Desperate PC Tenno calling for help!
Calling all the tech-savvy players here on Tumblr who may hopefully lend me and tech support a hand. Yes, the situation is that bad. More under the cut to spare a lengthy wall of text!
I've been experiencing totally random and sudden crashes with WF since a month and half, by now.
The game first freezes for less than a minute, then crashes to desktop bringing up the window to report crashes. This happens literally anywhere and anytime in the game. During mission, at the end of the mission, while idling in the Orbiter/base of operations, sitting in the pause menu, checking the settings menu. All kind of possible scenarios. Ah, and DX11 or DX12 make no difference either.
It's driving me - and tech support - insane. Because it is so HARD to pinpoint the root cause! Every log file so far has reported some kind of General Protection Failure (GPF) error followed by different numbers.
I'm running the game on a brand new, pre-built computer from Megaport. Which I moved to from my old potato of a PC back in late November. Specs are the following: Windows 11 Home (build 24H2) Intel Core I7-12700KF, 8x 3.60 Ghz + 4x 2.70 Ghz ASUS Prime Z790-A Wifi DDR5 NVidia GeForce RTX 4070 Dual Palit 12GB 2x 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000 1 TB SSD 1000 Watt PSU
I have done everything tech support has suggested me to do and: - Uninstalled and re-installed the game, - Update drivers. Being a new computer, everything is pretty much up to date. I had to do a clean install for the GPU drivers only using DDU, though, - Verified game files, - Emptied the shader cache on the drive game is saved to, - Repaired Steam library, - Lowered graphic settings, - Attempted to launch and run Warframe in Clean Boot mode to exclude background programs/services <- unsuccessfully; Steam didn't work at all (which I kind of figured would happen) and trying to launch the game straight from the launcher...triggered a download of the game files in the App Data folder on main (C) drive. O_o The random crashes don't even appear in the Windows Event Viewer. Nowhere to be found. And believe me, I have looked into every single category. I've been keeping track of the time(s) of the crashes but, alas, found nothing that could possibly be related to those. (also, I'm not a computer expert so perhaps I'm doing things wrong)
So far, the only weird thing I've noticed is...Most of the times there seemingly is a "break" in between each series of crashes. A few days at worst, 10-12 days at best. Yes, I checked even the Task Scheduler utility on Windows. Found no program/app that runs automatically that matches with the timing/days when the crashes have occurred so far.
Really losing my mind to this. It's frustrating, it's unnerving, it's making me genuinely terrified of playing the game. And the reason I got this PC in the first place was being finally able to play my favorite game without worrying about being unable to because of my old (and obsolete) machine! Because I don't know when the next crash shall decide to happen and oh boy it's gonna be so fun losing progress. Or having a couple of players reasonably angry at me for suddenly poofing as host. I'm really sorry about that, folks.
I'm already considering the option of total formatting this computer, should there be no other way. But not before entirely giving up. And maybe make things a little less complicated for tech support team.
I can't thank these guys enough for their help and most importantly patience over the past month and half. This mess has been handed to three different people already and a solution hasn't been found yet.
So, if there are fellow Tenno on Tumblr who have either experienced something like this before and found a fix or are just more knowledgeable about computers and whatnot, your help would be GREATLY appreciated. ;.;
EDIT: I forgot to mention a few important things! - Hardware temperatures are within optimal range while in game (CPU never above 65°C, GPU has been running ice cold and has rarely exceeded 50°C so far, RAM is chilling at 45°C average). - GPU memory usage averages around at max (peak) 77% on HWInfo. - CPU usage I honestly need to check! D: - Ran disk cleanup, scans with sfc, chkdsk and DISM (all through command prompts ran as admin) and no issues were found. - Checked RAM health as well with Windows' memory diagnostic tool. However, it seems to give many false positives even on perfectly functional RAM banks. Looking for a more reliable alternative. - Warframe is the only game that keeps crashing on this PC. I haven't been getting any with other games/programs (Hades II; need to test how Ultrakill performs) or any warning signs (BSODs, freezes, sluggish PC, etc) that could suggest hardware failure.

My mom's laptop is old and can't run Windows 11.
I ran a few DEs past her and KDE Plasma passed the vibe check if that helps.
