Lmao well..... I think you saw my previous ask 😂😭 Any theory that says Asch or Lorelei or some weird Luke-Asch personality hybrid or anyone else people come up with that isn't just Luke who comes back at the end. It's gotta be Luke; the narrative just falls apart if it isn't. The other day when I was answering the previous ask looking for your "theory" post again I saw the take (put very simply here) that Abyss is a tragedy, Luke's character is a tragic one, so it makes sense that he ultimately dies and stays dead, and I'm just like.... how?? Genuinely I don't understand how his character arc can possibly be read as that his entire struggle to change and for life was just completely futile in the end and that there was no meaning to any of it all, that's such a downer ending for what is ultimately, despite how much sad shit happens in it, a hopeful story 😭😭😭 (one of the main themes is LITERALLY CALLED MEANING OF BIRTH).

Even putting that aside though, I just feel like it makes even less sense for Asch to come back?? Like, his character arc finished when he died. The whole point is that he remained stagnant the whole game and his tragedy is that he dies that way, while Luke was willing and able to change!! What purpose would it serve narratively to bring him back after his very sad yet satisfying conclusion?? Again, by all means, it makes for juicy AUs, but as canon.... there's no way.

💛: What is a popular ship you just can’t get behind, and why?

....I feel like I'm putting myself in danger answering this when it's coming from you 😂😭 But, well, I'm really not that interested in Luke/Tear lol. By no means do I hate it though, I just don't have any strong feelings towards it either way, and honestly part of that is just because I'm not really a shipper in general lol and nothing to do with them specifically. A lot of people who don't ship it say it's because they see Tear as more of a sister figure to Luke because that's how the game initially presents her as (and with the "big sister" title or whatever it's called), but idk... I honestly can't decide what I see her as to him. They just feel like very close friends to me by the end of the game, I guess, and although I like some of their touching scenes, I never really felt the chemistry between them. I guess it's just hard for me to imagine Luke in a relationship with everything he's going through during the game, and also Tear is pretty bland to me herself so that doesn't help. 😭 I know her Japanese voice is very different from her English one and her English one gets some flak, so maybe that's to blame ugh; maybe if I listened to her in Japanese sometime I would become more endeared to her.

...If I had to pick another one that isn't just the first answer again lol, though this isn't exactly super unpopular, but Abyss is the best game in the Tales series, by a wide, wide margin. Not only do I believe it to be the best Tales game, but one of the best games of all time period, and one of the best stories of all time. Yes, I said what I said, fight me. And it has absolutely nothing to do with nostalgia; I played Abyss on my 3DS around 2014-2015, probably? in my early 20s, so I don't have any special childhood memories of it, nor was it even my first Tales game (Graces holds a special place in my heart for that). I just... played it, and it left such an incredible impact on me that has yet to be beaten by nearly any other media I've ever experienced. I don't know what it is about it that makes it so powerful, but it's true. Don't get me wrong, plenty of other stories have come very close to making me feel the same way..... but none of them have ever quite reached Abyss level.

So yeah, a lot of people agree Abyss is good.... but I still believe that most don't recognize it for the masterpiece it truly is.

💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?

Like I said, I'm really not a shipper lol, but I'm really fond of Guy/Natalia? I just love their scenes together, how respectful and gentlemanly he is towards her, and how her growth is most strongly shown in plenty of her interactions with him; it's so lovely to see. 🥹 and I think about their time spent together post-Eldrant and before the epilogue, them helping each other grieve.... it destroys me so good :' ) they're very sweet together.

I'm watching One piece and just finished Enies Lobby and unpopular opinion: Luffy should have apologized to Usopp too. Yes Usopp took it too far but Luffy did it too.

For starters he refused to EXPLAIN first what was going on with Merry, and kept going "couse i say so" meanwhile Usopp was asking why and the reasons. And ONLY when Usopp begun to shout and was angry, he dropped the worst news in the worst way possible.

On top of that he was also shouting and being violent. And if it was not for Sanji, he almost told Usopp to leave. He was NOT acting like an understanding captain.

