Can you explain the expat thing? I'm just genuinely curious. I don't understand what's wrong with moving somewhere more affordable when you can't afford to live in the country you're born in. People migrate all the time, that's the point of the post. As long as you're respectful of the new society and culture you're moving to I don't see what's wrong? In America, I'm damn near close to being homeless every other month. I routinely can't afford groceries and rent, I haven't been to a doctor in years because even with insurance and working full time we can't afford it. I don't see what's wrong with wanting a better life for myself and family.

its not wrong to want a better life and emmigrate as long as you pay taxes in the other country. and especially when you come from a "stronger" to a "weaker" passport. and im speaking specifically abt americans bc before this president the requirements to enter mexico as a TOURIST were way laxer than say, if i as a mexican wanted to enter america. plus most americans that call themselves expats come to mexico on a tourist visa (not a residency), overstay it, do not pay taxes, rely on the exchange rate to pay cheaper in pesos with their american paychecks, when the mexican minimum salary is ridiculously low, esencially gentrifying and making everything way more expensive. did you know the cost of living in mexico is more expensive than say, dublin? and the tax rate on salaries is higher than most countries? the average rent price in mexico city is probably around $18,000 pesos and the average salary is probably around $15,000 (and im being generous, most mexican families live off insanely low income). and most "expats" also come to mexico, be racist to mexicans who are in their own country, expect to be spoken to in english instead of learning spanish, expect their food and drink preferences to be favored and have an air of superiority. and ykw this isnt even limited to americans, europeans do it to.

you best believe if a mexican immigrant behaved the way "expats" do in mexico in america they would get deported at the least and probably hate crimed. the disconnect is crazy.

again, its not wrong to want better opportunities, but its crazy to me american immigrants call themselves "expats" and call other immigrants illegals like theyre inferior just from their nationality.

and just to add when americans and europeans emmigrate theyre most likely going somewhere less expensive. everyone else is going somewhere else thats way more expensive and difficult to emmigrate to.

I got into the Batman fandom ages ago purely through reading fanfic and then attached myself as a lurker on it for forever. I always thought had no allowance(?) on my headcannons since I only interacted with it through fanfic until I fairly recently stumbled across your blog and realised how much of your characterizarion just feels so insanely specific and niche but almost entirely perfectly inline for ( at least for my headcannons of) Bruce.

I've never written fanfic, only original fic kept in my dark spaces but I doubt I'll ever come to such a clear understanding of even my own characters much less some other IP. Its impressive the unique situations you come up with to dump him into, anad even more mind boggling how you keep him so consistently him when makaing him react to all these situations.

I would see comments based off those situations and think yeaha thats Bruce butt then you'd reblog after withba expanded take and I would think no that. THAT is HIM SPEAKING.

Anyway that was a really roundabout way to say that I've truly enjoyed pretty much every single take you have had on Bruce and whole heartedly agree and I now wake up to refresh exclusively your tumblr blog because I'm not online for anything except ao3.

Oh thank you so much! That’s so kind of you to say. I definitely have not mastered Bruce as a character, but I like to think I’ve gotten better with his “voice” in the last few years. There’s a few traits we share (not many, thank god) that make it a little easier to get into his mindset. Plus there are so many talented writers in this fandom, it proves to me every day that there’s no “right” way to write him. And I love that.

Modern Maul would be so reserved at first towards you. He would ask questions but not answer any about himself. But as you get to know him he is basically just a stray cat.
