well, guess who lost control of my hands again and was compelled to scribble down designs for ANOTHER Deltarune AU? yeah. me. it doesn't really have a proper name yet so I've just been calling it Changeling AU for now, I'll figure that out later.
these would be the cast's dark world designs; they parallel early Deltarune concepts in which the lightners would turn into monsters in the dark world-- with a few medieval fantasy fae-flavored twists this time around. mortals become a variety of magical beasts in the fae's dark realm, with only 'Kris' strangely unaffected... aside from the hue shift and conspicuously pointed ears, that is.
the main 'Kris' of this AU isn't the only human in town. instead, they're ironically the only one in town who ISN'T human, though not even they know it yet. in reality they're a Changeling, a fae creature that was left as a 'gift' to replace a taken human child. they can do things, strange things. animals come to them in the night, and the cool touch of iron burns their skin. they're afraid of what they see in the mirror; human eyes don't gleam in the dark, and their teeth shouldn't be so sharp. so they hide their features, and they ignore the whispers of the townsfolk, and they keep their head down.
they made a mistake, a terrible one... and they need to set it right.
meanwhile, the human they replaced is still out there somewhere in the fae world, twisted by its curse into a cornered, desperate beast seeking any escape from the realm that has held them prisoner all their life. it's said that when the full moon casts deep shadows over the woods, you can still hear their anguished howls in the dark begging for the name that once was theirs. they can never leave the dark world without it. they'd do anything to get it back.
all they've ever really wanted was to find their way home.

Uuuuhh, tw for suicidal ideation whoops
After Marineford and the payback war, marco keeps a small box in the back of the bottom drawer of his dresser on Sphinx.
There's a set of seastone jewelry inside. A bangle bracelet, a few rings, an armband. It jangles around loosely inside the box, but the sound is muffled by the clothing that sits on top of it.
For a year and a half after Marineford and the payback war, the box sat there. A distant and forgettable friend, out of sight and out of mind.
After Wano, while enjoying Shanks' company on the Red Force, he had totally forgotten it was there.
After returning home and finding Sphinx defended and safe, and paying back the idiot who claims Whitebeard as a biological father, the siren call starts up. The world is changing and if things go the way Luffy seems to intend them...
Well, Sphinx probably won't need him after that. Doctors aren't rare, after all, and Devil Fruit have their ways of getting back into the world after their previous user is gone. Some days he never spares a thought for the box. Some days it's all he can do to not lock himself into his house with the box in his lap. He never opens it, but he jostles it purposefully to hear the metal rings and bracelets ding off each other-music to his tired soul.
He thinks about the box, and the ocean. He knows what being stabbed feels like, knows what it is to die to guns and cannonballs and burns and dismemberment. He knows what a heart pumping nothing but air feels like, knows what poison does to the guts and lungs, knows what sleep unending sounds like when it chases away what he can see.
He's never known drowning-the one thing that would be permanently fatal to him. He's heard stories, seen it's affects on others, but never has he actually gone into the water in a dangerous manner. He thinks about the waterfall, and the ocean around Sphinx. Thinks about the cliff that Ace and Pop's grave overlook that paint such a beautiful picture of the sea.
Some days he sits, box in his lap, and wonders.
Some especially bad days, he wonders and then supposes to himself he'll just have to see how the final battle goes and how hard Luffy will need him to fight.

drop this in the inbox of someone you'd like to know more about!
As for the owner of this inbox, if you are comfortable in doing so, take a moment to brag about something! An interest, a hobby, a random skill you hardly get to talk about-whatever you'd like!
Idk I just think more people deserve to appreciate themselves a bit <333
You're awesome, btw :D
ooooh, okay i hate bragging because it makes me feel like a show-off, but since i have gotten permission to brag, i’ll do it!!
let’s see……

ah yes, my ballet life.
I am no longer a ballerina, buuuut…I did a lot of cool things when I was one! When I was 10-11 I competed with my school in the Youth America Grand Prix (a ballet competition), and the first year i broke my elbow THREE DAYS before show but the second year I got to do all my performances!! In middle school my studio (a different one, yes i went to five different studios lmao) had RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) exams every year and our classes learned a syllabus to show for the exam. basically it’s doing a ballet class in front of an examiner and getting scored for it. I also did six years of pointe (which killed my feet but we ball) and last year i was a demonstrator (basically TA) for a pointe class with younger teens.
I obviously couldn’t do this forever, I want to put all my focus into school now and I slowed my ballet life down a couple years ago (covid didn’t help at all either) but I have so many memories from this experience I will keep with me. 😌
…
Anywhooo….
ZINGA-DINGDING!
i’m awesome?? no u!!!!

Me: grew up isolated by mountains, in a city with a population under two hundred thousand (at the time, though it has grown), where you had to drive five hundred miles to get to the next metropolis, constantly worried that I was missing out on the world, living vicariously through touring bands that passed through my town and played shows for gas money.
The song Drugstore Perfume from Hesitant Alien was like a lifeline fore me.
Me now: Buying a house in a small town in New Jersey.
You always grow up to become your mother, don't you?