And Zoro was wrong too. Because Usopp had all the right to be angry. The Merry was more important to him than to ANYONE of the crew. HE made a PROMISE to Kaya if I remember correctly. So imagine how he must had felt when not only was unable to get the money back but his captain and friend just decide to just buy another ship and doesn't give a reason to that decision.

They should have explained the situation FIRST. And not just when everything exploded. COMMUNICATION.

I don't hate the character architype, oh no.

What I hate are the fanfictions with one of the characters being a Yandere. Especially when it doesn't fit their character in the cannon.

A for instance, for you (because I've seen a weird amount of these): Can you POSSIBLY imagine a realistic instance in which ANY of the Haikyuu!! characters would commit murder because their s/o looked at someone else for five seconds?????

It's fine to assume when nothing is confirmed and it's fine to let your imagination run wild in those cases, but when the characters sexuality is confirmed, it's a little insulting to watch an entire fandom completely ignore it. Alastor is a fun character and I get the appeal, believe me, but idk I find it disrespectful. It's like shipping Angel Dust, who is Gay, completely only into men in a romantic or sexual way, with Cherri Bomb. It just gives me the ick, y'know?

1- Honestly? I absolutely despise Crescent x Palette. This is the one thing I really hate about Crest, him showing romantic love towards a FUCKING MINOR- Otherwise he's a pretty great guy, but did he really have to catch feelings for Palette? He's freaking 25 for fucks sake.

I'm sorry, it's just- ew.. I'm glad he stops hanging out with Crescent but I hate the fact he still does like the priest. Crescent should honestly put his morals before his desires and get rid of his feelings for Palette.

I know I made this ship happen in the Good Ending of Sunflower AU, but it was only for lore purposes for this ending's future arc. Imagine it like a choice in a videogame, that leads to a certain route: Palette chooses Crescent, thus Arti becomes queen and ends up catching the Hanahaki disease, out of her love for Palette. And now Crescent has left too and she can't handle all the stress of being all by herself. And this is where Neon steps in to save Artemis.

Other than that, I absolutely hate this ship and it makes me super uncomfortable. Also one of the reasons why the Good Ending isn't canon.

I feel terrible for making it canon in the good ending but I need that future arc lore man- Or, yk, might change stuff. That seems like the better option.

2-Believe it or not, I actually started to like Killer.

She's portrayed pretty well, and her reactions to trauma seem very realistic to me.

I would react that way if I was tricked that my son was a monster that killed my other son. I would be in shambles mentally and always on guard if I experienced the same traumas Killer did.

While indeed, I don't find her mean comments pleasant, can I really blame her? She never asked to be put in this situation and she was already mentally unstable before Cor.Nightmare suddenly fell for her and forced his way into her.

She's trying to be a good mother to kids that remind her too much of her abuser. (-Merciless I guess.)

Like..damn. This woman has gone through a lot already, she deserves some peace and hope.

OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Yami paired with any of his Black Bull subordinates!! I mean I guess I get it if you don't see him as a parental figure to them, but in my mind, this whole group has Daddy Issues™️ and collectively adopted this man as their father-figure. The idea of adding romance in there just gives me the ick. Especially with Finral...It's just such a personal squick for me that I will just never understand it. Sorry not sorry.

Also, Langris x Mimosa. I do not vibe with that. It's not as visceral as the Yami x a Black Bull ships, but it's just not my cup of tea at all and I genuinely can't imagine them (as I personally perceive them) ever having a romantic interest in each other since she's kind of like a little sister to him in my mind. I know people, including friends, who ship this pairing and I respect that. I've actually read fics about them trying to understand it and the appeal, but ultimately I'm just never going to get this one personally. It's just not for me.

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?

YamiFin. See above. I know a lot of people ship it, including people I know and consider my friends, and I know it is because they view their relationship in a wildly different way than me and do not imagine those paternal, familial vibes between them that I do. Like I said in the disclaimer, I respect their differences of interpretation and opinions, so again nothing against them. For me, however, I personally do not vibe with that ship on every possible level. Again, in my mind, Yami is just such father-figure to him that this is just viscerally a NoTP for me.

