my ideal black sails black sails fanfic would have flint being a time lord who escaped from gallifrey using a chameleon arc like the master did but silver finds his fob watch in episode 1 w the urca schedule and keeps it & flint doesn't realize it's missing bc he doesn't remember it exists and silver spends the whole show trying to open it & forgets he stole it from flint and thinks he's always had it and then in s4 once madi 'dies' silver does actually get it open somehow (maybe he thinks it belongs to him so much & he's so much like flint now that the watch can't tell the difference) and he Becomes a time lord in the last few episodes & it doesn't change anything except now he's stolen flint's identity as well as his life and and parasitism! and also he's immortal now but still stuck on earth for forever

I hope so badly we learn what some of the Circular Gallifreyan nail art on Ncuti’s fingernails says. Does the Doctor have the same words/phrases on his hands the whole time or will it be something he keeps changing? How does he get the nail art done? Or is this a “Yes, David regenerated with gel in his hair and Jodie regenerated with brunette hair dyed blonde, don’t worry about it” situation

The Doctor's name
Yesterday i had an epiphany.
I was re-watching Doctor Who, for like the 4th time and then, just like that, i came up with this absurde but brilliant theory: we actually know his name.
Spoiler alert
Years ago i read a theory about why in the episode "school reunion" (ss3, ep3) the Doctor repeats the world 'physics' so much. We know that the TARDIS can't translate the language of Gallifrey. But people have to understand what he is saying(in this case the students). Being unable to translate what he was actually saying(for the language and the complexity of the argument) she translated it with something more simple: physics.
Somewhere along the history, it was revealed the name the Doctor used in academy, Theta Sigma. I don't think it is his actual name, because then everyone can know it and use it.
Also, the Doctor himself said that ONLY children can understand his real name.
If you connect the dots, it is really, really simple.
When in the the 11episode of the 10season, Missy says "Doctor who" is the Doctro's name, it's because it fucking is!!
The TARDIS can't translate gallifreyan(?)for reasons. So when the Doctor says his name is The Doctor, he IS saying his name.
It is the same principle like with "physics": he IS saying something, maybe in gallifreyan, but the TARDIS makes it something else, something simple for us to understand. So, the same happens with the Doctor's name: it is translated into something we can understand, something that is near to our translation. The Doctor.
Children know his name, they understand it, they say it. It's just we can't understand it. We can't because....just because!! It is against the law.
Everyone knows his name, but it is different because that's what we hear when he says it!
~
"Who are you?"
"I'm the Doctor"
"Doctor who?"
"Just, just THE DOCTOR"
~
Always Missy, she says that he eliminated "who" from his name (so originally it was The Doctor Who) cause he didn't like it.
So,as the example above, he is correcting us on his name. His actual name, cause he erased Who.
In conclusion, i hope it makes sense, aaaaand WE ALWAYS HAD HIS NAME UNDER OUR NOSE!!!!
WE ARE SOOO STUPID.

Doctor: Huh, is that who I am now?
Donna: It was never that far from the surface, mate.
Doctor: frowns Yes, it was! You know I used to be a woman. And that made people... assume all sorts of stuff. And - and pretending to be Graham's wife for five minutes was bad enough but - Byron? That was torture. Does the man ever stop talking?
Donna: Takes one to know one
Doctor: Oi! I just mean, there were all these men people assumed I would be into and I - and I just - I just wanted -
Donna: I know, darling.
Doctor: softly I just wanted Yaz.
Donna: I know. - There was one man, though, remember?
Doctor: No, there wasn't! I don't fancy the Master!
Donna: ...
Doctor: Okay, fine. But the Master isn't a man. He's like me! Flexible - uh - timelord gender and stuff.
Donna: Sure.
Doctor: So, anyway, I have always been primarily into wom-
Donna: What about Jack Harkness?
Doctor: - Jack doesn't count, everyone fancies Jack.
Donna: ...fair enough.

such a sucker for characters with memory loss but who end up still being influenced by the memories they've lost
like
donna holding baby rose for the first time and thinking "it's good to be a mother again." and she has to stop and figure out where that came from because she's never been a mother before. all the baby stuff, changing diapers, feeding, how to comfort them, hold them, etc being so easy for donna in a way that isn't typical of first time mothers
rose coming out to her mother as trans and wanting to change her name and donna suggesting "rose" without a second thought and when rose asks why that name, donna can't say. "guess i used to know someone with that name?" is all she can come up with and she thinks she did know a girl named rose, but she can't remember and it's really not all that important because rose is trying out her new name in the mirror and deciding that it's perfect
