My last two Worm posts have been downers so let’s answer one of the most crucial (to me) characterization questions ever: what is each Traveler’s favorite Radiohead album?
Noelle: The Traveler most likely to listen to Radiohead for real, in canon. Noelle came across an album called OK Computer one day and was like “I mean I like computers” and was greeted with the most anxious, dissociative and lush nerd music of all time. She was then immediately hooked. OK Computer is still Noelle’s favorite. Paranoid Android literally happened to her. So did all those car crashes Thom Yorke sings about although that’s maybe a bit more metaphorical. Her one bad Radiohead opinion is that she skips Electioneering when she’s listening to the CD in the car.
Krouse: Started listening to Radiohead when he found out Noelle liked them; has only heard OK Computer and Kid A but pretends to know their entire discography. Thinks Kid A is the best Radiohead album because that’s the critically accepted Correct Opinion and he knows more about [insert topic here] than you do. Krouse can quote Kid A’s Pitchfork review from memory.
Marissa: Noelle didn’t show Krouse Radiohead on purpose because she was worried he’d make a joke about the band being cliche. She did show them to Marissa. Marissa does not like Radiohead. Whenever Noelle listens to Radiohead in the car she gets a little bummed out on Noelle’s behalf, but hey, whatever makes her happy. In Rainbows is their least worst album but like. Why does that guy sing like that don’t you want to listen to Paramore instead Noelle.
Jess: As the Traveler with the best taste by, like, a mile, Jess likes In Rainbows for real. She thinks the pay-what-you-want release was a cool and revolutionary thing for bands to do in the ~internet age~ and thinks the songs whip too. She will encourage you not to forget In Rainbows Disk 2. Krouse has no idea that In Rainbows Disk 2 exists and thinks that Jess is fucking with him every time she brings it up (she is).
Luke: Luke can name a couple of 90’s-era Radiohead singles and doesn’t mind jokingly singing Creep at karaoke. In a pre-Simurgh fit of being Down Bad For Noelle, Krouse informed him that Pablo Honey is bad so he says his favorite is The Bends, as instructed by Krouse, if anyone asks. Will then quickly switch the topic of conversation to Green Day.
Oliver: Went on a parallel journey to Krouse in which he found out about Radiohead through Noelle and decided to listen to them because he thinks Noelle is cool. The big differences between Oliver and Krouse are (1) he has listened to OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows; and (2) he likes Kid A for non-stupid reasons. This is a person who would genuinely like to learn How To Disappear Completely.
Cody: Creep speaks to him. It’s also the only Radiohead song he’s ever heard. Pablo Honey.

The Future Silva Family Part 4
I now present to you the final group of next gen ocs belonging to House Silva. These are the children of Asta and Noelle Silva: Aimee, Naru, and Filomina.
……….
Aimee Silva
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her name comes from the French word “aimé” meaning “beloved.” The pronunciation is twisted a little to be “eye-mee” to include the Japanese word for “love,” that being “ai/愛.” It's an ode to Asta's time in Hino.
Age: 11
Birthday: October 6
Magic Attribute: N/A. Uses anti-magic.
Appearance: Aimee has pure silver hair just like her mother Noelle. She decides to grow it out because her mom's hair looks pretty long but she chooses not to style it up. She likes the freedom of loose hair. Her eyes are green just like her father's.
Personality: Aimee is a friendly, optimistic, and honest girl. Noelle and Asta have inspired her greatly. Aimee greets everyone with a smile and she also throws in a hug for people she really likes, such as Yami and Nero. Aimee is the type of person who can easily see the strengths of others and praise them for those abilities. She knows she’s at a disadvantage without magic but she believes she’ll find the strength to overcome challenges. Her parents did it and so can she. Aimee on the adventurous side too, so when she first visited Elysia and met Elfrieda, they immediately clicked. Aimee’s biggest flaw is that’s she’s ditsy, not knowing when honesty becomes bluntness and she can be overly casual with the wrong people.
She's close friends with Elfrieda and Jesse. Aimee and her cousin Eirlys are surprisingly close despite their very different personalities. Ann is someone Aimee looks up to for her strength and courage. She's friendly with Miku (@lyranova's oc) and is acquainted with Eleonora (@thoughtfullyrainynightmare's oc).
Aimee faces a lot of judgement from the more stuck up members of noble society. She’s the first person born into Clover royalty to lack any magic whatsoever. Noelle faced criticism for her poor control but at least she has magic. Nobles with an especially strong distaste for the lower classes blame Asta for creating a “defective” royal and think poorly of Aimee. Her older cousins were protective of her early on but eased up on her as Aimee showed that she didn’t need coddling.
When she was 9, Asta and Liebe gave Aimee a dagger infused with anti-magic so she could start learning to fight. Noelle was a little concerned by this but eventually went along with it. Noelle made Aimee promise a thousand times not to take the dagger in public however.
Aimee becomes a Magic Knight in the future, belonging to the Blue Rose Knights.
Naru Silva
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Naru’s name is is an alternative reading for the character 愛 meaning “love.” Again, he was named in honor of Asta's time spent in Hino.
Age: 9
Birthday: February 19
Magic Attribute: Water.
Appearance: Naru's hair is a shade of grey between his mother's silver and his father's ash blond shades, it doesn't have the same metallic shine as Noelle or Aimee's hair. In his youth, his hair naturally spiked like Asta's but it flattened out as he grew up, to his disappointment. His eyes are a deep, ocean blue.
Personality: Naru has a natural talent with magic, which Noelle is quite relieved by. Naru is definitely closer to Noelle than Asta because of their shared magic. But Naru gets his wild energy from Asta and the father-son duo often go out camping or other adventures. He's also the curious kind of kid. He loves trying new things with his magic and is honestly bummed out by the fact that he doesn't have his grimoire yet because it means there's more he could do. Naru is also prone to asking a lot of questions. "Hey why do people wait until 15 to get their grimoires?" "Where did Lord Vangeance get his funny mask?" And he tends to just keep asking questions until he can't think of anything new to ask. Naru likes to play around too, usually re-enacting the stories he hears from books or his parents' youth. Can be prideful in his skill and reckless when trying new things. It keeps his rivalry with Ferro strong as Ferro challenges Naru and Naru wants to prove he's still getting stronger.
Naru's closest friends are Alfred and Jesse. He'd form a friendly rivalry with Kito (@lyranova's oc) and a less friendly rivalry with Ferro.
Despite using Water Magic, Naru sinks like a rock in water. He is a terrible swimmer and nothing except magic will change that. He's tried swimming lessons but he just can't do it.
Frequently trains with his cousin Aecor because they share an attribute.
Naru eventually joins the Black Bulls once he's old enough for the Knights.
Filomina Silva
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Filomina’s name comes from Greek. It can either mean “friend of strength” or “beloved one.”
Age: 7
Birthday: July 13
Magic Attribute: Ice.
Appearance: Filomina has ash blond hair just like her father though it has the softer, silkier texture of her mother's hair. From a young age, she takes to wearing her hair in pigtails though she wears them higher than Noelle did in her youth. Her eyes are (supposed to be, darn you picrew) a pinkish-purple hue, leaning closer to her mother's eye color.
Personality: Filomina is as sweet and cheerful as a child can be, and she loved everyone in her family. She's excited to see what the world has to offer each day. She's highly energetic but surprisingly polite. She won't barge into a room but she will probably dent a door with her knocking. She doesn't say "please" and "thanks" but shouts those words from across a hallway. Hardly a mean bone in her body, save for the moments when she tugs on someone's clothes or hair to grab their attention. Her thought process is that people love her so it doesn't make sense for her to not love people in return. She's surprisingly empathetic towards others, she can often tell with a glance if a person is troubled and whether or not it'd be a good idea to approach them. Asta hasn't taught her ki reading and chalks it up to Filomina being naturally in tune with people. Very clingy to anyone willing to give her attention even for a moment (she is still very young after all).
Filomina is pretty much the favorite of everyone in House Silva. Her parents and siblings dote on her so much. Her aunts and uncles are unable to resist when she asks something from them. Her cousin Ferro proudly said he'd be her teacher since they have the same attribute. Even Skylar would tone down his chaos and Chalivas would stop being such a stick in the mud when spending time with Filomina.
Filomina is would be very close to Kya (@lyranova's oc). She's basically considers everyone she's met her friend too. She's fond of creative people like Cynthia and Dawn's kindness is also a big inspiration to her.
Filomina (and her siblings) has met Kahono and Kiato. The two of them actually inspired Filomina's dream to become an idol. Once a year, Filomina spends a whole week with Kahono in Raquey to have singing lessons and generally learn how to be an idol.
Filomina once turned down a marriage proposal from Alfred. She told him that it's against to law to marry your best friend's sibling and since Alfred doesn't know laws well, he bought it.

"Come on Susie, I know you can do it!" Noelle encouraged as she watched her friend play a game called 'Brawlhalla' with a few of her other friends.
The game looked like a combination between Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom. There were five fighters per team and players could choose three characters per match. The main goal was to knock your opponents off the stage using a variety of moves including punches, kicks, throws and special attacks such as fireballs and lightning strikes. The fighting was all done by pressing buttons in certain combinations. In the center of the screen was a health bar which would decrease if you were hit. Once it reached zero, the player lost the match and the round ended.
"I'm trying my best," Susie grumbled, not wanting to admit that she was losing to everyone else.
"You're doing great! Just keep going!" Noelle cheered, jumping up and down in excitement. "Don't give up now!"
Susie gave her friend a dirty look before looking back down at the screen and mashing her controller in frustration. After a minute of no progress, she stopped and sighed heavily.
"I don't understand why I suck so bad..." She muttered angrily under her breath.
Noelle looked at her friend curiously. "What did you just say?"
Susie turned away from her friend, keeping her eyes focused on the TV. "Nothing."
"Yeah right," Noelle smirked, turning her attention back to the screen. "I heard you."
Susie glared at her again. "Go ahead, make fun of me."
Noelle shook her head. "I'm not making fun of you. It's just...you've been pretty bummed since we started coming here today. Is everything ok? You seem really sad lately."
Susie shrugged. "I guess."
"Are you sure?"
Susie nodded reluctantly.
"Well, if anything is bothering you, please tell me. I won't judge you."
Susie bit her lip. "It's nothing you'd understand anyway."
"Oh, come on! If anyone is qualified to understand what you are going through, it's me!" Noelle protested.
Susie huffed, rolling her eyes. "Whatever."
"Ok then," Noelle replied, grinning. "If you want, we could go hangout somewhere else where you feel more comfortable. Maybe we can get some food and watch a movie or something?"
Susie thought about it for a moment. "I dunno. Why don't we try it one more time?"
Noelle nodded, smiling encouragingly.
They played another round of 'Brawlhalla', and once again Susie didn't fare well. After losing yet another fight, she let out a defeated sigh and slumped into her seat.
"Ugh. What am I doing wrong?" Susie groaned. "This is impossible."
Noelle looked at her friend sadly. "Maybe you should take a break for awhile."
Susie glanced up at her friend with an annoyed expression. "No way. We haven't even gotten halfway through the day yet."
"But maybe you shouldn't push yourself too hard," Noelle said gently.
Susie narrowed her eyes. "Like I care. Who cares about the rest of the day. As long as I finish all my homework, that's all that matters."
Noelle frowned. "That's not true. Your health is important. You need to pay attention to your body and treat it kindly."
Susie rolled her eyes. "How do you even know what I'm feeling? I think you're just making stuff up because you want to be nice."
Noelle smiled sweetly. "Because that's what good friends do. They listen and support each other no matter how weird their other friends might think they are."
Susie laughed sarcastically. "Yeah, right. Good luck with that. I'm not interested in listening to your crazy stories of unicorns and mermaids."
"Hey, it's not a crazy story. Mermaids exist!"
"Not around here they don't," Susie snorted. "And besides, who wants to spend time with a bunch of annoying fairies anyway? They're all high-strung and full of themselves, and-"
"Susie! Shut up!" Noelle interrupted her friend, her voice laced with irritation.
Susie fell silent.
"Why do you hate me so much?" Noelle asked, her voice wavering with emotion.
Susie blinked in surprise. "Uh, what? I don't hate you."
"Then why do you act like you do?"
Susie looked away from her, her face turning red.
"Please, tell me why. Tell me what I did to make you dislike me so much. I don't want to be mean, but I have a right to know. Don't you agree?"
Susie stared at her blankly, her mouth opening and closing without words.
"I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, Susie. But please, tell me why you hate me so much. I want to change and fix whatever it is that makes you uncomfortable around me. Please, just tell me."