Vanessa x Yami is the same way but less intense(?) I guess because she has shown a canonical romantic interest in him at least back when he was the only man she had ever seen... (which doesn't seem healthy, so that's a really big nope for me. Also again with the father-figure vibes!!)

I guess Mimosa x Langris is a NoTP too, but it doesn't give me as much of the personal ick as the Yami ones and I don't think it's that popular, so it feels a little unfair to list them here even if I really, really don't vibe with that one. Still, it's a no for me!

11. Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?

I'm not entirely sure who is unpopular in the fandom at large because I feel like we kind of have our chill, small corner of the BC fandom here and that's where I hang out. I guess I would say Langris because I think he is a pretty dislikable character and even though I feel like most people tolerate him a little more after the Spade Arc, he isn't the most popular when he's really one of my personal favorite characters in the series. I feel like he has a lot of depth to him, and he interests me. I don't excuse his bad behavior or the way he treated his brother, but I think I can understand the why behind his behavior and appreciate that he has been having a good arc. He isn't as terrible of a person as I thought he was in the beginning. Even I used to detest him, but now he's a favorite.

I'm not sure who else is unpopular? Um...I feel like Mimosa gets a lot of undeserved hatred sometimes because of the whole shipping war (which I also don't understand), and that irks me because I think she's actually a pretty cool character and it's not fair that she gets written off and/or disliked for shipping discourse outside of her control. If y'all are so obsessed with her gettting in a relationship with someone who isn't Asta just ship her with Yuno or something I guess??? It's really not that hard! I like her friendship with Klaus and Yuno and her cousin relationship with Noelle a lot. She's also had a good arc! (Sorry that's one wasn't very salty...😅)

This might be unpopular but I do hope that Holland is actually Holland, like idk I feel like if it turns out to be just some other evil thing impersonating Holland that it would be such a cop out but also such an obvious thing. And I found myself liking the messed up dynamic between Kosika and Holland. There is something really fascinating in it where if this is Holland like what are his thoughts about Kosika. And Kosika seeking out Holland is also interesting + her feelings towards her two friends. I don’t remember if it was Rhy or Kell but I had a feeling it was Rhy who had the passage about asking what happens in death… which might end up coming back to explain Holland.

Okay but the baby thing really got my attention because idk if Schwab thought it was something we really wanted to know or if it is something that will play a part later because it doesn’t feel like her style to make Lila change her mind but also everything Lila has said previously also has been pushed so idk… and that fact that we get a scene where she watched Kell interact with his niece and getting told what kind of father Kell would be. Like she says she doesn’t but I felt like other paragraphs kind of let it linger…

And all of this is part of book 1 so there could be little teases of what’s to come. Like all this is to get people set up for the future books. Idk I’m just thinking…

I don't think it's unpopular to want it to be the real Holland :) I am a fan of the "dead character isn't truly dead" trope and after all, we still don't know what happens when an Antari dies or is dying. Kosika saw Holland die, but perhaps death for antari is just passing somewhere else but still existing as lingering magic ✨ 🤔 or Holland is indeed a special case Holland might've been human when he died, but there may still be remnants of magic in him and those may have made it possible for his spirit to survive.

I also like their dynamic, because even if Kosika has Nasi and Lark, Holland is like a mentor older brother and he is the only one who knows how to use her magic. The triangle with Lark and Nasi is interesting because I think it also reflects the situation in Red London with Alucard/Rhy/Nadiya, but in this case it is almost clear that Kosika likes them both so it might turn out into a proper poly relationship 👀 but I think if it does, it may happen later.

