scheduling difference don’t have to be this hard, jake thinks as he waits for you at the corner of where your two paths meet. it feels like it’s been forever since he’s seen you—not like he’s obliged to see you or anything. you two weren’t anything official or special, even if he wants so badly to be. maybe it’s thinking about what life would be like if he could call you mine that made the words slip out. “i miss you.” normal words, but the way he said it, and the way you respond, eyes wide and cheeks dusted with blush. “miss me how?” you ask, winter breeze blowing at your baby hairs. jake takes a step closer, choosing to listen to his heart’s wishes as you do the same. he laces his hand with yours, then brings your knuckles to his lips for a small, dainty kiss. your growing smile keeps him going. “miss… like this?”

you make him nervous, sunghoon thinks, but the good kind. the kind that fills you with energy, like what you feel before a roller coaster. the hand that makes your fingers itch, wanting to be held by just one person. wanting to be held by you. this nervousness, he thinks, is what is motivating him, because he has surely never acted like this before let alone felt this much. he takes your hand on the walk back, a wash of seriousness pouring over his features. it’s too late to back out now, and you haven’t wrenched your hand away from his, so perhaps there’s a chance. “i like you,” he says, and he can feel the weights being lifted from his shoulders. “a lot. and i really, really want you to say it back.”

yes, the sun set a long while ago. yes, sunoo should be fast asleep. but how can he be when all he can think or wonder or ponder is you? more specifically, how do you feel? he can hedge a bet—how close you sit, how you laugh at his jokes, how you reach out for him in the hall. but it’s the not knowing that’s really keeping him awake. so, of course, he does something about it. phone in his hands, six simple words—i like you, say it back? and while he waits, he elects it’s the perfect time to ascribe shapes to the spots and shadows on the ceiling. and when you text back? yes, i like you too. meet me in 10? sunoo always thought the campus was more beautiful at night.

the cafe is loud and quiet at the same time. niki is supposed to be studying, yet the pen in his hand feels like a heavy weight, and the words on the page in front of him no longer make sense regardless of how many times he tries to read. the one thing he knows for sure, though, is you sitting across from him, headphones on, pen scribbling and actually doing work. maybe it’s how loud the cafe is, or how short the distance across the table is to you. niki reaches out, taps on the side of your headphones, and once you look up and slide them off, he’s asking. “do you like someone?” your eyes grow wide, cheeks red, and he dares to be bolder, fingers tracing your cheek before: “and is it me?”

The Maybe Man by AJR is so Furina coded

Soooo I was listening to the new AJR album (I have Steve's Going to London stuck on loop in my head). And then I played through 4.2 over the weekend. And now I really want to make it into an animatic so I have a whole lyric chart thingy set up and everything.

Obvi this is going to contain spoilers for Fontaine 4.2 (not her story quest tho, I haven't played it... will probably rb this with updates if I decide to make any changes to the lyric analysis)

This made me think of how Focalors and the Oceanids wanted to be human. They saw how the humans did goofy human things (having emotions, being happy, being sad, etc... hence the "made up and smiled") and went "Yes I want to do that". So they "don't want to be stone, [they] changed their mind". They didn't want to be oceanids anymore, they wanted to become human.

Don't want to be stone I changed my mind.

This one's a bit on-the-nose. It made me think of Furina's accession speech and how at first she was earnest, probably thinking a lot about what Focalors said to her (the "places [she's] been" being the mirror scene when Focalors first told her to pretend to be the hydro archon), but then she heard the Fontainians judging her and questioning her legitimacy as an archon ("talking shit"). In animatic form this would just be where it shows why she started acting all-knowing and all-powerful. Also I wonder if she actually thought of the Fontainians as her "friends"/equals when she initially began her speech.

I've yet to see Furina interact with a dog so my first thought was that scene where she was playing with the cats in the courtyard on the night Arlecchino attacked her. Not that scene specifically, but just the idea that she normally plays with stray animals in Fontaine's city. The "I wouldn't live long" immediately made me think of her lifespan being unnaturally extended via her curse, meaning humans don't live long to her (not just dogs/cats, though it's the same way pets don't live long in comparison to humans).

This one I thought fit Furina really well. Furina de Fontaine acts in plays as well as fakes being an archon. Bro is acting 24/7, always practicing "not being [her]". Because she never is her actual self.

In an animatic I could see that for the "I'll practice my cry, put it into my reel" it could show her crying, like full on breaking down, but then on the "you won't believe me when I cry for real" it zooms out to show that it's a stage with an applauding crowd to show that the Fontainians think it's just a part of the show she's starring in.

She wants to be as wise as a real archon. Whether it be her finally being able to come up with a way to stop the prophecy, or a way to always win in a trial (every "fight", or as she would put it, every "duel"). Except if she was always all-knowing, she would constantly be thinking about the prophecy or other super heavy archon-related things, and being a human, humans aren't meant to constantly be under that strain. Because (as I interpreted the cutscene, at least) even though she had the prophecy and archon role weighing her down, she seemed to at least have some moments where she was having genuine fun (i think??? or maybe she's just that good of an actor and fooled me ig)

She's living someone else's life as the hydro archon. She already lives luxuriously so I think in the animatic it would just be showing her day-to-day life, doing fake archon things. But she can't confide in anyone the truth. She can't "complain about anything small", or break the image that she's this perfect being. And because of that, "Nobody would feel bad for [her] at all".