Susie's thoughts went dark and cold. Her cheeks flushed with anger and embarrassment. For a few seconds she remained quiet, her gaze locked on the TV screen. Noelle's doing it again, she thought bitterly. Telling people what she thinks they want to hear. Pretending to be the perfect little angel. Trying to be everyone's best friend. But in reality, she's only pretending to be kind and friendly. It's all fake and superficial. And it's driving me insane!
"You don't understand anything," Susie hissed. "Nothing about this world or what's really going on in it."
She stood from the couch, pushing past Noelle. Without saying anything she left the room, slamming the door behind her. Noelle sat there, dumbstruck. She didn't know what to say or do. The whole thing was so strange; she couldn't wrap her mind around it. It felt like there was a hole inside her heart that she didn't know how to fill. She had never seen Susie like this before, and the fact that she wasn't sure what caused it made it even harder to deal with. She wanted to be there for her friend, but at the same time she wanted to run away and hide because she didn't know how to handle it. She wished she had someone to talk to who would help her sort things out and give her advice. Someone who wouldn't judge her or call her stupid for getting upset over Susie's attitude toward her. She sighed deeply as she got off the sofa. She decided to go for a walk to clear her head. Maybe that would help her figure out the problem better than sitting at home and thinking about it. She put her game controller down on the table and headed for the door. { TYPE: Long-form story * M2 }

I am. So very worried for when we meet Susie’s parents.
Like. Insanely worried.
It’s clear that she 1. Doesn’t have a good relationship with them, 2. Likely isn’t living with them, and 3. Is probably homeless. Honestly from the way she reacts to Toriel, I got the vibe of like. A military brat?? Like a parent who was a super hardass about things with an almost military personality, slapping wrists until she “Yes ma’am” “Yes sir” kinda thing
She just kind of bums around town. When she’s told to call her parents for the night she just doesn’t - probably figuring (rightly) that they just won’t care where she is for the night. The only place feasibly she could live is the apartments on the east side? Which I guess is possible. She really doesn’t have much of a relationship with anyone, I honestly thought she was newer in town until Noelle mentioned the pencil, but even so... she feels isolated.
Kris, in contrast, is known by EEEEVERYONE in town. Every single person knows and likes (to our face) Kris. Possibly because they’re the only human so it’s something of a spectacle which, sure, I get. But... no one knows Susie. Sure she avoids Alphys in public to skirt trouble, and yeah the kids know her as a bully like when she scares them at the bunker, but...
Undyne, for instance. The police chief of Hometown. Sure it could be a funny way of phrasing it but she mentions to “Keep an eye out for any purple girls” since “there’s one wanted on several accounts of comic mischief”. If she was as familiar with Susie as she was Kris, why not be like “Hey tell your classmate to calm down”?
Susie feels new to Hometown. Her reputation is one of a bully and a mean-spirited kid, the (obvious, after chapter 1) facade she puts on at school but... why? Why pretend to be mean? Why not just like other kids and be nice to them?
She has had it rough at home. She’s had that respect for elders - especially parents - probably beat into her! She mentions on MULTIPLE occasions how nice Kris’s mom is, either from firsthand experience or just because... she’s seen her around. How she hugs her kid. How she holds their hand on the way into school. Drives them places, probably packs their lunch, cooks pie with them.
The way that Toriel treats Susie, teaching her to cook and palling around with her over dinner, is so painfully foreign to Susie and it is so fucking sad to see that. (Spoilers for the end of chapter 2) but the fact that we’re going to see Toriel so much in chapter 3, and she’s going to interact so much more with Susie, is going to be... so, so depressing when we finally meet Susie’s parents.
Honestly, it’s probably one of the reasons she was so hurt at the end of chapter 1, watching the King threaten to bring harm to his son.
It probably wasn’t the first time she’d dealt with that.

Picking Up His Drunk GF (HCs)
Yami Sukehiro edition!
A/N: anything with the Black Bulls is so funny to write 😭 btw i also have a william and fuegoleon edition in the works hehe anyway ENJOY
Warnings: some curses
Tumblr media
✧ You and Yami are like an alcohol-loving couple. He always kept a supply of various kinds of liquor, beer, wine so you both had something to drink whenever you came over at the base. You name it he has it. Vanessa of course was the happiest
✧ TEQUILA FOR BREAKFAST MFERS
✧ By the time Asta and Noelle joined the Black Bulls, things got busier for Yami. And he needed to atleast act like a responsible Captain. Which you were super happy about because his bum and jobless era was finally over. You were happy for the whole of Black Bulls tbh they were getting recognition left and right yes DESERVE
✧ You visited the Bulls from time to time but you also made good friends inside your own squad which became the people you mostly went out with. You and your newly formed clique would go out to drink at random days of the week without any proper occasion
✧ Work stressful lately? Drink. Work not stressful lately? Drink. Friday night? Drink. Random tuesday night? Drink
✧ Every so often you would get drunk and of course by habit you would call up Yami to come pick you up
✧ But instead of coming himself, he would ask threaten his squad members to come pick you up instead because this mfer is ALWAYS busy pooping. He’s in that damn restroom for 12 hours a day
✧ The usual roster of Bulls who came to pick you up were:
✧ Finral because he’s “the wheels”
✧ Vanessa and Noelle, women to reason with you because the men in this squad are pretty useless at that
✧ Asta is there to yell
✧ Magna and Luck because... idk they’re just there to make more ruckus
✧ That was the routine: you getting drunk, Black Bull members pick you up after
✧ Today tho you drank on your own because for some odd reason you were feeling The Big Sad
✧ Probably missing Yami but whatever
✧ When the Bulls came to pick you up, you were being extremely difficult, not wanting to leave unless Yami picked you up himself
✧ “CAPTAIN YAMI IS POOPING HE’LL KILL ME WITH JUST ONE HAND IF I DISTURB HIM, HE’LL ALSO KILL ME IF YOU DONT COME WITH US I DONT WANT TO DIE” Asta pleaded
✧ POOR KID
✧ “What is his butthole, a fucking machine?! He has time for the toilet bowl but not for me?!?!” you slurred
✧ “Y/N-PAISEN PLEASE DON’T BE JEALOUS OF A TOILET BOWL”
✧ You took him by the collar ready to throw hands. “I’m not. I’m just saying your dumbass of a Captain needs to get his priorities straight.”
✧ Peace loving Finral pried Asta away from your hold. “Let’s not resort to violence please,” then he laughed nervously
✧ “Come on, Y/N. If you come with us, we’ll let you get 1 free pass to punch Captain Yami~” Vanessa tried to bargain
✧ “WHAT? DIDNT I JUST SAY—“
✧ “Hmm...” Luck interjected. “What if we just electrocute her so she’ll be unconscious and easier to carry?”
✧ “Or maybe whack her with Asta’s sword?” Magna added
✧ “WHY ARE YOU ALL SO VIOLENT?!” Peace keeper Finral at it again
✧ While the other Bulls were being dumb and chaotic, our smart cookie Noelle over here was trying to get to the bottom of what was going on with you.
✧ “Did you guys... fight?” Noelle asked
✧ It’s like she hit a bullseye
✧ Finally, someone who uses their brain in this squad for once
✧ “Yeah, we wouldn’t have if he wasn’t such a blockhead!”
✧ “WHAT DID CAPTAIN YAMI DO” Asta asked
✧ “Be the blockhead that he is THAT’S WHAT”
✧ “No wonder Captain Yami’s more pissy than usual.” Noelle said. “EHHH?! How can you even tell the difference?!” Magna exclaimed
✧ You scoffed. “Oh so he has the nerve to be pissed off when he’s the one who forgot our anniversary?!”
✧ All the Black Bull members had a look of “Ohhhhh” on their faces
✧ “He has the nerve to ignore me while I ignore him yeah somebody has to tell him IT DOESNT WORK THAT WAY”
✧ The members were just scratching their head and facepalming at their captain
✧ “So yeah, he better get his ass over here.”
✧ The members realized that this is a code red kind of situation so Finral and Asta went back to the base to fetch the captain while the others kept you company
✧ After a short while Yami came out of a portal and he looked frantic as hell
✧ “Babe, I’m sorry! It totally slipp—“
✧ “YOU...”
✧ You stood up and pointed a fork at him
✧ “We barely see each other yet you still forget the ONE time we were supposed to meet? And mind you, it’s a special occasion too!”
✧ He just stood there scratching his head. He knows he messed up big time
✧ “WHAT YAMI? Are you just gonna stand there or am I going to strangle you?”
✧ The other Black Bull members were pretty terrified of you
✧ “Y/N-PAISEN IS VIOLENT WHEN SHE’S DRUNK”
✧ He sighed. “All right you dumbasses step out for a couple of minutes. We’ll just sort things out.”
✧ Both of you sat down. You stayed silent and waited for Yami to explain himself.
✧ “Well, I don’t really have a good reason for forgetting,” he continued scratching his head
✧ You closed your eyes. You just wanted to punch this man
✧ “But, I promise to make it up to you. Tomorrow. We can still celebrate tomorrow. I’ll take you out to a nice dinner.” he grinned widely
You looked at him quite unimpressed. Yami frowned. “Come on babe! That’s FREE dinner for you!”
✧ You were starting to get a headache from all that drinking you did. “Yeah, okay, sure.” you said while rubbing your temples. “Your forgiveness would depend on where you’ll take me though.”
✧ Yami just scoffed playfully. He took notice of your headache and gently placed a hand on top of your head
✧ “Oi I don’t want you drinking on your own ever again.”
✧ “It’s your fault I even did in the first place!” you yelled as you punched him lightly in the arm
✧ He barely felt that btw
✧ He stood up and picked you from your seat bridal style. “Come on, let’s go back to the base. I’ll take care of you for the rest of the evening.” he said as he kissed your forehead
✧ “I can walk you know.” Yami was shameless and you were embarrassed by the whole ordeal
“Where’s the fun in that? We look more like a couple this way,”
✧ When you reached the base he laid you down on his bed and fluffed your pillows just how you like them. You smiled at the gesture. He might be questionable as a person but he always paid attention to your likes and dislikes
✧ Yami as a lover: 💯
✧ He got you a glass of water and some painkillers. He also got you a fluffy blanket. After tucking you in, he gently laid beside you and wrapped his muscular arms around you
✧ You giggled. “You must love me so much to get all those on your own without slaving your members around for it,”
✧ “Yeah, I mean you’re the only one who can come between me and restroom time.”
✧ You groaned. “God, I absolutely cannot stand you!”
✧ He chuckled and wrapped his legs around you like you were a bolster pillow. He peppered your face with kisses. “I know you can’t resist me, babe.”
✧ “What do you think? I managed to stay with you for a year!”
✧ “And more years to come, I’ll make sure of that.” Yami said as he placed his forehead on yours.
✧ You smiled and kissed him deeply. “I love you dumb dumb. Happy 1 year to us,” you mumbled sleepily
✧ “I love you too. Now get some rest, I’ll be here when you wake up I promise,” he kissed your forehead one last time before drifting off to sleep.

Also yeah, some of my thoughts about second chapter of Deltarune because why not :D under the cut to not take too much space
It was SOOOOO FUN! So much better than the first one: so much more charming, funny, immersive. Also It felt definitely much longer, dunno how true that is but I’m not complaining.
These three robo dudes were so fun, and the dance fight was so adorable! Kinda bummer they got a bit overshadowed by the ton of stuff that was still happening after but I felt need to point it out because I was literally awwing and just nodding to the beat of music, so fun!
ugh so many adorable scenes I don’t think I can mention them all
but
The MUSIC! Omg. Like the rest of the game - just so fun and charming. And a lot of bangers too
Characters and their relationships were so much better this time too!
Speaking of which, I’m kinda questioning Toby’s decission to make the first chapter the less fun one. That a lot characters are not likeable from the start, they just get some redemption along the way or at the ending. Like, total opposite of chapter 2: there wasn’t a single character I didn’t like and a lot of them were so unbelievably entertaining - just like in Undertale.
So that understandably bummed me out in chapter 1 where like I said - I hated Susie, I didn’t like Ralsei very much. Now in chapter 2 it went complete 180 and felt more like like the vibe I know from this creator
So I don’t understand why he didn’t go with this also for the first chapter - and It definitely feels more like a choice than a slip up? I just know he’s good enough writer to be aware of what he’s doing. So I don’t understand this decission.
Noelle? Man, Noelle was so adorbs at the beginning but by the ending she was so damn annoying with acknowleding only Susie like, ever. Like, girl, I don’t care If you’re crushing, just straight up rude so it got a wtf and then constant eyerolls from me. Shame.
Also wanted to point out that whole Noelle/Queen plot felt a bit like The Snow Queen? :D I wonder If anyone else got these vibes. And Berdly was such a nice addition to it hahah! I liked his arc too.