As for the baby thing, years ago I joked about Kellila babies lmao because I wasn't sure we would get Threads and because I like to imagine as a shipper. Then Threads gave us this mention, and I don't think it was put there just because. Well aside from pushing Lila to donate her blood to Nadiya and for Nadiya to push her Antari baby agenda, I do think it's a topic that Lila thought about. Her answer seemed final and like you said, if V says that the character thinks she hates this, she doesn't change her mind. However... In Threads we see how much Lila keeps a lot of things to herself and lies by omission. She lied about throwing away the ring, she didn't tell Kell about Kosika, nor her investigation about the Hand, nor how it hurt her to see him like this. She never openly told him her feelings to his face... When Kell and Alucard go to save Lila, Kell is surprised that she had the ring and Alucard tells him: "good thing she lies, then!" So my point is: telling Nadiya that she doesn't like children might be an outright lie she told because one of the things Lila hates is when others try to pry into her life when she isn't willing to share.it might still be the truth, of course. She may also be lying to herself in her pov, because we see how Lila's pov is cryptic. There is a lot of unsaid. That's why I find Lila interesting. 🤔 Also, V throwing married couples around Kellila and doing the ring thing? We have Rhylucard but also the Vasry/Raya on the ship.

I have a... perhaps unpopular opinion among some circles of this fandom, but I think that Aemond was right when he told Rhaena that she should have claimed Vhagar if she wanted her.

Laena died in Pentos, which is four days by ship to King's Landing. (Just a little less to Driftmark.) which means probably less than day or two by dragon to Driftmark, which is about a day by ship to King's Landing.

I imagine it took them at least a day before they left Pentos with Laena's body to go to Driftmark, the girls probably went on ship with their mother's body (Moondancer was too small to ride, according to the books, until the Dance began). And then once on Driftmark, they had to send word to King's Landing (once again by ship), prepare for a funeral (involving creating the casket and carving it), and wait for everyone to arrive.

I think the absolute shortest amount of time between Laena's death and Aemond claiming Vhagar would have to be five days. AND Vhagar followed them to Driftmark from Pentos!

I understand why Rhaena was probably reluctant to claim her literally just deceased mother's dragon, emotionally that's probably so fucking hard to consider doing. It would mean accepting she was gone.

This can be true while also acknowledging that its irresponsible to let an unclaimed dragon just hang out. She probably should have claimed Vhagar before they left Pentos, as there was likely no guarantee that Vhagar would follow them to Driftmark and wait. Its possible Vhagar would have accepted her if she ad approached first! But we'll never know.

So Aemond, being between ten and thirteen years old, probably saw this dragon that had remained unclaimed for nearly a week and decided to risk it after being snubbed by Jace at the wake. (I still think he probably shouldn't have talked so much shit when the kids confronted him, but hey we've all been bullied preteens on a power trip from our first substantial success in life, right? No? Just me?)

Rhaena does get her own dragon eventually (I won't spoil the details on that), at least.

What made you ship it? - They both have very strong chemistry between each other - both Sam and Raiden. I just looked at a few pictures and memes on google, and they made me realize that Sam and Raiden definitely should be together. It also became my comfort pairing, so I could distance myself from my own toxic relationship (fortunately, it is over now). Who would have known that in the end, SamuRaiden and mgr fandom changed my life for good? After so many years of feeling pathetic, feeling that I was not worthy to exist, these two blorbos brought me back to life. I have people to share my thoughts and love about Sam and Raiden, I received so much feedback I never had before. Moreover, I met my bf thanks to this fandom and the pairing, it is more than anything I ever wanted. This means the world to me. Thinking about them being together, loving each other helps me to get distracted from my own self-deprecation.

What are your favorite things about the ship? - Their dynamic, the possibilities of various romance scenarios or even mgr2 plot. Sam and Raiden are so different yet have so much in common, including being rivals who try to fight for different ideals. Sam's charisma is very strong, yet I feel that he has a very deep trauma behind it. It is more of my hcs, and I can relate to him in my own way, considering how I love his theme song that basically opens him up as a character who chose the wrong side. And I see him as a protagonist, more than Raiden, about whom, btw I had a very erroneous view. Fortunately, after playing MGR and MGS2 I know him better. He is a broken man, who may never recover from everything he has been through. If his ambitions require destroying the world - he may go for it, that is why I feel that Sam may be the only one who could stop it. Raiden is an anti-hero, who is not easy to "tame" if I may say so. Yet, I feel that Sam could handle that because he has been through that himself (I presume). This ship may be toxic from different perspectives, but I want it to be healthy and so that characters could heal by complementing each other and teaming up to achieve common goals.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't really know what are the popular opinions about these two. My take is that I probably want to partially avoid Raiden's "unhealthy and toxic" side that would ruin everything because of him acting like an asshole (not the Ripper, rather just the situations when he acts like this) because it feels threatening to me personally. I want him to work through it and be better than this and reach to Sam as much as he reaches to him. So that he would feel more "human" than an augmented cyborg. In my fanfic I question a lot of what is it like to be a human and feel such simple things as love or sympathy (which Raiden never had). I want Raiden to experience it, to endure it as much as Sam. I also want to see his more soft and vulnerable side, when he lets Sam care about him. And the most important, to put the whole relationship in a more realistic perspective, where it is not perfect, where they both have their fears and problems, but they find the strength to carry on together.

