pool/beach day w/ ellie thoughts! source of pondering: i was in the pool and am never not thinking about ellie so…this is very much insane projecting LOL. (like projecting to the level of this was literally how i spent the last few hours but am writing as if it's ellie…with creative expansions obvi.) informal format, basically just thinking and not a fr story iykwim. closer to headcanons? I DON'T KNOW JUST A SHITTY YAP OF SORTS OK. loser!ellie kindaaa, jesse cameo, teeny suggestive mentions if you squint.

pool (or beach, either work) day with ellie, how fun!! let's start with her fit. she'd wear plaid swim trunks with a sports bra style bikini top, unbuttoned short sleeve button up shirt on top when out of the water, all pieces of her outfit totally different, clashing patterns. yet she somehow rocks it. and when she's in the water, she wears swim goggles because of course. she'd love wearing her outfit, and “f-boy” coded ellie would hike her bottoms down just enough so her happy trail would peek out perfectly, because she knew all the girls would drool at the sight. you included. (who wouldn't.)
in the water however, she'd be a nuisance like none other, literally turning into a teen boy. splashing you like crazy, goofing around until there's so much water in her nose you're sure you can hear it sloshing around inside her skull. at times you'd even have to act like her mother, yelling at her to reapply her sunscreen so her delicate skin didn't burn to a crisp. she finds this absolutely hilarious.
“ellie, you're gonna turn into a lobster, get over here!” you toss the bottle in the air and catch it, a fed-up look on your face. she stands up and shakes the water off her body as if she's a dog, then strides over to you, snatching the sunscreen out of your hand. she rolls her eyes, and you can clearly hear the smirk in her tone. “ugh, sorry mom. i bet i'd be delicious as a lobster though.” she chuckles at her stupid joke, a husky “heh”, but then doubles over laughing even harder once she sees your stone-cold expression not crack in the slightest. in the most bored, deadpan voice you could muster, “you taste fine as-is, dork.” cue her face turning as bright red as a freshly boiled lobster once the rebuttal properly registers in her mind. you = 1, ellie = 0.
you'd be over there away from the water on a towel trying to get some vitamin d, or hidden away in the shade with a book and cocktail with one of the tiny umbrellas in it, but your els would want you there with her, and try to drag you in the water.
as she grabs your arm to pull you to your feet, “c'mon babe, get in. just for a little bit, how aren't you bored over there?” when you don't move, she attacks your neck with cold, wet smooches, the temperature of her lips a shock against your hot, dry skin, causing goosebumps to erupt all over. finally you'd comply, following her while she's pulling you in. “see, look how nice it is!” a grin so wide it melts your insides, you can't be mad at her, and you find a floaty to lay on. you can do some relaxation like that. but ellie, she insists to be close to you at all times, and finds a floaty to lay on next to yours. can't forget she's still holding your hand, you both look like two little otters floating down a stream, swept away on beds of seaweed, hand in hand.
as you're listening to the sounds of the water around you, the gentle rocking as a gust of wind passes by, you feel ellie's grip on your hand go limp, and you look over at her to see the fucker's dead asleep. “hey, ellie?” you ask, and are met with silence, her head lolled to the side with her mouth slightly open, she was out cold. it seems all that silly splashing around had made her tired, and that in combination with the comforting, warm environment had rocked her to sleep. you float there next to her peacefully for a short while, resting your eyes. then out of nowhere, you hear her yelp, and sit up to see that her friend, jesse, had made an appearance and threw a volleyball at her, which hit her smack-dab in the face. “what the fuck man!” he's looking smug, proud of his aim, and waves hi to you. ellie throws the ball back at him, but unfortunately she misses. and by a long shot at that, seems she was still drowsy. you're tuning them out and have returned to floating in relaxation, vaguely hearing them yelling profanities and “your mom” jokes to each other. in no time at all ellie bolts out of the water and dashes over to him, and you take a deep breath, happy to get some quiet, but also enjoying watching them from afar as they toss the ball around. ellie gestures for you to join them, to which you yell to her that you'll join in a bit, watching from the sidelines was proving to be better entertainment than you thought it would be, you loved observing her athletic form, whatever she's doing.
and so the evening continues like that, you two make it back home as it gets dark, and crash into bed immediately. bla bla bla...

yeah i dunno. had to write SOMETHING don't yell at me if it's crap idrc. ig i shall tag peeps anyway cuz that's what yall do! wrote while listening to tsp, especially 1979 which is a very summery song imo. sunset drives with friends blasting that song...UGHHHH

sneak peak at a fic i'm writing !
inspired by the fact that I just want to write something where Katsuki has piercings and every freaking time I start to write one... somehow the piercings get removed... or I just don't know how to add them without saying
HEY UA! BAKUGO KATSUKI HAS piercings.
and thats not the exact ~vibe~ i'm going for.
so this is my attempt so far. (it doesnt even get to the part where they are mentioned, smh)
i give most of my fics 'code names' while writing them and then decide on the name at the end, so for now this is: pierce. obvi somethings will probably be changed when i'm done with the fic.
enjoy :)
The slam of a door reverberated through the entire dorm, shaking walls and rattling picture frames.
Every head in the common room turned toward the source, but they didn’t need to see who it was to know. Only one member of Class 1-A possessed the strength—and sheer rage—to shake the whole damn building.
Kirishima glanced up from the couch, a knowing smirk already forming.
“Mido, looks like you’re up,” he said, his voice laced with amused sympathy.
Izuku let out a groan that was equal parts exhaustion and resignation, dragging a hand down his face.
Ever since he and Katsuki had worked out their… extensive history and rekindled a somewhat volatile but undeniable friendship, the rest of Class 1-A had taken to calling him the “Katsuki Whisperer.”
The nickname stuck like super glue.
And while Izuku secretly found a strange pride in his ability to calm the explosive blonde, it also meant he got stuck with handling him whenever the grenade went live.
Case in point: Katsuki had apparently gone nuclear. Again.
“I dunno, Kiri,” Izuku muttered. “I don’t think I can do much this time.”
“You’ve got the magic touch!” Mina chirped from across the room, grinning over her can of soda. “Just give him that voice. You know, the soft one.”
“Yeah, the calming one,” Kirishima added, his grin widening.
Izuku groaned again, louder this time. He could already feel the heat rising to his face.
The faint but unmistakable sound of blaring music began filtering down the hallway, growing louder with each passing second. Izuku’s shoulders tensed as he recognized the song.
“♫ EVERYTHING IS FUCKED, EVERYBODY SUCKS. YOU DON’T KNOW WHY, BUT YOU WANNA JUSTIFY RIPPIN’ SOMEONE’S HEAD OFF ♫”
“Yeah… definitely not going up there,” Izuku shouted over the sudden blast of Break Stuff.
“Oh, come on, Mido! He wouldn’t actually rip your head off!” Kirishima said, though his words lacked any real conviction.