The Queen was such a perfect villain. Hands down. Such an entertaining persona. The final battle was so fun tho it took me a few times hahah!
Oh yeah, and the Spamton. Oh, Spamton. Spamton NEO battle was the MOST fun I’ve had in both Undertale and Deltarune! The combat gameplay design got to truly shine there. Hats off! Will definitely want to do that again just for funsies.

Finding - Chapter 2
I'm alive! I apologise profusely for the wait. Should you need a refresher on the chapter before you can find it on my masterlist.
CW: Food Rating: G Please let me know if you feel I have missed any warnings or need to increase the rating. Also, I did lots of research for this, but if you see any errors please do let me know and I will rectify as quickly as I can.
This is a Sweater Weather AU! Sweater weather belongs to the wonderful @lumosinlove and you should definitely go read it if for some unfathomable reason you haven't already.
So, I wrote this chapter over and over and over again, unable to stop it sounding boring and disjointed. Then I realised when I write Christmas fics, I assume my audience knows the terminology and traditions surrounding Christmas - I don't spend a paragraph explaining every little thing. Now, this fic by it's very nature has lots of explanation because it's O'Knutzy/Shay's first Seder attendance, however I cut out a lot of things that didn't fit in naturally so this fic comes with some homework! I'm going to link a couple of the sites I used in my research and also, you can enjoy listening to Sammy Spider's First Passover if you so wish (Read the fic and you'll understand why I included it!)
https://www.myjewishlearning.com/category/celebrate/passover/ - My Jewish learning has a plethora of articles on every aspect of Passover you could possibly have questions about, including lots of 101 articles.
https://www.haggadot.com/ - This is a site that is designed so that you can make a custom Haggadah for a Seder, but it also has a huge library of publicly available ones (from ones for children to ones that focus on queer liberation) which I found to be a great way of seeing how different folks make the Seder their own.
If you got this far, thank you for bearing with me and I hope you enjoy!
Finn startled at the sound of his phone ringing, recognising the cooing notes as something by a pop group he couldn’t quite place the name of. He frowned for a moment until he remembered he'd given the device to Victoria, Thomas and Noelle's youngest, to play with earlier that week. He shook his head, resigning himself to the fact the catchy bop was going to be his ringtone for the next six months until he remembered to change it.
"Pez!" Finn grinned, propping his phone up against his laptop screen.
"Hey, Harzy. How's things?" The image wobbled as Percy sat in an armchair, loosening his tie with a heavy sigh. "That's better."
"The joys of academia wearing off already?"
"The kids are fine. The bureaucracy is bullshit," Percy said with venom. "But I didn't call to wax lyrical about work. I have a question for Shay."
Finn sat up a little straighter. "Oh, yeah?"
"She seemed pretty bummed out about missing Purim which is understandable because it is the best holiday -"
"He lies! That's Rosh Hashanah!" The southern lilt seemed vaguely familiar. Peering closer at the screen, he saw Percy’s cousin pottering around the kitchen, bleach blonde curls piled into a messy bun on top of her head. It had been over twenty years since Finn had last met her, but still his cheeks warmed as he remembered drunkenly ranting to her about some girl who had been flirting with Logan.
“As I was saying,” Percy threw a pointed look in Fliss’s direction. “you just missed Purim, but Pesach is coming up -"
"Pesach is Passover, yeah?" Finn asked.
Percy nodded. "Which means having a Seder -"
"Tell him what a Seder is!" The expression that filtered across Percy's face could only be described as exasperated.
"It’s Finn. He knows what a Seder is," Percy replied through gritted teeth. "You do know what a Seder is, right?"
"It's the meal where you tell the story of -" Finn clicked his fingers, searching through the wealth of information he'd read over the last few weeks. " - the exodus?" Finn practically preened when Percy gave a satisfied nod and gesticulated towards the screen smugly.
“See, I told you. Don't you have people to scold about their website accessibility or something?"
"I'm on my lunch break," Fliss sang, "but I've finished making my food now so I'll leave you alone. Bye Finn!"
"Bye!" Finn waved, even though he was fairly certain Fliss couldn’t see him.
“The next time she has a break-up and needs a place to stay for a bit, please remind me to say that all my spare rooms are occupied.”
“Don’t you have like 5 spare rooms,” Finn barked a laugh. Percy scowled and Finn missed the inevitable punch to his arm he would have experienced if the two of them weren’t talking through a screen. The irritated expression quickly melted back into the soft, warm smile that seemed to be ever-present on Percy’s lips.
"The Lions play here in a few weeks,” Percy said. “It’s the night before Pesach begins, so Remus and Sirius are going to stick around and come to the Seder I’m hosting. I wanted to invite you all too.
"Are you sure, that's really soon? We don't want to gate-crash."
"The more the merrier,” Percy grinned. “Everybody gets to come to Pesach, it's a whole thing."
"Okay," Finn drew the word out, already trying to remember if any of them had prior commitments for that date. "Can you message the details to me and I'll see what Le, Lo and Shay's thoughts are. Oh, and Shay is vegan, will that be a problem?"
"Yeah," Percy deadpanned. "You're all uninvited.” He wasn’t able to keep up the façade for long, waving away the sarcastic comment. “No, it’s not a problem. My sister is vegan too.”
"Great,” Finn hummed, scribbling a note on his to-do list. “I’ll let you know our decision ASAP."
***
“It’s cold,” Finn whined, cuddling further into Leo’s side and tugging his hat tight over his ears.
Shay snorted a laugh. She’d already told him several times he looked ridiculous in his thick wool coat, however spring was taking it’s time this year, and the temperature remained at a cool 42 degrees, which in Finn’s opinion meant it was still firmly in cold territory. “Yeah, yeah, laugh all you like,” he said, smirking as he waved his hand vaguely at Logan and then Shay. He received twin glares in response, which considering they both wore matching white t-shirts, dark slacks and trainers, only served to be comical. They’d had ample time for at least one of them to switch outfits, but they’d both looked at each other stubbornly and refused.
He reached out to press the doorbell again, Leo gently swatting his hand before he could get there. “Patience, love.”
Moments later, a wall of noise hit them as Percy opened the front door. "Hey," he greeted, smiling despite his slightly unkempt appearance. "Come in, come in. Everybody is in the big lounge for now, but we should be heading through to the dining room soon. I apologise in advance for the chaos."
"Chag Sameach!" Leo said carefully. To Finn's naïve ears it sounded exactly like the recording he'd heard being played on repeat over the last few days. Percy grinned, looking pleasantly surprised.
"Chag Sameach, Leo!"
The four of them shuffled in, removing shoes and jackets before following Percy down the hallway. “The quiet room,” he pointed to a door as they passed it, “reserved for sleeping babies and anybody who needs five seconds to hear their own thoughts.”
The noise only got louder the closer they got to the lounge. Percy had warned them it was going to be busy and he hadn’t been exaggerating. The room was filled with people, many of whom had Percy’s same pointed nose, fawn skin and russet hair. The rest, whilst not so similar in appearance, looked right at home amongst the noise.
"JJ! What have I told you about stealing your brother's blocks?"
"Seth, you either put your tie on properly or you do not wear it at all. You cannot wear it around your head."
In college, Percy had wistfully told them stories of being forced to help his mom kasher the kitchen, of reluctantly cleaning his bedroom and the songs they had all sang as they hunted down the final bits of hametz. Finn found himself wanting to apologise. He knew what all the terminology meant now, and their significance, but back then he’d never quite fully acknowledged what Percy was missing out on when games had fallen over the holiday.
“We brought wine,” Leo lifted a clinking bag into the air, with a nervous smile. “I made sure it had the right symbol on it.”
“Good man, head through that door,” Percy pointed, “You’ll find the dining room, just set them on the table. You can't miss it, and if you do then you'll just get to the kitchen which is the opposite of a problem for you, isn't it?" Leo laughed lightly. Over the years, he and Percy had formed a good friendship, both of them having an intensity to their game which led to a fierce rivalry on the ice, but enduring respect off of it. “And stop stressing, everything that needs explaining will be explained. Any questions, just ask. You’ll probably get twelve different answers and be even more confused, but you won’t offend anybody.”
"This is your last chance for a snack before we start!" A tall man with deep brown skin and a kippah atop a flash of curly hair hiked a small child further up his hip, shaking his head. "No, you can't have soup, yet" he laughed. "There's devilled eggs, veggies and guac, that's it."
"Uncle Percy?"
Percy looked down at the child tugging on the leg of his pants, stroking his hand fondly through her hair. "What’s up, Evie?"
With a trembling lower lip and a shaky breath, Evie stabbed her finger towards a huddle of children gathered around a box of toys. Finn spotted Teddy's red streaked hair amongst them. "Matthew said I can't be a dragon because that's not one of the ten plagues."
Percy held his hand out, Evie slipping her small hand into it, and glanced back at the four of them. "Sorry guys, I better sort this out before we have tears.” He jutted his chin towards the tall man, who was now trying to stop another small child from taking fistfuls of carrots. “I’d suggest grabbing some food if you haven’t eaten recently, it’ll be a while before we get to the meal. Just speak to Isaac.”
“Shay!” Teddy screeched, waving enthusiastically. The pre-schooler had been enamoured with her recently, one afternoon of watching cartoons enough to seal it in his brain that she was amazing. “Come and play with me.”
Shay glanced back at them briefly and then hurried off to fulfil Teddy's demands. She was soon swarmed by the other children wanting her attention, happy to have an older person around who wasn't trying to finish last minute preparations.
They were swept apart after that. Logan went to source snacks under the guise of introducing himself to Isaac. The next time Finn saw him, Logan had found a bean bag and was reading to a small brunette girl, JJ. Her cinnamon brown hair had obviously at one point been in neat braids, but now rebellious strands escaped their confines and fell into her face. The pair of them seemed content to crunch on carrot sticks between each turned page.
Finn jolted as a woman sidled up next to him, her heels making her almost as tall as him. "Jasmine, Percy's sister in law. Finn isn't it?" She said throwing her hand out and Finn shook it. Tipping her head towards Logan and JJ, she smiled, " I don't think I've seen her this quiet since...well, perhaps never."
Finn gave Logan a fond stare, "Yeah, he's good with them. I think it's because they have the same mental age."
*** Raph, Percy’s grandfather cleared his throat and a wave of shushing swept over the table. “Tonight we gather to celebrate Passover. For some of us, this is our 107th Seder,” he paused to let the small laughter die down, “For others, the first. But fear not, for I and the Haggadah will guide you.”
"Sammy the spider has taught me everything I need to know,' Logan said, offering his fist out for JJ to bump.
"Well, yes, Sammy the spider is quite comprehensive, never the less, it is there should you do need a reminder," Raph quipped back easily, his years of fatherhood and career as an outdoor adventure instructor clearly lending itself to dealing with cheeky comments.
“Now, we will go through each element of the Seder plate as we proceed, but I'd like to note we have a new addition this year in the orange. Our dear Felicity tells me this is to represent,” Raph looked briefly at his Haggadah, “LGBTQ people and the fruitfulness for all Jews when they are contributing and active members of Jewish life. It's wonderful to have you with us this year, although I am sure you are greatly missed at the youth shelter. ”
Fliss blushed, tugging lightly on one of the gold hoops hanging from her ears.
"You're embarrassing the poor woman," Elizabeth scolded lightly, moving the Kiddush cup surreptitiously towards Raph.
"Ahh, yes, let us commence."
***
Raph and Elizabeth took turns leading the Seder, Finn able to recognise the different steps he'd learned about, even with the families unique element interspersed throughout. They weaved the songs and prayers and discussion questions with a practised ease, skilfully telling the ancient story whilst highlighting suffering that still happened today.
"Now, Teddy has been practising his reading just for this moment," Elizabeth said, turning her attention to Teddy.
"Kaleb says it's not right to say it in English and I have to sing a song," Teddy gulped. "I don't know it."
Finn saw a flash of anger cross Remus' face, expression hard. He was sure the fact Kaleb was barely six years old, was the sole reason he wasn't on the receiving end of Remus' cool words.
"English is perfect," Elizabeth reassured. "We can sing the song tomorrow."
He pulled himself up onto his knees, sliding slightly on the cushion beneath him. Sirius steadied him, whispering into his ear and Teddy nodded. "Why is this night different from all other nights?" he began, needing just a little help from Remus. He worked his way through the four questions, listening intently as he received the answers.
***
"I don't think I can eat another thing," Finn clutched his stomach, looking longingly at the brisket. Perhaps if he waited 5 minutes he could eat some more.
"I need the recipe," Leo agreed, with a moan that Finn was almost jealous of. He had managed a second helping, plate piled high with salmon, ratatouille and potato kugel."
"What for?" Arianna laughed.
