Fuck. Um. So, I wrote the aouad reaction fic. And I fully intended for it to just be season one. Like, I legit thought it would be a miracle if I accomplished that.
But you know, I did.
So, the more I think about it, the funnier I think it would be to do season two. Bring back all the s1 characters, who are essentially reacting how Ji-min did when the soldiers lowered her back down.
And when her parents died.
Hell, and during her death scene.
And all the new characters introduced in season two are just like ‘???? The fuck did I miss????’

Catch the Ghost
Tumblr media
There is a killer leaving bodies on the subway and it's up to the subway police to find them.
Ko Ji-Seok is the captain of the subway police now but he once was a rising star in the RIU. He gave it up because he wanted to be around more for his mother with dementia. Once he lets Yoo Ryung join the group things take a turn.
Yoo Ryung is looking for her sister Yoo Jin who is autistic and went missing two years ago. She suspects that she is another victim of the Subway Ghost, a serial killer who leaves bodies in the benches on the subway. She joins the Subway Police to track the killer and find her sister.
I watched this because I was looking for something as a filler between the three other shows I am watching currently. It has Kim Seon-Ho as Captain Ko Ji-Seok so I decided to give it a go. It has been a struggle to watch. It's not because Kim Seon-Ho or Moon Geun-Young, who plays Yoo Ryung, are bad. In fact, they are great but they added an unnecessary plot point.
From the beginning, there was a clash of personalities with Captain Ko and Rookie, as they refer to Officer Yoo. They were very different and of course, this leads to a romance. A romance that is unnecessary and leads to both Captain Ko and Rookie making some very dumb mistakes. Mistakes that, from what everyone else in the show says, Captain Ko would not make.
Catch the Ghost would have been far better without the romance element. They could have still made them have the personality clash without having them fall in love. He still could have risked his career to helping her without making it be motivated by love. The love story, and Ko's reason for dumping his ex are the worst parts of this show.
I loved piecing together who the Ghost was, what his motivations were, and why Rookie's sister was involved. I loved watching the Subway Police having to work with the RIU. I loved watching Ha Ma-Ri develop into a better character but I can not get over the need to have Captain Ko and Rookie fall in love.
If you want to check out Catch the Ghost you can find it on Amazon Prime Video. It's from 2019 so it's a little dated but overall it wasn't bad. I just couldn't get over the parts I hated.

This criticism actually makes a lot of sense. HoYeon Jung, Lee Yoo-mi and KIm Joo-Ryung played an important role in the first season. Without any women characters in the game, I probably won't be rooting for anyone to win. Men tend to be more selfish with money, while women tend to give more.
Lee Jung-jae spent an entire year being depressed and only decided to start giving his money after he finally conquered some of his demons.
I also think this is gonna have major lasting effects on Netflix. Many have been waiting on this and if the second season sucks, many will cancel their Netflix subscription.

[TRANS] 220921 YoonA’s Cine21 Issue 1373 Interview: ‘Confidential Assignment 2’ ‘Big Mouth’ actress Lim YoonA, 15 years as a singer, 15 years as an actress
Tumblr media
Q1. In August, the album commemorating the 15th anniversary of SNSD was released, and the promotion of ‘Confidential Assignment 2’ (hereby shortened as ‘CA2’) began around Chuseok. The drama ‘Big Mouth’ will finish its run on 17 September. You have already finished the filming for movie ‘2 O’clock Date’ in the summer and you will soon be starting the filming for drama ‘King The Land’. That is an enormous number of schedules. It has been really hectic. I didn’t know that the works would be released at one go like this. Although those are the works that I chose earlier on, but the only thing that was scheduled to be released (during this period) was only SNSD album. Due to COVID-19, there are many schedules that were pushed back and overlapped. As the filming of ‘Big Mouth’ took longer than expected, it overlapped with the filming of ‘2 O’clock Date’ and filming was delayed, and in the middle of this, ‘CA2’ was confirmed for Chuseok release. Some people may think that I am a greedy person, but the schedules weren’t originally planned like this. ‘CA1’ was released during the Lunar New Year period but ‘CA2’ was released during Chuseok. I think that it is a good thing, and I am working hard on the promotional activities.
Q2. Let’s start with ‘CA2’. What do you think are the reasons that Minyoung in the movie is well-loved by the audience? Minyoung in ‘CA’ plays the role of a scene-stealer among all the big seniors in the movie, many people were surprised just by the fact that I am playing this role. It is because she is completely different from the SNSD YoonA on stage. Minyoung watches Cheol Ryung (played by Hyun Bin) and Jin Tae (played by Yoo Haejin) and speaks and moves as if she is representing the hearts of the audience. I think she was highly liked because she is a character that the audience could empathize with.
