say what you will about chapters 261 and 262 (and there's a lot to say about them!) but the sudden turn against kainess is curious to me because kaiser has been a bully since his introduction. kaiser's hostility to the people around him and tendency to degrade others to prop up his own self-esteem are and always have been some of his strongest character traits. and his mistreatment of ness specifically, as well as ness' simpering acceptance of it, is nothing new. I understand why the revelation that kaiser intentionally sought out someone he considered emotionally vulnerable to make into his yes-man and "dog" makes people uncomfortable, but is it surprising? was it better when kaiser was pulling ness around by the hair and and splashing drinks in his face without insight into how kaiser justifies those actions to himself? did you think ness was exempt from kaiser's hostility and desire for control?

I don't like how the Jancy fight got resolved here. Basically, Jonathan said it was okay for Nancy to be an ass to him about his financial situation because she was ultimately right. His problems got never addressed by the narrative because, yes, Nancy was right about the story, but Jonathan wasn't in the wrong either to call her out on her privileges. Unfortunately, Karen's pep talk prior to that did nothing but reinforce Nancy's behavior because ultimately Karen told her to keep going no matter who you hurt. Nancy didn't get a chance to grow because the show treats her as someone who can't do wrong. She still doesn't understand Jonathan and his struggles, and the show doesn't care either for this.
Neither of them really apologized. Nancy said she didn't mean it but couldn't say sorry, and Jonathan abolved her from it because in his mind, he deserved it. And definitely, the icing on the cake was Nancy's comment about him "better not doubting her ever again," destroying the small apology she gave. Again, showcasing she didn't learn or grew from this fight/situation.

i realized i never gave you guys a tour of the horrors which are in my backyard!
number one: the soil tiller!
literally what you picture when you think of tetanus.
number two: the hole!
i have had multiple people ask me whether or not we were gonna bury people in it.
number three: the actual woodchipper!
honestly we should probably put more effort into childproofing things like that.
number four: that random pile of miscellanious chunks of concrete and stone!
there's more underneath the dead leaves and weeds. it's like three feet tall and 15 feet long and four feet wide.
number five: the doorstep without a door!
not included are: the narnia lamppost, the several gallons of non-childproofed gasoline, the junk yard, the ex-garden/reclaimed-by-nature spot, Mount Doom, the door to nowhere, that random stack of bricks, and the train tracks.

Still confused how being raised in a religious background causes 'lesbians' to sleep with moids outside of marriage... Nobody at my church was promoting premarital sex and fornication.
I'll wait for the 'lesbians' to explain that logic.
how does being told repeatedly that being same-sex attracted will cause u to burn in hell for eternity make someone do whatever it takes to try to “fix” their same-sex attraction? idk seems blatantly obvious to me

Hey do you think Jamil has trouble seeing people his age as peers?
Like, growing up having to be a caretaker to a guy literally a few months older than him, always expected to act like the adult in the situation, expected to work with adults and adopt their perspectives and pick up their slack. Do you think he just, forgets sometimes?
I mean we've seen him go into caretaker mode with other sophomores, and the only people I've seen him take seriously are juniors like Vil who also act much older than they should have to (his reactions to Leona look more like a trauma response and I don't wanna get into it here). People like Malleus and Cater still somewhat get the caretaker treatment. Like I just highly doubt that he subconsciously realizes he's actually part of his age group
Aaand that inevitably brings up Azul, who also acts like he thinks he's older than he is. Whether you're looking at it from a shipping angle or not, he reacts to Azul like an actual peer. With older students, he seems more in his element but there's still a status hierarchy which he compulsively reacts to. With Azul he doesn't acknowledge any status worth respecting or see him as someone who needs to be looked after. He just bickers like an equal, in a way that implies he actually does see Azul as a real peer, like subconsciously he's categorized this guy into the same group as himself, who was previously alone on that level (he gets like this more with the twins too, over time, but it seems to start with Azul).
And my favorite part about this is, while that response stems from them both acting more like adults in general, they elicit a pettiness from each other which drags them both down to actually acting their own age, and I just love that. Their characters are perfect foils for each other and it seems to make them both less isolated in a way.

my second favourite thing in the world is a character who is, quite simply, The Most Powerful. The Most Capable. The One With No Equal. the burden of being the hope of your allies, and the fear of your enemies. the way that affords no room for fucking up, but you do fuck up, because you are human, and the consequences for fucking up are always significantly worse. and you bear the burden alone, because the entire world knows that you could have prevented it. you know that you could have prevented it. and you didn't, and so it's your fault.
my favourite thing in the world is the character that looks at this character and decides, then i will become your equal.

You know. One of the coolest (to me personally, that is) ideas I've ever had about long lived races like elves or dragons with human intelligence was how to reconcile the rate of maturity with, well, the construct of time. And I thought it'd be so cool that rather than have the 200 year old elf act like a 12 year old in all areas of life, you'd have a 200 year old elf who has 200 years of knowledge and experience and memories all stored up in that brain of theirs, except that their emotional and social development are still equivalent to that of a 12 year old human. Not because there's something wrong with them but because even though they know all that stuff, they still can't grasp the fundamentals despite being told what to do for 2 centuries and also their own bodies are not cooperating. But this is normal, of course, and none of the long-lived races look down on someone being 200 and acting a little immature even if they're super smart. Though the poor dragon who might get abandoned and raised amongst humans might also get so frustrated with themselves for being unable to be as "mature" or "friendly" as their peers, even if they're smarter or more powerful. I mean, imagine races of people whose intellectual maturity and/or wisdom didn't match their social and/or emotional maturity, right?

can one of you f1 girlies become a journalist and interview the drivers who refused to take a knee because they wanted to fight racism in a different way/disagreed with how blm went about seeking justice and ask them, now that nearly 3 years have passed since the may protests, what steps they've taken to educate themselves on racism? what actions they've taken to improve things for people of colour within formula one/motorsports as a whole? or how they've gone about promoting racial equity in their own country?
