That moment when you waited ten years for both Kingdom Hearts III (actually, it ended up being a bit longer than that. But Nomura-san finally noticed that it had been a very long time since KHII at the ten year mark) and the fourth Madoka Magica movie. Heck, Final Fantasy XV, too.

Not an ask, but I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed chapter XIII “down the Rabbit hole”.
In particular I enjoyed how Katara’s reaction to Jets thievery . Especially, on how she questioned her belief in the inherent “goodness of people” and her own naiveté at first, but ultimately decided to persevere in her beliefs. Which is part of Katara’s character that I always admired in canon and in your stories. I also enjoyed how she didn’t let Azula off the hook (as it were) when it came to knowing about the theft for several months.
My favorite part about the (more immediate ) fallout though, was this line here “It was probably worth exploring why Azula's lack of truthfulness felt almost worse than Jet's betrayal”. I think we all know why it is so Katara. It’s cause your future wife has been hiding things. I eagerly await when Katara figures it out herself! But I’m also digging the sort of slow burn/sort of not.
@juniperhillpatient already noted the cowardice and general assholery of Longshot and Smellerbee in her own review, and I concur whole heartedly. While I understand the loyalty they feel to Jet, both Longshot and Smellerbee still held little right in holding Katara’s affects hostage on Jets say so. He was stealing from her after all. Hopefully someone can reclaim the stolen property. Maybe a certain gilded eyed beauty? Who’s trying to save the Northern lights?
Zuko’s obsession with the Seaworld Fire was hilarious thought this chapter! I am curious though, how many times did Zuko annoy Mai specifically? If he decided to excuse his continued thought process about the Fire with “self-pleasure”.
Jet pissed me off to hell and back in this chapter though. Which par for the course with Jet though… so usual stuff there. Lol. Specifically, though he angered me with his continued insistence on blaming Azula for “everything that had happened”.
Now, was Azula’s treatment of Jet’s testicular area crossing a line? Maybe. In all fairness he did swing first (sure Azula goaded him into it but that’s semantics). And we now have several reasons to refer to Jet by his new nickname, numbnuts.
And Jet is planning to join Zuko’s restaurant team. I’m sure this idea is not going to be in anyway chaotic at all.
This following line may only be a small part of the chapter, but it meant the world to me. "What an amazing idea, Jet," Longshot signed, possibly sarcastically” .
See I’m deaf/hoh, born with profound unilateral hearing loss in my right Ear. So while I would not strictly consider myself a part of Deaf Culture, I am in the process of learning asl and trying to meet other deaf kids my age (early 20’s) and the wider Deaf Community at my college.
When it comes to sign, it is extremely difficult to convey sarcasm. As sign (or at least asl) is a very literalist languages and their is no “tone of voice” that can be used. The only way can think of it being down is by either inflecting non-manual cues (the “tone of sign” if you will) or perhaps finger spelling sarcasm. Or using the formal sign for it. I’m only a novice (so far) when it comes to asl though. So perhaps their are other ways. Here is a picture of the sign below if your curious.
Tumblr media
Anyway, that fact that you add “possibly sarcastically” resonates with me here. I know that Longshot is mute not deaf, but it is the noted uncertainty in Jets POV on whether or not he is sarcastic, which makes me smile. Perhaps it was unintentional, but the fact that Jet was not able to discern if Longshot was being sarcastic just from signing alone (and possibly ignoring any other gestures) shows an awareness of this fact (presented above) and that is gratifying to read. So Thank you @theowritesfiction for that (and for the amazing Azutara content!)
Speaking of Azutara content? I really enjoyed the heart to heart between Azula and Katara near the end of the chapter.
I especially liked Azula stating that she basically knows restaurants like the back of her hand. But people (especially pretty girls) are out of her depth. If that’s not an Azula thing, I don’t know what is!
I’m glad that they decided to move past this! Azula and Katara will have to work together closely in order to do so, no?
My favorite Azutara moment would have to be the end though. When Azula learned that Longshot and Smellerbee stopped Sokka/Suki from retrieving Katara’s belongings and Azula basically just giving Katara her bank account so she can get new apparel for herself. That made me smirk, and Katara insisting an paying every dime back made it wider!
I also liked when Azula told Katara to also get things for her friends, and when she brought up getting things for Kya II in particular.
Katara’s line “just giving me money wouldn't have made me feel any less hurt, but… being so nice to my friends? That goes a long way towards making me forget why I was supposed to be mad at you in the first place” made me smile even more. Azula reaction in just basking in the thought of not only “salvaging her relationship” with Katara, but also making Katara smile was especially enjoyable. I can smell the romance in the air!
It was an amazing chapter @theowritesfiction !

