seungcheol is the ultimate pick-me. it’s like he’s got a radar for your needs and wants. you forget your hairbrush? no problem, he’s got a new one waiting on your desk. craving ramen? a steaming bowl appears out of nowhere. it’s a bit overwhelming, honestly, especially when the gifts keep getting more extravagant. you were about to stop him when you saw an yves saint laurent bag on your desk. you tried to explain it wasn't necessary, but he just grinned like he won the lottery. “i just want to make sure you have everything you need,” he says, looking way toopleased with himself as you see yet another luxury item appear.

jeonghan tries to play it cool, like he’s not affected by your presence at all, pretending he doesn’t care while he’s actually dying for your attention. he’s got this casual air about him, but you can tell he’s obsessed. the way he casually tosses a snack in your direction, or how he pretends to be deep in conversation with friends, but keeps glancing at you. when you finally acknowledge him, he’s way too nonchalant about it. “oh, hey,” he says, as if he wasn’t just counting down the seconds until you noticed him. “didn’t see you there.” his tone way too casual for someone who’s clearly been waiting for you.

joshua takes a more direct approach, pulling out his guitar or starting to sing whenever you're nearby. it’s like he’s trying to lure you in with his talent. sometimes, it’s a bit awkward, especially when he messes up a chord or stumbles over lyrics. but he keeps going, hoping you'll compliment him. “how’s that for a song?” he asks, trying to sound casual but clearly hoping you’ll swoon over his performance. it’s awkwardly charming, and you can’t help but smile. “not bad, right?”

junhui is always trying to be the cool guy, but he’s clearly not very good at it. he’s playing basketball outside, and every time you walk by, he tries to show off with some flashy moves. he dribbles a little harder, jumps a little higher, and always makes sure to throw you a grin that’s way too hopeful. “yo, you see that shot?” he calls out, clearly trying to impress you. “thought you might want to see my skills up close.”

soonyoung can’t help but embarrass himself trying to get your attention. he’ll leave a banana milk on your desk with a sheepish grin, saying, “for you, shawty.” he says trying to sound cool but clearly embarrassed by the gesture. his cheeks are a little red as he avoids eye contact, clearly hoping you’ll appreciate the small, quirky gift. you can’t help but laugh at his antics, and he looks so pleased when you accept the drink.

wonwoo is all about paying attention. he overhears your conversations about books or skincare and then subtly drops references to them in his own conversations. you catch him reading a book on dermatology right after you talked about skincare. “i heard you’re into this stuff,” he says, trying to sound casual. “thought i’d give it a read too.” he mumbles, clearly hoping to impress you with his attentiveness. it’s sweet how he goes out of his way to connect with you.

woozi is subtle with his attempts. he’ll spin a pen or crack his fingers, trying to look cool and nonchalant. when you ask him to teach you how to spin a pen, he’s caught off guard and turns beet red, clearly flustered by the close contact. “uh, sure, I can show you,” he stammers, trying to hide his embarrassment. it’s adorable how he struggles to maintain his cool.

minghao is protective in a subtle way. if he overhears the boys talking shit or swearing next to you—you know, boys. he’ll step in, saying, “hey, we’ve got a girl here, watch your language.” he’s got this protective vibe, and you can’t help but appreciate how he stands up for you, even in small ways. it’s clear he values you and wants to make sure you’re treated well.

mingyu like flaunting his strength and height. if you’re struggling with something, like lifting a chair, he’ll swoop in to help, lifting it effortlessly. when he’s next to you, he’ll flex his muscles or show off his veins, trying to get you to notice. “need a hand?” he asks, lifting your pile of books effortlessly for you. “just thought you might need some help with this.”

seokmin is the ultimate “pick me” guy when it comes to social media. he’ll post things related to your interests, like a song from the artist you mentioned or a dish you posted about. when you like or comment on his posts, he’s over the moon, celebrating like he’s just won the lottery. “I saw you liked my post,” he’ll say, grinning like a fool. he’s clearly obsessed with making sure you know he’s into the same things you are.