“♫ NO HUMAN CONTACT, AND IF YOU INTERACT, YOUR LIFE IS ON CONTRACT ♫”
“Not helping!” Izuku snapped.
“♫ YOUR BEST BET IS TO STAY AWAY, MOTHERFUCKER! ♫”
The chorus hit like an explosion, and Izuku couldn’t help but cringe.
If that song was playing, Katsuki was definitely in a mood. There wasn’t a chance in hell anyone was talking him down—not without risking life, limb, and possibly the structural integrity of Heights Alliance.
“Come on!” Mina pressed. She cupped her hands around her mouth and affected a dramatic falsetto. “Just hit him with the classic Hey, Kacchan~ If you don’t explode Heights Alliance, I’ll give you a big fat wet ki—”
Blackwhip shot out of Izuku faster than a lightning bolt, clamping over Mina’s mouth before she could finish.
“Don’t even say it!” Izuku yelped, his face and ears turning a mortified shade of pink. He shot a glare at the fifth user in his head. Thanks for the reflexes, really.
Mina pried the tendrils off her mouth, laughing so hard she had to grip the couch for balance. “Oh, come on, you’re blushing! That’s adorable! You know it works.”
“It’s not—it’s not like that!” Izuku stammered, his voice rising an octave as he flailed his arms in protest. “And even if it was—which it isn’t—it wouldn’t work this time.”
“Why not?” Kirishima asked, looking genuinely puzzled. “You’re the Katsuki Whisperer, man! What could he be that mad about?”
Izuku sighed heavily, glancing toward the stairwell. He could tell them, but… nah.
Some truths were better kept under wraps. Especially because he didn’t want Katsuki to find out he was the one who let the cat out of the bag.

Rain World slugcat species headcanons/semi-speculative biology
Before we start: Researchers have found that all of the species studied have shown high levels of intelligence, any kind of communication they might have is their own language, they have societies and history, as well as records of their past such as carvings. No single species is dumb by any means.
Enot/Inv
Species has since been lost to time, barely any records of their society exist
The only species that can switch from digitigrade to plantigrade
Enot themself is actually named after their species for unknown reasons
Enots are suggested to feast on fungus and other bacterial mold, they are renowned for their strong stomach acid and inability to grow ill from their diet
"Paw pads" are actually used to absorb the nutrients from the ground if there is no mold or fungus around to consume
Enots are a florescent species, in the dark they glow bright neon lights. It is thought that this can be used to disorient predators when escaping
Species came far before the Skewerslugs
Enots often had a special item that they always carried on to, no matter the situation. Having that item destroyed is the worst thing that could happen to an Enot
Only species of their evolutionary lineage to have "real claws"
Communicates through screeches, yelps, giggles, and, as one researcher put it, "Haunting opera singer-esque calls that carry for miles"
It is theorized in many chats that the reason there is barely any evidence of the Enot's existence is because they too had also figured out how to ascend and escape the cycle
Spearmaster
Species is also commonly referred to as Skewerslugs
The characteristics of this species consists of elongated arms that can pop out from their sockets to elongate. This helps them swing from vines better
Skewerslugs have developed pouches on their tails in which they can quickly deposit organic spears from
These spears are hardened calcium deposits and are biodegradable
The spears can also be crushed up and turned into bone meal, making Skewerslugs excellent agricultural masters despite not being able to eat the crops they grow (With the exception of a few plants)
Skewerslugs have whiskers that are able to contract and elongate, the only species of their evolutionary line that is capable of doing this
Skewerslugs live in massive colonies of up to 50, sometimes even more than that
Skewerslugs communicate through hisses and wheezes through their nostrils
They are also capable of communicating through tap code
They consistently walk on specialized digitigrade legs, always walking and standing on their digits
Skewerslugs have no mouth, another trait that is only present in this species
Just like in game, Skewerslugs gain their nutrients by impaling the source of food with their needles and consumes the nutrients through their spears like a straw
While carnivorous, Skewerslugs enjoy using the crops they grow to garnish their foods and fatten up their livestock to make them tastier
Unknown of what happened to Skewerslugs by the time Rivulet's campaign comes around, presumed extinct or evolved into a new species
Artificer, Hunter, Gourmand, Survivor, and Monk
Referred to as we know them and their ancestors and successors; Slugcats
Species is theorized to have come from directly the Skewerslugs, although gaps in that theory are prevalent
Unlike Skewerslugs, Slugcats have a constant plantigrade stance and walk
Only species to have varied diets depending on the Slugcat
Colonies typically consist of smaller numbers
Out of all the species, they are the most diverse in terms of diets, culture, and practices
The species that evolved from them later down the line gained their special ability to retract their arms
The species has evolved to grow high pain tolerances, this is thought to be heightened due to the numbing oils that cover their bodies
It is not known if past and present species (Barring Saint's species) have the same high tolerance to pain
Communicates with a series of purrs and trills, giving reason to their name
Rivulet
Species is referred to as the Plungeslugs
Only species to have webbing between their fingers and toes
The one species who has the least amount of bones in their body, explaining their jelly-like flexibility
Tools consisted primarily of coral
Can keep in their oxygen for extended amounts of time, however bolting through the water drains their air supply
They communicate through clicks, squeaks, and echolocation. However it's suggested that they are able to mimic the sounds of other creatures in order to steal food
Colonies increased in size once more, back to the numbers that the Skewerslugs reached
When leaping out of the water at high speeds, they use their webbed hands+feet and their tail to propel themselves for longer air-time, making them appear as if they're running mid-air
Evolved from the Slugcats mentioned before, after rain fall became heavier and more frequent
Equipped with a layer of blubber, unfortunately it just makes them tastier to aquatic predators
Can easily dry out in intense heat, so they often bathe themselves in mud and even take short naps in it to replenish energy
Their webbed hands make it harder to grasp onto tools, but not an impossible task
Hypersensitive antennae that can help pick up shifts in the currents
When the weather started getting colder and colder, Plungeslugs began to evolve with thicker layers of blubber and spend less of their time in the water
Their skin slowly dried out, and from the oils sprouted bits of fur
Saint
Species is referred to as the Tundraslugs
Evolved with a thick layer of blubber and a top layer of hydrophobic fur
Communicated through grunts, oinks, and groans, although occasionally they squealed as a danger alarm
Only species of Slugcat to have fur
Furless antennae/whiskers expel excess heat
Fur has a rough, thick texture except for their stomach, which has softer and thinner fur
All herbivorous, loves berries in particular
Like their Skewerslug ancestors, they have figured out agriculture through storing the seeds of the berries they eat in their cheeks, and they spit them out into the ground
They have special saliva that keeps their tongue and antennae/whiskers from getting cold
They all have elongated tongues to reach any berries that might be high up
Their saliva helps hydrate the seeds that they plant into the ground
Out of their entire evolutionary lineage, Tundraslugs have the most bones
Like the Skewerslugs and Plungeslugs, the Tundraslugs have large colonies
To share warmth, they all gather into one big pile. Youngest and/or most vulnerable go in the middle
The most religious species of Slugcat
They are also excellent philosophers, wondering of their ancestry before their time and how the world came to be, they ponder the nature of ascension

Marshsong treaded along the pathway, creeping as silently as he could through the territory. He had been breaking the code- for longer than he’s even been a warrior. He felt guilt, of course he did, but the feeling to do what he believed in and show defiance out from the code overrode his guilt in more ways than one. He slid and scooted across the dirt, making his way through brushes and tight ways- before coming to a quick halt at a sudden noise. marshsong stood there for a bit, his ears flickering as he looked around for the source of whatever made the sudden jolt of sound. . .
