There are many other people groups living there who are equally deserving of independence.

Such as the Kurds, Assyrians, Coptic folk and others (Mandaeans, Yazidis, Armenians) who can live safely alongside them (with autonomy if necessary).

And those who oppose the mere existence of these people must do well to recognise this fact.