Raiden is strong, but inside he is a scared and broken child. He does not know any other ways to protect himself, he is impulsive, filled with anger and hatred towards everyone and everything. He needs psychological help and guidance.

To sum up: SamuRaiden is a ship that changed my life. I love it with my whole heart and I want to think that the love between these two helped them to overcome their demons and have a healthy and more or less happy life. Like what happened to me.

AlexDes (Alex Mercer x Desmond Miles) - Assassin's Creed x Prototype Crossover

What made you ship it? - It was long time ago. I saw some pictures with both of them and it made me melt. I could never imagine that it is possible to make a crossover with hooded guys :D They also made me play Assassin's Creed series and Prototype. Desmond had to become an assassin against his will. He is sick and tired of running away and he just wants to live a normal life. As for Alex..Well..Alex is not a human, he is a virus that took a form of a deceased scientist (as well as his memories). I thought it would be interesting to see how Desmond actually helps him to start everything over and gain more "human" side (again about this, I think I am into this topic too much). Alex is rude, cold and lacks empathy. He wants to know who he really is. His mystery would attract Desmond. They would have to escape their enemies together. That is what it makes this pairing unique to me.

What are your favorite things about this ship? - Alex getting them both into trouble and Desmond getting them out of it. Both of them looking for their purpose, questioning if they should save the world (AC3 ending) or leave it to die (I am not taking Prototype 2 into account because Alex is a complete antagonist in that game). Alex is entertained by Des, he tries to understand him. Also...He has some tendrils that could be used for different purposes... After overcoming some very hard obstacles, their bond just gets stronger and they fall for each other.

Unpopular opinion about this ship

When I was really hard into this ship, there was a part of the fandom who considered it is cool to put Desmond into horrible situations of being assaulted or "consumed" by Alex (I realize this only after all these years and I don't approve that part, fortunately, I haven't met anything connected with it lately). I hate that people try to portray Alex as a predator, and I would prefer not to see it anymore. Also, I don't see him as a bottom (another unpopular opinion).

In conclusion: ProtoCreed has a special place in my heart because it was one of the first fandom ships I got into and produced the content very actively before the end of 2012. I still have some feelings for them, yet I wanna put this ship into more "mature" perspective and make more interesting and realistic scenarios of their relationship development. Many things changed from that old times and I don't really wanna come back there.

Favorite thing about them: His pure of heart, dumb of ass nature... idk! I just feel like his bombastic, friendly personality is so lovable. I was invested in him from the second I met him! He just leaves such an impact with his silly but earnest personality. I love how determined he is, how he's got these big emotions and how much he believes in Blackquill and isn't scared of him one bit even though everyone else is because he sees Blackquill's raw potential. I haven't thought about it in a while so my opinions may have changed a bit idk just read these KRKFNM Second post isn't mine but I did leave a fucking tag essay so there's that. I do plan on replaying Dual Destinies soon to see what I feel about the game after knowing everything I do now, though. Favorite line: idk if it's a favorite line exactly but my favorite moment with him is in Turnabout Academy where he pops out of the art room window and is like "oh it's y'all!! in justice we trust!!" and helps out Athena and Apollo while Athena excitedly greets him n Klav and Apollo are like ??? It's so cute. brOTP: Ummm him with Ema is pretty fun! I want all the detectives to be buddies, and I think that Ema would originally be so pissed off and annoyed by him, but come to appreciate his earnestness and kindness. I think once she cools off and becomes a proper forensic detective she'd mellow out and be much more open to befriending people she works with. I think they'd get along very well. I also like the headcanons where Bobby really looks up to Gumshoe, so I like their dynamic too.