(Joke poll aside, this is somewhat of a genuine question. A lot of the beginner-friendly distros I can think of off the top of my head don't have KDE as an option. [I'll admit the only beginner-friendly distro I really know is Linux Mint, but a lot of the other ones I've heard of don't have KDE either. {Elementary OS, PopOS, etc.} She also outright said no to Cinnamon.])
Maybe OpenSUSE Slowroll? Debian stable?
She doesn't actually use her laptop that often so I don't think the actual distro will matter that much. She certainly doesn't care about the latest features.
But as an OpenSUSE Tumbleweed enjoyer, I know that libzypp doesn't (didn't?) play nicely with Discover for some updates. It'd probably be fine with any more traditionally package managed distro though.
But Debian Bookworm doesn't have KDE 6...
Even still, I'll probably just go with Debian stable unless any of you have a better idea.
Some specs below the cut if it matters to y'all
The laptop is a Dell XPS L702X
It has a 2 core 4 thread Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz
It has 8 GiB of fully replaceable ram. (4 DDR3 SODIMMs. 2 Currently populated) (We are considering upgrading it.)
It has a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT 550M
But the cpu also has an iGPU. It doesn't identify itself as anything in particular.
For wifi, it has an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6230 (Since it's Intel I don't think it'll be an issue, but ya never know. It didn't work in Clonezilla, but that might not even consider WiFi.)
It has a 500 GB SSD and a 500 GB hard drive. Both are supposedly healthy according to SMART.
I've already cloned everything with Clonezilla. (All the specs except the wifi are from the Clonezilla image.)
I don't think these specs matter too much. Windows 10 runs... fine. (I don't think the Nvidia drivers are even installed?) I can't imagine any particular Linux distro will run any worse. It's mostly needed for taxes and stuff anyway.
(As I was checking what the wifi card was, windows gave an ad notification for Flight Sim 2024. I don't think this laptop could even install it. Staying on Windows 10 isn't really an option.)

You are the mutual I know who uses linux, and I have a half-broken dinosaur of a laptop I want to see if linux would make usable again.
Its 8+ years old, cannot connect to the internet for a reason that may be software related or might not(its a mystery), and has other various issues.
My use of it would Primarily be as a on-the-go text & html editor and if I can get the internet running on it then also firefox as well. Maybe some offline emulation of some older games or a simple linux supported drawing program but that isnt essential.
The question is Thus: If I download a linux mint installer and copy to a flashdrive(presuming you can download the file without it starting to set up the OS instantly), is that all thats necessary to upload linux mint onto a laptop that has no internet capabilities?
Also which version of linux mint should I use? I see there are several. This laptop 3 years ago ran windows 10 ok enough to boot up chrome and use the internet, but now it takes like 15 mins to finish loading enough that you can open programs, as a metric.
Thanks and hope you have a nice day!
Yes, most linux distros will run on a machine that age, and with a surprising degree of vitality. Game emulation should work just fine, unless the computer was very low power even for 2015.
On a mech that old, I'd suggest just checking if the tiny wire for the wifi card has popped loose over time. They are snap-on wire heads that don't lock, so especially with laptops, disconnections like that happen.
Your wifi card should look a lot like this:
Tumblr media
I've circled the two tiny ports, and drawn arrows to identify which cables. The whole wifi card will be about an inch across, and is the ONLY thing that uses those kind of wires, so it's very identifiable.
Linux mint is designed to install offline, and includes a wide variety of open source and generic drivers for just.... so much hardware. When you begin installation, it will ask you if you want to use, "third party, private and proprietary drivers." If you say yes, it will want an internet connection to download those drivers. If you say no, it will install entirely offline without issue.
As for which version: the only difference is the visuals. I, personally, like XFCE because it has very minimal visual noise. Everything is simple rectangles with sharp corners and clear boundaries. This lack of visual flair also means it uses the least resources to run the OS, leaving more hardware power available for actual tasks. However, it's a very intimidating desktop. If you liked Windows XP but haven't enjoyed much since, grab XFCE.
If you are a Mac/apple user, I actually recommend Kubuntu instead of Mint, because it has the most similar interface visually and will cause the least transition pains. Kubuntu has equally if not even more robust hardware support to Mint, as both of them are built on top of the Ubuntu framework.
For everyone else, I suggest starting with Mint Cinnamon. I have actually, with no reservations, had way better results teaching confused retirees to run Cinnamon than Windows or Mac. It's a very user friendly interface.
