so yes, like they've been fed this idea that victors should be happy because they love opulent lifestyles, have their own tv segments, are so beloved and finnick has very much played into this capitol darling image. so that idea cracks when reader plays the part in public for parties and for the media, but she's completely hollow in day to day life. so they realize that it's not really what they're told, there's a much darker side to winning that hidden that they know better than to ask about or be curious about. so they learn from finnick what they can do to support her and slowly push themselves back into her life and help her open up.

she works hard the whole dinner to not put on a persona, to just be herself and it's hard for her. she's anxious, nervous and it's obvious. beckett's jokes don't land, she adds little to the gossip him and tallulah bring, some nods and sometimes she forces our small things that add to story or commentary. it's enough for them to believe there's hope and that she just needs more support. after they leave she sits at the table still, head buried in be hands.

"they hate me, I wish I was the person I was before."

he's shaking his head ferverously, taking her hands in his. "no they don't. you did so good sweet girl, so proud of you."

he absolutely gets emotional watching her in a gorgeous bridesmaids dress, walking in the precession, makes him want to give the same thing to her. especially when she's told him about the whole process and made small mentions of what she likes versus doesn't, so he's got wedding things completely down for them. although he's anxious about asking, he's nervous he'll scare her off and about her mental stability. so he holds it off and as we know he waits too long.

Willow Boughs and Wanting

(mildly nsfw under the cut)

He’s pushed back into the pew, and he goes without much fight. From his position now, Babe is half looming over him. The light through the windows makes his hair even more red, like a halo of fire consuming him. Babe doesn’t leave him to think for too long, slowly straddling himself over his lap until his knees are on either side of Eugene’s legs. He’s still taller like that, looking down at Eugene’s face when he tips his head back.

“I gotta tell you, Father, you’ve made it a helluva time sitting in on your services,” Babe says, and there’s a hint of a smile there that’s swallowed in something more serious. Babe leans down so close that their lips almost touch. He plays it like a waiting game and Eugene is the one to blink first. He doesn’t know who closes the gap first, but they’re kissing and Babe’s hands are on his shoulders.

If there had been a halo of fire around Babe, it’s going to cover him next, spread its fire like a curious flame licking up around dry wood. It dries the muggy air out of him and brings him closer to something real and solid. They kiss until they’re spending more time pulling away to breathe a shared exhale of the same air.

“It just ain’t right keeping you squirreled away in here all by your lonesome,” Babe murmurs, and Gene doesn’t have time to think about what he means before Babe lets himself settle further down in his lap. Only by sheer will does he keep his hands from grabbing him, either to push him away or drag him down he doesn’t know. Babe looks him in the eye, slow and deliberate in his gaze and grinds down onto his lap. Eugene can’t bite back the noise he makes, something choked off and high that escapes his throat.

“Edward, you can't be doing that,” he means it to sound more of a warning than it does. Instead it comes more like a hurried question.

“What's it gonna take to kill that? Need to know me a little more biblically before you call me the right name?” Babe asks, and the smile from earlier is back. He grinds his hips against Eugene, dropping his head to his shoulder for a moment. He nudges Eugene’s head back, kissing right above his white collar where his throat dips with each swallow.

“Want me to stop calling you by your first name, maybe? You prefer Father Roe if we're being formal like?” He rocks into him again, pulling back to kiss along his jaw. He can feel the blood in his cheeks, hot and thruming underneath his skin. Babe winds his arms around his neck, his eyes falling closed when he leans his head to the side and hips still moving.

"Edward," he tries again, and his voice has found no more strength the longer he waits. Babe's eyes come open again at that, and just as suddenly as they'd ended up together he pulls back. Eugene feels something akin to fear flush through him, suddenly wanting to pull him back down.

He doesn't go far, Babe sinks to his knees in front of him, slower than should be possible with how fast everything else seems to be happening to him. Eugene can’t get a good enough grip on the pew under his hands him to steady himself. There’s a wicked look Babe gets now, and he runs his hands down the outside of Eugene's legs, catching halfway down his shin and holding.

“Awful hard, like I was saying. Supposed to be listening and you’re up there, looking like all a’this,” Babe’s hands move back up again to catch his hips, squeezing just a little. Eugene digs his nails into the pew, wishing the wood would splinter under his grip. He presses until it hurts, tilting his head up and screwing his eyes closed.

