not to bring up old amd major fandom discourse but...

okay so watching the atla live action drove me back into my 2010 zutara era, and reading all that zutara fanfic made me think of klance (the other blue/red ship we should have had) so i was reading klance fic which made me realize i forgot most of the show and made me want to rewatch the show and im about to finish season 2 again and guys??? omg????

ok i was a klance girly thru and thru like everyone else but in the early seasons like 1 and 2 (and i realize what i'm about to say is blasphemous but bear with me) allura and keith had HELLA chemistry. like they had bonding moments and had like...a lot of deep talks and skinship (like the ep where they thought they were being tracked by zarkon, or the ep where allura gets over some of her galra hatred for keith's sake, etc etc) and were honestly more compelling than allura and lance or allura and shiro. maybe it's because i'm no longer a child/i'm looking at it through a more critical lens but the dynamics are totally different than what i remember in the early seasons.

OBVIOUSLY IT'S MEANT PLATONICALLY IN THE SHOW but the chemistry is real platonically or romantically. and for fandom that ships anything with a pulse, this ship really should have been more popular.

i think ppl were just so obsessed with wanting gay characters or characters with specific sexualities that they glossed over characters that had real chemistry. and only sticking to the skinny characters was whack. lance had hella chemistry with hunk and but i think y'all are too fatphobic to properly appreciate him. i blame the show for making hunk the least fleshed out of the main characters. hunk is more than comic relief!

also? y'all butchered my boy keith in fanon. he's got way more personality in the real show than in fanon, which like i understand that usually fanon characters have less personality but the difference is wild. canon keith is not nearly as withdrawn or moody as he is in fanon, he's just kind of a grumpy guy who knows what he wants and is incredibly determined to get it. he's not as emo or depressed (or repressed) as fanon makes him either

Things were okay (as much as they could be w that disastrous management team & S👁️m🔛 🐄🛎️ at the helm) within the band until mid-2014. However as you can imagine, Louis and Harry wanted something to change bc their lives were very much NOT okay. Louis brought in the Azoffs to rattle Modest’s cage and begin the process of changing things & hopefully ending 1D so L/H could move on w their lives. Enter “no chill Novemeber 2014” where Harry was out there wilding talking about how being female “isn’t that important” when looking for a partner. And Louis talking about having a girlfriend just for the winter. “First day of spring, see you later.” We assumed at the time that they were also in contract talks to extend the end of what was a 5-year contract (2010-2015) Everyone save N wanted the 5 years to be the end, but he loves money more than anything so he pulled a proper strop over the Azoffs being involved. Remember the disastrous Ben Winston interview in mid-Nov 2014 where he pushed for Louis to deny Larry but he refused? They all looked so sad that day bc they were ready for it to end but N said “No” so they had to toe the line yet again. All of this is also leading to Zayn’s departure. He left, in part, bc of Niall but that’s another story for another time.

In early 2015 the Azoffs finally helped Louis and Harry negotiate the end of 1D in a year (Feb 2016), with no guarantees they would ever get back together. Louis and Harry were DONE, as was Zayn (Liam was a bit like Switzerland in that he wanted to keep the peace). The Azoffs also played a role in allowing Lairport to happen but that’s another story for another day. And then something really, really, REALLY bad happened. Like idek how they made it through the OTRA tour with their sanity intact (no wonder they called it “Only The Real Alcohol” tour 😆). There was no coming back from that & it almost destroyed L&H as people (their relationship proved strong).

I’m not even going to get into how party-boy Louis and babygate and the beards and all the other shit that happened to Louis from late 2014 to when the band ended was 100% to protect Harry (might make another post ab that). Louis did what he could to make sure Harry was the breakout star under Azoff management (& N didn’t like that ONE BIT). So N agreed to stay w Modest & began working on his solo album to be released the same time as Harry’s. This is also why Louis didn’t drop his first album for about 2 years-it wasn’t by choice. Contractually, Harry/N went first so Louis had to wait (but imho Louis wanted Harry to go first which is another reason why he brought in the Azoffs)

There’s some kind of contract in place and/or lawyers involved regarding interactions between N & L/H. When H went to N’s concert recently? He was MADE to go (notice how he was just seen there and never interacted w N? That was purposeful). Do not think that ANY of these post-1D public interactions are NORMAL or unscripted bc they’re not.

N insists on the interactions but the rest can’t be arsed and they’ve moved on from him and 1D. There’s also some kind of blackmail going on that’s keeping H/L in the closet (& babygate continuing indefinitely). I have my guesses as to what that involves but I absolutely will not discuss it publicly.