The start bar search, for example, literally just shows results for files/programs installed to your computer, none of this bs about integrated web searching.
As for installation tools:
You must burn the ISO file to the flashdrive as a bootable disk, rather than simply copying the file to it. I'm sure you know that; it's the same for installing windows. But! People often forget that detail and wonder why their computer keeps booting to windows instead of the installation media.
I personally use LiLiUSB because I'm stuck mentally in the year 2014 which is when it stopped updating. For a more sane approach, try Balena Etcher. Or whatever bootable drive software you like; it doesn't really matter. You just need to make the drive bootable before installation.

Internet rebooted just when I finished that post... Scared me for a bit.
To be honest, transitional periods are always messy, even if you somehow preempt them.
Like... It turns out that you have to replace the battery in a phone every 18 to 24 months, but unless you have the proper tools or a repair shop is a available in the area, there's no way to just pop the thing open and put in a new one as they're basically sealed containers.
Most android phones have an 18 month support lifespan with Samsung's 5 year and Google's 7 year being the exception...
Sure, you can do some weird hacky stuff to install Windows 11 on an unsupported old laptop, but even Microsoft admits that is basically a ticking time bomb. Win 10 has only a little over a year left to live at this point as well... And the cost of extended support exceeds the cost of the machine.
Providing the thing doesn't start to come apart on its own before then. Old rubber seams tend to give way and crumble with age after all.
And there's even weirder forms of support lost... While Open Source drivers are technically forever, it just takes some very poor timing to make life miserable for years.
You see... This particular laptop is a dual GPU model... With an Intel HD 4600 running most of the time and an Nvidia GTX 950M that can take over if needed.
First, the Intel GPU is one hardware revision short of proper vulkan support, so running Proton for Windows gaming on Linux on it is... Some what questionable. It isn't what I'd call fast either.
The Nvidia GPU has full Vulkan support, but... You have two main issues... The drivers and getting applications to utilize the GPU when needed.
By default, they use the Noveau drivers, which does technically work, but runs like a car stuck on first gear... And I'm not sure if the switchover works at all. It will catch up eventually, but it could be years.
The proprietary GeForce drivers are fully functional, but unless something changes in later drivers, I'm stuck with the older Proprietary Kernel hooks... Which makes addressing the GPU more complicated than it should be. And while there are official Open Source Kernel hooks now, they only work for newer Nvidia GPUs.
The proprietary kernel hooks cause all sort of problems... Like it makes updating more complicated, the system isn't as fine tuned or integrated together as it should, and more. That also leads into the other annoyance... Optimus support.
As I can't address the secondary GPU directly, I have to use a supplied tool known as prime to get it to work... And as simple as Prime-run application-name might sound, it can be a hit or a miss.
Oh and I can't just run an up to date version of Ubuntu or Linux Mint either... Since the kernel version they use doesn't like my wifi adapter... And even more frustrating is that it's like one version number off from being compatible.
Otherwise, it just shuts off after a few minutes... Gotta be 5.9 or greater, but they use 5.8 by default.
To make it even more annoying, the new Wayland window manager requires the Nvidia drivers to be set to 550 or higher... And those use 530ish by default.
I mean, the Noveau drivers do have Wayland support, but as I said... Stuck on first gear.
KDE on Wayland feels very comfortable to me, but... I have no idea how to address the secondary GPU reliably...
No idea if the backlight on the keyboard is gone because it's old or some sort of Asus firmware shenanigans.
I mean, it's ten years old at this point... And keeping this thing running is all I can afford unless some miracle happens.

Get MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter Today!
Tumblr media
MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter Compatibility Wi-Fi 6E makes the 6 GHz band of frequencies available to you, giving your data a smooth route without having to deal with outdated 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz equipment.
The procedure of updating the wireless router and your house network to Wi-Fi 6E is simple. Choose a gaming router like MSI’s RadiX AXE6600, and your contemporary Wi-Fi 6E network is ready to go!
But the problem lies with your current setup it may be an outdated laptop, a desktop without WiFi, or one that isn’t compatible with the most recent Wi-Fi standards.
It can seem too expensive and impracticable to replace them all.
The good news is that not all of your home’s devices need the most recent wireless standard to function. The 6 GHz band should be utilized as quickly as possible for devices that are used for applications that require considerable bandwidth such as huge downloads, AR/VR, or 4K/8K streaming.
