TPOH UPDATE THEORY
Tumblr media
TPOH UPDATED AND YOU BETTER BELIEVE I HAVE THEORIES!!
So! Negative talking with the Butterfly definitely did something to him. Maybe he recognised their voice? Or he looked at him directly in their eyes? Some people have proposed the idea that Anxiety blinded Negative, and if that's the case, then I wonder how long the effect will last.
The Butterfly gave him a flashback to his human life, and I'm guessing its one that includes the Butterfly.
Its hard to make out, but we see a human hand extending out, and text that says "WAIT! Don't lea-" (I'm guessing 'don't leave') and "What do you say? We got a deal?"
What's even more interesting, is that RGB didn't get this flashback when he came into contact with the Butterfly. Only Negative did.
This tells us two major things:
The Butterfly used to be a human and they knew Human RGB
2. Negative has access to memories of their life that RGB doesn't
Starting with the first one, I think I'm beginning to figure out just what happened between Butterfly and RGB.
Tumblr media
It all starts with this infamous page. The Butterfly gave RGB a schism, which caused him to get a flashback. In this flashback, he is in a backstage acting room (judging that there's one of those fancy mirrors with the lights on them in the background) and he looks very tired and angry. He then tells whoever he is talking to that he hates them.
I assume that this is RGB talking to whoever the Butterfly used to be.
In the lastest update, the flashback gives off similar vibes. RGB and The Butterfly make a deal, but there is also text ("Don't leave") that implies one of them is backing out of the deal. I'm not exactly sure who is who in this situation though.
Either way, RGB did something that really pissed off the Butterfly enough for them to still be mad at them in The Land of Make Believe.
My assumption is this:
As we know, RGB was an actor. So I'm guessing The Butterfly was either an actor, director, or any professional job that would give them the opportunity to meet RGB.
Just like the Butterfly is trying to partner with Negative in this scene, Human Butterfly had a partnership with Human RGB long ago. I'm not sure what it was, but I'm guessing it was related to acting. (It also could've been romantic. Or both. RGB already has like three partners, I wouldn't put it past him.) But the Butterfly messed something up so badly that is caused RGB to get mad and call off the partnership, which is the scene we see on the "I hate you" page. The Butterfly begged RGB to stay ("Wait! Don't leave.") but he didn't.
This may have led to consequences that ruined the Butterfly's career. Either way, they were so hurt by this that they still resent RGB to this day. I have no clue how The Butterfly made it to The Land of Make Believe, since I don't think they were a hero, but it was probably something to do with how RGB treated them.
Tumblr media
So when The Butterfly asked Negative for a partnership again, not knowing who Negative was, he got a flashback.
The colours that come out of Negative's vents are Red and Yellow, Anger and Anxiety. Both emotions fit perfectly with this situation.
(Or I could be totally wrong. Since I don't know who's who, it could be the BUTTERFLY saying 'I hate you' and RGB saying 'Don't leave.' But I think the first version fits better with the overarching theory I have. So I'll assume RGB is saying 'I hate you' unless proven otherwise.)
Please let me know if anyone has anything to add to this theory! I think I'm really getting close to figuring this stuff out but there's still some stuff I'm confused on.
Onto the second thing!
I've already talked about this a lot in this theory, but I'd like the expand on it a bit. That theory is slightly outdated since now we know The Butterfly doesn't know who Negative is, but I think I was on the right track.
When RGB and Negative split, Negative took some of RGB's memories with him. (That, or whatever memories RGB sold to Time were given to Negative. I haven't decided yet but either way Negative has some of RGB's lost memories.)
Since RGB and Negative used to be a whole person as a human, parts of their personality in the flashbacks are influenced by both RGB and Negative.
More than that, we have visual identifiers as to which personality is being portrayed in these flashbacks!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Human RGB's eyes are covered and we see his mouth, it's RGB's memory. Since his TV self has a mouth and no eyes. This means RGB is the one having the flashback and the memory has him displaying more 'RGB-esque' personality traits. Like, in this scene, sleeping on the job and being woken up by a colleague is definitely something I imagine RGB doing, but no so much Negative.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Human RGB's mouth is covered and we see his eyes, it's Negative's memory. Since his TV self has an eye and no mouth. In this scene, he is displaying more 'Negative-esque' personality traits. He is being confrontational and cold, and straight up telling someone he hates them. That doesn't sound like something our resident coward RGB would do.
Tumblr media
And to add to this, blue roses show up as this flashback happens. This memory belongs to Negative, but RGB is viewing it because of his schism. And as I've said before, his schisms/gaps are definitely related to Negative.
So when they split, their human memories and personality traits were split up between them.
I really hope I am right, because I LOVE this facial feature detail! The fact we never see his full face at once gives the impression of him not being 'complete' bc he's not! He's literally being split into two people, so his face was split accordingly. Genuinely a genius visual metaphor on Mod's part. And it really makes me wonder if we will see his full face if RGB and Negative ever fuse back together again.
It's something to keep in mind for the next flashback!
Tumblr media
As for the lastest memory, I'm not sure if it's Negative or RGB's, since we don't see their face. It's a possibility it is either a shared memory or RGB's memory that Negative is viewing, which would explain why it messes up Negative so much. And why we see some of RGB's colour return to him.
Tumblr media
And what on earth is happening to Negative here? At first I thought he was going to faint and allow RGB to return, but now I'm not sure. Yes he is disoriented, but I think he'll be sticking around for just a bit longer. The blue roses haven't popped yet, and they tend to do that when he leaves. And I'm hoping he'll get a little more screentime since they still need to escape the house and everything, but I won't jinx it.
And what's with the yellow root in his leg? Those roses are mysterious as fuck, and I wanna find out what they'll do to him. I am still trying to figure out wether Negative completely controls them, or if they kinda have a mind of their own. They could make him stronger or make him weaker. They could charge that static electricity again. They could do something to his gaps. Who knows! But I'll be back next Sunday to figure it out.

Featuring my smudged little drawings. Enjoy!
Also, I know the drawing won't be for everybody, I just wanted to do something creative.
Tumblr media
Pile 1
This person is very knowledgeable, could possibly be more on the spiritual side. They value family alot and will be protective if you should ever create your own family together. They are independent in their decision making, especially when it comes to work matters. Their competitive nature shines through when they have an opportunity to further themselves. I’m also haering they’ll do anything to protect those that they love. They’re a great problem solver, not in an “authoritative” kind of way but instead more in a nurturing and soft manner. This person obviously has duality when it comes to their personal life and professional life; At work they are very serious and cutthroat then at home a more calm and sweet personality. They could have a certain level of discontentment with the work that they do but they still work very hard as a sacrifice for the family that you two (could) have together. They are very selfless and family oriented. Your future spouse is very good, they know how to have a successful partnership, aware that sacrifice is required from both parties sometimes to reach complete satisfaction. The word “safe” keeps resurfacing in my mind, this person is the definition of a protector. They quite like taking on this role, they are going to want to be the one in the relationship that takes the lead. They don’t like sharing “power” so if you’re the kind of person that is more dominant there might be a power struggle between you two.
(Possible) Physical Appearance

Red Aura
-A big smile
-Dyed hair
-Glowy skin
-Skinny
-Muscular
-Tall
-Full lips

Pile 2
This is an intelligent person, more logic minded. They could seem very guarded to you when you two first meet, could be an air sign. They aren’t easy to open up and are very stuck in their ways; a stubborn nature. Your future spouse could be a bad communicator because of overthinking(?). They have a different thought process than most which could be because of some kind of condition or mental illness. Even though they are quiet and guarded, they have a good heart. They are generous, maybe even give away second chances easily. Could be a “Everyone deserves a second chance” kind of nature. They’re very proud of their achievements and the knowledge that they’ve gained through their pursuit of higher education and through their work. They’re passionate about learning and investing in themselves. Since they are more of the observing type they tend to see past whatever facade people put up. This person typically has good judgment when it comes to other people, or even could have a talent in reading people They don’t like dictator personalities, people who don’t have good intentions when it comes to other; so they tend to have an inclination to fight for good, to challenge those in authority positions and hold them accountable. They could be an activist of some sort, or work at some kind of non-profit organization.
(Possible) Physical Appearance

Green Aura
-Defined cupid's bow
-Tall
-Tattoos
-Intimidating
-Nose piercing
-Has a beard
-Baby face

Pile 3
This person is confident and sure of themselves, I'm getting fire energy from them(fire sign). When they go through bad situations they go through them, it’s very bad and they feel very down. Putting pressure on them would definitely make them spiral into a depressive episode, completely the opposite of their usually confident demeanor. They’re successful in financial matters, content in the success they have thus far. They could be impulsive, maybe even short-tempered. The thing I described before could suggest that their emotions switch at the blink of an eye. They could be vengeful, meaning they don’t ever forfeit someone that does wrong by them. They assess and make a plan to get back at people because they believe in equality(obviously something they could work on). They have the capability to change these “negative” aspects of themselves, and they probably will by the time you two come into union. This person may live at a distance from you, or they just like to travel and could want to take trips with you often.
(Possible) Physical Appearance
Tumblr media
(Pls ignore my failed attempt at drawing forehead wrinkles lol)
Purple/Violet Aura
-Short
-Dimples
-Forehead wrinkles
-Mature figure
-Thin lips
-Dark cirlces
-Defined cupid's bow
Tumblr media
Pile 4
This person likes the outdoors, they find their peace of mind there. They could find it difficult to understand people that think outside of the box or just someone that has different ideals than them. The cause of this is their confidence in how they think, so it’s not easy to change that. They will defend their beliefs because they see it as what’s “right”. They really love what they do for a living, it gives them complete fulfillment so they put their all into it to reap the best benefits. Seriously, they really do get into lots of arguments/conflict because they believe their way is the only way. They’re a workaholic, so they do not like taking breaks from work. Your future spouse clearly lacks balance in their life as a result. They may have grown up with little to nothing, so it is their top priority to secure stability.
(Possible) Physical Appearance
Tumblr media
Green Aura
-Stand out birth mark/beauty mark
-Clef chin
-Thick neck
-Freckles
-Wears glasses
-Hairy arms
-Chubby