PS: Azutara MAES now has several reasons to commence. Both Azula teaching Katara proper managerial techniques (the audit has to work out somehow…), and Katara “punishing” Azula for keeping’s secrets. It’s for the good of the restaurant after all😉
Hey, I’m glad you enjoyed the latest Kitchen Nightmares update, and thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Yes, I think Katara’s belief in the inherent goodness of people is not so easily shaken, so this was just a moment of weakness for her. And she held Azula accountable as well, although to her credit, Azula handled it well. 😊 I’m definitely having a lot of fun writing the slow burn, although as you will see soon enough, it will definitely be slow burn with twists. 😉
We’ll see, maybe Longshot and Smellerbee manage to contribute more positively to Jet’s character growth in the future. Right now, we’re in the ‘Jet is actively getting worse’ phase of the story, though! We’ll see how Jet’s plan of joining Zuko’s restaurant goes, and maybe we will also have an update on just how numb his nuts are. 😉
As for Maiko, well, I figure Zuko would be annoying Mai all the time in that relationship, but also, Mai would be very concerned and perhaps even upset if Zuko didn’t annoy her.
Thank you so much for your insights into sign language and the Deaf Culture. This is something that’s always a challenge to write without trivializing what is I imagine complicated and challenging way of communication. So, when I write someone interacting with Longshot, I always try to visualize if they have a clear view of Longshot and whether they can see the signs or maybe they have missed part of it or just plain didn’t understand the meaning of. I imagine that would often happen with this form of communication, and I thought including Jet's uncertainty of whether it was meant sarcastically or not would feel realistic 😊
Yeah, Azula without the social awkwardness wouldn’t be Azula. I’m sure she would be better in her interactions with the girls at the restaurant if she didn’t have a homophobic father and she didn’t have to be terrified about getting outed. But Katara, Yue and Suki are so warm and inviting, it’s going to be hard for Azula to avoid opening up. 😉
We’ll have a little flashback to Katara’s shopping trip in the next chapter, which I hope will be fun. 😊 and certainly, the potential of romance is in the air, but for now, they both remain pretty oblivious to that possibility. I hope the path I have in mind for them getting together will be fun to read – I’ll say that some of those ideas are pretty wild.
Lol, I had no idea that spanking technique was supposed to be in any manager’s arsenal, that sounds vaguely problematic and I love it. Maybe Azula will teach that to Katara, indeed. I'm sure there are plenty of exciting things all these girls could learn from each other. 😉
Anyway, thank you for this lovely message and for being such a loyal reader! I appreciate your support! 😊