“Figured yous would be used to seeing somebody down on their knees like this,” Babe’s grip tightens. He pulls him forward a little, pushing Eugene to choose between letting go of his grip on the old wood or letting his hips be moved forward till his back is almost arched.

“No, I ain’t, it’s not- I never,” his voice comes out in more of a stutter than he had expected. Babe’s grin grows at that. Just as slowly as he’d sunk to his knees before, he leans forward till his lips hover about an inch away from the dark fabric. Despite the layers, Eugene feels a hot flush run down his neck knowing that if Babe looked he would probably be able to see him getting hard.

“You good and sure about that? Don’t wanna take my confession like this?” Babe asks, and there's not a prayer in the world that comes to him now.

By all means if he wants to step away from music go ahead. I support him and I think he should be able to do as he pleases career wise. He shouldn’t be tied down to one thing forever. All artists grow and flourish. For example Rihanna and its Fenty beauty and Savage lingerie. Beyoncé with hair care and clothing. Lizzo with workout gear. 50 with movies and shows. I think he should be able to move in and do other and possibly bigger things that he sees for weather that be Moms spaghetti, production, or merch. But if he wants to do merch he needs to step it tf up. Because it’s all the same and it’s getting boring. Do a real menswear like. Do some new hat brand. Or focus on expanding his Resturant or team up with 50 for moves and shows or even put MORE energy into his record label because it could use it if he wants to do producing and not necessarily rapping on the mic.

And yea, he should hear his fans out. They are a big pet as to why he’s here and thriving. And no offense but especially the younger ones now. He had a whole new generation listening to him. He can either use it to his advantage and make another album or not. But to be putting merch out every week is crazy. Because who is keep that man in business? 🤨

As for footnote, I heard that Paul wanted him to do it because Paul’s SON plays the game and he got the idea from that so they r ached out to fortnite… but Paul isn’t Marshall. Why does he have to collab with Fortnite because of your son and you think it’s a good money maker? Marshall doesn’t belong in a kids game period. If anything they should’ve tried to get him to voice in GTA6 or have his music in the game somehow… that would been HUGE for him considering the gta situation with him from back in the day.

And I feel like he’s gonna lose that lawsuit. And tbh I HOPE he does. It’s stupid. I get you wanna go hard for your daughter but babes… they were a podcast first. They been around for a while. No one is confusing the two. Plus, if Hailie cares so much then she needs to be a big girl and sue them herself. Oh wait she can’t because she doesn’t even have permission to use the term shade by legality. Oop- and we all know he wouldn’t sue his own daughter. But I digress.

I feel like all of it is just Paul getting in his ear and it’s bad. The lawsuit is ruining his reputation and he’s just doing things no one cares about anymore. Like get it together please.

YES. I absolutely agree. Eminem has had an incredible career and if he wanted to stop, he should. By all means. If he wants to bless us with more music, I'm here for it too, obviously. But I feel like maybe there should be a proper way to do it. Like, if you want to stop, maybe announce it and quit keeping people on their toes ?

Also I LOVE the examples you have chosen, when it comes to artists expanding and doing something else successfully. Also... Shady Records COULD use some more energy. I think I saw something from Paul saying it was never meant to be a big thing anyway, but... If you're signing people, maybe put some actual energy into their projects ? Because you're not doing them a favor by pretending the musical industry works the same as the 90s and disregarding digital promotion. Just sayin...

Hiiiiiiii its me again, I wrote a thing and then lost steam after writing it all in one go so it's unfinished but I appreciate you allowing me to have a go with your AU.

Sebastian looked up from the book in his hands when Charles walked in with blood dripping down his face, despite the best efforts of the first aid kit dressing pressed against the head wound. He could guess just how sticky and hot it had become, soaked as vibrantly red as it was.

"Oh, goodness Charles," Sebastian huffed, shutting his book and standing up to attend to his most regular patient. "I don't know how you get so injured playing a non-contact sport."

It earned him a shrug and a sheepish smile. He gently prodded Charles over to sit on the examination bed, leaving Charles to blink up at him slowly as he pulled on some gloves, stood between his ajar legs and eased the dressing away from his blood-matted hair.

"It was a tree this time," Charles answered.

Sebastian paused in his motions and met his eye. "I didn't think there were any trees near the football pitch."

