You lean over the counter, your cheek resting on your palm as you giggle at something Baekhyun had just said to you.
"You're so gross. He's supposed to be here for me." Rose scoffs as she smacks her gum, continuing to text on her phone.
"Oh my god, no." You laugh at Baekhyun before glaring at your cousin, scrunching up your face before hiding behind your hands. Your phone rings, you take it out and look at the caller ID, seeing grandpa flash across the screen you know he's there to pick up Rose.
"Grandpa is here for you." You tell her, seeing his car pull up out back. As she gets up to leave, you turn away from Baekhyun when you hear the bell from the front door ring, along with mumbling deep voices.
"Um.." Baekhyun says, making you turn around. You see a group of three men walking into the diner and Baekhyun's body stiffening up.
"It's a group of old men, Baek. Stop." You laugh, grabbing menus before heading over there.
"Hi guys." You smile, laying out the menus. "Can I get you guys something to drink to start?" You ask, slipping your notebook from your pocket.
"Well aren't you a pretty little thing. Hey Jon? Dontcha think she's pretty." One man says, looking you up and down.
"Absolutely." Another one murmurs. "She would make a nice fit with the others, hey Al?" He chuckles. "It's too bad she's not who we're here for."
Your hand begins to sweat and shake as you try to remain cool. You felt uneasy but your grandpa always told you how to handle these men, should you ever encounter them. He always told you to not worry about it because the diner was a safe place, but on the off chance something happened, he was only a phone call away.
"We heard Rose was going to be working today?" One man says with a smile. "I hear she gives great service. Could you get her?" He asks, his smile forced.
"She's not here but I'll get you some waters." You mumble, quickly walking behind the counter. You notice the spot that Baekhyun had been sitting was now empty. You gather up the waters and head back to the table, placing one down in front of each man.
"Do you guys know what you want to order or did you need more time?" You ask, your voice shaky.
"Oh I know what i want." Al says, standing up. "Rose."
"She's not here, I believe i said." You say, waving him off.
"I don't believe you." He laughs. All three men stand up.
"You guys can get the fuck out before I call the cops." You spit, placing your hand on your waist.
The men laugh as they stand up, one of them winking at you as they walk out the door.
"I'll be seeing you." He says, walking through the door, letting it slowly close behind him.
"Not likely!" You yell.
What a piece of shit.
You felt like you could finally breathe as you watched them climb into a car, turning your back before you even see them leave.
You walk into the kitchen where the cook was cleaning the grill, the music blaring from his headphones. You tell him about your encounter and just ask him to keep an eye out.
You go back up front and you see Baekhyun walking around the front of the diner as you gather up some garbage, watching him turn the corner. You never understood why he stayed here after Rose left, since she realistically should be the only reason he was here.
You take the garbage out the back and through the door to the dumpster. As you see Baekhyun looking inside your car you notice a man with a gun sneaking up behind him, the gun pointed directly at his head.
"Duck!" You scream.
Baekhyun drops to the ground as the man fires his gun, the bullet going straight through the window of your car.
He pulls out his gun, swiftly turning around to shoot the man before getting up and running to you. He grabs your wrist, dragging you to his car, opening the passenger door and pushing you in before he hops in the driver's seat, starting the car, putting it in drive, as he screeches out of the parking lot.
"Shit they had people waiting." Baekhyun spits, pressing down on the gas as two cars follow behind you. "I fucking knew it. I thought they would have moved on since she wasn't here." He mumbles.
"Yeah cause sex traffickers move on that easily once they have a target." You sigh, rolling your eyes. "They're not dumb, Baek. They know you're there to protect her."
"Here take this." He says ignoring what you said and handing you a gun. "Just keep shooting out the window. Try to aim for the tires." Baekhyun yells as he jerks the steering wheel to the left, the car behind you still trailing you too close for your liking.
As you take off the safety, your mind wanders back into how you got into this position, meeting Baekhyun.
**
"Ayn, this is Byun Baekhyun of EXO. He's here to watch after Rose while she's at work." Your grandpa, Chairman Yang tells you.
"Watch Rose? Why? Because she does such a terrible job?" You laugh. Your laugh quickly fades away as you see the seriousness on everyone's face and that's when you knew it wasn't something to be joking about. "What's going on?" You ask.
"She's been marked. Her car for the last few days have had the markings for trafficking." Baekhyun tells you. "This is how they do it, stake her out for a few weeks before they try to make their move."
"So you're there.." you pause before he cuts in.
"To protect her." He finishes.
"Don't worry Ayn. Nothing will happen." Your grandpa smiles, trying to ease your mind.
You weren't worried. You knew everything would be fine.
"Don't they know who she is? Why pick her?" You wonder. Your family was powerful, so why risk it?
"More powerful the family, more money for the girl. Some guys are just willing to take the risk." Baekhyun says.
"I've got to go to a meeting. All will be fine, Ayn." Your grandpa finishes, placing a kiss on your forehead before walking away, leaving you with the man you soon would fall for.
**
The first day Baekhyun showed up you laughed. He sat on a stool at the counter and looked around the building trying to locate Rose.
"Seriously?" You smile, looking at him with a blank stare. "First day and you already can't find her?"
"I know exactly where she is." He scoffs. "Back there." He says, pointing to the kitchen.
"Actually no. She didn't come in today. She had me take her shift today." You say, smiling wildy.
Baekhyun laughs as he shakes his head, lowering it in embarrassment.
"It's okay if you're not very smart, you're still hot." You smile.
"You think I'm hot?" He asks.
"Don't get all soft now, mafia man. You have a job to do." You say, walking away to serve the new group of people who just walked in.
Baekhyun knew then things would never be boring as long as you were around.
**
"I did it!" You exclaim excitedly as you watch the car behind you lose control and crash into a pole.
"Good job." Baekhyun laughs. "One more to go." He murmurs, jerking the car one more time and speeding up. "Hold on tight." He spits, grabbing the wheel tightly, stepping on the brake and turning the wheel hard, completely turning the car around.
You both speed past the car that had been trailing behind you, and laugh as you watch them through the mirrors, they slam on their brakes and try to turn to catch the two of you. By the time they had turned around, Baekhyun had already pulled into one of many side roads, turning off the car.
Sitting there in silence, you squeeze your legs together, your clit throbbing.
"Are you okay?" Baekhyun asks, worriedly.
"Adrenaline makes me horny." You breathe. You move your panties to the side, slowly slipping your fingers into your pussy, only letting out a soft moan.
"Are you..?" He begins to ask, but is cut off by you getting onto your knees, pulling your fingers from your pussy and leaning over to him. You lift up his shirt, running your fingers through his treasure trail, licking your lips before whispering "nice."
You unbutton his pants and he lifts himself up, making it easier for you to pull them down.
You lick your lips at the sight of his cock, hard, leaking pre cum.
You place your mouth over the tip wrapping your lips around it, swallowing his cock.
Baekhyun moans as you gag yourself on his cock. His head falls back against the seat, his mouth hanging open as he thrusts up, shoving his cock further back down your throat.
You bring yourself up, sitting up, you wipe your mouth, looking him in the eyes. "Im clean. Are you?" You ask.
"Yes." He whispers as he watches you pull your panties down and throw them in the backseat. He leans his seat back, pulling your arm to help you climb onto him, hiking your skirt up in the process. He holds his cock as you slowly begin to sink down on him, his cock stretching you out an unimaginable amount.
"Shit." He cries. "You're so fucking wet. You're drenched." He moans.
You place your hands on his shoulders, you're rolling your hips, curling yourself into him.
"Oh my god." You moan in his ear, leaning forward.
You move your fingers down, putting them in between the two of you and in between your lips, rubbing your clit. You nuzzle your nose into his neck, the scent of his cologne filling your nostrils.
"Dont stop." You cry, rolling your hips in just the right way. Your clit becomes sensitive as your orgasm quickly approaches.
You lift yourself up from against him, your head flying back as you cum all over his cock. You move your hand from between your legs, lowering your head to look Baekhyun in the eyes, you place your fingers in your mouth, sucking the juices from them.
Baekhyun moans as his hands leave your hips, moving up to begin undoing the buttons of your top, exposing your bra. He pulls a cup down, letting a breast spring free. He moans as he cups it, leaning his head forward to take it in his mouth.
Shivers run down your spine as he continues to suck while you ride him, his cock hitting the right spot every time.
You move your fingers down, putting them in between the two of you and in between your lips, rubbing your clit. You nuzzle your nose into his neck, the scent of his cologne filling your nostrils.
Baekhyun lets go of your nipple with a pop, but before he's able to say anything else, a pair of headlights are set on your car and a gunshot rings through the air.
"Shit." He spits, turning the car on. You try to get off of him but his one hand keeps you there in place. "I don't think so, baby." He smiles, putting the car in drive and flooring it. "Grab the gun." He spits.
You reach over to the empty passenger seat, grabbing the gun you had left there. "Aim it out my window. Try to hit wherever you can." He yells, jerking the car around another corner. You wrap your arm around his neck as he looks over your shoulder, watching the road. You stick your arm out the window and pull the trigger, doing your best to keep your aim at the car. You were having a little trouble concentrating with Baekhyun subtly thrusting inside you as he drove.
As you aim the gun out of his window, a moan slips out of your mouth, whispering the sound into his ear.
"Fuck baby, you can't do that." He groans, grunting as he bucks his hips up, pushing himself deeper inside of you.
"And you can't do that, if you want me to shoot." You gasp, clutching the gun tightly.
Managing to get a little bit of your concentration back, you squeeze your pussy around his cock as you aim and fire.
"Oh my god." Baekhyun gasps, biting his bottom lip before thrusting his hips up, pounding himself into you.
"Fuck." You cry out, bringing your free hand up to cup your breast, squeezing it tightly. Your eyes roll into the back of your head as you ride Baekhyun, forgetting that you would be distracting him from trying to get the two of you to safety.
"Take another shot." Baekhyun groans, trying to concentrate, both hands on the wheel but his eyes on your bouncing tits.
You stick your arm out the window again, firing another shot, this time hitting a wheel, making the car begin to swerve before inevitably crashing into a tree. Baekhyun laughs as he slams on the breaks, shifting the car into park before his hands end up on your thighs, pushing down while he thrusted up hard.
"So fucking sexy." He grunts. You use your knees against the seat, bouncing on his cock, your tits in his face.
"Fuck I'm gonna cum." You cry, your hand grabs a clump of hair as your orgasm hits you, halting all your movements, causing you to shake. "Shit." You moan as Baekhyun thrusts himself into you more, chasing his own high.
"Im gonna.. cum." He stampers, his fingertips digging into your thighs as he shoots his load into your pussy, coating your walls with his cum. "Fuck." He huffs.
You smile as you both catch your breath before you get off of him and sit yourself in his passenger seat, feeling his cum drip from inside your pussy. "You can just drop me off at home if you want." You breathe, running your hands through your hair.
"I need to talk to your grandpa so yeah, let's go." Baekhyun says, turning shifting the car into drive and heading for your house.
**
"Yes sir." Baekhyun says as your grandpa gives him new instructions.
"You're to be there all day everyday. If EXO wants us on their side, you better be keeping us granddaughter safe." He says, not looking up from his desk.
"Yes sir. Of course sir." Baekhyun finishes, nodding his head.
"You may go. Ayn?" Your grandpa says.
"Yeah?" You say, turning around to face him.
"Maybe you should take some time off from the diner. Just until everything blows over." He suggests.
You laugh as you walk over behind him, wrapping your arms around his neck. "I appreciate the concern, but they're not after me. Besides, you know i can handle myself." You say, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"I know you're tough." He chuckles. "Doesn't mean I can't worry about you."
"I'll see you later." You smile, walking out of his office.
**
A few days later you were back at work, missing Baekhyun. He had gotten a phone call from Rose saying she had an appointment and he was the one who needed to take her and watch her there. You could almost guarantee that she did not have an appointment, she just didn't want to come to work like usual.
You're brought out of your thoughts when the bell on top of the door rings and you heat the sound of footsteps walking into the diner. You turn around and see one of the men from before standing there, but this time he's alone.
"Table for one?" He asks.
"Sit where you want. I'll be right with you." You say, turning around to grab a menu. You take a deep breath, planning out what you were going to yell at him. You walk up to him, dropping his menu on the table as he looks up at you.
"Before you say anything.." he pauses. "I want to apologize for my friends and I the other day." He smiles. "They're into some weird business, we were drinking that day and things just got out of hand." He sighs. "A friend had told us about Rose and we pushed too far, we didn't mean any harm,  i'm sorry." He finishes.
"If you weren't here to do any harm, then what about the guy who was shot?" You ask, trying to unravel his apology.
"What guy? Someone was shot?" He asked, looking worried.
"Nevermind.' You whisper. You weren't sure if you believed him but it's not like you would see him  often, so you let it go. But that wasn't true. You saw home almost everyday after that, and everyday you became increasingly more and more comfortable around Al.
**
"Hey Al." You smile widely as he walks into the diner for the fifth time this week.
"Hello dear." He laughs, sitting down at his usual table. Already you were behind the counter grabbing his water and his coffee to bring to him.
"BLT or eggs today?" You smile, not even bringing him a menu considering he only ever ordered one of two things.
"I think the BLT sounds good today, Ayn." He says, sipping on his coffee. "How's your cousin?" He asks.
You had told him that she was a terrible coworker and he always liked to tease you about it. "Shitty, as usual." You smile. "I'll go put your order in quick."
As the night went on and Al finished his food, he liked to stay and have a few cups of coffee after, reading the paper and just enjoying the sound. Yoh remembers how he told you his family was all gone, his wife passed away years ago, and his children were all grown up and left the house. He missed the noise, being surrounded by people. Or that's what he told you.
"See ya, Ayn." He says, waving as he walks out the door a few hours later. You head over to his table to clean up his cups and underneath one of them was a $100 bill. He always managed to make you smile with his tips.
**
A few weeks later, Al was still coming in and Baekhyun didn't like it. "There's something off about him." He says, sipping his coffee, eyeing up the man who you had become close to.
"He's lonely. Leave him alone." You laugh, smacking Baekhyun on the arm.
"How was your day today, Ayn?" Al asks as you refill his coffee. "The same as yesterday and the day before and the day before." You laugh. "Work work work, go home and sleep and more work."
"You work far too much. You closing up again tonight?" He asks.
"Not tonight, I'm off early tonight but the rest of the week I'll be closing." You tell him.
"You make sure to be careful. There are some weirdos out there." He warns.
You thank him and turn around, missing the small smirk that appears on his lips before disappearing quickly.
At 7pm, you happily took off your apron, throwing it in the laundry basket in the back before saying goodbye and getting into your car.
Once you were home you took a quick shower, not bothering to use a towel to dry yourself off, you prefer to air dry.
You walk to your dresser grabbing your lotion off the top shelf as your door opens and in walks Baekhyun with his eyes closed.
"Look." He says. "We need to talk." He finishes opening his eyes, trailing your body up and down. "I.. we.. um." He stutters.
"Im listening." You say, rubbing lotion over your stomach before moving up to your breasts.
Baekhyun lets out a deep breath before moving to your desk chair, he sits down, biting his bottom lip. "Well.." he pauses.
"What do you want to say to me?" You ask, standing in front of him.
"I don't remember." He says, looking up at you. You smile as you crawl into his lap, straddling him. You wrap your arms around his neck, your breasts pushed into his face. You lift yourself up before rolling your hips against his clothed cock. You feel him grow beneath you as you continue to grind yourself on him.
"What do you want?" Baekhyun asks, his voice low.
"Do whatever you want to me." You breathe.
"Whatever I want?" He smirks.
You nod your head, biting your lip to hide your smile. Baekhyjn stands up holding your back as you wrap your legs around his waist. His hands move to your ribs, holding pulling you off and throwing you on the bed.
"Ropes?" He asks.
"Handcuffs." You reply, pointing to your closet. Baekhyun gets off the bed, moving to your closet. He reaches up to grab the pair of handcuffs, twirling them around his finger as he walks back to your naked body laying on the bed. He crawls on, smiling as you hold out your wrists for him. Happily he locks the handcuffs in place and pushes your arms to lay flat over your head.
"Hold onto the headboard and do not let go." He says with a growl.
"Yes sir." You purr.
Baekhyun moves down your body, forcing your legs open, spreading them as far as he can make them go. Your pussy is already dripping at the thought of him between your thighs.
He lays down on his stomach, spreading your lips before flicking your clit with the tip of his tongue. Your back arches for a moment, until he pushes you back down, keeping his hand there to not let you do that again.
"Oh my god." You cry out, his lips wrapping around you clit, sucking harshly.
He releases your clit, sliding two fingers into his mouth before slowly entering them inside you. He slowly pumps his finger in and out of you, bringing his other thumb to your clit and gently rubbing, making you arch your back again.
"Fuck fuck fuck." You cry out, the overwhelming sensation continuing to grow as he works his magic fingers.
"You're going to make me.. cum." You scream out, your hands holding on tightly to the headboard as your orgasm washes through your body, Baekhyun's fingers still continuing to work on you.
"Please. Please no more." You cry out, your body trying to twist away from him.
"Shh baby, you told me I could do whatever I wanted. So stop moving and let me make you cum again." He snaps, his eyes dark. You bite your bottom lip, your body tries to relax but fuck you're sensitive.
"I can't." You cry.
"You can and you will. Cum again, baby." He says, his fingers thrusting in and out of you quickly while his thumb rubs your clit.
"Fuck." You cry out, another orgasm washing over you, your clit throbbing from being so sensitive now.
Baekhyun removes his hands from you, standing up and pointing to the floor. "On your knees." He states, pointing to the hardwood floor beneath him. You crawl off the bed, your hands still in the cuffs. Your sink down onto your knees, in front of Baekhyun. He begins unzipping his pants, letting his cock spring free. You notice the precum dripping from his red tip.
"Suck." He demands.
You take a breath before leaning forward, licking the tip of his cock, swallowing the cum before taking more of him in your mouth.
Baekhyun's hands reach around and grab the back of your head, pulling a clump of hair to keep your head still before he slowly thrusts his hips back and forth, gently hitting the back of your throat.
As the seconds went on his thrusts became harder and faster. His grip on your hair tightened as he slammed his cock into your mouth, sliding it down your throat to make you gag. Tears brimmed your eyes as you choked on his cock.
"Such a good slut." He moans, pulling his cock from your mouth, letting you breathe.
"On the bed. All fours." He spits, discarding his shirt somewhere in your room.
You climb on the bed, mascara burning your eyes as it runs down your face. You put your face in your bed, pressing it into your sheets while sticking your ass in the air and wait for Baekhyun.
You feel the bed dip behind you before a hard slap lands on your ass, making it burning.
"Good girl." He purrs, grabbing your ass roughly before slapping it one more time.
Baekhyun lines his cock up with your hole, pushing himself inside you a little bit before he grips onto your hips and slams himself inside you.
"Holy fuck." You cry out but it's muffled. Your fingers hold tightly onto the bed sheets as your face is buried into the bed.
"Such a nice pussy." He groans, this thrusts slowly but hard, hitting your G spot everytime.
Seconds later he picks up his pace and begins pounding himself into you, his breathing heavy as his fingertips dig into your hips.
"Clench." He grunts.
You clench your pussy around him, making him cry out loudly.
"Fuck, just like that." He groans, his thrusts becoming erratic. "Im gonna cum." He yells, his grip becoming even tighter before he stops moving. He's hunched over you, as he spills himself into you, coating your walls with his cum.
"Shit." He breathes, giving small thrusts as he milks himself for everything.
He pulls himself out of you, letting cum fall from your pussy, as he walks to the bathroom to grab you a cloth.
He comes back with a smile on his face handing you the cloth before unlocking your hands, tossing the handcuffs onto your bed.
After cleaning up, he crawls in beside you, pulling you in close to him, sleep coming easily to you both.
Late in the morning, Baekhyun gives you a kiss on the lips as he quietly leaves your room, heading home to shower before going to the diner for his shift with Rose. "I'll see you later." You smile, knowing you'll be there in the next few hours for your long shift.
**
Over the next few nights of your closing shifts, Baekhyun had to leave early for the first two and had planned on staying for the third one. It was around 10pm when Rose had left to head home and it didn't take long for Baekhyun's phone to ring after that.
"You just left Rose." Baekhyun sighs as he answers the phone on speaker.
"I think someone's following me." She whispers. 'I've been taking a bunch of random turns and the car follows me the whole time." She says. You can hear the panic in her voice as you hear whimpers through the phone.
"Where are you? I'm on my way." Baekhyun says, taking off from the diner. Your stomach was in knots thinking about what could happen to Rose. You just hoped Baekhyun got to her in time. As you watch his car screech out of the parking lot, the front door opens. You see Al walking in, a smile on his face.
"Hey stranger." You grin, grabbing a cup for coffee.
"None tonight." He says. He looks uneasy and uncomfortable. "I'm really sorry Ayn. It's not my decision." He says. Before you're able to ask him what he meant, you hear the sound of a bullet hitting something or someone in the kitchen and then a body hitting the floor.
You look at Al with terror in your eyes as he shrugs his shoulders before you're hit over the head with something, making you fall into the darkness.
**
Baekhyun got to Rose as fast as he could. She had pulled into a well lit gas station that had many people around while she waited for him to show up.
"They're gone?" She says, looking around as Baekhyun walks up to her window. "It's like they saw you and took off." She says shrugging her shoulders.
His mind immediately went to you. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong. He pulled out his phone, dialing your number but you didn't answer. His hand starts to shake as he presses redial before running back to his car. He speeds out of the gas station and heads back to the diner.
You still didn't answer.
Baekhyun dials Chairman Yang, who picks up on the second ring. "What is it?" He asks.
"It's Ayn. Meet me at the diner." Baekhyun says before hanging up the phone. His foot presses on the gas, jolting his car to go faster.
He finally reaches the diner, barely putting the car in park before he flies out of the driver's seat, running inside. He calls out your name but you don't answer. His eyes look to the floor where he sees a large spot of blood.
"Ayn!" He calls again, no answer.
Chairman Yang runs through the door, looking at the blood then back at Baekhyun.
"It was never Rose." He breathes. "They never wanted her. It was always Ayn." He finishes, feeling like he's failed you.