If I was cocaine or a bottle of Jack

I'd get invited to every frat

But when you get old and your good days have passed

You'll only want me when you're sad.

This made me think of her trailer where she was surrounded by all the Fontaine characters in a choreographed fight. Except instead, this part of the animatic would be her surrounded by Fontainians dancing. Naturally, as an archon, she gets invited to every party.

But when she gets old, and her good days have passed--when the flood dissolves everyone and she's all alone in the sea--she'll only have the memories of those plays and dances that she had with the humans when they were still there. (This never happened but it's what she expected to happen since the beginning. It lowkey reminds me of Briar Rose from Ever After High? Like she wants to party and have fun with everyone while she still can before everyone gets dissolved and she's all alone.)

The first two lines kind of go with the previous paragraph with the music and dancing. But the second two lines made me think of the scenes where she would have Fontainians having appointments to meet with her and being all excited. Except "two or three minutes, then I'm gone". I interpreted this as every human's lifespan feeling extremely short to Furina, especially with that one part of the cutscene where one of the humans was talking about one of their ancestors being the first in their bloodline to meet her--a human that we saw her "talking to" only a few moments ago in the same cutscene.

She wishes that she was as "big", or as powerful, as a real archon. She'd do all the things a real archon could do ("sleep on the trees", "skip every crowd"... not sure how these would be depicted but you get the point).

But then, she wouldn't need Neuvillette anymore, which I see as her main support (even though she never tells him anything, she wanted him to go to Arlecchino's meeting with her to feel safe so I feel like she places some confidence in him / reliance on him at least). But she doesn't want to not need Neuvillette anymore. She wants him around.

I wish I was God, I'd never trip up

And if I did, well, so fuckin' what?

I could be cruel and break all your stuff

Yeah, I'd be loved no matter what...

Again, she wants to be a real archon (or maybe she doesn't--my favorite part of this song is how it's constantly contradicting itself and going back on its statements because maybe you would want to be all-knowing. Maybe you would want to be all-powerful. Maybe you would want to be God. It's indecisive and constantly changing, just like the human condition etc etc). She wouldn't have to be so scared of messing up. She wouldn't have to be afraid of the humans questioning her legitimacy. She could do whatever she wanted and get away with it. The Fontainians would love her no matter what.

But if I was God, it'd get kinda weird

'Cause you would only say what I wanna hear.

And then you would die. You'd love me to death.

I'd never know who the hell I am.

...Except, if she were an actual archon, she'd still feel weird about how the humans worshipped her. When her act is convincing enough, the humans listen to what she says without question. Especially that one part of the cutscene where she's meeting with one of the citizens and literally starts crying in the middle of it. She makes up an excuse about her being the hydro archon, thus having excess hydro in her system... and the human just. Buys it. She starts fangirling as Furina is crying.

And then they would die. They'd love her to death.

This could fit with that part with the talk of bloodlines and the first ancestor who met her, but I'd like to think that it meant the prophecy's flood.

The prophecy would swallow Fontaine whole. All the Fontainians would dissolve.

But they'd still love her to death. They would still worship her without question.

And she'd never know who she was for real.

I can see her saying this during her internal monologue stage as her play's final scene.

She wants to be herself, but she doesn't know how. She's been Focalors since day one, so she has no idea who Furina is.

This part of the song oml. "Pandemonium" describes Fontaine's archon quest pretty well, and combined with the instrument spaghetti in the song finale it conveys the feeling of the storyline precisely.

When the instruments start playing and the crowd starts cheering, I could see that being the magic box opening revealing that Furina is going on trial.

I was thinking of making this into a series? Like I have a lot of songs that line up with characters (not just Genshin, like I currently have one for Danganronpa that's been cooking for like a year) and I want to put it in some kind of lyric analysis / animatic planning format like I did with this one. What’s your Rating when it comes to Hazbin&Boss’s Songs? I Love most of them and some not to much, I Love That Short Western song When Striker was Fighting M&M and sound so Awesome! but was switched to a Pop Song and it was long, Plus I wished they could have stick to one Song instead of switching to the other in That Episode and we really didn’t need that montage of Loona being chased by the vet, Do we? I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ I wish there were full versions of the Songs tho, What do you think?

Oh my rating? Let it be known I am not a musician, so I'm mostly rating these based off catchiness, lyrics, and context.

For Hazbin, the new official songs aren't out yet, so I'll judge the pilot's. The first song with Charlie... the "I'm always chasing rainbows" is a cover of an old song, and I think it's quite beautiful and perfect for her character. It is unfortunate that the song that isn't even original catches my attention the most. Her song "Happy Hotel" is too fast-paced and the VA sings too high, I couldn't understand what she was saying through half the song so I don't like that one very much. Alastor's was fine, I actually love the first part of it, that one would probably be my favorite. Angel's "Addict" is extremely average, but catchy pop, the lyrics are pretty nice. The animation that goes with it was also very good as far as an AMV goes.