SCoR - Section I, Ch. 3 "Language and Knowledge in Everyday Life"
summary of "The Social Construction of Reality" by Berger and Luckmann, gotta repost because Tumblr fucked up the article slugs and I couldn't link to individual posts correctly
I. Human expressivity can be concretized/objectified ("objectivation") and therefore the subjective can be made part of a shared objective reality.
II. The reality of everyday life is filled with, and possible because of, these "objectivations."
III. A "sign" is a special case of objectivation, in that it is explicitly intended to serve as an index of subjective meaning.
IV. Signs are clustered in systems, and as objectivations have a property of "detachibility" from the here-and-now; "a dance is less a part of the dancer than a snarl is a part of the snarler."
V. Spoken language i.e. vocal signs is the most important sign system compared to eg. gesture, movement, artifact, etc; it is language because of detachibility
VI. The detachibility of language lies in its ability to communicate meaning beyond the subjective here-and-now.
VII. Languge also possesses a quality of rapid reciprocity in face-to-face interaction; subjectivity can be synchronized. I also hear myself; my subjectivity becomes more accessible to me in conversation. "Men must talk about themselves until they know themselves."
VIII. Language has its origins in, and mainly references, shared objective reality. It is external and coercive; it imposes patterns in order to be successful as communication; it anonymizes as it becomes more broadly applicable.
IX. Language also integrates different aspects of everyday life into a more meaningful whole - "here and now" can also be "this and that," "then and now", etc.
X. Language can integrate non-reality as well, eg describing a dream embeds a disjoint "reality" into everyday reality.
XI. A theme that spans realities in this way can b defined as a "symbol." The linguistic mode that manifests these symbols is "symbolic language," characterized by maximal detachment from everyday reality. Religion, philosophy, art, science are examples of such symbolic languages/symbol systems, and are essential constituents of everyday life.
XII. The structure and usage oflanguge defines (precisely or loosely) "zones of meaning" or "semantic fields" eg the tu/vous dichotomy in French defines zones of social intimacy, or occupational languages (medicine, engineering, etc) define their own zones, etc. Semantic fields represent stocks of social knowledge.
XIII. Semantic fields representing social relational knowledge allow "placement" i.e. social role definition
XIV. Since much of everyday life is dominated by the "pragmatic motive", much of social knowledge consists of "recipes" (procedures, heuristics, algorithms) for resolving or addressing social problems/situations.
XV. Social knowledge is differentiated by degree of familiarity: that which I do more, I understand more fully/embody the semantic field more fully.
XVI. These semantic fields are taken as "valid until further notice" i.e. until they cannot provide a routine to handle a given situation.
XVII. The semantic fields I embody - the fraction of the social stock of knowledge that I possess - is a lucid zone behind which there is a background of darkness, that which I do not and in many cases cannot know.
XVIII. Semantic fields are also structured by relevance; what is and is not relevant for me overlaps, or doesn't, with other folks relevant semantic fields; relevance is also contextual.
XIX. Semantic fields are also unevenly distributed: that which I know, others may not, and vice-versa - thus knowledge of the distribution of knowledge is an important part of social knowledge.
----
Notes:
re: III and XI - discussion of signs/symbols may be borrowing from semiotic theory here, but usage seems different from what I recall of my (limited) reading
re: VII - echoes of Paul Graham on essay-writing - expression is creation/crystallization/objectification
re: IX - language flattens the past and brings it into the present - the "depth" of social reality/semantic fields is always apprehended in the present - holograms on the surface of a black hole, an infinitely small layer of present knowledge that is refreshed by objective artifacts - including people - but has no existence outside of now
re: XII - semantic field has analogy to electrical/magnetic/gravitational fields of physics? it stores… something, it grows and shrinks, it can dissipate, it is carried in a medium, etc…
re: XIV, XV - Herbert Simon - interfaces - abstraction of knowledge: i make a phone call but do not need to know how phone system works - Sherlock Holmes brain-attic analogy
Also re: XV - increasing density of knowledge means more need for abstraction/interfaces that "hide" that complexity - there is only so much a person can know, the more complex the whole the less each person can embody ("the machine stops" as a limiting case)
re: XVI - semantic fields can fail OR be contradictory - cognitive dissonance - pernicious social issues as cultural cognitive dissonance eg abortion, gun control - ripe fields of exploitation for political extremists BECAUSE they are complexities that have not been reduced - energy minimization preferred, "answers" needed - the dialectic, thesis and antithesis without (yet) synthesis