“boo!” A flash of yellow-ish and white fur appeared at him from above, and he knocked back with a yelp.
“quietlark.. you piece of fox-dung.” Marshsong grumbled, getting back on his paws and shaking his head with annoyance. “Did you see the look on your face?” Quietlark snickered, not even trying to hide her amusement. “You jumped back like 50 feet! Ha!” She snorted, as marshsong rolled his eyes. “Your not even apart of the midnight patrol, what are you doing out here?” Marshsong scoffed, lifting himself off his tail as he continued walking- in a small attempt to get away from her. “coldstar has me investigating the borders, says theres been more rogue breaches than usual. You know he's talking about making me deputy.” Quietlark smirked, walking quickly to catch up.
“You? Deputy? Is he nuts?” Marshsong asked. “You don’t have a responsible bone in your body.” He remarked, which earned him a swat on the face, playful at most. “You’re just angry he wouldn’t even think of putting you in such an important role. He wouldn’t even think of putting you in charge of watching a mouse.” She snickered, watching as his nose scrunched in annoyance. “Why did your mom give you first name ‘quiet?’ You are anything but.” Marshsong retaliated. “I know why your mom called you marsh, you certainly smell like one.” Quietlark teased back.
“i dont have time to play back-and-forth with you, i need to get on my rouge-hunting-duties.” Quietlark said, prancing ahead. “Do you even have a lead? Or are you just following blindly?” Marshsong questioned, watching as she proudly walked with her tail in the air, her confidence loud in her stride. She looked back at him, taking a sniff in the air. “You kidding me? Dirt-place is right next to the junkyard, which, if you were actually educated, you’d know is CRAWLING with rogues.” She said, pointing towards the distance with her nose- north. The direction of the junkyard, it sat just outside of iris-clan territory and had recently begun encroaching on owl-clan territory.
”the rouges need some place to stay and eat too. We cant just drive them out- its cruel.” Marshsong argued. He had always felt sympathy for the rogues, they seemed cruel and barbaric, but he didn't think that even mattered. They were animals just like him, just trying to survive- just trying to raise families.
“Well so are we. We cant afford to let others chow down on our food when we have so many cats to feed. We have to put the clan first, thats the code.” Quietlark looked back, watching as he padded forward to catch up with her. Marshsong shook his head. “We don't owe anyone anything.” He said. “we owe the clan everything.” Quietlark said quietly. “Don’t speak like that.” She lightly chastised, a bit annoyed by his words of disloyalty. The air felt silent, as they walked through the dark woods. Marshsong understood her loyal, but he understood the rogues as well. The words he had exchanged, the feelings he felt for aspen overrode his loyalty to the clan, to coldstar or even starclan themselves. He knew it was wrong in the eyes of others, but it felt right to him, and his heart.
Quietlark paused, and let out a low whistle as she ran into the bushes at the sound of approaching figures. Marshsong quickly leapt in with her. “We got our suspects.” She smirked. Marshsong let out a shaky breath, hoping it wasn’t a pissed-off owlclan patrol or a group of rogues or.. aspen, in their usual meeting spot. He watched from the bushes as the three cats approached, his nose filled with the familiar scent of rogues, and… aspen, as he had dreaded. His ears flickered as he attempted to listen to what they were saying..
“man, these clan-scumbags get all the good food. Why aint we just take it all already? We got the numbers. Aint we?” The little white on to the left was talking to a large, black cat which centered in the middle. “Because.” The black cat responded calmly “we aren’t the group that has a whole COUGAR leading one of their clans. GENIUS.” He smacked the small white cat atop the head. “Geez, trashbag, no need to get all violents.” The white cat rubbed the top of his head. “his.. name is trashbag?” Quietlark questioned, trying not to snicker. Marshsong glared at her with a ‘shhhh’
“Whose out there?!! Show yourselves!” The voice of the tiny white cat rang out, “egg! Shut. UP. You are going to scare away ALL the food!” Trashbag snapped. Quietlark leapt out the bush at the drop of a hat. Marshsong quietly groaned in annoyance and followed, showing himself
“Stop. You are officially on Iris-clan territory- Mr.. trashbag.. uhm.. egg..” quietlark couldn’t help but contain her laughter at their names. “And- and you.” She pointed to the orange cat- aka, the cat marshsong was avoiding eye contact with, aspen. “let me guess. Cheeto puff? Oh- wait, wait, traffic cone?” She mocked. The orange she simply glared and replied with, “aspen.” Her voice was cold as she corrected the other she-cat. “your names don't matter. You're all officially on iris-clans land, and if you don't leave me and my partner here will be forced to remove you with all means necessary.” Quietlark stood tall, though she did not compare to the height of trashbag. “oh yeah? And what are you going to do if we dont?” Egg asked, leaning in. Marshsong assumed they had no knowledge of the clans alliances, so he quickly stepped in. “If you harm us- then coldstar will alert sageclans leader.” Marshsong threatened, and the three just blinked at him. “Uhm.. the cougar.” He corrected himself, and egg yelped. “Trashbag! They’ve got the cougars!”
Trashbag evaluated his decision, before grumbling and turning over. “This aint over, you code-lovin scumbags. One day we’ll have a monster bigger than your dumb little cougar, and we’ll see who really rules the territories then.” Trashbag growled, before fully turning his tail and leaving. Egg skittered by him, and aspen gave marshsong one last silent glare before turning her tail and leaving. “wow. That orange one REALLY hated your guts.” Quietstar teased, shoulder-bumping him. Marshsong just sighed.
“cmon- lets get back to camp and tell coldstar what we saw. Ive GOT to tell him about these names.” Quietlark exclaimed, before grinning. “Race you!” She suddenly sped off, and marshsong was left with no choice but to chase after her.

6 Tips for Finding the Hardwood Flooring Installers Near Des Plaines
Hardwood flooring is one of the most elegant, durable, and value-adding improvements you can make in your home. Whether you're renovating a single room or upgrading your entire living space, professional installation is essential to achieving lasting results. If you're located in Des Plaines, Illinois, you're in luck—this vibrant suburban community offers a variety of skilled professionals in the flooring industry.
However, not all flooring installers are created equal. With countless companies advertising their services, homeowners must do their due diligence to ensure they’re hiring reliable, experienced, and customer-focused contractors. In this article, we’ll explore six essential tips to help you find the best hardwood flooring installers near Des Plaines.
