I don't do word counts because they yuck my low-focus yum. I do checkpoints.
My writing goals for Project Mega are:
Herd A-story characters to X part of the story
Get the B-story characters to Y part of the story.
Get certain marked characters away from A-story and B-story into C-story.
Think of ways to weave in B-story-subplot-A and B-story-subplot-B if vibes.
I blame George R. R. Martin for this nonsense.

AuthorTuber Kate Cavanaugh defends the process of fast drafting. This is a method which I have begun to embrace (again), after years of procrastination.

What is High Fantasy
High Fantasy is a subgenre of fantasy; and probably what most people think of when they hear fantasy. High Fantasy is a genre of great heros, strange lands, and magic, made famous by works like Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia.
Key points of High Fantasy:
Takes place in a world different than our own (which usually tends to be less developed, usually medieval times; though it doesn’t have to be)
The world can be filled different fantasy races (humans along with elves, dwarfs, mermaids, ogres, etc.)
Usually follows a hero and his party fighting against a villain
High stakes: the evil is looking to enslave the world, kill everyone, etc. The entire world (or known world) is threatened; it is NOT a person struggle for the protagonist.
Usually, the hero is not a trained warrior or knight; though they are often in the story
Black and white morality; the good are good, the bad are bad. Some bad might pretend to be good, but no one's really morally ambiguous.
Usually, magic or a similar fantasy element plays a huge role in the main plot.