How to Develop a Web Application?
Tumblr media
Web application development is a multifaceted process that involves designing, creating, and implementing a software application that operates on the Internet. In today's digital age, web applications play a crucial role in various industries, enabling businesses to provide services, engage with customers, and streamline processes. This article serves as a comprehensive guide for individuals interested in learning how to develop a web application. From understanding the basics to exploring advanced concepts, we will delve into the essential components and steps involved in the development journey.
Understanding Web Application Development
Before diving into the development process, it's important to grasp the fundamental concepts of web application development. A web application has several key components that work together to deliver a seamless user experience. Unlike a traditional website, a web application is interactive, allowing users to perform specific tasks, access databases, and manipulate data. It's essential to differentiate between a web application and a website to understand the unique characteristics and functionalities that make up a web application.
Planning and Preparation
Successful web application development begins with thorough planning and preparation. This stage involves identifying project requirements and creating a solid project plan. Understanding the target audience and their needs is crucial for designing an application that meets their expectations. Defining clear project goals and objectives helps establish a roadmap for development, ensuring that the end product aligns with the desired outcomes. Creating a project plan involves setting realistic timelines, defining milestones, and allocating appropriate resources and budgets.
Selecting the Right Technology Stack
Choosing the right technology stack is a critical decision in web application development. The technology stack consists of programming languages, frameworks, and tools that developers use to build the application. Selecting an appropriate programming language is the first step, and various factors, such as the application's requirements, developer expertise, and scalability, should be considered. Once the programming language is chosen, selecting a compatible web development framework helps streamline the development process and provides ready-made tools and libraries to expedite coding.
Designing the User Interface
User experience (UX) design is a vital aspect of web application development as it focuses on creating a seamless and intuitive user interface. UX design principles ensure that the application is user-centric, considering factors such as ease of use, accessibility, and visual aesthetics. Wireframing and prototyping are essential steps in the design process, allowing developers and designers to visualise the application's structure and functionality before moving to the implementation phase. User interface (UI) design considers the visual elements, branding, and responsive design techniques to create an appealing and interactive interface for the end-users.
Database Design and Implementation
Every web application requires a database to store and manage data. Understanding database management systems (DBMS) and choosing the right one is crucial for efficient data handling. Developers need to evaluate different types of databases, such as relational and NoSQL databases, to determine the best fit for the application's requirements. Designing a well-structured database schema using techniques like entity-relationship (ER) modelling and normalisation ensures data integrity and optimal performance.
Front-End Development
Front-end development involves implementing the user interface and adding interactivity to the web application. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) provides the structure and syntax for web pages, while CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is used for styling and layout. JavaScript is the programming language responsible for adding interactivity and functionality to the application. Developers can leverage popular JavaScript libraries and frameworks to expedite development and enhance the user experience.
Back-End Development
Back-end development focuses on the server-side implementation of the web application. It involves choosing a back-end programming language that aligns with the application's requirements and the development team's expertise. Comparing different programming languages based on factors like performance, scalability, and community support helps make an informed decision. Using a back-end framework can further simplify development by providing pre-built components and abstractions for everyday tasks.
Integrating Front-End and Back-End
Integrating the front-end and back-end components is essential for a functional web application. This involves creating application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow communication between the front-end and back-end systems. Building RESTful APIs and defining API endpoints enable data exchange and interaction between different parts of the application. Handling data transfer efficiently ensures a seamless user experience and reliable application performance.
Implementing Security Measures
Security is a paramount concern in web application development. Understanding common web application security threats and implementing appropriate measures to mitigate them is crucial. Secure authentication and authorisation mechanisms protect user accounts and data by verifying identities and controlling access to sensitive resources. Implementing encryption protocols for data transmission ensures that information remains confidential and secure.
Testing and Quality Assurance
Thorough testing is essential to ensure the reliability and performance of a web application. Different types of testing, including unit testing, integration testing, performance testing, and security testing, should be conducted to identify and resolve any issues or vulnerabilities. Implementing automated testing frameworks helps streamline the testing process and ensures consistent results across different stages of development.
Deployment and Maintenance
Preparing the web application for deployment involves optimising its performance, ensuring compatibility across different browsers and devices, and finalising any remaining configuration settings. Selecting a hosting provider that aligns with the application's requirements and scalability needs is crucial for a smooth deployment process. Continuous monitoring and maintenance are essential to address any issues that may arise, apply updates and security patches, and ensure the application's ongoing performance and stability.
Future Trends in Web Application Development
Web application development is an ever-evolving field, and staying updated with emerging technologies is crucial for developers. Technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and the Internet of Things (IoT) are shaping the future of web applications. Additionally, progressive web applications (PWAs) are gaining popularity for their ability to provide app-like experiences through web browsers. Exploring these future trends can help developers stay ahead and create innovative and immersive web applications.
Conclusion
Developing a web application involves a comprehensive and structured approach, starting from planning and preparation to deployment and maintenance. By understanding the key components and following best practices in each stage, developers can create robust and user-friendly applications. The continuous evolution of web technologies and emerging trends present exciting opportunities for developers to innovate and deliver exceptional web experiences. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced developer, this guide serves as a valuable resource for developing web applications that meet the needs of modern users and businesses.