I also think him and Yuty would be fun. I think Nahyuta would be annoyed by Fulbright at first like Ema, though. But Fulbright probably fills a similar environmental niche to Datz, so I think Nahyuta could deal with him eventually. I imagined this scenario (admittedly in a shippy sense-- I think Madhibright is a funny ship and kinda cute, but I don't actually ship it anymore, they're just pals) where they meet post-SOJ and thought it'd be fun. Here's that post I made. OTP: Blackbright, I guess! IDK, I don't ship as much for him as I used to, but this is still my number one. I LOVE their dynamic in DD, I love the possibilities of what a dynamic could be like post-DD had he lived, so on. They're definitely Together but it might be kind of an unlabeled grey area friendship gay thing too. I don't know KRKF but I like them a lot! It's fun. I think they're very cute. nOTP: I dunno. I love giving characters I like Southern accents it's kind of a thing I do if I have an excuse to, lol. It's why like half the Tazmily villagers were written with accents during my Mother 3 fanfic days. I think it suits him, idk why. It's better than the goofy ass voice they gave him in DD 😭 Unpopular opinion: idk. I don't know what people think about him, aside from him being another character the AA subreddit will try to convince you just absolutely sucks. Aside from, like, I don't know, I think it's a bit off sometimes if AUs where Bobby lives that people try to put all the blame for shitty behavior towards Blackquill on the Phantom. I get why, but I think sometimes it's worth examining how his position of power could be harmful to Blackquill regardless of his pure intentions or whatever. He's a cop, after all.

I know some people are uncomfortable with the ethics of a ship with Blackquill while he's still in prison (which is why some folks will specifically only interpret Blackbright as a post-DD thing) but I'm also like. idk I think THAT'S worth examining too! By people smarter than me. I'm not doing it KRKF I just find their dynamics interesting, warts and all.

favorite thing about them: I love everything about Dorothea, so it’s not really possible for me to answer this question in any other way.

least favorite thing about them: Again, I love everything about Dorothea, so it’s kind of hard to answer this question, but I suppose if I had to pick one thing, I really wish a romantic element had not been added into her support chain with Hanneman? I don’t mind it so much with Manuela, but with Hanneman it just feels… weird.

brOTP: I like her relationships with Hubert and Caspar when presented and interpreted as platonic. Her and Bernadetta, too.

OTP: I have a lot of ships for Dorothea. I like her with Sylvain, Ferdinand, Linhardt, Petra, Edelgard, and Ingrid. I don’t think any of these particularly rise above the others.

nOTP: Hanneman, as listed above. While it doesn’t quite rise to the NOTP status, Felix is such a tool to her in their C-support that it kind of baffles me that a romantic resolution is even possible afterwards.

random headcanon: I think she went into the Academy holding negative opinions of a lot more of her noble classmates than what we see displayed in her support chains where she does show antagonism. Considering Dorothea’s backstory, it does make sense? I fully believe that her comment to Linhardt about his sleeping in a public place in their C-support was meant as a dig at him, only for her to be thrown by what, by Imperial nobility standards, was a frankly bizarre response, and that her initially poor opinion of him was further shaken by his consolations and offer to serve as a gossip meat shield in the first half of their B-support. Dimitri pings red flags for her for reasons she doesn’t quite consciously recognize, but it’s enough for her to give him a wide berth. Claude feels so false that she gives him a wide berth, too. Lysithea, who I feel like is tied with Felix as the winner of achievement “Least Popular Student in the Academy” by the end of the year, comes off as a typical high-strung, demanding rich girl who’s never had to deal with the consequences of her sharp tongue and tendency to go from 0 to going for the jugular at any point in her life. Hilda annoys the absolute crap out of Dorothea, and while I imagine Dorothea would understand why Lysithea was Like That once she found out about what the Agarthans did to her, I can’t imagine her ever having a great deal of patience for Hilda. Marianne is spared jaundiced judgments largely because there is plainly something extremely wrong. Annette is spared jaundiced judgments because of her, well, there is absolutely nothing Dorothea can find fault in about Annette.

unpopular opinion: I feel like I am nearly alone in preferring War Phase designs to Three Hopes designs, but same for Dorothea as for all the rest. In her case, it’s not that I actively dislike her Three Hopes design the way I dislike some of the characters’ Three Hopes designs, but it’s so samey that it just feels kind of lazy?

