would protect him w her life

any ways uh if i did this im kinda thinking like. nadakhans all “i wanna marry nya” and jays like “dude wtf u can’t just. marry nya ill fite u /p coles my real bbg ofc” and nadakhan says “shit u rite. too much work. plus i got me a captive rite here like it don’t matter who i marry cuz once i got my powers i can bring back that shitty girlypop of mine n e ways. damn bluey ur so smart” and jays like “wha.” so our guy writes a fun explanation of the whole marriage thing to the rest of the squad and he’s like “YOO so im bouta get married but that would not be great for me or anyone else in the whole world so maybe we should do something abt that like just so y’all know” and coles like “bitch not my MANS” and we’ll see where it goes from there bc the timeline would be V different and things would have to get done faster meaning they’d get done differently and id have to actually rewatch the season to figure out the kinks but as i continue to write this the urge to make this a reality grows every more tempting i am foaming at the mouth rn