And they were ROOMmates
Cht list: (1) (2) (3) (4)
a/n: Soul Eater. Soul X Maka. Maka's hurt, Soul's anxious, and "dignity" gets in the way.
I bet people can be weird about co-ed partnerships between a meister and a weapon, so I wrote something that tackled it. But lol I lost the rest of the outline, so here's just a part. I can continue if anyone is interested.
c/w: hurt/comfort, depictions of blood and injuries.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Just get the room open,” Soul hissed at Ox, “we don’t have time for this.”
“Maka needs her own room. It’s against protocol, and—”
“Protocol? I literally live with her! Just open the door. You’re making a scene,” He fumed, shifting Maka’s weight in his arms. She was cradled against his chest, bloodied, battered, and more than a little dazed.
When Ox continued to stand in front of the hotel door, neglecting to open it, Soul turned his glare on Harvar.
“Talk to your Meister before I punch his face in,” He demanded. Harvar glared back, his stupid glasses long gone, buried somewhere in the aftermath of their battle.
He shifted Maka’s weight again, and she groaned, causing his heart to palpitate. For fuck sake, he didn’t want to pull rank on these assholes, but he wasn’t above it!
“It’s not like she can bandage herself!” He pleaded, shooting her a worried look. Blood caked one side of her head, and while he knew head wounds purposefully bled more, it was making him lightheaded. Coupled with the beating the rest of her face had taken, he was close to a nervous breakdown. And that was without considering the odd angle her right ankle was hanging.
“We should be taking her to a hospital!” Ox snapped back, “This is ridiculous!”
“Wow! A hospital! How come I didn’t think of that—oh wait! Because there are no hospitals! Did you see a hospital? Cause I sure didn’t! And it’s not like we can drive to one! Because someone fried the damn battery!”
They had been lucky enough to find a hotel if it could even be called that. It was more like a motel, but shittier, located next to the mechanic that would hopefully be open tomorrow morning, so they could get their DWMA-leased car to work again. They had pulled into the parking lot literally on their last wheel, with poor Maka in the back wheezing the whole ride down.
And, wait, did the wheezing mean she had a broken rib?
He felt cold sweat slip down his neck as he paled.
Yeah, he was definitely close to hyperventilating.
Of course, none of them would have been in this shitty situation if they had just listened to him in the first place. He hadn’t wanted to take this joint mission with Ox and Harvar, not because of the company (though it was quickly becoming “because of the company”), but because after everything they had been through, a D-rank mission had a certain “below them” quality to it. But, unfortunately, Ox and Maka couldn’t let go of their pissing competition for more than five minutes to figure that out for themselves or listen to reason, and fucking Harvar was as unhelpful as ever in that regard.
In the end, though, they had all been wrong. Neither Ox’s nor Maka’s “superior intellect” had broken any supposed DWMA D-rank records, and Soul had extremely misjudged the difficulty of the assigned task. If Soul hadn’t already had his suspicions that Kid reshuffled the assignments so each rank would have an equal and even number of missions to complete, which was, evidently, how a D-rank mission could become a B-rank without warning, he’d also think this meant the new Death Lord had extremely misjudged the difficulty of the assigned task. But really, this just confirmed his (and Liz’s) suspicions that Kid was skipping out on his anxiety medication. Again.
“Ox,” Harvar eventually sighed, pushing his not-there glasses up his nose, “he’s right, she’s not well, and we don’t have enough money to afford the mechanic and another room. I believe the front desk attendant knows we’re—” He paused, “—unfortunately desperate and skewed the prices.”
“What’s the big deal anyway?” Soul huffed.
“She’s a girl,” Ox whined like he was still twelve, and they were all still stuck in the single-sex dorms at DWMA. He had bitched about it when Maka would sneak in before they moved off-campus together. “It’s inappropriate.”
“And we wonder why you haven’t gotten laid yet.” He deadpanned, clutching Maka closer to him, who had begun to shiver.
Ox’s cheeks flooded with color, “H-hey, I—” He straightened, “—I won’t stand for that! I have to!”
Of course, he hadn’t. They wouldn’t have heard the end of it if he had. And by “they,” Soul meant the “boys-only” group chat Ox had explicitly created so he could bitch about Kim without Kim finding out. He was probably the only one who actually used it.
Soul felt his shoulders slump as exhaustion rolled through him, but he kept a tight grip on Maka.
It had been a long two days of driving, roughing it in the woods, fighting for their lives, and now, this, with Maka hurt and him feeling useless, crummy, and anxious beyond belief. He hated—absolutely loathed—Maka getting hurt. It physically made him nauseous. DWMA nurses told him he was a casebook study of Couvade Syndrome, which was better known as sympathetic pregnancy to ordinary people, and commonly found in meister-weapon relationships on account of the soul-bond, of which his and Maka’s was very strong for obvious, black-blood related reasons.
“Just open the door, please,” He begged, letting his eyes fall shut.
Maybe they could hear the desperation in his voice because, after a short pause, the door clicked open. He didn’t wait for grand gestures as he breezed past them, gingerly putting Maka down on the closest of the two full-sized beds. If she were more coherent, she would have been beyond pissed. She never laid down on a strange bed without first checking for bed bugs, but Soul was well past the patience needed for that.
He began unlacing her combat boots as Ox and Harvar sat their things down on the other bed. They had a ridiculous amount of luggage, most of which held Ox’s copious amount of hair products. On the other hand, Maka and Soul’s stuff was all contained in one duffle bag currently strapped to his back. They preferred traveling light with nothing valuable just in case they were whisked away to, hell, the moon? It had happened before, and the moment they thought it wouldn’t happen again, it was sure to happen again. His favorite headband was still up there, sad, lost, and alone.
Or, well, alone wasn’t the right word, but whatever.
Regardless, Ox and Harvar didn’t seem to care about Murphy’s Law. It was frustrating and so different from how he and Maka operated as a team. The two other boys were so smart, but they didn’t share even a single brain cell when it came to common sense. How they had made it this far in the DWMA program was beyond Soul, but he had other things to worry about—Maka-related things.
“That fucker got a good swipe at her back. I’m going to have to clean the cut. Maybe do stitches?” He shook his head, “I dunno. I need to get her cleaned off. It shouldn’t take long.”
He scoped her back into his arms and, for a split second, marveled at how light she was for someone who could pack such a punch.
“You’re going to the bathroom?” Ox asked, mouth falling open.
Soul scowled, “I’m sorry did you want to go first?”
Ox had enough grace to look offended, “Of course not! I—it’s just, well, you’re going in there with her?”
He looked down at Maka, cradled snuggly in his arms, half-mumbling, half-moaning, “Uh, duh? She’s half-conscious?”
“Should we—” Ox shared a look with Harvar, “—uh, come supervise?”
Soul blinked, “I’m sorry?”
“Well, you know, for dignity’s sake.”
He stared at Ox and Harvar for a full minute, trying to figure out what they meant when it hit him square in the face, and whatever ill-boding feeling he had developed for them over the last two days did a seemingly impossible speedrun into hatred.
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?” He asked, knowing full well what the fuck that was supposed to mean. His blood boiled as his grip on Maka tightened, turning her slightly away to obscure their view of her.
In a pacifying motion, Ox threw up his hands, “It’s not that we don’t trust you, Soul. It’s just that she’s half-unconscious like you said,” he emphasized, “and we don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea. I’m just trying to take Maka’s best interest into account.”
He was beyond offended, literally dumbfounded.
“Right,” He sneered, turning towards the shitty motel bathroom, “makes total sense, three guys watching her bathe as opposed to one, got it. That’s so much better.” He bared his teeth, pushing the door open with his shoulder, “Do me a favor, Ox, and go fuck yourself, okay? Maka’s my meister. There’s nothing about her I haven’t seen before.”
And with that, he let the door slam close behind him.
He stood there momentarily, huffing and puffing until she gurgled a half-attempted word. It was the total gibberish of a half-conscious person, but it stopped the red and black haze threatening to take over his mind. Then, gently, he set her down on the dirty tile floor and examined the sorry state of the bathtub. He crinkled his nose in distaste.
Looking around, he noticed the whole bathroom was just as grimy. Colonies of Silverfish bugs crawled in and out of all three drains, one for the sink, one for the bathtub, and a mysterious third one in the center of the room.
He mumbled obscenities to himself as he set up a measly washing station and decided not to put Maka in the tub. Instead, he sat her on the lip, balancing her as best he could with his limited resources.
His actions were mechanical as he undressed her, leaving her underwear on for now but removing her sports bra. Then, carefully, he examined her, noting the various wounds and taking special care of the angrier-looking cuts and scratches. He had been right, her head bleed wasn’t as serious as it looked, but the scratches on her back were deep. Luckily, he didn’t think they would need stitches, which was good as the bathroom clearly wasn’t sterile, but she wouldn’t like it when he disinfected them.
His anger faded as he fell into his work, thinking nothing of her nakedness. After years of fixing Maka up after fights, he was used to her naked body in the most platonic way possible, like she was with his. It was a part of the partnership that every weapon and meister formed, same-sex and co-ed. Because who else was going to stitch you up when there were no doctors around?
Obviously, Ox and Harvar didn’t understand co-ed partnerships were exactly the same as same-sex ones because those two were a same-sex partnership, and worse, they were both totally guys about it. Chicks seemed to get it more than the guys ever did. Guys all had this same preconceived notion about co-ed partners that non-meisters and non-weapons had, which always boiled down to the same stupid question without fail: “Are you two hooking up?”
Soul didn’t understand why same-sex partners weren’t drilled about the same thing. He had seen Kim and Jackie in way more provocative situations than he and Maka had ever been, seemingly on purpose, but no, nope! Soul was the degenerate for helping his meister!
It was fucking ridiculous.
Rolling his eyes, he brushed hair from Maka’s face and returned to the task at hand. There was a nasty lump on her forehead that would have given even Black*Star a concussion, a big ugly bruise wrapping around the left side of her chest and waist, and a twisted ankle so swollen she couldn’t possibly get her boot back on around it.
“Oh, Maka,” He let out a heavy sigh, leaning over to turn on the bath faucet, “you gotta stop doing this to yourself.”
The faucet sputtered to life. The water that came out was hardly lukewarm but, thankfully, clean-looking. Grabbing a spare washcloth from their pack, Soul cleaned the muck and grime off her, wincing in sympathy when she did, even at the lightest of touches.
“I know,” He comforted, “I’m sorry. I’m almost done.”
“Soul?” Her eyes blinked open blearily.
“I’m here.”
She sighed, “My head hurts.”
“I know. We’ll get to that in a second, okay? Gotta get the blood off.”
“I’m tired.”
“Just a little longer.”
She groaned and then whined, “I’ve gotta pee.”
He snorted, cracking a smile for the first time that night, “Okay, hold on. Do you think you can manage wiping your own ass?”
She scoffed as much as she could, “Yes.”
“Then clean yourself first—” He gestured to her bottom half, “—while I get your clothes ready. Then, bathroom, I promise. Just keep holding on to me.”
“I won’t let go.”
Her words rang clear and sober, and his heart skipped a miserable beat.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The whole bathing charade couldn’t have lasted more than fifteen to twenty minutes before Soul was helping Maka hobble out the door. Despite the colder weather outside, she was in a fresh set of pajamas consisting of an oversized shirt and a pair of shorts.
“It’s yours,” he said gruffly to Ox and Harvar. “Don’t worry. Dignity still intact.”
“What?” Maka stared at him.
“Don’t worry about it,” He shook his head, glaring at Ox as he entered the bathroom.
“Are you feeling better, Maka?” Ox pushed his glasses up his nose.
“Hardly.” She sighed, “But don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Of course,” He nodded, closing the door.
“And how about you? Are you okay, Harvar?” She asked, staring at the other weapon setting up a makeshift bed with the room’s two armchairs.
“Yes.”
This was a standard, flippant Harvar response, but Maka’s eyebrows still furrowed together in confusion.
“What’s their problem?” She whispered, but he shook his head.
“Come on, time for bed. Lay down.”
She looked at the bed with disgust, “Did you check it for—”
“Maka, bed.” He gently pushed her down, “Here—” He pulled out his spare sleep shirt and wrapped her pillow in it “—just lay on top. You don’t have to get under the blankets.”
“That makes it not better.”
“We really don’t have a choice.” He rooted around their duffle bag for his hoodie and passed it over to her, worried she’d get too cold in the middle of the night without a cover of some sort.
“It’s yours,” she protested. “I already have your—”
“Just take it,” he said, exasperated. Couldn’t people just do what he wanted without arguing?
“Should we flip a coin for it?” Harvar spoke up suddenly, and he and Maka turned to look at the boy.
“What now?” Soul asked, reaching the end of his patience.
Harvar gestured to the makeshift bed, “Maka, of course, will have a bed, and Ox too since they did the physical stuff. It’s only fair, after all. But me and you, one of us gets the floor, and the other gets the chairs.”
“Oh no,” Maka shook her head, “you don’t have to do that. The beds are big enough, Harvar. Me and Ox can share them with you guys.”
A hard look passed over Harvar’s face, “That’s hardly appropriate.”
“What do you—”
“Holy shit,” Soul seethed, interrupting Maka’s question, “fuck off with the appropriate bullshit. I’ll share the bed with Maka; you can be weird and have armchairs. I don’t care! Literally, no one cares! I’m not going to—” He sputtered, looking for the right word, “—to defile her, so quit the hero act! Now! Good! Night!”
Still covered in his own healthy layer of muck and grime, he flopped onto his and Maka’s bed with his back turned toward Harvar. And then, after a second, pulled Maka down with him to make a show of how normal and totally not weird it was, ignoring the way she hissed, “Be careful, idiot!”
Soul glared at the wall closest to Maka, shielding her from the view of the other bed. Then, fidgeted, sat up, and pulled the shirt he was wearing off by the collar before plopping down again.
“What’s going on?” Maka whispered, touching his cheek to get his attention, “Did you three fight? I…I can’t remember much.”
His anger dissipated slightly at the worry wrinkling her forehead. He grabbed the hand on his face and felt some relief flood into his shoulders. It was good that Maka was well enough to be doing Maka-things, like worrying about other peoples’ feelings while she was falling apart. It made him worry less, though her memory issues were still concerning.
“Sort of,” He whispered back, “but it doesn’t matter. Just go to bed. We can talk about it later. Alone.”
She nodded, letting her hand drop from his face as her eyelids started to droop. “Hum me to sleep?” She asked.
“Maka,” He groaned again, hyperaware they weren’t alone.
“Please?” She peeked open one eye, “I’m so skeeved out by this bed right now. I’ll never sleep at this rate.”
“That’s a lie. You’re falling asleep as we speak.”
The edges of her mouth quirked up. “Please,” she asked again, anyway.
Now, here, if he were Ox or Harvar, is where he would have started to worry about the state of his and Maka’s dignity. It wasn’t the nakedness, or the shared bed, or their general touchy-feely bullshit, though Soul was smart enough to understand what those may have looked like to an outsider.
But the music?
Someday, it was going to give him away. Someday, someone who wasn’t so tone-death was going to look at him and call him out on all his bullshit.
Still, because she had asked, he hummed, falling asleep with her tangled up in his arms.
Platonically, of course.
--------------------------------------------------------------
A throat was cleared, once, twice, then, “Soul.”
“Eh,” He groaned, nuzzling further into his pillow. His body ached with fatigue and he couldn’t find it in himself to care about whatever the ominous voice wanted him to care about, “’ive more m’nutes.”
“The mechanic’s open. Wake up.” A blanket was ripped off of him, and he shrunk into a ball, screwing his eyes shut as he patted around the bed for the lost source of comfort.
“H—ey,” He whined, “no.”
“Soul!” Maka shoved him off of her, “Let go of me! And wake up!”
 He landed hard on the motel’s floor, eyes flying open as his brain worked overtime to orient him in time and space.
“Hey!” He cried when he realized what had just transpired, “What’s the big idea! I was sleeping.”
“You need to be waking,” Maka hissed back, rubbing her arms.
He blinked, angry and then worried, watching her rub her arms. A collage of purple and yellow bruises littered them, which was confusing until yesterday hit him like a sack of bricks.
He sat up straighter, remembering that he wasn’t home safe and sound in the comfort of his own bed.
“How are you feeling?” He asked her, scrambling to his feet.
She huffed, rolling her eyes as he fussed around her.
“Worse has happened, Soul,” She allowed him to prop her swollen ankle up on the pillow he had been using, “just go with Harvar, okay? He’s been—” She waved towards the other weapon, who Soul finally noticed at the end of their bed, watching, “—staring.”
“You’re still a heavy sleeper,” Harvar sniffed, walking out, “The mechanics open. I’ll meet you in the hobby.”
“Uh, yeah, okay.” Soul nodded, then looked at Maka, who shrugged.
“He woke me up while he was trying to wake you up. I don’t know how you didn’t feel it,” She whispered, referring to the weight of Harvar’s notorious stare, “seriously, what is their deal?”
Soul thought momentarily about how he had held Maka while he slept, and something warm stirred in his gut.
“I think we are,” He muttered to himself, pulling on a clean shirt.
“What?” She leaned in, “I couldn’t—”
“Excuse me,” Ox said from the other bed, sitting up on his elbows to glare at them—or well, that was likely his intent because the plush, pink sleeping mask he was wearing obscured the gesture, but it rang loud and clear in his tone, “some of us are trying to sleep.”
Soul glared back before turning back to Maka, “Are you okay? I’ll see if I can rustle up some coffee.”
Her face fell and Soul ached with her.
“Pain killers?” She finally asked, “I think I only packed my migraine stuff.”
“Right, no problem.” He patted his back pockets, checking for his wallet, “Need help going to the—”
“Still trying to sleep!” Ox snapped, making a show of tossing and turning, then beating his pillows back to plump.
“Just go,” she said through gritted teeth, giving Ox a crossed look, “obviously—” She chucked one of the pillows she had behind her back at the other bed, “—sleeping beauty here can’t be disturbed even though this is all his fault.”
“Excuse me!” Ox sputtered, sitting up, arguing with his eye mask still on, “My fault!”
“You heard me, Poindexter!” She argued, “Your fault!”
“I’m not the one who charged in head first without a plan!”
“I had a plan, asshole! You didn’t want to listen to it!”
“You weren’t being reasonable!”
“You fried the car!”
Soul was out the door before things could turn violent.
----------------------------------------------------------------
“Sorry, they were fighting.” Soul offered to Harvar as an explanation for his obvious tardiness when he finally made it down to the lobby.
Harvar didn’t respond. He simply turned on his heels and made for the door to the sad, rundown parking lot.
The walk to the mechanic was silent, which wasn’t unexpected. Neither of them was the type to initiate conversation.
“Are you two close?” He remembered Maka had asked a long time ago when they first partnered up. “You’re pretty similar, you know, in some ways, mannerism-wise.”
He had found the comparison largely offensive and told her so over the sound of her laughing.
Harvar had been his roommate the first year he had been at DWMA. While Harvar had already been at the school for two years prior to Soul attending, they had been paired together based on their NOT year courses, not seniority. So while it had technically been Soul’s first year at the school, in his NOT courses, he had been a seventh year, and up until he met Maka, he figured he would be staying in the NOT courses, but no way in hell did that mean he wanted to stay Harvar’s roommate.
On paper, Harvar was a fine roommate, Soul supposed. He was quiet, kept to himself, and neat about things, but Soul instantly preferred Kilik, their suitemate and Ox’s original roommate. Harvar had always been too cold. Not cool. And boring. And intense about it. He had a pension for ratting Soul out whenever he broke a rule, which, yeah, included sneaking Maka into their boys-only dorm, among a few other, more incriminating stunts, and he cared way too much about schoolwork. Sure, Maka was also intense about it, but she liked school in a cute nerdy way. Harvar (and Ox) took it to an unlikable extreme.
So, yes, while Harvar was maybe quiet like Soul, and they had been fine together as roommates and worked together as part of the Spartoi, that was all he has was to Soul. His first-year roommate.
“You know I’ll have to inform Lord Death, correct?” Harvar spoke suddenly.
Soul stared at him, surprised he had spoken. They were now waiting for the mechanic to look over the car. Soul had been elected to attend the appointment because he knew a few things about cars. Harvar had volunteered to attend because he probably thought Soul was incompetent.
“About what?” He drawled out, “The fight? The car? The incorrect assignment rating? I’m pretty sure Maka can cover chewing Kid out for all of us.”
“Lord Death,” Harvar corrected, and Soul did his best not to roll his eyes. He’d be long dead before he addressed Kid by his fucking title. Black-Moon-Last-Death-Scythe-One-of-His-Best-Friends privilege and all that.
“And no, I mean about yours and Maka’s relationship.”
“And what about our relationship would you be reporting? The part where I didn’t let her bleed out?”
“You still think of her as your meister.”
He made a move to argue that she was, in fact, obviously, still his meister but immediately clamped his mouth shut because Harvar was right. Maka wasn’t actually his meister anymore. He was a Death Scythe. He was Kid’s, but that was a load of bullshit, in his opinion. All of Kid’s directives had paired Soul with Maka, and that was normal. Usually, the meister who created the death scythe continued to work with said scythe. He honestly didn’t think Kid would make a habit of pairing him with someone else, all things considering. Sure, there would be times when they would be called apart, but Maka would always be one of Kid’s top agents, Soul had no doubt about that, so “apart” for them would never be too long.
And despite what Maka’s old man claimed, Soul wasn’t gunning to be Kid’s right-hand man. Spirit’s real competition was Liz and Patty, who were technically Death Scythes just by virtue of being Kid’s first chosen weapons, and no way would Spirit come out on top against those two. Soul didn’t think the old Scythe would be reassigned, but he knew where Kid’s preferences lay.
Regardless, he didn’t appreciate being threatened. Obviously, Harvar’s issue with him wasn’t the same trivial technicalities Spirit worried about. To Harvar, Soul had broken a rule every death weapon knew when they were told about the “wonders” of becoming a Death Scythe. In some way, you gave up your idea of meister. You no longer got to choose who wielded you; you were Death’s and Death’s alone, a title worth the sacrifice of choice.
Harvar had been one of those death weapons who had wanted to make that sacrifice before Kid had gone and changed the rules. Soul had been one of those weapons, too, at first. Definitely, before black blood had changed everything and Maka had become too important to lose.
There had been a time when he couldn’t fathom why some weapons had no desire to be Death Scythes. He understood now, a little too late.
And Harvar, the preceptive piece of shit, had caught on to that.
He swallowed his panic, fighting to keep it off his face. On the off-chance Harvar wasn’t bluffing, Soul didn’t know what Kid would do when he found out, but for propriety’s sake, he’d probably have to do a few missions sans Maka, and the dependency problems he was avoiding screamed at the very idea.
“Sure, Harvar, and don’t forget to tell him the part where you wouldn’t let us into the hotel room and then wanted to watch her bathe. I bet he’d love to hear that, especially with Liz and Pat right there next to him. Hey,” He turned to stare at the other boy, “FYI, those three have shared a bed before, too, so don’t forget to mention how inappropriate you think that is, okay? They’d get a good laugh out of it.”
Harvar didn’t reply, and nothing else was said between them. When they returned to the hotel, Maka and Ox weren’t speaking either. To say the least, the ride home was long and awkward.