Okay so that SaB S2 ending! The show runner—Eric Heisserer(sp?)—is a big crows fan but he said that they just loved Jessie so much. Alina and she have really become the “bedrock” of their mother show—Shadow and Bone and they had to keep her. I’m sure they had other reasons. One of them being that they know how lame her ending was in book 3 but they’ll never admit that. He also said that Mal needs to go find himself, now that he’s lost his purpose. I laughed because dude, just admit that he had no personality beyond nice guy who helps Alina. Not to mention bland love interest. Finally, he said that regarding Alina’s turn for the dark, the Darkling has been “quite honest with her” about the cost of power and that she’ll realize that everything he’s prophesied that will happen to her very well could come true.

Whatever the reasons behind the change, I’m happy for the change because it opens the door for so much—including Darklina! Just imagine, in S3, as she grapples with the corruption and darkness growing in her, she starts yearning for Aleksander, maybe reluctantly but she still starts looking for him. She could go back to that fountain, hold his ring, visit his old chambers etc etc, thinking about him, what he would say, the advice he’d give and just generally wishing he was there because he’s the only one who truly KNOWS, though she’d never admit her longing. Even if Nikolai is also infected, no one will truly truly know other than Aleksander. It’s the whole no one is like us thing. Think of the possibilities! The angst! The drama! Not to mention the possibility for a darklina endgame! Or do you think they’ll have her overcome that darkness (with or without Aleksander’s help) and ultimately still end up with Mal? I do think that the Darkling will be back because Ben Barnes is the most popular fan favorite on that show even more so than Alina or the crows and besides, it’s canon that he comes back in KoS. But still I think they’ll go for the latter unfortunately and have Mal and Alina reconnect in the end. Eugh. I mean why even keep Mal around? But who knows! I never imagined that they’d change the ending for book 3 so much and hint at a corruption arc for Alina. That’s pretty ballsy! So…maybe? Maybe they’re down for a complete endgame change. I dunno, what do you think?

(Ok weird spoiler alert but spoiler alert for vampire diaries, roswell/roswell new mexico and shadowhunters books and shows ships and endgames. It'll make sense when you read it I promise.)

I think anything is possible. They did drastically change the ending of the third book for the show so that does kind of leave it up in the air. I do think that the showrunners are aware of how unpopular the ending was which likely influenced their decision, of course they can't say that. But I also think they are aware that malina is not a very popular ship that doesn't generate much or any buzz really, not like darklina and other ships on the show do. Its also worth noting that there are other shows that changed the end games from their book counter parts. The Vampire diaries books for example, as written by the og author, ends with stefan and elena together but the show went for a delena endgame, which I believe was the more popular ship. In shadowhunters Luke ends up with Maryse Lightwood in the show but in the books its Jocelyn he ends up with. Then you've got the Roswell books and tv shows who take the cake for swapping ships about all over the place. In the books Max ends up with Liz, Michael with Maria, and Isabel has something going on with Micheal's brother trevor who doesn't appear in the show. There are other love interests in the books that don't show up in the og show as well, nikolas, adam and cameron for example. Then you have the og show where the ships end kind of similar with max and liz, Micheal and maria but Isabel is married to Jesse although similar to isabel and trevor in the books Isabel and jessie though they love each other go their separate ways, there is also a whole romance between Max and Tessa who is a character that was not from the books. Honestly when it comes to the newer Roswell New Mexico series I don't know what's going on with it anymore because I stopped watching it like halfway through season 2, but that adds new ships as well like Alex and Michael. The point is when it comes to shows and ships you never know what they are going to do. Sometimes they stick with the books, sometimes they put characters that are in the books together but in different pairings and sometimes they invent whole new characters to act as love interests.

