Like of fucking course those two would work together when Sukuna deeply does not care about any social rules to ever exist. Of course they do when Gojo is confronted with someone gay for him and not hiding behind anything. This is not survivable and i love them and care them. I even had written in the notes for my fic about Gojo being the person who generally prefers to keep things as they are but i couldnt actually formulate why i think that. You are so smart your analysis is so wonderful

This is also why I like Sukugo a lot. It's not just that Sukuna matches Gojo's freak, he enables it. Encourages it even. Makes it worse. Sukuna's existence is a twisted opposition to Jujutsu Society. It's very hedonistic, sadistic, and selfish but by golly it is rebellion.

The flattery is also appreciated, but please understand that I am very stupid and am capable of making mistakes. Alternate perspectives like yours are just as valuable. Which is why I'm shoehorning your tags on this post into this ask. (They are great tags and everyone should see them. Also I don't know how to respond to them otherwise.)

That's a fair criticism and even better commentary. I understand the aversion to some of the words I'm using to describe this. It's just that I don't know how else to effectively communicate what I think is the main issue. I do appreciate you're willing to hear me out on this though! (You're applying Umineko's "Without love, it cannot be seen." which makes me very happy.)

I'm US based which is a hypercapitalist hellscape, so when I talk about socialism it doesn't mean "do exactly what the Soviet Union did" (that would be very bad) but instead some of the ideas behind workers rights are good and desperately needed to curb stomp the type of labor exploitation they're experiencing. (Like unions for better pay, hours, and working conditions.)

Theory is useful because it give you the words to describe exactly what's wrong and the ideas that can guide you towards productive solutions. I can say Jujutsu Society is bad because of labor exploitation from the higher ups and therefore unions would help mitigate their power because I learned about those things.

Gojo and Geto don't have those words or background so they see part of the problem but have no name for it. And because they don't understand why it's happening, their solutions are surface-level treatments that don't address the real source of their suffering.

Toji was a symptom of the problem. Geto saw Toji as the entire problem so he thinks eradicating anything like Toji is the solution. Gojo saw Toji as a symptom and a potential solution to the real problem—Jujutsu Society. He recognized that Toji being strong is what helped him escape this problem so he laser focused on it. If he and his students are strong, they can change things. What things exactly? Gojo doesn't have the knowledge or time to dwell deeper on it. To him strength=revolution. He neglects the need for mutual aid, addressing overwork, and limiting child labor because the words and framework to deal with that are missing.

Gojo can't really do anything other than keep things the sameish because he doesn't know how the better world he's seeking works. (Similar to how you recognized this flaw of his, but couldn't put it into words since you didn't have them.) He both does things better for his students and screws them up in whole new different ways as a result of this. It's very tragic.

And everything wrong with Jujutsu Society is still just a microcosm of Japanese work culture that leads to this exploitation in the first place. Nanami is the only character that makes this connection and he has no idea what to do about it other than work where he feels less bad about it.

It's kind of like knowing a grease fire is dangerous but not knowing how to put it out.

This moment in Episode 42 is the moment that breaks The Untamed a bit plot-wise, I think. With Wangxian's mutual awareness that the final curse mark is for Jin Guangyao, we can't trust that they aren't motivated by self-interest.

I mean, of course Lan Wangji sulks when his brother insists upon evidence beyond "Wei Ying says he saw something" before he'll forsake Jin Guangyao; if they don't kill Jin Guangyao fast enough, then he'll lose Wei Wuxian for a second time.

And of course Wei Wuxian believes that Mo Xuanyu was a perfectly innocent victim whom Jin Guangyao falsely accused to cover his own crimes (he posits that what Mo Xuanyu really did was find out the secret in Qin Su's letter and try to warn her, despite zero evidence supporting this); if someone else must die so you may live, it's easier to kill them if you believe they're evil and deserve it.

And of course the show itself has to go all-in on saying that all the treasons for these eighteen sixteen years complotted and contrived in this land fetch from false Mowbray Guangyao their first head and spring, because otherwise the audience might notice that our two romantic leads have a lot to personally gain (or lose) from this and may not be purely motivated by a desire for justice.

I really hope next episode keeps the little detail of Laios offering Senshi a handkerchief when he’s crying. It’s such a sweet thing. Laios is bad at social cues and often doesn’t know how to respond to people! But he loves Senshi, and Senshi is crying, and Laios might not know how to make it better but he can offer something tangible and practical. If he doesn’t know what to say, he can at least give Senshi something to dry his tears with.