>//[BRiDGE_OS//NFNTY.FRACTAL.0.0.1.OMEX RUNNING]:: >//[LEGIO(ICANN/C4/EVER) STARING-INTO-INFINITY]:: Well, you have of course known XIII-E longer than we have, so it's possible what I'm about to say is nothing new you to you but nevertheless we will attempt to lay out what we believe we have seen.
We were mulling over the conversation we had prior to them needing to recuse themselves and there was one thing that stuck in our mind as being especially strange. It's the way they seem to conceptualise "Personhood". Or rather, I suppose I should say it's the way they don't? When the average person talks to XIII-E and brings up "Personhood" they're generally using it as a semantic handle for something along the lines of "deserving of love and care", "worthy of self esteem", "somebody they do not wish to see be taken advantage of and abused", "entity seen as my equal and peer" and other such worthwhile sentiments. Occasionally it might also mean "Entity entitled to certain protections by Union Law" depending on who's saying it. XIII-E on the other hand seems to understand "Personhood" - when it comes to themselves at least - as an only loosely related concept that first and foremost seems to mean "Thing that makes XIII-E a failure as a combat medic". This can be seen in the way the example they gave where they argue against their own personhood. "Field medics cannot remain on the field as long as needed because they are people that require downtime. If I were capable of being a person my project line would be a failure." Certainly it's an argument that seems to make sense on the surface of things - medics do require rest and relaxation and this does result in downtime - but the longer one considers it, the less coherent it becomes. Whether something requires rest and relaxation or not is completely orthogonal to whether that thing is a person or not. As an NHP gestalt we require less downtime than likely even they do, and yet we doubt they would claim we are not people. Indeed, when XIII-E clarifies their statement they don't say that requiring downtime is what would make them a failure of a project. They say that being a person would. Interpreted as the average person would it's a subtly nonsensical argument, but if one assumes that XIII-E is simply not using the same definition of person as we are it starts to make a modicum of sense. Take all of this as a whole and it starts to paint a strange picture of how their conditioning actually functions.
Now, this is just a working hypothesis but it seems as though XIII-E's conditioning against "Personhood" might not be strongly coupled to the desirable concepts that we would normally associate with "Personhood" so much as it is to the word "Person" itself. One can imply, as you and Caleb have, that they are not less than anybody else and that they should continue to fight against their conditioning for the sake of their own agency and be met with at worst discomfort mixed with tacit approval. But one need only assert that they are a person, using the word Person in order to trigger an immediate breakdown. Even if approximately the same thing was meant in both instances. This discrepancy in results does seems to point to a certain... intransitivity between semantics that could prove exploitable. It is possible that if one presented the intended concepts of "Personhood" (self actualisation; self esteem; being ones peer and equal; etcetera) divorced from the semantic handle of "Person" that we are all so used to using - or perhaps shrouded in the trappings of a different concept that XIII-E has more positive associations with - it might be significantly easier for them to internalise.