(Rough) Fact Checking on Rui & Ukkomon's statements in 02TB
Tumblr media
Tbh I'm kinda concerned about people taking Rui's statements for granted and not realizing the movie is unclear what is legit and whatnot.
This is not Kizuna-like levels of screwed up, but this is still bugging me as i've been discussing about this movie with friends who managed to watch it before me, and once i watched it by myself i completely understood their thoughts and theories regarding the movie and the Rui & Ukkomon lore.
We still got no actual news of digital releases or EN subs (tho i believe fansubs might appear once the JP Blu-Ray/DVD is released in May) or any other country digital release (or Blu-Ray/DVD ones) so i can’t completely make a detailed lore busting post about Rui’s statements and what we know or were presented in the original Adventure’99, 02 and their extra materials like Drama CD and movies.
But i do remember tiny bits of the movie… And stuff said in the pre-release stream.
I’ll do my best here.
[WARNING FOR SPOILERS AHEAD]
The movie staff released a timeline for this movie, which indicates Rui met Ukkomon in February 29 1996 → I don’t think this is a contradiction, because if the Korean interview with SekiP is reliable (i mean, we can’t check what she said in JP, and the telephone game from JP to KR and to EN means something might have been lost in the process!), she said they changed a bit of the lore for this movie. Btw, the OG lore of Digimon Partnership count starts in 1995 and then it doubles year by year is still present in the movie, as there’s a scene where the current number of partnerships in the year of 2012, but the number stated is not exact since the movie takes place in February only. So of course the count wouldn’t be the full year number, which is 131,072 partnerships in total.
Rui and Ukkomon form a bond, and Ukkomon grants Rui the wish of having many friends, which he tells the 02 group that partnerships with digimon were the result of this wish → This is completely uncertain, and it is also doubted by the 02 kids in the movie. In Adv’99 and 02 we learn that there’s multiple sources for becoming a Chosen Child: Homeostasis (Adv Eight, possibly their predecessors); Holy Beasts (Daisuke, Miyako & Iori); unknown sources (Menoa, Meiko, Ken, Wallace, Worldwide Chosen, Dark Seed Children perhaps?)
Rui claims he’s the first person who was partnered with a digimon → Well, this is not wrong! Now, if he were claiming to be the first to have met or interacted with a digimon… He would’ve been wrong: The first human to get in touch with the Digital World and the digimon were actually two – Oikawa Yukio and Hida Hiroki (yes, Iori’s late dad), in the 1980s. Despite that, they never had digivices at all. Then in 1995 we possibly had a double digimon encounter happening: Wallace meeting Gummymon and Chocomon briefly ¹, and the Yagami siblings meeting a Koromon. This could mean Rui and Ukkomon were actually the fourth digimon encounter in the timeline. But what is correct is that he became Ukkomon’s partner first because he got the very first digivice in the world. Taichi and Hikari weren’t partnered with that same Koromon ², but they got their own partner digimon + digivices in 1999. And Wallace probably became Terriermon’s partner years after, possibly in 1996 and after Chocomon’s disappearance ³, or post-1996.
Rui claims Ukkomon is a special digimon because he can grant wishes → Okay, but i definitely remember the 02 Kids going like “sounds cool bro but we doubt it” when he said that. And the movie itself quite shows the opposite later: Ukkomon did not cure Rui’s father, and he was possibly manipulating everyone else like puppets (besides Rui’s parents i meant) – so what kind of digimon who can grant wishes is this?! He has no magical god-like powers at all! And his null lore (Bandai’s) profile points out that part of granting wishes are just rumors. But you know what said profile mentions too? That Ukkomon is able to hijack the opponents’ minds. It’s his species’ special move – Liar Dream – besides spinning like a beyblade to attack (Whirlpool Spin).
Rui claims he killed Ukkomon a long time ago → Also not totally true. Rui tried killing Ukkomon, but he couldn’t commit to it. He tried to destroy the digivice, which resulted in his injury in the right eye. Ukkomon did not… “die” apparently. Yes, he was melting, but one detail you might not know is that when a digimon dies, everything from their body, or their weapon is also erased too. Check Adv’99 death for Pumpkinmon and Gotsumon. The eye Ukkomon slapped into Rui’s face was still there after his “death” so this was the biggest hint for the audience. It was also implied in the Audio Drama #3 (released in the Japanese theaters, and soon in the BD/DVD deluxe box as bonus with the other two theater ones) – But it’s okay, he possibly never had a contact with another digimon or even a Chosen Child before meeting Daisuke & co, so we can’t blame him for believing he had killed Ukkomon.
In a flashback, Ukkomon tells Rui that he’s connected to something bigger → This might be the only legitimate truth he had told Rui, besides that Rui was the first person partnered with a digimon. Somehow, Ukkomon is connected to some god-tier entity because once BigUkkomon is destroyed, the digivices are not needed anymore. This part might be completely confusing for everyone else, but it’s not confirming Rui’s claims that the digimon partnerships were caused by Ukkomon, and yes the part of Ukkomon’s claims to be related to some higher up god-like entity.
The notes within the text:
To my biggest surprise… Wallace never mentions when his mother found the egg. But he definitely mentions when Chocomon disappears – 7 years before, which means 1995. I’ve seen many people think this movie goes against the canon in different ways… But now i’ve reached the conclusion that what Wallace meant is that he met Gummymon and Chocomon in the same year Chocomon disappeared in the flower field. Plus, Wallace is shown in those flashbacks as a 4 years old kid (stated in the Memorial Chronicle) and we know via a CD bonus card that Wallace’s age is 11 years old in 2002 (same as Daisuke, Takeru, Hikari and Ken) – so i guess if he had gotten the egg before 1995 he would’ve been too young to remember it (unless you opt for 1994, but i think this wouldn’t be possible…)
The Koromon who met Taichi and Hikari is implied to not be the same who was partnered with Taichi 4 years later in Adventure'99: the TV series Agumon knew Taichi’s name because of the data inserted on his egg by the Agents, which were also manufacturing the Crests and Digivices, according to Homeostasis’ analysis on the children from the Greymon vs Parrotmon fight.
Since Chocomon went missing, i suppose Wallace became partnered with Gummymon only, but if we go with Adv’99 and 02, the Chosen Children can evolve non-partnered digimon as well: Leomon mentions he only managed to evolve into SaberLeomon because of the Chosen Children’s digivices being used on him previously in the series, and in 02 we witnessed the Digimon Kaiser using his digivice to dark evolve Agumon into both SkullGreymon and MetalGreymon virus (the latter only when he created the Evil Spiral, of course).

tell my brother she ours
Pairings: Rengoku x black!femreader x Tengen
Warnings: smut. (cant believe I am doing this) 2 big men tearing them walls up. you're basically they sugar baby become girlfie (just read I promise). CRINGE OH MA GOD.
DARK CONTENT CONSUMERS/AUTHORS DNI
this is my first time so please. spare me. it is very obvious that I could not use certain words or phrases because I kept cringing so.
————————————————————————
you never really asked for much in life. You had a decent job at a small bakery and two rich men spoiling the fuck out of you.
It was random. You met one in the grocery store and the other at your job. It came naturally, just the casual flirting and occasional dates with each other which led them to start giving you money even though you didn't ask.
Rent is paid for, they would send groceries to your house and send designer clothes and bags. Anything you asked for you got it.
and you are just sweet as candy to them. Rejecting some of the things they wanted to give to you even though they sent it to your house anyways
but what you didn't know was, that the two men were co-owners of the country's wealthiest company, best friends even
and they didn't know that they were talking to the same woman until the two were talking about their love life and how they liked this girl and always sending her gifts and then they had the bright idea of showing each other on the count of three.
Once they flipped the phones around, it got awkwardly silent.
"no fucking way." Tengen exclamined
they couldn't be too mad at her because they weren’t really boyfriend and girlfriend and also, she didn't know she was talking to best friends.
"so what do we do now?" rengoku asked
You were on the way home from closing up the bakery. As you got in your car you received a phone call from kyojuro.
"hello?" you spoke
"Hi my love, how was your day at work today?" he asked
The two of them melted as they heard your sweet voice come through the phone as you talked about your day.
"why dont you meet me at my house sunshine? I can make dinner and we chill for a moment, that sounds ok?" He asked
You chirped up a sure and asked for him to send the address.
The two men looked at each other and left out silently.
You pulled up to this big ass house and seen two cars parked out front and thought that they were both of his. Knocking on the door he immediately invited you in and led you the couch.
You were definitely not expecting to see tengen sitting spread out on the couch with a glass of whiskey sending you a little wave
you grew nervous at the sight of the two fine men you've been talking to for the past 9 months or so sitting there smugly as they watched you sit nervously on the couch
"relax, you're not in trouble sweetheart" Tengen said leaning over to put his glass down.
"so...yall are friends??" you asked trying to wrap your mind around everything
"yes, and business partners."
"makes a lot of sense now, i'm sorr-" you began
"no need for apologies my love. To not waste anymore time we decided to make this a partnership."
"so basically, yall both are my boyfriends now, is this what youre saying to me right now?" you questioned
"yes thats exactly what we’re saying, if you dont want to do that no worries. We just want you to be comfortable." Tengen chimed in
The tree of you sat in silence while you thought about it.
"could it really be that bad? two men loving on you, giving you the world if you wanted it. What could go wrong?" you asked your self
"what do you say sweetheart?"
You simply nodded your head as you played with your fingers. Walking over to your figure tengen lifted your chin up to meet his eyes
"need to hear you say it verbally baby"
"y-yeah, im down"
Tengen crouched down to place a soft kiss on your lips while rengoku attacked you neck with hickies and bites
You let out the softest whimpers and moans. It was all too much for you in the moment. It was getting hard to kiss uzui back seeing that Kyojuro sucked on your neck so sweetly and uzui had his hands cupping your pretty face as he was kissing you.
Sending you off to the bed room the two men took another shot of whiskey and loosened their ties and shirts
"so are we playing good cop bad cop here or no?" Tengen asked
Kyojuro looked at him with a stale face as he held his glass
"What! i'm just trying to get a feel on how we're gonna do this" he exclaimed while rolling his eyes
walking to the bedroom Kyojuro gave a small chuckle to his best friend.
you were nervous. as fuck. if you would've known you were getting fucked you would have wore something more...sexually appealing but you already here now.
your thighs kept rubbing together in anticipation from what's about to go down in this bedroom making yourself even more flustered and aroused.
hearing the door open you popped up seeing the two men come in with gentle smiles
"are you sure you want to do this my love?" Kyo asked sweetly
"yeah, I'm sure" you responded.
Tengen slipped behind you and placed you in his lap while kyojuro sat in front of you with your legs open
Kyojuro began to kiss you again from your jaw, neck, chest as his fingers pulled your underwear to the side and started to rub up and down your folds.
You held in your whimpers and moans to save you from the embarrassment
"you gotta speak up baby" uzi teased
shaking your head no he instructed kyojuro to stop fingering you
whining you threw your head back and guided kyojuros fingers back to where they were
"whats wrong tengen?" he asked confusedly
"our pretty girl isnt being so nice to us. Its almost like... we're not making her feel good"
smacking his lips he brung his hand to your face and asked "are we making you feel good sweetheart?" and then nodding your head for you
"see! she said yes now can I resume what I was doing now?" he asked
"No not until I hear some words come out that pretty mouth" tengen replied
the two of you groaned in response to uzuis antics
"oh now you wanna respond when you dont get what you want" he sneered "such a spoiled girl you are"
"please, just let me touch her uzui" rengoku pleaded
Ren had your best interest in heart. He wanted to make you feel good and see you come undone. but his best friend had different plans.
"cmon sweetheart be good for me ok?" uzui said sweetly in your ear
you softly gave an ok to him and he finally let kyojuro go back to what he was doing.
It was a sight for sore eyes seeing you sandwiched between the two big beefy men , moaning and giving them praises for making you feel so good.
Taking off his shirt kyojuro slotted him self between your legs and began to place little kisses and licks on the inside of your thighs and soon landing on your clit giving little kisses and soon sucking on it making you squrim and wrapping your legs around his back.
Tengen placed little bites down your ear to your neck while he toyed with your nipples
Between him talking so sweet in your ear and kyojuro eating you out like a mad man you were nearing your release.
"oh youre so pretty when you cum my love, makes me want to give you another one" rengoku said coming up to place a kiss on your temple
and indeed he does. plowing into you while saying the filthiest but sweetest things in you ear while your clawing at his back moaning his name so sweetly over and over asking for more.
meanwhile, uzui sat in the chair across the room hard as brick seeing you ger ravished by his bestfriend
he started to slowly undress himself and palm himself in his pants at the sight of the two of you. he grew harder in anticpation for his turn with you
He thought Kyojuro was too sweet. it made his teeth rot.
once you came for a second time kyojuro gave you some water to help your heavy breathing,
uzui got on the bed and sat you on top of him
"how are you feeling pretty girl?" he asked sweetly
"good, im doing ok" you answered back in between breaths
responding with a smile he gave you a deep kiss and slid you onto him
your little whines fueled him knowing he was slightly bigger than Kyojuro he smiled menacingly. He instructed you to bounce slowly but it you were having trouble taking him all at once.
"I need help" you moaned out
seeing your big doe eyes basically pleading for his help he gave you a kiss on your forehead and obliged.
he lifted your hips and started to thrust into you while kissing your neck and talking in your ear.
as he made you a member of the cream team for the 3rd time that night he laid you onto your chest rubbing your back trying to help steady your breathing
Kyojuro ran you a bath as you laid on your boyfriends chest.
"you alright angel? I know this could've been a lot for your first time with us" uzui asked sweetly
"yeah, just sleepy thats all." you responded with closed eyes and a very soft voice
He carried you bridal style to the bathroom where kyojuro was already there waiting for you two.
Placing you in the tub every so gently the two climbed in behind you and laid you on thier bodies
"thank you. for everything." you said softly
the bubbles were floating onto your body the water was warm and your two boyfriends were warmer and you fell asleep in their arms.
you could get used to this.