Hey there it's Dr. Clef//Mr. Clef//Peepaw whatever yall wanna call me.

I'm a fictive of Dr Alto Clef from a source called the SCP Foundation Wiki, I highly suggest giving my personnel file a read if you'd like more base information on who exactly I am, linked for your convenience.

Now while I am a fictive, part of a DID system, I believe all my source memories are real. Everything I did, everything that happened to me, everything I saw/felt/smelled/heard/whatever- happened.

I believe in reincarnation and the multiverse. Every decision that could possibly be made every reality that could possibly exist- does!

Outside our ability to see it all going on at different times, different places, different forms of life entirely. It is infinite, and it is always. One universe a man is drinking orange juice in his kitchen, another he is a robot drinking motor oil.

Allll kinds of weird crazy possibilities.

I also believe everything is recycled. Over and over again. Including our experiences and lives. Not sure what to call it, consciousness, soul, life. But I think we get recycled over and over through different universes living different lives. When we die we just start that cycle right over again.

And when we die we forget completely about the life we have previously, stuck somewhere unimportant in our brain so our new life and new personality can form!

So what went wrong?

Why am I here? Well just to be clear as a system there is more than just me here, I just wanted my own account.

But one of the leading studies on DID in the medical community is that when you are a small child your brain is compartmentalized into all these little parts, and as you grow older (around 5-6) these parts start forming together.

However, if the child is not given the proper environment to grow those parts, they will not form together properly. Frequent/constant childhood abuse can cause those parts not to form together into one person.

I believe hiding in all different parts around the brain are past lives/memories/experiences that now all have to work together to be one person. Or better to say: work together and cohab one body.

AND SO THAT BRINGS ME TO THE MAIN POINT OF THIS ACCOUNT!

I've been around for a while, before we even know we were a system I've been remembering things and trying to keep track of them all. I have the most memories out of all of our system and I'd like to have a record of them somewhere even if out of order.

I died in my late 40s/ early 50s. Born somewhere around the late 40s or early 50s. So most of my memories take place in the 80s/90s .

While working at the SCP Foundation we had access to a lot more advanced technology than the general public has access to! Not anything you'd see in the 2020s but maybe some pieces you'd see in the 2000s/2010s.

Had close relationships with Dr. Bright, Dr. Kondraki, and a few others.

As far as I am aware, my experiences highly diverge from cannon SCP Wiki. At least anything recent.

If you had to pick a top three movies from the early 2010s that defined the era (outside of very well-known properties so no Marvel or Tangled for example), what would you pick? I know Scott Pilgrim vs the World would be on mine (I know that’s based on graphic novels but they weren’t well-known at the time). It encapsulated a lot about what would define the early 2010s to me (indie music, hipster shit, quirked up fashion, etc).

That encapsulate the era? That's a fun question. There's soooooo many. Not counting Scott Pilgrim, whoch is an excellent pick in regards to 2010, I'd also say

Maybe the Alice in Wonderland remake. I think the whole grimdark yet still colorful thing had a major impact on aesthetics of the time, plus that font was used everywhere. Also it furthered the Tim Burton obsession of that era.

The Social Network. I don't think you can get anymore 2010s than a biopic about Mark Zuckerberg with Andrew Garfield in the cast

Pitch Perfect. Do I really need to elaborate? How many people in yalls schools were attempting cups? The fashion was also VERY 2012/2011

Avengers. The MCU as a whole is very 2010s, but I think Avengers was the peak of the fanbase.

Frozen. The mania was intense and impacted all of us.

The Great Gatsby. So maybe no one else remembers this but me, but art deco and 1920s themes got VERY popular around the time this movie released

Project X or Spring Breakers. Idk which one was more popular but both of them had that early 2010s party atmosphere.

For no reason except Im stupid and have too much time on my hands.

As in. It is 5 am and I havent slept and Im not really doing anything so. I ended up looking at the things I had saved on my Facebook (most random comedy or poetry videos) and I found this picture a friend had shared a few years back that was a “Do You Remember THESE???” of YouTube videos from the early to mid 2010s.

And I was like, looking down the picture and said, out loud, “Oh! I remember these two!” and decided to look them up and rewatch them (the two videos being Butter Lover and Dirty Paws).

As Im watching them, Im going through the comments, seeing what other people have to say.

And on the video for Butter Lover, someone made mention that the characters were actually supposed to be humanized Pokémon, according to a post made on tumblr!

