Hello!

I have been hoping there is a fun/funny GO fic out there somewhere like the Indiana Jones / Raiders of the Lost Ark / Temple of Doom / (etc.) movies? I've seen different events that use movies as a jumping-off point, and I am hoping someone has come across something with this feel, if not Good Omens characters inserted into the original roles.

Thanks in advance, and please disregard this if there is already info on the blog about it that I missed or haven't dug deep enough into yet to see. (I'm still digging.)

Pimpernel Fell by Eigon (G)

I really enjoyed "It's not the Years, it's the Milage" by MovesLikeBucky – which has Aziraphale and Crowley taking the parts of Indy and Marion in the first Indiana Jones film. But before Indiana Jones, there was Pimpernel Smith, a 1941 film starring Leslie Howard, playing an archaeology professor who rescued intellectuals from the Nazis just before the Second World War. I didn't want to make Aziraphale into an archaeology professor, but the antiquarian book trade was Europe-wide at the time, so that's what I started with. The plot of the film doesn't really work without the archaeology students and the romance sub-plot, and I changed the order of the escapes (and added a couple), but I did use quite a few characters from the film, like General von Graum, who is great fun to write dialogue for. The story is set in the spring of 1937.

The end of the world by probably_publius (T)

Crowley and Aziraphale were able to stop The End of the World, but didn't see what would come afterwards. Aziraphale has lost his memory, and Crowley doesn't know if it's Heaven or Hell or something else entirely. All he can do is try and help Aziraphale regain an idea of who he is by telling him stories from their past together. I had a dream where I was watching season 2 and wrote this.

“Dr. Fell,” says the first, “your specialty is religious artifacts, is it not?” “More or less,” Aziraphale says, fidgeting with his hands. “Then you’re just the person we need,” the second agent says as he pulls out a few leaves of paper.  “Our latest field reports put them somewhere called Tanis.  We know from the information we’ve intercepted that they’re searching specifically for religious artifacts, but other than that we haven’t the foggiest idea what it is they’re looking for.” The first takes a sip from his glass of water, then pointedly stares at Aziraphale.  “Any idea what it might be?”  They stare Aziraphale down like it’s an interrogation.  Like a test he hasn’t studied for.  Like any of his meetings with Gabriel. Aziraphale freezes in his seat. Centuries - millennia, even - have passed since he last saw the Ark.  Since he had walked with the slaves through all of that pain and suffering; tried to be a helping hand to Moses.  He had been there when it was constructed, when the tablets were laid inside.  He knew its power.  He’d seen it. He hadn’t been there when it was lost.  Had he known it would be, he would have destroyed it himself.

"I've missed you so much, Angel" 🍎🥺 My Egyptian Crowley variation, inspired by @whiteleyfoster 's fantastic fancomic The Omens of Egypt (formerly Prince of Omens) 🍎🐍 . You never know when a childhood reenactment of an Egyptian Queen (Nefertari was my main inspiration for this costume) is gonna come in handy, and fortunately it mostly fits and looks quite similar to the second outfit that Egyptian Crowley wears in the comic 😁 I photoshopped the white into black, obviously xD I left the belt in red rather than gold, though, I think it contrasts quite well with the black and the red of the hair.

I know I'm a bit behind with my podfics (again 🙄), but I'm a bit sick and my voice has sounded awful all week. I'm really sorry, but I did record a bit of "Innocent Monsters" today and hope to finish the chapter tomorrow or on Monday.

But I did write something instead - my first own fic in maybe 20 years or so.

Summary:

This work is very loosely inspired by the wonderful comic "Jazz Baby" by WhiteleyFoster and "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Crowley and Aziraphale meet in 1923 at a party, which they both attend due to an assignment from their respective head offices. Crowley is having a bad night, Aziraphale still feels bad about the Holy Water argument, neither is in a party mood. So they take off together to make a memory that will remain precious to them both for the rest of their lives.

Unfortunately, the more time that Aziraphale spends with the humans, and the more drunken letters he writes to his absent “husband”, the more he discovers the darker undertones to the era he thought he fitted right into. Eventually, he begins to spiral into questioning his own loyalties, and he desperately needs somebody to save him. It’s rather ironic that the only person who can is a demon, and one which Aziraphale hasn’t seen for over 70 years. Alternatively, the author watched Michael Sheen in Bright Young Things and you know what that means… (Aziraphale in makeup? Yes please).