"All of it?" Leo tried. "But if I had to choose the matzo ball soup is divine. The chicken one. No offence intended, the vegan one is wonderful too. But the matzo balls in the chicken one are incredible, light and fluffy and just...perfect."
"Good luck with that," Percy's brother, Aaron, called from the other end of the table. "I've been trying for a lifetime."
"Come and see me in the kitchen later," Elizabeth winked.
Aaron spluttered, protesting loudly.
"If I gave you all my secrets then I would have no reason for you to come and visit me, would I?" Elizabeth joked, letting Seth pull himself up into her lap. Aaron just rolled his eyes in response.
***
“Oh no!” Raph gasped, “It seems I have lost the afikomen. Children, you will have to help me find it. We can’t finish the Seder without it.”
“Shay, I think Teddy might need some help reaching the higher places,” Remus hummed, swirling wine around his glass. “I’ve had a little too much to drink, so perhaps you could go with him?”
Shay hesitated for just a second, sliding off her chair eagerly to chase after Teddy.
"Nice move, Loops," Leo said.
"It was mostly self-serving. You know Teddy, he really will try to climb the furniture if left to his own devices, and I think I probably should switched to grape juice a glass or two ago." Remus leaned his head on Sirius' shoulder, chuckling, mostly to himself. "Headstrong like his father."
"Yes, because you are the most docile human ever," Sirius rebutted.
"I found it! I found it!" Evie clutched the cloth bound matzah to her chest.
"Oh well done!" Elizabeth cried, clapping her hands together with dramatic flair. "May I have it, please?"
Evie shook her head quickly, stepping back away from Elizabeth, her mouth stretched into a wide, gappy smile. "No!"
"No? Why ever not?"
"You have to give her something," Kaleb shouted, jumping up and down with excitement.
Elizabeth schooled her expression into something pondering, tapping her finger against her chin. "I'm not sure I have anything small children would want? What about you, Raphael? Do you have anything?"
Teddy tugged at Shay until she bent to let him whisper - or at least, that what he seemed to be attempting - into it, "He has candy! I saw him hiding it earlier."
"I think - ah, yes!" Raph opened the cupboard, pulling out a box. He lifted the lid dramatically, plucking a small silky blue bag from it. "Let's see how many of these I have...1, 2,3, 4, 5, 6...What comes next?"
7!" A collective shout came.
"7 and 8," Raph continued. "That's one for everybody, and two for Evie because she found the afikomen. Can we swap?"
Evie nodded, handing the wrapped up afikomen over. The bags were opened quickly, excited gasps rippling through the room as they discovered the candy inside, a $10 bill rolled up neatly beside it only seeming to attract the oldest of the children's attention. Shay had been shy to take a bag, but she held it close to her chest, smiling softly as she peered inside. Finn must have drank more than he had realised, because he felt the urge to cry.
***
"If all that male energy gets too much, you can call me anytime, okay?" Shay rifled through her backpack, pulling out a pad of sticky notes and scribbled her number down inside the pink, white and blue border. "And I think you should give that dog walking company a shot. I’m sure Logan can help you out with the business aspect, but if you need help with making a website then you know where I am.”
“Thanks,” Shay mumbled, uncharacteristically shy. She tucked the sticky note carefully into her jacket pocket. “I’ll definitely think about it.”
Leo rested his hand on Shay’s shoulder, patting it softly. “Well, we should head out. Early flight in the morning and all.” It was the fourth time they’d made to leave, but they finally managed it this time. The taxi pulled up and they left to a warm round of goodbyes and Teddy sobbing in Sirius’ arms despite his father’s reassurances him he would see them again very soon.
“It’s kind of nice,” Shay said quietly once they had piled into the taxi, a large container of the vegan matzo ball soup resting on her lap. “To think Jews have been doing this for thousands of years. The idea that my Mom and Dad followed the same tradition. I don’t remember much about them, but some of the songs we sang tonight feel so familiar. Like I’d heard them already. Maybe it’s just me misremembering, but either way, it makes me feel connected to them.”

how would the golden dawn and the black bulls act going through a haunted house?
well here's what i think would happen
i love haunted houses and i'm so bummed i didn't get to go this year so i had to make this
not a fan of how tumblr ruins the quality of my pictures
happy halloween
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
william:
before heading inside the haunted house he reminds everyone to stick together once they're all inside and that the monsters aren't real and can't hurt them
once inside he takes the lead, yes he's terrified but he's the golden dawn captain and must show no fear, he screams at the first pop up running towards the middle of the group
yuno:
before heading in he was not into it, he didn't understand the point of scaring yourself he thought it was stupid but he had no choice but to go
once inside he was annoyed at bell, klaus and mimosa clinging onto him and he kept explaining to them how they made the special effects, he was the last one of the group and someone caught him by surprise which startled him, resulting in him to use his wind magic
klaus:
before heading in he acted as if it was child's play, he was nervously laughing the entire time he was talking to yuno and mimosa about how ridiculous this was but he couldn't go against captain vangeance
once inside he immediately stuck himself in between everyone, he'd cling onto anyone that was near but it was mostly yuno and letoile, he gets scared at every pop up screaming into yuno's ear most of the time
mimosa:
before heading in she was so excited, she was mostly happy over being able to spend time with the entire squad, she thought this was going to be fun
once inside she stood in between yuno and klaus, everytime a pop would scared her, she'd grab yuno or klaus and she'd laugh it off afterwards, "i'm enjoying this"
langris:
before heading in, he like yuno saw no point in scaring yourself, he thought it was childish and a waste of time, he wasn't scared of anything and didn't expect to get scared of any of these mediocre pop ups
once inside he stood closer to the front wanting to get this over with as soon as possible, the first pop up that came up he used his magic destroying half the house, "sneak attack me again and see what happens"
alecdora:
before heading in he made sure to let everyone know to protect william at all times and to not let their gaurd down even if it was for fun, he wasn't scared he was more focused on protecting william
once inside he stood right behind william to keep a close eye on him, anytime a pop up would come he'd run in front of william and attack the pop up, "don't you dare touch the captain"
letoile:
before heading in she didn't really understand the point of doing this activity, she wouldn't admit it but she was a tad frighten over the haunted house and the eerie music didn't help
once inside she stood by klaus towards the back, she'd get scared here and there but when she would get scared she'd hang on to klaus or david
david:
before heading in he thought this was easy, he talked a big game over how easy this would be but deep inside he was scared and he really didn't want to go in
once inside he wedged himself in the middle of everyone even pushing klaus out of the way. when he felt someone grab his shoulder, he screamed turning around ready to fight whatever touched him, "i'm ready to go, come on i'm not scared"
hamon:
before heading in he openly admitted that he was a tad frightend, he just continued to eat for comfort but his stomach still felt empty
once inside he just pleaded to everyone to not knock his food over, when a pop up would come up he'd pay no mind to it since he was to distracted with eating
siren:
before heading in he would just hang around hamon, not knowing how to feel about this activity but he of cohrse had to follow william's orders
once inside he stayed towards the front with hamon, he kept his emotionless face everytime something tried to scare him, he doesn't scare easily
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yami:
before heading in he thought this was stupidest idea ever, he had no idea how everyone convinced him to come along, he just told everyone to not die and if they do he'd kill them
once inside he had a blast watching everyone get scared at the poorly made pop ups, one person did make the mistake on trying to scare him because yami drew his katana out ready to attack, he stayed in the back
asta:
before heading in he admitted to being scared but he also saw it as a type of training and was pumped to get inside the haunted house
once inside seeing as he was so excited, yami put him as the very first person to go in, he didn't even get through the first pop up without screaming and grabbing onto noelle to which she used her magic on him
noelle:
before heading in she played it off as if this was nothing, but on the inside she was shaking with fear and she really didn't want to go in, "i'm royalty nothing scares me"
once inside she immediately clung onto asta's shoulder still claiming to not be scared but to comforting asta, but the second she felt something brush against her she used her magic but quickly apologizing
finral:
before heading in he laughed at how scared everyone claiming there's nothing to be worried about because he was there making yami push him up fron with asta, heis legs were uncontrollably shaking while he cried on the inside, "don't worry ladies if you get scared just hang onto me"
once inside he tried to put a brave face on while he was still shaking, the first pop he ran to the back to hide behind yami, "i want to go home"
vanessa:
before heading in she tried to comfort everyone about how fun this will be and how much she was ready to see magna cry from being scared, she was buzzed
once inside she stood by yami pretending to get frighten just to be able to hold onto him, she would also laugh at how everyone got scared
luck:
before heading in he would tease magna about how scared he was going to get but to not worry because he'd be there protect him from the monsters, they made a bet to see who'd get scared first
once inside he was in the middle next to magna, he tried to fight every monster or pop up that would come up but yami would yell at him to stop, he would also push magna into the monsters to scare him
magna:
before heading in he would be constantly fighting with luck and vanessa about their teasing and was acting really macho about not getting scared
once inside he stayed in the middle claiming there was no more room up front, he was terrified and would scream everytime there would be a pop up, "i only screamed because everyone else did, i'm not scared"
gordon:
before heading in he was expressing his enjoyment over how they get to do this activity as a squad but of course no one listened and being from the agrippa family nothing scared him
once inside he stay towards the back with gauche and grey, everytime a monster would appear he'd try to befriend them but they'd get scared of him rather than gordon getting scared of them
grey:
before heading in she had already latched herself onto gauche, she kept mummbling to him about how much she really didn't want to go in
once inside she stayed in the back with gauche and gordon, she would get scared at every single pop up and monster making her hang tighter onto gauche
gauche:
before going in he was very vocal about not wanting to go and how much of a waste of time it was and he could be seeing marie instead of doing this
once inside he stayed in the back not caring that grey clung onto him, he was bored and wanted to get through the haunted house as quickly as possible, nothing scared him inside
henry:
before heading in he stayed far from the rest of the bulls but like always he was still happy to be around them, he didn't feel scared at all
once inside he still stayed far from the group but everytime a pop up or monster would scare him he'd scream in very slow tone making no one want to interact with him anymore
zora:
before heading he tried to get out of going but yami wasn't letting that happen so instead he decided to take a nap before it was their turn
once inside he didn't find anything scary so to entertain himself he would occasionally scare asta and throw stink bugs towards the pop ups
charmy:
before heading in she went around the bulls sharing her food to relax their nervous stomachs, she honestly had no idea why they were so scared
once inside she was completely oblivious to her surroundings, she would just try to share her food with the pop ups and monsters even though some of them weren't real but once she realizes where she is she screams at everything before stuffing her face again
nero:
before heading in she didn't know what was going on, she never heard of a haunted house before and wondered if lumiere would like it or not
once inside she stayed in her bird form and stayed on asta's head, she was unfazed by everything and everytime asta would get scared she'd peck him on the head

I'll be honest about Annilis, I love him and his sympathetic background AS well as his awful approach to keeping Hec-tor safe, because he's probably in some legitimate danger but he took it too far. I love HP, but I also wanna beat his ass too. Just grab him by the ears and yell, "What are you doing you idiot sandwich?!" I just wanna ask him "Are you even happy? And no getting pegged by a Shade isn't happiness." Don't want him to die though, only because it's a cop-out for actual punishment.1/2
2/2 That's what kinda bummed me on HP in-show, he did so much horrible shit, was an arrogant living "God", and he was just killed? That easy? HP's hubris was grotesque and he deserved a worse punishment than just a lightshow to the face. HP was also a non character in the end and whatever characterization he did have was lost quickly, gonna admit. But, an arrogant jerk dying that quickly is too easy a punishment, he has to suffer the consequences of his actions and experience his loss in detail.
sorry I'm sending you so many asks about HP. But dear God did the show drop the ball on Horde "supposedly endgame villain who was woefully underutilized until the last minute and even then was handed the villain ball to make sure what credibility he did have was lost" Prime. Could have been great, his story was there, but Crew-ra wasted time on frivolous characters(star siblings might have been cool but s5 needed to work on its existing characters, not introduce new ones)and wasted plot points.
I actually have done a ton of analysis on why prime just doesn’t work as a villain for pretty much six months now. Like I started doing this pretty much the day that the finale dropped cause I never liked S5 at all. There’s just much wrong with it, strictly from a narrative prospective than I cannot get over it, which I why I’ve kind of retreated into doing Fuck Canon aus. And I don’t think the major problems plaguing prime is that he’s a bad person or a cult leader or whatever, that would be fine. This is a matter of set up and pay off. This is a matter of narrative structure. Those are my major problems with everything about this.