1: Start with Local Research
The first step in finding the right installer is to focus your search locally. Hiring a flooring professional from the Des Plaines area means they’re more likely to understand regional building codes, flooring trends, and even climate considerations that can affect hardwood floor performance.
Why Go Local?
Quick Response Times: Local contractors can often visit your home faster for estimates or follow-up appointments.
Community Reputation: Local companies tend to rely on word-of-mouth and reviews from area residents.
Knowledge of Area Homes: Many homes in Des Plaines have similar layouts or foundation types, so local installers will know how to tackle recurring issues.
Where to Look:
Google search: “Hardwood flooring installers near Des Plaines”
Yelp or Angi (formerly Angie’s List)
Facebook local groups and community boards
Recommendations from friends and family
Make a shortlist of 4–6 companies that stand out in your initial research before diving deeper.
2: Verify Licenses, Certifications, and Insurance
Any professional hardwood flooring installer you hire should be fully licensed and insured. In addition, look for certifications from reputable industry organizations such as:
National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA)
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
Certified Flooring Installers (CFI)
What to Ask:
Are you licensed to operate in Illinois?
Do you carry liability and worker’s compensation insurance?
Are your installers trained and certified?
Having the proper credentials demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and a commitment to industry standards. It also protects you from liability if anything goes wrong during the project.
3: Review Portfolios and Past Work
Any reputable hardwood flooring contractor near Des Plaines should have a portfolio of completed projects. Whether in digital format or as a photo gallery on their website, this portfolio provides visual proof of their skill and quality.
What to Look for in Their Portfolio:
Before and after photos of flooring projects
Variety in flooring types (e.g., solid hardwood, engineered hardwood, exotic woods)
Neat and seamless transitions between rooms
Creative layouts and patterns, like herringbone or diagonal planks
Bonus Tip:
Ask if they have completed any projects in neighborhoods similar to yours or in historic homes—this shows adaptability and experience with unique flooring needs.
4: Ask the Right Questions During Consultations
Once you’ve narrowed down your list to two or three companies, schedule in-home consultations. A face-to-face meeting gives you a chance to assess their professionalism, communication style, and attention to detail.
Key Questions to Ask:
How long have you been installing hardwood floors?
What types of hardwood flooring do you specialize in?
Can you help source the flooring material or should I purchase it myself?
How long will the installation take?
What kind of subfloor preparation is required?
Do you offer a warranty on labor and materials?
What to Observe:
Do they arrive on time and respect your space?
Are they able to explain technical details in a clear way?
Do they provide a written estimate or contract?
Installers who take time to educate you and answer your questions will likely offer high-quality service and stand behind their work.
5: Check Reviews and Ask for References
Online reviews and direct testimonials are gold when evaluating flooring installers. Check platforms like:
Google My Business
Yelp
Angi
Thumbtack
Houzz
What to Look For:
Patterns of positive feedback about cleanliness, communication, and craftsmanship
Mentions of long-lasting results and quality
How the installer handles complaints or issues
Don’t Forget References:
Ask for 2–3 recent customer references. When you speak with them, inquire about:
Their overall satisfaction
Any delays or issues
How the contractor resolved problems
Whether they’d hire them again
A trustworthy flooring installer near Des Plaines should be more than willing to provide these references.
6: Compare Quotes, but Don’t Automatically Go for the Cheapest
Once you’ve gotten quotes from your top contenders, it’s time to compare—but don’t make the mistake of choosing based solely on price.
Evaluate:
What’s included in the quote (material, labor, prep work)?
Is the contractor using high-quality adhesives, underlayment, and fasteners?
Are they subcontracting the work or doing it in-house?
Is there a warranty included?
Red Flags in Low Bids:
No breakdown of labor vs. materials
Vague timelines
Pressure to pay upfront in full
Lack of written documentation
Choosing a contractor simply because they’re the cheapest can often lead to poor results, costly repairs, and disappointment down the line.
Bonus: Top Traits of the Best Hardwood Flooring Installers Near Des Plaines
To wrap it all together, here’s a list of qualities that define a top-tier installer:
Transparency in pricing and project scope
Experience with various wood species and layouts
Cleanliness during and after the job
Strong communication skills with timely updates
Reliability in keeping promises and deadlines
Positive reviews across multiple platforms
Conclusion
Finding the best hardwood flooring installers near Des Plaines doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With a strategic approach—starting with local research, verifying credentials, checking past work, and comparing offers—you can confidently choose a professional who will transform your space with skill and care.
Your floors are the foundation of your home’s style and comfort—literally and figuratively. Don’t leave the job to chance. Invest time in finding an expert you can trust, and you’ll enjoy the benefits for decades to come.

Roddy's Ghost Adventures
The Rake: This is the first video Rewind stumbled across after finding something called "The Dark Web" when searching for media for his crew mates. The video is distorted, corrupted, everything inside it is hard to make out or understand. All Rewind can gather from the feed is the panicked screaming of a human and glowing, yellow eyes. He does his best to clean up some of the feed but there are strange viruses lurking in the coding Rewind doesn't want to get anywhere near. He thinks he sees a forest, a house in the background, and a sign reading "Warren Park Trail, Montana." Then the video just ends. Abruptly. He took a moment to contemplate the recording before reading the caption.
Locals spoke of a creature known as "The Rake," a nightmarish being with sunken eyes, elongated limbs, and razor-sharp claws.
Legend had it that "The Rake" was once human, transformed by dark experiments or supernatural forces. Its first recorded appearance was in the late 1800s when it stared hauntingly at a family before vanishing into the night.
As years passed, more encounters were reported, each describing the creature's ability to appear and disappear, leaving behind an aura of dread. Witnesses spoke of its featureless face and guttural noises, claiming that even a brief encounter could plunge a person into madness.
Rewind snickered. This was ridiculous. They'd been on and off earth enough times they would have known if there were any humanoids outside of humanity by now. Some sparkling humans must have just gotten bored.
He ignores the twinge of discomfort ringing in the back of his processor and shuts his vocalizer off just in time to stifle the high-pitched yelp clawing up his intake when a bright yellow hand lands on his shoulder.
"Hey Rewind, whatcha got there?" Rewind turns his helm to stare up at his captain. Slowly, a smile spreads his lips behind his facemark. Oh this.....this will be good.
Log 1
Bots along for the ride: Rewind, Rodimus, Drift
Location: Warren Park Trail, Montana
Subject of interest: Urban Legend - The Rake
Notable Mentions: The air here seems....heavier. Shadows seem to somewhat defy sources of light. Rodimus has taken it upon himself to "Flame up" so everyone can see where they place their pedes. Drift's headlights help but they don't seem to penetrate the strange blanket of darkness. Walking around tonight in search of this legend has proven fruitless. Perhaps this is the first he can strike off the list? He will have to wait till they were back on ship and he had a moment to himself before he can review the feed. He's going to have to do a lot of tweaking before the video is comprehensible.