Charles' cheeks flushed with embarrassment as he looked away and quietly replied. "There aren't."

Sebastian hummed and tried to bite down on the grin which threatened to break out upon his face. It probably wasn't entirely appropriate for a member of staff to laugh at a students' clumsiness and propensity for injury. His growing familiarity and soft spot for the boy was going to get him in trouble someday if he wasn't careful.

Instead, he tended to the small cut hidden just past Charles' hairline, gently tilting his head this way and that as he cleaned it of any stray bark or dirt. Charles' gaze had returned at some point to look up at him with quiet, all-consuming intrigue, such as Sebastian had come to expect during these last few weeks since first meeting him.

Originally, he had thought that perhaps the boy was being bullied for all his injuries and was coming to Sebastian's office for refuge and someone to talk to, but it had been a long while since it was made obvious that he was quite popular and well-liked by other students (due in part to some concerned sleuthing on Sebastian's end). No, Sebastian had come to conclude, Charles wasn't looking for company or a confident – he was just accident prone.

"There we go," Sebastian said finally. "Just keep this pressed against your head for a few more minutes to make sure the blood is clotting and then you can get back to training."

Charles made a face at that, and Sebastian really did grin at him then, flicking his gloves into the waste bin.

"You know, if you hate it that much, you can quit. Nobody is forcing you to keep playing."

Charles rolled his eyes and fell back to lean against his elbows, legs still swinging slightly as they hung off the bed. Sebastian noticed that his knees were dirtied with mud and his shorts rode up his thighs ever so slightly.

"Pierre is forcing me to keep playing. He says more girls show up to games when I'm there, even if I don't play. Especially if I don't play, because then they'll see how bad I am."

Laughing, Sebastian came back to the bedside and grabbed Charles wrist and tugged on it gently, earning him a confused blink before the boy shifted his weight to his other elbow and let Sebastian pull his arm. Sebastian carefully lifted it and then pressed the hand with the bandage in it back to his forehead, his own hand covering Charles'.

"Hm. I can see how that must be very hard for you to deal with – attention from pretty girls who are interested in you," he said, smiling slyly down at him.

Charles licked at his lower lip, leaving the sheen of spit to catch the light and draw Sebastian's gaze.

"Yes," came the response. "Very hard."

Clients Are Demanding More Web Design Freedom

Web designers love to client-proof their creations. It’s all about preventing a rogue client from mucking up a layout or feature. After all, everyone’s happy when things look good.

The practice keeps those technical support requests to a minimum. Or at least it did.

These days, it seems like clients are eager to experiment with design. The more we lock down features, the more frustrated they get. It’s been a growing trend in my freelance business.

I often receive design queries from clients. They want to know how to create specific layouts. Or how to embed video or other third-party content.

It marks a change from how things used to be. So, why are clients suddenly interested in doing it themselves? I have a few theories! I also have thoughts on what we can do to meet this need.

There’s a Higher Standard for Web Design

Today’s clients are avid web consumers. Some have grown up alongside the internet. Therefore, they possess a different set of sensibilities.

The web used to be a novelty. The clients I served 10+ years ago weren’t as attuned to user experience (UX). If anything, they asked for features that went against the grain in this area.

Sure, I still get requests for such features. But they have decreased significantly.

I more often hear from people who want to replicate a specific look. They want a page layout similar to a big brand or competitor.

True, they may want these results on a much smaller budget. But they have an idea of how a website should look and work. And it’s miles away from the clunky designs of yesteryear.

Clients are surrounded by better design. And they want the same for themselves.

No-Code Tools Are Promising a Better Experience

We’ve witnessed an influx of browser-based design tools in recent years. Proprietary systems like Wix market themselves as do-it-all solutions. Even open-source apps like WordPress have gotten into the game with its Site and Block Editors.

The message is that anyone can build a website. Sure, the reality may be blurred (and there’s no mention of quality). But these tools have raised the bar of expectation.

For some website owners, having a site is no longer enough. They also want to create content and personalize the look. Empowered clients, yay!

However, this is a less-than-ideal situation for web designers. We want our clients to accomplish great things with their sites. But there’s a price to all of this newfound freedom.

These tools make building a custom layout easier. But things can get out of hand rather quickly.