What is a USB dongle (adapter) for Wi-Fi? That’s exactly the situation in which the handy USB adapter or Wi-Fi dongle might be useful. It is not only affordable in comparison to the cost of updating your equipment, but it also enables any outdated laptop or desktop to access modern wireless standards.
What what is a Wi-Fi “dongle” or adaptor, then?
In short, it’s a little gadget that attaches to a laptop or desktop PC’s USB port to provide wireless network connection.
Of course, really simple Wi-Fi adapters are available to enable you to connect to Wi-Fi, but they often support outdated standards. You must choose wisely if you want to take advantage of the newest features that more recent Bluetooth standards have to offer even on older devices.
One such choice is the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter.
With it, devices that are a little older may still take use of everything that Wi-Fi 6E has to offer, including access to the 6 GHz frequency range.
The MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter’s benefits Although you can update your devices to acquire native compatibility for Wi-Fi 6E, doing so isn’t really sensible if that’s the only reason. Of course, it’s a different scenario if you’re upgrading for enhanced functionality and performance.
For older laptops and desktop computers that need access to the greater dependability and speeds of Wi-Fi 6E, the best choice is a Wi-Fi adapter. Additionally, it spares you from having to replace your whole equipment.
Simple Assembly Easy plug-and-play setup is provided by the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB adapter, provided you have access to a PC or laptop running Windows 10 or 11. Since the driver is integrated directly into Windows, getting started doesn’t need a laborious setup process.
Note: In order to connect to 6 GHz Wi-Fi networks, you must have Windows 11 due to restrictions at the OS level.
Adaptable Not only does the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter have a simple setup process, but its size also makes it handy to take about and even keep connected into your PC.
A PC or laptop may access Wi-Fi 6E networks and functionalities by upgrading to newer hardware that supports Wi-Fi 6E. But with a dongle like the MSI AXE5400, you have a lot more options. You may switch it between devices at any moment, based on where you need it most!
Having said that, you will also want additional adapters if you require numerous devices to operate at 6 GHz concurrently.
Better Results You are enhancing the wireless capabilities of any Windows PC when you plug in the MSI AXE5400 USB Wi-Fi 6E Adapter. It may immediately take use of all the advantages of a current wireless standard by gaining access to it.
Tri-Band Assistance Your devices are able to link across the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band as well as the new 6 GHz band thanks to Wi-Fi 6E’s inclusion of the 6 GHz channel. Make your selections depending on your unique needs.
For bandwidth-intensive uses like streaming, high-definition video conferencing, real-time AR/VR, and more, the 6 GHz frequency spectrum is perfect. It works very well for latency-sensitive applications, such as online gaming, where even a little packet loss or delay is intolerable.
External Folding Antenna Even while you can get by with a wireless connection without an antenna, having one takes wireless performance to a whole new level. When you require the fastest speeds and most dependable connection, you may unfold the foldable antenna on the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter.
While there are “nano” USB Wi-Fi adapters available, which are smaller, they often have problems with connection. You may benefit from a respectable compromise between mobility and performance thanks to the foldable antenna.
Increased Safety For the highest level of network security, WPA3 encryption is now necessary for all Wi-Fi 6E devices operating at 6 GHz. You may take advantage of this increased degree of security without making any sacrifices when you use the Wi-Fi 6E adaptor!
Support for USB 3.2 Gen 1 As long as you have a contemporary USB port available, the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter will never slow down your internet connection thanks to its compatibility for USB 3.2 Gen 1 and speeds of up to 5 Gbps. Even the most bandwidth-intensive jobs won’t cause you any trouble at all.
Who Is the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter Appropriate for? Since this particular Wi-Fi 6E adapter is so versatile, you could make the case that almost everyone should buy one. Some use cases, however, will profit more than others.
Older Laptops with WiFi A Wi-Fi 6E adapter might revitalize your older laptops if they sometimes refuse to connect to your network or disengage from it regularly. They will be able to take advantage of all the features and advantages of Wi-Fi 6E, including improved security, speed, and dependability.
Desks that are wired but not wireless If your older desktop PC has a motherboard without WiFi, you will have to run unsightly cords throughout your rooms. You can have a better, wire-free experience for a fraction of the price of even the most expensive, high-end systems with a Wi-Fi 6E adapter like the MSI AXE5400.