Helluva Boss songs: (First=most favored to last=least favored)

House of Asmodeus: I have friends who don't like this song because it goes on pretty long and isn't all that interesting, but I truly adore this song when Asmodeus and Fizz interrupt. It's jazzy, and it's Asmodeous scolding someone for not playing by the rules of his establishment- and maybe even hints at the irony of what they're saying because Fizz and Ozz have a relationship that maybe (at least confirmed now) they aren't ready to acknowledge. We also get to see Blitz and Stolas get verbally attacked in the club, putting their whole relationship into question when this was supposed to be the first date they've ever properly had which misled Stolas into thinking there was more- only for Blitz to become embarrassed when Stolas doesn't stand up for him, solidifying his fears of their relationship being a "thrust"- I mean I could go on and on but the context is just so ... deep????? and it involves all of our characters and was a major turning point for the series, a really good eye opener finale all around.

You Will Be Okay: It's a lovely lullaby with pretty lyrics and a sad context, one that hints at a future tragedy to befall Stolas. A song that reveals Octavia, Stolas's daughter, who is very attached to him, and her fear of losing him. Stolas comforts her, but in the way that... if he dies, she will be fine on her own- that when the time comes, she won't need him anymore. Only to smack right into the change of Stolas now no longer seen in a positive light in Octavia's eyes- feeling betrayed and confused and hurt by him. It's just a subtle but powerful song.

Stolas Sings: I acknowledge the lyrics are useless in the context because it reveals nothing about his character, and this is the episode that completely messed up his relationship writing with not only Blitz but also Stella........ if the lyrics were tweaked I think this would have been good, but... idk I know its not great but I actually really really like this song. It's just so pretty and angsty... I can't help but love it regardless of the nonsense

Vacay to Bonetown: Verosika is a popstar, so, of course, we gotta get a song for her. She mostly sings about smutt and self-care, so the song doesn't have a bigger meaning, but it is very relaxing lo-fi kind of style. The lyrics are interesting, though odd in some aspects- but the point is a double meaning. Singing about going on vacation too, I don't know, it just feels like a nice summer song in a way- if it weren't so R rated ksldgjlkfdg but this one has always been a top fav

Monster's Ball: This is like??? The PROPER song that Beezlebub should have sung? This is really good and has unique lyrics that help, in a quick way, describe Beezlebub's personality and ...career? It's average pop yeah, but parts of it are rather catchy. This song is actually pretty good. I have no idea what is going on though with the music of this episode because Kesha was initially part of it and ended up going through legal troubles against Spindlehorse and no one really knows why. So there was a lot of weirdness surrounding the music made for this episode. I wish I had more behind-the-scenes context but... I don't.

My World Is Burning Down Around Me: A short song that Octavia listens to. The lyrics are on the nose and the song itself is only in there for like... 30 seconds tops... but its angsty and catchy so here's a shout-out to it.

The Ballad of Striker: I really really like this country song, the Mariachi band and lyrics are really fun. But context just doesn't fit, unfortunately, because Striker is no longer a secret assassin but in fact a very well-known outlaw for hire in the ring of wrath... just doesn't feel true to the original character

Oh Millie: A pilot song, but it's sweet. Millie's contributions are actually cute. It's used as a funny gag, but it also shows an interesting Bonnie and Clyde romance, where Moxie, despite his logical nature, actually really enjoys killing and adores his wife for being just as vicious. And Millie is enamored with his softer musical side, and may not be as good with words, but she still loves to be part of it. I don't know... Millie and Moxie from the pilot are different characters from the official series. I miss what they were before. Somehow I think their romance is more believable and equal, revealing so much about their characters in a single song? Like it's just really good. I don't know how else to explain it.

Mustang Dong: A song Blitz is listening to in his car. It's a fun catchy rock song, and the lyrics are downright hilarious. Very befitting of Blitz. Very funny for such a short sequence.

Loo Loo Land: A silly jingle, I laughed with the running gag of "No copyright infringements ever seen." And He did mock Charlie's "Happy Hotel" song which was also pretty funny. It's got references and gags and it doesn't go on for crazy long, I think it's a pretty decent song for the episode, and the context fits perfectly- Stolas enjoying himself like a kid, but Octavia hating every second of it. It's an entertaining plot device- and the character who sings it is gasp- surprise! Involved with our main character Blitzo! What a mystery?!

Moxxie's Bad Trip: This is like an odd opera-poem reading- er... I really don't know the genre it's a bit confusing. Some of the lyrics seem off-tempo while some seem on tempo. The lyrics fluctuate though, between serious to comedic. It's a bit of a messy tone, but I like it. Feels like a classic Helluva Boss song. It's really unfortunate though, because this is Moxie confronting Blitz over his bad behavior, giving Blitz a mysterious nature to himself, a Phantom of the Opera parody- it just has all this unique inspiration and mysterious context- and this is the song where Moxie and Blitz are meant to have a confrontation and grow as people in a character arc- but this whole thing is happening in MOXIE'S HEAD... and they act like it also happened in Blitz's too... so the context is just kinda screwy unfortunately...

CHERUB JINGLE: Silly. It's fine- I actually love it when they harmonize, but it was a little awkward because Cleatus's voice is deep in the official song where in the show its super high pitched- they did the best with what they could, but when I first listened to it I was like "WHO IS THIS MAN???"

IMP JINGLE: Same feelings as above kind of- wish it were IMP singing this though, instead of just some dude. It was written mostly for the pilot so it was rough stuff.

Watcha thinkin bout now?: The first part where it's a country genre is really good and fits- but then we swap to pop, but it's unfitting, it's not funny, kinda takes you out of the scene because it causes tonal dissonance. Despite me adoring the first half, I will admit it has empty lyrics. It's sort of just repeating its title, and is too short to really be considered a full proper song so.... again, love the first half... wish it could have been longer and wish it had more interesting lyrics.

