Once again thinking about aliens and nests and managing on a spaceship but now I have more to add to it:

A species where, if you put down something soft, they immediately lay down on it and do not like being moved, like cats

A burrowing species in constant disagreements with a nesting species over blankets since they aren’t allowed to dig up the ground so going under a pile of blankets is their substitute

(yes this is the same nesting species that’s always trying to steal blankets from humans because “they don’t nest”)

A species that’s used to having a ton of others in their habitats when they sleep trying to get anyone they’re friends with to join their sleep area

A species that does not sleep near others trying to get members of the previous species to please stay away

Humans trying to sleep on their mattresses without getting freaked out by the members of the species that sleep on the walls but faced away from them so they can keep an eye out for danger and aw man do they really have to be faced towards there it looks like they’re watching the human while they sleep

Humans also trying to not get freaked out by any burrowing species sleeping under their bed, it’s just their friends, no need to think about a monster, you’re an adult now get a grip it’s just lieutenant W- oh god what was that noise oh they’re just getting settled

Ceiling species :)

Species that just go wherever it’s comfortable not understanding why humans don’t share their mattresses

And

Relatively large species with sort of a preying mantis type body and the larger members sleep sorta standing/sitting (their lower limbs make it so that when they’re resting they’re still kinda hovering instead of lying/sitting flat) over smaller members to keep them safe and they are all larger than a majority of other species so there are many to watch over! (everyone else is a little bit unsettled but it’s such a nice gesture that no one ever tells them not to)

The fact that Leo can go literally anywhere on earth to be alone with his thoughts at a single moment’s notice is something that shakes around in my head all the time. Like, portals and teleportation are amazing and convenient abilities both in and out of battle, but they could also so easily be used to run away as well.

I don’t think Leo ever would, at least not most of the time. He loves his family too much, and is too dependent on their love and attention to cut himself off so suddenly like that, but it’s a very real possibility nonetheless.

It’s a good thing Leo’s overall temper is more on the mild side and he prefers going to his room or something to complete solitude, because it really is dangerous for a kid to have the ability to isolate themselves like that at their fingertips.

the first round is the best round. everything is always happening all the time. pucks bounce. goalies get hot. there WILL be an upset and it WILL get messy.

don’t get involved in online arguments about dirty hits or injuries or fights. it happens every year and it’s never any fun.

if your team is no longer in it: bandwagon a random team for a silly reason. best jersey. scariest mascot. least annoying fanbase. it’s more fun when you have something to care about.

everyone will complain about the reffing the entire time and they’ll all be right.

try to be considerate. no hate in other teams’ tags.

if all else fails: root for the most dramatic outcome. hockey gods love mess. you’ll never be disappointed.

no. just… no.

hot take: this doesn’t work for people with adhd (in my experience/from what i’ve heard from other people with adhd in my life). i recommend doing the easy/moderately difficult stuff first, that way you can convince yourself that it’s all going to be this easy and undemanding. then hyper-focus will kick in because your brain is like, “yeah, we can do this, we’ve got this.” then, before you know it, you’ve completed both the easy tasks and the hard tasks while hyperfocusing.

like, on a serious note, it’s always been easier for me to convince myself to get the most difficult tasks done when i’m already working/in the working frame of mind, not when i’m laying in bed or sitting on the couch, mindlessly scrolling through stuff on my phone, and struggling to start at all.

if the choice comes down to you not starting at all or starting with the easiest task first (which, for me, it often does), always, always pick starting with the easiest task first. sometimes you need a small victory, a little bit of an accomplishment, to give you the courage to take on bigger challenges.