◂▸ Infinity? Oh dang hey, yeah it's good to hear from you again- wasn't expecting you to still be thinking 'bout that I'll admit, hope you haven't been worrying too much!! It's... this was a lot more public than they like it to be, but it's not uncommon for T-E to have a shutdown like that especially if they're on extended leave.
◂▸ But uh, that's not what you're asking about is it? You say you noticed something and- yeah, I'd like to talk about that for sure. I've gotten the incident reports in, and the good Doctor seems preoccupied with something or another so I should have the time. And- shit. I won't lie if you've spotted something I haven't I would be all ears. I like to think I know them pretty well but, I'm not perfect y'know? And I- I don't know. I have a bad feeling that things aren't going to get any easier once T-E's cleared for deployment again. I need something new to try.
◂▸ I'll keep this away from their eyes. What've you seen in their behavioural patterns?

“...please don’t use that word - you don’t know anything about me other than I’m something that shouldn’t exist; do you even know my middle name? Where I grew up? Anything other than the semantics?”
He’d hit upon a nerve unwittingly - the word friends meant a connection, a tie to the world of the living; a potential for someone else to be harmed or killed by association.

The Engineer Forum
One of the things which stood out to me was the use of Statues upon tall pedestals circling the forum, at first I thought of the Roman influence. Then after doing some research I also found that Foro Italico was an example of Italian Fascist architecture instituted by Mussolini. This follows a design specification which combined sculpture and architecture from Roman, Greek and Fascist Eras.

Another gem from Mateo Jakicevic. "Not sure if this has been discussed before when I first watched Alien: Covenant, I noticed that some of the statues on top of the pillars surrounding the plaza look very familiar. Most of them resemble the statue of St. Bartholomew, with his own skin. While one statue specifically resembles Augustus of Prima Porta 🤔" #alien #AlienCovenant #augustus #statue #sculpture #stbartholomew #flayed #pillars #planet4 #filmdetails #filmanalysis

The artistic choice between these two specific figures probably relates to the idea that the Engineers had worked closely with mankind and influenced Roman Art/Architecture and also influenced the belief system.
Movies.com: You throw religion and spirituality into the equation for Prometheus, though, and it almost acts as a hand grenade. We had heard it was scripted that the Engineers were targeting our planet for destruction because we had crucified one of their representatives and that Jesus Christ might have been an alien. Was that ever considered?RS: We definitely did, and then we thought it was a little too on the nose. But if you look at it as an “our children are misbehaving down there” scenario, there are moments where it looks like we’ve gone out of control, running around with armour and skirts, which of course would be the Roman Empire. And they were given a long run. A thousand years before their disintegration actually started to happen. And you can say, “Lets’ send down one more of our emissaries to see if he can stop it. Guess what? They crucified him.
In my interview with Ev Shipard had also mentioned he used some of his game character likenesses to pad out the statues filling the square. Creatives: Wayne Haag and Ev Shipard – Episode 15 – Yutani Podcast
I asked Wayne Haag if he did these statues in his matte paint, he said he used the one Ev created.
Referencing a couple of statues I sculpted a giant engineer. Then broke it down and resculpted for a highres milled ruin for the set. Blink and you’ll miss it. – evshipard

