Hello, i’ve recently started reading your blog after reading your fic. I like reading opinions on the characters and i’ve just read you post about laena. I think you are spot on about her and its nice to see that i wasn’t the only one not fangirling about her. Just like you i never cared for laena as she was a character that had no pull to me. In fact, i only became curious about her because i was curious on how she’ll be portayed in the show. Personally, i had no problems with how she was portrayed as i’ve felt there wasn’t much about her written to begin with.

Personality? Agreed, what personality? All described personality of hers was all the common shared personalities of her relatives. Which is why i’m surprised when i see people saying she’s their favourite or she’s their best girl/queen. Sure everyone can like whoever they want but its usually with reason like the character is interesting. The only thing interesting about laena was her relation to rhaenyra and daemon. There wasn’t anything about her that made her laena, it was always about rhaenyra’s bff laena or daemon’s wife laena. I agree with you that the reason so many people like her is because they can easily use her as a self-insert. Who wouldn’t want to be the woman who “changed” the rogue prince?

I also believe that her and Daemon wasn’t romantic on BOTH sides. There’s nothing wrong with that considering the world they live in. Worst matches had been made and i think they both know that. How does so many people believe she was his great love? Is it because they couldn’t get over the fact that the singers said he fell in love with her? Or because there isn’t a word about him sleeping around while being married to her? Its actually curious that the book was written in a way to make daemon seem like he was the perfect man to laena but a terrible one to rhaenyra.

Her relationship with rhaenyra however was more explained than her marriage to daemon. I do believe it was nothing more than a platonic friendship. Just because rhaenyra was fond of her doesn’t mean they were romantic or had a poly situation with daemon. People seem to forget that rhaenyra had no actual friends at all so her becoming fond of laena is not surprising. It is quite funny that laena ended up being friends with the woman who was in love and wants her husband. I’m also curious if she knew about rhaenyra and daemon’s relationship. If she did, i don’t think she would have a problem since nothing is said about her feelings for daemon and i think she is aware of his reputation and the actual relationship of her brother and rhaenyra.

i Do enjoy being in a fandom, i've always looked up to the danny phantom phandom a lot cause the vibes there are just fantastic, there's a lot of things going on, people have many interactions with each other, so i wanted to try to introduce that to the batim fandom and i'd like to think that i sorta did

i know that it is a popular opinion to not engage with a large portion of the fandom but instead just grab a few friends and sit in a corner with them but like

engaging with a bigger portion of the fandom every now and then can be SO fun and give people an opportunity to meet other people and idk

fandoms are communities of people just united by liking A Thing so it can be challenging to make a space for many people to get along but i dont recall any super serious only fandom related dramas in batim?? weirdos are in every fandom and you just blast their asses into oblivion with a block button

and there have been cases when i felt kinda bad for blocking someone because that meant i'd exclude them from something i wanted to think of as a fandom-wide event for everyone who would obey it's rules but that's where this outlook on curating your experience into a smaller circle is very much the way to go lol

aha yea 2019-2022 everything fucking DIED here but i was having a blast drawing my comic and also a lot of people who were into the sides of batim i was into mainly (the human characters) stayed around more than everyone else and it was really chill, i've met a lot of people and made many friendships :)

as the fandom was getting smaller there was a noticable drop in the amount of notes batim related posts were getting which is a very big symptom of a fandom dying but i think at some point it sorta stabilized who stayed there after batdr was delayed and delayed

i reblog and tag more than an usual tumblr user (when im active cuz sometimes i can not reblog anything for months because im busy lol) and that didnt start without a reason, it sure is a habit now and i really enjoy doing it, letting people know what i think about their stuff and putting nice things on display for others to see

reblogs are not just crucial for singular artists but also for fandoms as a whole, thats how you keep that train rollin

though here is a sad thing that many many artists dont reblog a lot, or reblog to their sideblogs that arent followed by nearly as many people as their main blogs

and thats like understandable, im the weirdo who puts a whole mess of many posts on my main but i think thats also the most effective way to help other people get traction and i never see this mentioned when people complain that tumblr users dont reblog as much stuff as they like

its even kinda funny to me when people complain about their stuff not getting reblogged when they dont reblog others stuff themselves at all xD though there is a bit of cyanide in that thought heheh