_________________________________________
"Lil Sissy, I'm done at the hospital and I’m coming over to your form to kidnap you for the day, so get ready."
"How did the appointment go?"
"We'll chat later about this, but right now I need you to come with me to meet your Minseok and the EXO gang."
"The one at the hotel... with EXO... oh gosh, this is worth the matron killing me over this."
There was a shrill scream of excitement and a little hyperventilation, heard over the hands-free call ringing through the car.
"Are we really going to their fan-meeting? I was really bummed when I knew I would not be able..."
"Will you shut your ramblings and wipe your face, because I know, losing your shit means there will tears involved." And indeed, she heard muffled sniffles.
Her own voice was strained, and she knew her sister could pick it up but chose to say nothing, for her sake. She was exhausted, but she had little time to worry about her fatigue or waste the opportunity to spend a little bit of time with her sister.
'Okay! No nose bleeding, no puking and definitely stay awake for the next three hours, maximum.'
She pleaded with her body to honour her wishes and comply.
She drove to the street of her boarding school gates.
"Little Dumbo, hurry and get, we're going to be late for your date with eight men!" She honked long and insistently.
Her sister looked like she just skipped her study session, as she jumped over the wall even the gates were shut tight. She rushed to clamber in the car, with the already open for her.
She yanked her forward, from her seat to deliver a near bone crushing hug.
"Ugh, let go! I'm not as strong as I was. You know that." She playfully scolded.
Her sister let go, her expression had made a 360-degree turn. Quietly, she took in her slimmer frame, the sunken flesh around her eyes that were tastefully covered by make-up. Her severely styled pixie cut, peered through her hat.
"I see that."
She aimed a bright smile, when she navigated the car onto the road through turns and stops.
"Now tell me, which members you're excited to see most, especially for this era?"
"You know, that I love them like they are my older brothers, in equal measure. However, when one of them release something new, then at that time he will be my favourite."
"So, no bias or bias wrecker... I see." She teased.
"Well, we both know who your bias is."
"Wha- What, are you on about?" She spluttered, "You actually, took that model answer from me, because I was going to say that before you went ahead."
"You lie." Was all she offered.
Between them, the younger girl was a Day One EXO-L. No one could take that from her, or could stand between her and her EXO brothers. There was some truth in her earlier answer, although she gravitated towards the maknae line of Sehun, Kai and D.O. Her sister was heartbroken when she heard that Lay would not be promoting with the rest of the group from the moment, he signed the Chinese deal.
From her side, she has always offered that, should she be in a dire situation, and forced to choose? She will take the eldest because he was the only one with a younger sister, and they shared birth months of March. Although hers was two weeks earlier. His personality, was what attracted her to the entire group, to start with. She did understand, that he was a performer, so he might be a different person, in person.
She had got them there in time, to find a seat in the middle of the room, on the right-hand side of the middle aisle. Her little sister, was the only one in her school uniform, but looked to have little care. She noticed that some of the members ahead had noticed the dress code when Chanyeol's eye spotted them and leaned to D.O's ear and point in their direction. The short man smiled in their direction with a scolding shake of his head.
She heard a flustered giggle next to her, as the teenager buried her head to her lap, to hide. She shrugged her shoulders up with open hands so say 'Don't ask me, I'm just an enabler'. That sent the two men, Sehun and Baekhyun to silent fits of laughter as SuHo and Jongdae spoke. They sobered at SuHo's glare. Kai looked adorably confused, while he moved to stand between D.O and Chanyeol.
She noticed Minseok's eyes were fixed on her with an unreadable expression. She braved a smile and a small bow of a nod in his direction. That seemed to fluster the man, and have him shyly look away.
Some fans looked between him and trying to find the person who he had been looking at.
Did she mention how she liked Minseok's fierce protection of his privacy. She liked how people liked knew of him, but nothing about him. Unless he wanted you to know. He was the very few idols who knew how the effortlessly full off that trick on their audiences. It was similar to Jongdae and his lyricism.
They were the only ones without plaques, souvenirs or anything else to show their love and support for the group. Her sister only had one of the member's key rings, she bought online along with a whole heap of their merchandise.
She was about to reach into her bag to retrieve the latest light stick, she bought for her sister, when the younger placed a light hand over her reaching arm.
"I brought this along for you to..."
"No, Sissy, you don't have to carry the light stick, there are enough fans with their own, to avoid giving the boys a black ocean."
She stated like it was the most oblivious thing to point out, and saved her from a gracious faux par.
The room was unlike the massive stadiums EXO was known to fill up. They were in a hotel conference room with enough lighting, but she understood her sister's words.
She settled back into her seat to cradle her sister head to her chest. Her chest complaining under the weight of her head, but she ignored it, by pulling her even closer with her hand over her cheek.
There was an announcement that they were ready for the fans to line up and begin the signing and little interaction they would have with the fans as they shuffled along.
Her little sister must have understood her love for the album and every song on there, because she too loved it but had left it for her. She cooked and danced around the kitchen to ‘Ko Ko Bop’ and ‘Touch It’, while ‘The Eve’ pushed her through her chemo or the effects of the treatment.
"Uhm, I also brought along their album, you left at home when you moved out."
"You mean the latest one?"
"Mmm-Hmm, 'The War' album."
Her sister surprised her when she lasted expected any difference or growth in her. Before, she would have screamed out her excitement without a care who frowned or looked in the direction of her hysteria. Now she sighed and aimed a smile of contentment up to her.
"Now you'll listen to a signed album, by eight out of nine members. I can't even say, I'm jealous of you."
"Hey, it's your album, I'm just using it for now."
"And I wouldn't have it any other way. Besides I'll have their next repackaged master piece."
"Sissy, why are growing up so fast?"
"You'd rather I remained petulant and demand that you leave my stuff alone, when I'm not around?"
"Lately, a little." Her voice shook, betraying her.
"We grow up, Sis' and brave for the unknown of the future's offer." She moved her hand to stroke at the back of her neck and where her hair was shortest, under the low bucket hat, "We don't have forever, so I must enjoy the present and in order for me to do just that, I need to grow up and mature."
She heard every word her sibling had not said, she felt the emotions behind the thick gulps for air and trembling fingers on her head. She now felt okay, about the reality her appointment had pressed on her time frame.
"’Forever’... I listen to that song during those long baths."
Particularly after hours of heaving over the toilet bowl.
"I know. And don't worry about how they look at you. My EXO boys are nothing but loving, understanding and welcoming to their baby EXO-Ls."
"But I'm not part of the fandom, or any fandom for that matter." She self-consciously pulled at crop of hair.
She was happier to make a public appearance with her brows and lashes grown back in volume.
She stood, with a huff, wearily eyeing the growing line of eager fans and their restlessness, inflicting more pain and fatigue to her bones.
"Oh, Sissy, we need to talk after this..." she remembered.
"I know. Otherwise, you would not have kidnapped me for no valid reason when you're such a stickler for rules." She covered her anxiety with a roll of her eyes.
The elder shrugged off the last remark, smiling down at the sass in her sister’s cross-legged posture, with her foot dancing in the air.
"You, go get them. I'll wait here. I'll always wait for you Sis'." She brought a fist, "Fighting!"
She shook her head in fondness at the sixteen-year-old. She on the other hand, wore her 'No nonsense' face, showing that she would not take too kindly to being pushed or bumped around in the line.
The line was slow, but she could tell that everyone ahead, was trying to get things moving as fast as possible. The members looked to be oblivious to the time or the urgency the managers and staff impressed to them with bent heads to their ears. On intervals she looked back to her sister, who looked straight to her, although she changed positions from time to time. Now she had her head titled to rest on her hand, as her arm rested on the chair's backrest she had vacated. She thought the younger girl would have taken advantage of the free and unlimited Wi-Fi or insisted that she be the one to be in line to personally meet the members.
She watched as her sister's face grow red, and look away, huffing out a breath, then fervently fanning it to hide her face behind her hand. Her fingers squeezed at her eyes and the bridge of her nose. She did not look back to her, until she was forced to tear her gaze away to the moving line.
She had passed through every member, with their photocard at the ready, for them to sign as they had warmly greeted her. Some had asked about her day so far, but she smiled and replied with 'it's alright, I guess.' The members would hold their smiles and nod, while they signed her possessions. One of them, Baekhyun with his red hair, had offered a high five and an encouraging smile that he would like her to reciprocate.
She politely complied to the man's infectious enthusiasm and he only let go of her hand once satisfied. She ignored the impatient murmurs by the fans behind her or those that found her interaction with the idol cute or unsavoury.
She had finally reached Xiumin, at the end of the line. She secretly preferred referring to all of them by their real names. Remembering the names, directly putting each one to all nine faces, was something she was proud of. And much prouder to know that the only one missing, had not in fact left the group, but would from then on promote most of his work in China.
"Hello, how are you?"
The kind voice, spanned out of her wandering thoughts. Minseok had quietly, bade goodbye to an emotional fan, as she had waited her turn. Her mind had blanked out at her purpose for being there and why the idol looked, expectantly, up at her.
"Would you like something to be signed?"
She had been bracing her weight against the table, unaware of the line she was backlighting or the murmur and mutters by the members asking each what was wrong with Minseok. The manager had moved to tap at her hand, when she startled back to reality.
"So... so sorry." She nearly dropped all her contents, even those that had been signed already.
"No, no no. Don't be." The man raised his hand to keep the impatient manager at bay along with the rest of the staff.
Flustered, she gathered her stuff and frantically looked around for Minseok's photocard.
"Hey, wait. You have already handed me your card."
That stalled her panic. She must have handed it over without realising or he had gathered it when it slipped and fell onto the table.
"I noticed from where you started with Sehun, it was only our photocards, you're having us sign."
"I'm, yeah. It's what I have with me right now."
"To think, Min, when I saw earlier that she was the only one without any of our merchandise. I figured we were visited by an anti-fan to keep up with our shenanigans." The man next to Minseok, cheerfully offered, as he was free and done with the fan in front of him. The said fan, was waiting for her to finish and move along.
"No, I'm here with my sister, and I offered to join the line for her. An over protective sister, afraid she would get crush by the spilling crowd in line."
She read Minseok’s look, over her frame, ‘You’re the one who could just about be crushed by the crowd, than your sister.’
"Then I am glad, you made this far, so I was able to meet you." Looking deep into his eyes, she saw the sincerity and honesty of his words. For some reason, she felt like she was speaking the Minseok that made up Xiumin. The manager tapped his shoulder and levelled a stern look at her, for them to cut their conversation short.
The other blond man, she knew to be Jongdae, only waved between the fans at the direction she had pointed to, and her sister returned the wave with two arms over her head flailing in jubilation.
That elicited chuckles all around, those at earshot who had heard the interaction.
She knew the effort put behind the enthusiastic act.
"That's great. I'm an older brother to my sibling too."
"Wow, Min, you never share that." Jongdae had murmured in a hush tone, that she had barely caught and knew the other fans, did not.
Minseok shrugged, while he kept his polite smile to her.
"Knowing that I'm Minseok, may have your own name?"
"YN"
"YN... YN...YN..." He repeated your name, as if he was erasing all the others he had encountered so far, to make room in his memory, for your own to nestle in and remain there.
"May I write a personal message to you, for your eyes only? I feel compelled to, since the moment I stepped up on stage and I saw you cuddle your sister."
'Without trying, your enigma drew me in. In no time, I stood no chance. I am content in your embrace.'
She read. She blew out a long breath between her teeth, fighting hard to keep her tears at bay.
She would have her sister read it, once she her emotions were in control, because the teenager will definitely bawl her eyes out. Perhaps for different reasons. She was slapped in the face by his reference to time, like he knew her quarrel with it. Her sister will be thrilled that the elusive hyung, had trusted her so much to scribble such a personal message and he was not quoting and lyrics. It was his words to her older sibling.
"Tell me, what is your 'Go-To' song, you put only whenever you start listening to ‘The War’?"
In the background, 'What U Do' was playing softly. Some fans were singing and mumbling along, as Kai and D.O. sang broken parts to it.
"The Eve."
"Don't tell me, it's because of the dance practice video." She outright laughed, when he covered his face and the tip of his ears turned red. He peeped through his fingers for her answer.
She reminisced of her sister choking on her juice while her handful of popcorn missed her mouth, when the dance choreography hit the chorus. Hip thrusts on slow motion, were enough to have the video trend for weeks, while they contributed handsomely at the growing streaming numbers.
"I would like you to think, it may have been or maybe the lyrics have pushed me through the toughest moments in life." she watched the man’s smile falter a bit, with curiosity, "It continues to help."
That seemed to snap him out of self-deprecating moment, and feel the emotions behind her quiet and subtly teasing words.
"Well then, I'm glad." His expressions were back to being unreadable.
He gathered everything for her and organised it neatly into the box to gently pushed back at her, but lingered with trembling fingers before letting go.
"Thank you, YN." He bowed to her, then went back to attending the following fan, but his smile never reached his eyes from then on.
She was going to gather the exhausting human and their belongings to leave, but she paused midway to gather her strength, when a wave of dizziness engulfed her. Leaning against a chair, to take in two lungful breaths with longer exhales, fighting down nausea. Her body was nearing the end of its best behaviour. Although the pain in her abdomen, shied her appetite from food, she could not fight back the dry heaves that rack her body. The stomach acid, would burn her throat, just as it has eroded the enamel behind her teeth.
She waved her sister to remain seated, when she opened her eyes to the girl’s panicked look, deciding to approach her. There were too many eyes, and being a spectacle was the last thing she wanted. She did not want to take the attention from the eight people of the moment.
"Excuse me, Miss… Minseokkie has sent me, to politely request that you remain behind. He would like a quick word with you after the event has concluded."
"Oh, but I was in a rush…"
"I’m afraid, he insisted and asked that I give you anything you request to keep you content while you wait. "
She looked to the line. She reduced that they may be another half an hour. Some member glance up and ahead in her direction with quizzical looks or frowns, but the man in question never looked to her, but devoted all his attention to the fan in front of him. He smiled when he needed to, comforted when felt compelled to, laughed out loud in animation, but it was the between fans that his serious face was unreadable to her eyes. He deliberately keeps his gaze away from her direction.
"Two bottles of chilled water will be fine." She looked back to waiting staff member, "Thank-you."
In her seat, she completed her playlist, and drafted her departure letter to the person lying her head on lap, while they both finally latched onto the Wi-Fi.
The staff member remained close by, but she never bothered him. Instead, she watched, nearly an hour later, when SuHo and Sehun rounded off the event with a short ‘ment. All members gathered their personal stuff on the table, to disappear through the back door to some lobby or waiting area. The staff member was ushered upon, leaving them alone in the now empty room. The security did not even bother to ask, why they had remained. Her sister was also uncharacteristically quiet.
When Minseok appeared back into the large room, he looked unsettled, before he schools his expressions, then brightened when he looked up to rising form.
"I kept you waiting for so long. I’m sorry."
She merely smiled and said nothing else.
"I asked Sehun to cover for me, so SuHo will not be as mad, and he will cover for me so the staff will not be as mad."
Again, silence.
"YN."
"Yes, Minseok?"
"You stuck with me, and if that surprised the heck Jongdae, then imagine how shaken my system is?" before she could say anything, "I want to be more ‘unlike me’ and brave at hope of asking to see more of you again."
She watched the nervous man, calmly deliver his speech, while he held her gaze. She would be lying if she said, she did not appreciate his straight-forward actions, because universe made sure she cut to the with everything and anything she interacted with. She would be lying if she did not admit to having a different feeling in her stomach than the dull pain she was used to. She would be lying if she did not admit that her quiet tone, was not faked irritation or coldness but she was just as nervous as his trembling fingers in his pockets.
"I came with my sister. " She blurted out, and winced in self-admonishment and heard his small chuckle.
"You told me about her earlier."
"Well, I’m running at her time, as were both infringing on, as we speak."
Right, he nodded, looking at his feet as he looked to be thinking fast at his next move. When he looked up, all traces of nervousness were gone. Back, was the sure and confident man with a grave tone.
"Little sisters are our secret weapon, for us to be the best older siblings we could be, they could possibly have." He dug his hands in his jean’s pockets.
"Your best ally in the most trying of situations..."
"The only one remaining in your corner, when you’re in need of a shield and support..."
"The strongest when you least expect it, especially strongest for you without asking..." her eyes downcast, to avoid them falling back to the teenager.
The two of them stood in a comfortable silence, staring each other. Rooted to the spot, all urgency to return to his schedule, forgotten. Her need to get her sister back to her dorm without her matron noticing her absence, forgotten. Although she knew her sister's dorm supervisor would not mind, when she finds out that her little sister was out with her, knowing about the condition. Her sister was sometime allowed to visit her, whenever she suffered a setback in her treatment.
"I need to be with you again." He blurted out, latching her away from her wandering thoughts, "I need to see you again."
Time was not on her side. The news, her oncologist offered during their appointment, after her chemo, was that the treatment was not working. The tumours had spread to her lungs, liver, stomach and part of her colon. Their aggressive fight at the cancer, had backfired or the tumours had fought harder than she did. The doctor had advised that she set her affairs in order in the next few weeks if not three months.
Her first order of business, was the company of her sister. On her way to pick up her sister, she had compiled a playlist for her. It was her start on setting business in order, although all the paperwork and policies were well taken care of. In a way, she knew her fight would come to an ugly end, sooner than later.
On top of the song collection, EXO's Promise and Walk on Memories were her choice. In her note, she scribbled her advice that she should keep an eye on Chen's lyricism, that his future albums may just be worth the wait.
"Time is not on my side." She answered vaguely.
He titled his head to the side, his black curls, over his buzz undercut, contrasted his bright gummy smile. This time it was a small smile that clung to the corner of his lips.
"May you excuse me for a moment, then?" She nodded, and he went around her, thinking he was going to back to his members and staff.
Instead, he went to crouch by her sister's feet, forgoing an empty seat on either side of her. Her sister's bowed head, came up in surprise at the idol's presence at her feet. For people who didn't know her, would miss the sadness in her body language, belied by her animated smile to Minseok.
The pair chatted for a while. Each passing minute their interaction grew sombre and serious as he had moved to sit next her as she rested her head on his shoulder. Just as she always does with her.
"I take it, you know."
"Why, time is not on your side?" he nodded, "yet I still want to see you again, this time much sooner than I had initially anticipated."
"She doesn't know, that my time with her has been reduced to a maybe three months."
The sombreness in his features were tinged with a mature understanding and gentleness from the EXO hyung.
Minseok in front of her, looked at her as a brother to a sister and it dawning on him that he had not ever imagined a situation like that for himself and his loved ones.
Not once did his eyes leave her own, so she was privy to all the emotions that ran through his soul. She knew he allowed her to see through him, into him and it was not just her shrewd perceptive skills. His eyes had grown glossy as her own cheek was dampened by a single streak. On cue, they simultaneously blew out a long breath, to shift around for their composure.
"There are a few weeks open in my schedule, that I can squeeze you in."
"And I was thinking about later this evening, to cook dinner for you, but I think tomorrow evening is more convenient for everyone else." A playful smile, ghosted his face.
"What about your schedule and commitments?" she couldn’t help, smile back.
"I'll speak to my manager and ask SuHo to explain to the members about my 24hours absence."
He shrugged.
She couldn't hold back a smile, when he confidently with mild apprehension, had ticked off his new 'To-do' list on his fingers.
"So long as I don't get you in trouble, then 24hours will be more than enough with me."
"Good. Noona, can I type in my details on your phone, so I will be the one to expect your call and location."
Her head whipped around to her sister, who also heard the honorific.
"What? It came up?" She mouthed, with a shrug, her wide eyes mirroring hers.
She heard his chuckle, that brought her attention back to him. Her mind wandered to all the security protocols he was flinging through the window, the longer he stood between her and the exit of the now empty conference room.
She offered her phone, and his eyes were raised at her lock screen background.
"What? 'The War', may just be my favourite album yet, same as your visuals and vocals... and I also like the Strelitzia flower you used for your album cover." She shrugged with a pout.
He was suddenly flustered and sheepish, when he murmured his 'Thank-You'. He typed in his details, as she watched his hands tremble the longer held on to her phone. He was done, but he had not moved to offer it back to her.
"Well then, I need to get her," her thumb jabbed over her shoulder, "back before she is found out and punished because of me and now I have to replenish my refrigerator for tomorrow night."
She had turned to get her sister's attention, but the girl had been silently watching their interaction with a watery yet smug smile dance over her pursed lips that barely held back what would have been a wide grin. She 'shooed' her, to look away.
"Noona, May I be too forward for my next act?"
She looked around to make sense of the man's words, when she found her face cradled in warm hands. She had missed the lean of his face towards her own, when soft lips brushed her own chapped lips. She was thankful for her behaved stomach that morning and most thankful for the water she drank earlier.
Her time, now perceived at a different spectrum. She had little care how negatively he may react to the condition of her lip. She was focused of the enjoyment and thrill of the attention and care the man rained down on her as he angled his head to deepen the kiss. He never pushed for more than she was willing to give. She never expected more than she was given.
His curls tickled at the tip of her nose. He was careful not to tip her hat from her head. A suck on her top lip and a nibble on her bottom lip, she had little care for the sigh of satisfaction that left her lips.
She was still in daze when he had leaned away as swift as he had captured her lips. But he never left her personal space. She was aware that some members and staff had come around to check what kept Minseok away. She also heard her sister's squeals when Minseok buried his face to her neck, when he had looked over her shoulder to the teenager.
On instinct, she moved her hands to wrap them around his waist. His hands on her cheek and the other came to her arm, to bring it closer and tighter around his waist.
"I must go." He whispered.
"Me too."
"Not so soon, that I miss you tomorrow." Their foreheads and tip of their noses, touching.
"I promise to stay around long enough." She whispered against his lips.
He moved to rest his forehead on hers. She reached for her phone he had stuffed in his printed blue shirt breast pocket, before he had caught her off guard with the earlier kiss.
He bussed her forehead, and with a huff, he let go and composed himself.
She pushed away from him and moved around to the exit. She heard her sister offer her goodbyes, as she rushes to fall in step.
"You are the worst, and best, you know that right?"
"What did I do?"
"I somehow think you knew that all of that was going to happen." She was the most exasperated than she ever was with herself, her sister and mostly how cruel time was.
"Hey! you were one who brought me here."
"You were the one who made sure to leave the album behind so I fall in love with everything about it."
The pair burst out in laughter, at how crazy the last two hours was. Especially the last twenty minutes, in that empty conference room. For the first time in months, her face was red with the experiences of life. Her lips still sizzle with the after effects of the kiss. She found she had no embarrassment, that her little sister had seen it all. In the past, she always kept her dating life, private from her family and did not want her sister to see all her mishaps, heartache or the mistakes she made in relationships. Now that she no time for any of that, besides the silver lining in the form of the dinner date she now had lined up, she was glad that moment was witnessed by her.
"So, I take it, you agreed to see him again?"
The giddy, sixteen-year-old in her sister was back in her carefree and frivolous state. She was assured that she will be okay, in her absence.
"It seemed, I had little choice, when the two of you tag-teamed me."
"Hey, he asked for my advice and permission and I offered what I could." Her shrug was a carbon copy of her own shrug.
"Ugh... just shut up, and let us go and have our ice-cream treat."
She brought her arms around her little sister’s waist, pulling her close to her withered frame, similar to what she did with Minseok.
"Rum and raisin?"
"And why the heck not dowse the damn dessert with a single shot of actual rum, because your drinking age is much too far, to wait for." She playfully grimaced, but her sister did not return her dark humour.
"Not funny." Laying her head on shoulder, as they staggered around, with awkward embrace.
"And I love you, too."
She decided to not tell her just yet. She would wait after she had dinner with Minseok. She was much too happy and content, for the next forty-eight hours, and her news would have to wait until then.
"But I'm sure Minseok would enjoy both the dessert and drink." She brightened at her own train of thought, "Maybe you could serve him an affogato."
"Avocados?" She playfully teased.
"No Dumbo, he likes coff..." The younger girl stopped her explanation, when she noticed that she was teasing her. She aimed a light smack on her shoulder.
"Ow! we'll see."

