Some good parts of being nonverbal :)
(In my experience!)
I can have an AAC device and decorate it however I want, and represent who I am by decorating things about me on it
I have a community of other nonverbal/nonspeaking people who I can relate to for a lot of things
I can do fun activities with my speech and language therapist, and have a lot of fun 1-1 time with adults/therapists which if I was not disabled I would not have
It is easier to be eligible for services I need (but this is also quite sad and I wish that people who have a lot of needs but are fully verbal also got services they need because sometimes people get rejected because they can speak!!)
Because it takes me extra long to communicate with words by using a device, I have more time to think about what I'm saying and less likely to impulsively say something bad
Cats can't speak, so then it makes me one step closer to being like a cat! I love cats

[!] New Objective:
Before posting in the #timkon tag:
List three (3) facts about Kon-El (Conner Kent) that are not related to Tim Drake or Lex Luthor.
(challenge) List these facts without mentioning other members of Young Justice.
(challenge) List these facts with actual detail (ex: "his leather jacket was the first possession he ever owned") instead of being incredibly vague (ex: "he wears a leather jacket").
(challenge) Spell his name correctly (Kon-El or Conner Kent).

I would be the Witch’s number one apologist, if i thought she had done anything deserving of an apology. Sadly many people dont agree with this view, so im her defence lawyer instead (shes innocent trust me)
“But the Witch killed Arthur?” Yes, but you see he had forced his way into her home and while we the audience know that the princes maggots transformed into bugs, for all she knows hes murdered her children. Arthurs has killed people for far less

seeing people claim that lucanis is 'bad representation' is hilarious to me because in so many ways he's really the closest anything has ever gotten to capturing my own personal experience. sorry for being bad real life queer and mental health/neurodiversity representation folks 😔 I'll take time to reflect and do some work on myself and try to do better in the future

Things that I know.
1. Yaoi is the opposite of yuri
2. According to tumblr, yuri seems to be just about anything, but I have most commonly seen it take the form of two inanimate objects in close proximity to one another. Eg minecraft furnace and crafting table, trains crashing into each other, etc.
Therefore, we can conclude that Yaoi is two inanimate objects that are very far apart from each other. The sun and the earth are yaoi.

Hi! Whenever you can do you mind giving me some examples of Capella’s racism and misogyny in classic? Thank you!!!
I'm curious about what you've seen that led to you asking me this question? I have an answer but I always like to know the context. I'll take any opportunity to ramble on about Capella nonetheless.
To answer it briefly, the most clear example of her racism would be against Artemy when she says that to everyone he's just an "unlikable savage with backwards ideas," using that point as a way to manipulate him into believing he has no future outside of her [Capella's] plans. I think it captures the irony of her position as the one who is ostensibly supporting the Kin, because she has Artemy as her hero and Taya on her side, and is apparently one who is much more humane than her father and even her brother. Also through Taya we learn that she told her to step aside and not bother the other Mistresses, and Artemy's tone in response is a little reserved and defeated when Taya tells him things "will be better" in my opinion.
As for misogyny, I actually think she possesses a clear analysis of how women are targeted to the Bachelor early when the witch hunts for the shabnak are happening. I think that the whole dichotomy of Mistresses/Rulers is a bit misogynistic because of it disguising the material conditions of the Mistresses, which is that all material power and influence still is in the hands of their husbands and that marital relationship, despite the idea that the husbands are supposedly their actors. However, even though this is a game and exists in the realm of fantasy where the Mistresses' powers are legitimized, they are ironized too by the game itself; Saburov's last conversation with Clara comes to mind (which is another very interesting discussion). So Capella then expanding that by promising that her female Bound will be Mistresses and then setting them up with their male peers in such a way becomes problematic as a method to empower them/the society they represent, the latter of which is something I think she genuinely believes is good.
That's what makes her so fascinating honestly; I can't hate her for any of this, because I think her intentions are good and she's so mature and intelligent, especially considering the adults we deal with, and yet her understanding is nowhere near complete. I don't think she's consciously doing any of these things to be malicious or controlling, or racist and misogynistic. She's very human in that regard.

The thing about Jayce and Mel is that like. She does not view him as an investment. That is just certifiably false. You have to skip over all her scenes to believe that.
In the beginning she does! She absolutely does! She conceives of their relationship as a business one - where she makes profit off his inventions, and he profits from her business and political acumen, both monetarily and powerwise. And overall, she believes she's fulfilled her half of the bargain.
It's only when he comes back to her after Viktor gets sick that she realizes he believes this is something deeper. And it's notable that she responds to that emotion - she opens up about herself too, comforts him, and expresses real emotionality about it. It's then that we see his ideals start to influence her - especially reawakening in her a desire for nonviolence.
Wanting to do things peacefully is something that's been with her since she was a child. It is what guides her away from Noxus, because her pacifism just does not fit there. It's why she loved Piltover so - they aren't a violent expansionist empire, which is a really low bar, but that's what she's grown up in.
She never finds the violence in Zaun, because she never goes looking for it. This is her fault, and her flaw, let me make that clear. She has some of the most power in the city, and should know about what kind of violence is holding up, and work to resolve it, truly. But she doesn't, because she's focused on her own exploits, and has so insulated herself away from the class struggle that it does not register for her until it grows to violence.
And then, once that violence comes, she maintains that pacifism with an iron grip, more than Jayce himself. It is Jayce who constructs (almost) all the HexTech weapons that are used in the Undercity, in Caitlyn's police squadron. He betrays the oaths that he's made to his partner, where Mel keeps the promise she's made to her's. She is the only politician left to try to tamp down on the worst of Ambessa's instincts, and her removal from Piltover is what marks it's descent into militarism.
She is ultimately a complicated woman, with a bunch of interesting relationships to Piltover and Zaun. I think you can divide Piltover as a city neatly between her, Jayce, and Caitlyn - each of them standing for some of Piltover's best instincts, and some of its worst.
#telespeak#mel medarda#jayce talis#It's why I find Mel discourse so tiring. Like.#This is a show full of complicated characters.#If we are willing to look beyond Victor emptying people and Caitlyn becoming a puppet dictator and Jayce literally killing a child#and see them as full and complicated people who are trying their best with worldviews that are influenced by their circumstances#why is she where we stop. I mean I know why. but still.#I don't even like MelJay. But like. It's there for a reason.#sidebar I find the notion that Jayce of all people should hold her accountable for Zaun just. exhausting.#Jayce is a piltoverian through and through. He loves someone from Zaun yes but that relationship is soaked with casual classism#There is a lot to be said about Mel ignoring Zaun! But he does too#it's something she reflects in him#The biggest critique of her arc I have is that someone in Zaun shoud've taken her to task#(My vote is on Vi just because she should get to confront the head of the faceless machine that's produced every tragedy in her life)#(But any Zaunite would do honestly. Just not heckin. Jayce.)#I do want to make a post about how Jayce Mel and Cait kinda cover all of Piltover's values#Cait as their enforcer arm Jayce as their scientist and Mel as their businesswoman/politician#but that's for another post. really this is two posts squeezed into one#I am just exhausting seeing people who do not care about Mel in her tag. Like. She exists outside of JayVik. the show is not subtle with th#arcane
