Revisiting my love of these Victorian boyfriends/husbands/domestic partners/soulmates has helped me so much through these past few months 💖

Continuing on (slowly) to discover the other Holmes/Watson duos I haven't properly watched/listened to yet...

I've seen this Granada Holmes picture of "two proud dads and their ten adopted children" quite a few times now, thinking this is the way it should be done.

To me Holmes is generally kind man. He helps women who can't pay him. He works wih the Irregulars, who are poor children (SIGN). He takes stories seriously that wouldn't be taken seriously by anyone else (REDH).

But the greatest impression left the adaptations on me. Howard Holmes and Whitehead Holmes (both adaptations by Sheldon Reynolds) have episodes where they just babysit or have children as clients. Richardson Holmes didn't do the best job when adapting Watson, but Holmes is in character.

I really wish there was an adaptation where an openly gay Holmes and his openly bi Watson raise children. Bonus points if Holmes is also portrayed as trans and they have trans children. Victorian setting welcomed.

And yes, Holmes is strange and crazy and nerdy. And yes, Watson is penniless and depressed and womanizing. But in the end and since Watson is an unreliable narrator, I see the potential.

literally watched the first three episodes of this series starring Geoffrey Whitehead as Holmes and I'm already in love. he is so cuddly and good-natured and he LOVES HIS MARMALADE!!

Since I also like the 1954 version, I started watching random episodes of the 1979 series too. Holmes and Watson scenes like this are too cute.

Lately, when I'm not rereading ACD canon, I've been watching Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson (1979-1980) with Geoffrey Whitehead as Holmes and Donald Pickering as Watson. I'll probably be posting something soon about this series (especially after I properly finish the 1954 Ronald Howard Holmes and H. Marion Crawford Watson one since some of the stories overlap and I want to compare since I do enjoy them too).

They're such an underrated, good looking pair, even if Holmes wearing his deerstalker and tweeds in town (do you see all the patterns on that man omg) is so silly when you see him in a group of other characters.

It's been a delight to watch. There are playlists on youtube with the episodes in lower quality and two parts or the better quality but the audio momentarily lapses into German, if you don't mind.

BUT SERIOUSLY: HOW CAN I BE NORMAL WHEN HOLMES LOOKS LIKE THIS?

I thought I'd share a moment from the Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson series I've been enjoying. This is from "Murder on a Midsummer's Eve" where our two cuties are having breakfast together.

Watson (Donald Pickering) is enjoying his toast.

When Holmes (Geoffrey Whitehead) asks for marmalade.

Watson points out that this answer is not a hard deduction.

Watson suggests an alternative.

But Sherlock really wanted marmalade and is sad.