seungkwan loves making you laugh. he’ll crack jokes loudly, making sure you hear them, and give you a sidelong glance to see if you’re laughing. when you try to hold back a laugh, he’s beaming, he flashes a triumphant grin, clearly pleased that he managed to get a reaction from you.

vernon is always tuned in to your preferences. if you mention liking boys in pink hoodies, he’ll show up in one the next day. if you talk about sour patch kids, he’ll have a pack open right next to you, offering you some with a shy smile. “you like these, right? I don’t really like them, you can have it...” he says, clearly hoping you’ll appreciate the gesture.

chan is the quintessential attention-seeker in P.E. classes, for example. he’ll go all out to show off, from pretending to be hurt to make you worry to making sure you see him perform. “hey, partner up with me!” he’ll call out, positioning himself right next to you, clearly hoping to get closer. when he’s showing off, he needs to make sure you’re paying attention to him.

It's then when you realise he was looking at you, you tight smiled and walked slowly over to him, your friendship wasn't the same since that day but right now you pushed it aside he had just won the EURO's with Spain, you felt happy for him and his achievement.

"Congratulations, platanito" You said softly maintaning some distance in between the two of you

"Gracias, corazón" The nickname had your chest tighten and you felt like crying, soon you felt his arms around you and you took a deep breath.

You had already made up your mind so you let yourself hug him tightly, some tears escaping your eyes; these being misinterpreted by tears of happiness.

"But don't you cry, I just cried enough for the two of us" He said as you crack a small smile

"Eres campeón de Europa" (You're champion of Europe) You said "How could I not cry if this is something you've always wanted? I feel so proud of you" You caress his cheek lovingly

"You've helped me through all of this too" You shook your head and was about to speak but no words came out, so you just wrapped your arms around him again and let go of the breath you were holding.

"Te quiero muchisimo, mi platanito" (I love you so much, banana boy) Your voice shook lightly

"I'm just happy, that's all" You sniffed getting away from him, if you stayed one more second you will not be able to do it. "I'll go congratulate the others and then we will take a pic with the throphy, sounds good?" He nods

"See you in a few then" He said "Leila, vamos" He called his six months girlfriend over to congratulate other players and have some pictures of themselves with the throphy.

You dried your tears and walked over to the shark, who was watching you with a small smile

You then walked over the González López, Rosy and Fernando didn't know but Fer did, that's why he had this sad and melancholic look on his face as he watched you arrive

"Can't you reconsider it?" You shook your head

"This was a mistake" Pedri says standing up from the bed quicly searching for his clothes

"We're best friends, we shouldn't have done this"

Soon, he turns around once more paying attention to the story his cousin is telling while you hurry to get out of the stadium.

You open your apartment watching all the packed boxes, his clothes laid on a box that Fer is meant to take later, your sister's helping you with everything and you know you shouldn't go there but you do. In there, lays the pink small bear he gave you at the feria, the small Barce shirt with the 8 fitting the bear in such an adorable way, you smile softly.

"This is ours"

"You won it for me so it's mine"

"I won it but I'm letting you have it everyday so it's ours"

You dig a bit more into the box and find the crystal sphere he gave you in Christmas, you shook it and watched the snow fall slowly

You sigh moving your legs faster, running behind him "Liar!"

You felt a tear coming down your eye, then you grabbed his 2002 hoodie, you were the first one to ever try a piece of clothing from his collection. You smiled remembering he gave it to you so you could fell asleep in his arms because of the thunderstorm

"Stop" The hoodie was ripped from your hands, you turned around to find your sister, Amelia. "You're only hurting yourself more"

"I can't help it, Meli" Your tears came out

"And that's why we're moving out. So you can pursue your dreams and forget about him"

You leaned down to pick your one year old dog, Zeus into your arms, he licked your tears away "Will I?"

"Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But I know that you need to put yourself first from now on"

"Please, just one little thing and we'll go right away" Amelia sighs but either way nods. You turn around and grab a small bracelet he gave you a few years ago from his box; he's supposed to have the other half but he left it in your apartment some weeks ago before he left for Germany.

