what did you think of the new episode???
OH LORD i had a lotttt of thoughts on this episode, understandably. CONTENT WARNING FOR DISCUSSIONS OF SUICIDE AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THIS POST (it’s a long paragraph). also obviously spoiler warning for 2x08.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 1-800-273-8255
please reach out to somebody if you’re feeling distressed after this episode, or if you or a loved one is considering self harm or suicide. im always here if you need somebody to vent or talk to. i love you all and i would be devastated if anything happened to any of you.
anyways, episode discussion below:
-first of all, the corgina scene at the very beginning was PRICELESS. tiff and corkie had it DOWN until tiff lost her cool. i was DYING. casey wilson invented the word “fuck.”
-marcus/dawn and connie/mo double date. this whole scene had me CACKLING. marcus being such a comrade was not at all what i expected. the three-on-one connie smackdown i could not BREATHE. also includes classic moments such as “we’re doing black shit right now keith” and regina stealing every scene she’s in. also WOMEN xosha roquemore (connie) in dark lipstick is the best part of s2 prove me wrong
-also kind of out of order but dawn calling mo her best friend did not sit right... like in my soul. it’s like inherently wrong. so STRANGE to hear her say that.
-but connie sucks at being subtle lmfao dawn was not having any of that
-“i can’t vote. im a felon” just out of nowhere GOD. and the fact that that’s the first time dawn’s learning that mo went to prison is fucked up. i’ve never seen a woman want a man to shut up so badly, and i’ve never been so glad that said man did not shut up lmfao
-tiff and blair’s apartment looks so good yes god!! also this season keeps referencing blair’s parents and it’s kind of putting me on edge. especially since next episode is “blair [being] forced to revisit his past.” on another note, andrew’s voice in this scene is SO FUNNY. you can tell he’s a voice actor i think
-also like we knew blair was into older men but now we like know lmfao. the richard gere jokes had LAYERS these writers outsold
-ok blair&tiff’s relationship... yikes. i cannot tell what the writers want their relationship to be. are they unhealthy and toxic and bad to each other? or are they platonic soulmates and life partners? make up your MIND, showtime.
-DON’T INFANTILIZE THE CUP BYE KJDFHGDFKJ
-first blarris scene was TENSE. acting good
-the confirmation that roger has kids... i mean i suspected it from the moment tuc’s character was announced in september but it makes the ending so much more painful. i KNOW that’s the only reason why they pushed the fact that the harrises are parents in this episode, bc it was never confirmed earlier.
-i hate how funny michael hitchcock is. im trying to hate newell but im laughing. why are his lines so funny who wrote this.
-the sound design in this episode was a lot to take in. the music was intense asf and it stays intense throughout the whole ep
-keith cracking onto blair and trying to reconcile with him bc he’s feeling empathetic but blair shutting him down... can’t say keith doesn’t deserve it but i would’ve loved to have seen keith and blair just talk about being closeted and having affairs and shit.
-THE TRUMP CHILDREN LMFAOOOO they all look so smug the casting was great this ep
-mo shit talking connie TO HER FACE bc he knows connie can’t give up the act... fucking priceless i love to see it acab
-dawnroe physical contact hhhhh can you tell im rewatching this ep as i type this
-the wording on the “you’re with the FBI?” line is so perfect. bc it makes it totally sound like dawn’s onto mo and connie when really she’s just like “you’re siding with the FBI bitch?” highkey genius line
-posted this too early by accident oops. im still editing im not done yet lmfao
-MARCUS MO AND DAWN SAID ACAB FUCK YES
-ROGER GRABBING BLAIR’S HAND I AM ASCENDING. i knew about the hand holding scene there but i didn’t think roger would initiate it <3
-roger nearly kissing blair :’/
-LORD the trump children are little shits god
-daddy says it makes me look hot. you mean cute? ...no.
-oh GOD not this blarris scene. i like to believe that a gay person generally wouldn’t threaten to out another gay person on principle, but blair has shown how shitty of a person he's become all season. i hate it and it’s still ooc but i’ve seen worse on this show tbh.
-roger’s got a point, if he supports his campaign fund manager right off the bat, he’ll look like a total fraud and his career will be over. the fact that blair barely gives a shit really speaks to what his character has become. “fuck them” what a classic line
-ANDREW’S ACTING!!! his voice when he says “you use me” ugh i felt that in my chest. plus roger looking away after he says that... i mean god this cast is so talented
-blair snapping god. he’s got a point, he and roger have been dysfunctional asf all season. doesn’t justify threatening to out somebody AT ALL but finally hearing some emotion out of blair, a little bit of anger and frustration, it’s refreshing.
