sometimes i'll just be thinking about farsight and i'll get all worked up and excited over her tragic death and how dramatic it was and her doomed relationship with mastermind and how sweet and genuinely nice she was and all the funny things she said and then i'll stop and go oh wait...

she only showed up twice, and her only character traits are nice, morrowseer didn't like her, had two children, and also she's dead.

nobody else even cares about her like it's just me, the one person farsight fan club.

Wings Of Fire Protagonist batch!

ok ok so this is actually a bit old- but I'm re-uploading it here because I like it! These are my head-canon designs for each of the protagonists!

I know a lot of people have talked about this in depth but I feel like the Mudwings lack of focus and the flanderization of Mudwing characters like Clay isn’t just something tied to Wings of Fire. Like am I the only one who feels like societies in fantasy similar to Mudwings don’t really get a lot of worldbuilding in general? I can’t really name any specific examples or anything I kinda just have a gut feeling. It just feels like Tui wanted seven dragon tribes and when coming up with the Mudwings she was just like “well, they like mud and live in swamps. And uh… the first book’s main character is one but… oh yeah! He attacked the other dragonets at birth but then it’s revealed it was just what bigwings do! Okay. That’s enough worldbuilding for the Mudwings.”

Which tends to make me quite sad because Clay is one of my favorite characters and while the Worldbuilding isn’t the best, Wings of Fire worldbuilding for tribes like the Rainwings or Seawings is awesome and it sucks that Mudwings and some other tribes didn’t get the same treatment! And it kinda feels like Mudwings are just a mix of Sandwings and Seawings because Tui ran out of ideas and wanted seven tribes. Like, think about Mudwing abilities, their only unique quality to them is that mud heals them sort of ( although it’s never expanded upon or brought up after Clay’s book ) and being really strong which while cool, couldn’t like an Icewing just get super buff and match the strength of a Mudwing? Their other abilities are being able to breath underwater for like an hour and being able to breath fire. Some Mudwings are also immune to fire which is really cool and honestly one of the best “rare special abilities” the tribes have that isn’t too overpowered but they still kind of just feel like a mix of abilities Tui wanted to use but didn’t know what tribe it would fit into so she just threw them all at Mudwings.

Well, on the brightside, the fandom has really worked hard to make their own headcanons and worldbuilding for Mudwings! Also, at least their abilities are more fleshed out than Leafwings who can like… 30% of them can talk to plants

Peril the Skywing

(Based on the firebird from slavic folklore)