life bar
idol!haechan x idol!y/n
summary: after the legendary interview was released, you and haechan began dating and have been getting an overwhelming sense of support.
genre: fluff
length: 2.1k
a/n: ah! i didn’t think the first post would gain any traction but it did! thank you so much for returning for a part two :)
this is modeled after the korean variety show, life bar. it’s a great show where celebrities aren’t subject to formal interview settings. please check it out! (mark did appear on the show with xiumin and changmin)
i’m not entirely sure of the hosts’ (other than heechul & yura) popularity outside of korea so excuse me for just labelling them as hosts.
if you missed part one, click here!
Tumblr media
originally dnghycks’ gif
[the atmosphere is lively and filled with joy] host: how long have you been dating again?
heechul: oh, haechan! you’re dating someone?
haechan: ah, hyung! let’s not act like no one knows.
[heechul, dejected, grumbles to himself]
johnny (laughing): haechan didn’t fall for your bait.
[haechan winks at heechul, making heechul go into mock rage]
host: so, it’s been about 4 years?
[haechan plays with the glass in his hands, smiling to himself]
haechan (shyly): ya, just about.
heechul: are you guys still in your honeymoon phase?
host: do you still get butterflies when you see them?
haechan (nodding): of course! it hasn’t been that long.
heechul: it’s difficult to have a successful relationship as an idol. how did you guys handle it after that interview went viral?
haechan: it was very different to what i expected, you know?
haechan: first of all, we were preparing for the award shows and i was super focused.
haechan: i think it was during our water break that notifications were blowing up all of our phones.
johnny: we were so confused and thought it was from our managers.
haechan: i didn’t react immediately but i could hear the other members reacting, saying things like “no way” or “holy crap”.
haechan: everyone turned and looked at me. i felt like an imposter.
haechan: i was like “what? do i have something on my face? did someone send a meme of me?”
haechan: that’s when mark hyung showed me the news articles.
haechan: i blanked out for the rest of the day if i’m honest, barely remember anything from that day.
haechan: the only thing i remember was the pit in my stomach growing every time i stopped practicing. so, i kept pushing myself so i didn’t have time to think.
johnny: haechan actually fainted that day. he worked himself so hard that we had to rush him to the hospital.
haechan: luckily, it was just exhaustion and i could still perform. but, when i woke up, they told me to rest as much as possible.
haechan: the managers made sure i didn’t leave the house and told me to rest up.
haechan: it forced me to process what the news articles were saying.
haechan: once i did, all i was worried about was how y/n might be handling it.
haechan: was jyp going to give them a hard time?
host: did you text them?
haechan: because we were both focused on the award shows, i thought it best to avoid contact with them until it was all over.
johnny: even when it was all over, he still couldn’t text them.
johnny: i remember haechan pacing our room, trying to decide whether or not to call them.
haechan: i wanted to offer comfort but i wasn’t sure if it would aggravate the situation.
haechan: i think it was a few days after the last award show that i had an official meeting with lee sooman and the press team.
haechan: my eyes were wide the entire meeting.
haechan: lee sooman started the meeting by saying “congratulations!” and i was confused.
haechan: he went on to explain that he liked y/n for me and would support this relationship publicly as long as it didn’t affect my work.
haechan: i couldn’t really articulate my feelings so i think i just nodded.
haechan: he continued asking me about y/n after it, asking if we had made it official yet.
haechan: when i said no, he said that he would issue a buffer statement so i had time to ask them out.
haechan: the meeting concluded and, on my way home, y/n texted me.
heechul: what did they say?
haechan: “can we talk?”
heechul (dramatically rubbing his arms): oh no! the chills!
[haechan chuckles and takes a sip of his beer]
haechan: i told them we should meet in person to talk about it as professionals and adults.
johnny: when he tells it like that, it makes him seem tough. he was tearing up while he was getting ready to go out.
[haechan throws dried squid at johnny]
johnny: yo, thank you! i was hungry!
haechan (rolling his eyes): i wasn’t tearing up—
johnny: you’re right! you were sobbing. my bad!
johnny: you were so scared that you were gonna lose y/n.
[haechan balls up his fist in playful anger]
haechan: if only…
haechan: anyways, i was scared that i was going to be entering the new year without my best friend.
haechan: i asked johnny to drive me to our meeting spot so our manager wouldn’t know.
haechan: once we got there, y/n was already waiting on the bench for me so i told johnny to just chill in the car.
johnny: this is when i snuck my phone in his parka so i could wiretap the conversation.
[haechan pinches his nose bridge]
haechan: ah, hyung! privacy! no wonder your guesses were so accurate.
haechan: anyways, we sat down and talked like we always do. then, we got together!
johnny: in the end, y/n asked him out because he kept stumbling over his words.
johnny: y/n was giggling the whole time. it was very wholesome.
[haechan facepalms while the hosts laugh]
heechul (facing the camera): y/n, please take care of haechan! i know he lacks courage sometimes but—
haechan: really, now? after 4 years?
[johnny laughs while patting haechan’s head]
host: do you hold any resentment towards your interviewers?
[haechan takes a swig of his beer]
haechan: i did at the beginning? i don’t think y/n or i were ready to confess our feelings to each other’s faces just yet.
haechan: but, it’s not entirely their fault either.
haechan: i think, because we kept it a secret for so long, we wanted to tell someone and it was the first time we were prompted to talk about it under the veil of false security.
johnny (understandingly): and it’s easier to tell strangers than your closest friends, right?
haechan: for sure. i think a small part of me did hope they would see the entire interview at some point and that’s why i was so transparent.
heechul: and, because of that, you’re in a beautiful relationship now!
haechan (grinning): thank goodness for that!
host: what did they say when you told them you were coming to our show?
[haechan throws his head back in laughter]
johnny (chuckling): they told him that his taste in alcohol sucks and that they felt sorry for the hosts.
heechul: but, all the drinks you recommended are so good!
haechan (wiping away tears): that’s because they’re their recommendations. i don’t really drink for taste, only the social aspect.
johnny: y/n doesn’t like alcohol. so, if they think something tastes good, then it tastes amazing.
heechul: let’s raise our glasses to our hero, y/n!
[everyone happily raises their glass and cheers to you]
host: did you take them on a date immediately after the statements were released?
haechan: well, i wanted to… but, busy schedules and the fact that we hung out so much beforehand made it near impossible to have a good first date.
johnny: he was looking up “good date ideas” online and kept complaining that he already did those.
haechan: it wasn’t intentional. i guess y/n and i just liked to do couple things unironically.
heechul: i can’t believe you guys never got caught.
haechan: i think it’s because we were dressed so plainly without any disguises.
haechan: only a few people ever recognized our bare faces.
haechan: so, i decided to take them to jeju to see my mom after she called me.
johnny (laughing): i remember that call! she was like “now, bring my future in-law or else i’ll beat you up!”
haechan: when we got there, my mom totally ignored me and went straight for them.
haechan: she told them “i knew donghyuck liked you! he’s such a loser for not asking you out sooner.”
[haechan massages his temple and sighs]
johnny: on the record, haechan’s mom definitely loves y/n more than him.
[haechan nods in agreement]
haechan: so, after my mom babied y/n enough, i took them where you could see the stars perfectly.
haechan: i was really nervous and i didn’t really know what to do until y/n grabbed my hand.
haechan: they looked at me and said “as long as you’re with me, every passing moment is perfect. so, stop trying so hard.”
heechul: woah, y/n is so cool.
haechan: they really are. so, we spent our first real date stargazing and just enjoyed each other’s company.
[the host introduces the next dish and haechan helps set the table] heechul: why don’t we call y/n?
haechan (hesitant): i don’t know if they’re awake. they’re always taking naps at this time.
heechul: i’ll call them.
[heechul rings you up]
you (groggily): hello?
heechul: y/n! it’s heechul with the life bar crew. if you could introduce yourself.
[shuffling is heard through the phone]
you (clearer): all in us! hello, i’m y/n from itzy!
heechul: we were just talking about your relationship and wanted to hear your perspective.
[heechul motions haechan to say something]
haechan (sweetly): hi, darling. i’m sorry we interrupted your nap.
you: no, it’s okay! my alarm was about to go off anyways.
haechan: i was telling them about what happened after the interview and our first date.
you: ah, those were interesting.
heechul: oh? interesting, how?
you (giggling): if you know haechan, you know he doesn’t really cry, much less sob. but, when he showed up to talk, his eyes were puffy from crying so much and he had tear streaks on his face.
haechan (pouting): let’s not expose too much, y/n!
you (teasingly): what are you gonna do? cry on me?
[haechan sits back in his chair, frowning]
you: anyways! i vividly remember feeling bolder after the interview, not that i wasn’t nervous about public opinion.
you: however, i was actually talking to jyp when everything blew up.
you: he reassured me that he didn’t mind and he would support any decision i made.
you: just like that, he removed a whole weight off of my shoulders.
you: so, i was able to perform with confidence and complete reassurance.
you: but, whenever i saw hyuck at the award shows, he looked like he was about to implode so i thought it was better to wait for him to text me.
you: i’m sure johnny told you how frustrated the whole group was. i was the exact same.
[haechan blushes and buries his face in his hands]
you: i just wanted to be able to call him mine but he wouldn’t text me.
[everyone laughs and quietly teases haechan]
you (laughing): honestly, i was really impatient but i didn’t want to push him. so, i waited for a whole week after the last award show.
you: but, he was avoiding me really well! i even had to text johnny to make sure he was still alive.
you: so, i decided to just reach out to him first.
you: during the meeting, i tried to act like normal and tease him about his puffy face but he was having none of it.
you: “y/n, this is serious. this is our careers we’re talking about.”
you: i was scared for a moment until he was stumbling his confession out.
you: “the interview! i meant it. everything. i do. i would really like it if— i mean if you feel the same way— of course you do! you said it in the video. you do feel the same way, right?”
haechan (whining): you’re making me sound lame!
you: no, you were cute! but, also, slightly lame.
[you cackle through the phone]
you: so, i just asked him.
heechul: how about the first date?
you: he was so worried about being romantic and having that perfect first date that he forgot that i’m just a simple person.
you: when we went to see the stars, he was so nervous and was getting frustrated with himself.
you: to me, the effort he went through in itself was romantic to me.
you: i didn’t need the most spectacular first date because him being by my side was more than perfect.
you: so, i just let him know my thoughts and, when he finally relaxed, it became the most memorable first date ever.
heechul: what happened after he relaxed?
haechan: i listed all the little things that made me fall in love with them time and time again.
[everyone awes]
you: he made me feel like the most beautiful being in the universe.
heechul: okay! before this turns to sappy, y/n! thank you so much for joining us today!
you (laughing): it was my pleasure! invite me next time so i can expose haechan!
haechan: ya!
heechul: will do, bye!
[heechul hangs up the call]
host: you can definitely feel the love between you two.
haechan (in mock anger): i’m going to jump them the next time i see them.
heechul (grinning): well, i wish you guys nothing but happiness. host (raising his glass): to haechan and y/n’s beautiful relationship! [glasses clink as a bright grin appears on haechan’s face]
a/n: if i’m completely honest, idk how relationships work so idk if the way i wrote about this situation was done in a healthy way :P

Roommates (Oh My God, They Were Roommates)
Genre: Fluff | Roommate!au | College!au
 Pairing: Chanyeol x Reader
Length: 1.2k
Warning: Language | Unfinished
Summary: You decide to move in with your best friend, Park Chanyeol, for school.... What’s the worst that could happen???
Author’s Note: Deadass, I wrote this measly 1000 words waaaay back in 2013. This was going to be That Fic™. But, my passion for it fizzled out rather quickly. Sad day. (Also I was drunk when I made the vine reference in the title and yah its staying 😤)

“I can’t believe this is actually happening!” You squealed.
“I know right? After all these years we are finally moving in together.” Chanyeol smirked up at you.
“Thank you guys for helping!” You thanked the rest of your gang as they carried the couch into yours and Chanyeol’s new shared apartment.
“Oh, it’s no problem,” Kris said between huffs. “But it’d be better if you were also helping us, instead of sitting on the couch. You’re heavy!”
You sighed and leaned back deeper into the couch, “I’m a woman, and women aren’t supposed to lift heavy objects. Especially if there are a bunch of attractive men who will do it for her.”
“I feel like I’m a slave,” Kai muttered, struggling to keep the couch afloat.
“Well, I am the queen.”
Finally, they were able to bring the couch in and set it down to where you wanted it.
“That’s the last of it,” Chanyeol informed. The boys all cheered and started rushing out the door.
“Hey! Where are you going?” You hollered at them, racing to the door and staring at their retreating forms.
“We’re leaving before you find something else for us to carry you on!” Xiumin replied back.
“But… But I bought pizza!”
“We’ve already ordered our own, but thanks anyway!” Sehun called back. You watched in disbelief as they all hopped into their cars and drove off, leaving skid marks and dirt flying into the air.
“Those little…” You slammed the door and spun around. Chanyeol was standing in the middle of the—your--living room, just looking around. You locked eyes and broke out into grins.
“We did it!” He yelled and you ran over to him. You both started jumping around in circles cheering and giggling.
“No more parents!” You cheered.
“Parties and booze!” Chanyeol laughed.
Twenty minutes later, you were huddled in front of the television, watching an exciting action movie while enjoying your first shared meal: pizza and red wine.
“This is going to be so much fun,” Chanyeol sighed, taking a sip of his wine.
You nudged him with your elbow, “we are going to be the best roommates ever!”
He lifted up his glass, “I can cheers to that!”
You clinked your cups and chugged down the rest. This was going to be fun.
~*~
You were walking home from school when your phone started ringing. You hastily checked the caller I.D., just to sigh when you saw ‘mother’ written across the screen.
“Hello?”
“Honey! I was just thinking about you and thought I’d give you a ring. How is everything?”
“Fine. I just left my last class for the day and am heading home.”
“How is school?”
You shrugged, “school is school. I’m not failing anything yet, so that’s good.”
“And are you still working at that fancy restaurant?”
“Yup.”
“And how is Chanyeol and the apartment?”
You smiled at the mention of your living arrangements, “Chanyeol is an absolute angel and the place is still intact, although we almost started a fire a few days ago.”
“Fire!?” You started laughing at your mom’s worry.
“Nothing the two of us can’t handle. I’m at my house now, so I’m going to go.”
“Oh, well, I love you, take care.”
“Of course, love you too.”
You hung up and tossed your phone back into your purse, trading it for your set of keys.
“Chanyeol?” You called as you entered the room. No reply. You took your shoes off and headed over to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water when you noticed the man of the hour. He was sitting at your wooden table, his head in one hand as the other gripped a hot mug of coffee tightly.
“Chanyeol?” You repeated as you took in his tall frame. He groaned as your voice pierced his ears. You winced also, “hangover?”
“Like you wouldn’t believe,” he murmured.
You sat opposite him, “I told you not to drink that bottle of vodka all by yourself.”
“I know, I know. But you already knew I was drunk before I even grabbed it, right?”
You chuckled, “what am I going to do with you?”
“You can drag me to my room and then clean this house up a bit,” he mentioned with a slight smirk.
You scrunched up your nose, “I’ll pass. Your party, your mess.”
He pouted, “I guess...”
You stood up and walked over to him, yanking him up as well, “come on. Let’s get you back to bed.”
He moaned, but followed you back to his room. You tucked him in like a child and kissed him on the forehead.
“You’re too good to me,” he murmured sleepily before he got comfortable and dozed off.
You already knew that.
You decided to clean up a bit. Chanyeol was usually very good about cleaning the aftermath of your parties, but last night he did drink a lot more than he typically did.
While cleaning, you couldn’t help but to think about the day he asked you to move in with him. You were actually making plans to move in with your other best girlfriend, Jisoo, but he got to you first, and you just couldn’t say no. Chanyeol could be very persuasive when he wanted to be. He gave this big speech about the both of you being best friends since kindergarten and that he was afraid to live with one of the other guys because they were ‘disgusting’ and ‘pigs’. He had told you that you were responsible enough to be like a mother but without suffocating him like one, and that you would balance each other out.
He was right about all of that. At first you thought the idea was queer. Moving in with a boy right after high school? Your parents questioned you a lot after you purposed the idea, but once they realized that you were moving in with Chanyeol, the idea was less sinister to them. And he was a great roommate, he cleaned up after himself, and bought things that you needed, he also didn’t make a lot of noise, which was nice. All in all, You’re glad you took his offer.
Last night’s party was a celebration for your first month living together—a great cause for celebration. You still couldn’t believe that you’d been living under the same roof for a month, but here you were, and the house hadn’t burnt down yet.
Around six, you knocked on Chanyeol’s door and poked your head in. He was still wrapped in his blankets, but he was awake, watching television, although the volume was turned low. He glanced up at you, his eyes still glossy, and you invited yourself inside the room. You sat a glass of water on the desk beside him and a couple pills.
“You’ve done it again,” he praised, his deep voice scratchy from sleep.
“I try.” You watched him swallow the pills and lay back in his bed, full of content. “Well, I’m off to work.”
“Aw man, they gave you the late shift?” He asked.
You nodded with a sigh, “luckily it is a Friday, so hopefully I get some tips.”
“You always get tipped well.”
“Because I have nice tits?” You asked, lifting an eyebrow.
He chuckled, “because you have a pretty smile… and because you have nice tits.”
“Ew,” You hit his head and left the room. “Feel better, Perv.”

Sehun had been called out to do a last minute job. Ever since he murdered Jonghoon, a number of clans had been on the move, hoping to work their way into new territory or get their hands on unclaimed goods. The night was dark and moist, fog clouding the streets as the car made its way toward the pier near the Han River warehouses. Chanyeol was seated in the car with him, his hand on the wheel,
"How's the little beauty?" He asked the younger male with a smile. "Is she settled in alright?"
"She's settled in. As for alright, I'm not so sure she's completely alright with this idea," the raven-haired hitman rested his chin on his hand and looked out the window. "She's still frightened of me and I have a feeling she will be for awhile."
"Still scared huh...?" Chanyeol hummed, staring straight through the windshield. The first part of their plan was a success, but he was disappointed that she was keeping her distance. Even so, he could understand why. She was scared. "Maybe Baekhyun and I can see her after her. And Minseok hyung too. Seeing us interact with you will most likely put her at ease."
"It could work and maybe more time with Vivi," Sehun began to think over ways of getting her to break out of her shell. "Just make sure to keep work related topics out of the conversation. She's still a bit shocked over her family beginning associated with this kind of work."
"That can be arranged, and as for you," the older male smirked before pulling up near the FT syndicate's territory, ready to seize it. "Why not use your charms on her? We all know the women at the cabarets we went to can't resist your eye smile... but that would require her looking up at you... we need her to look at you first." He stopped the car and opened the dashboard, pulling out his glock. "Minseok hyung and Baekhyun should be here already."
"I'll find a way to get her to look at me, but it won't be by force. That would only complicate things more," Sehun pulled out his gun with the tally mark etchings, reloading ammo before tucking it into the pocket inside his suit jacket.
Kim Minseok--or as his friends call him, Xiumin--was standing beside a building, his cat eyes scanning the area as he waited for Chanyeol and Sehun to arrive. He was the man responsible for all the coffee imports that came in. Ever since he joined EXO in his younger years, he had helped Suho's father accumulate so much money, and he was entrusted to protect him once Suho inherited the family business.
With him was Baekhyun, who had a wicked look in his eyes as he turned over the silver handgun with a smirk. This look was much different than when he was in the estate with Chen, being mischievous and having a laugh. "Yah, Baekhyun-ah... put the gun away. Don't take it out until we move in..."
"I'm only admiring it. Look how pretty is shines in the light," Baekhyun remarked, looking over the gun in his hand. "Remember, I'm Hyun when I'm out here, Minseok hyung."
"Early as always I see. Some things just never change."
Xiumin heard Sehun's voice, looking away from the younger male and toward the other as well as Chanyeol when they approached, "You know I'm punctual. Junmyeon told me what happened. You took out Jonghoon of the FT Syndicate?" He questioned.
"It wasn't my intention at first, but the guy couldn't keep his mouth shut and decided to give away all the information he had before any of the real fun could begin." The hitman chuckled, remembering the night he cornered the blabbering coward before he could get his felthybhands on Haneul.
"And the girl?" He wonder while they walked into the other syndicate's territory, hiding behind another building where an import was coming in. "She's still uneasy about all this, I'm guessing?"
Chanyeol's eyes were on Baekhyun, smirking a bit when he saw that deranged look in his eyes. He was Hyun right now—while he was out taking another territory. Once this was over, he would be back to being the regular Baekhyun who smiled and giggled brightly, "Nice gun. Is it new?"
"You noticed!" Baekhyun grinned with excitement. "Thought I should treat the boys with a present for our surprise arrival."
"You're always willing to go the extra mile, Baekhyunnie," The other male said, leaning against the back of the building with his gun out. The leader of the FT Clan, Oh Wonbin, was immersed in a conversation with one of his men, his expression slightly contorted. He was a man in his thirties with black hair and tanned skin, his suit blending with the night as anger radiated from him. It seemed he had figured out that Jonghoon had been killed.
"She's kept herself locked in her room. I told her the entire place was hers as well, but I guess she just hasn't warmed up to it yet," Sehun joined Xiumin in their hiding position. "Chanyeol hyung and I were discussing a way in which we think can break the ice a little."
"All this waiting makes me anxious. Can we go now?" Baekhyun asked with wide eyes, on the verge of going trigger happy if he didn't step out and begin his assault.
"Yah! Not yet!" The eldest scolded the shorter male, holding up his gun before addressing Sehun. "If you mean us meeting her, I'm more than alright with that." He looked toward Wonbin, his brows furrowed and his eyes narrow, listening to him yell.
"Find the bastard who killed him!" The man yelled. "If they mean to start a war, we'll give them one!"
"Yes sir!" His men exclaimed.
"Sehun-ah," Chanyeol muttered. "I think you pissed him off... not that I care though. I would have killed Jonghoon too..."
"He crossed the lines between zones and then went after Haneul. He got what was coming to him," the younger male spoke coldly, his blood boiling slightly. "The rest of this clan is about to know the same fate seeing as Wonbin had taken an interest in her."
"We move in and take this territory. We don't use our guns unless we have to," Xiumin said, sprinting away from the building and running up to one of Wonbin's men, punching him across the face and throwing his head against the garbage dump. He watched the man's body slump to the ground, and he turned to face the other men in the FT Syndicate.
"It's EXO!" Another man cried out.
"EXO is here!"
Chanyeol moved away from the building, eyeing the other criminals with their suits, rings and tattoos, all holding metal batons in their hands. He chuckled darkly and cracked his knuckles, "I'm going to have fun with you all..."
"Yahoo!" Baekhyun exclaimed, chasing down a group of men with a psychotic look in his eye. He punched one in the gut, then kneed him square in the jaw when he doubled over in pain.
Wonbin looked between them, watching his men as they ran into the fray. It was his ten men against four, which meant they were outnumbered. Even so, he knew EXO was always a problem, especially because of their hitman. He would be difficult to kill, and paired with his apathy, that made him someone who wouldn't hesitate to take a life. Wonbin took out a set of brass knuckles, "Looks like I know who killed Jonghoon." He said as Sehun walked quickly toward him.
"You know, you should teach your men to keep their big mouths shut," Sehun stated plainly. "I would have kept him alive, but he just had to blabber. He would have been well taken care of with us."
"Like I'll believe that. EXO's always been an obstacle for the FT group," he sneered, taking his stance, his fists up. "Now that a survivor of the Cho Clan has risen, my Clan is in danger. Jonghoon could have taken the girl if you hadn't showed up. We could have had so much fun with her! We could have sold her off for a pretty penny, maybe made her into our slave."
About a minute into fighting, the men that we're against Chanyeol were on the ground, groaning with bruised eyes and broken noses. "Aish... you got my suit all bloody," he frowned, looking down at his clothes, stained with grime and crimson. "Do you know how hard it is to get blood stains off of clothes?"
Xiumin was finished on his end, but another round came running toward him. He took his stance, holding up his fists before he saw three of them holding out knives. "You really want to play dirty, huh...?"
Baekhyun looked up from the man who he had pinned on the ground with his arm held tightly behind his back. "Oh look! More people to play with." He harshly pushed the guy's arm further until a pop emitted from it. The man under him screamed with agony, laying on the ground and breathing heavily, fatigue taking over his body, and he joined Xiumin in his fight against the next wave of opponents.
He glanced at the younger male and cracked his neck, "No wonder you've been hyper today," he said as one of the men with the knives came at him, and he dodged swiftly, pushing his arm away and landing a punch to his torso.
"I haven't had a good fight in ages!" Baekhyun chuckled darkly, finding a slim metal rod on the ground picking it up and holding like a bat. "So, who wants to pitch first?" One of the men charged him. He took a step to the side before swinging the rod and making contact with the man's side.
Xiumin executed a roundhouse kick, the man he was fighting stumbling backward, and Chanyeol jumped up to kick his back, and he fell forward, falling to their feet. "That went well," he wiped away the blood from his split lip.
"And Baekhyunnie is having fun too," Chanyeol said as he watched him swing at others with a rod before yelling. "Yah! Leave some for us! Don't have fun without us!"
"Well then, stop being slow and find your own man!" He shouted before taking a hit to the face. The man who had punched him laughed, pleased with himself until Baekhyun slowly turned back to look at him. He wiped the blood from his busted and swollen lip, looking at it briefly before turning his wicked eyes back on the man, followed by a crazed smile. His grin spread further across his face as he raised the rod in his hand before swiftly bringing it down on the side of the man's knees, throughly dislocating it. The man crumbled, prompting Baekhyun to strike in the center of his back. He laughed maniacally, continuing to beat the rod against the man's back, not once ceasing until a loud crack was heard.
Meanwhile, Sehun had been attacking FT's leader, aiming a fist low and under Wonbin's ribs, hoping to hit far enough under to shock him long enough to get another blow in."Like hell I'll let that happen!" Sehun protested.
Wonbin staggered, watching the hitman close in to give him another attack, but he grabbed his fist before he could, pushing it back with a strong grunt. He cackled, finding joy in taunting the younger male, "All tied up with no way to help her! You'll hear her begging and pleading for me to stop! Who knows? Maybe I'll have my men have a go at her. How does that sound?!"
That's when Sehun snapped. He lunged at Wonbin, fist flying with the intent to break his jaw. He'd had enough of sitting by and listening to him talk. It was time for action. Every word, every suggestion, every sick, twisted thought that came into the other man's mind had him reeling. He wasn't sure why he was losing it but Sehun was now blinded by his anger and hatred. He would kill this man for even thinking about using Haneul as some slave. It was like he was seeing red, all sense blocked out as he continuously attacked, his fists zooming through the air, creating bruises and drawing blood from the FT Clan's leader.
Wonbin fell back several times, attempting to block each attack, but it was proving to be difficult. He knew EXO's hitman was deadly but he didn't think he was senseless. It was like he turned into a monster who wouldn't stop until he was dead. The pain raked through his body, fresh bruises littering his face and spitting blood when it fell from his mouth. Crying with pain, he couldn't move his jaw—Sehun had successfully broke it—more blood spilling past his lips. He looked up at the raven-haired with fear, crawling backward.
"Now look what you've done it. You've gone and made me the bad guy," Sehun sighed wiping his hand across his face along with the bruise forming on it. He looked back down at him and walked forward.
"Y-You're goddamn crazy!" He sobbed as he held his jaw, his words unclear and coming out in slurs, but Sehun was able to tell what he was saying. "Junmyeon is going to pay for sending you here!" The man barked, and suddenly, a gunshot sounded, but the bullet touched the ground by the younger male's feet.
Across the street, another male appeared, his gun poised with a string of smoke rising from the barrel. He had silvery blonde hair, his narrow eyes resting on the other hitman as he approached his leader. This was Hongki and he was the hitman of the FT Syndicate.
"Kill him, and I put a bullet in you." He said calmly.
Sehun turned his attention away from Wonbin to glare at Hongki. Now that there was another hitman here, things could turn uglier than they already were. Another mob war was something he wanted to prevent. If this continued, more innocent people could die and Ha-Neul would have a bigger target painted on her back. He breathed through his nose and put his gun away, the silence of the pier surrounding him. Of course, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and Xiumin has successfully dealt with the other men, and that meant this was more than enough to get the message across. However, in the long run, they had failed their assignment and he would have to tell tomorrow when he visited him.
"We're done here," Sehun said gently, turning away and walked toward the car, and his friends followed close behind, keeping their distance when they saw the livid glint in his dark gaze.