on the other hand reblogging doesnt work on stuff that i could see from other people: the stuff i reblog i get from browsing the bendy and the ink machine tag sorted by new + sometimes when i bored i scroll through my dash and reblog some random things but i follow 2k people so i dont really see any individuals art specifically, just a collection of random posts that i am able to scroll through in a few minutes (and every minute theres a bunch of new posts posted/reblogged by those i follow)

and that can take a long time! if ive been busy for months then scrolling through a few months worth of stuff people around the world made for bendy is so bad even on a beefy computer that it just pushes tumblr to its limits and takes HOURS to reblog and tag for me, and then i might even hit the daily post limit and have to continue tomorrow

but i enjoy doing this, bendy is my fixation after all and i fucking love art and what people can create for this thing that i like i soooooo desire to see it all

and i try to reblog as much as possible, though i dont obviously reblog *everything* from the tag, sometimes i just give a like or i just dont like the thing cuz its not in my liking and thats it

but i did make it a thing that during ink demonth i reblog all entries for the event no matter what my opinion of them is just to give some of that Exposure TM because hey maybe some of my followers Will like it

i dont run a super duper popular blog but there is a bunch of yall there and i think me reblogging something in this fandom at least may give a litol boost to the notes on a post

Oh yeah gloria is a cheeto

Okay so i feel the need to adress this for...literally no reason i just feel the need to say something about it, so i came back to the h&h fandom out of nowhere after months of no interacting and getting out of discord reason being that it got boring after a while, so whem miracle child was release i kinda didn't know what to think about it and also did not play much attectiom to it outside of that one drunk and sleep deprived post i made, the only think i got out of it was "well i guess gloria sucks now lmao" and butch of horrible jokes about infertility, so whem i came back last week i thought maybe is time to actually put out my thoughts about one of favorite characters and how do i actually still stan them despiste the change of pespetive, now i have to make this very clear i like gloria on a personal level the woman became one of my comfort characters, someone or something i could relate and use it was coping whem i need it, and that is something that haven't change if anything the new info about her makes me like enjoy her was a character even more because makes the whole situation more complicated and opens the doors to a lot of possibilitys for interpretation,expeculation and headcannons. So let's talk about the elephant in the room, the cheating was always a possibility it was hitted was far back to the 2020 videos and where it was a matter of time to know the truth a yes and no type of question and the anwser is yes she did, and i'm going to say something that has been on my chest for a while now, i do not think she did it out of love for martin, gloria cheated on him most likely out of her own selfishness and even if none of fucked up supernatural shit happend this whole situation would not have ended well, the greywhinder kids are probably already set on a path of emocional turmoil from the moment they are born regardless of the outcome, plus Martin didn't lie about how important this was for him, yeah the way he put it sucks but it comes from a place of honestly, that's the biggest irony here, "but madame what about the domestic abuse??" Well, these things can coexist; you can be a victim and the idiot of a situation. I have no doubt for now that Martin was abusive to both his children and Gloria at some point, if not always. To me, this new context didn't change much my likeability of the characters because I'm fine with them being horrible; they aren't real people, and because of that, it's okay to like them for who they are as characters.

- i have read some debates from the pespective of miracle/rainbow children on their parents and there is this interesting point some of them make about the ones with bad parents, a lot of the time the parents are not with love with the children or parenthood but more so to their ideal children, is not uncommon for people to have expectations whem comes to becoming a parent or how their kids will be and that's fine and all but whem you decide to consider having a kid is important to ground yourself in reality and understand that your kid is own being and the reality of raising children is nothing like your personal fantasy, i'm bringing this because of martin's obssesion with control and dicipline in my opinion he could very well be frustated that his kids aren't was well behaved or controlled like he imagine them to be, they are noisy,annoying and oblivous to his requests and feelings which only complicates things.

-A lot of people with fertility issues usually have a grief period in which they come to accept their condition; you can imagine why this guy didn't.

-The only thing I don't like about this plot twist is Arthur. Before,  it felt like he was someone who was stepping in to help things for his family, and now it just comes off to me as "he is just taking responsibility for something he did have a hand in..