Anyway, I guess we’ll try a flaccid attempt at positivity, just to make it clear that I am not coming strictly from a point of view of hate… the one thing I remember liking about prime is that creepy dinner scene. Loved that scene, I was so giddy when they dropped it as a teaser clip, and I got to enjoy it in peace for like a day and a half before my love for the show went crumbling. Prime is absolutely on his game in that scene, I can very clearly see his mind working, because my interpretation of the scene is that he’s trying to bait glimmer into giving him information. Did he actually intend to harm adora? Who knows! Does it matter? Not really, considering he got the information he wanted, which was what was needed to work the heart. I can feel the tension in that scene, that is how he should have been for the rest of the season.
So what the fuck happened? *cracks knuckles* well let’s see shall we.
Foreshadowing It’s Fun Cause It’s A Thing I’ve Heard Of
So I think we all remember just how shocking it was when prime actually showed up, and he wasn’t anything like we’d all come to assume he’d be based on what had been said about him up until that point. What we had been fed was essentially that he was cold, calculating, and didn’t look upon “defects” well. He saw the clones as disposable. And they set up that aspect of his character just fine, and I don’t have a problem with how that was set up.
What they utterly failed to properly set up (and even contradicted themselves on) was the cult thing, and how prime is essentially this messiah figure to the clones. I highly suspect this occurred because they were writing the show as they went along, and hadn’t fully fleshed out prime’s whole deal until he actually appeared at the end of S4, but that’s just my own speculation given some of the things that had been said in interviews regarding other aspects of the writing (namely that micah was apparently not supposed to be alive in the first place and that happened because of a miscommunication between noelle and one of the other writers).
Regardless, there are a number of things that should probably have been done differently in order to properly foreshadow prime’s cult leader status, that actually would have heightened hordak’s characterization as well. For one thing, there’s a reason we all assumed that the galactic horde was merely a military program and it’s because of how hordak acts throughout the first four seasons. We can talk in circles about headcanons until we’re blue in the face (i.e., he might have memory problems), but the fact of the matter is that those are headcanons and that hordak’s entire narrative changes from one of an ableist family to one of a religious trauma seemingly on a dime come the very end of S4 when prime shows up.
imagine how satisfying the foreshadowing would have been if hordak had actually been spouting dogma the entire show (i.e., “cast out the shadows” and “all beings must suffer to become pure”) only for it peter off once he’s befriended entrapta, if he had been calling those who he respected brother/sister instead of force captains (which is a far more militarized word to use, and judging by the galactic horde isn’t even a term they use), if he had still been dressed in his uniform and only actually started dressing differently after entrapta had helped him? Hell, he never even so much as implies that entrapta is leading him astray before he’s back with prime, he doesn’t even seem particularly distressed about being around her most of the time, and the only reason he even gets persnickety with her is because of his medical condition.
One point I’m going to expand on for a moment is the whole “brother” thing, because that is actually a very good way of explaining what I mean. Now, hordak doesn’t actually mention any other clones at all from what I remember. This is contrary to all of the clones in S5 referring to each other as “brother” pretty openly and it being seen as a term of respect. However, the only person that hordak actually calls “brother” up until S5 is prime, and this inadvertently ended up making the word seem far more neutral than it should have been considering the context of S5. The word “brother” is actually a control tool, and if they had wanted to establish that sooner, hordak should have been calling anybody he respected that.
So, either the writers hadn’t actually thought of that part of the narrative yet, or they’re just that bad at foreshadowing.
There are also three instances of the narrative contradicting itself with regards to prime, one in S3, one in S4, and one in S5. The first is that hordak wanted to make a new body for himself. While one could argue that this was meant to be foreshadowing that prime takes new bodies whenever his old one failed (which is fine, that works as foreshadowing), the act of hordak admitting that he was intending to do that is what actually creates the snag. With the context of S5, we learn that becoming a vessel is meant to be a place of honor, but this comes with the caveat that it seems like only prime is allowed to take new bodies. So why the ever living fuck would someone as “pious” and “unworthy” as hordak think that was something he could ever be allowed to do, much less that prime would welcome him back with open arms if he did it. But there’s zero hesitation on hordak’s part, he doesn’t even mention that this is something usually only reserved for prime.
The second is that prime literally looked at the heart of etheria and said it was “unlike anything [he had] ever seen” despite canonically fighting the first ones, so he’d presumably have recognized the energy signature that first one’s tech gives off and be like Oh Shit. This one in particular drives me absolutely nuts because if I was writing a villain who had lived long enough to fight the people this mystical weapon was created by I would never write them saying that what the actual fuck. My gripe here is not that prime is ancient, that’s fine, I could’ve vibed with that. But the fact that he not only fought the first ones but also recognized mara is really egregious in a way that borders on parody for me. Like what a flimsy excuse for him to be connected to adora (and we’ll get to that!)
The third and final one is that hordak was allegedly thrown out for his defects. That’s what we were told, that’s what a major facet of hordak’s trauma is centered around. However, at the same times, prime seems like… oddly fixated on hordak in a way that usually implies something deeper is going on here. That was why I was so convinced that hordak wasn’t remembering something clearly, because why would prime spare him instead of killing him immediately after returning if he was defective enough to warrant being thrown out? Come S5, prime seems to have forgotten about the pesky little plot detail that is hordak’s defects, since they never come up again! Nope! Hordak is not only completely healed of his ailments (which Can I Get A Yikes?) but he’s also been welcomed back to his original position as prime’s right hand by the mid-point of the season, and he stays there until the finale unless the plot demands he be elsewhere to interact with entrapta cause hordak was added in post. You can’t even argue that he was keeping hordak alive because eThErIaN kNoWlEdGe because he has those fucking mind chips. Literally every single person he’s chipped is connected to the hivemind because of that. He’d have every single bit of knowledge that he could possibly want right there at his fingertips. He doesn’t need hordak alive at all.
Which brings us to…
It’s Almost Like He Wasn’t A Villain To The Proper People
The thing about villains is that, in order for them to not feel out of place, in order for their defeat to actually give a true feeling of satisfaction, you kind of have to put them up against the right people. The reason that prime ultimately fails in this respect is that he is not adora and catra’s villain, despite the narrative pushing him as that…
I actually once joked on twitter that if the rise of skywalker had come out when S5 was being written, then prime would have likely ended up being revealed as adora’s long lost grandfather in some attempt to make his fixation on her seem warranted. That’s the level we’re at in terms of how connected the two of them appear to be for the villain and hero thing. They just are not connected, and prime has absolutely no reason to be this fixated on her. They tried to explain it with she ra and prime being old enemies, but that’s equally as confusing because a) mara hadn’t mentioned him up until that point, b) this inclusion actually makes the first ones creating a superweapon look justified since prime is such a huge threat, and c) she ra is explicitly stated to have been on etheria long before the first ones even colonized it, so why the fuck is she just gallivanting around the cosmos fighting cult leaders?
And to be clear, if this whole prime versus she ra had actually been hinted at, I would not be taking so much issue with this. But as there was absolutely zero mention of him, it just comes off as egregious and very, very sloppy on their parts.
Prime also should not be as fixated on catra as he is, that doesn’t make sense at all. I know why this happened in particular, though, and it’s because the writing team was so in love with her that they just had to give her this arc. That just makes its inclusion all the worse to be honest. Why does he go to such great lengths to use catra to torture adora, why does he go into a total breakdown after catra escapes? He isn’t connected to either of them…
… because he is hordak and entrapta’s villain.
that prime didn’t immediately want entrapta dead continues to confuse me to this day, nearly seven months after the fact. Like you mean to tell me that this cult leader, who is presumably used to complete obedience from his followers, finds one of the wayward members of his proverbial flock lost on some backwater, who didn’t want to be found, and he knows exactly who is responsible for sewing those seeds of discord in this poor lamb’s head. And he doesn’t immediately want entrapta dead?
Not only does prime never mention her, despite it being very easy to push a plotline about how it’s necessary because she’s perceived as a danger to the rest, and especially to the poor lost soul who was ultimately returned to him. Instead, prime just doesn’t seem to realize entrapta exists. He doesn’t know who she is despite literally reading hordak’s mind. He doesn’t even seem to interpret her as threat considering he wasn’t worried about putting her and hordak right next to each other in the finale. He should have been using hordak to torture entrapta, and he should have had his break because hordak escaped him. That whole scene where catra is under mind control and adora was trying to snap her out of it was textbook entrapdak. Hordak should have been the one to delve into the hivemind to help adora. It was his story and it was taken from him when he was sacrificed on catra’s narrative arc altar.
And this is ultimately completely fixable. Because they had a villain they could have been using for adora and catra the whole time. Shadow Weaver. Y’know, their mutual abuser who was the main cause of strife between the two of them, and the person who kind of set the plot in motion since she’s the reason catra is the way that she is?
He Blew It. Super Hard. Complete Buffoonery.
Ultimately one of the biggest writing fumbles with prime is that he is just really fucking dumb as the plot demands, and it doesn’t make any kind of narrative sense for him to be that way, it is literally just him being at the mercy of the writers who need him to do something stupid so they can push the plot forward since they made him too overpowered for it to happen any other way.
There’s numerous instances of this across the season, including him bringing entrapta aboard the velvet glove when the very person he would have had very good reason to not let her near is standing right there, and him deciding to give catra pretty much free reign of the velvet glove and seeming to decide to trust her despite him knowing damn well that she’s likely to betray him the second he does something she doesn’t like, and the time he literally left adora to be beaten by catra instead of just killing her outright when she couldn’t even activate she ra. And in all these cases he had the fucking nerve to seem surprised when it happened?
However, there is one plot point that I feel illustrates how goddamn stupid he is to move the plot forward, and it’s the mind chips.
I mean one of the reasons I dislike it is going back to how little foreshadowing the writers actually seem capable of committing to. There is nothing to indicate in the narrative that prime actually employs mind control on anybody besides the clones, and this becomes especially egregious when we later meet the star siblings, and we find out that there are large swathes of the universe that are seemingly not chipped? It just screams like they needed some type of angst plot point for catra, so they had to find a way to make it work.
But the very inclusion of the mind chips as a plot point makes prime look so ridiculously dumb, because we are told those chips connect people to the hivemind, we are explicitly shown this for catra angst. So a) why does he need hordak around at all, because the excuse he needs to know about etheria doesn’t work since he literally chips like half of the etherian population later on anyway, b) if he needed information on the heart of etheria, why didn’t he just chip glimmer outright, it would have saved him a lot of time and hassle, and c) if he knew damn well that catra had betrayed hordak numerous times and was likely to do the same to him, why didn’t he just immediately chip her so he could mitigate two problems. If he had chipped catra immediately, he wouldn’t have lost glimmer, and it would have been next to impossible for adora and bow to storm the velvet glove through the means that they did.
When your main villain is that fucking stupid, the tension is completely sapped out of your narrative, and prime doesn’t have enough character unto himself to continue holding up his own arc. He is a sexy lamp cardboard cutout that just happens to be brought onto the scene when they were in need of someone to throw the idiot ball at. Prime is supposed to be this thousand year old body hopper who has the wisdom of the ages, and yet he was defeat by a group of teenagers driving a clown card held together by nothing but duct tape and prayers.
Anyway!
Guess Who Just Got Murdered!
Anon, I completely agree that the way prime got taken out was just… hm. Well, it was a choice, given how they had written the rest of the season.
I’ve said this before, but I really wish I could actually enjoy hordak yeeting him, but I just don’t feel anything. That scene is a culmination of an arc that never happened because hordak was barely on screen for S5. It feels like we’re missing this whole season-long arc about how hordak managed to break free of prime and was actively working against him, and that scene is the lowest point, right before the greater scope villain is ultimately defeated by the protagonist. Which just furthers my point that prime is really hordak’s villain, because hordak reads more like a protagonist than I think the writers actually intended for him to.
Since you mentioned anillis, I feel the need to comment on him as well, because I do know exactly what happens to him at the end of my au, because I actually planned for his ending from the beginning and built his arc towards that point. The very bare bones spoilers is that he isn’t going to die, because a) he needs to live with the consequences of his actions and b) him dying would affect hec-tor horribly, especially since if anybody had to deal the killing blow it would be hec-tor. And hec-tor doesn’t deserve to be forced to do that. He wants freedom, he doesn’t want his brother dead by his own hand.
So, I completely agree that just killing prime off feels a little… like a cop out? I’m not going to get into a discussion of how he was defeated by the power of (romantic) love because my issue there is not with the trope itself, but ultimately how it was handled, and that also has to do more with my grievances with how catradora was ultimately handled than my grievances with prime. However, him being like… exorcised…
Well it sure does clean up some loose ends that we don’t want to discuss huh?

Hi would you like some rage about She-Ra season 5?
