Bonnie was not assigned a gender at birth but her concept of gender is so heavily based on her perception of human society and the narratives she creates around its ruins like. She is a woman by her own definition, informed by her interpretations of old human stuff, because who else could have defined “woman” for her???? Being a woman, to her, means being powerful and creative and taking care of your loved ones. Not to mention, there’s no way that little tadpole nub just grew into a human shape!!!!! She made herself look like her perception of a human woman/girl On Purpose!!!!! Gender is a puzzle and a series of observations, just like everything else about people and relationships and society. So like. Yeah when she first encountered the expectation that women/girls should have boyfriends, she trashed those magazines for her rat to shit on like any ambitious tween lesbian piece of gum would!!! But then someone she created herself reinforced that expectation, and then so did so many other people, and maybe she thought she had no choice or maybe she felt guilty or maybe she was just tired.

But again. We are all just fucking playing with little dolls in the game of life or whatever. Some more than others (……………… yeah Bonnie lol) BUT LISTEN gender is obviously a construct that we understand first and foremost through observation BUT our (or at least 20th century/PW’s generation’s) human perception of gender and the characters’ observations and interpretations do it are so goddamn important to every single character in this show. They are all performing a role and a big part of that role is gender. Once again BMO is the most flexible about this performance because BMO is the most childlike (emotionally/mentally youngest in this case bc obvs many children develop awareness and self consciousness around gender roles very very young) and therefore the least bothered by society’s expectations!!! Just like in real life!!!!

To start out, all Bonnie knows of femininity and womanhood is that mothers are women, and princesses are girls, and mothers and princesses are powerful and caring. And then she finds out that girls and women are supposed to have boyfriends, and that seems really wrong to her, but she has to be a girl/woman because she is a mother and a princess to the extent that she understands those roles!! Meaning not 100% in line with the human definition (mothers don’t raise their children the mammal way, princesses are inherently the highest rulers of their kingdoms) but rather based on her perception of it. Which like GET THIS!!!!! Our perceptions of human definitions of gender and societal roles ARE the definitions of those things!!!!!!!!! I wanna scream abt it it’s so fuckign interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway tangent but in conclusion Princess Bonnibel Bubblegum is the most transgender character ever to NOT actually have any gender assigned at birth to be transing (unless the MG whispered it to her ig) and that’s just how cool she is!!

Into the Ninjaverse: Rewritten

Good timezone, guys, gals, and everything in the beautiful spectrum~

I recently got brainrot from this idea, but after an old private discussion from someone who got interested in the AU - I realized I created too much of an overlap with the original ITSV/ATSV movies, so first let's talked scrapped/dropped/discontinued ideas for the AU!

Scrapped Concepts

~ The Ninja suit is more like the Spidersuits. I decided I had no idea what to do with this- unfortunately, I came to the conclusion to let this go. Like, it felt too much of a direct copy for one thing, and two I was running myself ragged in trying to figure out what this meant

~ Randy finding the USB? Yeah, no. I have no idea why I included that in an older post- that made no sense to me whatsover

I can't think of anything else I wanted scrapped; if you count the idea of Randy and the rest of the gang having been Spider People, then that's technically another but for now just consider it like, an AU of the AU ig?

Now comes the fun part-

Lore

I can't share everything because of spoilers, but I will share some stuff I can tell you~

The Ninja Society, which are ninjas tasked with keeping monsters and other evils from destroying the multiverse, was founded by "Nomi" and the First Ninja from E-616. Now the dimensions themselves are from ITSV but that's purely to keep myself from getting overwhelmed; Nomi and the Fin had gotten concerned following a sudden rise in problems, but the 'head honcho' - so to speak - is Nomi since Fin is technically retired.

Prior to that, the multiverse mostly kept to its own devices- not fully aware there were others, but of course - following a discovery from Nomi, this entirely changed and well, some universes were far more 'stable' than others. What does this mean exactly? Well, let’s just say, not all of the dimensions in the multiverse have happy endings. I don't know if canon events are a thing within the context of the AU, but I got mean with some of the backstories.