-There's something that is oddly funny to me in the finale. When Martin starts to talk about his current position in the H&P, I can almost see Gloria rolling her eyes into oblivion and questioning why she even asked for his help, like her mind is on her son vanishing. Martin starts to rant, and for a half second, the woman is like "Oh my lord, I CANNOT FUCKING BELIEVE!".

I know, recency bias and all. But hush. The first chapter of this story could have been a story all on its own. I'm going to elaborate on what I like so much about this story in a comment here soon but long story short, I love how Huey is portrayed. Della too. Also Jamie has mentioned that her stories can be traced back to experiences she's had, and I can feel that going through this one. So much vivid detail that takes an experience I've never even touched and makes me feel like I'm living it. Not to mention how Huey feels relatable to me personally (thanks, neurodivergence!). Anyway, get your peepers out for this one, and your reading glasses if you've got em. It'll be a good one.

Come to think of it, this fic might have been a huge inflection point for me. It was probably the first time I ever realized that Violet Sabrewing is Literally Me (TM) because she's autistic and ace and plays chess what is there not to love. But also going through it again, I feel like this at least indirectly inspired "My Head is an Animal". Specifically, the part where Violet has a breakdown and Lena consoles her. Also also, not really related to anything I've done yet, but it got me to take May Duck seriously as a character. One of those moments where I realized that fanfiction could take a one-off clone of somebody else and give them depth, personality, etc. Not that she didn't have that in the show, but I think anybody would tell you that we didn't get very much May Duck content in DT17. Without this fic, we would have never been May'd. Send this to your friends to totally May them.

This was my genesis in the DuckTales 2017 brain rot. I don't care if these end up aging terribly and turns out there's a trillion typos and also it was written in Gaelic so I can't even read it and actually it was all a dream and none of it ever happened. These three are still going to have a special place because they opened me up to being a fan of something. I was just ranging out of that age where you were supposed to hide if you liked stuff, especially anything for kids. My nostalgic pandemic-era binge of Phineas and Ferb, for example, was something to feel shameful of, not enjoy every second of like I ended up doing. But watching DuckTales, and then immersing myself into this fandom shortly thereafter, taught me how to enjoy things. How to love things. How to love myself. Since 2021, I've spent a lot of time embracing who I am and learning to love myself. I'm not gonna say that DT17 taught me how to do all of that, but I will say that it showed me how doing so could make me so much happier in life. And here I am now, being happy in life. Funny how that works.

41: Do you tend to reread fics or are you a one-and-done kind of person?

This answer applies to pretty much everything. Movies, tv shows, and yes, reading stuff. I don't rewatch/reread stuff unless I have a reason to do so. It's nothing against the concept or anything, just that I always feel like I need a reason for doing whatever I do. Usually if I rewatch/reread something, it's because I want to check a specific part of it, like quoting a line properly or what have you. Even the fics that I linked up top, I haven't reread them in the two years since I found them. That's just how my brain works I guess.

62: Thoughts on cliffhangers?

I'm fine with cliffhangers as long as they're eventually resolved. I used a few in "Groundhog Day", and that was fun to do. I'll also say that as a writer, cliffhangers in actively updated fics are a neat little trick to get people talking. Want some free feedback? Just have Lena Sabrewing wake up in a void outside of time and space. And then just end the chapter. Comments go wild for that.

As a reader, cliffhangers are alright but it comes with a big caveat: I'm not the best at remembering what I last read. So if it's been a few days or a week since the cliffhanger, I might have some trouble remembering where we are in the story. It might be a smooth transition where we pick up exactly where we left off, but that might not click in my brain. Idk it's weird. And like I said I tend not to reread stuff that often so that complicates things.

🪀 OOC Posts: I don't think OOC posts necessarily affect my writing flow one way or the other. For the most part, I think I'm largely OOC-post neutral: I often enjoy seeing snippets of fellow muns' day to day lives or thoughts behind their writing process, things like that. OOC posts about their fandoms/muses in particular even frequently send me into peoples' DMs like "OH ON THAT NOTE HERE'S A THOUGHT-", so I enjoy those to some extent. And I always love ooc stuff that's still "roleplay related"/talking about relatable RP things.

I think the only OOC things I tend to really tune out are like... play-by-plays of fandom or real life events (so like the "read with me"/"watch with me" journeys?) - but I only get to that point when there's a ton of them. If that happens and there's a relevant tag for it I'll usually just hide it. I keep my following pretty small so like... if I'm following someone it generally means I'm interested in most if not all of their content!