Haneul woke up from her nap, finding the apartment was silent, her new bedroom dark except for the city lights that illuminated Seoul's skyline. She was warm and the bed was still very soft, and though the feeling was pleasant, she was disappointed that this wasn't a nightmare.
She sat up and rubbed her eyes, getting off of the bed and tiptoeing toward the door. She closed her hand around the doorknob slowly, opening the door and looking at the hallway. The light was on, and so were the lights of the rest of the apartment. She stepped out, closing the door behind her quietly and looked around, opening the door across from her.
She was greeted with Sehun's room, simple and furnished with a bed and dresser, along with a walk-in closet that held all of his expensive clothes. There was another wide window that beheld the city as well as a small basket in the corner with a soft blanket and cushions. She assumed Vivi slept there.
She closed the door to his room and found the bathroom with its porcelain toilet, large shower, white sink and sparkling mirror. The towels were rolled up in the shelf neatly and another hung near the shower, the material soft to the touch, matching the warm bathroom mats. Everything is so expensive, she thought as she walked into the living room.
The door to Sehun's study wide open, meaning he was out. Breathing a sigh of relief, she was able to relax her shoulders, walking into his study and looking over the many books that lined his shelf. She found a leather-bound Bible, a Talmud with intricate designs, and many novels in English, Mandarin, and Korean. There was a laptop on his desk, a picture with Sehun and his brothers, and the chair was made of fine leather as well.
Haneul's stomach began to grumble softly, licking her lips in hunger. She left his office and walked toward the kitchen to find something, her soft steps making Vivi's ears twitch. He had been laying by the coffee table until he found her exploring the penthouse. He stood and walked toward her, his tongue out.
"Hey, boy," Her voice was soft, kneeling before him and stroking his fur, managing to smile back at him half-heartedly. "Your Master isn't home, huh...? Are you hungry too?"
Vivi wagged his fluffy tail that reminded her of a fluffy cloud. He opened his mouth almost like he was smiling.
She giggled to herself, tilting her head, "I'll take that as a yes," she stood back up and searched the cabinets until she found his dog food, filling his bowl with the appropriate amount of food as well as his water tin, setting it to the side. "Eat up... and now," she crossed her arms and frowned, unsure of what to make. "I have to find something to eat too..."
The brunette opened the fridge, and there wasn't much besides milk, eggs, and rice cakes. She sighed heavily and grabbed the eggs, opening another cabinet and finding the last pack of ramyeon, and just her luck, there was leftover rice. In the next half hour, she had taken the rice out of the rice cooker, placing it into the bowl with cooked ramyeon and a soft boiled egg, grabbing her chopsticks and sitting at the breakfast counter, satiating her hunger.
It wasn't the home-cooked meal she usually made for herself but it would have to do. She would have to find some way to ask Sehun to stock up on food. From what she gathered as she searched the kitchen previously, he probably didn't cook at all. It made her wonder if he even ate a proper meal.
Why am I suddenly so concerned? She thought, quickly pushing away any thoughts of him, reminding herself that she wasn't free—that he was a part of a dangerous gang. She didn't know how she would like this, constantly hiding from him and waiting for him to leave just so she could eat and relax. This wasn't living at all. Even though he said everything in this apartment was hers as well, she still felt like a prisoner.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a key pushing into the lock, and she froze in place, her chopsticks slack in her hand when the front door opened.
"Haneul, I'm back," Sehun called out as he slowly pushed the door open. He walked inside, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and Xiumin behind him, and he looked toward the kitchen where Vivi had finished his food, sitting with his tail wagging and his doggy smile on his face. "Where is...?" The raven-haired male wondered before he saw the half-finished bowl of rice and ramyeon. She stood beside the breakfast counter, holding her hands in front of her with her eyes at her feet.
"So that's her," Baekhyun said, his lips pursed and his eyes wide as he took in the girl from head to toe.
"Ah... she's so pretty," Xiumin remarked, smiling toward her affectionately. "And she looks so tiny..."
Sehun was glad she wasn't hiding, but he was still disheartened since she didn't look up at him, even more so when he saw the food she was eating. He truly thought he was keeping her here as a prisoner.

Hell and Back- Chapter 19: Date Night (Trials 25-26)
Word count: 1533
Chapter warnings: None
[Please do not replicate any of the behaviors read in this book.]
-----
"Limited power is Sehun," she said looking up. "We only have a few more people left to go. Maybe I should-"
"Xiumin, you're up." Suho cut her off. As she stared at him, he looked at her strangely. "What are you waiting for? Hit his name." Shaking her head slightly in astonishment, she did as he asked. She felt like this would backfire later, but... there wasn't much she could do.
       "Slash someone's tires." She said.
"That's not too bad."Xiumin said, sighing. "At least I don't have to drive off a cliff or something. Do you still have that knife, Y/N?" She nodded, pulling out of her pocket with slight irritation. She knew that it wasn't Xiumin's fault that Suho was gatekeeping the challenges from her, but she couldn't help but take it out on everyone just a little. Taking it gently from her hand with a grateful nod, he flipped out the sturdiest knife in the bunch.
Kneeling down next to the car that they'd just crashed, he felt around for the softest spot. Limber fingers eventually settling on a particularly squishy area on the inner ring, he drew back the blade, puncturing the tire. With a hiss of air, it began leaking, causing the circle to slowly melt. Looking up to her expectantly, she checked the status of the trial. After a moment, she shook her head.
       "Nothing."
"Maybe you have to do all four?" Kai suggested. "It did say tires."
"Oh, good point." Xiumin said, lifting himself up off the ground to repeat the process for the adjacent tire. It only took him a minute to get the rest of the tires, the car sinking one millimeter at a time. Looking over it, slight guilt in his eyes, he glanced over to her again. As she lifted the phone, she saw a bit of italicized text appear... never good.
"It... It says you need to slash the tires of someone's real car."
"How does it know this stuff?" Sehun groaned, complaining. "Like, a tire's a tire!"
"Well, we should probably just do what it says." Chanyeol sighed. "Wouldn't want to deal with 'failure', now would we?" He joked. Despite the nature of his jest, it did bring back the memory of Luhan. She hoped he was doing okay... there was no rule against texting him, right? Maybe she should just-
"Y/N! Are you coming?" Kai called, catching her attention. They were leaving to find another car for Xiumin.
"Yeah, sorry!" She ran over, jumping into the car.
"Should we just go back near the rooms?" Kyungsoo asked. "It's getting kind of late anyway, and as soon as we're done with this, we're a quarter of the way through, so maybe it's best if-"
"No." Suho said. "We keep going. We should finish the personal trials before we go to bed."
"Um, Suho," Chen reached to put a hand on his shoulder. "I know you're freaked out, but everyone's tired, including you. Maybe you just need-"
"I'm not freaked out, and I'm not tired!" He said shortly, trying not to raise his voice. Calming his tone, he grit his teeth, "I just want to make progress on this. The more we do now, the less we do later. So we're finishing the personal trials tonight. After this we just have Tao, Sehun, Chanyeol, and Kris."
"And me." Y/N said, reminding him once again that he was leaving her out.
"...Yeah." He said, almost as if he was trying not to think about it. Did he have some sort of plan? "Anyway, we also shouldn't be slashing tires so close to where some of us live. Then we're suspicious. Just pick some random car."
"Well, we're kind of close to the city." Kris offered. "There are always cars parked in sketchy alleys. Let's just get one of those." Everyone agreeing, Kris edged the car down a nearby alley, cars parked on both sides as he said. Getting out, Kris started,
"We should maybe spread out, just in case something happens. Xiumin, just go to the car in the back, it shouldn't take more than two minutes. Let's go." Since Kris obviously, (and concerningly), seemed to know what he was doing, they obliged. Tao walked down to the mouth of the alley, looking off into the distance as he did so. Curious, Y/N followed him, watching as he leaned against the brick walls, looking out over the dirty streets.
"How are you feeling?" He asked as she walked up behind her, causing her to pause for a moment. She didn't realize he was aware of her presence.
"Alright, a little tired. What about you?"
       "Fine. Little worried."
"Yeah..." she said. There was nothing else to discuss, everyone was a little on edge. They were a quarter of the way through, just like Suho had said, but there was still a lot of way to go.
"Your phone is buzzing." He pointed out, surprising her. She hadn't even heard it... His senses must have been better than hers, to say the least. Pulling it out lazily, she unlocked it, realizing that the notification was coming from the app.
"Oh, it's the trials." Eyebrow raising, he asked,
       "Is Xiuimin's trial done?"
"No... And it doesn't usually notify me outside of the app when trials are finished..." Looking over the text, she read it out. "Do you wish to replace player Tao's trial with a simultaneous trial to player Xiumin's? There's a countdown of a minute and a half, as well."
       "That's... strange." Tao said slowly.
"How did it know that we wanted you to go next? Did it hear Suho talking earlier?"
"I mean, if it knows when we complete trials, it has to have some way of observing what we do, right?"
       "So... should we accept it?"
       "Maybe we ask Suho..."
"We're down to thirty seconds, though," Y/N countered. "Do we have time?" Eyes shifting left and right a few times, he finally shrugged.
"I mean, I'm curious. Hit it." Pressing the accept button, the screen flipped back to the regular trial screen. Xiumin's trial compacted, sliding left to about half of its original size, a new bubble appearing to its right. Labeled, "Player Tao" at the top, the text underneath appeared. Hit on the next person that walks into the alley. Reading it over her shoulder, his nose scrunched up.
       "Really?" She shrugged.
"I guess that's your trial now. Let's hope it's a pretty-" Just as she was making fun of him for this new development, they began to hear heavy footsteps. Peeking around the corner, one of them above the other, both of their eyes widened. The man walking towards them must have been six feet tall, middle aged and well built, dressed in what one would expect any biker-type man to wear to a bar on a Friday night. But half of those qualifications weren't being met, so why was he walking towards the alley. Freaking out a bit, Tao turned to her.
       "What do I do?!"
"It's okay, we don't even know if he's coming in here! Just-" She was trying to console him when a deep voice spoke up from next to them.
"Um, excuse me?" Looking up, they saw the man in question, hovering over them.
"H-hello!" She said, waving, trying to get Tao to speak by elbowing him. "What can we do for you?"
"I'm, uh, trying to get to my car." He pointed behind them. "So if you could just... move." Oh... OH! This was why the trial had been aside, it had to have been his car that Xiumin was slashing the tires on right now. What kind of sick twisted irony was this game trying to pull. Regardless, there wasn't much they could do now... Tao would just have to distract him. Collecting his thoughts, Tao started to talk.
"Hey, uh... you come here often?" She nearly face palmed right in front of them. Was he serious? And after all the girlfriends he'd had, this was the best he could do? Still, it served to confuse the man, at least.
       "I... what?" He asked.
"You look good in, uh, that... old jacket." Giving Tao a weird look, the man coughed awkwardly.
"Look, kid, I appreciate it, but I'm 37, straight, and married, so I'd like to go home now." Pushing him lightly out of the way, he began traversing down the alley. Looking at her phone, she saw both challenges clear at the same time. She had no idea how that had managed to count as 'hitting on' someone. It was more like a verbal assault of secondhand embarrassment. Still, she frantically waved her hand for the other boys to get out of there as fast as possible.
No longer trying to save any face, they ran as fast as they could, piling into Kris's car. Just as they heard the man shout in anger, Kris tore off down the drive, out of sight before he could even run out of the alley to grab their license plate number. Breathing in deeply, Xiumin sighed.
"Alright, that's that I guess... So who's next, Tao?"
       "Actually," she laughed. "About that..."

**
It was unbearably warm when you woke up. Your eyelids fluttered open just a few centimeters from Junmyeon’s face. His features were fuzzy as your eyes tried to adjust to being active again. At some point in your sleep, you had cuddled up to his side and he’d wrapped an arm around your shoulders. With your head resting on top of a bruise on his shoulder, you were surprised you hadn’t woken him up.
Slowly sitting up, you looked down at his peaceful appearance.
A lock of hair from his bangs had fallen on his forehead sometime in the morning hours. You pushed it back, surprised at the softness against your fingers. The bruises on his face and torso had settled into a deep purple, which was better than the almost black shade they were a few hours ago. According to the digital clock on the nightstand, it was about twenty past two in the afternoon. It hadn’t been quite eight hours of good rest, but you were too alert to try and go back to sleep.
Junmyeon moaned, his mouth turning down to a frown as his sleepy eyes slowly broke open.
“Well, hello there,” you laughed. The way his face scrunched up, wrinkling the skin around his eyes and nose, was so child-like that it contrasted so much with the Junmyeon you knew. Or, at least, thought you knew.
Why couldn’t he look like the mobsters from the documentaries? The kind that were balding, overweight, and wore hideous, flashy clothing. That would be easy to hate and dismiss. Hell, you might have been able to just ignore his injuries and let him suffer. But this face came across as the boy next door; the kind that helped old ladies cross the street and laughed at their friend’s terrible jokes. When he wasn’t frowning or scowling, it was almost angelic.
“Have you been awake long?” he yawned, careful not to move too fast as he sat up.
You shook my head. “No, not at all. How are you feeling?”
“Stiff,” he answered honestly.
Massaging his shoulder with your hand, you could feel how tensed up his muscles had become from laying down so long. You threw the covers off of your legs and started to get out of bed when he caught your wrist.
“Where are you going?” He was practically pouting. What would his men say to a face like that coming from their fearless leader?
“I thought I’d be nice and start a warm bath for you.”
He raised an eyebrow cheekily. “For two?”
You ripped out of his grasp, throwing him a look. “No, for one. It’s to loosen up your muscles.”
“I can think of another way to loosen me up.” It was impossible to miss his implication.
Jumping up, you stared down at him in disbelief. “Did you drink while I was asleep? Is that why you’re acting like this?”
Junmyeon threw his hands up, playing innocent. You were used to Chen and occasionally Baekhyun’s flirty comments, but they never went quite that far.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “I crossed a line.”
You folded your arms, completely confused by this one-eighty turn his personality had taken.
Sure, you’d been concerned about his wellbeing when he came home looking like he’d done a couple rounds of MMA. And, okay, you might have taken a small pleasure in seeing what was hidden underneath his shirts, but you’d kept those thoughts to yourself. One night sleeping next to each other just so you could make sure he didn’t stop breathing and suddenly he’d turned from cold mafia leader to the playful boyfriend.
You leaned down to get a better look at his eyes. They weren’t oddly dilated nor were the corneas turning colors. “Did you hit your head really hard last night? Did Junko rearrange some wires when he was beating on you?”
That wiped the smile off his face and gained you a flick on the forehead.
“Ow!” You rubbed the spot where his nail had stung the skin stung to try and sooth it. How childish.
“I didn’t appreciate that particular reminder,” Junmeyon grumbled. The playful look was gone now. His face was almost back to the part-annoyed, part-neutral expression you were used to. “And I was serious last night – or this morning, whatever – I think we should actually try to be more than just a piece of paper. Who knows, maybe this was fate?”
You rolled your eyes, straightening back up. Fate was not something you believed in. Chance, coincidence, luck; that’s how things happened. “That was a bit fluffy for a crime boss, don’t you think? Besides, you’re skipping a few steps. I’m not sleeping with you. In my opinion, we should start with the ‘friends’ part, huh? Besides, I thought I wasn’t your type?”
He flinched at that. “You’re right, sorry. And I only said that to make you stay at arm’s distance.”
You scoffed. Like would have tried to be any closer than that in the first place. No need to tell him that you had easily looked past him to a certain dimpled doctor. That wasn’t exactly a fight you wanted to have at this point. Nor did you want something bad to happen to Yixing. You didn’t think that Junmyeon would do something to harm him - he often called the boys his family - but you thought better than to take the chance. Besides, there was a more pressing matter to point out.
“And yet, you were the first one to fold.”
“Excuse me?” He stood up and stalked over to you. Damn it, how could he be so imposing? He didn’t have the height like Chanyeol and Sehun, but the way he held himself made him seem eight feet tall. “What do you mean I was folded first? You ran to me when you saw my face like Florence Nightingale.”
“Which I would have done if that was any of you guys, including Xiumin,” you pointed out. Although, you hardly knew his second-in-command. The underboss had hardly said two full sentences to you, but you still would have been concerned if he was hurt. Granted, you never would have asked to stay the night with him. Or any of the others. You think.
Shaking your head, you realized how juvenile the two of you were being. Why did it matter? This wasn’t a card game. And it’s not like you had actual feelings for him at the moment. Some attraction, sure, but so would anyone in their right mind after just one look at him. Well, when his face didn’t look like a Dalmatian. Add in the tiny bits of affection he’d thrown you way since yesterday morning and you were almost doomed.
On top of that, you did care about his wellbeing, not wishing him harm like some might think you should. You didn’t see him as a monster, not anymore. He may have kept you in the penthouse, but he didn’t confide you to a single room or make your life truly miserable. And you would prefer the penthouse to any more “social gatherings” like last night.
Thoughtfully, you spun the ring on your finger. You hadn’t taken it off when getting ready for bed, but now you wondered if maybe that was giving Junmyeon some of his newfound bravery towards you. He’d kept you in mind when picking out the piece of jewelry, meaning he’d somewhat been paying attention. If it was one of those fifteen carat diamonds with a thick band housing smaller jewels like the celebrities often sported, you never would have put it on in a thousand years. If you ever fell in a pool of water with it on, drowning was a huge possibility.
You couldn’t understand it, but you were coming to terms with your situation, possibly even finding a faint silver lining.
“I’ll start your bath that you’ll take by yourself,” you told him. “And I’ll make us something to eat. Are any of the guys coming over today?” Junmyeon shook his head a little too happily. “Okay, then.”
Turning around, you headed into the bathroom. It was hard to not focus on your jealousy when you got a good look at the tub. You hadn’t paid attention to the bathroom when looking for the first aid kit last night, but now you got an eye full.
The walk-in shower had dark, stone-like tile with a waterfall type shower head. The tub was more like a Jacuzzi, with jets and enough room for at least three occupants. You were a little tempted to say screw him and take a bath yourself.
Pushing that idea off for another time for maybe when Junmyeon wasn’t home, you let the water get steaming hot and fill up most of the way before calling that good enough. When you turned around, Junmyeon was out of bed and leaning against the doorframe.
“It’s all ready for you.” Eyes up on his face. Eyes up on his face.
As you passed him to exit the bathroom, he said, “Thank you.”
You nodded in reply and headed for the kitchen.
Food options were getting low, but at least the fridge wasn’t completely empty. There was some beef that was still good and a marinade that Kyungsoo had made that was incredibly delicious so that’s what you went with.
While rice was being prepared in the cooker, you chopped up the beef and stir fried it. The other little side dishes were easy enough to prepare, not taking too much time at all. In just a few minutes, the island was pretty much set and you were just waiting for the meat to finish up when Junmyeon entered the kitchen.
“That smells amazing,” he complimented sincerely.
“Thanks,” you said shyly. “Most of it is actually Kyungsoo’s work, like the sauce, but I guess you could say I did a good job at heating things up. There wasn’t much to work with. Someone will have to go to the store soon.” You wanted to say that you could go to the store, but the chances of that were slim and so you decided to keep the statement vague.
Junmyeon just nodded as he sat down, not mentioning who could be sent for the job. You made him a glass of water and let him get started on eating as you turned off the stove and started to rinse off some of the pans that had cooled.
“Just leave it,” he ordered. “We can clean it up later.”
It was hard to suppress a smile as you sat down across from him. He’d even said “we” like he planned on helping you. Was the job of washing dishes not too lowly for the mafia leader?
As you ate, you peeked up at Junmyeon in short, quick glances. His hair was still wet, giving it a dark sheen that complimented his skin. You were relieved to see him be able to move a little more freely without grimacing in pain every five seconds. It was still hard to make the images of Junmyeon fit together in your head. They were so opposite one another that anyone else might think you were talking about two different people. Or had some sort of Jekyll and Hyde situation on your hands.
The two of you finished lunch and Junmyeon graciously dried the dishes after you’d washed them and then put them away in their proper places. It was hard to keep your mouth shut, your brain oh-so wanting to make a snarky comment about him doing any sort of cleaning, but you kept your mouth shut. Getting along was not going to be easy after developing a sarcastic defense against him.
Once that chore was done, you relocated to the living room, settling on the couch. The two of you were facing each other, chatting on like it was normal.
“So, before all this, how much did you know about your father?” Junmyeon asked cautiously, turning the subject away from Xiumin’s apparent obsession with cleanliness.
You let out a long breath. It was the first time anyone had actually asked about your parents. The boys never brought it up and while you were growing up strangers just assumed it was a sensitive topic.
“To me, he was just your typical corporate lawyer. I only had pictures to go by, the ones that Taegun and Hyunmin had brought back when they went to go get me. He seemed normal, nothing too secretive about him. Just an average, every day father providing for his family.”
“Those are always the ones to look out for,” Junmyeon remarked.
Telling him you would be right back, you ran to your room and took out the photo you’d shoved into the drawer. You didn’t think that you would touch it for a long time – if ever again – but something made you want to show it to Junmyeon. On a whim, you also grabbed the album from the nightstand.
You handed Junmyeon the picture frame as you sat back down, leaning against your elbow on the back cushion.
“Okay,” Junmyeon whistled, examining the subjects in the photo. “I see what you mean. You’re right, very normal.” He chuckled. “You look like your mom. In fact, it’s a little scary.” Holding up the frame to your face, he looked back and forth between you and the photo.
You shoved it down, pursing your lips. “That’s what everyone says when they see pictures of her. Like her little clone.”
“What did she do?”
You shrugged. “She stayed home, as far as I know. She was a political science major but didn’t really do anything with it. My parents married pretty soon after graduating college and then had me. Most of the pictures I have are of just the two of us. She seemed happy, smiling at the camera, but that’s hardly evidence if she really was.” You frowned, thinking of the kind of person she might have been; if you would have gotten along with her had she been the one to raise you. Would you have had more in common than just your faces? “I hope she was.”
Sensing your change in mood, Junmyeon placed his hand on your knee. Even through the blanket thrown across your lap, you could feel its warmth.
“I’m sure she was.” He put the frame down on the coffee table. Smiling a little, his gaze was down on the floor as if he was thinking back to something. “My mother was happy. She loved my father, no matter what trouble he got into.”
“How did all this start?” you asked, curious about the events that led you all here, to this moment. “Did your father build all this?”
Junmyeon shook his head. “No, my grandfather is responsible for all this. Things were hard during the war. People needed protection and something to turn to for hope. My grandfather took advantage of that need, building his empire. Back then it was more about followers and he had several families underneath him. Things shifted when my father took over. That’s when it became more about territory and having control of certain goods and transportation.”
You took in everything he was saying. This life, it wasn’t just about breaking the law and living glamorously. Yes, the money was a big part, but it seemed to center more on control and benefits for the whole, like a company. That’s what all this was, in the end, wasn’t it? Each member had their own role to play, working in sync with the others to make sure the whole machine stayed together. While the ends might not justify the means, you found yourself admiring the system a bit.
“In the end, it wasn’t the constant fight with the other families that took him,” Junmyeon admitted.
You straightened up, surprised at the turn of conversation. “How did he die?”
Junmyeon took your hand in his and started playing with your fingers, perhaps to distract himself. “Heart disease. He didn’t take of himself very well and it all caught up with him. It hit my mother the hardest. She loved my father so much, she’d left her family behind for him.”
Intrigued by this love story, you scooted closer to listen. “How did they meet?”
“My mother’s father was a rising politician,” he kept his eyes down, focused on his distracting task. “They happened to be at a fundraising event that my father was throwing. My maternal grandfather hated being there, but he had to make an appearance since it was a legitimate fundraiser for the orphanages and he needed a good image. Their family came from money and so he needed to connect with the common people in order to get their votes and the people loved my father for the work he put back into the neighborhood. It was an open secret, what my father’s family did, but my mother didn’t care. She took one look at my father and knew she would never love anyone else.”
It was easy enough to picture, the couple meeting and the air turning warm and suddenly everyone else faded away until it was just the two of them standing there with eyes connecting, never to let go again. It was a scenario you’d read a hundred times, but the feelings behind them was something you had never experienced.
“She sounds lucky to have found love so easily.”
Junmyeon scoffed, dropping your hand. “Finding it was easy, keeping it took its toll and had its consequences.”
You bobbed your head in understanding. Love could only take so much and Junmyeon’s mother probably had to fight every day to hold on to her law-breaking husband. “Where is your mother?”
“She has dementia.” He took in a ragged breath, running a hand through his hair. The ends had dried by now, but a few strands stood up from the gesture, making it messy. “It’s still in the early stages, but she has to constantly be watched to make sure nothing happens to her. One time she almost burnt her house down because she forgot the stove was on. Another time, I found her pulled over on the side of the highway because she didn’t know where she was. I placed her in a care facility down in Busan, so she’d be away from the danger here in Seoul.”
Your heart was breaking for him. He loved her so much. It was evident all over his face and the way his shoulders slumped, thinking about how he had to send her away. You could almost imagine little Junmyeon clinging to his mother on his first day of school or playfully swatting her hand away when she tried to fix his hair. That kind of sight was something you wanted to witness. The beautiful bond between this man in front of you and his mother, who sounded like a saint or an angel.
“Do you think–” you stopped. Perhaps it would have been too bold of you to ask. “Never mind.” Playing with the hem of the blanket, you kept your eyes down. You feared that he might get mad at your request or think you were overstepping. Granted, he overstepped first this morning, but there was difference between his obnoxious flirting and this.
He groaned. “I hate it when you do that. Can’t you just tell me what’s on your mind without me having to prod it out of you?” He even tapped on your forehead for emphasis.
You still couldn’t bring yourself to ask it.
Huffing, Junmyeon pulled your hand away from the blanket that you were fidgeting with and tilted your chin up. “(Y/n).”
“Fine,” you pouted. “I was going to ask if I could go with you, next time you visit her. I’d like to meet her.” Whatever reaction you were expecting, you weren’t ready for what you received.
It made Junmyeon shine. His smile grew so big it turned into an eye smile you’d never seen from him before. He’d moved with speed you wouldn’t think he was capable of in his current condition as he practically leapt you and pulled you into his chest, resting his chin on your shoulder. Just as you were about to lift your arms and return the hug, he pulled away.
“I would want nothing more,” he said quietly, his brown eyes boring into yours. “And I know she would love to meet you too.” Leaving you stunned, he sat back, a relaxed expression on his face as he continued to stare at you.
You shifted, suddenly uncomfortable with his unwavering attention. “What?”
“Where did you come from?” he sounded fascinated, like you were an alien that was floating down from the sky.
You scrunched your eyebrows. “Um, I think we’ve already had this conversation.”
He shook his head, letting out a small laugh. Settling his eyes on the album you’d put on the coffee table, he picked it up and started leafing through it.
“You have a lot of places you want to go,” he acknowledged.
Sucking in your lips, you cleared your throat. “Yeah. I’ve always wanted to travel. I think being an outsider my whole life, I’ve just wanted to find somewhere that I could maybe call home.” You stopped the page flipping when he came to the pictures of France’s countryside. Pointing to the word scribbled at the top, you explained, “I fell in love with that word as soon as I heard it. I think it was in a movie or something. It’s French. Dépaysement. It basically means homesickness, but it’s deeper than that. Like, disorientation. A longing for your home country. Except, I’m not sure where that is. I feel like it should be the same as my parents, but I’m not confident that it is. So, I want to find it.”
Junmyeon caressed the pictures that held the green hills and fast forests of a country far away. In complete seriousness, he looked up at you and stated, “I’ll take you someday.”
Your jaw dropped. When Chanyeol had told you that Junmyeon liked to travel and he might take you along, you hadn’t really believed him that Junmyeon would take a risk like that. That would have taken some effort on Junmyeon’s part to put some interest in you as a human being. But now, with the way he said it and the look of genuine care in his eyes, you could actually hope. And not even the thought of sharing a hotel room put you off.
“We’ll start with America.”
Then you deflated.
Of course.
“Right,” You collapsed back into the couch. “So, I can get the files.”
Junmyeon scrambled up so he was leaning in and grasped your hands, realizing what you’d concluded. “No, that’s not what I meant. We can put that off. Once I can get things settled here in the next few months and your birthday comes around, we can take a nice honeymoon to California or Washington. We won’t touch New York until you want to.”
You didn’t believe him. You didn’t believe that three short weeks, or even less than twenty-four hours had changed his mind about the importance of those files. Not to mention, he still planned the wedding for around your birthday, the biggest piece of the puzzle. He’d worked too hard, planned too much to just let them fall to an afterthought. The only reason he even brought you here in the first place was for the secrets those papers held. You weren’t that special to make him forget it all.
Because you would avoid New York for the rest of your life. You would put it off every time he asked, every time it was brought up in a conversation. If it was truly up to you, you would leave that safe deposit box to rot.
But you let him think that you took him at his word, giving him a small smile. He patted your head, returning the smile. One step forward and two steps back.