You looked at the pictures of you both from babies all the way to teenagers and to the young adults you were now. You sighed before turning around to face Amelia.

"We're ready" You grabbed your suitcases, Zeus's bag, leash and with one more look at your apartment you left, ready to stop hurting, ready to forget about an unrequited love and ready to start your new life.

A/N: damn this is finished earlier than I thought it’s be finished. I did struggle to write his dialogue so I apologize if it’s ooc

The first day, it was a red rose that smells vaguely of apples. Then it was a box of your favourite chocolates. The rose had a velvety garnet bow with gold trim around the edges. In gold embroidery was the initial "R.H." Seriously, who is this admirer of yours? You sat on the couch in Ramshackle’s lounge, holding the two items in your hands. Oh, Ace was there too. Your flaming tuna cat and Deuce were out buying snacks at Sam’s. 

"Oooh,” Ace cooed at you in a teasing manner, almost like when in elementary school a boy and a girl get called to the board together, or even in the same group, for that matter.

“Shut up.” You elbowed Ace in the ribcage, not hard enough to hurt him, but hard enough for him to get the message at least. You looked closely at the ribbon around the rose, softly tracing your finger over the embroidered initials. Ugh. Everything this person did made your heart race. You weren’t even sure you could think straight.

“Yo, look.” Ace pointed out the embroidered initials. "Obviously, that could be Rook Hunt…..he’s the only one crazy enough to do this anyway.” 

Rook Hunt….? The vice of Pomefiore. You will admit the two of you have gotten oddly close as of recently. He’d always try to help you with your work and would suggest you two go to the oddest places together. Such as the woods. At 3am. Why????

“I’m gonna go on a….walk?” You tell Ace and get off the couch and put on your fuzzy jacket and boots. You all but gently open the door. The icy winter air blasts on your face as you step out, snow crunching under your boot.

You don’t have to trek out much further until you hear someone call out “mon trickster” from the bushes. At this point, you’re not going to question why he was in your bushes in the first place.

“Were you the one behind... well, all this?" You ask bluntly, approaching him with the rose in hand. He steps out to hold the rose in his hand, gazing at the ribbon.

“Of course it was me. I thought you needn’t have to put much thought into it!!” He says all dramatically. “-Name- do you accept my confession of love??”

Your name instead of a nickname in French?! Does that mean he’s more serious than you originally thought? You take a moment to think about it. After all that happened in Styx, the Pomefiore vice was with you every step of the way. He always made sure to check on you to make sure you’re okay, both physically and mentally. Sometimes it’d be by tapping on your window at 3 a.m., but that was his way of showing affection. “I do.” You say when you finally come to an agreement with yourself.

“Magnifique!” He grabs your hand abruptly, causing your heart to skip a beat. “I have so much for you to witness.” He pulls you off into the nearby forest, presumably to read you some poetry. The snow-capped trees looked a lot more inviting with him by your side. Forever and always.

CATS APARTMENT AU HCS!!

Victoria is a ballerina and during one of her first performances once she moved into the apartment complex literally all the other cats showed up. One of like the other dancers was like “Yo who tf are all those people cheering for you specifically” and she was like “oh my neighbors :] !!!” meanwhile in the crowd it’s all of them but specifically Jemima being like “YEAHHHHHHH WHOOOOOO🗣️🗣️‼️‼️‼️💕”

Gus’s apartment is like kinda cluttered because he has a lot of stuff from his youth but jellylorum helps him keep it neat (yall gus makes me wanna cry I love that guy)

Munkustrap is such an upstanding neighbor. Like he is the PERFECT NEIGHBOR. The kinda guy to offer to help you with groceries when he sees you struggling while walking up the stairs. You’d never ever in your life have a noise complaint. And I know his apartment is like impeccably put together mostly for Jenny’s sake.