You Got the Power: Random guy singing a song for that weird episode where Moxxie is really out of character and Millie is just screwing around on stage performing for humans. The context is silly since its literally just imps punching and stabbing each other, there isn't really any "power" in a magical sense here, or other sense, I guess... idk, but it's a pretty nice rock song despite the context being bad!

Crashin a Muthafckin Wedding: A countryish kick ass song for Millie at Moxie's wedding to Chaz. I don't like this episode, but the song fits the action scene. It's actually quite decent, all things considered.

Til the Day We Die: A more boring Millie x Moxie song ... I mean hey, at least it HAS Millie in it, so points to that. Just a song about being in love... where the context is jsut bad... preforming for human money to buy street art? Who thunk this up, huh?

Striker's Song: I couldn't hear the VA at all, the music was too loud and he was too quiet. The lyrics are really arrogant and weirdly sinister towards Moxie, it just didn't feel natural, it felt like a forced conflict. I don't see Striker as an overtly arrogant dude, throughout the episode he's definitely competitive but he's rather humble and respectful towards everyone else. Naturally, that's a ruse, but even so... I just don't like this song.

Regular Joe: Millie's first song by herself and it's completely useless. It's just about her being boring and plain, and somehow people love her for it. (looks into the camera like on the office) With the context being she and Moxie are wasting time on a mission that Moxie is supposed to be in charge of. It's just an average song, the VA does a lovely job at least, very pretty voice... interrupted by annoying screaming fans in between the lyrics.

Chaz Time: Still processing this... episode... Chaz is so useless.... I actually couldn't understand the lyrics because his singer was whispering so quietly... maybe the music was louder than it should be?

Look At This: useless lyrics, causes tonal dissonance in the context, makes the other characters look stupid and incompetent, the genre of the song is all over the place, intermixing into techno, heavy metal, pop, opera, etc

Cotton Candy: completely useless lyrics, extremely average-sounding pop, doesn't give us an idea who Beezlebub is or what she really does, the lyrics conflict at certain points

If I missed any, then I probably didn't pay attention to them and therefore probably wouldn't care about them even if I relistened

Yessssssssssss! Hello friend. Welcome to the chaos because I have been wanting to talk about my colors (plus Zelda and Shadow) playlist for forever and now I have a reason to do it.

But, before I start I need to explain some stuff and give the link. I've been listening to a lot of Gen Z Alt so, the themes are a little more dark and mature which will come into play in different ways for each of them. Some it's just the darker things they had to handle during their quest others it's post adventure and how they respond to that adventure. I had a lot of fun with this so, let's begin. Blue: "Angry Too" by Lola Blanc-

Blue starts off the playlist because they're my current favorite color. And because this song is fantastic. I don't think I could have ever found a better song for Blue and I take no criticisms on this song. It feels perfect for both the anger Blue struggles with in game and how I think they would struggle with it post game. To me this song shows the balancing act of reasonable anger and anger that is just there to hurt. Lola talks about how she tries to reign in her anger and yet how she still feels angry in spite of it even if she has control. She also talks about her anger not being seen when she has truly been hurt. And that is something I could see Blue struggling with because when is it okay to go bat shit insane and when do you need to hold it close and bury it deep.

I would also like to say that I absolutely love the trans!girl Blue head canons. I don't know what about trans!girl Blue makes me so happy but it just fucking does.

Let me first give some context for this. I've always seen Green as a leader even though we really don't see much of it canonically. He just has the aptitude for it and would be the most reasonable of the four to do it. I can't see anyone else doing it. Now, this is where my old college leadership minor comes in. There are numerous different leadership styles let alone getting into the what you need to be classified as a leader or the ethics of it. We're gonna keep it simple tonight though. The main component of a leader is to be able to guide a group of people to complete a goal. The style I see in Green is Servant leadership. You normally aren't going to as easily notice Servant leaders as they aren't generally giving the orders. They instead help and guide their team along the path to achieving their goal. Now, I could actually see him being a more standard style of leadership like giving orders to others( he also has a lot more interactions with the knights so he would have their trust.) but to those who are closer to him he won't. He'll just guide them to success. Now, that my need to blather about leadership has been satisfied let's talk about the song.

I see this song talking about two different things. Either this is calling out Vio right before they fight or this is him letting anyone know that fucking with his princess will be met with annihilation. In essence he's over here saying back up and back off before he uses his skills (and leadership) to make you wish you had never thought of this. This song to me really shows how far he could go if pushed to the extreme.

Green is Zelda's right hand man. Prove me wrong.

Red: "My favorite things" by Elliot Lee -

Red! The hardest one to find a song for. Oh God, it took me forever to find something good for him. This isn't even his first song I had a different one originally to keep with the darker themes but it was also way too dark and just felt more like an extreme version of him than just a mature version of him. Then came along this masterpiece.

Context time again!!! My grandmother had a music box with the original of this song that was placed in my brother and I's room when we stayed there as kids. The og version of this song is my childhood. The whimsy, innocence, love and beauty of being a kid. So, when I found this song after reading a really good red chapter on AO3 I knew this was the one.