Q3. In ‘CA1’ she was mainly in the position as an observer of the situations around, but in ‘CA2’ she participates in the cooperative investigation as well as playing an active role as a ‘walking search warrant’. Minyoung has also gotten a job and the volume and proportion of screentime has also increased. I always kept in mind that I should not lose Minyoung’s original charms. Wasn’t there a scene where I have to enter the club with ‘CA2’ team and had dancing scene. There is originally a scene where I entered the rooms together with them and participated in the search but that was edited out. If that scene wasn’t edited out, I would think the phrase ‘walking search warrant’ will be even more understood. The director must have watched and edited it out in order to balance the full picture, but I wanted to explain it to those who were wondering if it is over after entering the club with a search warrant.
Q4. It is special to produce a sequel and to appear in the sequel again. Is there anything that has changed personally from ‘CA1’ to ‘CA2’?   The fact that I accumulated more filmography in between, I guess it can tell the growth in me in many ways. During ‘CA1’, I was so nervous about how the audience would react to Minyoung. For ‘CA2’, I tried to do it with the thinking that Minyoung is a character that can only be played by me. This time round, I could enjoy a little bit of curiosity of finding out how the audience would react to her.
Q5. I could feel that Minyoung is much more relaxed in ‘CA2’. It is thanks to the good teamwork with the sunbaenims, the atmosphere at the filming set is also good and comfortable. I wanted to feel more at ease whenever I film projects. But I am still so nervous. Whether it is acting or performing, I can’t help but to feel nervous when I have to show what I have prepared. The staff around me asked me out of surprise sometimes, ‘How can you be still so nervous?’
Q6. Don’t you think the filmography that you have built up so far gives you confidence? I debuted almost simultaneously as a singer and actress. I am in the 15th year for both fields, but it feels awkward to say that I am in my 15th year as an actress. No matter what, I have more activities as a singer, so I am calculating the period of me being active as an actress based on that. In order to make myself become comfortable with the actress title, I am ‘working hard’ on building up my filmography. I am getting comfortable little by little.
Q7. The characters portrayed by actress Lim YoonA have different names, but they have similar characteristics. Like Jisoo of ‘Hush’, who declares, ‘Food is mightier than pen’, Euijoo of ‘EXIT’ and Miho of ‘Big Mouth’ are also strong in vitality and full of confidence. The characters that I played so far are proactive and smart. It seems to me that I have such aspects too. After watching ‘CA’ and ‘EXIT’, many people around me often said, ‘She is just like you’, ‘She resembles you.’ And perhaps because of this, I was able to visualise and express more freely whenever I play proactive characters. I think I am attracted to such a character because I am able to act more confidently.
Q8. In fact, you seem to be a proactive and confident person in reality. I tend to try a lot in order to achieve that. I tried not to compare myself to others by setting my own standards. If you take care and love yourself in a non-dogmatic way, you will be able to develop confidence naturally. In my early days in the industry, I realised that it is very tiring for me if I started comparing myself to others. I could not enjoy the situation and could not understand myself. I worked hard on changing my point of view and the direction of thoughts and not to fall into unwanted thoughts. Of course, it wasn’t possible to achieve it right from the start. (Laughs) This is something that requires a lot of practices.
Q9. You are also active in drama ‘Big Mouth’. In this ‘Big Mouth’ genre, Miho often encounters extreme situations. The scene where you were crying and grabbing Choi Doha (played by Kim Joo Hun) because you thought your husband is dead left a very deep impression for me. Crying and emotional scenes are always difficult. For this scene, it is thanks to my acting opponent, Actor Kim Joo Hun oppa’s consideration that I was able to pull it off. He encouraged me to hit and grab him as much as I could. It was cold as we were shooting this scene at dawn, oppa’s clothes were torn too. This was a scene that was accomplished because everyone worked hard on it. As I have more scenes with Kim Joo Hun oppa than my husband in the drama, so I felt closer to him. After watching that scene, he cheered me on by saying, ‘It seems like you went all out in your acting for it and I am so happy.’
Q10. Your character’s activeness stands out in the professional expertise. I felt such activeness from you when you are playing the role of a nurse or a reporter, I also felt it while watching YoonA’s Youtube video titled ‘Lim YoonA’s content meeting site’ (her first youtube video). I thought that singer and actress are more like performers, but I can see that you are a very experienced planner just by watching how you personally propose and decide on the SNS channel’s title and design in the video.  I tend to be more proactive when it comes to work. Even though I do follow well on what have been prepared, but I try to express my thoughts and feelings more than before. I am not a very creative person, but there are things that come from experience when it comes to looking for a better or more convenient method. I’m the type to suggest right away on what is needed or what I wish to add on. The main framework is presented, and detailed parts are often assembled well. Being proactive would be a matter of how much you express things, so I tend to express it well. When I was shooting earlier on, I also suggested that the white bag would look better than the black one, and I am thankful that the photographer accepted my opinion (Laughs).
