I'm so tired of extremists on the internet, certain autistic traits can be good and bad, if someone talks of the good parts they get called an "aspie supremacist", if they talk of the bad parts people start saying "but society disables us not autism"

Honestly idk how to talk to people about this.

My take is that autism absolutely is a disability, and that saying things like "my eyes are so sensitive I can see in the dark, it's like a superpower" shouldn't be taken as literal eugenics. we KNOW it's not an actual superpower,

Whenever an autistic person online acknowledges a good aspect of their autism people jump to calling them an eugenist and say they are "claiming autism is the next human evolution" I've seen it so many times on tiktok... CHILL. People are allowed to have fun, seeing in the dark doesn't mean this person doesn't struggle in other aspects. I myself can see in the dark, it also means I can't see when it's light, I had to get used to do shit with my eyes closed.

Being extra good in sensing smell usually also means being often overstimulated by such smells. Everything is a two edge sword. The list goes on.

I'm so tired of people accusing others of horrible things just because they acknowledged an aspect of their disability as being a good/fun/useful trait.

People being like "the lower supports autistics are invalidating us 🙄" when in reality they are talking of their own personal lives. What happened to "autism is a spectrum and everyone has different experiences and skills"?

"why so many autistic people refuse to be called autistic or disabled?" maybe because so many times the autistic community itself tells people they aren't "disabled enough" or that their experience is "supremacist", that their mere existence hurts the autistic community. It's more than just general ableism in ND society. If someone gets called a supremacist whenever they share their personal experience of course this person wont feel as they are welcome in there.

There ARE aspie supremacists out there, but I'm seeing so many people get called that when they haven't said or done anything wrong and it just saddens me

The welcome home fandom is so silly cuz our understanding of the lore and the characters is so minimal yet we have made so many head-canons (ie; yandere Wally, Home being evil) that are just implanted into the minds of the fans now so that if more updates come out and they disprove those hcs everyone is gunna get whiplash

so i’ve never read the LOTR books or the hobbit. Watched the LOTR movies, but not the hobbit cuz i heard it was bad. Now i hear that the Ring? Rings, of Power seeies is going to be terrible and that it has all this hate, but i’m not really in the fandom, so i decide to read what they are saying as to why, and oh dear, it’s the racism, bunch of racist fanboys, okay, tbh still haven’t watched it so maybe it is like Supergirl level condescendingly woke with zero nuance, but idk, i kinda doubt it

Nico and Percy's dynamic through the series is eternally funny to me, because it's just. like.

Percy's having a constant mental struggle between his fatal flaw of loyalty with a promise he made to Bianca to protect Nico, versus his Big 3 kid desire to maim other Big 3 kids / Poseidon descendant urge to totally maim Nico specifically. He hates Nico so so much. He thinks Nico's annoying and weird at best, and creepy/sketchy when he's older. The only positive thoughts Percy has towards Nico are "He's Bianca's brother and Bianca was my friend and I owe her/He's Hazel's brother and Hazel is my friend and would kill me if I was mean to him," "He's a powerful asset and useful ally (if questionable)," and "He's kinda pathetic and I feel maybe a little bad about it." Percy has multiple occasions throughout the series where he strongly considers - and on one occasionally actually goes through with - throttling Nico.

Meanwhile, Nico is following around Percy like a lost puppy. He explicitly can never bring himself to even dislike anything about Percy no matter how hard he tries. He has a whole bit in BoO where he's mentally going "UGH he's so stupid BUT IT'S ENDEARING HOW DARE HE." He's totally smitten. He's making deals with his dad for Percy. He's making convoluted plans to help Percy stand a chance against Kronos. During the entirety of BoTL it's like he's playing tsundere - "I'm helping NOT PERCY SPECIFICALLY with this quest! Me helping Percy would be SILLY because I DEFINITELY HATE HIM." Then he proceeds to show up to Percy's birthday party to basically ask him on a weird date and spend the entire next book scrambling around trying to help him or protect him or impress him. And Percy could not give less of a shit.

Just. That dynamic is so funny to me. Percy is the founder of the Nico Protection Club in that he's the one they're all protecting Nico from and meanwhile Nico is throwing himself at Percy to the point where the literal god of gay love calls him out on it.

you ever just have a lot, a LOT of feelings all at once about a character and not even remotely enough words or brainpower to FORM the words to describe everything you're feeling. so it feels like you may explode. yeah

I love TOA so fucking much. The way it makes it clear that the gods are people. The way it makes us realize that so many of them are victims too. The way it tells us that they might've been victims once, but now they're almost as bad as their abusers

The emotions of a human are not things a god should feel. Apollo says this multiple times. Humans feel bad when they kill others. They love, hate, get angry — they are happy. Their lives are so so short, but they somehow manage to change drastically during them, shaping the world after their image in a different (and sometimes better) way than the gods'

Gods cannot do any of this. Gods are immortal, unchanging, uncaring. Gods leave their children to die. Gods have sex only to abandon their lovers later. Gods are jealous beings, the opposite of good people. Gods are not people at all, is what they want us to think

But Apollo, turned human and far weaker than he ever was, is still a god. He has thousands of years of memory — he is jealous, he abandoned his children and lovers, he sent little kids to do things for him when he could've very easily done it himself. And yet, he cares. He's surprisingly selfless, even if he tries to convince us otherwise, and he loves and has given up on expecting something in return

Apollo is a god. Apollo is the living proof that gods aren't unchanging — he's the reason we know that gods are people. Some very powerful and fucked up people, but people nonetheless

And here's the thing: Apollo's given up on all that, a long time before we see him for the first time. The gods used to care. But their caring brought pain and despair upon the world and they don't seem to realize (or maybe they just don't care. Ha. Pun) that their uncaring attitude is doing the exact same thing

Even if they could, some of them wouldn't visit their children. They're not good people, after all. But they can try

Apollo wants to try. He wants to change for the better, and this isn't something good for a god, but he still does. And I think that the other gods could too, some day

So we know that Marlow would get along with Hancock (wonderful, blessed, love it), but I’m curious, do you think he’d get on well with Nick?

Oh this is an awesome question, thanks so much for asking it! More to read below :)

Nick and Marlow have a very strained relationship, despite being on the same team? They're both vigilantes fighting for justice and safety, but while Nick is the methodical detective type, Marlow can be more of a, well…volatile…executioner? He lives his life in extremes and his methods can be pretty wild, though his heart is in the right place and he's done a lot of good for what's left of humanity. Sometimes he does straight up participate in some unsavory activities, though… so it's natural for people to have varying opinions on him.

Since their personalities are so different, when Marlow hangs around the Commonwealth before the events of FNV and FO4, these two butt heads quite a lot. Nick is a very kind and patient person, but even Richie wears his patience very thin. It doesn't help that Nick keeping tabs on him like a potential threat drives Marlow CRAZY. Nick and the community's caution towards Rich kind of turns him into a self-fulfilling prophecy… a common theme in Marlow's story.

In short, Marlow travels to the Commonwealth after his heartbreak in the Capital Wasteland to find a new home, but he leaves for New Vegas even more disheartened than before. Nick does have a some part in this after he proves to be a more suitable protector and role model for the area, but it's not like that was Nick's goal at all. Nick really does wish the best for Marlow, and if Marlow has the chance to work on himself and heal his heart in FNV, they get to have a much better relationship in the future :)