Current Desktops Using Antiquated Wireless Protocols If you’re streaming, gaming, and doing high-definition video conferences, even last-generation Wi-Fi may not be able to meet your needs. For those who are still having problems with connection, the MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB adapter may be something to think about.
Just confirm that the multitude of other devices using older frequency bands like 2.4 GHz are interfering with your network or that network congestion is the root of your problems.
Painless Wi-Fi 6E Upgrading After your Wi-Fi 6E network is operational, examine your home’s gadgets more closely to determine which ones stand to gain the most from using 6 GHz and other Wi-Fi 6E-specific capabilities.
You know, you can definitely upgrade to Wi-Fi 6E for any device you plan to use for gaming, streaming, or real-time AR/VR apps. The connection and dependability of your other legacy devices that continue to use the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands will also be enhanced if you keep these high-bandwidth apps off of those frequencies.
The MSI AXE5400 Wi-Fi 6E USB Adapter is a very affordable way to improve device connection. It lets you update older devices easily and update your network without having to make big financial commitments. Simply plug it in to start taking use of all the features and advancements of a contemporary Wi-Fi network!

@authortobenamedlater no way, I learned data entry on good ol' WordPerfect! It's the reason why I always turn Word dark blue with the pale blue text, lol! 😉Anyway, thank you for the link for Editpad, I'll definitely look into that. Also am not sure about Notepad, I think I've seen it pop up on this one but didn't realize that Win11 got rid of WordPad. I'm not surprised, honestly. They seem to want to make 11 as lousy as possible, at least when it comes to me personally! 🤷‍♀️😉 Thanks again for all of your brainstorming and suggestions, very appreciated!
@shannon-foraker Hi and thank you so much for replying, I appreciate it so much. This has been the weirdest computer issue I've ever had in my 20 some odd years (some of them very odd 😉) of having computers.
I'll try to keep this short because it's a lot. Update: I did not keep this short, sorry. But I tried. 😉 I just wanted to see if there's anything in here that maybe a tech-savvy person has heard of before? Never know what might be a clue.
In Oct, 2023, my Win 10 computer blue screened after 5 years of being rock solid, able to play Halo and other Steam games, could use Vegas to make vids and GIFs, had Word 2003 for writing. I eventually reset it because the BSODs got more and more frequent and that solved the BSODs but caused me to lose the Game Bar that's made into Win10 so I could no longer capture games like before. I could still launch Halo but not other games like Mass Effect: Andromeda that uses the EA launcher. Vegas would not launch. After researching and trying useless fixes, I eventually figured it was just its age and would need to be replaced. We were right at prime Black Friday sales times so that's what I did.
Also in Oct, 2023, though, my dad's less than a year old Win 11 computer ALSO began blue screening for no discernible reason. It was not networked with my Win10 computer, though they share a router. Mine was Ethernet, his Wifi. I scanned them both with everything I could, ruling out malware or viruses. They never share files, USB sticks, anything. Both are Dell, mine an XPS, his an Inspiron. I reset his, fully updated everything, but the BSODs continued a few days later, though for different reasons than before. This remains unsolved. His will work for a few hours, then BSOD. As that he's a very casual user, that's sustainable for him for now (he wants me to focus on fixing my new computer, which I use a lot more than he does his).
The new computer arrived for Christmas. It blue screened after being on for a few hours. I cried like a baby. I feel cursed, honestly. In the roughly a month since then (very roughly indeed), I've reset it 3 times, I've fully updated both Windows and Dell, which caused it to BSOD 8 times in an hour. I reset after that and did NOT update anything, pausing Windows updates which I've now learned doesn't actually pause the updates since this is the Home edition.
A few weeks ago, Dell issued an emergency BIOS update, along with fresh Nvidia and Intel driver updates. Installing those calmed the BSODs but didn't stop them entirely until I realized that using the Chrome broswer was causing Nvidia to lockup. Stopped using Chrome. Can't use Google docs anymore because that froze Firefox (and Nvidia began wailing like a banshee, I'm not afraid to say that I'm literally afraid of this computer nowadays, I would not be shocked if it just exploded in my face one day).