I don't know whether they will go for a darklina end game but I don't think its out of the question especially if they are going with the corruption arc for Alina. It really could go either way they could have Alina and darkling go down a darker path together but then both redeem themselves at the end by sacrificing themselves for ravka, it could be just Aleks sacrificing himself, it could be that Alina is redeemed and ends up with mal after all, after he's gone off and discovered himself. It really is a anything could go situation so I would say don't give up hope for a darklina endgame. I won't until I see the last scene of the last season.

Irregardless I do think the change at the end of season 2 is going to open the door for alot of darklina content which I am really excited about. I did like what you said about Alina pining for Aleks and revisiting the fountain, the war room, his chambers and playing with his rings, honestly I would love to see that. If she also thinks she keeps seeing him about the place or even dreams about him, it would be even better.

grimora for the ask game !!

Favorite thing about them: I feel like this is cheating because it’s so niche but I love the skeleton hand that rings the bell in the Finale (honestly Grimora’s whole aesthetic in the finale is phenomenal but if I had to narrow it down to one detail it would be that). Also a very small detail but I like how in her idle animations her hands are always folded over her abdomen; reminds me of the way people are laid to rest in coffins and really cements her undead status for me.

Least favorite thing about them: I wish she had some/more lines talking about her subordinates. We really don’t get to know much about how she feels about them which is sad. (I’d say the whole “killing everyone” thing too but… I don’t completely blame her on that one—similar to the other Scrybes’ Batshit Machinations, I can see why she felt like she needed to do it. Not to mention she didn’t technically succeed so I’ll give her a pass (I say that jokingly but holy shit did it catch me off-guard in my first playthrough))

Favorite line: This bit in her boss fight. Absolutely insane mechanic (just killing all of your cards but instead of the PG “turn them into gold” she just casually hands you back their lifeless bodies. Also pretty good foreshadowing in hindsight).

brOTP: I’ve seen a couple of works where Grimora has Royal as her right-hand man and they both get to be pirates together and you guys are absolutely correct. They should get to explore the high seas (or at very least I’d like to imagine Royal spins a lot of tales about his time when he was alive—a lot of which are pretty exaggerated—and she listens and makes sure to write them down regardless).

OTP: Her and any/all of the other Scrybes. She deserves better but the other three immortal shitheads she has to share an archipelago with will have to suffice. I’d say they’re all divorced but that’s probably putting it too simply. It’s more accurate to say they’re all fighting to see who’s the best at inventing a brand new type of complicated relationship. They’re all winning.

(I’ve also seen her paired off with the Woodcarver—not my thing personally, but I think it’s cute)

nOTP: Haven’t seen any Grimora ships that I don’t like honestly. But again I’m not super into shipping so that might be part of why this category has been blank the past couple of times—I’m not seeing many ships so there’s not any for me to report on.

Random headcanon: The dead can’t really “sleep” (and don’t really need to)—they just sort of “fall prone” into a state where they don’t really rest and don’t dream. As a result, a “sleeping” Grimora just looks like a corpse… more like a corpse than usual, anyway (she already rarely breathes and her heartbeat is so slow the event sometimes surprises her, but you know, completely lifeless). This would be disconcerting for the other Scrybes if not for her other far more concerning physiological traits. Like the first time she came to a meeting with her head in her hands—literally—and a needle and thread to sew it back on while the others talked. Not much got done that day.

Unpopular opinion: As much as I wish she did get more screentime I can see why that wasn’t really possible. Inscryption is already a pretty long game as-is, adding a whole card segment for Grimora—while it would be fun DLC—isn’t really feasible in the base game. Having said that, I do still wish we got to know a little more about her, even if it was just via some lines from her subordinates.

Song I associate with them: My knee-jerk is Necromancin Dancin by Bear Ghost just because it’s a batshit ridiculous villain song about the undead (she deserves to be a little more unhinged than how she gets portrayed by a lot of people; just look at the other Scrybes), but for something a little more fittingly melancholic I’d go for Grave Digger by Blues Sarcaceno or Dance While the Sky Crashes Down by Jason Webley.