EXO Reactions
~ Stay with Me ~
Tumblr media
Minseok (Xiumin)
Tumblr media
He stares out his window, eyes chasing the small figures that ran in and out of the building. A raindrop trails down the glass and falls into the depth of air that lurked below the windowsill. Minseok sighs, thoughts that perhaps this relationship was taking a toll for the worst resurfaced in his mind.
You were out much later than usual, for longer than usual, with people who you usually never hung out around. But this unusual behaviour of yours became so repetitive that it almost became... usual. The front door clicks open, you shuffle inside, remving your raincoat and quickly closing the door behind you.
You hoped he would understand that it wasn’t a choice, you weren’t choosing your work over him at all. You walk into the kitchen, finding Minseok seated on the dining table with his head resting on it. ‘He fell asleep waiting for me.’ As soon as you came near, he lifts his head, eyes glimmering in peace that you were finally home.
Minseok stands, hand instantly moving to cup around your cheek. “You’ve been working for too long, Y/N-ah. You need to relax, let your body rest. Let me take care of you, stay with me.”
Junmyeon (Suho)
Tumblr media
Junmyeon presses a hand against your forehead, his own creases with worry when he notices just how heated you are. “You have a fever, Y/N-ah. What did we say about working over time?” You huff, crossing your arms as if you held any sort of reasonable protest. He sighs and pulls the blanket further up till it tucked right below your chin.
“I’m going to get a hot towel, don’t you dare move, Missy.” Junmyeon was rather homely, though many would never see this side of him. Outdoors, he was formal. With his friends, he was casual. But with you, he was all things honey and gold. Junmyeon rushes back into your bedroom, a bowl of warm water in one hand and a clean towel in the other.
He sits on the seat next to your bed, eyes suddenly glinting from the spotlight of the lamp next to him. His nimble fingers carefully place the dampened towel onto your forehead, “You make me worry...” he mumbles, licking his lips once, “I want you to be healthy.”
You nod your head, an apologetic smile tugging at your lips. Junmyeon wasn’t always this soft, seeing this side of him brought a strange tingle of warmth to your heart. Perhaps you should fall ill move often. “And until I can see that you’re better, you will not be going to work. Just, stay with me.”
Yixing (Lay)
Tumblr media
The doorbell rings, Yixing jumps to his feet, eyes shining as if emitting all the rays of the sun. He opens the door, only to be greeted with a fairly tired and sleepy looking Y/N. “Babe...” he mumbles while you step inside wordlessly and put your shoes away. “Honey, I made us some breakfast.”
You nod your head, giving him a brief thumbs up before rushing into the bathroom. Yixing knows how hard it is to work night shifts, spending the whole time staying awake. Sometimes you weren’t even given a break and it irked him on how dangerous it was for your health.
He jogs to the kitchen, and starts plating the French toasts he made, and waited at the dining table for you. Though almost twenty-five minutes later, he wondered if you were just taking an extremely stretched bath or if something had happened. Yixing rushes to his feet, upon reaching the bathroom door, he knocks thrice.
“Y/N, you okay honey?” Nothing. The bedroom door was slightly open, so he shuffles inside, only to find your body curled on top of the bed. Yixing smiles, and seats himself next to you. He notices your under eye bags, hollow cheeks, he sighs, “I’m not going to let you work night shifts again, you’ll stay with me.”
Baekhyun
Tumblr media
Morning light sneaks into your bedroom, passing through your drawn curtains and landing gently on your husband’s face. Baekhyun turns on his side, closed eyes suddenly moving. He stretches out his hand, trying to find the curve of your waist so he could pull you closer. Though after a minute of waving his hand around, he opens his eyes, only to realise that you weren’t home yet.
“Aish, what time is it?” Baekhyun sits up and just as he does, the front door opens. A soft smile pulls at his lips. You open your umbrella and place it on the balcony, allowing the rain water to trickle away. Moments later, a pair of warm arms wrap easily around your waist, “Y/N-ah.” Baekhyun’s breath scans your cheek as he mumbles, perhaps he was still sleepy.
You chuckle and try to turn around, but he doesn’t let go. And just like that, steady in his arms, he lifts your feet off the ground and carries you inside. “Baek” you whine playfully, and he wrigggles his eyebrows to tease you. “Sit here,” He places you on the couch and jogs into the kitchen.
After a minute or so, he reappears with two mugs of hot chocolate and toast, “I added extra marshmallows for you.” Taking a sip, he shows you his chocolate moustache and you felt your heart swell with the sugar overdose. “See how fun I am?” You nod in agreement, “Don’t work too much, stay with me.”
Jongdae (Chen)
Tumblr media
“I’ll be okay, Dae.” He mumbles, mimicking your voice from yesterday evening. “It’s only one more night shift.” He copies, reciting your words while lying on bed and pretending to twirl his hair in his fingers like you would. He sits up suddenly, ‘She just never listens does she?’ Jongdae has been worried.
After noticing how dark your under eye bags have gotten and even how much weight you have lost, it stressed him. Knowing you were awake all night meant that he couldn’t fall asleep either. What time was it now? 6am? He reaches to grab his phone from his bedside table, it was 8am. You’d be home soon.
So he stands and runs into the kitchen, although he wasn’t much of a chef, he thought he could prepare something... anything, so that you wouldn’t have to. “I think this looks right?” Jongdae wonders to himself as he glances down at his plate, your plate, filled with a failed attempt of cooked eggs and pancakes.
So when the front door brushed open, he mentally cursed himself and planned on ordering something instead. “Hey babe.” You smile, allowing your purse to drop from your shoulder. He walks over and rubs his hands along your shoulders and back, giving you a quick massage. “I-erm, I tried making breakfast. But you don’t have to eat it... we’ll order something. For this week, eat, sleep and stay with me.”
Chanyeol
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since Chanyeol last saw you, and he missed everything. He missed seeing your bed hair in the mornings, he missed hearing your bathroom singing, he missed watching your soft smile. It was hard since you worked night shifts, while he worked days. Chanyeol would see you arrive home and crash into your bed, only to wake up a couple of hours before you had to leave again.
He groans, wondering if there was any way he could convince you to stop working altogether. There was honestly no need for the both of you to work, he made more than enough money on his own. A light bulb flickers over Chanyeol’s head, an idea flashing into mind.
It was around four more hours till you needed to wake up, so Chanyeol decided it was best if you simply didn’t wake up on time. After sneaking into your shared bedroom, he finds your alarm clock. Twisting the keys carefully, he manages to set your alarm clock behind by four hours, meaning you’d never wake up on time.
“Mr Park Chanyeol, may I know what you are doing?” Chanyeol squeezes his eyes shut, praying that you were still somewhat sleepy, “I was just checking the time.” He lies, flashing his teeth to fake a smile. You narrow your eyes at him, a smirk threatening to tug at your lips. He lets out an exasperated sigh, “Fine, I was tampering with your alarm clock. I just don’t want you to leave. Please Y/N, stay with me.”
Kyungsoo (D.O)
Tumblr media
Kyungsoo walks into your bedroom and places a tray on your bedside table. Gently, he brushes away hair from the perimeter of your face, “Ah, there she is. Good morning sunshine.” You lips curl upwards, there was nothing more beautiful than seeing Kyungsoo’s soft smile first thing in the morning.
He walks over to the window, drawing the curtains to one side till the light bounced off his wavy hair. “You have a fever, you know.” You humm, eyes wondering over to the tray next to you. Coffee, croissants and chocolate. “I can’t believe how much you over work yourself, Y/N.” Ah, serious Kyungsoo was in mode now.
You nod obediently while he reached to take a croissant, he tears off a piece and presses it to your lips, “You shouldn’t be working so much.” You open your mouth, allowing the soft delicacy to blend inside. He watches you, a warm smile growing on his face, but then he looks to the ground, “I called in to your hospital, you’re not going to work tomorrow.”
Kyungsoo checks his phone immediately, using it as a distraction from your shocked face, “But Soo I-“ He sighs deeply, hand raising to cup around your cheek, doe eyes suddenly numb with worry. “You are not going anywhere until you feel better. And even when you are, you will not be over working yourself. I’ll make sure you feel better, so stay with me.”
Jongin (Kai)
Tumblr media
You used to be able to do this, although recently it was starting to feel a whole lot more difficult. Jongin nudges you and you jolt in your seat, “Y/N, you’re missing the best part!” You blink your eyes rapidly while Jongin continues stuffing popcorn into his mouth. He glances at you through his peripheral vision every now and then.
Jongin wasn’t dumb, he knew you were falling asleep because you were tired. He understood it wasn’t on purpose. And he was aware that you worked during the night so that in the day, you could focus on your art. That is why he made you come on so many dates with him, so that he could bore you and you’d finally allow your body the rest of deserves.
He pulls the blanket further up your body, placing a cushion on the other side of your head in case you turned your neck. Jongin found it adorable, the way your nose would scrunch as you exhaled a soft snore. He gives it a little bop, chuckling quietly to himself when you snored a little too loudly.
You were mumbling in your sleep, something to do with sweets. Jongin switches off the tv, and rests his head back on the couch till he could count every lash on your eyes. “I want to always be with you like this,” he mumbles, tucking your hair behind your ear, “I’ll take care of you day and night. Stay with me.”
Sehun
Tumblr media
“You work during the night?” You nod your head and Sehun parts his lips, as if wanting to ask another question, but his voice dies in the air and you both sit in an agreed silence. A couple of minutes later, he pipes up again, “Have you every fallen asleep during work?” You laugh, telling him about the time you found a YouTube video of typing sounds and played it out loud so your boss thought you were working, when really you were sleeping.
It was slightly windy, the moon was being pushed into a sea of stars, air slightly cooler than usual. You end up at your front door, moonlight trickling across Sehun’s features. “Thanks for the date.” You say, tiptoeing to place a soft kiss on his cheek. His ears redden and you laugh teasingly, as you are about to enter, he asks you a question, so softly that if it wasn’t so close you might have mistaken it for the wind.
“Are you working tonight?” You shake your head, his eyebrows lower in relief. “Good, I don’t want you to work too hard.” He ruffles your hair, and you find yourself asking him if he wanted to come inside. Minutes later, you found yourselves seated on your couch, cups of hot chocolate and a Sherlock Holmes episode playing.
“Y/N,” You glance to your side, a rather warm looking Sehun glances back, “is there any way you can stop working night shifts?” You swallow the last of your drink, “Yeah, why?” Sehun scoots a little closer, enough to leave a sensible gap, but enough so you could smell the chocolate in his breath, “Because I don’t want my girlfriend to be working when all I want is for her to stay with me.”
A/N: Please take care of yourselves my angels, I want you all to be eating and sleeping well! ❤️