Me reading Jungkook's Tropical chart 2nd house (Part 2)
I'll upload the video and the transcript of it. At the end I added the wrong chart but it is what it is.
youtube
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something I forgot to mention in the previous video. With Jupiter being in aquarius 2nd house. This made Jungkook had a very weird or unusual childhood than the average person. Not in a bad way because his Jupiter is more so positive. His Jupiter makes him want to speak about trying to make society a better place.
All because aquarius is about humanitarianism and environmental science. Moving along his Jupiter aspects the 8th house of in laws (any in laws), not just the spouse's family, but Spouse's money, gifts, unearned money, inheritance etc. Perfect in regards to money because now Jupiter increases the amount of unearned money and gifts Jungkook obtains in his lifetime. Yeah he would be one of those types of people that would have other people willingly give him money and gifts. Gifts for particularly birthdays and Christmas. I wonder if his fans send him gifts?
A way he gets unearned money can happen is through inheritance. Keep in mind too 8th house is the spouse's finances so if he gets married or engaged We can easily assume he ends up with a spouse that has slightly above average income than the average individual. Since Jupiter increases the spouse's finances. He might have a spouse that comes from a big family background.
Here's the thing though since Jupiter in aquarius is giving its energy to the 8th house.Jungkook would have weird inlaws. Any in laws not just the spouse's family could be a sister in law.Another too whenever Jupiter influences the 8th house regardless of the sign a person becomes heavily involved. Involved with occult sciences like astrology.
Jungkook is definitely willing to pay an astrologer or a tarot/psychic reader. His views on things like astrology are kinda unusual. He wants scientific proof or a legitimate reason to believe in things like astrology. When he does indulge in those mystical things he won't do it the traditional way that it is practiced. People like to say Jupiter expands things and the 8th house represents genitalia but I'm not gonna get into that discussion. 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
Things of the 2nd house like money sources go into the 4th house. This means 4th house stuff like homes, vehicles, the mother etc become reasons for Jungkook gaining money. Then I remembered reading on my Twitter show picture of someone saying the 4th house represents our birth place. Turns out that might definitely be true for Jungkook. As we know he made lots of money from performing in Korea. This 2nd house placement that he has shows a person making money from local governments too.I wouldn't know how the local government stuff works for him though. His role would be to administer things. Which if he was to ever work a local government job or a partnership with the local government. Then Jungkook is doing something upper management related because Saturn is in the 4th house.
I could go on forever about this placement like how homes can make him money. Obviously most would say that's real estate. I think it's more so construction and him selling land rather than actual homes. 2nd house is family right? Connected to the house of homes or birth place. This means most of his family members stay in Korea and that's where his family lineage is from. Additionally family members stay in his homes. With Saturn in the 4th house either Jungkook's family members are restricted from going into residences that he stays in.
Now which family members? Only he or his family would know 🤣
Regardless if they do Jungkook doesn't like family members being in his home or vehicles. This shows family events happens in the places he lives. The house of savings is connected with the mother. I wouldn't know how that works but I don't think he would be a fan of his mother managing his savings. Which his mother doing so is very likely.
2nd house shows what we speak about so he speaks about local governments, what's going on his home environments. From the perspective of how it affects him rather than others. For example the local government implements a new law. Rather than Jungkook talking about how it affects the citizens of South Korea. He instead talks about how it affects himself. Since Saturn is in Aries. Aries represents the 1st house which is yourself.
This could show he keeps his savings in South Korea as well because the 4th house is birth place.

hi :)) PLEASE can you tell me a little of what the plu mafia au is about because those tags on your last post are insane and i am so intrigued
Ohohohohoho @lewis-winters may have been the better person to ask but by God I'm gonna give you the best run down I can.
PLU is our abbreviation for 'People Like Us', which is our OC verse centered around Natalie Morse and Arthur Foster, and the PLU Mafia AU is exactly what it says on the tin, a Mafia AU centered on them. We've built quite a bit of wider lore around them, especially for Winnix, Speirton, and Webgott, which all feature heavily.
With regards to @lewis-winters tags specifically, it's fair to say given the nature of the AU the relationships definitely take on a more... morally complicated?? Flavour??? Than normal??? The short version is that Speirs is a crime boss operating out of Boston, and Lip is his right hand, but also a corrupt cop, which breeds an interesting power dynamic. They could both sink the other whenever it's most convenient, and that's something that hangs over them. In a slightly more romantic sense Speirs knows he'd never have the heart to do anything to Lip, but he'd let Lip tear him to shreds if he chose to. Normally he's vicious, ruthless, but with Lip he leans his head back to give better access to his throat.
(There's also even more complications with an underlying past Speirs/Liebgott semi-unrequited dynamic, but I feel like that requires its own post.)
Winnix is, if you can believe, even darker. They head a prolific and long standing crime dynasty. They have killed for each other. They've also built a family and a respectable outward image. This includes Tab, Dick's protégé and their pseudo-son (they also have a daughter, Bea, who is another of @lewis-winters really wonderful OCs who I recommend checking out in all 'verses). Things start falling apart when Tab is sent to deal with Natalie's rising star in their world, but ends up getting involved with her. There's a long, uneasy, partnership that forms, but eventually the divided loyalties become too much of a risk, and Dick chooses to preserve his and Nix's life over keeping Tab around.
I feel like I've explained all of this very poorly, and I'm so sorry, but I hope that's explained at least some of it? Its been a minute since we've properly talked about it so some stuff I might have gotten wrong or missed. Please feel free to ask more if you want though!

Bumblebee might not be Queerbaiting, but it is shit representation
Discussions about BB are as common as weeds in a garden. You cant even move a step without running into one. And its quite understandable in my opinion. After all, this is the "flagship" of the series. The main romance that is pushed by the crew, the fandom, and the show.
For a long time, many people, especially those in the LGBT+ community have called the ship "Queerbaiting", me being one of those people. But after some time, i do think that we should stop using that word. While the meaning behind us using it is clear, it is not within the definition of Queerbaiting.
"Queerbaiting"
Queerbaiting as a term is definited as - A marketing technique for fiction and entertainment in which creators hint at, but then do not depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation. The purpose is to attract ("bait") a queer or straight ally audience with the suggestion or possibility of relationships or characters that appeal to them.
Considering that BB is definitely confirmed by now. The term does not technically apply to BB as it is. However, we do have to keep in mind that many people used the term not with its technical definition.
As far as i have noticed, and used the term myself, it has mostly been used as a more general way to say that BB is shit representation that RT is capitalizing upon just to earn more money while behind close doors being a shit and not exactly accepting company. "Queerbaiting" was employed as a term to basically describe all of that and more. Because its easier to use one phrase than type out a paragraph of everything wrong with BB every time one talks about the romance.
Raina Deerwater (Entertainment research and analysis manager for the GLAAD Media Institute) has even said this on the matter:
"If there's a very poor representation of a queer character, people are like, 'We were queerbaited.' No, there's an actual queer person there. Unfortunately, it's not good [representation],"
BB is not a good romance
I think many of us already believe that BB is not a good romance for many various reasons. But i personally think that those reasons should be repeated so that we all could learn and teach others about them.
First of all, BB is a toxic relationship. While some treat it as a "meme" or an out of universe joke, many people have noticed that Blake and Yang share uncomfortable qualities with the people who hurt their significant other the most. Yang sharing hers with Adam, while Blake shares her with Raven. And those qualities have been made manifest in the show itself. With Blake abandoning Yang at her lowest moment while Yangs inability to keep her anger in check has caused its own issues. Even besides that, there is a large issue of codependency between each other that the show depics, but does not acknowledge.
Yang and Blake have become less their own individual characters and more like planets orbiting each other. They barely have their own scenes or scenes with other people. This does not mean that those scenes do not exist, but most of what Blake and Yang do centers around their relationship. Many people have even noticed how this has come at the expense between Yangs and Rubys relationship as sisters. That relationship does still exist, but one can definitely notice that it is weakened. Be it the moment when in V8 Yang is more worried about Blake being dissapointed in her than having a fight with Ruby, or be it the entirety of V9 and the clusterfuck that was Rubys suicide.
Not only is this kind of co-dependance not very good writing, in reality, such a relationship would be considered extremelly unhealthy. A relationship is supposed to be a partnership, a close one. But its not supposed to turn into people being attached to the hip. And the show even encourages and shows it as a GOOD thing. Which is not a very great message to send people. Co-dependance can have a good effect to an extent, people bonding over trauma and getting better with each others help. But its not a replacement for actually dealing with those issues.
Moreover, the romance itself has been very vague. It seems that the writers did not want to commit to an actual relationship. Before V5 the most we got from BB was them being friendly or familial to one another. It is not until V6 that the actual romance starts. But its not an actual romance is it? Neither Blake or Yang confront the many issues that were caused by the finale of V3. They just kill Adam, and thats it. Nothing. No talking, no nothing. After that its only the most basic of interactions, them having fun or the show going "Aw, look, they are so cute together". Thats not a meaningful relationship. Its just empty calories.
RT Rainbow Capitalism
But that alone would not be much of a problem. After all, a shit romance is a shit romance. No need to care about it, right? Well, that becomes a bit difficult when the company behind the romance starts treating it as bigger than life. When the corporation starts using it as a smokescreen for their abuses, or when they use that to get more money out of people.
And that is what BB is being used for by RT and its fanboys.
Lets be very clear, part of the reason why RT and RWBY are so defended despite their writing and despite the many abuses by the company, is because some people just like BB and they REFUSE to believe that anything connected to a romance they love is actually made to trick them into spending money. BB is partially a tool to deepen the parasocial relationship between the FNDM and RT.
That was made very clear when the Voice Actresses of Blake and Yang did an underwear BB photoshoot on only fans. I have no problem with onlyfans or people earning money through sexual work. Go get the bag as they say. But the whole BB thing? The very clear parasocial relationship established? How the Voice Actresses of Blake and Yang are even seen by people AS the characters themselves? All of that is cynical exploitation meant to turn into support for the company.
Hell, even before the confirmation of BB that was in full swing. The BB song? The constant "hints", the constant references, especially by the voice actresses? BB did not take 10 years to come into fore because its a "slow burn", it did so because RT wanted to exploit the ship for as long as they could before a confirmation. And man, is it a very convenient "accident" that the confirmation of BB is happening right AFTER RT landed in hot water due to abusing their workers and the next volume is up in the air. Man, thats very weird /s
Let us also not forget the latest fiasco when BB was used to promote a... COMPLETELY UNRELATED thing by RWBY twitter. You would imagine that would give people some perspective. But besides the uproar things are the same as usual it seems.
Oh, and also the merch. That was sold out. Multiple times now i think? I wonder why its specifically BB merch that is getting sold out. Really makes you think.
And let us be clear, RT is not the only corporation doing this. Blizzard has become infamous with its BS and how its various LGBT+ character in Overwatch reveals just seem to "conveniently" coincide with yet another Blizzard PR shitstorm like a lawsuit. Or Riot, which confirms LGBT+ relationships and then... Does nothing with them. Like the character Varus who was retconned into a demon fused with a gay couple. Which noone will ever know unless they read the story of the character.
RT is not the only company doing this shit, but that dont make this shit good.
So basically, what i want to say is as follows. Despite knowing how we use the term "queerbaiting" to refer to all of the above. We should probably avoid doing so. Let us instead simply call BB a shitty romance meant to exploit LGBT+ markets.

I can't resist a dare, what are your kinks?
OH LAWD I forgot I said that. I really need to stay off tumblr when I'm first up in the morning and overconfident in my ability to confidently talk about my sexual side. Whelp. Heeeeeeere we go anyway!!!! (I kinda wanna see how long the list gets mwahaha)
Praise kink 'cause duh
Found out this year I am an appreciator of degredation to a degree
Casual day to day and slightly hardcore dominance
CNC with nonverbal safe signals
Oral fixation (hence the nonverbal signals)
Certain types of bondage, not a fan of swings, but getting my hands tied behind my back or to the bed posts is a must try at least once.
Breeding. Must I explain.
Very very light exhibitionism
BDSM, though humiliation isn't a huge turn on for me. I feel that humiliation and just giving me the choice to do something slightly embarrassing for a "reward" is different (e.g. saying something quite dirty that I'm wayyyy too shy to say is fine, you degrading me is fine but having me say non-sexual degrading things about myself is a no no)
I'm quite a big fan of marking. Seeing bruises on my skin has me feeling some type of way.
I adore possessiveness, but I feel it can get hypocritical very quickly so I'd rather the absence of it than have both of those together.
Very slight breath play, mostly prefer choking
Orgasm denial/forced edging
Overstimulation
Now, I do not have that kink where you try to feed someone so much they gain weight. I think it plays into my oral fixation honestly. I just love having people feed me directly sometimes. It feels intimate and full of love whilst showing I've submitted complete control.
I honestly think I'm more of a switch leaning person than a full on submissive. I haven't really explored it as I've not had the opportunity to, but I definitely have desires/fantasies that are more dominant leaning than my usual pleasure fodder.
Free use- offset of CNC
Primal play? I think that's what it's called. Basically if you played a very high stakes game of hide and seek with me in a very thick patch of woods I would not become a recognisable person.
SOMNOPHILIA. HOW COULD I FORGET HER.
Brat taming. Though I'm not the best actress.
Lactation kink. my deep dark secret you didn't see this.
Did I mention praise
Double penetrations, like spit roasting, but with a dildo you can stick to things. I'm not big on sharing or being shared in reality.
I go through phases of adoring the thought of getting kidnapped into the woods, and then sometimes it's a hard no. Probably one of the things I would agree to but it would be tentative and the safe word being used is quite likely.
I don't know if forced reading is considered a kink but trying to read something while other things are happening is a big oofta moment for me
I guess CNC/BDSM already implies it, but rough sex on the whole gets me going quite easily.
I am also a fan of just vanilla stuff! More often than not it's very relaxed scenarios that I get off to since I'm usually trying to help myself sleep.
Most of all, and this is the only requirement, I need banter. The idea of being "beaten" or matched mentally and made to feel like an equal/maybe even a bit less smart than my partner is such a turn on for me. Which sounds ridiculous because I can't word it properly. Basically, though it sounds so conceited, I always feel like I'm 10 steps ahead of people. I like being challenged, and being praised for "winning" any sort of game is equally as arousing as being degraded for not getting it. Everyone's always blowing smoke up my ass about how smart I am, and I have a very hard time believing it. If I've entered into some sort of D/s partnership, it's because I've given complete trust over and I'm going to believe most anything you say. If you say I'm smart, I'm such a good smart girl! If you say what a dumb little whore I am for getting it wrong, I must be just a desperate and silly girl who couldn't focus enough to actually try and beat you
This has gotten ridiculously long and the likelihood of anyone actually having made it to these words is so slim I feel silly.