It's dark and gritty but the words are about all these things you love as kids. It's the perfect epitome of Red and how even in the worst parts of their adventure he still keeps to his heart and believes in others. His strength of heart is amazing and needed to be treated with respect on this playlist.

Vio: "VILLAIN" by Neoni -

Vio is a pain in the ass as expected of him. I actually have a smaller playlist for him but none of those songs vibes for what I wanted for this playlist. I needed to show both his darkness and his light. He couldn't be one without the other and this felt good for that. He needed to be both the good guy and the bad guy or in this song both the hero and the villain.

Vio is complicated and as much as the manga feels like it tries to put his allying with shadow as him deceiving shadow the whole time, I just don't believe it. I think there's a little bit of darkness to him that he is willing to let out to achieve his goals and though his goals are righteous his actions still cause harm. And this song gave me that vibe through both the music and lyrics.

It's a song of feeling at the end of your rope and deciding to say fuck what everyone else thinks I'm gonna do what is necessary to make everything better no matter what it is. This is one of the songs I don't think many people would disagree with me on.

Love when people decide that Vio says fuck gender it's a nuisance because same.

This is just canon.

But seriously, if you want a song talking about the betrayal and confusion shadow must have felt at the end then this is it.

The song tells the story about having loved someone only to find them gone and not knowing whether they actually loved them or not. And what to do now? They have no idea. The only truth they have is that all fair in love and war. Shadow had grown a strong friendship with Vio and was hoping that they would be together for life only for Vio to betray him and now he doesn't know what to do. He's stuck in this in between of continuing to follow Vaati and Ganon or going after his once friend and whatever that may involve. Having to choose between someone who actually saw him and living. Living himself or watching the one person he cared about be destroyed by Ganon and Vaati. It's heartrending and this song really shows the confusion and dread behind these moments.

Cat shadow headcanon is best headcanon. Liquid shadow is a good boy.

I find it hilarious that so many of us look at shadow and just see a future good boy and then look at Vio and see the darkness he could be. The two really bring out the other part of each other both good and bad.

Vidow is characteristic tragedy and I love that about them. Realistically they would never be able to work due to how they hurt each other but that's the beauty of it.

The leading lady of the hour is here!!! Just like Shadow's song this is just canon. I will be taking no criticisms on this either. I will fight anyone who thinks she just stood there. You do not get Zelda being able to actually change Shadow's mind from her doing nothing. She was absolutely working to change Shadow and help him become the good boy we all know and love. It wasn't just Vio that helped Shadow. Zelda played her part in this and that is why "Army" fits her perfectly.

She would do anything for the colors and Shadow. She has their back every single God damn day and she would fight anyone who dares to fuck with her best friend and hero. And she has an actual fucking army if they need it. Zelda is their main support and she wields that trust gracefully. Zelda if anyone ever dared to talk shit about the colors + shadow: "What did you just say about this country's hero and my very dearest friend?(said threateningly)"

Percy knows best how to wheel and deal with nobility and so he’s got to at least pretend that he’s interested in what they’re talking about. That’s hard though when he keeps watching you make your way through the room

He stays pretty professional though and doesn’t really speak to you until the mission is over and you’ve all reconvened elsewhere. Then he’ll make sure you know how well you did, how great you looked, and how he wished he’d been by your side

Percy will probably sneak the two of you away somewhere quiet to enjoy a slow dance or two together before the evening is over

Scanlan

Is actually part of the distraction with you. He’s dressed to the nines and walks in with you, though he wishes he could tuck your hand into the crook of his arm

Scanlan does what he does best: awesome lyrical creations with magical flair. Most of the songs are about you. You two get everyone’s attention very easily.

He’s also very skilled with his tongue ;) and manages to get info from the people y’all end up talking to at the ball. The two of you as a pair is just very charming

I should have already known as soon as I saw the lyric/song you chose that this was gonna hurt bad, but I still was not prepared for how bad. Side note: I listened to Happier while I was reading it for the second time – I do not recommend if you don’t want your heart to break even more.

I know I said I wanted Paige to suffer… WELL I TAKE IT BACK- my favourite blonde has suffered enough 😭

Her entire drunken monologue about what she would have done if it was her that took Azzi on a date- fuuuuuck I can’t- but oh man it was so well written and so heartbreaking.

And then oh- that last part and when she realised that it wasn’t her that Azzi was looking for (although I still believe that subconsciously, it was a certain blonde that she was searching for in the crowd)

another long ramble this wont get out of my head!! ur words hav enlightened me! a bit wish washy i may hav repeated some stuff but man i hav sooo many thoughts. when u mentioned how some of ur favorite prog rock songs feel more like a journey rather than conventional music experiences it rlly struck a chord in me. rlly! its such an interesting take bc it did make me reflect a bit on king crimson's *titles* in particular and their longer songs, specifically. theyre like chapters, is what ive came to realize a bit too late knowing ive been listening to king crimson since 2021... i really wish i had taken the time to delve into their lyrics. (moreover on lyrics, i did have a long conversation about starless w a friend before,, i really liked the themes of torn relationships and betrayal within the song! richard palmer james, someone who helped write the song stated that the song was actually about ending a friendship of sorts. interesting. [http://www.elephant-talk.com/wiki/Interview_with_Richard_Palmer-James_in_Tylko_Rock], tho honestly i could see many other interpretations of it. another song i analyzed, that time on my own, was fallen angel... which still makes me pretty damn emotional to this day.) the narrative parts of kc makes me think of lizard (the song, not the entire album), part one being labelled "prince rupert awakes", w v lively and descriptive lyrics. (expressing themes of royalty and social hierarchy. alluding to rupert's arrogance in being able to wipe out the enemy.) and then nearing the end of the song, is "prince rupert's lament", paired w an instrumental which expresses his death in battle!! while i hav listened to this song countless times (inadvertently bc spotify's shuffle features sucks ass) and have gotten a bit frustrated, i never rlly took the time to rlly take a look into the *beauty* of the lyrics of lizard... i jus rlly appreciate how subtle yet very profound and rhythmic the lyrics are... even if it seems like gibberish at first glance u can still make out some sort of meaning given that u have the patience n time. jus like listening to the song itself u have to take in all elements of sight (reading, obviously jbddb) and hearing.

