God i am just so annoyed

So my friend is participating in a silly little internet singing contest with a grand prize of 20 USD (wowee such riches are being offered! Such prestige!!) And the way to win is through audience votes. The organisers have from the start been very clear about no botting or other forms of vote rigging being allowed. Supposedly they even reprimanded someone and adjusted votes for this during the first round of elimination votes. WELL NOT ANYMORE SUCKERS if you want to payola your votes or otherwise bribe people with kpop albums that'll likely cost more than that cash prize, that is a-okay, no problems here. Because according to the main organiser: it's not his money being spent and if it helps you be more visible why not.

I get the irony of me being irrationally upset over this. It is after all a silly little internet contest. The stakes are non-existant and IM NOT EVEN THE ONE COMPETING. It just rubs me the wrong way that people that are objectively worse performers are kicking people out of the running just because they've got time and money to spend. It becomes even more annoying that EVERY fucking tweet i see of them is them thanking their "fanbase" for voting and encouraging "them" to vote more next round. At least a fifth of your votes wouldn't be there if you didn't open a give away who are you thanking????