Monsters obviously exist around the entire multiverse and hardly any of them are spared from their influence. This will be key to the storyline later, but honestly the plot deserves its own post and once I can figure out how to do a masterlist- I'll be including it in that too!

As for the characters, I can't share too much without fully giving way the full plot but I will give credit to @thesoundofmadness because it was their Randyverse which gave me inspiration to write this.

I will be sharing more for this later but I'm going to be writing a separate post to explain something for a new blog I'm trying to make since I have no self control.

my convo with my mom went about at well as it could have. she listened to me and apologized for a lot of stuff but also like. told me that she HAS been resenting me over petty and useless misunderstandings for p much my entire adulthood 💀 im glad she took the time to hear me out but im also frustrated that she never just came and talked to me respectfully like im an actual human being. ive working on myself a lot over the years and have mostly learned to not replicate her patterns of behavior but its pretty devastating to hear her be self aware and admit "yeah i did do that shitty shitty unfair thing! you werent imagining my pent up anger at you but sincerely im sorry and i want to have a more healthy adult relationship with you." OUGH. so yeah. we made up and its a relief that she wants to try to be kinder to me. but its still frustrating to hear her verbally admit to such awful things even though i obviously knew them on some level. both things can be true ig. the reasons i never trust peoples unconditional kindness or insistence that theyre not angry with me, have now been certified true -_-;

Aha.... Buckle your seatbelts this will take a while. (TW for mentions of s*icide, s*lf h*rm and death in general under the cut. Also omori spoilers. But that's probably to be expected)

Swingset was first an idea. Probably around early 2024??? I'm not sure but!!! I didn't actually plan to write anything about it until I got the idea for it and started writing the fic my last week of school (so it updates every wednesday)

The au itself... Hhhh yeah. Basically, the incident happens as normal, but Sunny doesn't have headspace and whitespace to slip into in his mind, and is fully aware the whole time Basil is doing the hanging and stuff or Mari. Sunny decides it's for the best and kills himself, hanging himself on the same tree Mari was already hanging on only like. Minutes later. (First chapter). Basil leaves before Sunny does that so he doesn't know it happens.

The rest of the gang (+ Basil is dragged along) and they find Mari and Sunny!!!! Yay!!! (Sarcastic yay) Anyways in short they react badly but Kel probably has it the worst because he's a little delulu in this au. Basil is close behind tho.

Kel twists the incident to Mari and Sunny making a swing and. Yeah. Au name!!! He also makes up fake versions of Sunny and Mari (and also everyone else, because the group fell apart) to hang out with. In other words, Kel needs a schizophrenia diagnosis. Everyone copes horribly (Basil. Well. Self harms. And generally is probably going insane.) (Hero bedrots like in canon but longer) (Aubrey bullies Basil at first but they make up and form a sorta sibling bond!) (not gonna spoil the exact thing but Aubrey will be traumatized further)

There's!!! A lot of stuff going on. Kel has all his fake friends (before the group reunited because of a certain incident!) - and also ghost Sunny and Mari (who age like ghost Mari does in canon because i said so) exist but they're not too important outside of the good ending.

I don't keep count but i think there's a total of 8 something's total. Canon something (Mari something, Maris hanging body), Sunny something (Sunny's hanging body), canon something (Mari at the bottom of the stairs, Basil's something), Noosething (Basil's extra au something (tying the noose which leads to Sunny's own suicide), Basil something (Aubrey's extra something. Not spoiling it for now...), Kel something (bad ending) and hero's very hd quality something's (he looked at the bodies too long ig)

Everyone has the sunny and mari somethings. Basil has 4 total. Hero and Aubrey have 3 (sunny, mari, their own bonus) Kel repressed his two but they still show up in the shadows sometimes :)

Basil is. Where do i start. He actually is completely delusional. Completely. More than Kel kinda. He also hears voices. He almost kills someone trying to kill himself (spoilers), and overall almost kills himself like. At least thrice. He doesn't take care of himself. At least Aubrey's there to help!