Here is the rendered photo without the drawn on Video Cam.
This is the first installment of my new mini-series. I am so excited to finally post this, I've had the rendered photo done for a while now and was just waiting on myself to finish up the companion comics.
This literally was entirely inspired from solely two things.
1.) As I was sketching Roddy for practice, the song "Dumb Ways to Die" came up on my for you playlist on Spotify. This kinda put in a little seed of sorts.
2.) My brother is starting to get into art and we often go to the cafe together to practice. It's great being able to have a critique buddy right there as you're working together. On the day after scenario 1, him and I went to the cafe and I had been practicing landscapes. My intent had been to make a fairytale like environment. I showed him, we looked at each other, and both stated. "Yeah that's haunted." It's like a light bulb went off in my head. A very very insistent light bulb.
And thus, "Roddy's Ghost Adventures" has been born! Stay tuned for future installments~

Chapter 6: Sparks of the Future
"Let me out!" I begged as I slammed my fists against the bars of my cell. "Please! Just let me out! You can't do this!"
"Shut it, you!" The prison guard barked as he jabbed me through the bars of with a shock rod, electricity pouring into my frame and causing me to yelp out in pain. "You're lucky the Magnus is even letting your sorry paint job live!"
The guard yanked the rod out of my frame, and I crashed to the floor like a sack of energon cubes, my seams hissing with smoke from the electrical shock I received. The guard then jabbed me again, causing a shriek of pain to rip through my voice box once again.
"In fact, I'm gonna make you WISH he hadn't!" The guard opened my cell and proceeded to beat the ever loving slag out of me. The entire time, I would try and fight back only to get put back to the floor with the shock rod. I ended up completely giving up to the beatings and laid limp on the floor. Small drips of energon leaked from my intake and down my dermas, eventually making contact with the floor with light drip sound.
When the guard was done thrashing me about, he left and re locked my cell with a disturbing grin on his face.
"Oh, by the way," he said. "Megatron says hello." Before I could respond, the guard turned and left, leaving me alone in the dark prison.
'Primus... have mercy...' I thought to myself as I slowly and shakily pushed my frame back upright, stumbling a little in the process. 'I... I don't know what... what they are telling me....' I limped over to the recharge slab that was bolted to the wall, carefully maneuvering my now battered and beaten frame onto it with my back facing the bars of my cell. 'But... but i.... I can't... be who they... they claim I am...' I curled up tightly and allowed my optics to close.
"Primus... if you can hear me... please... they need to know i... I'm innocent." I quietly prayed.
But deep down, I knew that was a lie, yet I couldn't give anyone a reason for it. All I felt was guilt.
I ended up drifting into recharge, and in my dreams, I saw disaster and chaos. Thousands laid strewn dead across a battlefield and in the center stood Megatron with a cold and sadistic smile on his face.
In his grip was a glowing crystalline gem that seemed to hum and pulse like a thousand sparks all in unison.
'Help us.' I heard the gem whisper in many voices. 'Find us. Save us.'
The dream then changed to what looked to be a staging area for a siege outside of where I knew the Well of Allsparks was located, most likely outside of Crystal City.
'They will find us! They will hurt us! Hurry! Please!'
I jolted awake with a gasp and an overwhelming sense of dread crossed my spark like a shard of ice. A dread one should never ignore. A dread of the end.
"Gotta... gotta get outta here." I whispered to myself as I shakily pushed my frame upright. "Gotta... get to... the Allspark."
-with Ratchet and the others -
"And you're saying this data just straight up appeared?" Ratchet asked with a cocked optic ridge.
"Yeah and?" Pharma huffed. "It's still information that is evidence and support for Y/D's deactivation." Pharma then turned to the Magnus with a stern look. "You need to have him terminated."
"Not until this information is traced back to the source." Ultra Magnus said firmly before motioning for Wheeljack. "Wheeljack, can you run a trace in the data?"
"I can try." Wheeljack said as he went over to Pharma's work station and began running various lines of code in order to find where the data came from. "My question is why someone would send this in the first place?"
As if on queue, an alert popped up on a nearby workstation, then another, and another. Alarms began to blare, and lights flashed wildly, surprising the group of Autobots.
"To distract us from that!" Ratchet said as he pointed to the alert. "The security system for the brig has gone offline. Y/D isn't the only Decepticon down there!"
-with Y/D-
"There..." I murmured to myself as I retracted my probes from the wall, the bars to all the cell doors in the brig dropping and releasing everyone inside. "I'm sorry, my friends... but this is necessary."
"Hey! We're free!" One of the other Decepticon prisoners exclaimed.
"Go go go!" Another one yelled. The next thing I knew, Decepticons of all shapes and sizes were making a break for it. At the same time, swarms of Elite Guard came rushing in.
Battle broke out, and I did the best I could to dodge and weave through the chaos. I eventually made it across the prison and towards an emergency exit that led directly outside. Once I went through that exit, I quickly made a beeline for my best route to Crystal City.
That route being an Autobot space bridge.
"Almost there." I said to myself as I stumbled over and quickly hijacked the controls. "Just gotta enter the coordinates -"
"Hey! There's one!" A guard yelled.
"Scrap!" I cursed to myself as I saw the guard and a few others running down towards me. "Hurry, hurry! Cmon, cmon!" Suddently, the space bridge fired up, and the glowing swirl of color roared to life. "Yes!"
"He's getting away!" The guard yelled. I quickly dove on through the bridge and tumbled out the other side, the bridge closing shortly after and preventing the guard from following.
"Too close." I panted as I shakily looked about. I somehow emerged right inside of the walls of Crystal City rather than through another space bridge. I didn't have time to ponder the oddity of that. I needed to find the Allspark.
I dove into the alleyways and weaved through the Autobot city, taking extra care so as not to be spotted by the passing of guard and civilians. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, the injuries I gained from the guard who beat me started to take its toll once again.
I ended up slumping in one of the side alleys, my vents heavy and straining from the pain.
'Dammit.' I thought to myself. 'Can't... can't keep moving... but... but I gotta.' I looked over to my wings and stared at the bold violet insignia that adorned them. I then proceeded to scratch at them, drawing thin streams of energon to the surface with each mark until the insignia was barely visible. I did the same to the other side, effectively solidifying my abandonment of the Decepticons. 'There... that way if I am found... they'll think I'm neutral. Hopefully. Primus....'
I ended up falling into a light recharge in that alleyway. But it wouldn't last very long as the sound of combat would reach my audials and awaken me from my slumber.
'Dammit!' I thought as I saw several autobot soldiers and guard rush down the streets with weapons in hand. 'I've gotta move my aft! But... where do I go?'
I felt a tug on my spark as I thought this as if the Allspark itself were calling me, and I knew I had to trust it. I followed the pull through various backways and hidden alleys until I came across a strange structure nestled out of sight.
