Winterfest Rules

Tanthamore Winterfest is a two month long event full of writing and art prompts based around the pairing Kit Tanthalos/Jade Claymore from Willow, brought to you by the makers of @tanthamoretober. The goal is to have some chill, flexible reasons to write during the months of December and January. This challenge also encompasses other characters and pairings within the Willow universe.

How does it work? You create fan content inspired by one of the prompts and post it during the challenge period, which starts December 1, 2023 and ends January 31, 2024. You can do one shots or string the prompts together for a multi-chapter fic, and all types of fan content are welcome: art, fic, vids, fan mixes, rec lists, meta, memes.

What prompts? We have multiple types of prompts, and you can choose what inspires you best. There are four lists of text-based tables, and three moodboards in case visual prompts speak to you more. You can pick and choose from any of these and interpret them any way you like.

Why are there summer prompts in a winter fic challenge?

Because some people live in New Zealand, okay? Or other places. Apparently there's a whole hemisphere where December and January are summer months, and if you're not feeling wintery at this time of year we don't want that to hold you back from participating!

How do I share my cool stuff? Add it to the Winterfest collection on AO3!

(Use the ‘Post to collection’ button, or see How do I add work to a collection for more info.)

On tumblr, use the tag 'tanthamorewinterfest’ so others can find it (as well as any relevant content/pairing/prompt tags.) You can also tag this blog, and we’ll reblog things throughout the month.

Does it have to be Tanthamore? It doesn’t! You can create things for any prompt with any character or characters from Willow, you can write different pairings, you can do whatever you want forever. Just make sure that your fics are tagged appropriately!

Can it be any rating? Yes absolutely! Write the most E-rated thing your little heart desires, just tag it as such so readers can decide for themselves.

Can it be any length? Sure! There is no minimum or maximum word limit.

Does it have to be canon? Nope - it can be canon, canon-divergent, or any kind of AU you would like to write!

Does it have to be finished? Nope, not at all. If one of the prompts inspires you to start a long fic, you are still totally welcome to add it to the collection during December-January and carry on working on it after the challenge is over. We will close the collection after the challenge is complete (probably sometime in the first week of February) but you can continue adding chapters to anything you have already added.

Aroace Hunter Week, Day 3: Cupid Missed

For some reason my brain gave me this image and I thought it was funny. I hope it fits within the bounds of “light ribbing/teasing”

A plant girl and an engineer boy just vibing as friends, ft. the aroace and aroacespec flags respectively, and also the platonic (just platonic, not queerplatonic) attraction flag on the bottom text.

Willow is not interested in dating at all, while Hunter is neutral/indifferent - he’s neither opposed to it nor actively seeking it out. Whether he gets a romantic partner at some point or not, he’s fine either way.

Btw I saw someone (who has since deactivated) suggest ‘YellowRoses’ as the platonic friendship tag for these two, and I like it, so I’m using this post to spread it. I tag them “#toh yellowroses”, in case you wanna match the tag someone already uses.

Okay so, since I didn't post any art on Aro Week (though I will be finishing the drawing I was doing), I'm gonna do some (very late) aro character text posting, talking about their identities.

Ft. a couple new characters and some new versions of old characters that I haven't reintroduced yet. Also including their ages to show the variety there.

Lev (he/him; early to mid 40s): bi aroace; sex-averse, but fine with romance; has flirted with people, gone on dates, kissed, etc; not opposed to eventually having a life partner.

Miguel (he/him; early to mid 50s): aroace; indifferent to both romance and sex; got married in his early 20s and had a kid with his wife, but they later divorced on good terms and are still friends; has since remained single.

Rufus (he/him; mid to late 50s): gay demiromantic ace; if he didn't have a partner, he was open to going on dates with people he wasn't attracted to if they seemed like they could be compatible; in present day he's married and has kids.

Howie (he/him; 16 y/o): poly aroacespec; unsure what kind of partnership he wants, is open to experimenting.

Angelo (he/him; 16 y/o): gay demirose (demi aroace); unsure what kind of partnership he wants, is open to experimenting.

Tatiana is running late to her first day of senior year. Why does Copperdale have to be so far from Willow Creek? Her little brother, Marco is eating candy for breakfast and swinging his legs in the passenger seat. It’s his first day of school at Copperdale Middle, having turned twelve over the summer. The youngest isn’t so young anymore. Indie rock is playing through the radio. [ANIMALS BY NEON TREES] MARCO: Can I change the station? TATI: No! MARCO: But it’s so bad. TATI: Well, when you learn to drive you can choose the songs! MARCO: But that’s three years away! TATI: Aw. Boo-hoo! Enjoy your youth, bug! MARCO: Yuck! Don’t call me that! Tati honks the horn as someone cuts her off.

TATI: C'mon, man! Marco starts to lean toward the radio. TATI: Don’t even think about it. Marco successfully changes it to rap. [WORK OUT BY J COLE PLAYS] TATI: NOOOO MY TUNES Marco laughs. Tati drops off her brother at Copperdale Middle and purposefully shouts ‘I love you!’ to embarrass him as he runs to meet his friends. -A few minutes later she parks in ‘STUDENT PARKING’ at Copperdale High. She texts Gia and Sam to find out where to meet them. She grabs her bag and her senior year schedule before slamming the door to her green truck—a hand me down, driven by her brothers before they moved out. As she walks toward the auditorium to meet up with her friends, her boyfriend Omar sneaks up and surprises her with a hug. TATI: WH- OMAR: Hey! Missed you. TATI: Missed you, too. TATI: Don’t go on vacation ever again. OMAR: It was only for two weeks! Post-Series Finale HCs: The Owl House (Spoiler!)