On a sorta wholesome note, everyone gets their hair dyed!! They do it to 'help' Kel to snap out of his delusions (it makes it worse) (kel does snap out of it at some point! But it might just be too late for it by then :) )

For the fic itself it's 11k ish words and 4 chapters at the moment.???? I have 20 chapters planned total plus two bonus ones so. Ouch. that's gonna be fun to write. I take the au itself seriously but the extra drawings i do for it... Ehhh not so much.

I have this gem of a doodle (vision basil and real basil) i frankly don't remember when i drew this. I probably was half asleep and it was like 2 am.

I plan to rework the old reference sheets i have and hopefully do the fifth chapter today and tomorrow! I don't actually wanna spoil much but definitely keep an eye out for some post!!!

My opinion on the finale episodes below the cut. Obviously spoiler warning lol

First of all. I see people say it was really underwhelming and i kinda have to agree? It wasnt a Bad ending or a lazy one or whatever words have been thrown around tho imo. I feel like with all the hype about how "painful" and emotional itll be from the VA and from everyone, we all just expected more tragic outcomes or something.

I am dissappointed because of that as well. I liked how Simon finally reflected a bit and had some self awareness about their situation with Betty. I loved that he didnt become Ice King again or that they didnt do some actual time travel to "fix" stuff. I also liked that they didnt necessarily made him a bad husband (?/boyfriend?) he kinda just never realised that Betty has been putting more into their duo than he was.

That doesnt make him innocent tho b4 someone comes at me. He was a bit too self absorbed but i dont think he was entirely selfish either. He was a person who made mistakes and didnt realise them. The line where he said smt like "i wish we could have talked like this before" also makes it pretty clear to me that Betty never really spoke up about these things either. Golbetty had to make him aware and tbh? I think that was more Golb than Betty.

The whole Scarab ordeal felt a bit. Ehhhhhh I dont know. His anger reaction to things suddenly becoming "canon" (lmao) was very nice to see but him being allowed to wreck havoc like that for a good while felt more like an excuse to bring the others into this world. I dont have a problem with it btw i just dont see the point why we need Farmwold Jay and Little... I forgot her name damn. Also whys Babyworld Finn here 😭 (i get it, he was in the tank, i dont mean literally i mean Why)

As much as i was soooo mad when LSP freed the scarabs it was very in character. I like how it was a thing that he likes animals from the start so it wasnt senseless stupidity, it was something he would do even tho it was the wrong thing to do. Made me pause and lay down to stare at the ceiling in frustration for a solid minute i cant lie, still in chacter tho.

But alas. I like how in the end it all didnt turn magical (completely since ig its partially magical with Cake and everything else) and how Cake finally cooled down about the crown. IM ALSO SO HAPPY THEY KEEP IN TOUCH WITH SIMON OVER THE PHONEEE!! But yea him wanting to move was so real and I hope he does lmao he deserves it.

I only kinda wish they made him reconnect with Marcy a bit more. I am actually pretty dissappointed that we dont know if he ended up reaching out to her more or not. I understand his situation with not wanting to spook her, i actually feel that bit in a soul connecting level good god, but idk. Im at least happy he is Literally in therapy now

(Kinda makes me wonder tho if he spent the time between the end of AT and the start of FC with no like therapist or psychologist. Just rawdogging his mental illness about everything. Mood tbh but like did he? Did he??)

Anyway despite my slight dissappointment i am actually pretty happy with the outcome. I really liked the theories and the ideas of how Simon may make FC magical or what he will become but tbh this is probably the best outcome. Everyone got a happy/hopeful ending (minus Farmwold Finn ig who im atp assuming is dead. Also Star Marceline and PB) which i am really REALLY happy about.

I gotta say I already wanna write fanfic about these guys so inspirational effect granted. Woooo.

Tldr

I was kinda dissappointed because it was overhyped about how emotional it will be when it really wasnt but other than that I am really happy about how the ending turned out save for the alternatives staying in FC

Edit: I SEE PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE WHOLE SHOW DONT TELL THING AND TBHHH??? TTTTBBBHHHH??? YEAH. IT WAS ALL JUST TALKED ABOUT LIKE WHAT ABOUT SYMBOLISM? MY GOD.