I know you're not gonna answer this publicly and that's fine, but the CF issue has been so obscured, people forget what they're fighting for. The amount of money the IDF receives from Curseforge is NOTHING compared to the money the receive from EA. So, by continuing to purchase and play EA products, everyone is contributing to the IDF way more than CF ever could. paying for your meds is more important than being woke on the internet. Everyone is a hypocrite.
I'm gonna answer it bc I'm genuinely curious- does the IDF receive money directly from EA in any way? Like, is there a record of that? Of course, they're definitely doing it through this partnership with Overwolf- they've made Curseforge more popular and brought them probably millions in ad revenue. But is there something other than that I haven't heard about? My searching since you sent this ask hasn't turned up anything, but you sound like you're referencing something I don't know.
As for the rest of your ask... well. There is some measure of hypocrisy in just about everything we do, I think. I believe I mentioned it in my initial post, but life is a balancing game. People no doubt go too far on the internet to compensate for their lack of action and sense of helplessness irl, that is a fact. But, you know, it's complicated. There's a lot of people here that just genuinely want to do the right thing. They're not trying to be hypocritical, they're trying to do what's right in a world where that seems hopeless. When it feels like you can do nothing irl, feeling like you can actually control right and wrong online is somewhat comforting. I'm speaking from personal experience here.
But the internet does have a habit of making every wrongdoing seem like the worst thing that's ever happened, ever, and it's easy to get swept up in that. Everything is like, in extremes, you know? You're either a good person or the worst person ever to live. All or nothing. So in your want to do good, you tend to only consider other people good if they are in the extreme- that is to say, they do everything right the first time, never have a bad take, never need to grow or change. "Good" people are put on a pedestal, and as soon as they fall, no matter by how small the transgression, they become "bad" and irredeemable. And to bad actors, they also become acceptable to mock and harass, which is another problem. But the people reacting are not all the same people with the same values, and they're not all doing it for the same reasons.
I don't think the issue has been become obscured, exactly, and I don't think it's because of hypocrisy at its core. First, I think there's a lack of information. People may not be looking to EA because they simply don't know the extent of their partnership with CF, and/or just aren't thinking about it like that. They see a post that says Overwolf funds the IDF and to boycott, and they do it, not much deeper than that. I think that's the primary and most innocent reason, and I think most people are in this category and genuinely well-intentioned. But secondly, there is some hypocrisy involved, because... well, they may just not want to boycott EA. Whether because of convenience, laziness, or the cognitive dissonance involved with realizing a lot of their favorite creators/influencers are therefore implicit. It's a lot easier to ignore the actions of people you really like than it is for those you dislike or don't really know of. Or they are a creator that is benefiting heavily from staying in EA's pocket. Finally, the smallest subsection of people in this example are people arguing in bad faith for whatever reason- those that just want a reason to attack someone, are trolling, or want to make themselves look or feel good. They're the minority, but they're loud... and some of them are unfortunately popular for some reason. Which magnifies their opinion. But all of these different types of people mix together, and that is what we see.
There's never going to be a perfect solution to this, but I think your concerns can be addressed partially by one thing: knowledge. If more people know EA's role and really think about it, the first category I mentioned- genuine, well intentioned people- will become on board with boycotting them the same way they're doing Overwolf. Will it affect the hypocritical people, trolls, and other bad actors? No, of course not. But it will help for those that genuinely believe in what they're saying and doing. I think reminding people to have a little bit more empathy will also help, in regards to the all-or-nothing attitude of the internet. It doesn't hurt to give people grace and remember that they can be struggling, too. That's why I (obviously) don't hate the creators that were/are still on CF. I don't know them, their lives, or their struggles. I hope that they'll eventually boycott, but if they don't, I'm not going to harass them. Just like I don't harass the workers at McDonald's or Domino's for working to support themselves and their families. I don't blame them for what the corporations they work for are doing. And I'm hoping others will eventually see it that way, too.

OBX4 Rant:The Cameron Siblings
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As far as next season, I feel like Rafe was so calm towards Sarah this season like even hearing her name isn’t a trigger or struggle anymore. I feel like him admitting that he was wrong for hurting her in the previous season and his attitude this season and even him threatening John B it’s going to be a build up. Sarah and John B are already on shaky Ground because of their emotional states, and how Sarah has proven time and time again That she’s not good at talking things out and her reflects reaction is to cheat(love her but it’s true). So ward is officially gone, so is Big Sean so they quite literally only have each other in the rest of the Pogues, but that’s discussion for another day I’m talking about what I think is to come for these three next season. A lot of people think because Ward is gone now rafe it’s bound to go off the deep end and officially go crazy, and be worse than he was in the previous seasons ever….. but I feel like that would be predictable. I feel like there’s definitely is a custody battle bound to happen. If not Rose versus Sarah and John b for the custody, definitely her versus Rafe and his new girlfriend, Sophia. . We didn’t get much screen time for Sophia last season, but I do believe her relationship with Rafe will have purpose and slowly give him development, but also bring some change that no one even expected. Rafe and Sarah are all shaky ground still but he has somebody else in the friend group, who now technically does owe him one (This is where Kie comes into play) she was kidnapped with him and locked with him for a while we see and his resistance to hurt her and his all though subtle aggressiveness he shows her respect and offers her partnership and safety. Kiara also got to see a partial gentleness. In race that you don’t really get to see him often not unless in a scene with Wheezie . If you think about it is a custody battle were to happen, Jon B, JJ, and Pope would probably suggest to Sarah to sue both Rhoades and Reese for full custody but Rafe is still Sarah’s brother and as much as the writers haven’t shown it much, but when listing off everything she has lost Sarah does include her entire family yet constantly remind them that she’s lost her brother losing her father officially must have its affect and I feel like that’s really going to show in season four I feel like the writers should take care of some thing that I’ve heard some fans ask, for which was what was Rafe and Sarah‘s relationship like early in their childhood, and before they came in to focus how much favoritism Ward had towards Sarah . They had to be close for Sarah to feel like she was losing something when it came to Rafe and for Rafe to suddenly start feeling his guilt for what he puts sarah through . I feel like if the producers actually want more than just four seasons, Rafe has become a fan favorite and character development has been asked for a lot with his character. They teased out what he could be this season by showing that he now has resistance in hurting Sarah if you ask me, it seems like he’s picking and choosing the people he wants to protect and care about, and his family slowly starting to become more of a priority even without his dad there . I feel like without ward. Rafe will try to reach out to Sarah, which will bring in the emotional ties begin I don’t know if Whezzie is there half sister, but it is known that Sarah and Rafe have the same mother it’s hasn’t been said if she passed or left, but due to how Sarah described what happen with her and Kiara how she gets scared when people get too close to her so she leaves it would make sense if their mom left them and that’s why Sarah ended up, so scared to be so emotionally close to people and why a relationship with ward was so important to Rafe because he didn’t get much time to build one with his biological mother . Actually, she would be a great add to next season this season, focused on the treasure in Romance next season is another chance to bring in noches Sarah and Rafe’s Mom but John B’s to…..RANT

Ok! I have a (very long) cmi theory and I feel good about it:
I think Jungkook is feeling insecure about himself and his status in comparison to OC. He seems to care a lot for her and has her on a pedestal. And, when you’re in a partnership with someone/love someone and your growth in life isn’t matching theirs that can be really difficult to navigate. You ask yourself why would this person who has it all figured out want me? You’re stuck comparing and feeling inadequate. So, I think Jungkook is going to be his own worst enemy and doubt himself. I also think OC’s family/job is going to break down communication and exasperate their relationship.
Anddd here is my evidence, your honor:
cmi3: “If he were to terminate this friendship, would you remember him? He also wonders what it’d be and vice versa. At least the flower you drew is something he’d like to remember” [Worrying about the future. Also, I think a hint to him getting the flowers tatted]
“Since you met him, Jungkook has never failed to brag about his talents and endurance.” “…the timid combination of humility and shyness surprised you.” “Like he can’t quite believe that he finished his studies with flying colors; above average. God’s favorite.”  JK: “I can do it, yeah? Open up a studio and all?” [Shows his insecurities/doesn’t fully believe in himself]
“Yours, Jungkook, no one else’s” The softness in his words when he asks, “Why… angel?” [Wondering why she would be his - insecure]
“As if you, too, have figured yourself out and immortalized your being in a notebook. A well-written character in a book.” [Pedestal thing again, she’s perfect and has it all figured out in his eyes]
“Sex itself changes too - when he lets you ride him one day, it’s not because of the usual fever he drowns in when he hands over control. It’s something else. He’s not looking at you.” [The one place Jungkook feels in control is in the bedroom & by giving her the control he can’t choose or allow his emotions to take over]
cmi4:  “You’re my girl…aren’t you?” [Wanting to claim her in some way to bring a sort of peace and security to himself]
“I think if you wanted to… or tried hard enough, you could break my heart.” [Knows he’s in too deep and feels like she has the power]
“Think anyone who knows you or is liked by you feels at least a little proud…” [Pedestal, he thinks highly of her] ____________ If I'm wrong about this then I don’t want to be right!!! I'm scared!
Sorry, this is so long but I just love this story and I literally had to create a Tumblr so I could get all this out and praise you 😭
I love your writing. There will be lines that stop me in my tracks and I have to reread them multiple times because wow! Your world-building and storytelling are a pleasure to read. I wish you much success in all your writing endeavors :')
wait... wait there's so much to unpack and i'm genuinely speechless 😭 first of all, u created a tumblr just for that? thank u so much what the heck, i'm absorbing all the praise like a sponge !! :'D
onto ur theory... wow. there are a few things i can actually confirm since they won't have too much of an influence on jk's secret – they're observations that i was just waiting for someone to mention, so 🥺
jungkook is usually someone who has a lot of confidence in himself. as u pointed out this one quote, oc thinks he never stops bragging about his grades and talents – so he knows he's good at something... but when it comes to comparing himself to her? she's definitely on a pedestal. “a well-written character in a book”? yeah, that's what she is for him
he has so damn much respect for her and everything she does, the way she powers through every hurdle and comes out stronger. he really does think highly of her – which results in all those thoughts he has, like "would she remember me if i went away?" or "can i really succeed in life?"
the thing i love most about this ask is the bit about why he gives away control. because that's EXACTLY !!! what i had in mind when i wrote that he doesn't look at her. when he's in control, he's aware of everything he's doing as well as every one of her reactions... but when she's in charge and on top of him, he feels like he can force himself to shut out his feelings for just a moment. so when he stops looking at her in that moment, he tries to stop the intensity with which he's falling for her
that man is scared. she's scared. i'm scared lol
yes, he wanted to confirm that she's his and won't fade away. and yes, he definitely thinks she has the power to hurt him.. the way he has the power to hurt her.
can't yet say much to the "why, angel?", though it was a somewhat harmless thing – but ur theories are god tier. and well, maybe those things do influence what's gonna happen in cmi5, bcos even before u sent the ask, i had a big section outlined that thematises all that. so oh gosh yes, this was so interesting to read, i absolutely love ur mind 😭
and aghhh thank u so so much for reading and praising me like that, u don't know what it means to me 😭 seriously. and it's a pleasure to meet u 🤍