Dell's customer service advice is "apply all updates and if that fails, reset Windows" despite the fact I've done all of that A LOT. The most help I've actually found is from a Dell forum where there are literally dozens of reports of issues like mine. Changing Nvidia's power performance to maximum has helped the issue where the computer would be sitting idle, nothing running, and Nvidia would come on and attempt to make the PC achieve orbit. My God, was that fun to experience. /s
Dell insists there's nothing wrong with the computer and I'm beyond the time period where I could've returned it. So this little ticking time bomb is all mine for however long it has.
Interesting tidbits: Dell no longer sells this particular configuration of XPS. Windows 12 is about to launch in June 2024, not even 3 years after Win11's launch. That seems super soon to me, kinda like the ol' Win8 disaster but with them trying not to SAY it's a disaster. But I could just be projecting conspiracy theories nowadays. It comes from feeling like your PC is just going to freakin' blow your face off one day, I think. 👀
Answering your questions: I've considered putting my Win10 computer back up in place of this one even though it's hampered by a lot of issues. At least I can go back to playing Halo, which I miss tremendously. It irks me, though, to just mothball a brand new computer that was not cheap and was given to me by my dad. It makes me so sad because he wanted me to get something super awesome for gaming and vidding. He's always bragging about his "gamer daughter," lol, and this computer should've been a powerful rig: 64GBs RAM, i-9 chip, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 and other stuff that's escaping me at the moment, lol. The couple of times I did get to play Halo on it, my gracious, it looks STUNNING. Played like a dream, every blade of grass visible, just gorgeous.
Then it blue screened. 😑
I've heard of both Linux and Ubuntu but haven't ever seen them in person or know how to work with them. I'm not sure if Steam, Vegas and Word would work with them or if there are some sort of equivalent programs that would? I just looked and there are some games on Steam that will work on Linux.
Honestly, I just want this computer to work, like it's supposed to. I'm just not sure how to get it there. Or maybe there's no way that I can.
PS - Several other people with this issue had Dell send them new parts, one at a time, until they finally completely rebuilt the PC. The BSOD and freezing continued. I really don't think this is a hardware issue, it feels like a driver/software incompatibility instead but I dunno. I'm not tech-savvy at all, I've just done a ton of research while feeling like I'm surfing on a nuclear missile.
At least I was able to write all of this without the Nvidia light (visible through the vent) coming on. That looked so cool at first, now I just freeze in fear when it comes on, waiting to see if we're going to BSOD, freeze or if it's just going to growl loudly at me. Or try to achieve orbit. That was so lousy, I don't want to do that again. 😭
Okay, apparently my Fire tablet and PC are not syncing together, which resulted in me making a high-pitched pterodactyl noise a little while ago when I thought EVERYTHING I HAD WRITTEN IN MY EMAIL DRAFT YESTERDAY HAD DISAPPEARED.
Thankfully, it's still there on my tablet so I emailed it to myself and now I can see it on the PC but DANG is this a clunky, slow and painful way to try to do this. I have a SYSTEM when it comes to writing, frens. Anything messing with MY SYSTEM makes me feel a bit
Tumblr media
and even more
Tumblr media
Do I dare try installing Word 2003 (my beloved) again? Is it worth it to potentially go back to Blue Screen of Death City, population MEEEEEE or is there something else I'm missing?
Can't use Google docs as my computer already proved. I don't want anything I have to install on the computer *points to fears of returning to BSoD City* but I want something that I can somehow save at the same time. I dunno. I was hoping to get this in really good shape today and instead I'm stuck where I left off and feeling like I'm trying to excavate a hole the size of Mt. Everest with a teaspoon.
Tumblr media
I thought about writing in a Tumblr draft or in AO3 itself but either of those has their own perils (Tumblr in accidentally POSTING IT and AO3 warns not to keep your only copy there). Maybe writing in AO3 and email it back to myself when I'm done for the day/writing session?
I just want to be able to use my computer like a COMPUTER again and not have to be so cautious and careful with everything. This is honestly stupid stressful. UGH.
*more angry moth noises, just 'cause*
Update: I'm going to try writing in AO3 for now and saving as a draft/emailing that back to myself. It's better than nothing and feels a little more familiar since I usually do my final editing in AO3 since I can often catch errors in AO3's preview that I missed in Word for some reason.
Still, if you have any recommendations for apps/sites/programs etc you like to write in, I'd like to hear them.