1. is there a John opinion that *isnt* unpopular at this point? ermmm ig the fact that i find him more sympathetic than not? like i feel his good qualities outweigh the bad ones, or more accurately that his responses to his bad qualities make him more sympathetic in my eyes. Because i feel like he generally was pretty self aware and introspective, and i think he did have a genuine desire to be a good person. Basically i think he was struggling with a lot of mental health stuff that society at the time was not equipped to treat and accommodate properly, which obviously didn’t help him in the long run.

2. Paul’s mullet era was his best era fight me about it. also not unpopular per se but i am damn near 100% sure he and linda had threesomes with other guys. i know it happened.

3. I don’t really like Ringos acting :( this one might also not be that unpopular but uh yeah. he’s not the best actor of the group (that’s john imo) but he isn’t terrible either (paul is the worst lmfao) sorry ringo stans :((

4. Giorgio Giorgio….I guess my most unpopular take about him is that I don’t find him that attractive 💀 NOW THAT IS NOT TO SAY that i don’t think he is conventionally and by and large an attractive fellow, he very much is!! But he’s beautiful to me in the way a very lovely sky is, or a particularly lovely scenic view. Gorgeous and untouchable. he does not ignite in me the carnal flame of animalistic desire that 64-66 John does :(. or 70s paul :(. i feel very bad about it but i ofc still cherish his beautiful self 😔💕

The college au is so full of angst I’m trying o come up with fluff set after a possible „talking it out“ scenario and just love the idea of Buggy at a party with a bunch of folks he doesn’t know feeling out of his area. He’s not technically a shy guy, he’s pretty outgoing if anything actually, that’s how he met Alvida and Mohji and „Mr. Three“ Galdino and so on and so forth, but Shanks is truly just the life of the party, Shanks talks to everyone and makes them feel welcome and everyone seems to absolutely love Shanks, as opposed to Buggy, who’s keenly aware his abrasive personality scares people off unless they are forced to spend more time with him (Or if they are like Alvida and can just dish out as much as he can)

So he nurses a little solo cup on his own and stews in his misery until Shanks suddenly drops next to him onto the couch and snuggles up to him all happy and affectionate. They banter a little until someone comes in to ask Shanks if he wants to come out and play Mario Party with everyone, before glancing at Buggy and inviting him along mostly to be polite, but Shanks is just in pure affection mode all „I’ll join you guys later. Have you met my boyfriend? This is Buggy, I told you about him.“ „Yeah you mentioned you have-„ „Buggy I just got done talking to uhhh-*snap snap* Pardon me I forgot your name- but she was telling me about that makeup channel she has and I told her „My boyfriend does absolutely AMAZING special effects makeup.“ and showed her the stuff you did for my Halloween costume and she asked me where I got the coat from and I just went „Get this, he also does sewing in his spare time and-„ Just completely in worshipping boyfriend mode until the other party , obviously not interested in listening to this, excuses herself.

By the end of the night Shanks is just resting his head in Buggys lap , clearly content with himself and his place in the world while Buggy is still processing that his boyfriend loves him so much he will just introduce Buggy as his boyfriend without a second thought, something he always doubted would happen, because … he’s Buggy and who wouldn’t at least slightly cringe at introducing him because… he’s Buggy. And also that Shanks thinks so much of him he is will absolutely talk peoples ears off when he gets the chance.

Idk what kind of psychic reading shit you're doing but it's working because I'm so serious when I tell you I'm in the middle of writing chapter 7 and (spoiler alert ig) there's gonna be a party in it ahaha

Buggy went to the party only because Shanks did. In fact it wasn't just because of him, he made sure at least Alvida came as well but she canceled last minute. So now the only person he knew was his social-butterfly boyfriend.

Something odd kept on happening though. People kept on recognizing him. The first time it happened Buggy thought they would giggle behind his back or insult him, but they recognized him as "Shanks's boyfriend" and started talking about how he'd talk about him all the time.