Nas'hrah I believe somewhere at the museum mentions The Girl and he says something along the lines of "--that kid, whatever her name was,--" which implies that she Did have a name, which makes sense (pretty much everyone but Enki would give her a name and he very explicitly was not the one who led her to ending A), but it's nice to have a canon confirmation she did have a name

Ive seenyou mention wuxia a few times now and i wonder what that is. Would you mind explaining it to me?

not the most qualified person to explain this as i'm not, in fact, from china; but i've read a couple of wuxia so here goes:

wuxia is a genre of fiction from china specifically, about martial artists in ancient china. i don't think a specific time period is like required? obviously some dynasties are more popular but idk how it goes in that front. it just has to be Not Today and probably Too Long Ago. like pre industral revolution i think. again idk if that's a requirement, but most i've seen are from around the same relative murky pre-electricity era.

xianxia is a subgenre of wuxia that's specifically more fantasy-like, and it's not just martial arts, but also spiritual powers and cultivation (which i have no fucking clue how to explain without two hours and three tangents other than chinese magic system. if you've ever heard of chi/qi as an energy, it appears there). so like- genshin is by all accounts a xianxia, it just doesn't use the more common specific xianxia terms like cultivation. some of those are very weird to translate and probably not common for the average non-wuxia reader, so it makes sense why they're going for alternatives.

chongyun and xingqiu and xianyun are very much straight out of a xianxia. xianyun's entire story quest was the closest genshin has gotten to a straight xianxia plot so far. i highly reccomend ashikai's video on unnecessary visions if you want more info on why genshin is a xianxia hahah

cyanide narwhal has some talk of some stuff from xianxia, but that's mostly because well- fucking liyue, that's how it works there. the whole light energy striking down someone who's getting powerful and giving them godhood if they survive the strike is, while not exactly like that, something that happens in some xianxia as well. like the way adepti work in general is just very xianxia. ashikai does a much better job explaining it than i do tbh but yeah

TL;DR: wuxia is chinese martial arts fiction in ancient china, and xianxia is a wuxia subgenre with more magic elements. also genshin is a xianxia

once again thinking about how so much of s6 liam and theo’s relationship is about theo choosing to do the dirty work so liam doesn’t have to. he went from trying to harness liam’s anger for his own gain to trying to help him get it under control— and even in triggers when he does intentionally piss liam off so they can fight to cause a distraction, he keeps liam from killing nolan right after. he tries to comfort liam (in his own Extremely Emotionally Stunted way) during the car ride home by pointing out how hard he tried to avoid hurting him. he does it again in the locker room, telling liam he’s making progress by not killing gabe— right before stepping forward and smashing gabe’s face right back into that mirror for himself to get the information they need. theo throws himself at the ghost riders as bait because he knows liam, despite his harsh promises, is too good of a person to do it himself. he pulls liam into the sheriff station bathroom and reality checks him about saving his friends and himself (also in the most Emotionally Stunted way possible) because he knows liam is sometimes blinded by his own idealism. he pushes liam ahead of him at the hospital and takes bullets meant for them both.

for someone who claims to relish in his own selfishness, theo time and time again shows that he’d rather get blood on his hands as long as it keeps liam from having to get it on himself.

While the JL continue to have a legal battle against the GiW, Danny is kept distracted by the batfam.

Why a distraction?

Everytime the case of the rogue government is discussed around him, Danny would get into an emotional defensive power surge. Like his powers would get out of control because his ghost side is trying to protect itself from the memories of what the GiW had done by forcing Danny to remove either himself from the discussion because of potentially harming those around him.

The first time it happens is with the JL trying to build the case originally by asking questions (one of the JL got too demanding) which caused the power surge. I think Black Canary managed to figure out the pattern (?), so the JL started questioning in spurts which is why it took so long to get the case built against the GiW about the Anti-Ecto Control Acts.

Whether it be an adoption fic or just an found family fic, Danny feels safe around the Batfam and within the Bat Cave. So while the very public legal battle is being broadcasted, the kids are keeping Danny distracted.

Anytime he does get into a defensive power surge, it's Tim that's getting him to calm down [why brain?].

Tim gets an idea from Danny's love of space (dual obsession?), and gets a blueprint of an Space Simulated Projection to work on. It's everything from fixing the blueprints to building the thing, which keeps him so distracted and something to do that he builds multiple with different types of projections (nebulae, black holes, shifting of the stars, ect) that it either gets donated or sold to local astronomy related areas (professors, planetarium, museums, ect.)
