some random road to hell au worldbuilding that i dont know how to seamlessly integrate into the actual fics themselves so have this Lore Dump instead:

magic is a force of nature in the world of road to hell. everything is affected by it, and everything either creates or consumes it. most typical humans are unable to tangibly affect or channel magic, but they generate enough to sustain themselves. there are a few very rare individuals who can completely nullify magic in the space around them and are unable to be harmed or helped by it (called voids, nulls, or suppressors interchangeably)

magical creatures can use magic in specific, very limited ways. for example: werewolves use it to shift between their human and wolf forms. vampires can no longer make enough magic on their own to sustain themselves, and therefore have to consume blood from others to supply it. fae have a more broad range of magical skills, but most lesser fae are confined to things like glamours, mild enchantments, etc. a limited amount of magic remains in their corpses after death, which means that there is unfortunately a lot of black market trade around things like werewolf claws, vampire fangs, fae bones, etc.

"mythicals" aka dragons, phoenixes, court fae, etc, generate enough magical energy that they can do incredible feats. its how soap was able to hide himself from typical military magical checks, and how farah can heal herself and others. its a double edged sword, though. this means that even after death, mythical creatures' bodies still contain a MASSIVE amount of magical power, and that magical power can be used and abused in very creative ways.

there are also three main schools of magical humans (they're not quite human, but not quite creature so they dont really apply to either category but no one knows where to put them: witches, sorcerers, and wizards

witches can only use magic through living things. they dont have to be living anymore, mind you, but they use things like blood, bone, plants, etc for their magic. sorcerers, on the other hand, channel their magic through inanimate objects. often they have a specialization - stone, metal, or wood are the most common - but anything inanimate is fair game. some skilled sorcerers can even use electronics as a channeling device. the last type, wizards, are the most rare. they pull magic straight from the source without any need for a third party conduit. as such, they are incredibly powerful but highly volatile and were often either hunted or contained

Ok I know you probably already figured out alastor's role in your soul eater hazbin hotel au, but im just picturing him as like the Excalibur of the au.

This ask is so fucking funny, I laughed for like half a minute over the mental image and had to draw it. I actually already had him planned to be like the Masamune(Tsubaki's brother) of this AU, but sure why not!

So if you're not familiar with Soul Eater, in this AU Alastor is a cursed blade that's kinda like a parasite to his meisters. He feeds on the soul of the people who use him and takes control of them. He has stitches on his clothes and mouth as a reference to the fact that he puppeteers his meisters, wrapping his strings around them, similar to how you need to have the chains of his blade wrap around you to use it.

He's generally against the academy cuz, duh, he's got a rotten soul, but he also has a personal vendetta against Lucifer and his students because his mother was a witch and it was one of the Death Scythes who ate her soul. He regularly eats witch(and human) souls to get stronger though.

Husk and Nifty are the Free and Elka counterparts, a werewolf werecat-witch duo who are under a big bad's command. (They're a cat n mouse? Get it? Alright...) Alastor is perfectly capable of fighting by himself, but he finds a certain kind of satisfaction in having a meister under his control. A human is certain to die under prolonged partnership with him, so he has non-humans like Husk and Nifty use him when he's not in need of a snack.

While I was hyperfixating on Monster AUs, I did one for Homestuck (I think I did this one around the same time I did the Vocaloid one).

I had fun assigning monsters to Homestuck characters, and I even learned about a few cool monsters I'd never heard of before!

Explanations:

John and Jane are both still human, so they're not in the pictures; if I had made them monsters, John would be a living doll and Jane would be a ghost

Rose is a demon (because she likes dark/spooky stuff)

Dave is a tengu (because crows and katanas)

Jade is a witch (I know it's unoriginal, but hear me out! Jade already had some witch qualities even before she ascended -- gardening = potion ingredients, Becquerel = magical familiar, etc.)

Roxy is a sphinx (Roxy was a little harder to place, but I felt like a sphinx fit best -- a cool cat lady who speaks in mysterious riddles)

Dirk is a dullahan (Dirk was another one who was harder to place, but I ultimately settled on a dullahan, since Dirk loves horses and has been decapitated twice)

Jake is a werewolf (because it was the only fitting option for him honestly)

Aradia is a grim reaper (because it's basically canon)

Tavros is a faerie (but like, the twist is that he's an unseelie faerie, the types of faeries that would normally be malevolent; but he's still his sweet self and he's always like "but what if I don't want to steal people's names, blight their crops and kidnap their children just because they were mean to me once? Why can't I be nice to the humans instead?" and the other faeries think he's weird)

Sollux is a mothman (because he can sense impending doom, just like the Mothman!)