If the answer is no, please don’t click below. For real. Really for real. I’m not looking to piss in anyone’s Cheerios. I think if you were satisfied (or better!) with the show, that’s fantastic and I envy you. As I have always said, love what you love. My opinion is mine and means precisely nothing beyond that. If you think you may be even a little bummed reading about how someone didn’t like it, skip this post and go on with your day, I promise you’re not missing anything worthwhile.
IN A SIMILAR VEIN: If -- before, during, or after reading -- you feel inclined to argue with me, I am begging you to please not. I cannot begin to tell you how much I don’t want to be argued with on this right now. I’m still extremely disappointed and cranky, and I’m not much in the mood to have a measured, reasoned debate about my feelings. Much as my opinion has no bearing on you, your opinion has no bearing on me, and as I’m giving you the option to opt out, I’d appreciate the same courtesy. If you want to write your own post on your own blog, go nuts! Just please leave me out of it. I PREFER TO BE CRANKY AT TELEVISION SHOWS THAN PEOPLE.
The rest of you, come on down. I don’t promise coherency, but I DO promise a lot of stuff said in all-caps!
---
Hello! Thank you for joining me! We watched the remaining few episodes of She-Ra last night! I hated them! Yaaay!
What did I hate? OH HO HO MANY THINGS FRIENDS MANY THINGS. It’s not just stuff from the final couple of episodes either, I want to clarify. It’s the entire final season, settling on last few episodes like the freshly fallen snow on your front lawn that some frat boys decide to pee their names into. By the time we’d gotten to these last episodes, there was really nothing left for me but confirmation of all the shit I’d come to hate. SO THANKS I GUESS FOR PROVING ME RIGHT
Which isn’t to say there was nothing to enjoy in the final episodes! There was!
Tumblr media
5. She-Ra’s Triceps. GET BUFF GIRL. I LOVE how Adora and She-Ra look similar, but very much not identical. Adora’s no slouch when it comes to physical stuff, but they go the extra mile to show us how She-Ra is that much more. HOW RARELY DO YOU GET TO SEE A WOMAN WITH MUSCLES. I’ve been nothing but impressed by the ways the show drew the line between Adora and She-Ra, and however I felt about its handling of other elements, it didn’t let me down here.
Tumblr media
4. Sometimes A Family Is A Twink, A Lizard, And Their Imp Baby. I don’t have further commentary on this, and I need none.
Tumblr media
3. Welcome Home, Daddy. THIS WAS SO SPECTACULAR. Glimmer had, I would argue, the most realized arc in the story. It was so gratifying to see this as a culmination, not just of her own struggle with her magical power and ability to harness it, but her willingness to do what needs doing, however personally difficult. That was a stumbling point Angelica could never overcome, continually trying to micromanage and protect Glimmer rather than trusting her and recognizing her for the asset she was. Also though, more succinctly: YESSSS BITCH
Tumblr media
2. A Shanty! THIS WHOLE SCENE WAS PERFECT NO NOTES. Just the right blend of silly and sincere, a genuine delight as even brainwashed Mermista had had enough of Sea Hawk’s shit, AND so much more clever than it seemed at first glance. THIS IS THE ONLY VALID HETEROSEXUAL RELATIONSHIP IN SHE-RA I AM NOT TAKING QUESTIONS AT THIS TIME
Tumblr media
1. Shadow Weaver. SHADOW FUCKING WEAVER. What a complicated, fascinating character, bar none the most interesting in the entire series. I do think they pulled their punch right at the very end with her, but I AM capable of remembering I’m watching a kid’s show, so I can only get so disappointed about it. Mostly, she remained a beautifully morally complex character, and she was one of my greatest personal delights from beginning to end*.
(*) Boy did this show have one single solution for mommy issues though.
THAT WAS ABOUT IT. So let’s get to why we’re all really here, and that is MY SCREAMING OH MY GOD WHERE DO I BEGIN
Nah, I know exactly where to begin.
GLIMMER AND BO JESUS MCTRISKET I AM GOING TO EXPLODE AND SHOWER THE UNIVERSE IN THE SHRAPNEL OF MY HATE
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING
WHERE DID IT COME FROM
HOW CAN I SHOVE IT BACK IN THE HATEFUL SPEWHOLE THAT SIRED THIS BULLSHIT
WHY WHY IS THIS HERE WHY IS THIS IN MY FACE WHERE MY EYES HAVE TO SEE IT FUCK ME SIDEWAYS THIS IS THE MOST UNNECESSARY SHOEHORNED IN HET ROMANCE FUCK A DOODLE NONSENSE I HAVE EVER HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO BEAR WITNESS WHAT IS IT DOING IN THIS OTHERWISE EXPONENTIALLY GAY CARTOON
WERE YOU PANDERING TO THE STRAIGHTS
WHY ARE YOU PANDERING TO THE STRAIGHTS I ASSURE YOU WE ARE COVERED BOTH HISTORICALLY AND FICTIONALLY
ALSO NEED I REMIND YOU THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVED HETEROSEXUAL PERFECTION
Tumblr media
NO MERMISTA NO WE ARE NOT ALL JUST LIKE OKAY WITH THIS
Oh my FUCKSTICKS, I could’ve rolled with so much more that angers/disappoints me about She-Ra’s ending if every single thing I feared about this hadn’t proved true.
AND. IT. WAS. SO. UNNECESSARY.
What exactly did pairing off Glimmer and Bo do for the story? For their characters? THIS IS THE PART THAT’S STABBING ME IN THE DELICATE WEBBING OF MY TOES. Because -- COME WITH ME A MOMENT SWEET ANGELS -- because I was under the impression that, oohhhh, I dunno, FRIENDSHIP WAS A HUGE FUCKING IMPORTANT PART OF THIS PASTEL HELLSCAPE
Is it, She-Ra? IS IT REALLY???? When not one but BOTH of your childhood friendship pairings end in romance? When you close out your five seasons with romantic relationships so painfully and specifically sown across the character landscape like an overzealous gardener turned loose on the world?
You know what you have at the end? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID
Tumblr media
THIS ISN’T A BEST FRIENDS SQUAD IT’S A DOUBLE DATE THAT NEVER MERCIFULLY ENDS
And again I ask, Why?? What was it about Glimmer and Bo’s relationship that needed them to become romantic? What was LACKING that this was the solution?
THIS IS WHAT MAKES ME LOSE MY GODDAMN SHITTING MIND I AM SO FUCKING DONE WITH THIS INSIPID MYOPIC TRASHBAG OF A CONCEPT
I believed She-Ra’s entire premise about friendship, I believed it wholeheartedly, and I’m so PISSED that at the close of day, narratively, it swept it all the bin. AND YES, YES IT DID, otherwise, WHY IS IT THERE. It serves no story-based need, it serves no character-based need, it has no NEED at all. So is it meant to be a “reward” to Bo and Glimmer for winning the war, as if their lifelong friendship were not reward enough? Is it meant to show they’ve walked through the flames and emerged with stronger, deeper bonds, because of course a relationship can only go SO deep without fucking. There’s no avenue to Romantic Relationship that doesn’t simultaneously point to something lacking in Platonic Relationship, AND I AM FURY PERSONIFIED
I am so tired of this. I’m SO TIRED of this.
And it didn’t need to be there. They didn’t even TRY to give us a good reason. That may be the part that makes me the angriest. Of COURSE they hook up romantically, of COURSE their platonic love would grow into “more”.
Fuck YOU, She-Ra. I thought you were better than that. YOU WERE SO CLOSE TO BETTER THAN THAT
THEN THERE WAS CATRA
I get it, I guess. I mean, I think it’s shittily written, but I GUESS. Honestly, end of day, I just don’t care about Catra enough to really get too angry about it, particularly when as I’m so fucking incendiary over something much more important to me. But it’s also the show’s greatest creative failure, and even if I HADN’T gotten angrier at other choices, it would’ve still cut its own legs out from under it.
Catra’s “redemption” was weak and sad and did a disservice to her and everyone involved. She started self-centered and shitty, and she ended just as self-centered and shitty, only we’re fine with that now. She learned nothing and changed nothing, but also nobody ever demanded it of her, so I can only lay so much at the character’s feet. The problem is ultimately creative, where I think Noelle Stevenson got lost in her own love of the character, and somewhere along the way forgot that if you take them out that far, you have to be willing to walk them the long road back. Compare to poor Glimmer, for fuck’s sake, whose greatest sin was being desperate enough to be manipulated by the character whose entire fucking DEAL is being THE manipulator. How much shit did she get for that? How long was she punished? Meanwhile Catra becomes THE Big Bad for a while, nearly unravels all of reality in a fit of supreme lesbian angst and self-pity, directly leads to the death of the planet’s ruling monarch who also happens to be GLITTER’S MUM and DIRECT FRIEND TO THE SHOW’S HEROES, but that’s fine, you did one sorta good thing one time and even though it was also wrapped in a thick film of self-pity and a final fuck-you at Adora, all is forgiven!
Speaking of, Adora suffers just as much from stunted growth. From the beginning, her thing was control, unable to free herself from the responsibility of everything and everyone. What did we have at the end? Adora as the only one who could save everything and everyone. Yeah, they kept asking what it was SHE wanted, BUT THEN SHE NEVER ACTUALLY GOT TO CHOOSE. NOT activating the failsafe wasn’t an option for her, and while she wound up not having to die to do it, even that wasn’t her choice in the end, it was Catra’s. (Don’t even get me started on her nth hour “You love me?” fuckery when it wasn’t once for one single second shown to be a question of such life-turning importance.)
All of which could be interesting! That Catra and Adora went through all this, came so far to wind up right where they started? AWESOME. LOVE IT. FUND IT. But really all that happens is nobody minds now that Catra’s a self-involved little shit and tee-hee another Best Friends Squad Mission being bullrushed by Adora within five minutes of ending the last one isn’t that funny?
I can’t even dig much enjoyment out of Adora and Catra as a trope subversion (if one of them was a male, their romantic involvement wouldn’t have even been a QUESTION), because the show lost its fucking mind with romantically pairing everybody off in the final five minutes. WHICH BRINGS ME RIGHT BACK TO MY PREVIOUS SCREAMING SO I’LL STOP THERE.
There was other stuff, of course. I think it was a TERRIBLE decision to spend the last season with the focus split between the two groups of rebels, and writing half the cast into brainwashing. I think the Nettossa and Spinnerella stuff was wasted and lacked any punch at all because the show for some reason or another couldn’t be bothered to let us spend any time with them to care. The waste of Scorpia and Mermista especially (to people named Jet Wolf who are me) was fucking CRIMINAL. Speaking of Scorpia, wouldn’t her showdown with Bo have been so much more poignant if they’d had really any kind of interaction before that moment to build from? (Sure, it’s Scorpia, so if you’re going to sell the lack of context with anyone it’s her, BUT ALSO.) Hey, remember Huntara? No? NEITHER DID THE SHOW.
All my details aside though, MY MANY MANY MANY DETAILS, what kills/rages me most about She-Ra was how so much potential from the first four seasons was just flushed away. Whether it was the creative team shooting itself in the foot or corporate pressure and rushing from Netflix, I don’t know. I don’t CARE. This is the show I was given, so this is the show I have, and that kind of fall after that kind of potential doesn’t just irritate me, it makes me SAD. I wouldn’t be this disappointed if I didn’t think it could have been -- WAS -- so much more.
Time will tell if I can separate out the final season from how much I loved those that came before it. I like to hope so, because I did love it intensely and loved whenever I got the chance to really dig in and talk about it.
WHATEVER ELSE I SUPPOSE I WILL ALWAYS HAVE THIS
Tumblr media
Again please remember that I am not at present looking to argue or debate my feelings and opinions. I get to just be angry and disappointed, as a treat!

Black Clover 238 reaction and spoilers
I saw some preview images a few days ago and so let’s all hop aboard the pain train together.
Current threat level: Slyph isn’t flirting, she’s giving tactical orders while taking a protective position in front of Yuno
It’s hard to discern if Vangeance is dead from being strung up or just incapacitated. However, I’m pretty sure Klaus and Letoile are going to die. The magic bones have pierced probably Letoile’s lungs and Klaus’ stomach and intestines while their squad’s healers are either absent or too injured/dying/dead to help. If reinforcements arrive and they don’t die, they’re likely to end up like All Might and have greatly reduced organ function, which I’m not sure this medieval themed world can handle well enough to give them full lives.
Zenon has what looks like horns from two different devils and one wing, which suggests that he’s possibly borrowed multiple devils’ powers, which makes me curious how the Spade mages obtained such power. Did they eat it? Was portions of a devil’s carcass placed into their bodies? It seems like a different kind of possession from Asta’s symbiotic relationship with his devil.
I’m really looking forward to listening to how Shimazaki acts this out in the anime while also not sure I’m looking forward to watching some of these plot points in motion when we get there.