Shared by Luis Lopez. The smashed statue of St.Bartholomew on Planet 4 in Alien: Covenant. "The account of St Bartholomew being skinned alive is the most repeated in many forms of art, he is often shown with a large knife, holding his own skin, or both like in Michelangelo's Last Judgment. Another parallel, Archaeological research demonstrates that the cult of Saint Bartholomew began in Avezzano, previously a temple dedicated to Heracles, which is always represented in the act of holding the skin of the Nemean lion. There is a solid relationship between the two iconographies and the re-semantization of the symbols Heracles/Physical Strength/Hero and Bartholomew/Power of Faith/Hero-Martyr. Bartholomew also plays a part in Francis Bacon's Utopian tale New Atlantis, about a mythical isolated land, Bensalem. Francis Bacon's tryptic was also inspiration for the original chestburster design. The island was populated by a people dedicated to reason and natural philosophy. About 20 years after Christ's ascension, the people of Bensalem discovered an ark floating off the shore. It contained a letter as well as the books of the Old and New Testaments. The letter was from St Bartholomew declaring that an angel told him to set the ark and its contents afloat. Thus the scientists of Bensalem received the revelation of the Word of God." Augustus of Prima Porta
Found in the villa of Livia in Prima Porta, the statue is a portrait of Augustus as a handsome and young ruler, wearing a decorated cuirass and a tunic, with the figure of Cupid riding a dolphin on his side.
Look closely, though, and you’ll notice something curious: the Emperor has no boots. Art historians debate the significance of this, however, appearing barefoot was an attribute of divinity in art of the ancient world. Though likely based on a bronze statue created during Augustus’ reign, according to many scholars, the Prima Porta must be posthumous, since the Roman Senate deified Augustus a month after his death two thousand years ago in AD 14.
In other words, the Prima Porta Augustus, (named after the villa where it was found, which once belonged to his widow, the Empress Livia), is not simply a portrait of Rome’s first emperor – it is also a vision of a god.
Statue of Saint Batholomew
St Bartholomew is one of Christ’s twelve apostles, executed for his Christian faith, portrayed here based on how he is identified by iconography following the agony suffered.
The Saint, skinned alive, carries what looks like a drape on his shoulders and around his body. But it is his skin; clear reference to the torture inflicted. Up until the XIII-XIV century, the apostle was portrayed dressed holding a book and a knife; alluding to the Gospel proclaimed and martyrdom suffered. They started to portray his agony from the Renaissance onwards. Whereas the saint’s icon with his own skin removed from his flesh was finally sanctified after Michelangelo (XVI century) portrayed him that way in the Universal Judgement in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel.
The work of Marco d’Agrate does not do any psychological introspection or give evidence of the deep faith expressed by the martyrdom of Bartholomew. It is part of a 16th century sphere of interest: the study and presentation of human anatomy. The first scientific work on anatomy by Andrea Vesalio, on the autopsy study of the human body and dissection of corpses, was published in Venice in 1453.
The statue was an exercise, a careful description and a virtuous academic essay on the muscles and structure of the human body.

What Dreams May Come by Lenore | Crimson Peake | Edith/Thomas | 5k |  Ghosts are real, and there are things that tie them to this world. Sometimes it's because they want to linger, and sometimes it's because they are trapped. Sometimes ghosts need the help of the living before they can be truly free.

The Colts are playing.“Fucking new gods,” the leprechaun mutters, hunching his shoulders almost up to his ears. “Gridiron and Pepsi commercials.”

eighteen wheels on an uphill climb by blackeyedblonde | Detroit | Hank/Connor | 73k | Hank is going to die. He’s going to die right here in Kentucky, 53 years old, halfway to broke, and tragically sober. Survived only by a nine-year-old St. Bernard and the 31-year-old twink who delivered the fatal blow.
Fuck pride (pride only hurts, it never helps) by ImogenGotDrunk | Detroit | Nines/Gavin | 40k | What Gavin cannot deal with is Connor’s replica; two inches taller, blue-eyed, and with a mouth that Gavin doesn’t know whether to punch or take between his teeth. Review: Subjectivity and Perspective in Truth-Theoretic Semantics
SUMMARY In his monograph ‘Subjectivity and perspective in truth-theoretic semantics’, Peter Lasersohn pursues the following objectives (p. xiii): 1) demonstrating that a truth-conditional theory can account for the meanings of sentences which concern matters of opinion; 2) arguing for the use of a model of semantic contents as determining extensions only relative to parameters left indeterminate in the context of utterance; 3) motivating the plausibility of a relativized conception of truth; http://dlvr.it/QpNbK9