-does “who are you, blair?” count as a parallel to “who are you, pfaff?” from 1x01?
-blair outing roger to newell... yikes. again ooc and bad. blair’s a shitty guy but we’ve seen him have empathy before, even in s2. why would they make him do this i don’t get it.
-keith finding out about lenny is good. maybe something will finally come of this arc?
-parallel to 2x02 with blair mentioning his mom’s phrase, cool. probably gearing us up for more references to his parents next ep, culminating in a flashback to his childhood in 2x10.
-this scene where the trump kids are destroying everything is classic. you can genuinely tell that everybody there was having so much fun shooting that. idk, it’s nice.
-trump reveal HA what a great end to that scene
-keith coming by and fucking everything up... i mean i guess everybody KNOWS now. dawn/marcus is over (good) and dawn is probably right pissed at mo rn. but hey, fuck em all resurgence!!! ive been waiting for it and now it’s here!
-im scared, what’s connie gonna do? fuck cops
-“that’s a long way to go just to get a dig in” “it was a stretch but-” see what happens when you’re a narc? you lose your wit :/ sad! nice exit line from connie tho
-CW SUICIDE MENTION. ok time to talk about what definitely needs to be talked about. god this has had my chest hurting all day yesterday. i knew blarris would be outed eventually bc sho likes to milk every plot point for every bit of drama they can get out of it, but i did not expect roger to take his life. and blair finding him is just devastating. i said this on twt, but the fact that somebody could be so overwhelmed with internalized homophobia that being outed could cause them to commit suicide is so incredibly and deeply sad to me. i’ve been crying for a while over that fact.
im just. im really sad. i’ve connected so much with these characters over the past two-ish years and this is such a devastating turn of events. i have no words. it isn’t bad writing or ooc by any means, it’s just so extremely and incredibly sad. there are probably thousands of people who have been in roger’s exact position before, and the realism really hits me hard. i can’t put into words how overwhelming sad this makes me.
also pretty upset that this came as a COMPLETE shock to me and all my friends. we all watched on the sho streaming service, which did not have the “viewer discretion advised” card before the ep. the premier did, but the episode on the app did not. i really REALLY wish they had added that before i had seen the episode so i could prepare myself, even if just slightly. also wish they had added a suicide hotline number at the end.
seeing blair grieve his loss is going to hurt but it’s probably going to give us closure too. i think about this show all the time, and now thinking about it makes me so overwhelmingly sad. i sound dramatic but this show has been with me for so long. not being able to see much of blair’s reaction beside the initial shock has been haunting me. im so scared for what the future episodes are going to bring.
thank you for reading, i love you all <3

SEPTEMBER 9: Jane Ellen Harrison (1850-1928)
Scholar, linguist, and one of the first women in to become a “career academic,” Jane Ellen Harrison, was born on this day in 1850. Known for her famous lectures on Ancient Greece religion and mythology, Jane had multiple relationships with women throughout her lifetime.

Jane Ellen Harrison was born on September 9, 1850 in Cottingham, Yorkshire. Because her mother died just a few days after Jane was born, she was raised by a series of governesses; it was her governesses, all hailing from different parts of Europe, who laid the foundation for Jane’s love of languages. As a child, she was taught to speak English, German, Latin, Ancient Greek, and Hebrew and she eventually mastered 16 different languages during her lifetime.
After leaving school, Jane became a teacher at Newham College, a women’s college at Cambridge. It was at Newham where Jane met the woman who she is believed to have her first relationship with. Eugenie Sellers started out as one of Jane’s students, but after she graduated and became a poet and a writer in her own right, she and Jane became partners in earnest and lived together first in England and then later in Paris. During this time, Jane began to turn her studies to Greek mythology and art. She studied at the British Museum under Charles Newton, published her first book, The Odyssey in Art and Literature, and even began to publish writings in Oscar Wilde’s periodical Woman's World. Her topic, unsurprisingly, was "The Pictures of Sappho."
Tumblr media
Hope Mirrlees (left) and Jane (right), who lived together from 1913 until Jane’s death in 1928. Although Hope was simply believed to have been a “devoted student” during her lifetime, it is now understood that both women were in a romantic relationship (x).
