As a French Red Cross first responder (my grandma's uniform) and a french soldier from GRDI (1939-40 cavalrymen that were lent to infantry).

Had an epic time with my reenacting group this past weekend. We had a lot of fun and the crowds loved us.

I also got to take some pretty cool photos this summer at D-Day Conneaut in Ohio. It was super cool to get in with the troops on the beach and take photos.

man I always love it when I get intived to a new discord server and joint the vc to meet new peeps, get asked where I'm from, say that I'm german and instnatly get demands to say something racist in a certain german dictators accent tossed at my head.

And then somehow I'm the unreasonable one and overreacting for just instantly leaving again.

I’m away reenacting for the weekend and I haven’t managed to finish dbf joel this week. I’m going to move to a fortnightly release schedule I think, I’m at risk of sacrificing quality for speed. Will update my master list to reflect that!

File this under pathetic and miserable but I hate how little history remains in my area of Germany. Like, we have two streets of old town and that's it, the rest got bombed to hell and back. Every time I see one of our historical, touristy towns I get jealous. I could easily see myself as one of those people who, in costume, tell tourists about the history of the town and its sights but we don't really have that. Even our castle is a backdrop and event location more than anything else...

When I did reenactment

I had the role of a Flakhelferin and a Flugmeldehelferin. Within the Luftwaffe. I played the role of a woman in the anti-aircraft corps and study maps for future plane trips and warn in case of bombing.

By the end of our three days we went to try out Benj's uniform with Illico, since we were very near. Cue why we both look so tired. Same as last time, WW2 French Cavalry (21st GRDI - created after dissolution of the 20th Dragoons) and French Red Cross first respondent. Illico was NOT having it so it was a little eh.

Makes me want to go back to horizon blue 😅 I liked wearing that uniform. Need a better way to hide my hair. At least as a dragoon I could easily blend it with the helmet mane.

I got my own pic with Indigo, and I'm not reenacting anything (specifying because I'm not into being bullied like I was last year on IG thanks 🙃), I'm just wearing what I had at hand so as not to denote while we were folding the tents (French (?) Army wool jumper tagged 1949 and HBT trousers which are 1943).

-listen to devotional playlists for Him I have one up on Spotify but I know there’s some others there as well!

-do a Wikipedia rabbit hole search about various weapons and/or combat styles from any era or a YouTube deep dive whichever works for you

-if able find and attend a reenactment my town does a little civil war thing a few times a year that I occasionally go to you learn about what life as a soldier was like and what training was like and all that it’s very interesting

-watch a video about Thebes! Ares is said to have played a role in its founding!

-learn about birds of prey!

-listen to a devotional playlist for Him

-adding to this with: listening to video game soundtracks from fighting/combat games, or listening to war soundscapes

THE UNDERLYING ETHICAL STANCE OF THIS GAME This game is not, in and of itself, an act of resistance; it is an act of creativity which reflects our frustration with the real world's ongoing nazi problem. For some players, telling a story of fictional and over-the-top combat against some of history's worst people feels fun and cathartic. For others, reenacting a fight against literal, WW2 nazis feels depressing or distasteful, or pretending to be a monster feels raw and upsetting. EAT THE REICH isn't for everyone, and there's no shame in not wanting to take part. That said, we think that in the real world, if someone indicates to you that they have chosen to become a nazi, you should consider violence against them within, of course, your abilities, safety and convenience before they choose violence against you or someone else vulnerable. We also consider anti-fascist violence meaningfully different from, say, violence against random orcs in a fantasy game. Nazis have indicated that they're evil, harmful, and oppressive to you by their choices, whereas killing an orc just because they were born an orc is definitely racist (and probably the sort of thing a nazi would do).