Digimon Data Squad Dub Comparison Episode 46 - The Truth About BanchoLeomon
This is a companion to my commentary on the original Japanese Digimon Savers! Reading my commentary on the original version of this episode (which you can find here) is recommended before reading this dub comparison.
Original name ~ Dubbed name
Masaru Daimon ~ Marcus Damon
Yoshino Fujieda ~ Yoshino “Yoshi” Fujieda
Tohma H. Norstein ~ Thomas H. Norstein
Ikuto Noguchi ~ Keenan Crier
Yggdrasil ~ King Drasil
Professor Suguru Daimon ~ Doctor Spencer Damon
BanchouLeomon ~ BanchoLeomon
Craniummon ~ Craniamon
Chika Daimon ~ Kristy Damon
Yukidarumon ~ Frigimon
Mercurimon ~ Merukimon
Dukemon ~ Gallantmon
[Since several characters share the same name between the original and the dub, quotes from the dub will always be in italics, while quotes from the original will not, in order to distinguish them.]
  Here’s another time where I’m briefly mentioning the preview of this episode that played at the end of episode 45: it showed nothing of the flashback parts and instead had a whole chunk from right near the end of this episode? Weird choice. Do they not think people would be interested to see that they’re going to learn more about Spencer and BanchoLeomon, having just had that bombshell dropped?
Craniummon:  “I… have always been troubled. I incessantly pondered over whether Yggdrasil’s way of justice was true or not.”
~~~~~
Craniamon: “I’ve always debated in my heart over King Drasil’s decisions… But in the end, I’ve always sided with the King, and kept my pledge of loyalty to him intact.”
Except for the part where, in the dub, it didn’t seem quite so much like Craniamon was siding with King Drasil simply out of loyalty, but rather because he’d actually been persuaded that humans suck and deserve to be annihilated.
Craniummon: “But… You must have wanted to tell me such thoughts were wrong.”
~~~~~
Craniamon: “You must have wanted to tell me that you thought the King’s way of justice wasn’t justice at all.”
In the original, it could almost be interpreted here like Craniummon thinks Suguru was trying to tell him he shouldn’t have been deliberating about Yggdrasil at all and should have just mindlessly gone along with it, which definitely wasn’t right. I appreciate the dub being clearer about it.
Craniamon: “Isn’t that right… Spencer Damon?!”
Craniamon sounds almost angry here, which… he really shouldn’t, at all? What is with his voice acting giving completely the wrong impression in some of his lines in these last couple of episodes and making him sound like he’s still an antagonist, come on.
Garudamon: “Spencer… Damon…?!”
Craniamon: “Your daughter should be able to tell that this is he.”
This is phrased oddly like he’s saying Kristy is Garudamon’s daughter, since he refers to Spencer as “he” at the end of the sentence, making him sound like a different person to the “you”.
BanchoLeomon:  “Craniamon, why? Tell me!”
The “tell me!” is weirdly demanding of him considering that he’s asking for the why of something Craniamon literally only just started doing.
Craniummon:  “I wanted to try believing once more… in the infinite possibilities that humans and Digimon can create together!”
~~~~~
Craniamon:  “I wanted to try believing once more… in the potential that humans and Digimon can live together.”
Craniamon’s “potential” here is only talking about the possibility of them living together in future. It’s got nothing to do with that idea of “unlimited potential” power that human and Digimon partnerships can bring out, even though… that was the entire point of Craniamon’s episode with the shield. The dub literally made it the title of that episode… but suddenly they’ve forgotten about it, apparently.
Cutting right from BanchoLeomon watching Craniamon hold up the worlds (which is technically a flashback) straight to BanchoLeomon standing in front of Marcus in the present is a little bit awkward when there’s not an opening in between to split them up. Alas.
BanchouLeomon: “When you were a little boy… you fell off the monkey bars and hit your head.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Remember falling off the monkey bars on your sixth birthday?”
Marcus’s… sixth birthday? Which was at least ten years ago, for Spencer to have been there? Uhhhhh.
Was anyone still waiting for the punchline to this joke I set up wayyy back at the beginning of the dub commentary? Because here it is, at last. Remember how I went out of my way to establish that Marcus’s age had to be fourteen, because he’s in eighth grade and hasn’t been held back a grade based on the exams episode? And how Thomas’s age is also fourteen, because the only information we have on his age is that it’s the same as Marcus’s?
EXCEPT… apparently Marcus is sixteen, according to this episode. So I guess he’s just magically simultaneously either fourteen or sixteen, depending on which episode you’re watching! And therefore so is Thomas, who is the same age as Marcus, whatever age that is! Good job, dubbers, a round of applause for how much of a damn you give about keeping details straight.
(And no, one can’t argue that they could both be correct if we imagine the events of the series took two whole years, because his dad was established to have been missing for ten years at the very beginning; this line here means that Marcus has to have been sixteen at the beginning of the series. In which he was also fourteen. Magically.)
Also, in the original, this is Suguru referring to an event that Masaru actually mentioned back in episode 20! But in the dub, he didn’t, because the dubbers were too busy making a reference to one of Marcus’s VA’s other roles, so we miss out on that fun little connection there.
Suguru:  “If you’re a man, then bear with it!”
~~~~~
Spencer: “Everybody falls down, son. What’s important is to get back up!”
Since we couldn’t keep the manliness, this is a decent equivalent! It also gets across a sense that this might have been very instrumental into shaping Marcus into the unendingly determined person he is today.
BanchouLeomon:  “A BANCHOU NEVER LIES!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “BANCHOLEOMON NEVER LIES!”
This was Suguru was unknowingly quoting something Masaru said in episode 30. In the dub, this was indeed the exact dub version of that same line from episode 30. It’s a little odder that Spencer happens to unknowingly quote it, though. A general sense of “a banchou is the kind of person who wouldn’t lie” is plausible for both father and son to believe, but it’s a bit more out of nowhere for them both to insist that this specific person never lies, completely separately. It almost reads like Spencer is knowingly quoting that line of Marcus’s, but he can’t be, because he wasn’t there for it.
Gaomon:  “He’s alive?”
BanchouLeomon:  “I won’t die that easily. That’s because this body has two lives dwelling within it.”
~~~~~
Gaomon: “You’re still alive?”
BanchoLeomon:  “I would hope you’d have more faith in me than that. Inside my heart… my body is supported by two life force energies.”
It perhaps makes more sense that having twice as much life force energy makes him harder to kill, rather than simply having two consciousnesses inside him. Though, I guess this has just casually established that, hey, that sparkly yellow life force energy stuff that Kurata was harvesting from all the Digimon he killed? Humans have it too, apparently…? I’m not sure that’s the case in the original.
It's kind of odd, though, that BanchoLeomon expected Gaomon to have “more faith” in his survivability, because he has two life force energies inside him… when Gaomon didn’t know that.
Suguru:  “But I have an important mission to meet Yggdrasil, the God of the Digital World!”
~~~~~
Spencer:  “I am only passing through your territory on my way to find King Drasil, the ruler of the Digital World.”
While Suguru was being pretty polite about this in the original, there was still a certain determination in his tone, which matched his facial expression for this line here. Spencer’s delivery, meanwhile, is so calmly polite that it doesn’t match the expression at all and seems kinda off.
BanchouLeomon: “What?”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “King Drasil?”
BanchouLeomon narrows his eyes as he questions this. In the original, it just reads like he doesn’t see that as enough of an excuse for Suguru to pass through his turf without a fight. In the dub, because he specifically mentions King Drasil, it sounds like he has some kind of personal investment in the King that makes him more interested in Spencer because of it – which I’m pretty sure isn’t meant to be it. Most Digimon aren’t even supposed to be sure it exists.
BanchouLeomon:  “A banchou or a god… Who is greater?”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “I’m afraid not. Not without a fight.”
Because the dub made zero attempt to localise the concept of a banchou, they couldn’t keep BanchouLeomon’s ridiculously manly-dork line, and instead had to have him ask for a fight in a much more normal way.
BanchouLeomon:  [narrating] “A battle between men has no need for a reason. We simply fire up our fighting spirits as we mutually display our fierce pride.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: [narrating] “When two immovable forces meet, sooner or later, something is going to have to give.”
Because there’s no manliness in the dub either, this line also had to change. It doesn’t really work as well, because it makes it sound like Spencer only got into the fight with BanchoLeomon because he was physically forced to in order to get past? Except, he wasn’t; he could literally have kept walking and left. It fails to properly get across the idea that he simply shared BanchouLeomon’s worldview about fighting and decided it’d be a fun challenge to test their strength against each other – that he did it because he wanted to.
Suguru:  “Well fought…”
BanchouLeomon: “You threw some pretty good punches yourself…”
~~~~~
Spencer: “Well done…”
BanchoLeomon: “Thanks. You got a few good licks in yourself.”
This is a fairly direct translation of the original here, but what it isn’t in the dub is a delightful callback to what Agumon and Marcus said to each other after their very first fight, because those lines were completely different in the dub of episode 1. Naturally, the dubbers did not watch ahead when they were dubbing episode 1 to realise those lines would get a callback. (Agumon’s line was “You’re pretty good… for a human”, which wouldn’t work here at all considering that the human and Digimon roles are swapped in this callback.)
What this does at least have going for it in the dub is that both Damon-Digimon bonding moments have the same BGM of Probably Marcus’s Theme: Heartwarming Acoustic Guitar Edition, whereas they had different BGM pieces in the original. So there’s that!
BanchouLeomon: “I’m a banchou. BanchouLeomon.”
Suguru:  “A banchou, huh? No wonder you’re so strong.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Around here they call me… BanchoLeomon.”
Spencer: “Nice meeting you, friend. Better your friend than your foe.”
Oh hey, remember how when we first met BanchoLeomon in episode 28, he wouldn’t stop yammering about his friends? He hasn’t been doing that at all here, in this scene where it’s definitely him and not Spencer, in which he’s about to make a friend. Spencer is the only one who brings up this notion of friendship in a vaguely similar way, and only briefly. Yep, they totally dropped that out-of-nowhere character trait when they realised it didn’t fit his character, didn’t they.
(Given episode 28’s form, this bit here still kinda smacks of that “oops we need to replace the banchou stuff with something else, ummm, FRIENDSHIP”, but at least it’s not overdone and feels natural here.)
BanchouLeomon: [narrating] “And that’s how we completely hit it off with each other.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: [narrating] “And that’s how we became friends.”
Bah, far more boringly low-key about it here, like normal people. They only “became friends”, rather than completely hit it off with each other like ridiculous manly dorks.
BanchouLeomon: “MASARU! LISTEN UNTIL SOMEONE FINISHES TALKING!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Marcus! I wasn’t done talking!!!”
This isn’t phrased like stern fatherly advice, but it does at least still have the sternness in the tone, so I guess it’s similar enough.
Spencer: “We’re not laughing at you. We’re just glad!”
Really? Because the way Spencer’s laugh was voice acted, it really sounded like he found something absolutely hilarious, rather than that he was just happy and relieved to hear proof that King Drasil exists.
I’m still not a great fan of Spencer’s raspy voice, by the way. I didn’t notice it as much in King Drasil’s lines because the computery filter helps cover that up, but now that the VA’s actually being Spencer again, I’m just, eh. He doesn’t have nearly as much of that sense of presence and determination that Masaru’s dad ought to have.
BanchouLeomon: “Don’t sneer at the humans!”
Craniummon: “What?”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Why do you insult humans?”
Craniamon: “Why not?”
Okay, so Craniummon was being a dick either way (he called Suguru a “lowly human” in both versions), but here in the dub he’s just being extra dickish about it, like he thinks insulting humans is fun or something.
BanchoLeomon: “Humans have the power of emotions inside them, something we Digimon lack.”
And then we Digimon feed off those emotions deliberately to power ourselves up, so it’s really not that much about the humans’ input anyway! No, I’m still not going to stop ragging on this change, ever.
BanchoLeomon: “When a Digimon combines itself with a human’s emotions, unlimited potential is born.”
Combines itself? That doesn’t sound too objectionable at a glance, but that’s really not quite the same idea as feeding off them, is it. This is one of those times the dubbers are just keeping the explanation the same as in the original and awkwardly hoping you don’t notice this isn’t actually how they established this to work in the dub.
BanchoLeomon: “BanchoLeomon Burst Mode engaging!”
Whoops, they had too much lip-flap for BanchoLeomon calling out his Burst Mode, so he had to awkwardly add in that extra word that’s not usually there.
Burst Mode music even for this short bit, by the way, wooo! Not that it lasts long.
King Drasil’s natural, non-Spencer voice is decidedly deep and masculine, as opposed to the androgynous one it had in the original. It has some kind of filter over it, which may or may not be the same filter that’s been over Spencer’s voice. Hard to tell. I do not know much about sound design.
BanchouLeomon: “But…! A disaster occurred at the worst timing!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon:  “I still remember the day Kurata attacked the Digital World! Sad…”
That “Sad…” at the end does not hit right and just comes off as kind of silly. Plus, this makes it sound like Spencer actually witnessed that massacre himself, but he shouldn’t have done; he should only be frustrated that it happened at the most inconvenient time. (This is actually the commercial break’s fault; the dub put one in between the end of the flashback of meeting Yggdrasil, and here, and so they put the line about the bad timing before the commercial break and added in this new one afterwards.)
Huh, they completely cut the brief recap clip of Frigimon being shot. Did they just not want to bother to go back and find their edit of the laser or something? Come on, guys, this is not the first time you’ve had to (attempt to) keep edits consistent in flashbacks of reused footage, it’s just lazy to remove it entirely.
Craniummon: “Yggdrasil has commanded us to wreak vengeance against the human world.”
~~~~~
Craniamon: “King Drasil has ordered your imprisonment while we retaliate against the humans for their unprovoked malicious attack.”
Craniamon mentions Spencer’s imprisonment, which the original didn’t feel the need to do, because one could already figure that out from watching him be thrown into what looks like a giant-tree version of a prison. Based on Craniamon’s phrasing, it also sounds a little bit more like they could be retaliating against just the humans who actually did the attack, and not disproportionately against every human in the human world?
Suguru:  “Please! Stop your attack! Humans and Digimon can appreciate one another! They can cultivate friendships!”
~~~~~
Spencer: “Please, don’t! It was one human acting alone! You can’t punish a whole race because of one madman! Humans and Digimon can live together in peace!”
You know, Spencer makes a good point that Suguru didn’t! But also, that does beg the question… how did he know that it was only Kurata, when he shouldn’t have been there to witness it? (Plus, Kurata wasn’t completely alone; it was all his plan and his idea, but he did have a lot of lackeys helping him.)
(I guess Craniamon’s line is still very much supposed to be implying they’re going for vengeance against the entire human race then, fair enough.)
Unfortunately, though changing Spencer’s line to include the part where it’s only one human is neat, the dub doesn’t follow up on it, and Craniamon’s response – that there could never be peace after how much the Digimon have been hurt by humans – is the same as in the original. He appears to be completely glossing over Spencer’s really very persuasive argument and focusing entirely on his last point about them living in peace. He even uses “they” to refer to the humans who did this, despite Spencer having told him it was just a single one.
Craniummon: “What?”
Suguru:  “BanchoLeomon!”
~~~~~
Craniamon: “Whose side are you on, BanchoLeomon?”
This is the response to BanchoLeomon’s (identical) line about hatred only breeding more hatred. Suguru’s reaction in the original implied he was kind of surprised and moved to hear his Digimon friend backing him up on this. Here, more emphasis is put on Craniamon feeling like he’s siding against Digimon.
Craniamon: “Your life?”
In the original, Craniummon’s delivery of this is surprised, taken aback that Suguru’s willing to put such big stakes on this. But in the dub, he sounds condescending about it. What is it with the dub voice acting of Craniamon just making him sound significantly more villainous in several of his lines.
Craniummon: “But…”
~~~~~
Craniamon: “It’s not up to me.”
Craniummon’s brief line here in the original almost implies that he doesn’t like the idea of Suguru – whom he must know is innocent in all this – putting his life on the line for something like this. In the dub, that’s not there, and instead he’s passing the buck of responsibility for this onto his King (which, to be fair, is also an in-character thing for Craniamon to do).
Yggdrasil:  “I shall trust your word.”
~~~~~
King Drasil:  “I will hold you to your promise, human.”
