I know some dickheads have now decided that Judaism is the "bad, violent, terrorist religion" and Islam is the "good, peaceful" one, which is only to be expected of white people, but how much of an issue is it currently? Like I've seen some USAmericans sharing how the Islamic faith shapes Gazans values and perseverance (good) except with that distinct white hippie "I'm about to imprint on this like the world's most racist duck" vibe (bad), but I didn't think they're already turning on Judaism in numbers.

Do they realize that Christianity is also the same kind of comfort to Christian minorities in Asia and Africa? That it was Buddhists that genocided the Rohingyas in Myanmar and Tamils in Sri Lanka? That Hindu fundamentalists are even now trying to ethnically cleanse Muslims in India? How Hindus and Christians are terrorized and persecuted in Pakistan? That Muslims have a history of persecuting and ethnically cleansing Jews too?

Really tired of asking y'all to be normal about people's religions man. There's no religion that's inherently violent or exceptionally peaceful. It's just like any other ideology that becomes a weapon in the hands of ethnic power. Interrogate power, not religion, and respect people's belief systems insofar as they aren't in your business.

Edit: I've amended the "long history" of Muslim persecution of Jews because it might be misleading in the current political climate. Zionism and antisemitic Arab nationalism are twin births resulting directly from Christian colonization, and Islamic empires tended to actually be more tolerant of other religions compared to Christianity, especially Judaism, which was considered a sibling religion. Antisemitism wasn't ideologically entrenched in Islamic tradition. It's simply that ethno-religious power will lead to ethno religious domination and intermittent cleansing of minorities, and Islam is no exception. Humans be humaning always.

To the person on TikTok who made the post asking, "Is there any piece of media where a character's name feels so out of place that you actually can't think about anything else?" Yes. Yes there is.

Luke from Percy Jackson. And I'm only talking about the original series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I know what you're going to say, "but there are plenty of characters with basic names too, why does his feel out of place??"

Let me tell you.

It's because Luke is a vital character to the original series, more-so than some of the other characters. When he reveals himself as the person who actually stole Zeus' Master Bolt and a loyal follower of Kronos at the end of the first book, he instantly became more important to the plot than before. He's Percy's main threat and foe, the exact person he needs to defeat, and by extension defeat Kronos in order to save Olympus.

Now, how is Rick going to name the other main characters, Percy — with his name actually being Perseus because Percy is just a nickname, Annabeth, Grover, Thalia, Nico, Clarisse, Chiron, not to mention most of the adult characters being major gods — because duh, Greek Mythology — and have the main villain be named "Luke"?

No wonder Kronos possessed Luke's body. He had enough of some basic kid named "Luke" waltzing around, preaching about how everyone should worship and join Kronos. He wanted a body to preach about himself and have people actually use his name instead of people saying "Luke" is the greatest threat when it's actually him.

It's just so funny to me. The main villain in a fantasy series centred entirely around Greek Mythology is named Luke.

Meng Po Soup's favourite flowers are red spider lilies.

Why did qaf have to be the ugliest show aesthetically ever filmed?

I've been fighting for my life trying to get a brian edit I'm working on to come together for the past week or so. I'm already like 200 steps behind when working with qaf versus any modern show not only because the quality of the episodes is obviously lesser given when it was shot but the fact that 50% of the show is off limits because it's impossible to do anything with the babylon scenes. You can't manipulate colour or blend or add overlays.

Even the simple task of getting (1) clear up close shot of Brian's face with no movement, or where his heads not cut off, or there isn't a dramatic zoom in or out is near impossible.

I mean I know it won't look as pretty as other edits because qaf is very dark and you really need bright scenes with a lot of camera shot selection which gives you choice and they filmed qaf like insane people with the strangest choices sometimes. You are very limited with what you can do. I don't even have any works I can reference from the past because people haven't made proper edits apart from basic blending as it's very difficult.

I have many ideas but when I test them out the majority of them don't work or look not great. I have 50% of it made and it's been a struggle I'm gonna see if I can finish it and if I don't fully hate I might post it or it'll live in my drafts forever.

anyway as I'm working on adding more gifs to my Quannah Chasinghorse pack, I realized that some of my gifs, while better than the original video, still wash her out a bit so I'll be editing them! And just in general, here's just a reminder that when you make mistakes, it's always better to own up to them and try to make things better rather than giving up.
