let's be real cat boy scara probably just acts like my best friend's cat lmao: he'd be always kinda there, absolutely ignores you like crazy and if you go to cuddle him he'll give you one second before bolting away like you're bothering him but the second you get next another cat??? he'll come next to you and he'll hiss until you pay attention to him instead (and then he'll promptly start acting like you don't really matter the second the other cat is out of sight). and then i'd feel like he'd have the other habit that cat has of just. worrying sick when you're not feeling well. like, once i fainted while at my bestie's house and when i woke up i just saw the cat all wrapped next to my head and the second he saw i was well he kinda like, rubbed against me and then promptly left. i was told he stayed with me all the time when i was unconcious lmao. typical scara imo

albedo on the other hand??? i feel like he'd be like those cats that maybe will stay on their own, and will only let you close to pet him if you devote your time and patience to show him that you're a Good Person™. but once you have that trust he's in love for life. you sit down? there you go, catboy!bedo will kind of emerge from wherever he was hiding and fall asleep on your lap when you pet his ears lol

i can't really say about xiao?? in typical xiao behaviour i just think he'd be like those cats that have like, one (1) person that they like and absolutely refuse to stay around anyone else. if you're that person? good! dark fluffy xiao ears ti pet and cuddle with. but if you're not that person you're not even seeing him around

That is so accurate to Scara it’s almost crazy, only giving you comfort when you really need it - just a shame you can’t appreciate it because it’s so rare. I have a feeling when he really warms up to you it’ll be more frequent (more like he demands to be pampered sometimes) but for it only comes in very small bursts, and it’s usually when you’re not feeling the best. (I am absolutely writing about sick reader and catboy scara now thank u for this gold)

I do like the idea of that, but I also think Albedo wouldn’t really care if he gets pets or not from people. I think he likes to be close to observe, so I don’t think he’d be the kind to bolt off if he gets bad vibes from anyone. He’s too intrigued (curiosity killed the cat, as they say). But he is the kind to just walk away if he doesn’t want to be touched and sit somewhere else instead. Not a fan of touch if he’s not at least acquainted with them. Also, very good with kids? They’ll quickly learn he doesn’t like his tail or ears pulled, but he’s patient, and since he’s a cat boy instead of a full cat, he’ll gently explain that it isn’t okay to pull like that. Cue Albedo and Klee snuggles !! But I absolutely agree, once he likes you, you’re the love of his life. He’ll put his head on your lap and wrap his tail around you, looking up at you expectantly for pets. And when you touch him, his purring is almost immediate. And it’s so very pleasing when Catbedo purrs, I think it would be rather loud, the complete opposite of him.

Honestly, I’d say the same for Xiao. He hates purring with a passion because it’s involuntary and very loud. It’s also a sign that he’s vulnerable and, dare he say it, happy. He doesn’t like being that way with anyone, since it’s obvious he’s not been treated the best. He rejects you spoiling him and avoids affection like the plague when you first get him, but when he starts warming up, he’s a completely different cat. You only need to call his name and he’ll come out of whatever dark spot he was hiding in just to see you. Ear pets are strictly off limits if you don’t ask first - he’s very jumpy and he will lash out if he thinks he feels threatened. It’s not you, he hurriedly tells you, but he doesn’t exactly trust easily. Just respect his boundaries and he’ll be a cuddle bug just like Bedo. You never see him, but he’s always there, watching over you. Very, very overprotective of you. Hates it when you have visitors, he’ll just glare at them from the darkness so they can feel a constant foreboding presence (so they can leave quicker). But when they’re gone, and he has you to himself, be prepared for some of the best snuggles of your life. Very good cuddler, when he feels like he can open himself up to get to that point. Best sleep aid there is.

I'm a shenhe main who built her as a dps! I often use her with a freeze team with ganyu, kazu and koko. And sometimes melt with xiang and Bennett. She isn't really supposed to be used with everything but if you're stubborn enough any character can be a strong dps. I've beaten cryo characters with her pretty easily as well.

the character build flexibility is something i actually love about genshin,,, if you want to build shenhe as a dps and take her with you wherever you go, then that's absolutely something you can do despite all reputable sources begging you not to. i think i would be using her as cryo support for ganyu, but i will just admit here that i'm not totally sure how elemental mastery or support characters as a category work, but i am willing to learn for thigh windows. alas.

okay here’s a stupid idea for a crack fic that’s been in my mind for a while but which i’ll probably never write:

it’s modern times and immortal!reader and zhongli (or any immortal genshin character) are on a museum date; suddenly reader gasps and points towards a glassy display case featuring old love letters and small trinkets

fast forward to the same evening where it’s “i can’t believe you lost my letters to you!” and “do you know how hard it was to find this type of noctilucous jade and what a pain silk flowers are to press” and “if i knew this was going to happen i should’ve told them you’re an idiot instead of calling you the love of my life”

turns out a researcher got his hands on some of zhongli’s old love letters and all your meticulously crafted words of affection “are on display for the world to see!”

I can just imagine reader being pouty that Zhongli lost some of their letters, even though they were immortal and probably have written hundreds and thousands of words - paragraphs and paragraphs of endless confessions. And yet reader is being playful that Zhongli missed a few.

anyway i have been effectively shoved through the doubt stage so, is it narcissistic to say i absolutely adore this wip??? but it's one of those where it feels like it HAS to be perfect so sharing it is a little ahhh but the brainworms for it wriggled into existence after all the goddamn maxplaining and soft looks and cHaRLeS iS tHaT ThE mOnAco fLaG??? predominantly the soft looks tho (soft_wilted_cabbage.jpg as discussed) like dawg embarazzing. my favorite part (that i feel okay to share):

“How long?” asks Charles. “Have you, um,” he tries to elaborate when Max looks at him questioningly, but this is exactly the problem. Because Max looks at him like he has a thousand times before when that shouldn’t be the case, and it is the only thing Charles can think. 

Fortunately, Max seems to get it anyway. “I am not sure,” he says. “More than a year, I think. Probably more than two — a while, but I did not know what to call it, really.”

This is the thing about Max. Where Charles would worry or slant his words, Max simply. Says it. It makes it easier for him to glance out of the window for a moment, then say, “How does it feel?”

For a few seconds, Max only thinks. “A lot.” Charles blinks at him, waiting. Something that feels like a large mass of air growing in his chest. Horror, maybe, but he doesn’t remember it feeling like this — weightless. Max speaks to the clouds outside, hands folding over one other. “It is very difficult not to notice you — that is annoying sometimes, actually. It feels like I am always searching for your face. You have a nice face, by the way.“ That makes Charles laugh, and tilt said face a little into his seat. It is far from the first time he’s been complimented, but there is something so completely different about hearing it right now, with Max looking at him out of the corner of his eye like this, a grin lifting his mouth. “And a nice laugh.”

“Do you stalk my instagram,” says Charles, half teasing, half desperately trying to divert attention away from the growing heat in his cheeks.

Max tips his head up, stretching his legs out in front of him as his eyes close. “Only in bed. Now shh, I am going back to sleep.” 

So Charles is left, suddenly, to deal with a completely different heat. Which he does so by burrowing into his hoodie and trying not to look at Max. 

He succeeds in exactly one of these things.