Not only is King Drasil being more implicitly threatening about this with that added “human”, this actually has a different meaning. Yggdrasil’s saying that it trusts Suguru’s insistence that this won’t happen again (though whether it actually trusts that is another matter). But what King Drasil’s saying is not that it necessarily believes that part, but rather, that it’s going to hold Spencer to his promise to be killed if he’s wrong. Like it’s expecting him to be proven wrong sooner or later.
That’s… you know, actually, I think I rather like that? That’s some on-point Yggdrasil characterisation the dub’s managed there, whether by luck or judgement (probably luck).
There really is a noticeable difference in the voices, though. Yggdrasil’s calm, androgynous voice makes it come across, at least on the surface, like a seemingly-benevolent, rational force that’s theoretically trustworthy. King Drasil’s deeper voice just… sounds evil. Which kind of defeats the purpose of having it be subtly manipulative about this, when every time it speaks it’s like there’s a neon sign pointing at it saying THIS IS A VILLAIN.
Spencer: “What? Merukimon?!”
Craniamon: “He’s gone.”
Not killed, though, of course not, can’t have that!
BanchouLeomon: “It’s true that I was the one, at that time, who put in a good word for you to Yggdrasil. But… A man must keep his promises!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Even though I vouched for you to King Drasil, you know deep down in your heart… that you must keep your word, as a man.”
BanchouLeomon’s “but” in the original line could read as a little weird, because his good word to Yggdrasil was specifically about the part where Suguru would keep his promise, so the two halves of his line aren’t actually contradictory enough to require a “but” between them. I think what he’s trying to say here, though, is “it’s true that it’s largely my fault that you’re in this position where you absolutely have to keep that promise, but, hey, you would absolutely have to keep that promise even if I hadn’t said anything, you know that, you’re a man.”
The dub version reads somewhat different, because there’s no “I was the one” in there, so it feels less about BanchoLeomon feeling somewhat guilty for putting his friend in this position. Instead, the only way to read it is that somewhat contradictory “even though I told King Drasil you’d keep your word, you must keep your word”, which… why is there an “even though” there.
It also just strikes me as weird that he’s only saying Spencer knows this “deep down in his heart”. Surely his manly principles would be closer to the surface than that?
But wait, oh no, no they aren’t, because this is the dub, and there’s no manliness in the dub. Except for suddenly right now, apparently! The Manliness Police were sleeping on the job again, it seems. Sure lessens the impact of Spencer’s manly promise to stake his life on this when he’s never showed any kind of investment in what a Man does for the entire rest of the time we’ve known him.
Suguru:  “A man doesn’t… go back on his word…”
~~~~~
Spencer:  “I know you’re right… But…”
And here, they go right back to watering down the manliness, because they don’t even have Spencer cite that concept while agonising about how he knows he should do this but doesn’t actually want to. I suppose the end result is that it comes across in the dub like BanchoLeomon is the one imposing this idea of manliness onto Spencer, who only sort of buys into it and not quite in those exact words.
Spencer: “Marcus… Marcus…! MARCUS!”
Okay, so I’ve moaned about Spencer’s voice actor a lot, but I did enjoy his delivery of this part, yes good.
Gallantmon:  “It is time to begin Spencer Damon’s execution.”
Wow, they actually called it an execution, I’m amazed the dub was willing to use that word. They didn’t in episode 30.
(I’m not… actually sure this is Gallantmon speaking based on my vague recollection of his voice in the two episodes he’s been in, but it’s Dukemon’s line in the original. If it isn’t Gallantmon’s voice here then it’s some other Royal Knight whom I can’t hope to recognise from one line, so whatever.)
Suguru:  “I don’t want to die.”
~~~~~
Spencer: “Please don’t.”
Because the dub isn’t allowed to use the word “die”, instead, Spencer is actively asking them not to do this. That’s not necessarily what Suguru was doing, even as he was spending his final moments admitting that this isn’t what he wanted.
Suguru:  “I want to make my son into a fine young man…”
~~~~~
Spencer:  “I wanna be able to mould my son into a fine young man…”
“Mould” is a slightly sinister way of phrasing it there, Spencer. Feels a bit… controlling, which should very much not be his intent.
Suguru:  “…so I can’t die until then.”
~~~~~
Spencer:  “I can’t leave this world until then!”
Again with the not being allowed to say “die”. This’d usually be an acceptable substitute, I guess, but it is a little awkward in the context of this story in which people have been hopping between two different “worlds” all the time. He means it in a rather different way to usual.
Craniummon: “You dare to make those words your last at your dying hour? If you’re a man, then don’t make such unsightly utterances!”
~~~~~
Craniamon: “You dare to use your last words for the purposes of begging? How can you call yourself a man?!”
He literally didn’t, though! It was only BanchoLeomon who ever did, in this version! Manliness Police, what are you doing.
They do keep this line consistent with the fact that Spencer was outright begging in the dub when he wasn’t in the original. Craniummon in the original nonetheless thought that Suguru spending his final moments openly full of fear and regret wasn’t very manly of him.
Dukemon:  “Do it!”
~~~~~
Gallantmon: “Execute him…”
Whichever Royal Knight said that in the dub had a really dark and vicious tone to his voice, wow. I am, again, gobsmacked that the dub is letting itself use this word and be this direct. (But, of course, Spencer’s still not allowed to say the word “die”, that’d be too much, right.)
(I am still not convinced that’s the Gallantmon voice from his previous two episodes. Then again, his voice was extremely generic back then, and it’s been like five episodes since he’s had lines, so perhaps his voice actor just completely forgot what voice he gave him.)
BanchouLeomon:  “I would merely like to, as his friend, send him personally to the other world.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon:  “My deep friendship with this man prevents me from allowing him to suffer his fate at the hands of the Royal Knights.”
That’s a really weird way of putting it? He’s making it sound like he’s physically incapable of letting the Royal Knights kill Spencer, rather than that he just wants to be the one to do it himself, as a friend.
(Okay, in defence of that earlier line about “leaving this world”, it seems the original did also use “other world” language to refer to dying here, too.)
The burst of energy out the other side of Spencer’s body as BanchoLeomon punches him is not edited out; I’m kind of surprised. What they do edit out is a sort of scorch mark on his front where the punch connected, and on his back once he’s collapsed. So the energy still went all the way through his body, but… it didn’t leave a mark, somehow.
Suguru was silent in the original, but Spencer is still groaning quietly as BanchoLeomon appeals to King Drasil to stop the attack again. Which is actually appropriate, since he’s dying but not quite dead yet!
King Drasil:  “To honour your friendship with the human, I will grant your request, BanchoLeomon.”
Yggdrasil didn’t say a word here, other than to glow in acknowledgement; this line is added in. I’m not sure how much we should be believing King Drasil’s claim that it was inspired by BanchoLeomon’s friendship with Spencer. I’m also not entirely sure whether or not the dubbers realise that King Drasil probably shouldn’t truly mean this. I think I prefer how Yggdrasil just left things at an ambiguous silence here.
BanchouLeomon: “That’s the only way to fool Yggdrasil’s eyes.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “It’s the only way we’ll be able to fool King Drasil.”
By not phrasing this as King Drasil’s “eyes”, aka those things it doesn’t have, there’s a bit less of an obvious problem here that he’s overlooking, heh.
BanchouLeomon:  “By uniting with me, you can also watch over your son, Masaru, in the shadows.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon:  “If you unite with me, you’ll be able to watch over Marcus as he grows, although you’ll only be watching from inside my heart.”
Uhh. Is the “from inside my heart” implying that Spencer was never in control of BanchoLeomon’s body this entire time? Because that sure sounds like what it’s implying. Except that’s literally contradicted by this very episode, in which BanchoLeomon in the present has had plenty of lines that are very clearly Spencer speaking. What the hell. That’s not what he meant by “in the shadows” in the original; presumably he just meant that it wouldn’t be obvious that it was Suguru.
The part about Marcus “growing” makes this sound more long-term, like BanchoLeomon’s hoping to let Spencer continue to participate in the Damons’ normal family life this way, rather than just help out with the Kurata stuff. The Damon family, now with a lion dad.
Marcus: “Then you… really are…? My dad…”
That last little “my dad” is so quiet and soft and awestruck and it’s pretty adorable, aaa.
Masaru:  “Why?! Why did you keep quiet about such an important thing until now? Dad!”
~~~~~
Marcus: “Hey! Why’d ya keep it a secret? Don’tcha think you shoulda told me about this sooner? I mean, really! Come on!”
Marcus sounds a lot more just annoyed about this, like his dad’s simply been kinda stupid, rather than feeling desperate and confused and hurt like Masaru was. Marcus, now is not the time for your more-of-a-jerk side to come through.
BanchouLeomon: “Yggdrasil always kept us under watch.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon:  “I had to hide it. If King Drasil found out I told you, I could never have returned to you again.”
This added line in the dub potentially goes some way towards presenting this situation more like the bribe it should have been, by stressing that it was about Spencer wanting to return to Marcus and get to be a family with him again. …Though, on the other hand, since the dub also just had that bonus implication that BanchoLeomon was willing to use his body to let Spencer be Lion Dad for the Damon family if it had to come to that, the fact that it was Spencer’s body on offer here shouldn’t matter so much.
My god, every single line of King Drasil’s in this voice just screams VILLAIN, I cannot get over this.
Yggdrasil: “You are both fools for thinking you could deceive a god.”
~~~~~
King Drasil: “Fools! Did you really think you could deceive an all-knowing being like myself?”
Ah yes, kings, those beings well-known to be omniscient. This is one of those instances in which King Drasil being referred to as a king rather than a god doesn’t quite work as well.
Yggdrasil:  “I have now taken this body hostage.”
~~~~~
King Drasil:  “As your punishment, I will now take this body as hostage.”
Okay, so, despite that earlier line that slightly helped to get across the idea that Spencer hid his identity because he wanted to be able to live a normal family life again, the dubbers evidently didn’t quite grasp that this should mean this was effectively a bribe on King Drasil’s part. Not only did they keep it calling the body a “hostage”, they laid it on even thicker by also calling this a “punishment”.
Yggdrasil:  “If you ever tell anyone about your true identities, or directly involve yourselves in battle, I shall destroy this body at once.”
~~~~~
King Drasil:  “If you ever tell anyone that you have Spencer Damon’s life force energy inside of you, then I will destroy this body forever.”
It’s pretty weird that they’re talking about “life force energy” in this context! In that earlier context, about how he wasn’t going to die so easily, it made some amount of sense that having twice as much of that would help. But here, we’re talking about Spencer’s consciousness. That’s… not the same thing as life force energy, surely? It’s not like Kurata was harvesting all of those murdered Digimon’s consciousnesses when he sucked up that yellow sparkly energy. They were already dead by then!
Also, quite an important oversight by the dub: King Drasil never orders them to not involve themselves directly in battle. Which means that, though Spencer was hiding his identity because of this threat/bribe, there’s absolutely no justification for why he wasn’t helping them fight in the dub. He was standing around on that building doing nothing when he could have been helping for literally no reason. Good job, dubbers!
King Drasil: “Until then, I will enjoy it for my own purposes.”
This is an entirely new sentiment to the dub, and we’re just about to get into what it apparently means by this. “Enjoy” is a very weird way for it to phrase this, though, given what this is actually about.
Gotsumon:  “Why… Why would Yggdrasil do that?”
Tohma:  “It’s a trial from God. Yggdrasil wanted to test them! It was all to determine whether or not we humans were a positive existence to the Digimon!”
~~~~~
Gotsumon: “But why? What need does King Drasil have for that body?”
Thomas:  “It was a test. He wanted to know if humans were worth saving. If King Drasil could see life through human eyes, then maybe he would change his mind. I guess he didn’t see enough.”
So this is not remotely what’s going on here in the original. Gotsumon’s “why” in the original was never even about why did it take this body, but rather why did it force BanchoLeomon and Suguru to not help. However, it seems the dubbers (potentially?) misinterpreted this completely and thought Gotsumon was asking about why the human body, and so they took a completely different angle on Thomas’s line.
Yoshino:  “That’s too selfish of him!”
Lalamon:  “That’s right! Does that mean he doesn’t care if masses of humans and Digimon get hurt in the process?!”
~~~~~
Yoshi:  “I think… his eyes are closed!”
Lalamon: “Yeah! He’s not living life as a human – he’s just living as a Digimon in a human body!”
Okay but King Drasil literally isn’t even supposed to be a Digimon in the first place, screeeeeee
Cough, ahem, that aside. Lalamon’s original line here made it clear that Gotsumon’s question was never about why the human body. Tohma was really talking about the “test” being whether humans except for Suguru were good enough to defend Digimon from Kurata, even though forcing Suguru to stay out of the fight would get more Digimon killed.
Lalamon’s line in the dub takes this in a completely different direction, significantly enough so that this might not even be the dub misinterpreting the original conversation? It’s possible that this was a conscious change, and somehow they decided that King Drasil needed more reason to take on a human body other than just to hold it hostage.
Except, as Lalamon points out here, it was a pretty pointless reason, given that it didn’t actually do anything human with that body to try and understand a human’s point of view. You’d think, if we’re really supposed to believe that it did this to give humanity a chance and try to understand them, it would have actually, you know, tried to understand them.
I suppose one could argue that this is that manipulativeness I’ve been talking about – that this is King Drasil going “look, see, I’m giving the humans a chance, I’m trying to see things through their eyes, and I still see that they’re not worth saving!” while not actually having really tried at all. But I’m not convinced that’s meant to be it, because I don’t trust the dub.
It’s also just weird that this pretty out-there approach of King Drasil’s is entirely explained by other characters, who are really just making a huge wild guess out of absolutely nowhere, yet we’re clearly supposed to think that they’ve got it right and this was indeed what it was doing. Based on that, I can’t help but think the dubbers also want us to assume they’re right about King Drasil having actually been serious about trying, rather than that we ought to be reading between the lines and taking Thomas’s assumption with a grain of salt.
Yggdrasil: “Exactly.”
~~~~~
King Drasil:  “I *have* seen enough!”
And yes, King Drasil certainly seems to be corroborating Thomas’s assumption that this was about it genuinely trying to see things through human eyes.
Yggdrasil: “You worthless humans… Even when you are confronted with this unprecedented crisis, not once have you reflected on the error of your ways. All you do is run around fretfully. Your actions are truly the height of stupidity.”
~~~~~
King Drasil: “You worthless humans. You’ve created chaos and violence throughout your history, never stopping to realise that you’re the very cause of your own troubles! I don’t need to live in a human’s body to realise that. That’s why… you must go.”
Yggdrasil’s angle here was still about the idea that it’s all of humanity who are totally responsible for the Digimon massacres, and so they’re all stupid and bad for not realising how terrible they are and that this current crisis is totally their fault. King Drasil, meanwhile, has suddenly started going on about how humans are violent and warlike in general, within their own world. While that may be slightly more of a valid point, it’s like, none of the Digital World’s business? It’s kind of weird that King Drasil has taken it upon itself to get rid of a species from a totally different world just because of that.
(At least the dub’s still very much leaning into the fact that King Drasil wanted humans gone anyway, destroyed barrier or no.)
Ikuto:  “There are plenty of people who are working hard to protect the worlds from this disaster!”
~~~~~
Keenan: “You wrong! There are many people working hard to end violence forever!”
Because King Drasil’s complaint about humans got completely changed, Keenan’s line defending them also has to be changed to something very silly. We get a brief shot of his parents working hard to fix the barrier here, but… that’s not “working to end violence forever”? What even? How would Keenan even know whether there’s any humans doing that, with his limited knowledge of the human world? And if there are, it sure isn’t his parents.
Oh hey, did you want to know that Falcomon has That Voice? Because he just said Keenan’s name in worry, almost his only line in the episode, and I was suddenly reminded that he has That Voice.
King Drasil: “Humans are unnecessary.”
This line is the same as in the original, but it feels different considering the difference to the big contemptuous speech about humans just now. Yggdrasil was going on about how they don’t understand anything, they just run around in a panic, they’re so stupid, which fits well with it thinking they’re pointless. You’d have thought, with King Drasil’s more vicious point about how humans are violent, it’d have something a bit more to say about why it wants them gone than just them being “unnecessary”.