And then there’s his brother. His place is actually very clean. I don’t feel like it’s messy, BUT. IK he’s petty. Tugger not rude or anything but oh he’s petty. He and alonzo have the craziest beef because ONCE. ONE TIME alonzo was being just like a little loud when he was doing something. (I hc in this au to be like into music so probably that) and ever since then it was WAR. Everyone has just coped with it. They’re like two unstoppable forces there’s no end in sight

I feel like the exterior of the apartment is very beautiful actually, like they all one day pitched it and helped old D make it look better cause it was a decently old building for a while. And i fear it would’ve been after Macavity tried to burn the building down. and im making my jokey jokes but any angst writers that see a vision this is for yall

On a completely different note. YALL. CAN. NOT. TELL. ME. that my boy pouncival doesn’t have the room of your average early 2000s skater boy. I’m taking dirty socks, messy clothes, just random ass stuff all around his place. Like you walk in and you’re for sure slipping on a banana peel or something.

Also he just is a skater boy. Like he’ll try and do sick tricks on the railings on the outside of the building and it’s a miracle there’s been no casualties.

Garou who’s so pissed off at you cuz you’re not answering the phone, having his calls go to voicemail and maybe texts not going through. He thinks you blocked him again but your phone was just dead and before that you put it on dnd cause you was out hanging with your ppls and Garou be pissin you off no cap.

You unlocked your door jumping finding Garou sitting on your couch legs in a manspread as he watched you enter, his yellow eyes following your every move. “Boy what tf are you doing in my h-”He interrupts you. “So where you been?” You scoff at the audacity of this man. “Out.” He rolls his eyes.

“So you don’t know how to pick up the phone?” You put your keys and stuff down heading towards the kitchen. “My phone died sassy ass nigga. But that don’t explain why you in my crib.” He followed behind you watch your ass as you lean over getting a water bottle from the fridge.

“I picked the lock but that doesn’t explain why you ain’t answer my texts for two days.” You turn around closing the refrigerator door leaning on your counter taking a few gulps from the bottle.

Donnie Darko- And at number one is Donnie because even though Bubble Boy was my first Jake movie I ever remember seeing him in, it was Mr Darko that made me sit up and pay attention. All of 10 years old in the movies with my sister that dragged me along to see this movie realizing, "oh shit, this is really something. “Hi? Is that really all you have to say to me right now? Where did you go? Never mind it doesn’t matter let me in.” Heather said as she tried to come in but I stopped her, I could hear Rodrick coming down the stairs and stopping in his tracks behind me.

“No.” Was all I could muster out, and Heather’s expression soured making it clear one word answers were only about to get me so far.

“What do you mean no? We have a billion things to talk about, like why that trashy wannabe drummer’s car is in your driveway. I know you’re in there Rodney! Or whatever your stupid name is!” I turned to look at him with a confused expression but it finally clicked that this was the Heather who’s sweet sixteen he ruined.

“His name is Rodrick, and no we do not have to talk about why his van is in my driveway. Honestly we don’t even have to talk at all! I get why you want too but you can’t just come at me all-all in my face like this! I remember things very well and I understand. I know what you know and what I know, and I’m perfectly fine with it staying that way if that’s what you want. We can talk about it more later but this is a lot for me right now, and I can’t handle you and everyone asking me a billion questions. I promise we will talk soon, but I’m not ready to talk right now okay.” I said in one big breath and looked from Heather to Racrn who had all kind of fallen back a while ago, Alejandro guided everyone back to Renatta’s car and after a few confused looks they drove off.

Heather was more persistent and still just stood there, I could see a swirl of unidentifiable emotions in her eyes but eventually she just huffed and turned to drive away as well. I shut my front door and pressed my back up against it, I brought my hands up to cover my face as I slid to the door. This was all so stupid, over a small little meeting three years ago. Seeing Heather again just brought back so many emotions, having everyone wanting to ask a bunch of questions, and not knowing where Heather and I even stood now. It’s been three years but I can’t imagine we have anything close to what we did at the resort, but then there’s Rodrick who was here to witness this entire mess.

I looked over at him, he sat on the floor beside me with his legs crossed looking like a concerned puppy. I couldn’t help but laugh at the sight, though my laughter quickly turned into tears. Everything was just so overwhelming I couldn’t help but cry, after a moment I felt Rodrick arms pull me into a hug. He smelt like honey and pine but oddly enough also banana bread, I hugged him back as he let me cry onto his shoulder. I cried so hard I couldn’t even tell when I had stopped crying, or when I had fallen asleep.

