I keep hearing people talk about a new group of young singers who aren't afraid to discuss and promote female empowerment. At its core are four key artists: Billie Eilish, Tate McRae, Nessa Barrett and Jessie Murph. When I heard Jessie Murph was coming to The Pike Room in Pontiac, I knew that was a show I wanted to see. There is often a hype behind emerging artists, which isn't always deserved, so I was excited to see which was true here. I'm happy to say, in my opinion Jessie deserves all the praises I've been hearing about her, and more. Having seen Billie Eilish before she became the superstar she is today, I said "Bilie could very well be the future voice of today's youth". Billie had a connection with her fans I could feel at that show and her lyrics just resonated with them in a truly personal way. Seeing Jessie perform live gave me that same vibe. Chapter 1 wheres sally

This is a story of my flatmate, Peculiar Sally. 

I moved in last year in November 2019 to this two bedroom flat amidst the hustle and bustle of GB, sitting on the 5th floor right beside the main road. 

It can be quite a noisy place to stay but what is noisier are my thoughts about Sally. Having not much experiences staying with strangers; my first was at the old flat sharing with 5 other Asian nationalities, I would say its the whole ASEAN united. (2 Malaysians, 1 Filipino, 1 Chinese & 1 Vietnamese)

Anyway, back to my subject and star of my story, Sally is a 40ish year old Korean lady. I wouldn’t know how old she really is because she is quite the traditional Asian woman who would be sensitive in areas like this. 

Sally has stayed in Hong Kong for 7 years before moving to Singapore, and hasn’t been living in Korea for a long time. I think she told me she has 1 sister which is back home and she speaks to her mother every Saturday. 

Was it last month that Korea broke the internet with insane numbers for the virus? I was woken up one Saturday morning with Sally speaking to someone in total dismay only to find out about her close relationship to her mum then. 

Sally works in shipping or logistics, and she goes to work 9-6pm. She said she’s really grateful for the lifestyle in Singapore because they don’t have to do OTs. She would leave the house normally when I’ve just woke up and comes home before 12 each weeknight. On weekends, she would be out morning till night and I wouldn’t see her the whole day (which was GREAT).

Her peculiar activity has managed to wiggle into my casual conversations with my peers, because I cannot for the life of me register where would a 40year old aunty lady go during most of her time. 

Although, she did mention that she goes to church, but when thrown the question, ‘Where were you’ (of course not in such a direct manner lol im no psycho) she would shrug off the question unapologetically.