I’ve seen this with the WordPress Block Editor. There’s a lot to love about it. However, it doesn’t guarantee success. Those unfamiliar with design can paint themselves into a corner.

For example, building layouts that are hard to maintain. Or accidentally dragging a block into the wrong space. All good for our job security. Not so much for our mental health.

Yes, anyone can build with a no-code tool. But it still takes careful thought and foresight to do it well. That’s why locking things down is still so attractive.

What Should Web Designers Do?

We want to keep our clients happy. Plus, there’s only so much lecturing we can do. So, how can we provide the flexibility clients want while also safeguarding their site?

There are a few ideas that come to mind:

Build with Flexibility in Mind

I’m a very purpose-driven designer. I like to build features that match a client’s stated needs. But sometimes, that leads to inflexibility.

A client will attempt to use a feature in a way that I didn’t intend. The result is often a frustration for both parties.

The lesson here is to build with flexibility in mind. Consider other ways a client may use a feature. Then, provide options for making it work.

Custom WordPress blocks are a good example. Instead of creating a block with a singular layout option, go the extra mile. Add column and row layouts. Allow for different types of content to be input.

These little steps can mitigate issues down the road. Clients won’t have to think outside the box – they’ll already have everything they need.

Invest in Client Education

Design tools are more powerful than ever. That’s a good thing. However, a well-intentioned client could use them to cause havoc.

When people know better, they do better. Thus, education can be just as powerful.

Sit down with clients and teach them the basics. Provide documentation that spells out best practices and things to avoid.

Granted, not everyone has time to do this. In that case, you might employ a third-party resource to help. Curate a list of videos and tutorials to put clients on the right path.

Again, prevention is the best medicine here.

Lock Down What You Can

None of this means we should stop locking things down. A client-proof website is still a noble goal. We might have to be more selective, though.

Tools like the WordPress Block Editor include a locking feature. You can use it to prevent those unintended consequences. Adding block patterns could also satisfy the need to create custom layouts.

You might also seek to limit user permissions. If there’s an area that a client should never touch – don’t give them easy access.

Think about the site’s most mission-critical aspects and act accordingly.

Web Designers Need to Meet Clients Where They Are

Today’s web design clients want to do more with their sites. Sure, they want us to build them something beautiful and functional. But they also want the ability to do it themselves.

There’s no going back on this. The cat’s already out of the bag. Thus, we need to adjust to match these expectations.

We can achieve this through a bit of foresight. Anticipate how clients will interact with their website. Build features that can withstand whatever they throw at it.

We’ll still make mistakes. Plus, some clients will be prone to mishaps. However, these experiences are learning opportunities. Take them and keep evolving. After all, our clients aren’t slowing down.

Just imagine u were walking in Snezhnaya's forest at night trying to find some wood for ur kitchen fuel and then u accidentally came across this man, looking straight into ur soul with his glowing dark blue eyes 💀💀

2022 Wrap up (4 Top 5)

Hello and happy holidays! Over the last few weeks I have been pouring over lists of the top albums, songs and movies of 2022, thrilled to see what the world (or at least high budget magazines) are saying about these past twelve months. This year has felt a little more ‘normal’ (not really sure what that word means anymore, or if it even should exist) than the past two and as a result we have received a lot of exciting art.

If I love anything, its making lists. I love keeping track of what media I have consumed, things I need to buy, people I have been romantic with (zodiac signs included), and ranking my various ‘best of’s’.  Below you will find 4 lists of my Top 5 of 2022; TV shows, movies, albums and songs. Each selection is deserving of its own several page deep-dive, but I limited myself to a one-sentence review of each as I know attention spans are quite fleeting these days (my own included). Please enjoy and share your own thoughts!

TV Shows:

HOT D, Season 1

Game of Thrones with a bigger budget, advanced technology and more feminism.

2. Rings of Power, Season 1

Like HOT D, Lord of the Rings but with more than just white men, and a $1M/minute budget (yes, you read that right).

3. Our Flag Means Death, Season 1

Taika Waititi’s new project about gay pirates—do I need to say anything more?

4. Derry Girls, Season 3

Martin Scorsese likes this show, so if my endorsement isn’t enough for you his should be.

5. The Summer I Turned Pretty, Season 1

I feel like most of my life is trying to get back to being a teenage girl and this show really did that for me.