I was currently on a family vacation on the warmer side of California, I sat on a quieter side of the beach enjoying the salty air and cool breeze, my family had left the hotel a while ago to go and sightsee but I wanted to stay in and visit the beach. The sand wiggled its way between my toes as I dug my feet into the sand and under my nails as I absentmindedly drew pictures in it. It was a tranquil moment and it was everything I needed after the awful year I’d had at school, I still couldn’t understand how kids could be so cruel and mean. I wasn’t hurting anyone, I was just like them.

I heard the huffing and puffing of someone as the stormed onto the beach, I could tell they were approaching me as the angry sound of their sandals slapping against their feet got closer and louder. I looked up and was greeted by the sight of a pretty blond girl, glaring down at me through her sunglasses. I faintly recognized her as from one of the families staying in the same hallway as my family.

“Hey you, you’re in room one twenty-four yes?” I opened my mouth to respond but she didn’t let me, “Good. Then go back there, I need this side beach to myself.” She said in a snooty voice with a huff crossing her arms and everything, I was about to just give in when I noticed the tear sliding down her cheek.

“Are you sure, sorry if this comes off wrong but you look like you could use someone to talk to…” I said quietly with a half smile, inviting her to join me on the sand.

She scoffed flipping her hair over her shoulder and looking over towards the open sea, she still sat down beside me though. Neither of us said anything for a long while, just enjoying the view and cold breeze before finally, I decided to say something.

“I-I have a big secret, and I told my best friend what it was thinking she’d accept me but… now the whole school knows. Everyone looks at me differently now, they treat me differently too. It sucks because I didn’t do anything, I just wanted to be loved like everyone else y’know?” I said softly with a sniffle as I felt tears form in the corners of my eyes, she still didn’t say anything for a moment but I could tell she was crying too.

“Yeah, I think I know a little to well, but I haven’t told anyone my secret. I couldn’t even if I wanted to, my family would kill me if they ever knew. I just don’t get why, I just hate being like this. I don’t want to feel this way.” She said turning to look at me, and I was able to see her eyes more clearly as she’d taken off her sunglasses now.

She was certainly pretty with them on but even prettier with them off, I leaned over and hugged her. She hesitated but hugged me back, I could feel her tears trickling down her chin onto my shoulder, and I was certain she could feel mine doing the same. We just sat there holding each other and crying for who knows how long, eventually we let go and started to talk about other things.

We didn’t have a whole lot in common but there was still a decent amount of things, we talked and talked until the sun went down. Then we talked through the entire walk back to our hotel rooms, as we stood out in the hallway in front of her door we just looked at each other quietly. I just smiled and gave her another hug, and we promised to hang out the next day. Which we did, we practically hung out almost every day of our vacation.

Though eventually it was nearing time for her to leave, they only had planned to visit for a few days. So here we sat on the last day of her vacation on the same beach where we met, the sun was starting to set which meant we would have to return to our hotel soon. I looked away from the horizon and over at her, it was windier today so her hair occasionally floated behind her like something out of a movie scene. She turned to look at me as she felt me staring, I quickly looked away with an awkward smile on my face deciding to look down at the sand instead.

“Can… can I tell you something?” She started hesitantly, I looked up at her curiously.

“Yeah of course, what’s up?” She took a deep breath and met my gaze, I knew that look in her eyes and exactly what she was feeling. I just gave her a reassuring smile and listened.

“My family is very religious and has always told me that love comes in a very specific way. But I’ve always known that I didn’t fit in with their way, and at first, I hated myself because I wasn’t like them. Then I met you, and you weren’t ashamed to not fit into their way. You’re just so.. so you, unafraid and proud. Which I think has kind of rubbed off on me these past few days, so I wanted you to be the one I told. So… I’m gay, I like- no I love women and I really want to thank you for helping me feel assured enough to proudly say that.” She let out a shaky sigh before laughing happily and collapsing back onto the sand, I laughed with her and did the same.