Chapter 6
Chaeseon and Chaeyeong come running into your room jumping onto your bed. “Wake up mommy!” Chaeyeong yells jumping up and down Chaeseon sits there watching her then looks over at you. You groan turning over and you rub your eyes yawning.
“What are you two doing?” You ask grabbing your phone checking the time. They laugh watching you and you slowly sit up stretching. Chaeyeong drops down next to you smiling and you hug her smiling.
“We get to go to work with you.” Chaeseon says sitting on your lap pushing your hair back. “So we got up early and got dress.” You look down at their outfit smiling looking back at them. They both wore the same outfit.
“When will you girls learn I will always tell you apart.”
“We know that mommy we just like messing with other people.” Chaeseon says crawling off your lap sitting next to Chaeyeong. You shake your head tossing the covers to the side getting out of bed.
You walk over to your closet grabbing your black jeans and your white sweater. “Why do you like messing with people?” You say as you get changed throwing you dirty clothes in the hamper.
“Because its funny watching their faces.” Chaeyeong says putting her arms around Chaeseon and they both look at you smiling.
“Troublemakers alright thing one and two go eat while I wash my face.” You look at them pointing to the door. They both giggle jumping off your bed and they run down to the kitchen.
You get your bag ready putting your laptop, charges and cameras in it before zipping it up. You skip off to the bathroom to brush your teeth and wash your face. “I need to put a spell on the building when I get there.”
You say speaking to yourself as you walk out the bathroom. You walk downstairs going to the kitchen grabbing a quick bite to eat before grabbing the keys. “Alright let’s go girls.”
They turn the TV off and walk over to the door and you hand them their jackets and hats. “Okay go.” You open the door and they run over to the car as you unlock it.
“Can we stop and get hot chocolate mommy?” Chaeseon asks looking at you as you start the car and back out the driveway. You look down at her nodding your head. “Yay hot chocolate!”
You turn on the radio as you drive down the street looking out the window sitting back. “Will you take pictures of us today mommy?” Chaeyeong asks looking out the window looking at the snow.
“Do you want me to take pictures of you?”
“Yes.” She says looking over at you smiling and you nod. “Oh are we going to aunt Jungah café?” She asks trying to look over the seat and you nod pulling into the parking lot parking the car turning it off.
You get out the car and they both climb out grabbing your hand. “Can I get extra whip cream please?” Chaeseon asks looking up at you as you all walking into the café.
You look at her then back up seeing Jungah and bow saying hello. The girls smile letting your hands go and running over to her. “Girls what did I say?” You watch them and they both stop looking back at you.
They stand up straight and bow to Jungah saying hello. “Its okay y/n, hey girls where are you of to today?” She says walking from behind the counter heading towards them.
“We don’t have school so we get to go with mommy today to her job?” Chaeyeong says hugging her and she hugs them back. You walk up to the counter and order the drinks and cookies.
“Really you get to spend the whole day with mommy?” She says and they both nod sitting at the table waiting. Jungah looks over at you with a smirk and you just shake your head watching her.
“Yeah and she’s going to take our picture today.” Chaeseon says swinging her legs as she sits there. “Mommy takes really good pictures.” She says nodding her head and you look down hearing your phone go off.
“Ugh why won’t they leave me alone?” You groan looking out the windows sighing. “Girls stay there got it?” You say and they nod watching you walk off and Jungah laughs.
“Maybe if you tell them.”
“No and hello how may I help you.” You says walking outside answering your phone. “Yes I know that is that all you wanted Sehun?”
“Come on you should be happy to see me y/n, I’m the only one who didn’t follow you around yesterday.” He laughs hearing you groan and he smirks. “Oh just a heads up Xiumin hyung and Suho hyung will be coming.”
“Fine I don’t care but they might not live if they come with you.” You smile evilly closing your eyes. Sehun just hums agreeing with you and you smirk. “Right now I’m getting my drink but I’ll be there before you anyways.”
“Fine with me I might stay longer than them so I’ll order some take out.” He says and you hum nodding your head. “Look I believe you about having a reason to leave; and I’m sure all this stuff happening was caused when he took the ring but I’m on your side okay.”
“Thank you Sehun I’ll talk to you when you get to the office.” You say and he hums saying a quick bye. You end the call and quickly walk back inside looking at the girls.
“Who was that?” Jungah asks looking back at you and you reach over grabbing your drink off the table. You take a sip smiling as the warm liquid runs down your throat.
“Sehun he has a photo shoot again he only asks for me no one else.” You say looking down at your drink moving your hair back. “Okay girls who wants to meet some of daddy friends today?”
“When will we meet daddy?” Chaeyeong asks sliding off her chair grabbing her drink. Jungah grabs her hand and you grab Chaeseon hand walking outside.
“Soon I promise Yeong but for now we will meet my uh his I mean our friends okay.” You nod helping them into the car and Jungah closes the door looking at you. “Please don’t give me that look.”
“They need to meet him enough games y/n.” She says folding her arms looking at you. You sigh looking away biting your lower lip before looking at her.
“I know but not with what’s going on but trust me they will meet soon and not the way I want to meet him.” You speak taking a sip of your drink again. You turn to get into the car bit she grabs your arm stopping you.
“What do you mean?”
“Well you know about Yeong dreams she been having this one dream and it hasn’t happened yet so when it does just promise me that you’ll watch after them when they are with him.”
“I don’t like the sound of that but I won’t push you so I promise I’ll watch after them okay.” She nods letting you go and you smile nodding your head then get into the car. “Bye have fun guys.”
You start the car then pull out the parking heading down the street. Once you arrive at work you grab your stuff and walk inside with the girls. “Morning everyone.”
They all look at you and bow the girls look around then spot Min smiling. “Hey girls what are you doing here?” She says walking over to them and they smile bowing to her.
“Watch them for a second girls stay with Min okay.” You say heading to your office with your bags. You quickly walk in and put your stuff down on your desk and look around the empty space.
Your office was bigger than most executive offices. “First thing first putting the spell on this place.” You say pulling your spell book out placing it on the table. “Now which one is it?” You turn through the pages humming to yourself.
You stop looking at the vampire spell humming as you tilt your head. “If I reword this it could work.” You hold your hand out then make a small circle with it creating a blue and black ring of light.
You put the book down and hold both hands in the middle of the ring. The glow getting bigger as you say the spell. You close your eyes then open them pushing the ring out and it expands with a bust of wind.
“Well that’s one thing now to put a let more stuff in this office.” You turn on your heels grabbing the small toy tree off your desk smiling holding it in your hand. You close your eyes picturing the right corner of the room.
You take a deep breath and release it blowing on the tree and it goes flying with green dust over into the corner. You smile watching toy turn into a real tree and the empty space turn into a Christmas wonderland.
“Fireplace!” You says snapping your fingers and watch as the wall transforms. You wave you hand over to another corner and point your finger and a couch appears. “What else is it missing?”
You snap your fingers and spin around holding your hands above your head as you spin. You bring your arms down slowly and the whole office transforms. You stop watching the table, chairs, books, and sound system appear.
“That should do for now.” You smile looking around the room before putting your stuff up. You quickly walk over to the door opening it. Min and the girls look over as you walk out. “Okay come on I don’t have anything right now so before I start on you two I need to work on my computer.”
Chaeseon and Chaeyeong both get up and run over. “Min oh could you go downstairs to the café and get some cookies for them along with two bowls of fruit.”
“Yes ma’am right away.” She bow then head off down to the office café. You walk back into your office closing the door. You see the girls playing with the toys and laugh.
“Who said those were for you two?” You say walking over to your desk sitting down. They both laugh and keep playing and you just shake your head getting to work.
Min walks back in but stops seeing the office. “What is all this ma’am?” She asks and you look up hearing her. Chaeyeong and Chaeseon look over seeing the cookies and fruit. They get up running over to Min taking the bowls and plate.
“Eat your fruit first girls.” You say and they both say yes sitting back at the table coloring. “This is my office Min you know this.” You look back at your computer pushing your glasses up on your nose.
Min points around the room confuse and you just laugh shaking your head. “All I did was open the blinds so it won’t be dark Min everything else is the same.” Min shake her head walking out the room.
After an hour of sitting at the desk you get up stretching your arms and legs. “Come on girls let’s go take some pictures.” You say looking over at them and they both jump up running towards the door.
“Yay picture time!” Chaeyeong squeals as she jumps up and down. “Can we take Christmas pictures?” She asks skipping down the hall next to you and you hum looking around the office.
“Come on Seon keep up.” You say feeling her stop and you turn looking back at her. “What’s wrong Seon?” You ask stopping and she looks around and you follow her eyes trying to see what she see.
Chaeyeong stops in front of the door reaching grabbing the handle pushing the door open and she runs inside. “Something doesn’t feel right mama.” She speaks running over to you grabbing your arm.
“Mm you feel it too that’s good.” You smile leaning down picking her up and walking into the room. “But we’re safe in this building it protected by a strong magic.”
Min walks up behind you with a few others and they start to get to work. You walk over to Chaeyeong watching look at the outfits and you put Chaeseon down helping them pick out their clothes.
“Do you want to wear this?” You ask holding up the dress and Chaeseon jumps up grabbing it. She runs off to get change and Chaeyeong pouts looking at you and you smile tilting your head. “Did you want that one too?”
You ask her and she nods looking down at the floor causing you to laugh. “Well maybe there’s another one Yeong.” You say reaching over grabbing the other dress. Chaeyeong looks up seeing the dress and she jumps up and hugs you.
“Yay.” She run off following her sister to get changed. You walk around the room helping set everything up. “Min I’ll be in here up until it’s time for my first appointment comes.”
“Okay y/n ma’am and what would you like to order for lunch today?” Min asks placing your slippers on the floor next to the table. You lean against the table taking your shoes off putting them under the table.
“I don’t know just yet I’ll tell you later.” You grab your camera walking over to the set. You look over taking a few sample shots checking the flash and lighting. Min adjust the lights.
“Okay mommy we’re ready.” They both run over and you turn looking at them smiling. You point over to the set and they walk over jumping over the wires.
“Where did the snow come from?” Min asks and you look at her shrugging and she sighs shaking her head. “I wish you would stop that.” She say standing behind you watching you work.
“Stop what exactly Min I don’t know what you are talking about.” You smiles as you take pictures of you girls. Min folds her arms watching you and you just laugh. “One day Min you’ll figure it out.”
You spend the next hour working with girls helping them change and doing their hair for the pictures. “Okay just jump on the bed for a bit.” You say looking at them through the view finder on the camera.
They nod and start jumping up and down and you start snapping away. “You look over at the computer checking the photos. “Nope I need to switch cameras and change the setting so the shutter speed is faster.”
Min walks over looking at the table looking for the right camera. “Alright this one should work.” She hands you the camera and you switch hands giving her the other one.
You check the shutter speed making a few adjustment to the camera. “Thank you.” You hold the camera up looking through the view finder again. You bite you lip as you press down on the shutter button.
You turn looking at the screen smiling. “Ah much better.” You nod then walk closer taking your slippers off as you start snapping away. After a few more minutes you give them pillows and they start hitting each other.
“Is that such a wise thing y/n?” Min asks watching you tilting her head and you nod. “Hey I don’t have to clean it up so I’m good.” You smirk shaking your head hearing her.
You watch as the pillows bust and feathers fly everywhere. The girls scream as they fall back onto the bed laughing. You walk closer stepping on to the bed and they look up at you smiling.
Chaeseon grabs a hand full of the feathers throwing them up and you move out the way as you take their picture. They both pose doing the v sign as they smile. “Alright guys that’s it we are done.”
You step off the bed shaking the pillow feathers out of your hair. “Come on Yeong let’s go get changed now.” Chaeseon says sliding off the bed and Chaeyeong follows right behind her.
“When you two are done go with Min down to the café and get some food.” You say walking over putting your camera down on the table with the others. “Once they finish Min take them to my office and keep them there.”
“Yes ma’am alright girls come on.” Min says holding out her hands to them and they run over grabbing her hand following her out the room. You watch as everyone else leaves and you snap your fingers pointing to the mess and watch everything reverse cleaning itself up.
You head back down to the lobby once everything was clean. “And he’s late again, where is he?” You check the time on your phone when you feel an arm wrap around you.
“Miss me y/n?” Sehun says smiling down at you.
“You’re late you dork.” You tilt your head back looking at him and he smirks shaking his head. “Okay lets go I wanna finish this so I can eat.”
“Well hello to you too y/n.” Sehun says following behind you and you stop looking back at him. “Right so you’ll be using us today as models.” He says just as Xiumin and Suho walk in.
“You put a entering spell on here didn’t you?” Xiumin speaks folding his arms watching you and you nod looking back at the door and you freeze seeing Kai stand there. “Let him in now.”
“No now hurry up I have work to do.” You start to walk off again heading back upstairs. Suho grabs your arm stopping you and you look back at him.
“Tell us why you left and tell us what’s going on.” He demand gripping your arm and you growl twisting your arm breaking free and you grab him by the shirt slamming him into the wall.
“You must forget I’m stronger than you.” You growl looking up at him and he grips your wrist watching you. “Don’t push me Suho.” Your eyes turn red and Sehun pulls you back covering your eyes.
“Calm down y/n and relax.” Sehun whisper in your ear and you growl closing your eyes and he smiles resting his chin on your shoulder. “I know you told me you would kill them but I need them for the shoot so could you please wait.”
Sehun looks over at Suho who just stands there watching him. You slowly release Suho reaching up grabbing Sehun hand pulling it down off your eyes. “Good girl.”
Sehun smiles stepping back then starts walking back upstairs. “You are so lucky he’s here.” You turn walking behind Sehun and he opens the door walking inside. Xiumin looks at Suho shaking his head walking after you.
“I think we really messed up yesterday.” Xiumin says pushing the door open walking into the room. You walk around getting everything ready and Sehun pulls his shirt over his head walking back to the dressing area getting ready.
“Move it you two now.” You push them over to the dressing rooms. They grunt being push and they look back at you before looking at each other. “I swear after this is over I’m leaving again I can’t do this.” You rub your temples as you close your eyes.
“No you aren’t you’re staying and that’s final.” Sehun says walking back over after getting his makeup and hair done. You groan shaking your head and he laughs putting his arm around you. “But I’m not the one who’s making you stay he is.”
“Why would he want me to stay he hates me.” You say turning around looking up at Sehun. He just shakes his head stepping back. “What do you mean no?” You say folding your arms.
“After you left he spent his time wondering what happen and maybe that you were right.” Sehun speaks putting his hands on his hips leaning to the side.
“I was right.”
Sehun reaches up and flicks your nose and you pout. “Then he searched for you but obviously couldn’t find you; then he changed without you he separated himself and blamed himself for you leaving.” Sehun walks over to the set getting ready.
“Eventually it drove him mad with sadness and anger that he became angry at you; but you already knew he had a short temper you also have a short temper.” Sehun starts posing and you just takes his picture listening to him while he talks.
“So will you at least tell me why you left?” He asks looking directly at you as you look at him through the camera. You slowly bring the camera down sighing as you look at him then down at the floor.
Xiumin and Suho walk over standing next to Sehun and you open your eyes gripping the camera. “Yeah I’ll tell you after we are done I’ll tell you the reason I left.” You bring the camera back up snapping more pictures.
Sehun smirks looking at you and you bite your lip watching them as they pose. “Wanna tell me how he got you two to do this?” You say walking around with each snap of the camera goes off.
“He said he would pay us plus take us out to eat if we modeled for him.” Xiumin says standing there and you just nod. “If I don’t get paid I will hurt you Sehun.”
“Hyung don’t worry you will get paid promise.” Sehun says sitting and the side looking at the computer screen.  “Spray more water he should look like he just got done working out.”
Sehun looks over as they start recording and I just stand there watching. “Hold on.” You say stopping them then walk over to Suho pulling down on his pants and he tries to stop you but you pinch him.
“Ow that hurt!”
You pull the boxers up so the name can be seen and pull his pants down at bit to get a better view. “Alright now get back to working out pull ups now.” You say pointing to the bar behind him.
The stylist fixes their makeup and hair before walking off standing on the side. “Okay action!” You yell and the music starts again and Xiumin and Suho start working out again.
Sehun smirks watching them and he gets up getting ready putting the towel around his neck. The stylist wets his face body and hair a little before he walks onto the set.
The camera crew follows his movements zooming into the underwear then back out spinning around getting all three of them. You nod watching the screen humming to the music.
“Alright cut that should be good thank you.” You stop filming standing back up. You grab your phone looking at the time. “Thank you again everyone.” You say putting your phone in your pocket.
“Come on I’m hungry now.” Sehun says pulling on your arm and you gasp as he pulls you out the door. You try and stop him trying to get free. “Stop pulling back.”
“I will once you put your shirt back on and we have to wait on the other two.” You pull free rubbing your arm looking at the floor. Suho walks up behind you throwing Sehun his shirt.
“Thanks.” Sehun smiles putting his shirt over his head pulling it down. You look over seeing Xiumin walk out the room catching up with y’all. “Okay lets go to your office.”
Sehun keeps walking and you just stand there. “Uh it’s this way you dork.” You say turning around and head upstairs to your office. Once you get there you stop turning around.
“Wait….so um….you said you wanted to know why I left right?” You speak slowly looking down at the floor.
“Yes we do.”
“If I tell you then you can’t tell Kai only I can tell him it wouldn’t be right if you boys told him.” You go on and they look at you confuse and you look back at them sighing. “Well my reason for leaving is well it was for two reasons I left.”
You turn back around as you twist the door know pushing the doors open walking into the room. Chaeseon and Chaeyeong look up from their drawings and you walk over to them.
The boys walk into your office and stop seeing them. “Meet Chaeseon and Chaeyeong my kids.” You speak slowly looking back at them and Suho gasp covering his mouth.
“I’m still hungry mommy.” Chaeseon says looking up at you and you look down at her ruffling her hair. “Can we order take out please?” You nod then look back at the boys trying to read their face.
“When….how….why….” Suho looks at you and you look away chewing the inside of your lip looking down at the floor.
“Well hyung you should know how as far as when and why.” Sehun says walking over to the table where the girls sit crouching down looking at them. Xiumin also walks over looking at them.
“Oh my god they look just like him.” Xiumin says sitting down next to Chaeyeong and she moves closer to you and you smile kneeling down next to her.
“Its okay Yeong he’s nice these are the people I told you both about.” You move her hair back out her face. “This is Xiumin.” She buries her face in your neck and you sigh picking her up as you stand back up.
“This is the reason I left I was two months pregnant and he wasn’t listening to me about staying low.” You look over at Suho rubbing Chaeyeong back. “Everything started to calm down and he got so hot headed he wouldn’t listen and just went looking for trouble.”
Sehun looks over Chaeseon shoulder watching her draw. “That’s really good what are you drawing there?” He pointing to the paper and she covers it with her hand looking back at him her left eye changing colors. “Ah she’s is like you.”
Sehun says pointing to her then you moving back. “Chaeyeong saw this so I draw it.” Chaeseon says and you look at Chaeyeong seeing her eyes seeing the faded green in them. “Who are you?”
“What does she mean?”
You walk over moving Chaeseon hand looking at the drawings. “Seon when did this happen?” You tilt your head looking at her then put Chaeyeong down. “I’m sorry Yeong but I have to do this….lunar aurora dust.”
You quickly speak holding your hand up then blow sleep dust in Chaeyeong face and she falls back but you catch her. “What just happen?” Xiumin asks looking at you then Chaeyeong.
“Yeong doesn’t know about her powers or mine or mommy’s.” Chaeseon speaks as she keeps coloring. You place Chaeyeong on the couch placing a blanket on her.
“Okay Chaeseon this is Sehun, Xiumin and Suho.” You point to them and she looks at each one of them. They look at her smiling and she waves to them.
“So wait she doesn’t know about her powers then how did she see something?” Xiumin asks standing up and Suho walks over folding his arms. “What is going on y/n?”
“I bind their powers with the necklaces; usually she won’t see stuff unless she’s sleep, I was worried her powers would get to strong and she doesn’t know cause you saw how she just acted when Xiumin sat next to her.”
“So back to the big picture these are his girls?” Suho says speaking slowly and you nod watching him. “And he doesn’t know and that is the really reason you left?”
“Yes and yes and yes.” You say standing there watching him and he sighs rubbing his face. “Look I didn’t know what to do he wouldn’t listen and to be quite honest I didn’t know I was pregnant until the day I left.”
“So you were planning to leave anyways?” Sehun asks standing back up putting his hands on his hips. You bite your lip looking away and he shakes his head.
“Okay yes but I wasn’t on planning on staying, my plan was to leave hide the beacon and come back but after finding out I was pregnant I decided to just leave for good.”
“But you didn’t hide the beacon did you?” Sehun asks look at you and you step back looking over at the wall. “Where’s the beacon y/n?”
“Safe.”
“Um guys is that Kai and his sister?” Xiumin says looking down at Chaeseon drawing and you all look down at the picture tilting your heads. Chaeseon look over at her sister then back at you. “What time is it?”
Chaeseon smirks as she looks at her drawing opening her mouth to speak.
“Now.” You jump hearing an explosion go off then hear screaming. Chaeseon looks over at her cup of milk seeing it shakes as the room starts shaking.
Suho and Sehun both try and catch their balance. Xiumin turn his head looking at Chaeseon then back at you. You turn and look out the window seeing the smoke. “I’ll stay here and watch Yeong be careful mommy.”
“Right smart girl if Min ask went for a walk.” You say looking at her and she nods smiling at you. “Well if you excuse me I have an idiot to save.” You look at the boys before flashing out the room.
“Man I was hoping she wouldn’t go and I can just order food and we would talk.” Sehun pouts looking around the room. “Why must she always be a good person?”
“Shut up and let’s go now.” Suho says pushing him out the room and they run outside. Suho holds his hand out creating a wave looking up at the sky seeing clouds cover the sun. “Well Baekhyun is there we should hurry.”
Xiumin and Sehun look around seeing people run off screaming in the opposite direction. Suho steps onto the wave of water then look at Xiumin. “Something must have shifted in the other realm.”
Xiumin watches as Suho leans forward riding the wave ahead of them and he steps on the end and it starts to turn to ice. “Hurry up wind boy.” Xiumin looks at Sehun as he follows behind Suho leaving a ice trail behind him.
Sehun scoffs shaking his head as he lifts his hand making a circle motion and the wind starts to pick up circling his body lifting him off the ground. You appear behind Jungah kneeling down out of sight.
“Wanna tell me what’s going on?” You say and she screams then looks back you. “Relax it’s just me.” You look up seeing Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Kai fighting. “Fuck how are they controlling the grimm?”
“I was going to asks you that.” Jungah says looking around the counter seeing Suho, Xiumin and Sehun arrive. “I’m guessing the photo shoot was over.” She smiles looking at you and you just sigh.
“I’ll tell you about it later but her power is getting stronger she saw this happen while I was busy.” You cover your head as part of the roof caves in. “We walked in on Seon drawing it and we’ll yeah now we’re here.”
Jungah nods looking at you and you scream just as Chanyeol and Kai smash through the counter and hit the wall. They look over at y’all and you wave to Chanyeol.
Kai rolls his eyes and flashes away and you smirk shaking your head. “So are you going to help or what?” Chanyeol says looking at you and you nod putting your hand behind your back as you flash.
Jungah sighs looking back around the counter watching. You appear making a sword appear in your hand and you slash at the grimm next to Baekhyun killing it. “Y/n!”
Baekhyun looks at you in shock and you just smile waving at him. You swing the sword above your head and it transforms into a gun and you point it at him. “Hey what are you doing!”
You smile tilting your head and you fire off two shots and they head towards Baekhyun curving around his head. Baekhyun screams ducking down and you throw the gun towards Sehun and he jumps up flipping in the air catching it.
You watch as the bullets hit the grimm and watch in turn to ash. “Saving your ass that’s what.” You put your hands on your hips looking at him and he looks behind him. “Get up dork.”
Sehun turns shooting two more grimm before walking over to you putting his arm around you. “Such a big baby.” He looks down at Baekhyun smirking and Baekhyun growl balling up his fist.
Kai looks over at Sehun blasting him with an energy ball. “How many times do I have to tell don’t touch her.” Kai growls towering over you and you just stand there folding your arms.
“Last time I checked you didn’t want her.” Sehun pushes his hair back looking up at you then at Kai. He aim his gun at Kai with a smirk and Kai holds his hand up creating ball of energy again.
You look over at Suho and Xiumin sighing. “Try me kid.” Kai says looking down at Sehun as he lays on the ground. Your ears twitch hearing something and you look out the corner of your eye seeing a bird claw come towards where y’all stand.
You reach back placing one hand on the gun and your other hand on Kai. You push Kai out the way as you bring your other hand up the gun turning back into a sword and you bring down stabbing the wing of the bird.
“I swear you two are idiots.” You look down at them and Kai looks at you watching you. “If you have something to say then say it.” You snap at him and he looks away before fading away.
“See he still cares.” Sehun says standing back up and you both turn hearing a women scream.
“Jiwoo!” The lady scream looking up at the sky and you all look up seeing a grimm bird carry off a little kid. “Jiwoo someone help!”
You watch as Sehun creates a wind wave and flies ups but Donghyun whistles and beowolf jumps down from another roof top attacking Sehun and he falls to the ground.
“Beacon!” You yell pointing to the kid and the boys look up at the kid. Suho aims his hands up making a water wall and Xiumin quickly freezes the water trying to slow the bird down.
“Junghyun show your self now!” You turn around looking around. You gasp feeling the blade go through you.
“With pleasure princess not fun being stabbed in the back huh.” He says in your ear pulling the sword out and he laughs watching you. “Looks like I found one piece of the puzzle.” You gasp again trying to breath.
Kai reappears behind you shooting at Junghyun and you turn looking at him. “Hyung…Lay!” Kai yells and Lay looks over then runs over just as Kai flashes away then appears on the ice wall.
“Y/n!” Lay says placing his hand on your wound but you stop him shaking your head. “But….”
“It won’t work it had venom on it.” You speak slowly and you look around trying to think. “We need to stop that bird now!” You turn looking back up towards the skies.
“Well how do we do that when we try and get close more beowolves show up!” Chanyeol yells as he kills a pack of grimm being surrounded. You cough closing your eyes gripping onto Lay’s arm.
“Okay Chanyeol, Baekhyun and Lay stay down here.” You take a slow deep breath standing up your eyes turning blue. “Suho, Xiumin you come with me.” You run off jumping onto a table then jump up again landing on the back of the Nevermore.
“Hey what about me!” Sehun yells watching you and he just sighs. Suho and Xiumin both follow your lead. “Yeah great I’ll help out down here.” He growls punching Donghyun in the face.
You watch as the Nevermore carrying the child breaks through the ice wall and Kai jumps on its back. “What’s the plan y/n?” Suho yells looking at you and you let your head hang.
“First get the child then kill the bird take your pick cut the head off or cut its wings.” You look back a head then down at the bird your on.
Xiumin looks at Suho nodding at each other. “You thinking what I’m thinking.” Xiumin says and Suho nods standing up and Xiumin follows his lead. “I think this bird need to cool off.”
You smirk shaking your head hearing him then you stand up getting ready to jump. You look back hearing the other nevermore screech dying then see Suho land next to you and that’s when you jump off.
Kai looks back watching you and you put your hands on your hips. “What are you doing up here?” He snarls looking back at the bird and you smirk. “Get out of here now!” He looks back pulling out a scythe and you lift a brow watching him.
He swings it back then aims it at the bird wing bringing it down. The Nevermore screeches releasing the kid and you growl looking at Kai then jump after the kid. You look down the air rushing all around you and just as you reach out for the kid the Nevermore swoops down grabbing the kid with it claws.
“Damn it!” You look up then back in front of you and you cover you face as you smash through a building. You cough landing on top of another one and you look up running at full speed jumping off the roof landing on the Nevermore with Xiumin and Suho.
“Fucking idiot!” You look up seeing the bird fly higher and you growl. “I swear if anything happens to that kid I won’t think twice about hurting him.” You look at them as you blast the bird making it follow the other.
You jump up again flashing to the other Nevermore. “Hey idiot we have to save the kid first before we kill the bird.” You growl at him as Xiumin and Suho land next to you.
“Okay we clip the wings and you blast from the bottom okay.” Suho says places his hand on your shoulder. You nod wiping the blood from the corner of your mouth. “Then we’ll see you back at the office.”
You nod again making your way down to the bird foot grabbing ahold of its leg. The kid hangs there unconscious and you close your eyes. You reach over grabbing the child but your hand starts to slip.
“Now!”
You scream lifting your other hand blasting the bird just as water and ice cover the bird wings. You black out as you start to free fall from the loss of blood and the child slips out your hand.
As you fall you hear screams and slowly start to come to. “Hey the child Donghyun!” Junghyun yells and you open your eyes looking around seeing you’re still falling and you look for the child.
“Oh no.” You see the child and you use every bit of energy your eyes glazing over with black as you grab the child and teleport to your office and you hit the floor and roll over hitting the wall. Chaeseon jumps seeing you and she walks over waving her hand trying to clear the dust.
“You really aren’t human.” Min says sitting at the table and you look over then back down at the child. “Why didn’t you tell me from the start?”

Tumblr media
Affection
While he gives his fair share of verbal affection, Baekhyun is very physical when it comes to giving you love. Lots of hugs and kisses.
Boyfriend
He was so nervous. He rambled and stammered, pulled at the sleeves of his sweater and played with his hair, until you finally caught on and asked if he was asking you out.
Cuddles
Baekhyun always wants a cuddle. He clings to you like a koala, draping his arms and legs over your body, snuggling into your warmth.
Date
Dates with him are mostly chill and fun. He’ll take you to the aquarium, the arcade, and the roller rink.
EXO
He loves that you get along with the other members. After you all hang out, you’ll catch him grinning on the way home.
“Why are you smiling?” you ask.
“No reason,” he sings.
Fights
Arguments are loud, but he can’t stay mad at you for long. He hugs you from behind and kisses your shoulderblade.
“Are you still mad at me? I’m really sorry, we can talk about it if you want. I miss you.”
Gift
You have a little plushie collection thanks to Baekhyun. He takes home all the ones that he proclaims are “as cute as you.”
Home
"I can’t believe we’re living together,” Baekhyun says. He wraps you in his arms and kisses you on the nose.
“It is a nice place,” you reply.
“Our place,” he grins, before kissing you again.
Interest
He’s in love with your love. He thinks that you have the biggest heart out of everyone in the world, and all he wants to do is pay it back tenfold.
Jealousy
Baekhyun definitely gets jealous. He’ll pout until he gets your attention, and sometimes even resorts to light PDA to get you out of a situation.
Kisses
He sprinkles kisses all over your face. On closed eyelids and foreheads, noses and corners of lips. He’ll give you butterfly kisses and eskimo kisses, and giggles into every single one.
Love
"Let’s stay in today.” Baekhyun only hums in reply, so you say, “You can teach me how to play that game you like?”
He shoots up, bedhead sticking in every direction. “Really?!” He tackles you and gives you quick pecks on the lips. “I love you, I love you, I love you!” he says.
Morning
When you attempt to roll out of bed, he grabs you and pulls you back in. He mumbles your name in a sleepy voice and begs for five more minutes.
Name
He’ll call you wifey/husband and also something completely embarrassing just to make you mad.
Offspring
He’s uncharacteristically quiet when his daughter is born. He holds her for the first time, his eyes so full of love and worship.
“I love you so much,” he tells her, and holds her closer to his chest.
PDA
He’s all for PDA. He’ll play with your hands, surprise you with kisses, and peck you on the cheek no matter who’s watching.
Quiet
When he actually feels like being quiet, Baekhyun will hold your hand. He’ll drum little rhythms, kiss your knuckles, and run his thumb up the side.
Romance
“I made you breakfast in bed?”
The tray in his hands has nothing but a bowl of cereal. Baekhyun laughs sheepishly. “I tried to make eggs but that didn’t work out. And turns out I can’t make toast very well either -”
You cut him off with a kiss. “Thank you.”
Singing
He’ll serenade you at any moment, be it an EXO song or random nonsense that he’s coming up with on the spot. He sings for you unabashedly, crooning sweet notes that make you smile.
Touch
He loves to give you hugs. He just really loves to hold you in his arms.
Upset
Baekhyun can tell when you’re being serious, so he gives you the space you need. He’ll come and find you later with your favorite ice cream in hand.
Vulnerable
You can tell when it’s getting to him. When the stress and strain of being a performer, combined with an influx of negative comments, causes him to become tense. He collapses into your arms and lets you stroke his hair as he tells you all of his frustrations.
Wild Card
In the mornings, the two of you brush your teeth together. He’ll make faces at you in the mirror, and before long it becomes a competition to see who can make a sillier expression.
X-Rated
Baekhyun is a huge tease, and loves to drive you to your breaking point before giving you what you want.
“Do you want more? You’re gonna have to tell me, baby.”
Yes
"A puppy?” you ask.
“She’s ours,” Baekhyun says, passing her to you. You notice something on her collar.
It’s a ring.
“Baekhyun?” When you look at him, he’s on his knee, a hopeful smile on his face.
Zzz
"Go to sleep.”
Baekhyun giggles and kisses you one more time. “I love you so much.”
“Baekhyun.”
“Okay, okay. Goodnight.”