Buggy then thought that they were saying that out of politeness, but they kept bringing up things Shanks had said and the way it sounded was almost as if Shanks was praising him. No... showing off maybe? Which was confusing for him because what was there to be proud of anyway?? Regardless, anyone who recognized him from Shanks's stories or because of how much he mentioned him, seemed to have a good opinion of Buggy. Which was enough for now.

At some point Buggy has had enough being around people and decides he needs a break. Preferably a snack break. He found the way to the kitchen and rummaging through it he finds a half eaten box of ice cream. Only problem is he needs to sneak out back to eat it or else someone might want some and he can't be giving ot charity! That's the ice cream he rightfully stole, bo one could take it from him!

So he sneaks out and Shanks somehow finds him. Shanks is a bit worried Buggy isn't having fun but Buggy is worried Shanks will eat his dessert.

They sit next to each other, staring at the moon with half a box of ice cream. After two spoons of silence Buggy finally gives in.

Buggy: fiiiiiine, I give up

Shanks, panicking that something happened and he missed it and he's too tipsy to be adequate: wh- huh?

Buggy tilting the box to his boyfriend: You can have some. You were looking for a good time to ask right?

Shanks: Well no... *takes it anyway*

Shanks: I thought you were running away to be honest... hiding...

Buggy: Running - no. Hiding - yes, this ice cream is way too good to be shared. I'm taking an ice cream break, like a snack break but better because I found this treasure *gestures to the box as if he's in a commercial*

Shanks giggles a bit. He can see the moon's radiance off his boyfriend and he feels so lucky at that moment.

Shanks: You're sharing it with me though

Buggy: You don't count, at this point you're like an extension of my own body. You're inevitable... I bet that makes you happy, huh

Shanks absolutely smittened taking about spoon: Yeah, it does.

Shanks, jokingly: I hope you never get rid of me

They finish the ice cream and dump it in a random garbage can hoping no one saw them. They also google it finding it was extremely expensive and pray to whoever's listening no one noticed them sneaking out and back in with a spoon gull of evidence.

this makes me wonder if i should leave a couple of chapters as epilogue just for fluff... I'll think about it...

Anyways real talk though I just feel like his 'jokes' throughout island and world tour (I'd say all stars but didn't watch it yet sooooo) sucked balls like,, his whole character in island was 'oooh im such a bad boy!1! I do such bad things because I'm a bad boy!1!' I mean you can have preferences towards characters but honestly I just thought of him as bland. He felt like a nothing burger to me, like him and Courtney were... ehh I dint really like it. (He didn't deserve to be in the final 5 just saying......)

And him in action was just bullying Harold and cheating on Courtney. And the whole oo I'm bad boy stuff too ig. Like. Through out action it felt like the first few episodes was him hogging on harold. I mean it's alright but I did wish he did more through out that time. And in the middle was him cheating on Courtney with gwen... like the harold situation I felt like he should've done more than THAT... and in the end he just felt like he didn't really do much other than make fun of other people and basically cheated on Courtney. That's it.thats all he did. It sucked. (Also I'm glad Beth was in the finale she deserved it)

And in world tour he was at his worst in my opinion. It felt like he did the same thing in island and action but more annoying. I can't wait untill he got off my screen when I was watching some episodes. And the whole love triangle made me hate him even more. Like he treated cheating like a joke... and to me it felt like he treated like gwen and Courtney like toys in a way,,, (Courtney deserved to kick him in the balls even worse who knows......)

So what I'm trying to say is that he's a one dimensional character in a bad way,, like I like total drama characters like that but honestly he felt so boring to watch, and also just a shitty character aswell, like I'm just saying he's unlikable. Like yeah he had some moments where he was nice but it didn't feel like much. Hopefully I'm making sense. So basically he's a boring shitty unlikable character. What I mean with she’s not like the other influencers I meant that she doesn’t commodify her life like the others, I mean there are certain influencers that literally share everything they do, including how many time they piss during the day. Okay, I think that the way that we’ve been talking maybe conflates different types of social media use so let me be more specific:

I think that being an “influencer” isn’t just type of job. A lot depends on the platform and what your “niche” is or whatever. We won’t go into the nitty gritty but suffice it to say Gabbriette is not a “day in the life” tiktok influencer who has to put out 5-8 videos a day with stuff like morning routines and evening routines. And “here’s where I went today” and “get unready with me” she’s an Instagram model. The can’t be an irl model (this is not me shitting on her btw this is just fact. She’s too short for it and stuff like that) so she had to tailor her content to that. Naturally she’s gonna post about clothes and jewelry and stuff. This is not because she understands the moral depravity of monetizing your entire existence for clicks and stuff. This is simply because she has to be brand friendly for her type of work. Brands won’t wanna work with her if she acted a certain way or posted certain types of content.

Her job hinges upon her being aspirational not relatable.

It only takes a few moments of thinking when you look at how she used to look and act during her stint in Nasty Cherry vs now. She’s just hopping on the succubus chic thing rn. Once that’s fades, she’ll hop on some other trend.

Being an IG model still depends on those qualities that I find dangerous, the foster self-centeredness, exploiting people’s parasocial relationship with her in this aspirational way of wanting to be like her so they buy her clothes off depop or buy whatever she promotes or copy her eyebrows or whatever, is extremely materialistic, and depends by and large upon being brand-friendly, being likeable (literally and figuratively, she needs people to hit like on her content), and all those gross things that make this a problematic career at best and a downright evil one at worst. Again, all which matty has come out staunchly against.

There are reasons that not all influencers are content creators and not all content creators are influencers. I’m not saying you can’t have an online presence and be a morally conscious person. You just can’t have the kind of presence that she does and be a self aware person. Most content creators who care about social economics and justice have hard lines about brand deals and what sponsorships or collabs to take and stuff like that. That’s why they can never be an influencer. Gabbriette definitely is one. She’s one that has a niche in food and fashion so she’s obviously not gonna make other types of day to day stuff. But that’s not out of the goodness of her heart that’s just how being an IG model works.

Christmas in Japan😨 god aini nor oso wouldn’t know how to function normally around all of these lovey dovey couples! Which to be clear, when someone is straight up just like 'hi, here is some cheerfully self-aware kink about breeding and shit, do not read too hard into this fantasy nonsense as a coherent narrative- we are here for horny egg laying and the implications will not be expanded on beyond that' I am usually like 'yeah cool go for it!!', lmao. Not my thing, can still go places in execution I'm like 'uhhhh think this through better please' about ofc, but like. Kink's kink, and all. Pretend adult fun times engaged in with full self-awareness are fine, a lot of the time.

My irritation really comes with when this bleeds into stuff that is taking itself seriously and is uhhhh. Not that? And there's also a lot of people who sort of do notice, but they still want to keep enjoying those things without guilt, so they try and take the underlying logics and apply them to fantasy constructs or whatever in the hopes this will make the thing they like Not Racist. (Spoiler alert: the issue is rarely who the tropes are applied to alone, and this basically never works, because humans have pattern recognition and know how analogies work.)

People like stories about Scary Barbarians, or Submissive Sexually Exotic Androgynes, or whatever. And then someone points out 'yeah but mate, those are racial stereotypes, have you heard of orientalism' or whatever, and people feel bad but they sort of. Want to keep enjoying those stories in a way that is not harmful! That strips out that element succesfully. So they try and write an alien fantasy version, but again. This doesn't actually work most of the time, tbh. Because humans have pattern recognition and the tropes, the logic underlying the ideas in the first place, are often the actual issue. Shrug.

And IMO, this is where you get 'biologically distinct races frametypes who are Just Naturally For Breeding' shit, or whatever other example I can pull out of the TF fanon hat, in ostensibly serious stories about geopolitical conflicts or serious personal drama, ones which expect you to engage with this as an actual framework for how a world could work and not just as a loose excuse for 2000 words of smut. It's not as though canon is totally immune to this to be clear- ask me sometime about how I feel about the mess that is functionism being an analogy for 48563 things, lmao- but fanon is more pervasive because you're contending with decades of this stuff being super pervasive in fandom spaces and it becoming standard for fic.