Movies:

Bones and All, Luca Guadagnino

A coming of age cannibal love story that makes you scream, jump, plug your ears, cover your eyes, laugh and cry—what more could you want?

2. Aftersun, Charlotte Wells

Beautiful imagery, incapacitatingly sad plot (my favorite juxtaposition).   

3. X, Ti West

A love letter to horror film, chock full of references that made me feel like all my years spent on horror amounted to something.

4. Bodies, Bodies, Bodies, Halina Rejin

I love blood, I love girls, I love a whodunit, I love jokes—this is my dream film, also Pete Davidson is in it.

5. Tar, Todd Field

This movie is making fun of high-brow art which is funny because this movie is loved by people who love high-brow art.

Albums:

Preacher’s Daughter, Ethel Cain

A 75-minute concept album tackling love, abuse, lots of God, sex and being cannibalized with memorizing vocals, quite the feat for a debut LP.

2. Being Funny in a Foreign Language, The 1975

From dick jokes and a pop song about incel mass shootings to devastating breakup anthems, this album makes you experience most emotions.

3. Renaissance, Beyoncé

This album proves that Beyoncé can literally do anything well; a disco-club-banger-no-skips album invocative of the 70s but that absolutely hits in 2022? No problem. (sorry, this is technically two sentences)

4. Motomami, ROSALIA

Being A Bad Bitch in a Foreign Language: I have no idea what she’s saying but the emotion she conveys through her voice and the flawlessly produced beats transcend language.

5. Caprisongs, FKA Twigs

Another club-banger of an album which deals with being both hot and sad at the same time, relatable.

Songs:

Part of the Band, The 1975

There is so much to say about this song but the ‘Vaccinista, tote bag chic baristas’ line changed my life and I haven’t been the same since.

2. Killer, FKA Twigs

She called this ‘a song for baddies with a tear in their eyes’ and I cannot say anything better.

3. Anti-Hero, Taylor Swift

Famous for being vulnerable, Taylor reaches a new level of honesty with this song, expressing the very unrelatable difficulties that come along with being Taylor Swift in an extremely relatable way.

4. Hard Times, Ethel Cain

I was reading up on Bard lore and saw that he saves people not because they are in danger but because they are important to the world in some way and Powder’s destiny is to free Zaun and Bard being a god that focuses on the bigger picture would definitely save Powder.

Bard being a god with a bigger picture approach doesn't want to baby Powder, so instead to make sure she survives to fulfil her disterny,(Bard is the definition of divine intervention, saves your ass and you blink and he's gone) he gives her some stuff to help her survive out in the wilds (not to sure what he give her, but its stuff you need for these things)

So Powder with her destiny set and no Silco to fuck her up in the head more than she already was, sets out into the wild with a few godly presents keeping a keen eye on her

I'm not sure where Powder’s mental state would be in this due to not having Silco be around her and the state of Zaun being part of her day to day life.

In this au I also want her to somehow be friends with Fiddlesticks, like Janna is like “Powder is a very small child, and I can't really help her too much on her journey coz i dont have much worship, but I could give her a companion that will keep her safe” Looks at the fear demon eating people in Demacia’s countryside “Ah yes. The perfect companion” And Janna just scopes them up and basically threatens them to keep Powder safe or she’ll yeet him into a maze game with Zoe.

So we have this tiny traumatised child that has the gods looking out for her and her best friend, a terrifying unholy fear demon that kills without remorse as our focus.

The thing is, Fiddlesticks actually somehow cares for Powder and is very soft for her, (best Dad Fiddlesticks)

This is also very funny considering that Powder has to go back to Zaun and split the two cities and this 5 foot 3 blue haired teen just rolls up back in Zaun after everyone thinks shes dead with a fucking demon and his murder of crows as her companions, with saying, “Janna sent me here to kick piltover’s ass and get us indpendanse, dont get in my way!” and Fiddlesticks is just leaning over her giving everyone who opposes her a death glare.

It's a bit hard to fit Fiddle into the role of protector or being soft with anyone just based on how he's written (though canon lore has never stopped me from getting what I want). Though I could see a way of making it working being Bard giving Powder the missing Key that was stolen by Zoe.