Gambling [Chapter 3]
Tumblr media
Mafia!AU
Pairing: Xiumin x Reader
Warnings: Language, violence, sexual situations
Summary: After his ruined wedding, Kim Minseok puts all his time into his mafia to distract from the heartache. That’s when he finds himself in a deal with you. The deal is simple: whoever falls in love first, loses.
Prologue│Chapter 1│Chapter 2│Chapter 3│Chapter 4│Chapter 5│ Chapter 6│Chapter 7│Chapter 8│Epilogue
“I believe I win.” Xiumin whispers when he pulls away, though his face is still so close to yours.
Your eyes flutter open, and you’re embarrassed when you pick up your glass and gulp it down. You can’t believe you let that happen. You can’t believe he so easily slipped past your barriers, so easily got to you.
“Alright,” you growl, eyes narrowed on him behind your mask. “My turn.”
He raises a brow. “Go ahead.”
You twirl your refilled glass in your hand, pretending to think. You see his eyes following the movement of your wrist intently. You smile inwardly, glad he’s not the only one who has a captivating effect. “Let’s see…”
You shift your legs, crossing them so that they brush his legs just the slightest bit. You lean forward, feeling him shiver. You lower your voice, brushing your lips against his ear, “You’re imagining me naked right now, aren’t you?”
He lets out a laugh, downing his glass. “Trust me, I’m imagining you doing much more than just being naked.”
You don’t know why his words excite you so much. Your heart is pounding along with the music, tripling when Xiumin casually places a hand over your knee, his thumb tracing circles along your exposed skin. “You’re imagining me naked too, aren’t you?”
His voice has become husky, making you shiver. He’s too close, too close. You can smell the musky deodorant on him, making him so incredibly more attractive.
“And if I say I am?” You whisper, watching the way his eyes dilate behind his mask.
“Then you drink.” He answers in a tone equally low. “Or we could go somewhere more private?”
“How about both?” You suggest with a grin, a look he mimics as he watches you finish your glass.
“How are you this sexy?” He groans when he pulls you up from your seat, his arm secure around your waist as he leads you away from the party.
“That way.” You point towards a hallway with two guards standing in front. He nods and steers you over, the guards letting the both of you through after seeing you.
You feel so breathless despite having done nothing. Just the thought of being alone with Xiumin like this makes you squirm.
“Easy there,” Xiumin’s husky voice hits your ear, a smile in his words. “We’re almost there.”
You could barely wait until you made it to the door of the guest room. You grab Xiumin’s tie, pulling him forward as you meet his eager lips. He’s hard and passionate, matching your frenzied pace.
He fumbles with the knob to the door, pushing it open and you pull him in with you, your lips still connected in a fevered kiss.
“Fuck.” He groans, breaking away only to breathe and then he’s back. Hands cupping your face, removing your mask, sliding into your hair, down your body and forcing you closer.
“Bed. Now.” You hiss, pushing off his mask and blazer as he pulls down the zipper of your dress, his hands brushing your bare back.
“How eager.” he chuckles breathlessly, though he’s very much eager as well. He picks you up, setting you down onto the bed and stretching out over you. He tugs the black dress off your body, and you lift your hips to aid him.
“Beautiful.” He murmurs, kissing your jaw, his warm hands running down your bare thighs.
You merely hum.
He raises your legs, wrapping them around his waist. You sigh when you feel the rough fabric of his pants against you. “Take them off.”
“I thought you said no sex?” He raises a brow teasingly at you, his lips pulled up in a smirk.
“Were you even listening? I said not on the first date. This is our second date.” You sit up to tug off his shirt and pull him back towards you. His skin is hot against yours, the muscles under your fingertips rippling.
“Ah, that’s right.” He murmurs against your neck before he starts planting kisses all over your skin, nibbling and sucking.
“Minseok.” You breathe out, not even knowing what you said. You feel him stiffen just the slightest bit, surprised. You never call him that anymore.
“I like it when you say my name like that.” He kisses your lips. “Say it again.”
“Minseok.” You repeat, louder, seeing the way his dark eyes darken even more, hazed with lust.
He closes his eyes, his breath shaking. “I can’t—” He whines, straightening as he quickly works on his pants.
The both of you are in your underwear now. Xiumin’s eyes are trained on yours intently, his hands coming to unclip your bra.
You let him.
“Raise your hips.” He slides off your underwear, then his.
He holds you close, warm and comforting and his body fits against you so perfectly.
And then you’re gone.
Scrambling to sit up, pulling the sheets against your skin to shield yourself from him. Xiumin moves to sit up as well, confusion written all over his face. You look down, ashamed, your breathing ragged.
You can still hear the screams, still smell the blood.
You can’t.
You can’t.
You don’t say anything, and he doesn’t ask you anything. Doesn’t ask you why, doesn’t ask for an explanation. He just stands silently, picking up his clothes, slipping on his pants and sitting back down on the bed, at the other end.
There’s a long, crushing silence between you.
“I—” You finally start, your mouth terribly dry. “I’m sorry.”
“There’s nothing to apologize for.” Xiumin’s voice is unbelievably soft, as if he’s talking to a scared child. “I understand.”
No, you don’t, you want to say. To scream. To cry and throw a tantrum and let this all out. But you don’t; you just sit there quietly, watching him under your lashes. His breathing is normal again, his eyes trained on the wall across him. He doesn’t look at you, and you’re thankful for that. You don’t think you can handle the way he looks at you.
“I—” You try starting again, thinking you should give him some kind of explanation.
“It’s okay.” Xiumin cuts you off swiftly, his hand pushed through his messy hair though his eyes still don’t look at you. “It’s fine.”
“Have you ever had sex with her?” You find yourself asking. “Your ex-fiancée.” You want to kick yourself—you know how touchy this subject is for him. Hell, if anyone asked you about your exes, you would probably punch them.
He merely laughs dryly, shaking his head. “Nope. She wanted to take things slow.”
“You must’ve loved her a lot.” You whisper, your eyes drooping slightly. You try to imagine him with another girl, happy, with matching rings on their fingers. You want to see how she looks, why he fell in love with her.
“I did.” He answers softly, a gentle, faraway look in his eyes. “I loved her so much.”
Why does hearing him say that make you feel so terribly sad?
“I need some time alone.” You whisper, feeling suddenly guilty for saying so. Xiumin nods, standing and putting on the rest of his clothes, slipping on his mask and then he’s gone.
You curl in on yourself, feeling the emptiness of the room taunt you. Your breathing is becoming ragged again, your hands coming to pull at your hair as you withdraw into the memories you try so hard to lock away.
You remember being under the bed in your parents’ room. The cold marble floor pressed against your arms. You remember waiting, waiting for the screams to die down, for your mom or dad to come in tell you that everything is okay now.
You remember seeing your mom come in, and you almost smile in relief until a shadow comes up behind her.
You can still hear her scream, hear her cry and beg for her life. For your life. For her husband’s life.
You remember seeing her die right there in front of you, barely a step away. Her lifeless eyes are watching you, filled with pain and regret and fear. Her blood nearly touches you.
You remember your dad rushing in, yelling in anger and firing his gun. Three times. The sound makes you whimper, as you squeeze your eyes tight, not wanting to see any more.
This is too much, too much.
Someone is beside you. A hand is pressed over your eyes and a voice whistles in your ear, “Shh…”
You’re crying silent tears, trying hard not to let any sound out. You hear something fall, the thump of a lifeless body hitting the floor.
The hand over your eyes shifts slightly, and you’re able to see from the gap between the fingers. You see a face you recognize.
A face you’ll come to hate.
A face that you are reminded of every day, smeared in blood, his eyes locked with yours.
And then you think of Xiumin, and you begin to cry. You wish you never made such a deal with him. You wish you just gave him the damn money and went your separate ways.
Why are you torturing yourself?
Minseok sighs, leaning back against the leather seat of his car. His head is pressed against the glass of the window, watching the scenery outside pass by in a blur.
“Did you not have fun, sir?” His driver asks, looking at him through the rearview mirror. “You called earlier than expected.”
“It’s just that…” Minseok massages the bridge of his nose. “…Unexpected things happened.”
“I see.” The driver answers simply. In this business, unexpected things are merely part of the cycle. Unexpected becomes normal, and Minseok knows this. He knows you.
The way you removed yourself from him, curling in yourself and putting up twice as many walls as before hurt him. If he allowed himself to look at you, the hurt in his eyes would be obvious.
That’s why he looked away, determined not to let this affect him.
If you wanted to push him away, then fine. He wouldn’t force you. He would follow your pace, go as slow as you want, keep as much distance as you want. This is your game, and he’s only your pawn.
He knows this, of course.
When he closes his eyes, he can still hear the gunshots. Three times.
Two bodies.
A pool of blood.
A little girl trying hard not to cry out loud.
Two lives changed in a single moment.
“Sir, are you alright?” The driver asks after a moment, recognizing the look on Minseok’s face.
Minseok opens his eyes, finding himself back in his car. Not that room. Not with the woman whose lifeless eyes are looking at him.
“I’m fine.” He says, his voice calm and collected, though his throat feels like it’s closing in. There are so many things he wants to tell her, though he knows she won’t ever believe him.
She doesn’t know.
She doesn’t know like he does.
“We’re here, sir.” The driver announces, pulling up at the driveway of EXO’s base.
“Thank you.” Minseok whispers, getting off and stretching. His clothes and hair are still disheveled, and he runs his hand through his hair, trying to smooth it out. Jongin will give him hell again.
When he makes his way to his room, sure enough Jongin pokes his head out from his own room, taking in his brother’s messy appearance. “So?”
“So?” Minseok repeats, raising a delicate brow as he leans against the wall to face his brother. “So what?”
“How was the party?” Jongin asks, voice velvety and smooth as if he was talking to a customer.
Minseok shrugs, beginning to slip out of his blazer. “It was ok.”
“Right.” Jongin wrinkles his nose. “You smell like perfume. Did you have sex?”
“I—No.” Minseok sighs. “We didn’t.”
“Am I hearing a ‘but?’” Jongin wiggles his eyebrows, a grin playing on his lips.
“No.” Minseok suddenly turns sour, a scowl growing on his lips. “No buts. I’m tired. Good night, Jongin.”
“Hyung!” Jongin calls, forcing Minseok to turn around again. Minseok sees the hesitation in Jongin’s dark eyes, the worry, the fear. “Please, be careful. You’re…you’re all I have.”
“And you’re all I have too.” Minseok manages a small smile, ruffling his younger brother’s hair. “Love you, little bro.”
Jongin whines, swatting Minseok’s hand away. “Yeah, yeah. Good night.”
Minseok laughs, heading to his room, though it dies down the second he’s alone again. The darkness of his room makes him calm down, clearing his head.
“Minseok.” Your voice echoes in his head and he manages a bittersweet smile. He likes it when you call him that.

De-stressing [M]
Based on an anon request.
Pairing: Xiumin x Reader
Genre: canon au, smut (phone sex?)
Words: 2.1k
You were the kind of person who avoided calling people unless it was absolutely necessary. You were convinced that the greatest advantage of living as a barely functioning adult in the twenty first century was the phenomena of text messaging.
However, in your current state, you were sure that you wouldn’t have the patience to type out your pain but you needed to rant to someone in order to avoid your brain from combusting into flames due to the sheer stress that you were under.
You dialed the first number on your speed dial, hoping sincerely that he wouldn’t be too busy to talk to you.
To your relief, he picked up after a few rings, “Hey, babe! What’s up? I was just about to text you.”
“I have to ask you a very important question. Think before you answer, alright?” you dove straight into it, making him nervous.
“Okay?” he said, unsure. “What is it?”
“Is it really that important to be able to afford food, clothes, a roof over my head and insurance?” you asked, looking at the mess that you had made in your living room. Papers were lying askew, multiple empty cups previously filled with coffee lined the surface of the table and your laptop had been plugged in to charge for what seemed like hours.
“Umm, I think so?” he said, a little relieved that you didn’t have a serious question, but were just being silly as usual. “Pretty sure you need all that to survive.”
You groaned. “Great, so I can’t quit my stupid job? You asked.
“You love your job.” He stated and you pouted.
“But, I hate the new manager!” you started your rant.
“I’m all ears.” Your boyfriend replied, completely accustomed to often hearing you whine about your problems to him, having known you for over a year.
“Okay, so, there’s this new client that hired us a few days back. They’re a big deal in the soap industry, so-“
He cut you off with a small laugh, “Soap?”
“Yeah, soap.” You said, rolling your eyes, “You were supposed to listen to me!”
“Sorry,” he apologized, still laughing, “Go on.”
“Where was I?” you tried to regain your train of thought, “Oh yes! This is going to be a nationwide advertising campaign. They want us to handle all the media promotions-tv, radio, print-the whole deal. This is a good thing, I know. We’ll get a raise if this goes well.”
“What’s the problem, then?” he asked. You could hear voices around him, and you knew that he was still at work, probably on a short break from practice.
“Well, the new manager is a total dickhead. He made me in charge of the account AND the presentation that had to be given to the client about the campaign ideas.” You sighed, pinching the bridge of your nose. “I’m already swarmed with the fast food joint commercial, the quarterly appraisal and I’m just so fucking done with this.”
“I understand,” he said, “Sometimes it can become too much, even if you love doing it.”
“I used to love the creative part of this profession, which is why I took it up in the first place, but now I can’t concentrate on anything, nor am I able to come up with any ideas. The team did this brainstorming session, but I have to compile all the ideas and come up with a sold plan.” You said, putting the laptop on the floor next to you and getting up to sit on the couch.
“Why are you doing this alone?” he asked.
“Because my boss is an asshole!” you yelled into the phone. “Help me, Minseok!” you say, exasperated. “My mind is completely blank but at the same time it’s a mess. Does that even make sense?!”
“Woah, babe, just calm down!” he said, and you heard someone calling his name and you sighed.
“You’re probably busy, I shouldn’t be bothering you.” You state.
“No, that was just Jongdae forcing me to go shopping with him, secretly hoping that I’ll buy him things.” He said, “I told him to fuck off because my girlfriend needs me right now.”
You laughed, “Tell Jongdae I said sorry.” You were so glad that you could hear Minseok’s voice. It always calmed you down. You always hesitated to video call each other because, he would always be surrounded by staff. “God, I wish you were here.”
“Me too, love.” He replied, “Wait, hold on, these idiots I call my members are being too fucking loud. I’m going to go to a quieter place.” You agreed to that and even as he moved away you could hear Baekhyun and Chanyeol yelling about something. You put the call on speaker as you waited ad pacing it next to you on the handle of the sofa.
“Still there?” he asked after a few seconds and you hum a yes in response. “Okay, listen, y/n. It’s normal to feel like this sometimes, trust me.”
“I’m just so worried that I won’t get shit done on time.” You said, your voice low with laced consternation. “What do I do~~!” you asked, burying your face in your hands.
“I think you need to take a short break. Destress, maybe. It’ll help you think straight afterwards.” He suggested and your ears perked up.
“What kind of distressing?” you asked, intrigued.
“It would be easier to show you if I were there.” You could almost hear the smirk in his tone.
You hadn’t been thinking about sex or about how much you missed him, but his suggestive tone definitely got you interested. “Well, too bad.”
“Babe, do you remember the night before I left?”
A wave of excitement passed through your body just thinking about that night. You both had been aware of the fact that he would be gone for quite a while, which meant that the sex would have to wait for quite a while too.
“Yeah.” You replied, gulping.
“That was the best sex I’ve ever had.” He said, and then added, “You’re really good, you know that?”
You didn’t exactly have a praise kink, but it didn’t hurt to hear that once in a while, especially from someone who was as attractive and desirable as Minseok.
You didn’t reply, and you could hear him breathing loudly in the silence that followed.
He said in a softer voice, “I’m already hard thinking about it.”
Your eyes widened at his confession, and you could feel a dull throbbing in your core, arousal pooling under your sweats. “it’s a good thing I came into an empty room.”
“W-why?” you breathed out, although you sort of knew the answer to that question.
“Because, y/n, I don’t want to get caught with my dick in my hand, getting off at just the thought of my beautiful girlfriend’s pussy.”
“Minseok!” you yelled, not expecting him to be so explicit. You were never good with the dirty talk, it always made you blush uncontrollably and left you awkward and speechless.
“I missed hearing you yell my name like that.” His breaths became more unsteady and just the image of him touching himself hearing your voice and thinking about you made your core ache. You bit your lip, contemplating if you should go ahead with what your body really wanted at this time.
You heard him moan softly, and that was the last straw. You put your hand down your sweats and began stroking yourself. Your breathing became very shallow, just like his and you felt like the room’s temperature had gone up by a few degrees.
Minseok seemed to catch on. “You aren’t wearing any panties right now, are you?” He knew you really well and was aware of the fact that you preferred to forego wearing any undergarments at home, especially when you were alone.
“No” you replied.
“Are you touching yourself?” he asked, and you had to bite your lip from the moan that was about to escape your mouth as a response. You were rubbing your clit roughly, jolts of pleasure running through your body.
“Hmmm” you hummed a response, unable to formulate words.
“Oh, shit,” you heard him curse. “Babe, how wet are you?”
You moved away your fingers for a second, taking a deep breath and deciding to let the desire do all the dirty talking that you weren’t sure you had in you.
“Wet enough that I’ll have to clean the couch later on.” You scoffed at your lame attempt and tried again, ‘Actually if you were here, I’d be dripping from the side of your chin.”
You closed your eyes, blushing.
You weren’t sure if you had underestimated yourself or if your boyfriend had really low expectations when it came to dirty talk, but he seemed to like what you had said. “Don’t stop touching yourself” he said, almost like it was an order.
You weren’t going to refuse, seeing as it would most definitely play to your advantage. You resumed your action on your clit, not bothering to silence the moan that escaped and concentrated on pleasuring yourself.
As soon as the sounds were elicited from your mouth, you could swear you heard the way in which his hands moved along his cock, the speed increasing. The sound reminded of you the last time he was with you, inside you. He hadn’t needed his hands that time, the slick noises had filled the room with each thrust of his dick. Your desire grew tenfold, and you closed your eyes, soaking in the sensation.
“Babe,” he breathed out, “Lick your fingers and put them in like I would.”
Your eyes popped open, wide with surprise, but also with anticipation. Your heart was about to beat out of your chest, and waiting for gratification became more difficult.
You did as he asked, putting your index and middle fingers in your mouth, wetting them and after just a millisecond of hesitation, you pushed them into your slit, moaning again at the stretch.
You started slow, pushing in and out, trying to get used to the feeling of your fingers inside you, and then you slowly increased the pace to a steady rhythm.
You moved the phone closer with your free hand, not even thinking about what you were doing or saying anymore, “Can you hear it?” you asked, trying to be more rough in the way you pushed your digits in and out, the room filled with the sound of the squelching juices.
“Fuck,” he cursed, “You’re so fucking hot.”
He continued, “Curl your fingers and go as deep as you can.”
“Minseok,” you whimpered. As your digits curled, hitting your g-spot with every push.
Your free hand reached down to rub gentle circles on your clit, increasing your bliss.
“God, I can’t wait for your mouth to be around my dick.” He stated, and you hummed in agreement.
You couldn’t help the string of curses that left your mouth as you felt heat building your abdomen. You could feel the pleasure building rapidly, ready to burst and you said, “I’m gonna cum! Holy shit, Minseok, I-“
Your screams were cut off by his own, and you heard his moan as he reached his high, the thought of that making you reach your own. Your feet dug into the ground, and you lifted your hips involuntarily as euphoria took over your body. You rode out the orgasm, moaning his name and hearing him make sounds that sounded liked heaven to your ears.
You pulled your fingers out, panting and lying on your couch, looking up at the ceiling.
Minseok spoke, clearing his throat, “How do you feel?”
You answered quickly, “I feel great.”
He replied, “Great enough to not want to quit your job?”
Honestly, you had forgotten about your predicament while he was helping you de-stress. You groaned at the thought of having to go back to your workload, but surprisingly, you felt like you could handle it if you gave it some sincere thought.
“You’re sly,” you said, your mouth curling up into a smile.
“Did you mean, smart?” he asked, rhetorically.
“Okay, Dr Kim,” you started sarcastically, rolling your eyes, “I should probably get back to my work and you should too.” You said, sitting infront of your laptop once again. You decided to clean up yourself and the couch before getting back to formulating a new ad campaign. “After I clean up this mess” you muttered.
He laughed, “I didn’t know you could talk dirty, babe.” He added, “I’m impressed, I gotta say!”
‘Don’t sound so surprised!” you said, pouting at his words.
“You were always so vanilla,” he mused and you wanted to chastise him, taking offense even though he wasn’t completely wrong.
“Well,” you started, with a smirk. “Why don’t you come back home so I can show you just how kinky I can be.”
He laughed, and said “Cute.” You couldn’t help but laugh along at how unnatural the words sounded when it came out of your mouth.
Maybe the really kinky stuff had to wait until you get mind-numbingly stressed out again.