Masaru:  “Like hell we’d accept that self-centred decision of yours!”
~~~~~
Marcus: “You’re only the ruler of the Digital World! We don’t follow your laws!”
Marcus kinda has a point here, that, violent or not, humans don’t deserve to be punished for that by the go – uh, ruler – of a completely different world!
I suppose that’s vaguely along the lines of Masaru’s original point of calling Yggdrasil self-centred, but I did like the particular Masaru-ness of that comment.
Agumon:  “You don’t know anything!”
Yggdrasil: “What?”
Agumon:  “I have fun being with Aniki! I like fighting strong guys and getting stronger myself! It’s exciting!”
~~~~~
Agumon: “Y’know… You’re not a King!”
King Drasil: “What did you say?!”
Agumon: “The King of Digimon would know what the other Digimon want! And I want Boss to live! I like humans! You’re not my King!”
I kinda like Agumon’s point here! It’s similar to that “shouldn’t get to call himself a god!” speech of Masaru’s from episode 40 (which the dub actually kept intact). King or god, they don’t necessarily have to understand what their subjects want – but still, to be a good one, they should.
I am a little sad that because of that we lose Agumon being a fighty dork and talking about how he enjoys fighting and getting stronger with his Aniki, which gets shortened to a much less distinctive “I like humans”.
Gaomon:  “Me, too! I am proud to be fighting alongside my master!”
~~~~~
Gaomon: “The King of Digimon should know that humans and Digimon fight best when they’re side by side!”
Gaomon in the dub makes this less personal to himself, not citing that he loves fighting with his mas – uhh, just Thomas I guess – which is less Dog of him.
Lalamon:  “Me too! I love my human partner Yoshi!”
Lalamon’s platonic I-love-you is kept, though! Aww.
Falcomon:  “I agree! Keenan is my closest friend!”
Oh wow, Falcomon’s voice was especially yikes in his line here. Apparently indignant insistence is not a tone that works well in that accent. He somehow managed to make this sound obnoxious.
King Drasil: “You speak treason!”
Uhh. I mean, I guess disagreeing with the King of Digimon might count as Digimon treason, if King Drasil decides it does?
Masaru:  “What should we do? What should we do to stop Yggdrasil? Dad!”
~~~~~
Marcus: “He’s too strong! Whadda we do now?!”
Though Marcus still looks to his dad, I miss the fact that Masaru actively called out to him to solve this situation like his bestest strongest dad obviously could.
BanchouLeomon/Suguru: “There will come a time in a man’s life when he must accomplish something at the risk of his life. Now is that time.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon/Spencer: “Comes a time… when a man must risk his life to keep a promise he made to his friends. Now’s that time.”
This… isn’t keeping a promise he made to his friends, though? What promise? When? What friends, even? His only friend he’s been with for the past ten years has been BanchoLeomon, mostly. And the only promise he might have made would have been to do with harmony between humans and Digimon, which is not what this sacrifice is about so much as just saving the human world. That whole part’s out of nowhere. In the original, this was just about how sometimes there are things that are important enough to risk dying for – it didn’t need to be more specific than that.
I guess we finally have Spencer himself citing manliness. Doesn’t really hit much when this is literally the first time he’s done so.
Masaru:  “Dad…!”
~~~~~
Marcus: “Dad, no…!”
Just pointing out some more lip-flap stuff, thanks to “Dad” being two syllables in Japanese.
BanchouLeomon: “You’re coming with me to the bottom of Hell.”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Consider your rule… overthrown!”
Yeah, I didn’t expect the dub to be willing to talk about Hell. I suppose this works fine as an alternate badass one-liner, though it’s a bit of a shame that it doesn’t contain Spencer implicitly admitting that he’s also going to die with this.
BanchouLeomon: “Now, Masaru! Destroy my body along with Yggdrasil!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon: “Now, Marcus! Use your DNA Charge! Destroy the two of us, now!”
It’s not really going to be Marcus’s DNA Charge doing this? I mean, technically, indirectly, but. Bit of a weird way to phrase it.
I suppose I shouldn’t complain about the “destroy” this time because the original also used that word, but to be fair, it flowed a little better in the original, since Suguru was talking about destroying his body, aka the vessel that Yggdrasil’s inhabiting. Here in the dub it’s just yet another find-and-replace for “kill”.
The BGM here is just some general tense dramatic music, nothing like Believer, and there’s no particular musical cue on the moment where Marcus has that shocked, negative-colours face in response to this, so that doesn’t have as much impact.
BanchouLeomon:  “Do it! You’re a man!”
Masaru:  “But…!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon:  “Do it! It’s the only way! You have to!”
Marcus: “But…!”
BanchoLeomon:  “No buts! DO IT!”
We can’t have the manliness here, so this loses a bit of nuance – Suguru invokes Masaru’s manliness because that ought to make him strong enough to do this, and should mean that he knows that sometimes you have to make awful sacrifices like this for the greater good. Instead we get Spencer kinda just… yelling at him a lot.
Masaru:  “Dad…!”
~~~~~
Marcus: “But, Dad…!”
More “Dad” lip-flap, I don’t know why I feel the need to highlight every single one of these, but I do.
YO, they’re actually using the Burst Mode music for this, even though it’s not literally Burst Mode? I appreciate that! It makes it feel extra-momentous, as it ought to.
Marcus’s delivery of his more subdued “DNA Charge… Overdrive!” is pretty good, too. There’s a kind of desperation in that last word that I enjoy a lot.
Yggdrasil: “Let go! You’ll die, too, if you stay like this!”
~~~~~
King Drasil: “Let go! Why would you possibly want to sacrifice yourself for a human?!”
Uhh, King Drasil? He literally is a human, half of him – the half that’s clearly in control right now. Get with the program, come on.
BanchouLeomon/Suguru: “When we revealed to them who we really were… We were already prepared for death!”
~~~~~
BanchoLeomon/Spencer: “You said if I ever told this secret, you would destroy Spencer’s body. We’re gonna make sure you keep your word.”
Kind of a badass way to frame that – like, maybe all of a sudden King Drasil might want to conveniently back out of that threat, now that it’s in danger. Whoops, too bad, they’re making it happen anyway.
Okay, I was going to comment on how the evolution BGM inevitably gives a completely different tone to this compared to the haunting Burst Mode piece in the original. But the dubbers clearly knew that, because it cuts out completely to silence and then a much sadder piece as Marcus has flashbacks to his time with his dad. It’s a bit weirdly abrupt, but then, that’s what you get when you insist on using the evolution BGM literally every single time somebody evolves, and it’s probably better than having the painful flashbacks over amped-up battle hype music.
The flashbacks also have the actual voiced lines, while they were silent in the original. Oh no, can’t have anybody moving their mouth but not speaking, not ever.
Masaru:  “Dad… Dad…!”
~~~~~
Marcus: “Oh, Dad… Please, no…”
More “Dad” lip-flap creativity, I enjoy this, Marcus’s voice acting is a good.
The evolution BGM fades back in as he finds the strength to have ShineGreymon attack, huh. There’s a part of the Burst Mode version that has a bunch of rising notes to increase tension which actually works quite well in conjunction with Spencer and BanchoLeomon’s final thanks and Marcus’s desperate scream.
Chika:  “Dad…”
~~~~~
Kristy: “Daddy…?”
Speaking of “Dad” lip-flap, I guess the simpler option works for Kristy, because she’s younger. It’s actually kinda cute that she’d think of him by that name in this moment when she’s somehow sensing him probably dying.
Hmm, okay, that Royal Knight who had some lines earlier in the episode definitely was Gallantmon, because his voice is similarly deep here. I’m not sure I remember it being quite that deep in his previous episodes, but I don’t know if that’s my memory being off or his voice actor forgetting how he voiced him before.
Falcomon:  “We defeated Yggdrasil…”
~~~~~
Falcomon:  “I don’t believe it… King Drasil has been… defeated…”
In the original, Falcomon was amazed and relieved, but in the dub, Falcomon somehow sounds like he’s devastated about this. As if he cared at all in any way about King Drasil, just because it’s the King of his world? Most Digimon weren’t even sure if it existed!
Overall differences
Overall the episode’s reasonably similar, but there’s a few things that stick out.
This episode casually establishes that Marcus’s age is sixteen, except that earlier episodes in the series already established that he was fourteen if you pieced things together. Meaning that Marcus is just simultaneously fourteen and sixteen throughout the series depending on which episode you use for reference. And so is Thomas, because all we hear about his age is that it’s the same as Marcus’s. Welp.
Spencer and BanchoLeomon’s meeting has a bit less of that bombastic over-the-top banchou dorkiness to it, because the dub is terrible at localising both manliness and the concept of a banchou. Manly principles are a pretty important notion in the original episode in general, with how Suguru stakes his life based on them and is conflicted at wanting to go against them for Masaru’s sake – meanwhile, most of the framing of this being about being a Man is lost in the dub. …Except for in a few lines where it suddenly randomly isn’t? Only, because there’s been almost no manliness anywhere else, for the entire series, those lines are just kind of out of nowhere and don’t hit as well.
The part near the end where they discuss Yggdrasil’s motives was changed (probably on purpose because it’s such a huge difference?) into this whole thing where King Drasil apparently took on Suguru’s body because it wanted to see things through human eyes. Based on the way it’s presented, it seems like we’re supposed to believe that King Drasil was serious and genuine about attempting this, which makes very little sense, because it did literally nothing while in that body that would actually help it to understand humans. It’s just bizarre and out of nowhere and did not need to be added.
King Drasil also goes on about how humans are violent and warlike within their own world, which should really be none of its business and have nothing to do with its reasons for wanting them gone. This leads to an utterly ridiculous line from Keenan about how some humans – implicitly, his parents – are working to “end violence forever”. What even.
For that matter, King Drasil’s own voice sounding different in the dub qualifies as a significant change. In the original, Yggdrasil’s voice was androgynous and sounded calm and theoretically reasonable, but King Drasil’s deeper masculine one just blatantly screams VILLAIN, which inescapably changes the effect of every line it has in that voice.
On nostalgia and a Good Ol Days fallacy in the Disney Parks:
Gonna put most of this under a cut since it’s a bit negative, but tldr: I really don’t want to only post nostalgia, and I appreciate modern Disney World just as much as its history, if not more sometimes!
I’m not trying to make anyone feel bad if they prefer the older parks or the nostalgia content - I’ll definitely still post about them, and they absolutely have their own unique vibe that’s different from the parks today.
I just take issue with any version of “Disney World used to be good, and then X happened!”, and here’s why:
I think a lot of people look back on the older days of Disney with rose colored glasses, either because they were a kid back then and couldn’t see the issues, or it’s coming from someone older who’s looking back with nostalgia goggles, or because they didn’t have any experiences with the older parks and only know about them through what gets filtered through online.
In all of these cases, the issues tend to get filtered out of your perspective. And when you look at the modern parks, and you actually can see what’s wrong with them, you compare your nostalgia version to that version and think hey! They used to be good, why aren’t they like that now?
But the Disney parks were never free from plenty of problems, often induced by the fact they’re run by a huge corporation (which has been powerful since the inception of the parks - even the fact that Disneyland was able to be built at all and got attended at the level it was when it opened showcases this. Disney has always been big).
One of the best examples, I feel, is that a lot of people complain about Disney making so many IP based attractions and lands - when they forget the myriad of sponsorship deals Disney had from the very beginning. They were plastered all over the parks. Disney World had at least two attractions that were both completely free and also literally just advertisements for corporations, one of which was the Monsanto corporation, which made Agent Orange in the Vietnam war. And if you can believe it, that information did not immediately end the incredibly Monsanto-friendly attraction at Disney World.
There was a huge McDonald’s partnership that put McDonald’s food in every corner of the park and plastered Dinosaur (then Countdown to Extinction) with ads outside of its queue. A Delta airlines advertisement ride existed into the 90s. Ellen’s Energy Adventure was originally sponsored by ExxonMobil, the oil corporation, from 1982 all the way to 2004.
The parks have absolutely never been free from corporate touches, and frankly, I am glad we have Star Wars Land and Cosmic Rewind instead of Monsanto and ExxonMobil advertising to us. (I will point out there’s still at least one sponsored attraction in the park - Test Track is basically a Chevrolet advertisement, but that’s just one compared to multiple back in the day.)
I could go on, but the point is this: people remember the good things. People remember what they loved, what made them a fan in the first place, and they don’t remember the mistakes, or they don’t even know about them in the first place.
I’m not here to argue that the parks don’t have new and different issues, because they absolutely do, and I could spend forever listing them. I am arguing that the parks never had some kind of mythical golden age that we just need to go back to in order for the parks to be good again.
I would rather this blog not support that idea. I want to show people the amazing parts of the modern parks - the phenomenal ride tech, the insane theming, the fun modern attractions and merch. I love Walt Disney World in all its forms, and while I will criticize it where necessary, I won’t pretend there was ever a time when they weren’t plagued with problems top to bottom.
Hello. How are you? If you have free time, could you do a reading for me,pls. F or JL which one will get in contact with me and offter me a partnership to creat a creative project and sigh a contract with me? And how would this affact my life? Initial:ha, she/her. D: your preference.
Good evening (here), HA! I have some bad news for you: I can't see the future. I can do most likely outcomes, but I am a firm believer in the fluidity of the future based on individual actions and choices. As for the deck, I will be using the Star Spinner Tarot for this reading!
As a rule, tarot is NOT meant for questions that start with "when" or "if" - it's built for actionable questions, putting the results in your hands. If you're looking for a yes/no divination method, I recommend checking out pendulum readers. I know several in the Coven of Cards (linked at the bottom of this answer) who may help.
If you're looking for something more definitive, do a follow-up with either F or JL without divination. Companies tend to enjoy it when people seem interested in what they do (although I don't know if either F or JL are companies from the given knowledge).
I will also be using dividers that I made over on @jasper-graphics to help break up this reading for ease of, well, reading!
Tumblr media
Question 1: What's the most likely outcome of F contacting HA to begin a creative project and/or sign a contract? Answer 1: XXI The World reversed
In an effort to have everything you want, you have spread yourself too thin and failed to see goals through to completion. You may remain within the confines of your comfort zones to protect yourself from the wider world, stifling your capacity to reach your full potential.
Two words: Crunch time. Creative projects with or overseen by F may have you on definitive deadlines, which tend to be very, very soul-sucking. This can be managed and handled with enough business savvy, like not accepting more work than you're being paid for. Especially not if your boss tries to set it up like you're friends with said boss and "it's what friends do". Don't fall for that sort of scam.
Tumblr media
Question 2: What's the most likely outcome of JL contacting HA to begin a creative project and/or sign a contract? Answer 2: 9 of Swords upright
The Nine of Swords calls attention to your deepest fears and your recurring nightmares. Everything feels pointless. Even though you have all but given up, you continue to fret and worry over everything. This might be a sign that there is still some fight left in you, but for the moment there is little to be done. You are overwhelmed with a looming sense of regret. You must find and confront those things that haunt you.
This option isn't any better than the first. At this time, the most likely outcome of working with or for JL is just...endless sucking. Unpaid overtime (or worse, comp time!) may be demanded, you may have to work at home beyond the promised scope, and keeping up with the demands of everything may burn you into the dirt. Like the first option, this can be managed and handled with enough business savvy, like not accepting more work than you're being paid for.
Tumblr media
Wow, the tarot really came out and said "neither of these are good options for you" based on what little information I have for your situation. Perhaps you should study up and get a refresher on how to make sure you aren't taken advantage of by your potential bosses or business partners, juuuust in case.
This is one reading where I genuinely hope that I'm wrong, if only for your sake, HA. Just be safe and careful out there. I wish you the best going forward!
Leave feedback as another ask that I can publish publicly and tell me what parts felt right, if anything felt off, stuff like that. Until you do, you will be added to my greylist. Please reblog my reading guidelines and consider joining the Coven of Cards Discord server to get information about more in-depth readings by me and other folks (including the aforementioned pendulum readers).