I think it’s a bit weird that the person who comes to the Golden Dawn’s headquarters first is Ralph, but his reaction to the whole thing answers a few of the questions I have rolling around in my head here.
Some post- 238 thoughts:
The flow of events of the last few chapters raise a lot of suspicion, and it makes me curious how much the Dark Triad knows. It wouldn’t surprise me if Dante is Yuno’s uncle given that historically those creating these types of successful coups are adjacent to the throne. If this is true, it might also explain why Ralph has survived successfully for the last almost seventeen years since Ralph can lead the Dark Triad to the heir (Yuno) that could possibly undo all the power they’ve gained. It wouldn’t surprise me if Ralph was able to get to Clover Kingdom the same day the Spade mages attack the Golden Dawn so the Spade mages could either ferret out the prince indirectly. It seems like Zenon was unaware someone on Yuno’s level would be with the Golden Dawn as well, which makes me think while the Dark Triad might be aware that the prince was taken to Clover Kingdom, they don’t know he’s Yuno. I was also suspicious of Ralph’s intent given the timing of all of this, but I think Ralph is genuine given his reaction to arriving at the destroyed base. I just am having trouble believing that Ralph finally able to get to Yuno just before the raid is coincidental.
Another thing I’m curious about is how did the Spade mages get to the Golden Dawn base? Yuno seemed to instinctively sense something was off when he left Hage, so why haven’t other Magic Knights also sensed a problem? Although maybe being a four leaf allows Yuno heightened mana awareness or perhaps it was just logic driving him more than the ability to sense demonic mana. It’s also possible considering almost all of the Golden Dawn became possessed by elves and played key direct roles during the possession that the Clover Kingdom let this happen. Damnatio was willing to kill Asta as a gesture but was unable to do so, which to some might have made it look as though the devils’ influence was never properly dealt with. However, it does seem a bit extreme to allow an entire Magic Knight squad to be nearly wiped out, although it does ensure that something like the elf possession cannot happen again, which might be the real goal since Damnatio does have the kingdom’s best interests in mind. That said, if someone or more than one someone did kind of allow Spade to do this, did they know what Spade was after? Or do they not care and wanted to be able to have a more direct war with Spade rather than do what the Clover and Heart joint mission group is doing? I mean on one hand it seems stupid because they would need the Golden Dawn caliber of mages to go after Spade, but on the other hand I think we can’t really rule out that maybe this was allowed to happen.
Now, for the potential deaths. I feel dueling extremes over them. Like on one hand, no not my babies. I mean I love these characters. I have strong affinity towards them. Vangeance is relatable with his back story and poor choices, Yuno reminds me of my brother, Klaus is a gift, etc…etc…Also what about Langris? Where is he in all this? What if he wasn’t at the base and he’s going to get blamed for this? It’s a lot to take in. On another hand, if Vangeance, Kalus, Letoile, etc…etc.. die, then that’s something we don’t seem to see in shounen that often, and if Yuno dies, then that’s just a straight up game changer for Jump. We’ve not really seen a Jump series do that, just kill off the main rival/brother/etc…figure and then not bring them back from the dead. I know some people have been arguing that because it comes immediately with the prince reveal that to kill Yuno would be bad writing, but I’m not sure it technically would be. The prince reveal gets Yuno out of the headquarters as the raid begins, it shows that Spade has a hope but they don’t have a face for that hope, it also might hint at there being bigger problems in Clover Kingdom than just Spade invading one of their squad’s bases. It’d all come down to how Yuno’s death could serve the narrative and also serve Asta’s character journey. I know I’ve been wondering since part two started if part of where the story is heading is not necessarily giving up but learning to adjust and keep going. I mean Asta’s never give up crush is on a nun so we know logically he’s going to have to give up on that and change focus but still likely achieve a romance with another character. Maybe Yuno dying is going to cause Asta to readjust and refocus his goals. We know Asta is politically minded and is definitely focused on becoming Wizard King, but I think a lot of that goal was wrapped up in Yuno still being there, still experiencing it, and with Yuno gone, some of that dream will have to change. I think also an indication of this was when Asta said point blank that he rejected the judicial system during his trial. Maybe to gain power like a Wizard King, Asta will have to reject a lot of that dream and mold it into something new but similar.
Another factor here is that Black Clover has a tendency to set us up for tropes and then bend them. For example, Julius and Orsi both almost died but managed not to, though typically in these types of stories the mentor and the father die. We’ve also got Noelle the princess whose power is directly linked to her desire to protect rather than be protected. We’ve got Charmy the wolf in sheep’s clothing who just wants to eat, eat, eat rather than be some nefarious mustache twirling bad guy. So I definitely wouldn’t put it past Tabata to kill Yuno since it’s expected that Yuno would live because the rival almost always lives or comes back from the dead. Yet, we also can’t rule out that there’s also a tendency for a character to be completely physically defeated. Fuegoleón lost his arm and went into a coma, Finral was near death and went into a coma but came back, Julius died and came back, so we can’t rule out that Yuno might survive and grow from this experience. That said, I think if Yuno does survive then it’s unlikely that Vangeance, Klaus, and Letoile will. We’re going to lose some faves most likely and it’s going to hurt.
Another thing that I keep coming back to is Asta. Like whether Yuno dies or not, Asta and everyone working on the joint task force will likely have to stay put especially now that Spade attacked Clover directly. I want to see Asta have to deal with this in that way, all these people died and he’s got to stay put. He’s got to process it away from the funerals and so forth. He’s got to find a way to deal with it and move forward. Again, it’s a bit of a dual feeling because I love Asta so much so it’s the writer in me going “Yeah, give me the angst,” and the fan in me going “;o; poor Astaaaa and everybody.”
Also I’m curious what will happen with Mimosa? Her squad is decimated and their captain possible dead. Does she join an existing squad? Are there enough people left in the Golden Dawn that someone would just get appointed captain of it and change the name as per typical succession like how the Gray Deer became the Azure Deer? I also want to see how she’s going to process this too, because that’s a lot of loss especially if she was close to a lot of her squad and thought of them as a kind of family potentially.
And finally, the anthropologist side of me is really curious about Clover Kingdom funerals and I’m going to be a bit bummed if we don’t get to find out what those are like considering at least unnamed characters are indeed dead.
All that said, I’m not sure if I’d say I’m rooting for any one theory (or any of them for that matter) to be true or not, and whether we get into the heavy and horrible or not, I’ll keep reading because either way it’ll be interesting. Do I want these characters to die? No, but I’m not going to sneeze at the potential character development and plot points that could come from such things.

☕️ fashion in your favorite series (plural)
Hello there, anon!
And oh boy is that a topic!
I think I should start with the fact that I know basically nothing about fashion. I basically only wear jeans, t-shirts, and occasionally blouses day-to-day and my fanciest clothes are Sunday best.
But onto the actual fashion.
I think my favorite series with the best fashion sense would have to be Avatar: the Last Airbender. The clothes come from various Asian cultures and are so aesthetically pleasing. And while not 100% practical, they are not illogical fashion choices.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Sorry about the different in quality. Couldn't be helped.)
I mean, look at their fits! Color consistency with characters from the same nation. Blues and grays for the Water Tribe. Warm tones (mostly red but pink in Ty Lee's case) and black for Fire Nation. While Earth Kingdom and Air Nomad both share yellow, at least between Toph and Aang, the saturation/shade is different. Aang's yellow and orange aren't overwhelmingly bright shades and the brown on his outfit provides a neutral shade to bring it all together.
Seriously, Avatar has some amazing fashion!
.....
Another series with good fashion sense, though more for symbolism, is Demon Slayer.
With Demon Slayer 99% of the time, the characters are all in uniform with just haoris or capes to distinguish them. Still, the patterns that they wear on their clothes sets them apart.
https://olafolsson.com/blogs/blog-1/wagara-traditional-japanese-patterns-and-designs
This blog post explains a few types of designs/patterns used in Japanese clothing. Nezuko's kimono has a hemp leaf pattern which represents protection from evil spirits, which she both gives to the defenseless and receives from Tanjirou. Tanjirou's checkered haori carries meaning such as "prosperity for descendants" which make sense since the checkered pattern has been with the Kamado family since Sumiyoshi and the siblings do manage to have their own descendants.
Tumblr media
Inosuke may not wear a haori but he wears different types of fur.
Tumblr media
Boars are wild and stubborn. Bears are strong and sturdy. Deer are beautiful and nimble. All those words can be used to describe Inosuke as well.
The clothes in Demon Slayer may not have a lot of variety but the meaning behind what the characters do wear shouldn't be ignored.
.....
My Hero Academia's fashion is fine. I mean, the U.A. uniforms do give an air of sophistication with the button-ups and jackets. Although there are still the unrealistically short skirts. And when the characters are shown in street clothes, the outfits are varied and some are quite pleasing in my opinion.
Personal favorites are Itsuka and Hitoshi's because they're simple with little flares like the collar or stripes. Shows that they don't put too much thought into their outfits but still put effort into it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And yes, I am just using this as an opportunity to show off that I have manga in the original Japanese.)
I won't really talk about the Hero costumes because that's a whole other can of worms that's strongly influenced by the characters' desire to be flashy and marketable. Practicality isn't considered that much from what I can tell. I will say this though: none of the students' costumes are good (aesthetically, practically, or even both) when you take a real close look at them. I think the adults are better, though not perfect.
.....
Black Clover is... One of the servers I'm in has a channel called "fashion police" for a reason. In this medieval fantasy setting, the fantasy is turned up all the way while medieval is low.
Just look at the Black Bulls.
Tumblr media
Lightning round.
-Henry's in his pajamas, enough said. -Gordon is in some military uniform that we don't see anywhere else. -Yami's dressed like a bum. -The pads on Gauche's elbows and knees distract me and the lines on his pants and boots?! -Zora is basically Eijirou's Hero costume but worse (and there are already problems with that). -Finral is fine for the most but I think the boots need adjusting. -Vanessa's issue is that it's so much of one color (yes the hat ribbon and grimoire bag add another color but I personally feel like it isn't enough). -I think I have a shirt exactly like Luck's which isn't a good sign and his grimoire bag's placement also deducts points. -Noelle's outfit is illogical and inappropriate for her age. -Grey's is sensible for the most part (like how the shoe straps match the belt) but I think the divide of blue and white should be lower, maybe at stomach level. -Secre is in a ballet dress and could use shoes and a couple accessories to make her design less barren. -Charmy dresses like a grade schooler and it suits her size but, eh, I think a cute blouse could work too. -And although Nacht isn't pictured above, I have a slight issue with all his belts and that stupid high collar.
I think Magna and Asta (pre-Heart Kingdom training. Post-Heart makes me a sad mama) have the best outfits. They've got simple outfits with little details that prevent them from being completely plain. And honestly, I could see real people wearing those fits.
And it's not just them!
I mean! Why are there holes in Solid and Nozel's pants? Where are Noelle's pants?! Why do all the older siblings have such crusty looking hair?! Why do the fire Vermillions all wearing the same thing (seriously aside from jacket lengths and shoes styles, they are all wearing the same thing)?! Why can't the Golden Dawn have consistent cape colors?! Charlotte's breastplate and helmet make no sense and Sol's outfit is barely existent!
.....
Whew, I think I burned myself out with that one! Didn't think I'd go so hard, especially at the end. I legitimately surprised myself with that.
Hopefully you don't find my ranting too off-putting, anon. I just put all my thoughts out where without much of a filter.