Forget-Me-Not Part III
Summary: You could never forget him, but what happens when an accident causes him to forget you?
Genre: Angst (Chanyeol X Reader)
Word count: 3297
Part One / Part Two / Part Three / Part Four / Part Five / Part Six
December 12th. The calendar told you that today was your follow up appointment for your shoulder. Which also told you that it had been three weeks since the accident. Three weeks with no progress. Three weeks without being able to hold him and tell him you love him and have him say it back.
Within those three weeks, the dorm had fallen into a false form of normal. The kind where everyone pretended everything was fine but no one addressed the elephant in the room and the elephant was rather oblivious to itself. You haven’t had much time to talk with all of the members but you couldn’t say you minded. Baekhyun kept pretty close tabs on you, so did Suho. Making sure you were okay, that you weren’t in pain, and the others spoke with you when they could, some of them sharing a meal and catching you up on their schedules. You even helped Kyungsoo read for a script he had. For the most part however they knew you well enough to know when you wanted space. At first you couldn’t come out of your room. Just seeing him hurt you. Sehun told him you were just overwhelmed from the crash. Whether he bought it or not you couldn’t tell but it was good enough. Over the second week you had started making small talk with him. Slowly pushing yourself to try and talk to him, in hopes that he would make even the smallest connection. There were a few times you thought he had, where he would say something so specifically you or so  unique that only you would know. Like an inside joke you made up one day over pancakes, or he saw something silly that he hated and whines to you about it. This week you took that hope you found and locked it away in a place that you could feel it, a place that you gave it a little wiggle room to grow if it could, but never leave. Baekhyun and Sehun has dropped small things here and there. Minor slips of the tongue that seemed to go right over Chanyeol’s head. You noticed that in recent days it happened less accidentally, despite the doctors urgings to let the memories come back on their own. A little push wouldn’t hurt right?
You laid in bed, scrolling through every social media app you had for the millionth time. None of them providing anything more than a temporary, mundane form of comfort. You were nervous. This appointment would determine whether or not you could start using your arm again and in turn, whether or not you could start working again. You missed it, hell you needed to go back. It was your outlet. Makeup allowed you to be creative, each member providing s different canvas to work with. This week they were starting up with promotions again, Chanyeol included. The doctor had deemed him stable and healthy enough to resume his usual activities but had seen no improvement in his memory recovery.
The air was chilly against your skin as you peeled the blankets from you. The weather had gotten colder than you anticipated and it only made your shoulder ache more. You pushed yourself off the bed with a groan and tucked your feet into the little bunny slippers Chanyeol had bought for for Christmas last year. Your room, which up to this point was Xiumin’s but he opted to bunk with Chen until you were okay to go home. If you were honest, you weren’t really sure what home was anymore. It hadn’t been a place for years. The apartment you lived in was just a shelter, an empty place only filled because you had him. He made it a home. He was home. Now you felt homeless.
Chanyeol sat alone at the kitchen counter, today’s newspaper in his hands. You always chuckled at that. Even though you could find the news online he always preferred the old fashioned paper. His thick, black frames sat gently on his nose. On anyone else they would have been too much, but somehow he made it work. Behind them his eyes read the print carefully, his brows furrowed in annoyance as his tongue licked his teeth carefully. He did that when he focus really hard.
“What are you reading?” You said, breaking the silence. You grabbed a yogurt out of the fridge and open it with your teeth then grabbed another for him. Peach for you, strawberry for him.
He sighed with a growl and lazily folded the paper. “Nothing good. Just politics.”
You scoffed and smiled, handing the yogurt cup to him. “I’d rather read the cartoons.” Which is true, but you knew he loved that too.
He chuckled, his bright smile taking over, and he opened his yogurt. “So would I! Minseok got ahold of it before i woke up.”
“Doesn’t surprise me, he’s an early riser. Is he the one that made the coffee?” You asked curiously, you would kill for a fresh cup. The smell calmed you and have you a strange sense of peace.
“No, well he made a pot but everyone had their fair share. Also before i got up. I made that pot, so it’s fresh. Help yourself.”
You laughed. “Seems like we could both use to get up earlier huh? It would be beneficial to our morning routines.” You took a mug from the cubby, “do you want a cup?” He nodded and you grabbed another.
You prepared your cup the way you liked it, with as much cream and sugar you could fit in the cup. He liked his black, withthe smallest bit of sugar, but never any cream. He felt like the cream didn’t make a difference and always made fun of you for your coffee flavoured milk.
You slid his cup over to him and he took a sip.
“Aaah, refreshing.” He said and glanced at yours, “you’re gonna get cavities drinking that. You practically poured the whole container in!”
You laughed loudly, more so than you should have for something that wasn’t even funny, but it felt nice. He said the same thing the first time you had coffee together. It was before the two of you started dating, in fact it was the date, if you could call it that, that triggered the scandal that led to you dating. He took you out to get some fresh air. Both of you had felt overwhelmed, you with the decision of a lifetime teetering back and forth and him with the stress that the idol life brought him. Funny how that time brought you close, and in turn how you got each other through it. In fact this was the first sense of normalcy you’ve had in a while. Just you and him and your morning coffee. You wanted to savor this, right down to the last drop. To remember what was. You closed your eyes and pretended, just for a second, that you were home, and that he was yours.
“What are you doing?” He asked lightly. You opened your eyes slowly. He was staring at you intently, a sense of curiosity danced in his eyes. He used to be able to read you like a book, word for word, cover to cover. He could tell your mood by how you moved, even the smallest movement of your hand. You wondered if he still could. Could he see that you hurt when you looked at him? That you hadn’t smiled, hadn’t laughed, hadn’t been happy in weeks? The logical side of you knew that he had no clue who you were. But the romantic side of you? That side clung to every ounce of hope it could find.
“Just enjoying my coffee.” You said as you took another sip. You watched his eyes search your face for the truth and part of you hoped he would find it. You raised your cup to take another taste and his face lit up.
“Waah, what’s this??” Chanyeol pointed to your ring. You felt your heart drop to your stomach. You’d forgotten that you still had it on. You really didn’t know what to with it. You didn’t even know if you err engaged anymore. Taking it off felt wrong, like you were giving up hope, giving up what you had of him. It felt like you lost. So you kept it on, hoping someday this little piece of gold wouldn’t hurt you so much.
“Are you engaged??” His voice was filled with excitement, his happiness leaving a burning sting in your chest.
You fidgeted with the ring, “It’s...complicated.” You managed. Your eyes glued to the ring not daring to take it off, in fear that he would see your names engraved together on the inside. You felt the numbness pile back. That’s the only thing you could think to call it. The mess of every emotion possible in one go. Numb.
You felt a hand wrap gently around yours. You looked up slowly and met his eyes and immediately wished you hadn’t. He looked sad,as if he could feel your pain too, just by touching you. It ate at you,but no matter how bad you didn’t want to feel this you didn’t want him to feel it too. “You don’t have to tell me about it. Whatever happened, it will be okay, okay? I promise.”
You half smiled and took a deep breath, praying that you could exhale the cloud you felt inside. “I hope you’re right.”
“Where is everyone?” You asked. Chanyeol relaxed into his chair. He removed ball cap and fixed his hair, ruffling it up loosely, making it stick out in a boyish and endearing way. You chuckled at him, shaking your head at his antics.
“At their schedules, today is particularly busy.” He stated as he slapped his cap back on. “Except for me. My schedules resume tomorrow.”
You blinked. “Gone!?Baekhyun was supposed to drive me to my follow up in a half an hour!” You groaned and rubbed your eyes with your palms. The doctor didn’t want you driving just yet, and even if you could cars stressed you out. You hated even being in them.
“I can drive you.” Chanyeol said. “The doctor cleared me to drive, so i can take you. It’s no burden, I’ve got nothing better to do today.” Chanyeol stood up, straightening his hoodie and cleaning his mess, seemingly deciding he was taking you himself.
“Thank you.” You breathed. “I just want to use my stupid arm again.” You rubbed your shoulder. The sling the kept your arm in to prevent you from using your shoulder was probably one of the most annoying things you could have on. It made everything an inconvenience. Showering, sleeping, even walking. Now you had to be extra careful not to run into things or tap things with your right side. Honestly if the doctor didn’t give you good news you’d probably have a mental breakdown. You wanted to get back to normal. At least I’m one aspect of your life.
“I understand, the brace i had was annoying as hell. I only have to wear it at night now.” He chimed, “I can’t imagine how you must feel. Your a makeup artist right? That’s what the others have told me.”
“Yeah, and I’m supposed to be back at work with you tomorrow. I don’t know what I’m going to do if he says i still can’t use it. I just want to work again. I need one sense of stability back.”
He nodded simply. “We will make it work either way.”
You looked at him. “We?”
“Yeah! I may not remember you but I’m not heartless. Not am i stupid. I can see how much all of the member care about you. That makes you my friend too. We were in the crash together, so we will recover together.”
“Ah.” You let out. You slouched against the fridge, biting the inside of your cheek carefully. A small smile spread over your face. For some reason you found comfort in that small “We”. It was a trivial word that he meant nothing significant by. But to you, it was one of those droplets of hope that poured into your skin and gave you a little bit of faith to keep your head up. So you smiled and raised your cup. “Here’s to a happy recovery.”
“Cheers.”
You hated hospitals. Even before the accident you hated them. They were crowded with people, some obviously sick, some of which had no clear idea of hygiene and manners. Not to mention how loud it was. It always reminded you of pain, in some form, and frustration. You had been to the hospital multiple times in the past. In your teens you had cancer scares, apendicitis, your gallbladder removed, broken bones, all sorts of things. Every visit only brought bad news and stress. You hated it.
The waiting room you were in was particularly busy too. It was fifty fifty with young kids, ones who, obviously played sports and had some kind of injury and elderly folk who probably fell somehow. You sat with your arms crossed across your chest, legs crossed in an effort to make yourself as small as possible and not run into someone else’s chair space. You bounced your leg and fidgeted with the cloth of your jacket, trying to let your mind wander the pass the time.
Chanyeol laid a hand on your knee, calming your shaking leg. “Calm down.” He chuckled, “the worst he’s going to tell you is that you can’t use your arm for a while.”
You huffed, “Which would be fine and dandy if i wasn’t right handed. My fill in at work has to follow another group, so she can’t stay with you. You’ll be short staffed, and I’ve worked short staffed days, everything is set for a loop, and nothing goes right. At this point if he tells me not to I’ll probably just do it anyway.”
“I’d love to see you try, we will all boycott that. You’ll be fine. Just breathe.”
You took a deep breath and nodded. “You’re right. I know you’re right. I just can’t stand doctors.”
A nurse walked out and called your name. You looked at Chanyeol instinctively, and surprisingly his eyes met yours in sync. You nervously licked your lips and he shuffled lightly, his hand brushing yours oh so softly.
“Do you want me to come with you?” He asked quietly. You nodded slowly and and he took your hand as if it was the normal thing to do. The nurse led you back through the doors and ran you through the routine question. Date of birth, did you drink, family history, the whole nine yards. Waiting for the doctor felt endless. Thousands of answers ran through your head. A majority of them medically illogical but your anxiety soared at appointments. Chanyeol gave your hand a squeeze, the look in his eyes giving you small comfort that you had missed. You squeezed his hand back as a silent thank you. You missed holding him. Even as innocent as it is. You missed him.
The doctor entered the room with a light knock. He shuffled onto his swivel chair, clipboard in hand. He typed on the computer and brought up what looked to be your file.
“Alright.” He said spinning around to face you. He wheeled his chair over to your injured side and place a delicate hand on your bandaged shoulder. “Has the pain gotten any better?”
“It has. It’s worst in the mornings.” You stated. He moved your arm up and down slowly, his eyes watching you for any sign of pain. You winced as he brought it high.
“You’ve made good progress! It isn’t fully healed but i know you have been wanting to use t again for work. Given that your work generally doesn’t require heavy lifting I’m going to go ahead and allow you to use your arm. Absolutely no heavy lifting, don’t strain yourself and be careful lifting your arm up too high. I’ll refer you to a physical therapist to help you work back to that, but take it easy for now.” You felt a relief and excitement rush through you. A grin spread across your face, you’d hug the man if it wasn’t inappropriate. “Sound good?”
“Sounds perfect. Thank you.” You said, trying not to bounce off the walls.
He handed you a slip, “Give this to the lady at the front desk, she will schedule you an appointment for a month from now and will schedule you with the PT.  Be careful okay?”
You nodded and made your way to the desk. When you reached the receptionist you felt Chanyeol let go of your hand, and suddenly you felt stone cold. You had to fight the urge to reach out for him, and it pained you to stand still, smile still plastered on your face. He looked at you with glowing eyes and an even more cheerful smile.
“This calls for a celebration!” He pounded his fist meaningfully on the counter, the other shaking almost triumphantly. You cocked an eyebrow in confusion, “Let’s get lunch! My treat!”
You rolled your eyes behind your hands. Chanyeol insisted on surprising you for the place. Honestly if someone told you this was where you would wind up today you’d have told them to fuck off. But here you were. He was driving Suho’s car, given that his was totaled. You didn’t know it as well, the smell was different, the seats didn’t sit the same but Chanyeol still hummed. He still tapped to the beat on his steering wheel and danced in his own little world. It’s strange in a sense, how he wasn’t phased in the least by being in the car again, but with you, Chen had to hold your hand and talk you through it just to keep you from freaking out when you were released from the hospital. The panic had eased since then but everytime the car jerked or made a sudden move you felt your heart skip a beat.
“I’ll drive slower.” Chanyeol said suddenly, pausing personal concert he had going on.
“You, uh, you don’t have to do that. I’m fine.” You do yourself to make yourself seem at ease but you were certain you looked like a dumbass no matter what.
“I can see you tense everytime a car even honks. I’ll go slower.” He stated firmly.
“I’m fine!”
“No you aren’t. I may not remember much of the crash but driving isn’t as fun as it used to be. I know it has to scare you since you remember everything.”
You blinked. Did you hear him right? “You remember the crash?” You asked. You heard him shift in his seat and you pictured him taking his hand and swiping it nervously over his mouth, as if he knew something he wasn’t supposed to.
“Bits and pieces.” He said. “I remember right before the crash. It was peaceful. I remember you were with me too but i don’t know why. I-“ he paused, his lips opening and closing as he searched for what to say. Nothing came. Silence flooded the atmosphere and you couldn’t say you hated it. You didn’t want him to finish that sentence. It would only confirm a number of what ifs that cemented themselves under your eyelids. This way you could imagine a better what if. This way you could fake it.
“It’s okay.” You said softly, “If you don’t remember who I am. I’ll carry the burden for the both of us in the meantime. So it’s okay.”

Miracles in December: Chanyeol
AN: Wow I did not think I was going to get this done before Midnight Mass.
Summary: Working on Christmas Day may not be fun but in your case it leads to meeting an interesting person.
Others in series: Xiumin, Lay, Kai, Sehun
Tumblr media
You were slightly regretting saying that you would work on Christmas day.
It wasn’t that you had anywhere better to be, because you really didn’t. Getting home to your family during the expensive holiday season wasn’t an option in your current financial state, so if you hadn’t been working you probably would have been binge watching some series you didn’t have time to watch in term time and eating festive sweets without really having a proper meal all day. It was definitely better for your waistline to be working.
The reason that you were regretting saying you would work was the walk to work.
It was a fine walk normally, you would even say it was quite nice in the summer, but currently, heading to work on Christmas day through the snow in the freezing cold, you didn’t find it all that pleasant. Even your thick coat and scarf weren’t fully protecting you from the sub-zero temperatures and your face was feeling it especially. By the time you made it to the square where the bakery you worked at was, your nose felt like it was about to fall off and you seriously regretted not taking an extra few minutes to find a pair of gloves.
The first thing you noticed in the square was a guy bundled up in a bright red duffle coat, standing out against the white scenery. Then you spotted another guy. He was pacing the steps in front of the concert hall that was across the square from the bakery. A ring box in hand, he looked full of nervous excitement. You found yourself smiling despite the cold at the romance of the scene. You hoped whoever he was going to propose to loved him as much as he clearly loved them. You also hoped that they came soon because the man was standing there with no coat on, just a leather jacket. Considering how cold you were with all of your layers, you doubted he was warm.
Pulling your eyes away from the man on the steps, you headed to the bakery. You needed to open up soon. Since it was Christmas day and most would be spending it with friends and family, you knew it wasn’t going to be a busy day in the bakery. This meant that you had been scheduled to work alone. Everyone else had somewhere better to be. Needing the money that the triple pay for Christmas Day was getting you, however, you found yourself shedding your layers in the shop and putting your apron on.
Since there was no manager around and there would be few customers, you decided that you could probably stray from the usually compulsory playlist for the shop’s music. In the festive season, the manager had decided, showing extreme originality, that a festive playlist should be on. This was fine, for the first couple of hours. You had been working a lot of hours since uni broke off for the Christmas holidays and you were well and truly sick by this point of listening to the same cheesy Christmas music on repeat for days on end.
This meant, as you were preparing the bakery to open, putting ready prepared buns in the oven to bake, you were also singing and dancing along to the music from your iPod which you had plugged into the shop’s speaker system. Sadly, at twelve when the bakery opened, you had to behave a little more professionally, although you still sang along with the music when there were no customers around.
Once you were standing in one place most of the time, manning the till, and with customers being few and far between, you had quite a lot of down time. In this down time, you found your eyes drawn to the man on the steps. He was still there, although he stopped pacing and sat down after a while. You saw him fiddling with the ring box and watching out for the person he was waiting for.
Even at this distance you could see the smile still on his face so you assumed he had arrived extremely early for the meeting. It was, after all, natural to be nervous before something like this. After a couple of hours, however, you were certain that the person he was waiting for was late. You admired his patience, still smiling after having been stood in the cold for over two hours and only occasionally looking at his watch.
Around the fourth hour you knew for sure that he had been waiting, you started to see the signs of both frustration and the cold coming out. He was holding his jacket tightly around himself, hands tucked under his arms even as one of them was still holding the ring box. Between his breaths periodically obscuring his face from your view, you saw his smile was significantly smaller. There was still a hint of it there, though and you found yourself wondering how you could make it bigger again. He was a good looking guy but he was truly beautiful when he smiled like he had been before.
Your eyes were pulled away from him when a young woman came into the shop, making the little bell above the door ring. She stared at the menu for a few minutes, occasionally glancing at you as if she was about to ask something, but then she would look back at the menu on the blackboards above the till.
“Can I help you find something?” you asked, worried that she was going to stand there for hours at that rate.
She shook her head gently, then changed her mind. “I want to get someone a drink but I don’t know what they like.”
You thought for a second. If she didn’t know what they liked, you certainly didn’t. “Why don’t you just buy them whatever you would want? I don’t think anyone would be offended if you said you didn’t know what they wanted so you thought they could try your favourite.”
She nodded, liking that idea, clearly, and looked up at the hot chocolate side of the drinks menu. “Two salted caramel hot chocolates please.”
“Coming right up,” you told her and turned to make those up for her. You decided you didn’t want to try to get her to make another decision so you added marshmallows and whipped cream to both of the drinks, and the mini gingerbread man shaped sprinkles you had in specially for the holidays. It didn’t take long because the festive hot chocolates were all ready brewed in slow cookers in the back. You just had to ladle some into two cups and then decorate.
When she had left, you looked across at the man on the steps again, huddle against the wall at the side of the steps, trying to hide from the freezing wind. You decided what you were going to do to bring his smile back, or try to.
Without thinking about it further, you poured a massive coffee into a travel cup, put the lid on top and walked straight out of the shop with it in your hand. Less than a step out of the door, you realised that you had made a mistake. In your haste to get the coffee to him as hot as you could to try to warm him up, you had forgotten to put all your layers back on.
With the ovens and the slow cookers in the bakery, it was nice and warm in there meaning you had just been wearing your work shirt and jeans with your apron over. This did almost nothing to protect you from the wind and snow. You had made it this far however, and you weren’t one to turn around and give up, even just to grab a coat. You had to go now while there were no customers.
Walking across the square, you tried not to give away how much the cold was affecting you, walking with a straight back and goosebump covered arms not wrapped around you as you were tempted to. When you got to the steps, the guy was looking the other way, watching out for the person he was waiting for once again.
You cleared your throat, only afterwards worried that he might get his hopes up that you were the person he was waiting for finally arriving. He must have known that your voice wasn’t theirs, even just from a slight cough, however, because he looked at you in confusion, not hope, as you wordlessly held out the steaming coffee cup towards him.
“Are you some kind of angel?” he asked, only half joking as he took the cup from your hand and felt its warmth against his freezing fingers.
Scoffing, you told him, “No.”
Still looking at you with confusion and a little awe, he said, “But how else would you know how desperately I needed this? And how else would you be able to stand out in this weather unaffected by the cold dressed like that?”
Rolling your eyes with a little laugh, you explained, “I work at that bakery,” pointing across the square, “and I saw you through the window. And for your information, I’m fucking freezing.”
Just then you spotted a man walking into the bakery so you had to rush off, just saying, “Got to go,” before taking off across the square and leaving the man still in awe of how someone could be so kind to a random stranger. You didn’t even let him try to pay for the drink, which is what he was going to do next. And he couldn’t help but let out a little giggle when he saw that the back of your shirt said, ‘Angel Bakery’ on it, with a large pair of wings printed below.
Tumblr media
Back in the bakery, you kept your eye on him on the steps just as much as you had before, but now, as often as you spotted him keeping an eye out for the person he was waiting for, you spotted him looking right back at you. When you noticed that he had stopped cradling the cup you had brought him, you figured it was either empty or had gone cold. You were tempted to bring him another but you thought it had been weird enough of you to bring out the first.
Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, you watched him sit there and get colder and colder and smile less and less as he waited and waited and waited. You kept hoping that now he knew you were there, he would pop in and get another drink for himself, but he never did.
As you flipped the open sign to closed, you decided enough was enough and stormed across the square, forgetting your coat once more. This time he saw you coming and watched in confusion as you approached him then grabbed his arm and dragged him back towards the bakery, not saying anything until you were halfway back across the square.
“I don’t care who you are waiting for. I don’t care why they are so late. They can find you in the bakery.”
It must have looked funny to an outsider, you, in nowhere near enough layers for the weather, dragging the much larger man across the square behind you, but you didn’t care. You pulled him along all the way into the bakery and sat him down in a window seat.
“You can watch for them from here,” you told him. Then you added, under your breath but loud enough for him to hear, “Pabo, waiting out in the snow for eight hours. Not even wearing a proper coat.”
You were walking away at the time so you didn’t see him smile as you went to get him another drink. Even with his teeth chattering, he couldn’t hold in the smile at you scolding him like that.
When you came back to the window table, you brought two large coffees and some buns you hadn’t sold during the day and sat opposite him. You watched him, still looking out for someone, and made sure that he ate and drank so he would warm up.
The two of you chatted for hours, watching out of the window. As time went on, however, he looked out of the window less and less, spending more time looking at you as you chatted.
By one o’clock in the morning, he had stopped looking out of the window completely, just looking at you. You had told some stupid joke and it made him laugh out loud until suddenly he fell silent.
“She’s not coming, is she?” he said, tears appearing in his eyes.
You stopped laughing immediately too, shaking your head slowly and saying, “I don’t think so, no.”
He nodded, a tear escaping his eye, but he wiped it away before it was even halfway down his cheek. “Thank you for today,” he said, writing his number on a napkin with a pen he pulled out of his pocket and handing it to you. “You helped me when I really needed it, so if you ever need someone, call me.” Then he looked around the bakery. “For now, though, how about I help you lock up and I’ll walk you home.
You nodded, thinking to yourself that you might have made yourself a good friend, making up for your lack of family around you at Christmas.
AN: An artist I am not, so sorry for the rubbish t-shirt edit, but it kinda looks like what I was thinking.

Surgery - Xiumin (EXO)
Tumblr media
(For Fem Anon! ~JLS)
You have always been healthy, so finding out that your left kidney was shutting down was a complete surprise. You had sat down with your doctor, what seemed like a million times, to talk about what could be done. It was finally decided that a transplant would be done, and you were placed on the waiting list.
It’s been a couple months since this decision was made.
You are standing in the kitchen, making a cup of hot chocolate when you hear your phone ringing. You grab your phone from the counter, check the caller ID, and slide your finger across to accept the call.
“Hello?” you ask.
“Hello, Ms. ________?”
“Yes?”
“It’s Dr. Montgomery. We have received information that a kidney that matches your blood type has been donated. Would you like to set up an appointment to undergo the surgery?” Dr. Montgomery asks.
You squeal and begin laughing.
“Yes! Yes, I’d love to set up an appointment! Let me get my calendar,” you say, rushing over to the calendar on the wall. “When’s the earliest you can do the operation?”
“Let me look,” your doctor says.
You can hear the sound of papers shuffling and a chair rolling along linoleum. I a couple of seconds pass before Dr. Montgomery asks,
“The earliest is next Tuesday at 12 pm, is that okay?”
You look at the calendar and say, “That sounds perfect, thank you!”
“Perfect. I will set up the appointment. I will have my secretary call you Monday morning to tell you what you need to do. See you next Tuesday.”
“See you next Tuesday. Thank you, Dr. Montgomery.”
The line goes dead and you jot down the appointment on your calendar. You then jump around, squealing excitedly. You unlock your phone, go to the dial pad and type Minseok’s number in.
It rings once before your baby-faced boyfriend picked up.
“Hey, baby girl,” Minseok says.
“Hey! I just got some AMAZING news!” you cheer.
“What? What is it?” Minseok asks, his voice intrigued.
“I’m getting my kidney surgery done! They found a match! I’ll be going in for surgery on Tuesday!”
“Oh my God! Baby that’s amazing! I’m so happy. I’ll talk to my manager about taking off so I can come with you.”
“Alright! Thank you, Seokie! I’ll see you later. I love you!”
“I love you too,” Minseok responds, blowing you a kiss through the phone.
~~~
Tuesday came quicker than you expected and before you knew it, you were being whisked back for surgery.
You wake up post surgery and look around the blindingly white room surrounding you. You look to your right and see a very handsome man standing next to your bed.
Minseok
Your mind tells you. You’ve never seen such a handsome man in your life! Is he single?
“Are you single?” you ask, your voice slurred and tired.
“Hmm?” Minseok asks, his dark eyes meeting yours.
“Single. Are you single? Because you are the most handsome man I’ve ever seen in my whole life!” you exclaim, “No one should be this handsome! It’s il... il...illegal.”
Minseok laughs, quickly realizing that your anesthesia definitely hasn’t worn off yet. He decides to play along.
“Sadly, I’m not. I’ve got a very beautiful girlfriend named ________. She just got a new kidney this morning,” Minseok says, sitting on the edge of your bed and pushing a piece of hair out of your face.
“_______? That’s my name! What a coincidence!”
“What a coincidence, indeed. How are you feeling baby, any pain?” Minseok asks, scanning your face for any signs of discomfort.
“Baby? You just called me baby! Your girlfriend is gonna KILL me!” you say, your eyes wide in fear.
Minseok clutches his stomach as he shakes with silent laughter. He’s never laughed so hard in his life. You’re just too cute. Minseok examines you once his laughter subsides. Your white gown is just a bit too big and is falling off your right shoulder, your hair is pulled up into a messy bun atop your head, a few strands falling around your face. You’ve never looked so beautiful than in this moment.
“You are my girlfriend, baby. You don’t need to worry about you beating yourself up. I won’t let you!” Minseok says, kissing your cheek.
You get a strong whiff of his cologne as he leans in and it causes your nose to tickle. Before you can brace yourself, you sneeze and a shock of pain shoots up your back.
“Ow!” you exclaim, tears streaming down your face! “It hurts!”
Minseok jumps up and runs to get a nurse. He’s back at your side a quickly as he left it. He takes your face in his hands, smoothing his thumbs over your cheeks.
“It’s okay, baby. I went and got the nurse. She’s gonna bring you some medicine to make it stop hurting. Are you okay?” He asks, his eyes filled with worry and darting back and forth across your face.
You feel your lower lip quiver, and you sniffle.
“It hurts,” you whisper.
“Oh, baby girl!” Minseok says, laying down beside you and holding you close.
 You snuggle into him, burying your face in his neck. Minseok smooths his hand over your neck and shoulders over and over again until the nurse comes in. Minseok moves to get up, but the nurse gestures for him to stay.
“If she feels better in your arms, stay there,” the nurse says.
Minseok nods and begins rubbing your neck again. You hear the nurse tap a syringe and then you feel your eyes begin to droop. You’re asleep before the nurse even leaves the room.
Minseok continues to lay with you, gently rubbing your neck and upper back. He too feels his eyes getting heavy, and before he can pull himself up and off the bed, he’s fast asleep with you safe in his arms.