i love the attention to detail in verses 4 and 5 in part 3 (battle of glass tears) (moreover i think this is one of the most beautiful fuckin things ive heard in a king crimson song), showing the passage of time from night to day as the soldiers fearfully yet ambitiously prepare for battle. as soon as the sun rose, they (id presume) said their prayers before they marched into battle. usually sunrise is associated with more positive emotions, but in this case id assume rupert and all of his underlings died. glass tears are also a real-life phenomena, very strong hardened glass... earlier in the song there were allusions to eyelids being torn (ouch) and yeah i can see the logic behind that bc glass cuts thru things. i think it touches on the bloodshed and lament of the battle rupert and his soldiers fought!

i feel the last portion of the rlly ties into the darker aspects of the song which i had overlooked, initially...!!! i feel that part of the prog rock experience, at least w listening to king crimson, is to immerse urself in the lyrics i guess. cuz while u may get a good 10min of instrumentals (bolero), i jus find it so fascinating that even smthn as "simple" as that could withold immense meaning to the artist which makes it shine or stick out.... fripp mentioned that the segment of lizard, bolero, was the only thing that didnt cause him intense misery. (https://www.dgmlive.com/diaries/Robert%20Fripp/simon-amp-robert-have-returned-210916) which obvs provides a lot of insight into the making of the song and album itself. twas a bit critically received and fripp called ppl who liked lizard "strange" iirc. heh. i enjoyed looking up random ass takes abt this song online. and also using my own brain. i think it adds to the experience a lot, like i said. i should def go check out echoes by pink floyd and take ur interpretation into consideration, ofc. X)

I don't have much to add since I haven't thought about them as much as you have, but yeah, absolutely. Progressive rock is fantastic at immersion and telling stories through the music just as much as the lyrics. Some of my favorite songs seem strange on the surface, but become better with thought and repeat listens. Hope you like Echoes, of course. (Pink Floyd also made an abridged 16-minute version a little while later, which I think was a good call despite my love for the original.)

3- has me foaming at the mouth. It’s a rlly good album and I wish it was under a label so I could listen to it on streaming services and whatever else. I def wouldn’t want it to be remade tho cuz it would remove the lo-if feel to it fr. Some songs don’t go as hard as others, so 9.5/10

MBIKMB- I LOVE stoop kid (their live version version has me convulsing its so good), something soon, POW, and Happiness for Sadness? All. Bangers. 9/10

Monomania- depicts romance and break ups perfectly imo (I’m acting like I’ve dated multiple people..) . Sleeping With Strangers makes my heart melt every time, the instrumentals-seusbsjskjsjbsb. This is the album that makes me sing in the shower ong. I love every single song, all cohesive, perfect. 10/10.

HTLT-I often overlook this album because I forget, it’s hot people stuff and I’m not hot🔥🔥🔥 but I can’t explain why I like it, it’s different, but good at the same time. I like kimchi Warui sm, but, uh, I found that song by watching a Will Toledo fancam (I won’t elaborate <3) 10/10

Teens of Style-I don’t rlly care. No offense, but I don’t think there are any new songs, so unappealing. Whatever’s on there, though, is ok. 7/10.

Teens of Denial-I’m gonna say it now, I’m basic. I love this album a lot and I love Drunk Drivers/ Killer Whales (it doesn’t have to BE LIKE THISSSSS, killer WhAaales, killer whAAAAAles). 1937 Skate Park and Destroyed by Hippie Powers are great (what happened to that chubby little kIIId?!) so is Vincent, can u tell I’m into his voice cracks? I also like Unforgiving Girl, too. 10/10

Twin Fantasy (both pretty much,) - Everyone talks about this album, the favorite, the famous. I was reluctant to listen to the longer songs, but it was worth it. I love Beach Life-in-Death and especially Famous Prophets, the guitar riffs send me somewhere else, man. Nobody talks about Cute Thing, by the way?? Makes me kinda annoyed..underrated. Both versions have their ups and downs but yeah, I like the newer one. 10/10

Nervous Young Man-I have NOT listened to all 20 songs. Sorry. I love Knife in the Coffee (one of his first songs I heard fr), I Can Play the Piano, Jerks, Homes, We Can’t Afford and….yeah. To me, it feels like the perfect album to think about your life to. Not to be weird, but I’m a sad guy, and this album just hits different, and it’s not rlly about romance this time so you can relate it to other aspects of your life :) 10/10