Karkat is a kanibozu (Karkat was THE toughest one to assign a monster to, since there weren't a lot of crab monsters I thought were suitably "anthropomorphic" enough. I decided to make him a kanibozu, a yokai that takes the form of a giant crab that kills temple priests and then impersonates them. I like to think Karkat sees himself as a "good" kanibozu who only kills corrupt temple priests, but the thing is his standards are really high, so his definition of "corrupt" tends to include shit like "littered once")

Nepeta is a werecat (Nepeta was going to be a sphinx, but I decided that suited Roxy better, so I looked for something else for Nepeta. I learned that werecats were a thing and apparently a subset of witches, so I went with that instead)

Kanaya is a vampire (duh)

Terezi is a dragon (specifically a dragon who operates under American Dragon: Jake Long rules, in that she's sapient and can disguise herself as a human)

Vriska is a jorogumo (a beautiful, man-eating spider lady who charms men into her lair so she can eat them? That's Vriska's dream life right there!)

Equius is a centaur (STRONG horse!)

Gamzee is a goatman (I thought about making him a killer clown, but that would be boring; plus, as a goatman, he can keep his horns!)

Eridan is a gill man (because he's fishy, but not as fishy as Feferi)

Feferi is a mermaid (again, it's unoriginal, but come on, is there any other monster she would be?)

Calliope is an angel (because she's a messianic cherub)

Caliborn is a fallen angel (because he's Calliope's opposite)

Finally, I've gotten this list all done and typed! Not lying, this took me literal days to finish since I couldn't think of monsters for some girls and kept switching species around! Luckily, the people I've asked say this list is good, which at least gives me some hope that I made the right choices for these characters. I'm not gonna lie, I can't wait to make spec evo bios for these girls and go into the culture and worldbuilding for monster/non-human societies~! And I'm gonna remake my old Bios now that there are more characters and I have some new abilities for them~! But for now, hold on tight, because this AU Revamp is just getting started!

im proud of this single panel in a comic i sketched for a stupid paranormal au i made with my husband, so i wanted to share it here. backstory under the cut ig if youre interested

venture (earth mage/necromancer in training under baptiste) and junkrat (fire mage/alchemist in training under [reluctant] ana) decided to try and summon a hentai monster in the basement of the elemental school campus for shits and giggles, only to accidentally summon the nefarious incubus roadhog, run away in fear, and forget to close the spell out

reaper uses the portal to escape hell and get revenge on the witch of the wilds, who sent him back to hell after he eliminated the entire time mage village for refusing to share their abilities with him. he finds out that theres one left, lena, who has no clue shes even a time mage to begin with (she thinks shes just the witch of the wilds' apprentice)

genji is an all black werecat with some missing fur patches (shimada family line of demon hunters but at the time of a kill he hesitated and got turned, so yanno. hanzo "killed" him) and he just hangs around between moira's magic shop and the campus with cassidy, his werewolf boyfriend [hes a german shepard])

Halloween season! So monster AU Lawlight. What do you think they would be? The rest of the cast?

Fun question!! I'd say in a Haloween setting we'd have:

Light: Demon, particularly one with powers of compulsion, contracts, and death. Makes a contract in exchange for a life, the contractees never get what they think they will and all end up dying of heart attacks. Alias Kira, goal to purify the world. He's a pretty young supernatural, only a year old after dying as a human at 23. Demons are humans or supernaturals that died with unfilfilled desires, but ones so strong they become demons rather than ghosts. Helps if they contracted another demon before dying. They can also very sucessfully pass as the human/super they used to be, making them difficult to find.

L: Vampire, very old and powerful, has spent most of the last few decades napping. May or may not have been due to an epic sugar crash. He heard Demon blood tastes wonderfully sweet from an anonymous source and now wants to confirm >v>. Goal: to have cake and nibble on Kira.

Misa: Witch, she's been working ages to make a love potion that works on a demon. Has been unsuccessful. In the meantime tries her best to kill L with unique spells. Also unsuccessfully. A very powerful witch as she has a demon familiar who shares her powers with Misa.

Rem: Demon familair, Misa's in particular. Her original form was something aquatic, deep sea horror-type supernatural. She bound herself to Misa willingly out of love and gave Misa full access to her powers. That's why Misa is a very powerful witch despite still being human, and why Light keeps her around.

Ryuk: Also a demon, but uncontracted. Was a tengu before dying. He was the one that made a deal with Light was the latter was human, and the reason Light was reborn as a demon after dying. Is having the time of his life.

Mello: Vamp, sired by L so he took some of his traits. Mello was dying one night from a gang fight and L saved him and then just vanished. Mello wants to meet L to ask him why he turned him. He's competitive against Near. Doesn't try to control his bloodlust at all, and becomes the head of the mafia that killed him in a very brutal takeover.

Near: Also a Vamp sired by L, doesn't care as much as Mello does, but is still curious to meet him. Was half-fae on his mother's side but no one knew it since he was an orphan, the fact that he managed to turn successfully into a Vamp shocked a lot of people. Is under constant watch by the US government. He can control his bloodlust very well and has muted emotions. He's ambivalent to Mello.