She'd have no idea why he gave her this key or what to do with it, Bard just dumps her in the Demacian countryside with an "lol, good luck." He wouldn't care to explain because he already knows she'll be fine, so Janna steps in (in a huge huff about his poor care).

Janna could be the one to give her cryptic messages of what to do with the key. Like "Don't let fear consume you, let the key guide you to where it's meant to be."

Something could happen when Powder puts the key where it should be (maybe connected to the cage?), but it would be after fighting a whole bunch of trauma inducing 'fun' from Fiddle. They wouldn't be going all out for the simple fact she has the key and Fiddle wants it.

Does make me curious as to what Zaun Fiddle would look like, I assume more mechanical like his Praetorian skin? Their main body is made up of whatever garbage they find lying around.

hey zephyr, i'm asking out of curiosity and not malice so i hope you'll answer this kindly, but as someone who's trans and exceptionally vocal about supporting other trans people, what reasoning do you use to continue supporting harry potter when jkr when she's vocally bigoted and regularly donates to anti-trans organizations? i know a lot of people are able to seperate harry potter from her, but it's something i struggle with myself because so many facets of my own identity have been treated as a joke by her writing. i'm not asking for justification and this isn't an attack, i would just like to understand because so many of my friends also regularly engage with the series and it's games and i don't know how to ask them about it, and you seem a lot more approachable about it! i understand it's a sensitive topic and if you would prefer not to answer it though but i really do want to understand because i know it's not good to have such a black and white view of the world :(

What a fucking year 2023 has been. I've been completely absent from this space and just as much in several important aspects of my life. 2023... was a real struggle. Basically a cruel balancing act between (1) being there for mum through her illness and our family struggles and (2) trying to survive/get going at work. Think I did alright for (1), though the family struggles have yet to see the end game. As for (2)... well probably better than 2022 but still nowhere near the levels that I need to be (or am made to feel that I should be at). I thought 2022 was my toughest year to date given that 6 months in Hong Kong, and to be fair, it was... just professionally. 2023 was grueling in a completely different way and tested me in ways I had not expected. Good fucking riddance 2023. If I had a wish it'd be for 2024 to be nothing like 2023 in any shape or form. I'd wish for a fresh start but I know the divorce will have its overhang. I can only hope the chaos that precludes and ensues are kept to a minimal

It has been such a fucking hurricane that I felt like I was constantly trying really hard to just survive, let alone have the capacity to strive for things listed as important on my resolutions list. It's really only now that I've went back to review the list that I noticed the toll the year took on me. I also realised the resolution that I stopped farthest away from was to make concrete plans with C. Yes we bought a home but the rest of the prep of living together really did flew right by me which is 100% on me. Whenever I had any sort of reprieve, I immersed myself in world of warcraft lol, maybe its some sort of escape or distraction. Did it make me feel better? Not sure but it kept me entertained and gave me a break from all that was happening and it reminded me of what I used to enjoy and now realise that I still do

Setting aside time to think things through, I've realised (similar to previous years) my resolutions remain broadly consistent though now I see the details of what I'd like to achieve with greater clarity. I'm going to be making it a point to revisit my resolutions every fortnight to keep myself on track. An excerpt/summary of my 2024 resolution list that I decorated with more details and goals:

More quality time with mum. With 2023 done and dusted, I want to do more things with her that she'd like (St John strays come up, a short trip to Taiwan would be great for her too)

Learn to read voraciously. Finance-related, self-improvement, biographies etc, fucking everything and anything. This is something I need to develop, I'm pretty sure it's going to help inspire me (which I am sorely in need of)

Write/introspect much more. I'll set 30 mins aside every week to revisit this space and pen down my thoughts, no matter how brief

Devote more time to my hobbies and developing new interests. I desperately need to shoot more film, it brings me so much joy. I'll make it a point to bring my point-and-shoot all the time

Manage work/life balance better. When work gets going, it consumes a lot of my headspace and the same for personal matters. Individually/separately I can do better, but concurrently they need to get along more smoothly in my head. Work - I need to constantly obsess with P&L outcome and review what can be done better. Life - Basically need to learn how to shut out work and live life as normally as possible

I’ve noticed that a lot of people love to hate consumer goods/media that are not designed for their particular tastes, like they become personally offended at something merely having the audacity to exist. Then there’s the crowd who believe companies such as Bethesda can do no wrong; they are simply delusional. Starfield’s core narrative is definitely strong for a Bethesda game, but Beth has long been outgunned by their peers in terms of technical and writing achievement, and that becomes more and more obvious as video games in general grow increasingly sophisticated. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, even on its horrendous release day, had more to offer in terms of rich worldbuilding and character intimacy (and I don’t mean the sex stuff- I mean character depth and connection to the player). Beth’s surviving appeal is the sandbox, the building, the open-ended world(s) full of interesting places and characters and humor. If their massively successful sales numbers are any indication, that seems to be enough.