MADLO-is this what you wanted to see? My rating here? Well, I’m based when I say I LIKE Hollywood. Yeah, fight me (please don’t, I’m weak), but I wish it wasn’t in the album. Martin’s good, Can’t Cool Me Down…haven’t listened to this album a lot. It’s alr, but not as good as the other ones, so 8/10

Living While Starving-Yesssss. I love ‘It’s Only Sex’, especially the intro. Oh! Starving originated from 3, but still good. I Hate Living isn’t one I listen to but it gets stuck in my head every time. 10/10

Disjetca Membra-nobody knows this album. Except me, I’m different. Drunk on a Work Night and Sinner do it for me, man. Drunk on a Work Night lets me think it’s ok to be PISSED, you can hear the distress in his voice as he sings it too fr. Sinner-omg-when I first heard the lyrics my jaw dropped, 10/10

but daddy i love him: I LOVE how she adressed the fact that every single time she dates someone people on the outside who don't know shit about her personal life want to include themselves in it and give their opinion and i love how she wrote the song in a sarcastic fuck you way BUT since it's about matty i feel like most of the opinions on their relationship are justified bc of who he is and the things he said so i feel like most of us were just looking out for her in the way we were against it you know? like there were reasons why people hated them together so much. ALSO SHE NAME DROPPED ME??? EXCUSE ME TAYLOR???

SOOOO basically, i feel like this album was made from the deepest depths of taylor's mind written specifically for the people who get her and have been loving and supporting her for a long time... like there is no proper poppy single or song for the general public on there which is why i think so many people on social media have slammed the album and said she really missed the mark with this one but if you get it and if you understand the situations she sings about bc you've been thorugh them with her it's such a meaningful abum about her heartbreaks, mental struggles, struggles with fame and not feeling like real person but also about her healing journey and seeing the funny side of people having an opinion on your every move you know? i love her. i truly do. mastermind. ❤️‍🩹

✎ suddenly got this brilliant idea while going thru fanarts that "hey- doesn't ayamitsu kinda look like mizisua-?" Plus there's also their love for (rock) music to consider. Tho ofc in alien stage it's kinda forced cus it's also for their literal survival unlike genuine pleasure. But anyways- here it is. my signature dose of angst :) inaccuracies might be there as i've only recently joined the alien stage fandom (not exactly joined it but i've been looking at stuff for a while now) and because of "reasons" i actually haven't heard the titular song yet so i've only gone thru the lyrics and written this. but i have seen the vid atleast and that's just my take on sua perspective?? idk cus i was also heavily influenced by ivantill. anyways, thats enough- i hope you nonetheless like it despite its flaws :D

i've poured almost all my poetic abilities into this and have written this entire thing in one sitting while my eyes are burning due to lack of sleep. but yea- enjoy! hope u shed a tear or two ^^

Lights flashing, theatrical smoke billowing from the backstage, the spot light halts still at the centre of the stage. Mitsuki hears the crowd roaring and realises that in a few minutes she'll be taken up on the stage, ready to perform.

With Aya.

She feels nerves dampen her spirit and fears her strength wavering. What awaits her on the stage might be her doom.

Or worse, Aya's.

And she can't allow that to happen.

So she'll do her best. They both will. To form a draw. So that neither of them are eliminated. But if the worst comes to worst, Mitsuki decides, she will be the one to bite the bullet. Because sweet Aya should not have to.

Her legs would've dropped her had she not be held up by strong arms. Nimble fingers briskly unclasp her collar that beep against her throat before giving way.

And without warning she is pushed forward in a dark abyss that welcomes her with coldness.

Assaulted by the sudden glaring lights and unrepentant force she stumbles and braces herself for a sharp fall. That never comes.

When she looks up she finds herself lost under clear blue skies and cherry blossom trees of the Anakt Garden and then she hears a lovely voice that gently holds her hands and brings her away from serenity. She realises she'd been staring at Aya, drowning herself in her pretty eyes and prettier smile that beams brighter than sunshine.

Then they're introduced to their grotesque audience who sneer at them like they're caged animals in a zoo. Mitsuki jumps away from Aya's hold as if she has been scorched and the hurt Aya bestows her with definitely burns her heart a little. But it had to be done, their spectators didn't enjoy the sight they'd put up just now.

Affection and love are, after all, a taboo to the aliens, and they wish to exterminate it from their feeble human souls too.

Else why would they have Mitsuki standing before Aya, ready to duel her to death with the voice Aya had always admired? The voice that had drawn Aya to her. Aya, whom she'd ensnared with her golden melody like a siren with her sailor.

Kind Aya should not be here, not in front of Mitsuki, not smiling as if they do not know the consequences of this battle.

They both take up their places, behind their respective microphones and Mitsuki, eyes closed, starts with a single note, "Oh...."

Her voice echoes through the arena and she feels the resonance of her voice coming back to her. And Aya's unflinching stare.

"My Clematis. Hope bloomed from the abyss." She is standing in an open field, where lush greenery runs as far as one could see, eyes closed she sings to the wind that caress her rosy cheeks, the dance with her hair, that hugs her in its cool embrace and promises to not let go.

"Oh my Clematis," chimes another voice with hers, like a ring to her bell, and then she stops and looks to her side. Aya finishes what Mitsuki had started. "Always be by my side."

Then all she remembers is laughter, a happy memory. And then the scene vanishes, into the depths of the ocean of her mind, where she is drowning.