Bookshelf Briefs 2/16/20
Black Clover, Vol. 19 | By Yuki Tabata | Viz Media – The nature of these volumes is they tend to be between 9-11 chapters no matter what, and while some thought is always given for an appropriate “cliffhanger” (and there’s a good one here), it does sometimes mean that the emotional beat can happen earlier than the author might like. That’s definitely the case here—this book is front-loaded as hell, with the absolute highlight being Noelle reuniting with her family, kicking ass, and her older brother apologizing for the constant abuse he hurled at her. It’s really fantastic. The rest of the book can’t help but feel like an anticlimax, though there is a nice bit at the end where Asta and company make a chaotic entrance to join in the fight. Which isn’t over yet, so next time? – Sean Gaffney
Horimiya, Vol. 13 | By Hero and Daisuke Hagiwara | Yen Press – This manga has too many cast members in it we have to remember, especially given that it only comes out now about once every six months or so. We see Iura dealing with his younger sister, who is having exam worries, and it’s meant to contrast to his “the guy nobody likes” persona at school, but I can’t really retain enough about what he was like for it to really impact. One good thing about this volume is that Hori is relatively behaved, so there’s a lot less of the “wacky” consent issues we saw in prior volumes. When she acts relatively normal, she and Miyamura remind you why we loved this manga in the first place. That said, it really does not appear to be headed towards any specific conclusion. How long will it go on? – Sean Gaffney
Levius/est, Vol. 1 | By Haruhisa Nakata | Viz Media – I probably should have read the Levius omnibus before picking up Levius/est. As far as I can tell, the first volume is mostly a recap of the original series told at an astonishingly breakneck speed. (Levius ended prematurely when Ikki ceased publication; Nakahata essentially had to restart the series in a new magazine, Ultra Jump.) It’s admittedly impressive how much ground Nakata manages to cover in such a short span, but I’m hoping that Levius/est finds a more sustainable and enjoyable pace soon. I want to see the mixed martial arts matches between cyborgs that will either save or destroy the world. I want a chance to actually get to know the characters beyond a surface-level lightning overview of their tragic backstories. I want the worldbuilding to not need to rely on heavy-handed exposition. Right now, Levius/est‘s greatest strength is Nakata’s stylish artwork, but something more would be welcomed. – Ash Brown
Magus of the Library, Vol. 2 | By Mitsu Izumi | Kodansha Comics – Having enjoyed the first volume of Magus of the Library, I was looking forward to the second, even if the series is not always the most subtle of works narratively speaking. But I can’t help but love the underlying message of libraries (reading in generally, really) as a method of gaining knowledge, expanding one’s horizons, and developing empathy for others. At the same time, the work acknowledges the potential harm the written word can cause depending on its use. As a librarian, I can especially appreciate Izumi incorporating real-world social, economic, and political concerns surrounding libraries (fairly accurately, actually, although with simplification) into the fantasy setting of Magus of the Library. Other related areas the second volume of the series specifically addresses include bookselling and bookbinding. The volume also serves as something like a travelogue and introduces new characters destined, I’m sure, to become Theo’s cohorts in training at the Central Library. – Ash Brown
Murcielago, Vol. 13 | By Yoshimurakana | Yen Press – OK, the master swordsman arc did not finish off quite as fast as I’d hoped, but that’s fine, as it gives us a chance to see Kuroko in action some more (and still really struggling, which is cool), as well as Himiko’s dynamic entrance in her car, always a treat. After that’s resolved, we start a sequel arc, as Goldmarie’s body is not lying mouldering in the grave as it should be, but has gone missing. And now there’s a bunch of murders happening in and around the sewers, which gives the artist another chance to lovingly depict a lot of corpses and gore. Murcielago is never going to be children’s entertainment, but it’s a lot of fun provided ultraviolent lesbians are your bag. – Sean Gaffney
My Hero Academia, Vol. 23 | By Kohei Horikoshi | Viz Media – So Izuku has multiple powers now. That said, he’s still having trouble learni8ng about them at all, so has to finish the fight quirkless. Honestly, Uraraka is the MVP of this battle, and there’s some nice ship tease with her and Izuku as my reward. After that, we switch over to the dark side of the cast—it even gets pointed out, with one chapter being called “My Villain Academia,” and a heavier focus on the League of Villains, who are falling on hard times at the moment. Things are not helped by a new, more corporate set of villains trying to get their foot in the door, and the volume ends with a confrontation. This has become one of the biggest Jump series, and it’s well deserved. – Sean Gaffney
My Hero Academia, Vol. 23 | By Kohei Horikoshi | VIZ Media – There is so much going on in this volume. As the battle training with class B comes to a close, Midoriya learns that he will eventually inherit six additional quirks from past wielders of One for All and Shinso gets to use his power to save someone and earns admission into the hero course. Mina gets a couple of badass panels while Uraraka gets several (as well as a rare smile from Aizawa). I love how much Aizawa has taken Shinso under his wing as well as a glimpse and a reference to someone he and Mic knew when they were students, a boy called Shirakumo. We also meet the Meta Liberation Army, who are determined to take down the League of Villains. Todoroki and Bakugo get their provisional hero licenses and we learn a little of Shigaraki’s backstory. Phew! I love this series so much. – Michelle Smith
My Hero Academia: Smash!!, Vol. 3 | By Hirofumi Neda| Viz Media – Again, I like how this gag series is handled. It’s character-based exaggeration, but it also follows the main storyline for the most part, so it can use multiple modes of humor. It’s also not above pointing out its own flaws—when Momo is lacking confidence, Eraserhead tells her to spend a week living with Uraraka, and the latter is quick to point out that “my poverty being of service to you” is offensive. Of course, the series is also not above mocking her love of rich person’s food over and over again, so. We even get a good look at the league of villains here, and they’re just as goofy. This is still a lot of fun. – Sean Gaffney
The Quintessential Quintuplets, Vol. 7 | By Negi Haruba | Kodansha Comics – Somehow I missed reviewing the sixth volume of this series, and it’s a shame, as the seventh book is fantastic, possibly the highlight of the series in general. After spending about half of it leading up to the exams, and reminding us what’s at stake, we see the girls taking them one by one, each flashing back to their own issues and challenges—the biggest of which may be Yotsuba’s, as she reveals she’s the one who failed the makeup exam at their old school, and the others left with her in solidarity. The results are brought off perfectly, but Nino is saved for last, and she’s the one who gets the best part, right at the end. Still one of the best romantic comedy manga we’ve seen in some time. – Sean Gaffney
The Way of the Househusband, Vol. 2 | By Kousuke Oono | Viz Media – There’s not really much here in plot or characterization beyond the surface. But when the surface is this, you absolutely don’t care. Househusband is all about style, and in that the book succeeds dramatically. I liked that it featured his wife a bit more in the various chapters, and you can see why he loves her. Everyone keeps mistaking him for doing horrible yakuza deals, even when he’s pushing spices for birthday parties. That said, you really can’t blame them given he’s also pushing his yakuza thoughts into his everyday life, such as the yoga poses, which was absolutely hilarious. We also meet his wife’s family, and their desperate attempts at bonding, which they do after a fashion. This is a whole lot of fun. – Sean Gaffney
Yona of the Dawn, Vol. 22 | By Mizuho Kusanagi | VIZ Media – This volume begins with the aftermath of the adventure in Sei, with Lady Riri dealing with the gratitude of her people, which she doesn’t feel she’s earned; Hak reflecting on adolescent memories of Su-Won, whose ability to see the world impartially means he has no special attachment to anyone; and the Four Dragons working to get back a hairpin for Yona that Su-Won gave her. Then we’re off to another adventure in a foreign land. One of the princesses of Xing is sure they’re Kohka’s next target for expansion and proposes war while her younger sister proposes preemptive surrender in order to save lives. Would-be assassins raid the latter’s compound, where there are a couple of badass fighters and lots of kitties. It’s very much a transitional volume, but still quite good. I’m always bummed whenever I run out of Yona to read. = Michelle Smith

Arc Thoughts: Extermination
Hoo boy, what an Arc.
Where I felt that Arc 7 lacked a true climax, Arc 8 feels like a climax as a whole. This genuinely feels like a point where you could believably say “End of Part 1”.
Pretty much everything was really well written. Yes, that includes 8.3 - a chapter that was so thoroughly hopeless that I started talking about potentially quitting down the line if that became the norm. Now, looking back, I see reason to the hopelessness: They were legitimately fighting a hopeless battle, so Wildbow started establishing that feeling from the beginning. Is it not good writing to be able to put the reader into a state of mind that matches the situation like that?
Similarly, Wildbow pulled off one of the most effective false deaths I’ve ever seen in a work of fiction. I think the key was that Interlude 8a was written like a real death chapter, an effective one at that, to the extent that even though we didn’t see the “body”, I was far more sold on her death than Taylor was once we actually had the armbands reporting her name. (Incidentally, the armbands getting DDoSed was a fantastic way to preserve the ambiguity.) Taylor’s uncertainty also helped to make it not feel like a cop-out when Tattletale turned out to be alive.
Honestly, I should probably have known Taylor was right. She tends to be. :P
And then there’s Armmaster’s shenanigans. Pride goeth before the fall, and Armmaster fell hard. Featuring a fantastic parlor scene run beautifully by Tattletale.
The Arc title
Usually these are too obtuse for me to figure out without help (”Shell” being a notable exception), but I think this time it’s pretty obvious. Lots of people just got exterminated by the Daleks Leviathan. What more is there to say?
I guess there could still be more layers to it, like to Leviathan, but I don’t have a nanotech Halberd.
Prediction review
Alright, so we’ve got two sets of predictions to go through here.
Let’s start with the predictions from the previous Arc Thoughts post:
The obvious one: Much of the city’s honorable cape population will band together to take down the Endbringer.
Check.
There will probably be a lot of death and destruction before they succeed, possibly including already named characters.
Check as fuck.
In particular, I’m a bit worried for Danny’s safety - Wildbow could get a lot of angst mileage from killing him off right now.
This one’s still up in the air. That fact leads me to believe he’s alright, besides the psychological results of still not having seen Taylor two weeks after a fucking Endbringer attack.
On a brighter note, I think the experience will cause Taylor to ultimately change her mind about leaving the Undersiders. We’ll also likely find out what the Undersiders ultimately decide to do regarding Coil’s offer and their existing arrangement. I’m no longer certain what they’ll decide, though I’m slightly leaning towards them accepting the offer.
That damn cliffhanger!
So yeah! Just bring it, Endbringer… wait, bad wor–
Oh, he brought it, alright.
And now for the closing post of 8.1. You may remember this as the time I bummed myself out by trying to speculate on who would die. Let’s see how wrong I was, shall we?
Armsmaster, for one, has a huge death flag. As far as Brockton Bay is concerned, he’s practically retiring in dishonor anyway, most likely exiting the story for good (except maybe a very occasional guest appearance). As such, there’s no reason for him to not end up dying in this battle, possibly heroically to make up for his dishonor.
Ahahaha! This must’ve been rich to read, knowing what was ahead.
I mean he’s still most likely exiting the story, but he’s retiring in far more dishonor, and probably a one-way elevator.
There’s also a risk of something similar with Aegis.
I can’t believe I predicted Aegis’ death. I think I must’ve forgotten about his power for a second back when I was writing this, because I was certainly surprised when he died.
Taylor, obviously, needs to survive if she’s going to keep being the POV character and narrator,
Which apparently wasn’t the plan!
but I’m not sure I’d assume the same plot armor for all of the Undersiders. One in four is a scary ratio when we’ve got exactly four of the main protagonists here.
Oh yeah, that’s another reason why I was so sold on Tattle’s death. And then after 8.7 brought her back, all of a sudden there was Brutus and Judas on the monument in 8.8, bringing us back up to 2/8 Undersiders... dammit.
(Not gonna lie, though, I’d much rather lose Brutus and Judas than Tattletale.)
Anyway, I think if anyone’s going to die among them, Brian is particularly vulnerable, being someone Taylor has built up a strong emotional attachment to (that attachment having been ripped to pieces in the last Arc only makes it worse). Alec is unlikely because he needs more fleshing out. Lisa has some of the same issue as Alec, though not as intensely - we know her a bit better, but I still feel like there’s a lot more to know about Lisa before she gets killed off.
I was wrong about Brian, though I suppose 8.8 helps to confirm that last point about Lisa.
As for the rest, Sundancer is at some risk, though I think Wildbow might want to delve more into the issues in the Travelers at a later date, and Sundancer seems to be his main conduit for doing so.
I really thought she was about to die at one point, but she just went “down” instead.
I’m also thinking at least one of the big shots might go down, to show even more how powerful Leviathan is. Legend and Alexandria are at a fair bit of risk due to their idolization by Taylor, though their status as Triumvirate members ought to protect them somewhat.
One of the asks did mention that Alexandria almost died, though like pretty much every other death here, that was more a quirk of RNG than anything else.
Maybe Myrddin or Chevalier will go down instead - as team leaders, they’re still fairly big shots, just not that big shots.
Nope.
On the other end of the scale, there’s likely cannon fodder such as a whole bunch of thus far unnamed Wards and Protectorate members, Parian, Bambina… Laserdream and/or Shielder might go down too so we’ve got some from New Wave…
Well, one of those, and his dad, I got right, as well as the at the time unnamed cannon fodder.
Basically, lots of people are gonna die and this is getting morbid. I’m beginning to understand Lisa’s reaction in Agitation 3.6.
I had no idea.
Predictions for Arc 9
Arc 9 is largely a mystery for now, due to the cliffhanger in 8.8, but it’ll presumably deal with Taylor setting the first parts of her plan into motion. If Taylor decided to involve the Undersiders in it, we’ll also be dealing with her trying to regain their trust.
There’s also a chance we’ll learn more about Noelle’s situation towards the end of the Arc, given the tendency of Interludes to cover content relevant to the Arcs on both sides.
There’s not much more I can say. Extermination was a good’un. See you soon for the next one!