Q11. At the age of 18, you starred in the daily drama ‘You Are My Destiny’ and has won the best newcomer award as well as best actress awards through your acting career. Can you feel a stage-by-stage change in your acting? I always prepare and do the same, but it might change from the perspective of viewers who watch me. On the contrary, through the different reactions I received, I can feel my change. I thought I was lacking but the people around me praised me and say it was good, so I think reactions are something that are unpredictable. Even though I do not know what the obvious changes are, but I can clearly feel that every time I take on a new project, something different from before are piling up.
Q12. Do you enjoy looking back at your past works? There are times when I feel this thing and acted it out, but it seems lacking when I check it out through the monitor. After feeling the gap in the performance level, I started reviewing my acting through the monitor. Even though it takes time for me to decide on something, but I’m the type that won’t have any regrets after choosing it. I make the decision considering the process rather than the outcome. I try not to dwell on the results by focusing on what I can achieve or grow through the process. It is only this way that I won’t be blaming others and the satisfaction I received from the choice I made will increase too.
Q13. As someone who is working, I think it’s a very wise attitude. Is this attitude the secret to why you can work continuously for 20 years without thinking of changing job? You will definitely gain something if you do it consistently. If you are able to work on something for 10 years no matter what it is, there will definitely be people telling you that you are amazing. After doing it for 10 years, I felt like I have the strength to continue doing it for another 10 years. It is a strength that comes from experience. (Laughs)
Q14. Last year you participated in the narration for barrier-free version of ‘House of HummingBird’ and through the movie ‘A Year-End Medley’, you also enthusiastically played your part with only your voice. While watching ‘Big Mouth’, I thought you are an actress with very good vocalization. While recording the (SNSD comeback) album with the members, I also felt that only my voice texture came out differently. I thought to myself, ‘Is my voice too weak?’ or ‘Is it not coming out beautifully?’ However, when it comes to acting, I thought that pronunciation is more important than the tone, so I tried to say my words accurately. Although the vocalization itself is not excellent, but I like the tone of my voice. However, just like acting, there are times when my real voice and my voice that is being broadcast through the media feel different. As there might be cases where the feeling might come out differently due to the subtle differences, so I pay attention on how to make my voice come out as naturally as possible.
Q15. You will be meeting the audience with movie ‘2 O’clock Date’ which is director Lee Sang Geun’s next film after ‘EXIT’ and also drama ‘King The Land’. This time it is a romance comedy. The drama ‘King The Land’ fits the romance comedy genre more whereas ‘2 O’clock Date’ feels like a new genre. I am playing a bright character, and the members asked me recently, ‘What kind of personality are you acting these days?’ As always there is brightness. Although they are cheerful characters, but they have different charms as compared to Minyoung.
Q16. Just like Miho’s smartness and Minyoung’s loveliness, are you playing characters that shown YoonA’s real sides this time too? Hmm...... the main character set-up for ‘2 O’clock Date’ is very unique,so I don’t think I can have such personality or element in real life (Laughs). After watching the movie, you will be able to understand why I said so.

So, I couldn’t wait and started my rewatch of The Princess’ Man. God, it grabbed me again from the very opening moment (side note - its theme music is still one of my all time favorite kdrama tracks; I am not particularly musical and find a lot of kdrama music pleasant but forgettable but the operatic feel of this is just to my liking.) That very very dramatic opening of silhouettes riding as the sun is gone - our ML, Seung Yoo, riding like hell, blood spattered face and desperation, and the camera cutting off to the notation of Sejo conducting his coup and verifying with a dude who we will eventually learn is our SML that he let SY escape as planned without suspecting anything. “He trusts me,” adds SML and I realize something I am not sure I caught the first time I saw this drama because I didn’t yet know any of these people and their relationships - a lot of SY’s eventual rage is actually directed at himself - it’s a form of guilt and blame. He is the one who led the pursuers to his father, he is the one who got him killed, is something he might think. But also, no wonder he eventually returns unable to trust - he must think his ability to judge character is terrible and he can be easily deceived - he fell in love with the daughter of the man who exterminated his clan who was pretending to be someone else and he didn’t know but also his closest friend betrayed him - how can he ever trust his own judgment of character ever again?
Anyway, the killers burst in and I love SY yanking a sword out of a corpse to defend his father. He’s not yet a killing machine but he has the bloody mindedness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But there are a ton of them and only one of him, and wounded to boot so it ends as well as it can be expected.
Tumblr media
You can perhaps see why, as I watched it during its airing, I expected a tragic ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as he goes unconscious by the dead body of his father, the way it zooms into his eye and we see happy memories and then her and them…in a very different time and so different.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it cuts to a year back and our FL Se Ryung, surely one of the best kdrama FLs for me. So happy and untroubled and miles from the bloody corpse strewn grounds of the fight for power.
Tumblr media
This is honestly as good as before.
I confess starting in medias res is one of my favorite narrative maneuvers because we watch stuff in full knowledge of darkness to come and it’s soooo good!