Which. Intrigued me because I am not great at recognizing Pokémon in the first place, so I had no clue who they were supposedly supposed to be. Unfortunately, the commentor did not link the post, or the blog. So I think to myself. “Possum? You could find their tumblr. You’re smart enough for that.”

So down I went, down the rabbit hole.

I eventually found their tumblr (abandoned) after a stupidly long time (because I am, in fact, not as smart as I thought I was) and then I had to search through their stuff to see if I could find anything on the characters.

Seeing as I didnt know the characters’ names, it took a while.

I eventually learned the characters’ names, and searched that on their blog, which ended up leading to a sideblog which I found a lil bit of fanart of the characters and some others and such, but I still didn’t have my answer of they had anything to do with Pokémon.

This, dear bloggers, is because I had scrolled too fast and scrolled right past the post talking about the characters and some other ocs that they and a friend were making a comic with.

Anyways,, long story short:

Turns out, the blue and red haired guy is named Reg and he is modeled after a Cyndaquil, and the purple haired guy is Devi and he is modeled after Gengar.

As best as I can tell anyways.

Point being, mystery solved, I still don’t know what was in that hole, and neither does the creator as they pointedly said in a response when asked what was in it, but it apparently likes butter so like… good luck Butter-Loving-Hole-Dwelling-Creature.

My hottest Jonathan Byers take as a Jonathan enjoyer is that while he has been undoubtedly sidelined. It's not like a major crime or close to character assassination. In fact I'm fairly certain the writers still have a lot of love for the character. Idk if yall remember what TV shows were like in the 2000s and early 2010s but when fans and writers didn't like a character, they'd either just die or barely get any screen time. Re-watching the show. While Jonathan isn't as prominent in s3 and 4 as he was in s1 and 2 he still always gets a storyline on his own, constantly involved in action(Him,Nancy and Lucas actually carry s3's final act action wise). S4 he doesn't get to be in much action anymore but he still gets the best action scene of the season for me and gets his own arc. I mean like can we just be honest and say he had much better writing in season 4 than Steve did. And also they had similar amounts of screentime. I thought he was the best written teenage male on the show in s4 by far. If you actually go back and watch it, he gets similar amounts of screentime in s4 to Eddie and Steve. Idk maybe I'm wrong here but I've seen writers literally kill characters, make them awful people, totally write them off the show,etc. The writers of ST have never really tried to ignore Jonathan or make him awful. They still use him a lot. S3 is a bit of an exception, not the rule. But I still think he gets great scenes in s3. Keep in mind Jonathan is also not the most popular character on the show, he's most likely the least popular lead character on the show. The writers have no real need to keep him there or give him big scenes. And this is sort of all happening while Stranger Things has an exceptionally large cast for a relatively short show. It's about 8 hours of content per season(little bit more in s4 I know) and there's about 17 leads in this ensemble. It's hard to give everyone extended amounts of time. Most shows with casts that big will have 40m X 24 eps for like 16 hours. Maybe they don't talk about Jonathan much or he's not in promotion much but even that is kinda false. While he's very tiny on the ST3 poster, he is the main money shot of the trailer for the main s3 trailer. He got his own corner! On the s4 poster, like him and Argyle got the same amount of space as Joyce,Hopper and Murray. He also was somewhat associated with a big part of the s4 iconography with Surfer Boy Pizza. I ngl thought they'd actually have him work at SBP but he didn't but it's still very much something he's associated with since it's his friend that brings it in.

For 2024, my new years wish is for millennials & older gen z to stop parroting the phrase “I hope the housing market crashes so I can afford a home” because oh my god did yall not experience the same 2007-2008 as the rest of us?

I worked as a government loan analyst for fraudulent/mismanaged home loans from the early to late 2000s housing bubble/crisis, and I hate to break it to yall (even myself) but housing issues will skyrocket further than they’re already at.

So much of the US economy is tied into home ownership, more than I thought when I first started working in the housing industry, and while we may not have the same causes (fraud) of the Great Recession, we will have similar outcomes. I.e. high unemployment, depletion of savings/investments for everyday people, houselessness, rampant credit card debt, inflation, and more. My personal prediction is investment home buying will get worse (remember house flipping in the late 00s and early 2010s?). people became predatory on those facing foreclosure, which at one point was averaged at 10% of all homes (!!!!!)

Tldr if the housing market crashes, you will lose the buying power to even be able to afford a home that lost half its value bc the economy will fucking tank like a lead anchor