(From days to weeks) Right after;

—Raine spends time between recovering and pitching ideas to rebuild the Isles, reconnecting with Eda. They find out what music range the Owl Beast spirit cannot handle to avoid making their girlfriend (later wife) go deaf. Happiest they have been in years since the breakup.

—To limited degree, witches can use magic outside their coven sigil now. The sigils cannot completely block other magic-types only just restrict it. Biles sacks are pretty fragile though.

—Several cults/religions tried to start up once people learned King was a living Titan. Eda shut them down before they could get established—the Collector has a few cults too.

—Hooty helps Lilith practice her own Harpy form. Has to catch her several times as the other half of Owl Beast is less sentient(?) than Eda’s own curse. It grows to be a Raven. He finds being in his “Porta-Hooty” mode to be more fun since he can hang out with Lily.

—Alador spends time catching up with his kids. He likes to study how various beasts and animal species are adapting to the raised left arm. (If the Abomination track wasn’t expected of his family, he would have joined the Beast track.)

—Luz does, in fact, keep a portion of her Titan form’s power. Being in direct contact with such immense power has left its mark. She has fangs and magic will spark off her fingers whenever she holds Stringbean. Her shouts are loud!

—The decision to tear down the ruins of Belos’ castle is pretty unanimous. They find several thousands of snails hidden away, remains of the Grimwalkers, and old wild magic texts.

—So much rebuilding to be done. Not just buildings but the entire infrastructure of the Boiling Isles. People outside the main cast wonder what in the realm happened for everything to crazy during the Day of Unity.

—Hunter does some soul-searching in between joint custody of the Nocedas, Clawthornes, Parks, and Darius (plus Eber). There is a lot to unpack in his life after everything that went down. He ponders what being a Grimwwalker means, processes Flapjack’s passing, and what he is going to do going forward. The poor boy is traumatized to high heaven being raised under Belos/child soldier/clone of Caleb Clawthorne.

(Yes. I headcanon that Caleb took Evelyn’s last name or they refer to him by that after finding out what his brother did.)

—Eda jokes about Hunter technically being her and Lillith’s however-many-greats-grandfather.

—Wrath has to go through a redemption arc. Seriously! He sees how much Braxas missed him and begrudgingly accepts that the coven system was wrong. It takes a few years though.

—The Collector does not go straight back to the siblings who left him alone. This idea is argued for by the main cast who want them to spend time being a kid. King begs him to stay.

(I do not know how to write pronouns for a person who has He/him and They/them).

—On a side note, everyone who was ever mean to King is now genuinely terrified of him. :)

—People wonder why the Titan’s left arm is stretched out toward the sky. Even Luz does...

Four Years Later;

—The concept of carving a palistrum egg has boomed in popularity. Stringbean inspired many people to respect Palismen as individuals.

—Cultural trade between the Boiling Isles and Earth is still tentative. Unfortunately, Andrias’ invasion made humans wary of other realms. (We know ToH and Amphibia share a universe due to easter eggs. Might as well capitalize~)

—Gus secretly eats movie DVDs. He knows that they are supposed to be watched but they taste good. He will eat some on his lunch breaks.

—A president/representative has been put in charge of the Boiling Isles. Democracy is still new so there are a few kinks to work out. Each town has a few spokespeople for them to really give everyone a voice in how things are run.

—Luz, Amity, Willow, Gus, Hunter, Eda, King, Lillith, Raine, and the others are still the main celebrities on the island. Their popularity has finally died down from fan-worship levels much to their relief (Raine, Hunter, & King mainly).

—King keeps discovering glyph types outside his parent/father’s elemental ones. The combo testing can get a little crazy since this is his new magic language! He is really excited to learn it.

—Funnily enough, future students of Eda’s have visited using the time pools. They never say anything too revealing about the future but the subtle picture they paint is chaotic.

—The Basilisks help the Unversity of Wild Magic keep from burning down/freezing/exploding/imploding/getting damaged by wild studies.

—Willow acts as a motivational speaker for young witches and demons in the Flyer Derby off-season. The still-new freedom of magic can be overwhelming in sheer choices to the kids.

—Camila can only handle a certain amount of the Boiling Isles’ otherness. She loves that her first kid found such an accepting second home, really she does! But it is still a lot to take in...

—The Collector took care of the Titantrappers years ago. Only the youngest members are more open to interacting with King.

—Eda still finds it ironic she became a teacher.

—Amity spends her days exploring the world, though she is always a call away from Luz and her friends. She did not expect to fall in love with exploring different Titan-civilizations.

—Viney has interned under Camila to learn about Earth animals. The difference in biology between the two realms plays a part in how she judges treating pets at her mythical pet clinic. Some species react adversely to magic being used on them which she learns cause of it.

—Hunter gives each past Golden Guard a name based on what little he could find about their personalities. He still sees their ghosts but in a “guardian angel” way. Is for sure dating Willow.

...It. It took a while for him to carve Waffles.

Times really flies, since we’ve reached the final week of the challenge! This week is focussed on Prompt Card #4, which has your final 4 flowers/plant prompts to choose from. Prompts are photo and text based.

A reminder that creators have the option to choose: 1 prompt or a couple, all of the prompts (should you choose the bouquet or display route), or none of them from this prompt card. Feel free to add other flowers/plants if you think they pair well with the challenge prompts. And don’t forget, you can also use any prompts from previous rounds!