It had a large doorway with intricate designs carved into it that seemed to glow and hum with raw energon crystals. Hesitantly, I touched the designs, and they lit up like the night sky. The doorway cracked and ground as it slid open, exposing a long and dark hallway with streaks and swirls of light lining the sides. Cautiously, I entered and continued to trust the pull I was feeling on my spark, unaware that a few Autobots and a certain medic were following not far behind me.
"What is he doing?" Pharma whispered to Ratchet as he, the medic, and a few Elite Guard quietly followed behind just out of audial shot of me.
"I... I wish I could tell you." Ratchet whispered back.
"Sir, should we take him out?" One of the guard asked as he aimed a rifle at me.
"Not yet." Pharma said. "Let's see where this... thing is going."
"He has a name." Ratchet scolded. "Use it."
They continued to follow me through the maze of tunnels and passageways that seemed to go deeper and deeper underground until they came to a massive, almost cathedral like space with statues and ancient carvings lining the sides. A line of crystallized energon ran forward to a large, circular basin where the gleaming light of the Allspark was hovering above like a beacon.
"Is that...." one of the guard whispered.
"The Allspark?" Another said.
While the group were gazing in awe, I had managed to sneak around and behind them with my probes ejected. I knew what I had to do, and I didn't want to do it.
"I'm sorry." I whispered.
"Did you hear that?" Pharma said before I drove the probes into his back and forced him to shut down. His frame crashed to the floor, and the pair of elite guard and Ratchet whipped around to see me towering over them. I quickly gave the two guard the same treatment before they could act.
"Y/D wh-," Ratchet started to say before I stopped him.
"They will be fine. Get them out of here before the Decepticons come."
"Kid."
"There's no time! Megatron is here, and he wants the Allspark. I have to get it out of here." Ratchet studied my face and saw there was no falsehood in it.
"Be careful."
"Till we meet again, my friend." I said with a small smile. "And... thank you for your kindness."
I quickly rushed over to the basin and leaped up into the air, my servo making contact with the Allspark as I grabbed it from the air. I felt a surge of power rush through me, and the cathedral cracked and ruptured open. Bits of plating melted and formed into a sort of canister that morphed and molded around the Allspark. I gripped the handles and soared out of the now gaping ceiling, my goal one location and one location only.
The space bridge.
Time seemed to blurr as I used whatever energy I had left to fly as fast as i could towards it, the great gateway igniting to life just before I crashed into it.
I was launched into a void of color, the bridge collapsing and exploding behind me. My systems began to shut down in this place, and I heard the Allspark one last time before entering a deep and death like stasis.
'Sleep, Allspark Guardian.'

Forever Clockwork
I know there's been a lot of Arlong simping on my Tumblr lately (and that is continuing!) but in the meantime I interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you some Dr. Wily simping. Arlong x Reader was the first reader fic I wrote, and now I wanna write about another villain getting some love. Link to AO3 as well as the story itself available under the cut. Please enjoy this beautiful Wily picture from @jennoirwolf and some beautiful Gigamix Wily. And yes, the second image is the same picture as referenced in the first chapter of the story.

Forever Clockwork
Dr. Wily x Reader
I used multiple sources of canon for this – the games, comics, anime, TV series, and manga, so you can imagine whatever version you like, though my favorite visual of Wily is from the Mega/Gigamix manga (now that’s a silver fox!)
This story is set after the Stardroids arc (after Megaman 7 video game-wise)
Megaman does not belong to me and is the property of Capcom, Archie Comics, Hitoshi Ariga, other license holders/copyright holders, etc. Feedback is much welcome and appreciated.
I
o0o0o0o
You were one of Wily's students when you were at university. You considered yourself blessed that your last few years of pursuing your degree placed you under the tutelage of the illustrious Drs. Light and Wily. You were a great admirer of their work and ever since you were a kid, you'd always liked tinkering around with various machines, from helping your grandfather with his car to writing code for various projects.
You'd made your way through high school, winning several respectable scholarships that got you into the prestigious university that, at that time, had both of these famous doctors on their faculty, since the doctors had their lab not far from the school.
Dr. Wily was known to be the tougher of the two, but you still considered yourself lucky to be his student, and you’d learned so much from him. Already, even before the first line of Robot Masters was finished, Wily was known as a bit of a troublemaker, but you liked that.
However, you didn't think he would go so far as to steal a whole line of Robot Masters and let them go on a rampage. And then create his own lines of Robot Masters, and then steal them from others like Cossack. It seemed like Wily had a one-track mind as you watched him from afar while advancing through your career. Sometimes though, you wish he hadn't disappeared like he did. He'd gone rogue not long before you graduated with your master's degree.
You'd tried a few different fields before settling in your current one, but you were feeling increasingly dissatisfied with your work for a company that specialized in private, personalized robots. And as you'd come to see, a big part of that was essentially companion bots. Specs would be customized depending on the type of companionship the client was seeking. Sometimes you rolled your eyes when you went over an order, but a job was a job. As much of what you did involved putting together hardware, you could spend long days – or nights – at the company lab. Then you'd drag yourself home. You've tried having a social life, but you have a pretty low social battery.
You plopped down on your armchair after a particularly stressful week. Perhaps it was time to consider a job change. You already had a solid resume, so you were confident you could find a job elsewhere Stretching out your arms, you see a shadow move, and give out a yelp, thinking you’ve surprised a burglar.
It reveals itself to be a robot – no, a Robot Master. Given that you study the Robot Masters others make, you quickly recognize a Wily number – DWN-024. Shadow Man. You stare at him as he inclines his head in a bow, the shuriken on his forehead flashing for a brief moment as it reflected your lamp.
“Doctor Y/n Lastname?" he asks. You're certain he knows perfectly well who you are, but this is a gesture of politeness. Already you find this robot charming. You nod in affirmation, your interest piqued. "I have been sent by Dr. Wily to offer you a job."
Holy fuck. You’d been seriously considering a job change, and one just fell in your lap! And from Dr. Albert Wily, of all people! You didn’t admit it to others, but you continued to follow his career even after he went rogue. And you most certainly didn’t admit that you had a crush on him back then, and still did. He had that silver fox appeal, after all. You stare blankly for a few seconds.
“Are you all right?” you hear the robot ask, and you turn your focus back to him.
“Yeah, yeah. It's just… I mean, I didn't expect to come home to this, you know? I'm not trying to be rude, you just caught me off-guard…!" You let out a nervous laugh. You take a deep breath, collecting yourself. So Dr. Wily wants you to come to work for him. It wouldn't be the first time he's worked with other people, although that didn't always work out for the best. So there's a lot to think about. You haven't built your own Robot Masters like Dr. Cossack or others did, so you have no robots to steal.
You look at the robot. He is a sophisticated piece of work, and your experience tells you that if you were to open him up, you’d likely find a design more sophisticated than whatever your current employer could offer.