Eventually, the relationship with  Eugenie ended, Jane moved back to London from Paris, and began brushing shoulders with the city’s famous Bloomsbury Group (Virginia Woolf, a member of the Bloomsbury Group, name dropped Jane Harrision in her novel A Room of One’s Own!).. It was in these social circles where Jane first met the translator and novelist Hope Mirrlees. Their friendship eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship and the two would stay together until Jane’s death on April 15, 1928. At the peak of her career, “Bloody Jane” was pulling in thousands to hear her lectures on the violent and bloody realities of Ancient Greece and to witness the “ingenious sound effects and gas-powered lantern slides” that she used in her presentations. At the time of her death, Jane was an academic celebrity and had changed the way the western world saw women intellectuals.

didilysims said: I’ve heard that the toddler needs to be able to walk first to escape, but I see it so rarely I can’t say one way or another. I wonder if it’s related to personality–maybe active points?
I don’t know. It’s just so confusing. Andy and Benny definitely hadn’t learned how to walk when they ‘first escaped’. And both of them have six active points- so only slightly above average-...
didilysims said: Yep, Harrises is correct. Just like keeping up with the Joneses. English is weird. :D
Then again, the German language has compound nouns like “Oberdonaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänswitwengesellschaft” (a true classic). I guess every language has its quirks.
holleyberry said: You done fucked up Joe.
Joe has early on presented himself as someone who has... issues. Fucking things up is what he does. Maybe one day he’ll stop? Or he’ll eventually fuck up really bad (if breaking up with your pregnant girlfriend, cheating on your fiance and trying to force your ex-girlfriend into getting custody of your son- whom he has never seen, by the way- isn’t “fuck up really bad”).
holleyberry said: Poor Komei.
It was so heart-breaking. He wouldn’t stop crying for quite some time, I almost regretted breaking them up. But considering Joe just kept flirting with Sandy when left unsupervised (it happened again when I played one of the other residents and he bought some groceries. Went to the grocery- Joe and Sandy flirting. At least Komei didn’t have to witness it this time. You know what’s what annoyed me the most? I put them in “ACR friendzone mode” ages ago.)
didilysims said: “Toddler-Adult-Elder-Dead” ha ha ha!
It’s true, though. I always hated that they had such shortened life spans. Even with all the benefits added, they still feel... incomplete.
audreysims14 said: The grilled cheese aspiration is cute and a fun quirk, but even as a secondary it really does take over their lives!
I wished other secondary aspirations would interfere with a Sims primary aspiration as much as the Grilled Cheese secondary. Or maybe it’s just the fact that there are only like five wishes the aspiration rolls.

LEEDS UNITED 2 DERBY COUNTY 0 Leeds United: Peacock-Farrell, Ayling, Alioski, Cooper, Jansson, Forshaw, Klich, Clarke (Davis 79), Harrison (Shackleton 63), Hernandez, Roofe. Subs not used: Huffer, Halme, Gotts, Stevens, Roberts. There's not been much joy for Leeds United since the euphoria of Boxing Day, so it was fantastic to be at Elland Road to witness this comprehensive demolition of Derby County (who now seem to be officially known as "Frank Lampard's Derby") which - depite mounting problems on and off the pitch - really threw down the gauntlet to the rest of the Championship.... Our seven game winning streak came to an end when we lost 2-0 to Hull City on 29th December - a bad day at the office. We then doubled down by losing 4-2 to Nottingham Forest on new year's day, in a match that was mainly decided by two refereeing decisions that went against us. We started badly and conceded an early goal. A few minutes later, Jack Harrision was brought down by the last defender when clean through on goal, but the culprit was only shown a yellow card. Not long after that, Kalvin Phillips was given a dubious straight red, so we had to play most of the game with 10 men. Nevertheless, we didn't disgrace ourselves and I couldn't help feeling that things would have been very different if either of those decisions had gone our way....
We also got knocked out of the FA Cup by QPR, but that's not a big deal. Marcelo Bielsa gave nearly all his senior players a much needed rest and the bench consisted entirely of youngsters, five of whom had never played for the first team. Lewis Baker made a rare start, but was recalled by parent club Chelsea the next day, and they immediately loaned him to Reading, who will offer him more first team football. Leeds have also loaned out of favour defender Conor Shaughnessy to Hearts for the rest of the season.