Matt: Sylph, electric specifically. Likes to static shock people for fun. Was Mello's friend when he'd been human but didn't tell him about the supernatural community. He and Mello are sometimes at odds because of it since Mello thought they'd told each other everything, considering they grew up together.

Watari: Mad Scientist/Professor Fankenstein type. Can bring inanimate objects to life. He woke L from a very long sleep and now works with him to police the unruly supernatural community in exchange for the blood of criminals L catches. His main goal is to stop Kira.

Kiyomi: Siren, her voice and words can compel people to believe her. Acts as Kira's public voice. She thinks her voice works on Light; it does not.

Mikami: Werewolf or werecat. Hates it. His main goal in life is to be able to suppress his animalistic transformation completely. Hates both humans and the supernatural community, loves Kira for culling them.

Matsuda: Wizard. Very bad at it lmao, but born into a powerful family so he has access to a lot of good tools and relics for hunting demons.

Soichiro, Sayu, Sachiko: All human, Light's family whom he still protects. Light pretends to be human still and lives close to them. Soichiro knows about supernaturals since he works in the government, and has his suspicions of Light.

Rest of the cast: a menagerie of humans and otherwise, but my brain is tired. In general, the governments of every country know about this but keep it quiet for public panic reasons.

So, yeah, thanks for the fun question!! It ended up turning into a whole AU with background involved lmao.

OceanBerry/Chucky TL AU Idea: After a while of being with the Rays + John (Buddy would be 10 years old at this point), John trusts Eddie enough since they've been good friends for a while at this point, he performs a Soulmancy Familiar Spell (yes I replaced the Voodoo in the franchise with something new I call Soulmancy) that basically gave back Eddie a human form, but at the cost of being a Werecat (which works very similarly to how a Witch's Familiar works)

He can now turn from his usual cat form into this (hairy af) Human Form, a Halfway Form/"Beast" Mode, and an actual giant Werecat Form!

He can only be in his fully human form for a couple of months at a time before needing to go back to his cat form (and still shows off cat-like features even in his human form, such as slit pupils and more hair everywhere)!

Summary: Being head librarian and bookkeeper for the Alliance of Shifters, Sahali spends her days inside the quiet and quaint Hudson Valley branch. When a threat surfaces, one that affects all shifters, the founders of A.O.S seek the help of one of their best investigators; the retired lone wolf Frankie Morales. When Sahali is sent to locate him, her curated world changes drastically.

Well to go into more detail, I only have one that's fully fleshed out the rest are in crossovers with other characters that I won't get into.

the lore is VERY complicated and is a big discord rp

But the one I can describe is the first version of the Monster au:

Yu: The Vampire. Move in with his vampire uncle and lil cousin (Nanako is a baby vampire) to a middle of no where town with possibly more monsters then humans. In a town where everyones special in their own way, Yu is dedicate to helping everyone know that. All the while Yu learns more about being a vampire.

In this world there's a class/race system, from [werewolves < undead < humans < magical creatures] Werewolves are pretty low because you are just a glorified DOG! So some people would want to hide that, especially how come anyone could be a human. And a human could ALWAYS be a monster hunter; Yosuke knows ... from personal experience.

Yosuke: The Werewolf trying hard to be a normal teenaged boy. Ever since he moved here no one knows that he's a werewolf, which is honestly GOOD! He rather be known as "the clinging loser human" then "the clinging loser dog". Yosuke thinks the world is unfair seeing how he's the only one to be a werewolf (it skipped a generation)

Yukiko: The maiden Witch. She continue the family tradition of witchcraft and their monster only inn. (please don't make Hotel Transylvania jokes.)

Chie: The Witch Princess of the Pumpkin Patch. Her old traditional family owns the oldest and biggest pumpkin patch of Inaba. Single handedly saving the economic with their pumpkin beef bowls. Chie is still a learning witch, so the one time she tried to make a more effective scarecrow... she accidentally brought it to life and now they live with Yosuke.

Teddie: The scarecrow. After just being created and living with the Hanamura family he really feels like a person! Teddie looks plushy like but with hay and some stray stitches, STILL VERY CUTE. (just to let you know I headcanon out Teddies hornyness from canon so hes a good boy) Teddie and Kanji are good friends because...!

Kanji: The Frankincense Monster. Made by his late deceased father and taking care of by his mother. Kanji currently going through a identity crisis and trying to figure out what makes him a man or what makes anyone a PERSON?

Rise: The Succubus idol. Unlike her older succubus colleagues from the underworld, Rise is half human and feeds of the attention spans of humans. If you give her good vibes then she'll return it! But there seems to be one boy that took her heart and gives her zero attention of day. Rise's google history is just "how to make a vampire like you?"

Naoto: The Werecat scientists. previously was the fifth generation of well trained scientist then turned into a werecat overnight. Kanji as his assistant they will find the cure for werebeastism.

I've been indecisive of this au being a flatout p4 but everyone is monsters or a slide-of-life comedy?