“Do you need more information?" Shadow Man asked. You shrugged and nodded, and he rattled off a few things such as labs and equipment, amenities, and such. It actually sounded pretty nice, and certainly didn't sound like an offer that would be made to someone Wily intended to kidnap. You stroke your chin… are you seriously fucking contemplating joining forces with a mad scientist who keeps trying to take over the world?
“How is he?” you ask the robot. It dawned upon you that Dr. Wily must be listening to this conversation. The robot is silent for a moment, almost as if he’s listening for something.
Aha. Wily old bastard.
“You may see for yourself in person. If you accept, of course.”
You're tempted to call out your old mentor. But you smile and shrug. "Well, I would like to see how my old teacher is doing," you say, offering no commitment to the mil ob proposal. You offer Shadow Man a smile, fairly certain that he's video-recording you too. The smile isn't fake, though. You're secretly thrilled at the idea of seeing him again.
The robot offers his hand, and you take it, wondering how much of a gamble you’ve just endeavored on. Fortune favors the bold… at least, you hope.
You blink as you enter a well-appointed lab, and for a moment panic as you wonder if you should have put on some fresh clothes, the robot did sort of ambush you when you'd just gotten home from work… Just as you think to run your finger through your hair to try to look a bit nicer, your heart skips a beat as you see your old mentor.
He looked a few years older, but he was still as much of a silver fox as ever, a handsome sight in his dark clothing that was contrasted by his white lab coat and skeleton-themed tie. He approaches you, arms spread out in a gesture of welcome, like a host receiving a guest. It almost looks like he’s offering a hug. You wish…
“Welcome to my humble abode, Y/n,” he says. “Or would you prefer Dr. Lastname now?” he adds with a small smirk before he offers his hand for you to shake. You take it quickly, feeling the wiry strength in his grip.
“I’m fine with Y/n, though considering this is a job offer perhaps I should go by my professional name…” you shrug. “I can't believe I'm here. After you disappeared…" You shake your head. "I didn't think I would see you again. And believe it or not, I was a little disappointed at that thought."
You try to not blush, hoping he doesn’t read too much in your slip.
“You missed me?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Oh, crap. He read you like an open book. Play it cool, play it cool. You shrug and offer a small smile. “What can I say, you were my favorite teacher.”
He grins at that, and you feel your heart fluttering as if you were a silly little schoolgirl. Why the hell does this man have that effect on you? And despite the questionable morality of many of his actions, you do admire his moxie. He’s a stubborn old bastard, and you have to admit his plans for world domination suit him better than the standard mid-life crisis.
None of this means you’re not nervous around him. If you’d not wanted to come here, would he have kidnapped you?
That wouldn't be so bad if he treated you like a princess or something, right? Hah. Damn, you still do have that crush, huh?
“I know a lot of the students thought I was a bastard, so that’s refreshing to hear.”
“I don't know, many of the times you tore into someone, they deserved it, and it was entertaining to watch." Schadenfreude and all that. He laughs at that, and leads you down the building, passing a few robots at work and the like. The space has a lot of the things you'd imagine Wily to have, and you're not disappointed in the setup. It could be a lot of fun to work here… if you're willing to put yourself on the Most Wanted list.
Wily’s POV
It was nice seeing Y/n again. Y/n had been his favorite student and he had considered recruiting Y/n when he’d gone rogue back then. But she was so young and full of potential. He knew he was going on a risky path, and hadn’t wanted to drag her down with him. Oh, it was bloody tempting, though!
But now, she was old and experienced enough, and it seemed that one of his predictions about her had proven correct. She was bright and might not be satisfied in the usual industries that called for expertise in robotics, regardless of how well the job paid. If he was wrong and she eventually found something that made her happy, then good for her. But over the last decade, she'd bounced through several high-paying jobs. And well, he would be lying if he said he didn't find her attractive. She'd been pretty cute, in a nerdy chick way back then, and she still rocked the vibe pretty well. She trailed behind him, glancing over his projects and experiments with a knowing scientist's eye and curiosity.
“Oh hey, that’s neat that you have that picture,” she said as she gestured to a picture on the wall. Granted, it was a copy, but it was one of his favorite pictures, and added a nice touch to his workspace. She gave his tools a respectful berth as she approached the desk, looking at it. A young Dr. Light and Dr. Wily were standing with their first AI project, their arms crossed and up in the air in a symbol of triumph.
“It’s a pretty great picture, isn’t it?” he asked.
“Hell yeah.”
He laughed at that and continued along. He was not stupid enough to think there wasn't a possibility of her coming here just so she could try to steal something. She kept switching jobs, didn't she? Though he had to admit, if she turned out to be a thief, he'd be disappointed. No one was perfect, but surely she respected him too much to do that to him, right?
It was nice listening to her as she asked a question about this or that, and the way she asked seemed genuine, instead of someone digging around for information.
o0o0o0o
The picture you just commented on is a pretty famous one. It’s iconic in the robotics community given the work that Drs. Light and Wily did for science. Both of them were quite good-looking, but you think Albert has aged better than his old friend. And well, maybe that picture is what you use as the screen on your smartphone?
Are you going to change that before Wily notices? You're about to ask a question before Shadow Man approaches the two of you with tea. It honestly smelled pretty great, and you took the cup that was offered to you. The green tea is slightly bitter but has an edge of sweetness that balances it out nicely, making for a harmonious flavor.
“Oh, this is good,” you murmur as you finish it off. “Best cup I’ve had in a while, I think. You made this?” you ask the robot. He bows his head, and you smile. “My compliments to the chef.”
It seems like he’s genuinely happy at your compliment. He is an elegant robot, and maybe it’s because you’ve been more sympathetic to Wily than most – well, actually, pretty much anyone else – but you wonder about what he said in the past about robots having souls.
“So, how about it?" he asks as Shadow Man pours you another cup. You look down at the clear green liquid in your cup. You are well aware of his track record. He's more than just a man who marches to the beat of his drum. There's a chance this might not end well. But at the same time, he reached out to you. He has a bit more esteem for you than you had originally thought. You look up at him, taking in his lanky form.
Damn, but he really is a silver fox, isn’t he? Legal repercussions be damned – you tried to play it straight and narrow since you got your degree and look where that got you.
“What the hell. I’m in.”
His delighted laugh rings in your ears. And he does sound pleased as punch about it, as if you just made his day.

Local SEO for Orthodontists: Get Found by Patients in Your Area
In a world where 90% of people search online before choosing a healthcare provider, being visible in your local area is no longer optional - it’s essential. For orthodontists, local SEO is one of the most effective ways to attract nearby patients who are actively looking for services like braces, Invisalign, or early orthodontic care.
Local SEO isn’t just about ranking on Google - it’s about showing up at the right time, in the right place, and with the right message to convert searches into appointments.
What Is Local SEO for Orthodontists?