There was no incoming transfer news prior to the Derby game, but we did get an update about the injury situation. The good news was that Liam Cooper was ready to play and that Pablo Hernandez, who picked up a knock against Forest, would probably make it. However, Barry Douglas also picked up a knock against Forest after returning from illness and is not expected back before the end of January. Patrick Bamford, Gaetano Berardi and Stuart Dallas should also be available before the end of the month and it looks like we might finally get to see Izzy Brown make his debut sometime in February. And then - as if to re-confirm that Leeds United can boil piss like nobody else - "spygate" broke out.... The day before the Derby game a man who was "acting suspiciously" was approached by police outside Derby County's training ground, and after it became clear that he was an employee of Leeds United who was watching the Derby team training, he was asked to leave. In a pre-match interview with Sky Marcelo Bielsa admitted that he had sent someone to observe the training session. He also claimed that he was solely responsible and had not informed the club of his actions. Leeds United then publicly apologised to Derby and issued the following statement after the game: “Following comments made by Marcelo Bielsa yesterday the club will look to work with our head coach and his staff to remind them of the integrity and honesty which are the foundations that Leeds United is built on. Our owner Andrea Radrizzani has met with Derby County’s owner Mel Morris to formally apologise for Marcelo’s actions. We will make no further comment on this matter.” Bielsa also phoned Frank Lampard to explain what he had done, but refused to apologise. His post-match comments were more defiant: “I’m not trying to justify anything. I’ve just explained why I feel I’m not a person who cheats and why I accept any reaction this behaviour creates. Things are as English football says. I have to respect the habits and traditions of this country. I would accept any sanction the club takes against me and any sanction the federation takes against me, and also the judgement of Derby County. This episode affects me. Of course the win is important. The only thing I’m going to apologise for is to have contaminated a football game with this subject. If I was a child, I would say I won’t do it again, but I wouldn’t feel right responding like this and would lose credibility. I won’t say that I won’t do it again. It’s a childish position to answer like that.” To say that "spygate" led to a media frenzy would be an understatement. Poor little Frank was terribly upset while various pundits called for a points deduction, a replay and Bielsa's head. The FA have also promised to investigate the matter.... The game itself was a sell-out and the atmosphere inside Elland Road was electric. The fans were 100% behind the team for the whole 90 minutes as well as repeatedly chanting Bielsa's name. He fielded the strongest team at his disposal, and handed Jack Clarke his first league start. The bench mainly consisted of kids with squad numbers in the 40s and 50s.... It was the best performance I've seen from Leeds this season and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that we played Derby off the park. Leeds dominated the game from start to finish and were denied a definite penalty in the first minute when Gjanni Alioski (who was excellent at left back) was brought down in the Derby box. The referee initially pointed to the spot but changed his mind after a conversation with the linesman, who had raised his flag for offside. Replays confirmed that it was an incorrect decision. However, it was only a matter of time before we scored, as the Leeds team treated us to an awesome display of high energy, high press Bielsaball while all Derby could do in response was chase shadows and commit fouls. With Cooper partnering Pontus Jansson in central defence we were also solid at the back, and Adam Forshaw made sure that we didn't miss the suspended Phillips in the midfield holding role. Best of all, Clarke showed us why Premiership teams are apparently lining up to try and tempt him away from Leeds at the tender age of 18, with a man of the match performance. After wasting a hatful of chances we finally broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when Clarke got behind the Derby defence and delivered a low cross which Roofe guided into the net at the near post. We doubled our lead in the second minute of the second half when Clarke strolled past them for the umpteenth time and sent in a high cross that Derby keeper Scott Carson managed to claw away from under his crossbar. The ball fell to Alioski at the far post, who slipped at the crucial moment but managed to divert the ball into the path of Jack Harrison, who tapped it home from close range. We should have had a second penalty a few minutes later when Pablo Hernandez was taken down in the area right in front of the referee, who pretended not to notice. Derby had a couple of half chances but the result was never in any doubt. The only worry was a brutal lunge at Pontus Jansson in the last minute which required treatment and left him struggling to stay on his feet. After the final whistle he had to receive more treatment before limping off the field. I hope he's OK.... Leeds finished the weekend at the top of the table, four points clear of Sheffield United in second place. Whatever happens next, this season has already given us more than its fair share of unforgettable moments. Supporting a normal team must be really boring....

A Shit Ton of Columbine Links
These are the links I’ve gathered over 2-3 five years of extensive research on the Columbine shooting.  Included in this is almost everything anyone could think of. Literally, everything there is to know should be in this post. I bolded each of the URLs that I frequent the most. Message me if you have anything to add, please! Note: I do NOT condone the actions of either shooter and I take interest in the subject purely because I find the psychological side of it fascinating. My heart goes out to the victims.
EDIT: I made this post more than two years ago and it is such a mess, so I decided to clean it up a bit! Enjoy to those who still use this post :)