“Felt good didn’t it? It’s so exhilarating being able to say it out loud with no repercussions.” I replied with a smile on my face, her words made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

“Yeah it does, my heart is like actually beating super fast right now. It’s also like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, I feel like dancing.” She turned to me with an excited grin on her face, “Omg please dance with me!”

She jumped up onto her feet and pulled me along with her, I giggled and took her hands in mine. It was a bit awkward at first but we eventually found our rhythm, her hands ended up on my shoulders and mine on her waist. She hummed a tune as we danced around slowly in the sand, her skin glowed in the setting sun, and holding it made my face grow a thousand shades of red.

Our eyes met and she smiled at me, I couldn’t help but smile back as our dance slowed to a halt. We just stood there staring into each other’s eyes, this would probably be the last time we’d ever see each other as they had a flight earlier in the morning. It was a sad thought but enviable.

“Don’t forget about me okay? I mean it, if I see you again and you don’t say hi to me I’ll make your life hell.” She said her snooty attitude returning slowly, I just smiled and nodded.

Though an idea came into my head, without a second thought I went for it. I brought my hands up from her waist to her cheeks and lightly pressed my lips on hers, she was surprised but quickly returned the kiss. It only lasted a few seconds but I made sure to engrain those few seconds permanently into my memory, from the smell of her perfume mixing with the salty air down to the taste of her mango lip gloss.

“There, now neither of us will forget. I don’t know if it was yours but that was my first kiss and I could never forget that.” I said with a soft laugh as my cheeks burned red.

“It was mine too, but I’m really glad it was with you. We should probably go now though, I have an early flight.” She said with a sad smile and I nodded.

“One more dance before we go?”

She nodded and this time I took a more dominant role in our dance, trying to recall any romantic dance scene I’d ever seen on TV. I spun her round and round and danced up and down the beach, but finally, I spun her into me dipping her lightly and holding her there. She looked down at my lips then up at me and we both smiled, we kissed one last time and ended our dance with us both grinning ear to ear.

I woke up slowly with faint memories of a dream but it faded as I tried to recall what happened. I went to sit up but I was instantly pulled back into Rodrick. Who had apparently moved us both onto the couch while I slept and then fallen asleep himself. I had learnt over the summer just how heavy of a sleeper he was and how unbelievable strong he is under all those baggy tees and skinny jeans. Lugging around his drum set all the time made him pretty strong, unsurprisingly. I wiggled out of his arms that held me to him and sat up, stretching my aching back and sleeping legs. I could hear my mom in the kitchen humming along to the radio as she messed around in the kitchen, most likely making dinner.

I yawned and joined her in the kitchen, she gave me a knowing look with a grin on her face before turning back to the chicken Alfredo she was cooking on the stove. I grabbed a cup from the cabinet and got some water out the filter in the fridge.

“So, is your friend staying for dinner?” She said over emphasizing friend like she always does when we talk about Rodrick.

“Maybe? He’ll probably sleep through dinner like the last time though.” I joked sipping away at my water as I glanced over at him.

“That boy could sleep through an earthquake, anywho how was your nap sweet pea? Seeing you too all cuddled up was so cute, I remember when your father and I were at that age.” She said with a laugh and a dreamy look in her eyes as she turned off the stove, and got ready to serve dinner.

I just rolled my eyes trying not to smile and walked away, I went over to the couch where Rodrick still slept. He had moved into an uncomfortable position yet still slept soundly, I debated whether or not to wake him by pouring water on him but decided to be nice. I nudged him lightly and he didn’t even stir, I set my water down on the coffee table and shook him wildly whilst calling his name.

“Mmm fibe more minutessee…” He muttered shooing me away as he turned over, I groaned and grabbed my water.

“Wake up Rodrick! You can’t sleep on my parents couch again, four times in two months is over kill!” I said letting a little bit of water trickle down onto his face, he sputtered and waved his hand in the stream of water.

“What-what! Are you trying to drown me?!” He said frazzled as he wiped some of the water off his face and splashing the droplets onto me, I laughed and shook my head.