Try to find the reviews from people who seem informed, level-headed, and invested in this game and other games in the same genre.

Please note how I didn’t say yes or no lol, because this is definitely one of those games where taste and expectations are going to do a lot of heavy lifting for your overall experience. I had to download inventory UI and weightless resource mods to make the core gameplay loop bearable, and I still want to play more, so I suppose that’s a mini review from me.

6: Which yet to be started fic is first on your list?

Idk if this means fics on my reading list that i havent read yet or fics on the list on the stuff i want to write so ill answer both of them.

This has been in the back of my mind to read for a while but I had a friend recommend it to me recently so now its like at the top of my reading priority list.

Writing list:

That one fic i've been talking about. I've been debating how much detail I should give about it, like if I should drop the title or like a general summary or not.

But I have it mostly figured out and a large part of it outlined and I just need to start writing it.

I'm really excited about this fic but because of the fact that it has two different story lines with equal importance, It's going to be hard to write. But it's going to be a lot less messy than ihiap and it'll probably be out some time in January or February.

I want to get going with ihiap again before i start on this one.

I stared at this question for like ten minutes trying to figure out what it means.

7: Will you change anything about the way you interact with other writers?

A few things with this one.

So, other writers terrify me. (Everyone in fandom terrifies me, including my own readers but thats not the point).

I do this thing where I find a reason to think every other writer is more 'successful' than me in fandom. Which is a weird thought to have because a) it's not like my fic doesnt have a lot of like kudos and comments and stuff. and b) what even is 'success' in fandom? and c) it doesnt matter at all.

But like in doing this I tend to think that if someone has like two more comments than me or even if I just like their writing style better than I like mine I shouldn't interact with them or reach out to them or comment because they wont notice or care.

Something that I noticed that helps with this mindset is putting yourself in their position. Like every time someone sends me an ask or messages me or comments or leaves kudos i notice and get so excited and happy, so like why wouldn't that apply to other people about me?

So that's one thing that I intend to do more, is interact with other creators more. Like comment on their stuff and send asks and all that fun stuff.

Like I've had people that get surprised that I message them back or answer their asks or follow them back. And I've had people make comments about like 'omg i cant believe you know i actually exist <3' And something that I think people tend to not realize is that most people who do fan works aren't stalking your blogs or your ao3 accounts thinking to themselves 'well i have 5 million followers/kudos or whatever and this person only has thirty followers, why the hell should I give them the time of day'. Nobody thinks that I promise.

Even if you're not a creator and your just kind of spectating and consuming fics/art/etc, reaching out to your favorite creators make their day, and they do not think anything bad of you. And doing this and like involving yourself in fandom (no matter how intimidating it is) is a great way to make friends in your fandom and like build community and stuff.

I got off track.

The other thing.

There is this specific fic author who has like 3 or 4 completely different reasons to not like me. Like I just have bad luck with this author and interacting with them and they're not even one I interact with a lot, but the few times I have just ended badly lol.

Yes, in 2023 I am going to try my best to not irritate this specific writer anymore. We'll see if I succeed.

Theres this fucking fic thing that I want to post so bad and I know exactly what I want to happen and it's not an issue of ideas it's an issue of prioritization. Like every time I sit down to write this I'm like 'oh you have this one fic that you havent updated in 2 months and you have the audacity to write another one?" 😐🙄

Then I'm like 'well damn you're right' and work on ihiap.

But ihiap is doing really well right now and i have the next like two chapters written already and im like half way through the third and so ill have time to write my other stuff.

This specific wip isn't like a plot thing, but it's like a series of one shots revolving around one specific subject (if that makes sense)

but it's really sweet and its centered around the fire hazards and im so excited to write it.

I have like two chapters written but i want more before i commit to it but if i dont post that this year i'll be damned-
