Okay so today I’m drawing Wolfwalkers. 

(Re-)Introducing a Wolfwalkers OC I made just because I love puppies...Faolàn Goodfellowe... Whom I imagine must have been quite a challenge for his dad when he was little. (The mom is used to this... Bill had only been a Wolfwalker for max a couple of years before this little guy came along.)

As somebody who really enjoys cartoon saloon, I find myself looking for similar content all the time. I'm certain I'm not the only one who does this so I figured i would compile a list of content that scratches the same itch as cartoon saloon's itish folklore movies

So here we go!!!!

1. The Daughters of Ys

Media type: graphic novel

About: The daughters of Ys is a graphic novel vatiation of a Brenton folktale. The art, story, and writing are gorgeous, and this is my top pick for similar content. I would sell my soul to get this animated.

2. The Moorchild

Media type: novel

About: The Moorchild is a piece of children's fiction about a half-folk half-human, changeling girl. Despite being a children's book, it's one of my favorite pces of prouse. The story is engaging (even the second time around) and is better than most adult fiction I've read. Audiobook versions are available, too.

3. The Last Unicorn

Media type(s): Novel, graphic novel, animated movie

About: The Last Unicorn is a classic novel with an animated movie and comic adaptations. The 2d animated movie was released in 1982 by the Rankin/bass company. The film itself is whimsical. The animation is impeccable and is worth the watch for that alone. Also, they twinkified Prince Lir, hes so hot, oml.

There are several graphic novels from what I've seen. Each of them are just as good as the movie, but they tend to contain more of the world building.

The novel is worth the read even if you've seen the movie already. The lore and worldbuilding are so tasty, and there's so much cut out of the story cut out for the movie and graphic novel. Audiobook versions are available, too.

January's crossover image features Wolfwalkers! I've done a few crossovers from this studio and like the others this movie is beautiful and tells a compelling and enjoyable story that's brimming with European influences. The story involves a wild girl who can turn into a wolf, and a girl who gets brought into her world. I would talk more about it but I really think people should just see for themselves how good it is.

Day 11: Wander

More concept art for my Encanto/Wolfwalkers crossover. Will post this separately with some other pieces for the Encanto OC event.

Day 12: Spicy

I will never pass up an opportunity to draw spicy noodles. This is Wagler's pit viper (Tropidolaemus wagleri). This species is one of the most strongly sexually dimorphic species of pit viper in the world. Females are massive compared to males, and are colored completely differently. Males are mostly green, while females are black and yellow with white spotting.

Day 13: Rise

Dawn of the dawn zombie. Coffee is the only known cure, and some individuals are impervious to it.

Day 14: Castle

Not much to say about this. Lilo and Stitch build a sand castle. More practice with my watercolor markers.

This is a fan art of a drama fantasy webcomic, This isekai maid is forming a union !  by frostlight comics Which is a deconstruction of the otome isekai genre publish in most Asian countries like Japan and South korea  .

It shows its main character Bridgette, who is drawn in the style of Samurai jack and some of the animated movies like The Secret of Kells and Wolfwalker by Irish cartoon studio Cartoon Saloon . Especially that its style was inspired from the story within the season 1 finale called the Maiden and the three princes, which Bridgette tells to his little sister.

Any good werewolf content? Like books or movies. I really love werewolves and I rarely see content of them online

oh gosh uh see i'm like in the same boat as you. it's very hard to find quality werewolf media that's not alpha male type smut or bad horror movies (though some of those are fun) or . teen wolf, which i have only watched a couple episodes of and cannot in good faith recommend

an american werewolf in london, ginger snaps, and dog soldiers are really good movies with very fun practical effects. one of my professors actually worked on the werewolves for dog soldiers! the howling is not a good movie but i kind of love it i can't lie. OH and you should watch the wolf man even though i don't love that movie; it's just really important to understand where the modern understanding of werewolves comes from! (edit: SOMEONE IN THE TAGS also mentioned van helsing and that movie sucks in such A Way but the werewolf designs ROCK!!!! all of the monster designs do. i have had a very specific vision of it where i make the main character a butch. maybe someday i'll draw that)

i have heard good things about the marvel miniseries werewolf by night but i haven't watched it. and if you do watch it pirate it bc fuck disney + marvel.

wolfwalkers is a really well-made and sweet animated movie i would solidly recommend to anyone. beautiful art style, great message, and a really fun interpretation of werewolves.

dungeon meshi has some fun lycanthrope stuff in some of the chapters!!

there's a comic i really love called "After Dark" (on Webtoon) and I have to admit I only have the time to see the creator's posts on instagram, which are snippets of the story. but I adore the art style and characters a lot. you can follow them on twitter here!

Night Class is another (mlm/werewolf) comic and I'll link its twitter here. Really dig the art style too!!

uhh but lemme recommend some of my favorite werewolf creators on tumblr too! because truly we are lacking in good lycan media and i would recommend more indie stuff to fill that niche in more interesting ways:

Werewolfmas..?

my bi-annual werewolf obsession got kicked into full throttle again and these two got roped in because of course they did. They’ve somehow managed to invade every page that I’ve drawn on for the past week so I decided it was finally time to make a little ref! I’ll probably end up adding things as I go, I’ve just been lazy and wanted to post something now since I haven’t in forever. Maybe I’ll even put them up on artfight… only time will tell.

I don’t have much else to show since I haven’t been drawing a lot 😭 first is a sketch of one of the earlier concepts and second is a comic I never finished because their faces were a bit too unflattering.

I think the animal jam Ingo still belongs here.

They’re really inspired by morrowind werewolves in particular (because I can never escape that game) I really love their stupid triangle faces and hunchbacks and weird legs. They also draw a lot of inspiration from wolfwalkers :D
