My latest commission for @es46! He asked me to draw Elesa and Skyla cosplaying as Yu-Gi-Oh characters, which was a fun challenge for me since I never got too into Yu-Gi-Oh. But I gotta say, the designs for Wingweaver (the character Elesa is dressed as) and Harpie Lady (Skyla) are really neat! I love Wingweaver's dress and all the colors in the Harpie Lady's design, and all the wings on both were a really fun challenge and a great practice! Again, thank you for the commission! i've come to learn that Jing Yuan is not fond of the sound of howling, not because he dislikes large dogs in any capacity... but because to him, howling means an approaching borisin pack, a sign that frequently sparks dread. compared to the other two major axes of the denizens of abundance, the wingweavers and houyhnhnms (who have declined far more greatly in strength than the borisins), Jing Yuan is perhaps the most experienced with and the most worried by the borisin. the borisin are cruel, sadistic, and he has seen his fair share of comrades torn apart by their jaws, even nearly losing his own life to them on more than one occasion. Jing Yuan does not dream often, but on the rare occasion that he does, the memories of borisin war howls, blood red canines and pheromone-induced fear in the midst of a battle wrought in pitch darkness and rain tend to follow him to sleep.

Just had a fascinating realization regarding Tiernan and the greater cosmic timeline.

Firstly: We know from the v2.2 story that after Tiernan left Penacony with the Lampmoths, he was nearly killed by the Swarm but was saved by bounty hunters and joined up with the Galaxy Rangers, up until they fought and defeated Lord Ravager Zulo in a pyrrhic victory that saw the Rangers gain interastral fame but left the involved fighters becoming Sin Thirsters.

Secondly: From the Xianzhou's files about the Galaxy Rangers, we know that Zulo was eventually replaced by Lord Ravager Celenova (who is, as far as we know, still around).

Thirdly: From the Xianzhou's List of Archenemies (Lord Ravagers header), we know Lord Ravager Celenova visited the Xianzhou Zhuming to personally argue for ceasefire and seek aid in attacking a wingweaver homeworld. The important part is that this event took place around the year 5700 in the Star Calendar.

Fourth: The Trailblaze Calendar is a twelve-month timekeeping system used by the Express and the Nameless, and is HSR's equivalent to the Gregorian calendar. The Star Calendar is the system used by the Xianzhou Alliance and it's also a twelve-month system, just offset in a similar way to how the traditional calendar used in China and the western calendar are similar-but-distinct to each other.

Fifth: The Xianzhou Luofu arc happens in the year 8100 on the Star Calendar. I am trying to find a source on that but it's what the HSR wiki is going with so it's what I'm sticking with.

The endpoint of all that is that while we can't put exact dates on anything, it does mean that all the events with Tiernan and the Nameless in Penacony had to have happened at least 2400+ years ago. That's a small thing, but it's great that we're able to start putting things in the ballpark of each other like this. If we ever get a time period for Zulo's fall we can start pinning down the Prison Era itself to somewhere within a human lifetime of that fall.

(2400 years may seem like a long time but remember - we know from the Chadwick questline that people can stay "alive" in Penacony much longer than their physical bodies can by persisting through their memoria, and many characters say outright that their physical bodies have long since perished. Additionally, Granholm, the Navigator who sees off the Penacony Nameless, is heavily implied to be the last Navigator before the Express disappears and goes missing for "thousands" of years until Himeko finds and repairs it in the modern day. I wouldn't be surprised if we're looking at something like a 3000-year gap.)

Thinking about how Wingweaver Xili implied the Foxians of the Zhuming have a qualities that look more akin to the Borisin

Also very very interesting to observe the difference between the Foxians depending on what ship they come from… I need to research this more because I would love to show that off in some redesigns/my own designs ig for some of the Xianzhou characters we already know and potential oc designs as well

the ones i remember liking were wingweaver and invader of the throne. i also had this strategy where i'd play gravity bind and then hack away at my opponent's life points with various low-level monsters allowed to attack LP directly, but I don't remember any that I was particularly attached to

and oh, she's been cast away, scarred and scorned by her own people for being kind? for being too 'gentle'? it's easy enough to prove that the reader is not a threat and is allowed to wander under strict surveillance. and he's watching her too, always watching, ready to comfort her when she wakes from those painful nightmares, to satiate the touch starvation she had to put up with for so long as she's a mewling mess below him, to stand by her.

just as long as she never leaves his gaze, see? he is an emanator of the hunt after all, and she's a denizen of the abundance in his territory. it would be messy if she were to disobey his orders.

All Starskiffs need to be checked. As soon as the cloud knights noticed the wings on your back, they immediately surrounded you with swords raised in their hands. That's one of the signs of Denizens of Abundance! After Jing Yuan was informed by the knights and arrived, you were already firmly trapped in a web woven from cosmic materials. Like a frightened bird, you wailed and struggled, holding on to the net with both hands, while your precious wings trembled slightly. Some feathers had fallen to the ground in the commotion. Something soft inside him was touched.

"Who are you? What is your purpose?" After the basic interrogation, Jing Yuan ordered his subordinates to untie your net and tie your wrists with soft ropes. You sobbed and chirped unconsciously.

The background check was completed within a day. That information was unearthed from you, and there were signs of your expulsion. The general can prove that you are not a threat. The condition is that you must be under surveillance.

Your sleeping area is a large cage in the General's mansion, filled with plush cushions, pillows, and dolls…or…sleeping next to your master is a reasonable alternative. Jing Yuan is not that mean in this regard and enjoys combing the feathers on your wings or sleeping on them. Those feathers were as soft and delicate as velvet.

He set up a social account for you to share your lovely daily life (without your consent). This…is like a warning to all Denizens of Abundance. They witnessed your pampered life in the hands of General Luofu and were pissed off. How can you be so submissive? How could you be the enemy's… pet bird?