“I wouldn’t have to drown you if you didn’t sleep like a damn zombie!”

“Language, sweetpea!” My mom called out from the kitchen glaring around the corner at me.

“Sorry! But yeah wake up, it’s late. Are you going to stay for dinner, or go home? I doubt my mom or dad would mind having you again.”

“Nah, I should uh probably head home. Thanks for skip- spending the day with me but uhm I’ll see you later.” He said standing up and towering over me for a moment.

Our eyes locked onto each others, his hair fell loosely into his face and was a mess from sleeping on the couch. He looked as if he were in a trance and I couldn’t help but feel a bit flustered from how intensely he was looking at me. After a moment he just smiled awkwardly and gave me a hug then waved goodbye to my mom before practically bolting out the front door.

My mom gave me and odd look that I returned with a shrugged and locked the door behind him, I returned to the kitchen as my mom put dad’s plate in the microwave. She handed me mine and we sat down at the dining room table just eating quietly for a minute.

“So, how was your first day back at school sweet pea?”

“It was good, got to see everyone at least once today. But uhh something interesting happened too.”

“What else happened today?” She said setting down her fork and looking at me her face etched with concern.

“Nothing like what you’re thinking mom! Things are different here, I think. But do you remember that girl I told you I met when we went on vacation a few years back…?” She looked confused but nodded after a moment urging me to continue. I explained the entire situation to her, tearing up a bit as talking about it still had me a little overwhelmed.

“Well that’s quite the pickle you’re in sweetie, but just because you’re new friends are curious doesn’t mean you have to tell them anything. You met Heather before hand and that’s all they need to know, but with Heather it’s just a matter of letting her know what she meant to you and whether or not you want to leave things as fond memories from the past. Straight forward and honest communication is the best route, well maybe not straight.” She tilted her head to side with a shrug and I couldn’t help but laugh, some of the tears pricking my eyes fell but I wasn’t as sad or overwhelmed now.

“Thanks mom, that helped.” I said with a smile and we both went back to eating, though we stopped when we heard the front door open.

“Hey honey, dinners in the microwave for you and still warm.” Mom said standing and giving him a peck on the cheek, he gave a tired smile returning the affection givingr a kiss on my head before he left to shower.

School continued on somewhat normally, I was able to make it through the first week without being bombarded by questions from every which way. The only thing that had truly remained normal was Rodrick, we hung out pretty much everyday. Sometimes we’d do homework and I’d actually be able to get him to turn it in, it was a struggle on its own getting Rodrick to even do the homework though.

I chuckled to myself before taking another sip of my slushy, feeling the chill of the blue raspberry and cherry concoction shoot through the rest of my body. Rodrick glanced over at me raising an eyebrow curiously as he slurped his slushy loudly, I just shook my head laughing again at how obnoxious he could be.

“I just saw some grubby kid rubbing his hands over all the merchandise in that zumez, I hate that people let there kids run around and put their germs on everything bleh.” I scrunched up my nose and stuck my purplish tongue out to show my disgust.

“Yeah, at least you don’t have siblings. It’s like the gross kids at the mall followed you home.” He said with an exaggerated horrified expression leaning towards me and nudging me with his elbow as I laughed.

“Eww even worse! Just know you’re always safe from them at my place, which reminds me. Do you want to come over tonight and watch a movie? My mom said she was gonna make spaghetti.”

“Oh uh maybe, I was thinking maybe we could go out to see a movie instead..?” Rodrick said stuffing his hand deeper into his pocket as he lowered his slushee.

“Yeah sure, do you have a movie in mind? Oh oh that new Scream movie came out!” I said turning towards him as I recalled what I saw online.

“I saw that too but there’s a new horror movie that also just came out, maybe we can movie hop to see both.”

“Of course we are, might as well sneak our own snacks in while we’re breaking the rules anyway.”

He nodded with a laugh and we continued to window through the mall for a bit longer, but now that we were excited for the movie’s loitering around the mall was no fun so we left early. We climbed back into Rodrick’s van, I slurped up the rest of my slushee which was basically fruity water now, then he drove off straight towards the local theatre.