Local SEO for Orthodontists is the practice of optimizing your online presence to appear in search results for geographically-related queries. For example:
“Orthodontist near me”
“Braces for teens in [City Name]”
“Invisalign South Hill WA”
Unlike traditional SEO, which targets broad keywords, local SEO zeroes in on patients searching in your city, neighborhood, or zip code — where most of your new business comes from.
Why Local SEO Matters for Orthodontists
When someone nearby searches for “Invisalign provider in Morristown,” you want your practice to be the first one they see. Local SEO helps:
Increase visibility on Google Maps and local search
Drive qualified traffic from people actively seeking treatment
Build credibility through reviews and business listings
Outrank competitors who aren't optimizing locally
It’s one of the most cost-effective ways to attract consistent leads without relying on paid ads.
Key Components of Local SEO for Orthodontists
Here’s what goes into an effective local SEO strategy:
1. Google Business Profile Optimization
Your Google Business Profile (formerly Google My Business) is the foundation of your local SEO presence.
To optimize it:
Ensure your NAP (Name, Address, Phone) is consistent
Select accurate categories like “Orthodontist” and “Invisalign Provider”
Add photos of your office, staff, and before/after results
Include your services (e.g., clear aligners, metal braces, early treatment)
Post weekly updates or offers
Bonus Tip: Encourage happy patients to leave 5-star reviews regularly — Google rewards active profiles.
2. On-Page SEO with Local Keywords
Your website needs content that targets your location and your services. This includes:
City-specific pages (e.g., “Orthodontist in Parsippany NJ”)
Location-based blog posts (e.g., “Best Age to Start Braces in [City]”)
SEO-friendly headers, title tags, and meta descriptions
Embedding maps and contact info on key pages
Use long-tail phrases like:
“Affordable braces near [city name]”
“Invisalign for adults in [neighborhood]”
3. Localized Content Marketing
Educational content that targets local searchers builds both trust and visibility. Some ideas:
Blog: “What to Expect at Your First Orthodontic Visit in [City]”
FAQ page: “Do Braces Hurt?” + mention your local practice name
Success stories from real patients in your area
Videos answering common local questions
Google loves hyper-relevant content — and so do your potential patients.
4. Citations and Local Listings
Your practice should appear consistently across top online directories. Examples:
Healthgrades
Zocdoc
Yelp
Facebook
Local Chamber of Commerce websites
Consistency is key: Your business name, address, and phone number must be identical on every listing. Mismatches can hurt your rankings.
5. Mobile-Friendly Website Design
Most orthodontic searches happen on mobile. Your site should be:
Responsive (fits all screen sizes)
Fast-loading (under 3 seconds)
Easy to navigate with clickable phone numbers and “Book Now” buttons
Optimized for local keywords in URLs, headers, and image alt text
6. Local Link Building
Backlinks from other trusted local sources help build authority. Reach out to:
Local dental blogs or news sites
School sponsorships or sports teams
Community event listings
Referral partners (e.g., pediatric dentists)
These not only improve SEO but also build real-world trust.
The ROI of Local SEO for Orthodontists
Local SEO is a long-term strategy that continues to generate leads month after month, unlike paid ads that stop when your budget does.
Practices that invest in local SEO typically see:
Higher search visibility
Increased appointment requests
More 5-star Google reviews
Better patient retention and referrals

How to Build a Profitable Practice Without Spending a Lot of Money
Starting or scaling a healthcare practice doesn't have to come with a six-figure price tag. In fact, with the right strategies, it's entirely possible to build a profitable practice without overspending. Whether you're a physician, podiatrist, dentist, or other healthcare provider, smart budgeting and high-impact marketing can help you attract patients and grow sustainably.
In this article, we'll cover practical, cost-effective steps to grow your practice while keeping expenses low — without compromising on quality care.

1. Start Lean, Then Grow Strategically
One of the biggest mistakes new practitioners make is overspending too soon — renting large office spaces, buying top-of-the-line equipment, or hiring too many staff before generating consistent revenue.
Instead, consider:
Subleasing office space or sharing with another provider
Buying refurbished or gently used equipment
Outsourcing administrative tasks like billing and marketing before hiring in-house
By keeping your fixed costs low, you preserve more capital to invest in patient care and strategic growth.
2. Focus on Niche Services to Stand Out
You don’t need to serve everyone to be successful. In fact, niching down is one of the most effective ways to build a loyal patient base and generate referrals.
Ask yourself:
What do I do better or differently than others?
Are there underserved patient groups in my area?
What specific treatments are in high demand?
By positioning yourself as a specialist in a niche service (e.g., diabetic foot care, minimally invasive bunion surgery, pediatric podiatry), you can command higher value without competing solely on price.
3. Leverage Low-Cost Digital Marketing
You don’t need a big advertising budget to attract patients online. Here are some high-ROI digital strategies:
Optimize Your Website for SEO
Ensure your website is:
Mobile-friendly
Fast-loading
Filled with relevant keywords like "foot pain treatment near me" or "affordable podiatry services"
Also, create helpful content like blog posts and FAQs — Google loves useful, relevant information.
Claim & Optimize Your Google Business Profile
This is one of the most powerful (and free) tools you have. Make sure your profile has:
Accurate business hours and contact info
High-quality photos
Positive patient reviews
Regular posts or updates
Be Active on Social Media
Platforms like Instagram or Facebook can build trust and humanize your brand. Post:
Behind-the-scenes content
Patient success stories (with permission)
Educational tips or short videos
4. Encourage and Leverage Patient Reviews
Online reviews are digital word-of-mouth. They increase your visibility on platforms like Google, Yelp, and Healthgrades.
Ask satisfied patients to leave reviews
Make it easy — send a follow-up email or provide a QR code in your office
Respond professionally to all reviews, both positive and negative
Pro tip: Reviews improve local SEO, helping you rank higher in search results.
5. Build Strong Referral Relationships
Referrals don’t always require expensive lunches or marketing materials. Instead:
Reach out personally to local providers, PTs, or specialists
Offer to co-manage care or provide fast consults
Send thoughtful thank-you notes for referrals
A few solid referral relationships can drive consistent growth without any marketing budget.
6. Use Technology to Save Time and Money
Today’s software tools can automate many time-consuming tasks:
Online scheduling (reduces missed calls and improves patient experience)
Electronic health records (EHRs) with built-in billing tools
Telehealth platforms for follow-ups and low-complexity visits
Many of these tools offer affordable monthly plans, and they pay for themselves quickly through increased efficiency.
7. Track Your Numbers and Adjust
Profitability isn’t just about income — it’s about margins. Track key metrics regularly:
Cost per patient
Patient retention rate
No-show rate
Referral sources
Use this data to make smart, budget-conscious decisions about what’s working and what’s not.
Final Thoughts: Profitability Doesn’t Mean Overspending
You don’t need the fanciest office, biggest staff, or largest ad budget to build a thriving practice. By staying focused, delivering excellent patient care, and using smart, low-cost marketing strategies, you can create a profitable and sustainable practice — one that grows with your values, not just your expenses.