With no Aya to anchor her.

From there begins another memory, another she'd made and cherished with the girl by her side. It is a happy one too. Although there lingers an unmasked feeling between them.

They're sitting under the shades of heaven, watching the stars together. Or well, Aya is atleast, because the only star that Mitsuki sees is standing with her. Oh, how she wishes she could have this star woven into every fragment of her unfortunate soul, to never part.

"The galactic starlight," they harmonize, like two chords intertwining into an indelible melody. "In your eyes spread out."

"In the endless darkness, I find you with your scent." She reminisces the smell of fresh meadows and flowers. Flowers that Aya blooms with her smile as strong as sunlight, as startling as a perennial river, as unbounding as zephyr.

"Even if I sleep in infinity, don't leave my universe," Aya sings, staring resolutely at Mitsuki as if daring her to deny the words she spills as the truth.

Oh, but Mitsuki knows- she has learned with countless reminders of lips stealing her breath away, of being worshipped as deserving of a goddess unlike her- that she is Aya's universe, so how could she ever leave her strung in an relentless world such as this one they're caged in? Mitsuki would rather chain herself to eternal damnation than forsake her one true salvation.

Mitsuki laughs, for the first time, in a long time, when she finds Aya catching fishes. Mitsuki is in love, for the first time, and a long time, when she watches a sunset. A sunset she'd never thought would bring her nostalgia. Nostalgia about a hug and warmth she'd always sought.

She finally opens her eyes, and drinks in the beauty that Aya showers her with. Carving Aya's portrait with a chisel and a mallet, she leaves her as a permanent blessing in the stone that is her heart, never to be withered for Mitsuki is the curtain that enshrouds her glory into her chest, only meant for her to uncover and behold.

There is silence ringing around them and for once the world halts all movements and the aliens that spectate them seem to hold their tongues, and it's just Mitsuki and Aya and their tiny world that rests in the cusp of their palms.

"Oh my Clematis. Hope bloomed from the abyss" The world restarts, the loud shouts come back and Mitsuki misses the transient peace she had been granted. "Oh my Clematis, always be by my side.

A panel flickers into view and Mitsuki waits with uncanny stillness and sure enough, her image is shown alongside Aya's, marking them as opponents contesting in the first round. 

Mitsuki thinks about another precious memory of hers, this might be her last, she realises, because she can sense the awaiting end that comes nearer as they pitch the songs towards its final chorus. Her first meeting with Aya, when they'd met eachother's gaze and Aya had been the one to shyly break the contact while Mitsuki had stuck out her tongue, embarrassed at having been caught when she'd messed up a note. 

And then Mitsuki smiles, with a hint of laughter in her eyes, not because of the fond recollection but rather an omen. For she knows what's about to come, for she also knows that it would break Aya's heart and maybe her soul, but never her body.

Because Mitsuki will be her shield, and the selfless part of her would take the bullet for Aya while the selfish part of her will die, carrying Aya's love with her into the afterlife. Their scores are counted side by side but all Mitsuki sees is the countdown till her impending end.

Like the young Mitsuki in the memory she too had messed up her finishing note, but unlike their supervisor at Anakt Garden who had not bothered to point out her mistake or perhaps had never noticed it in the first place for Mitsuki had always been a diligent perfectionist, their alien audience here won't be as kind so as to turn a blind eye to the obvious flaw. Sure enough there was a difference that she'd been anticipating.

A difference of a single digit.

She can already hear Narita admonishing her in the back of her mind. She hears him call her heartless and a coward for taking the easy way out and eliminating herself in the very first round, leaving Aya in the dust to pick up the pieces of her heart shattered into smithereens.

All alone.

Because Mitsuki chooses her defeat than Aya's, for the pink haired girl's survival would be her greatest victory.

He demands from her, how she could be so cruel? To abandon the person she loves, who loves her back, to the pain of losing a loved one?

But wait, isn't she doing it for Aya? So why is it so cruel of her?

Or is it cruel of her because she will let Aya suffer her lose instead of taking the burden on herself? When she'd often claimed to ease her sorrow and dry her tears.

But can she bear the prospect of having Aya's blood on her hands, especially if she knew she had a chance to prevent it? Unlike Aya who probably still has no idea of the death-trap they're dancing in.

But she can ponder no long because when Aya turns her excitement towards her, her face is splashed with red and her eyes have lost their glimmer, as if she is the one to have her life snuffed out of her.

Or maybe she is.

After all, it is Mitsuki lying by her feet, warm blood seeping out of her now cold body.

Right where she should be. Right how she should be.

Cause in the end it is Mitsuki who lost since she committed a fatal flaw and not Aya, lovely Aya, chosen by the people who've voted for her.

Chosen by Mitsuki. Chosen over Mitsuki.

Chosen because she is what matters in Mitsuki's bleak world.

Aya, her galaxy that holds her as the sole universe.

Aya, her most beloved devotee who has built her a shrine in her heart and offered her love as prayer.

any octavian/octkahale song recs? i've been listening to 'we will commit wolf murder' (of montreal) a lot recently and i feel like it kind of fits octkahale but honestly it might just be my brain projecting them onto it.

I will never shut up about them and Vampire Empire by Big Theif. I think about them everytime i listen to it, honestly. So, this, as I see it, if from Mike's perspective, talking about Octavian, more specifically Blood of Olympus era.