🔦 Oh man, this is a fun one! For similarities, I'll start with the obvious: we're bday twins! I will never get over how excited I am about this. I think we're both the quiet/introverted type, enjoy learning about a wide variety of subjects in general, and are socially awkward/possibly both have RBF vibes. I think we both need to surround ourselves with people we love & mean something to. Differences: Law is much better at strategizing, he's obviously way smarter than I am, he's a good leader where I am definitely not, umm... he's not squeamish where I often am. We are both socially awkward but I think he's better at witty retorts and snark than I am, so that's a thing I struggle with a lot in RPs (especially lighthearted/fun stuff). I am very much the person that like... if you're insulting or teasing you pretty much have to let me know outright that you're doing it, or you're going to say something "funny" or "rude" or whatever and I'm going to blink and it's going to go right over my head. This can be funny when it manifests in my writing of Law sometimes, but it also wears me out because there are a lot of things where I'm like "I know he's have something cool and funny to retort with and I just... do not because I don't have a clever or funny bone in my body."

As for the last time I thought about Law? I'm always thinking about Law. I think it's fair to say @climatact can attest to this now that we've hung out in person but there's very little I see or hear or think about that doesn't turn into "how would Law respond, think, feel, etc" about this, "how would this look if it was law and [muse] -- that kind of thing. If I'm reading or watching a fandom and I see a good shutdoown/emotional breakdown happen I'm like "ah yes what would bring Law to this and do I need to go post a wishlist about this now that it's on my mind..." He's really just always there in my head on some level.

That popular post about how people on tumblr say they love gothic fiction but go on a witch hunt if people engage with gothic themes that often involve abuse and incest made me realize why I’ve always found it funny the way people in the atla fandom get up in arms about zucest. The Fire Nation royal family is the Ushers and the Rochesters and the Earnshaws and the Compsons and the Lannisters and whatever was going on in that attic with those flowers. This is the reason why Zuko x Azula is more common than say, Sokka x Katara. In general, I think a lot of people don’t understand why people have incest ships. It’s rarely about fetishizing familial relationships - which is why accusations that people who ship incest support it in real life don’t make sense - and in the case of zucest, it’s about those themes I mentioned above, not necessarily about the fact that they are brother and sister.

Side Note: this is also why “they’re like brother and sister” doesn’t hold up as an anti-shipping argument for ships when the characters aren’t related to each other, because 1) they aren’t, and 2) even if they were, that’s usually not what it’s about when fans DO ship incest.

I mean, I can understand criticism in the context of not wanting to engage in more “adult” themes with regard to children’s media, but a lot of the people I’ve seen who discourse about this DO praise atla for its otherwise mature and “adult” themes, so if you’re gonna do that, you have to accept what that actually means, or be responsible enough to curate your own experience and avoid the content that upsets you. I don’t even ship it, but I am interested in Zuko and Azula’s dynamic and sometimes that involves exploring the ways they were shaped by abuse and corruption that has trickled down familial generations, and sometimes that involves exploration of psychosexual themes that present themselves in these kinds of stories.

The real problem with most zucest fic is that it portrays Zuko as more dominant, when it would absolutely be the other way around.

don't feel the need to reply to this but THANK YOU so much for your ritsu meta, i always love reading when you post and even if i don't always agree 100% you have such amazing and insightful meta about mp100, especially ritsu. like ritsu as a character resonated with me SO MUCH and i could see myself in him and i actually like that he snapped because of all the pressure and loneliness he was under, because it felt so realistic to me. and i really do think that even if it's lighthearted, the fandom DOES mischaracterize him a lot and that he's not just emo or angsty or violent, and it's really depressing to see people depict ritsu as like... depressed, jealous, making stupid decisions, mean, etc ALL the time. it honestly gets super frustrating... i guess i just want to say that i really appreciate when people do take the time to analyze his character and see his good traits, and that i am really grateful to you for like, continuing to treat every mp100 character with respect

Every character in mp100 gets flanderized by the fandom from time to time, that will just happen with fandoms, and with mp100 it's an especially easy issue to fall into because... like. As that one post by scribe said, mp100's characters work on contradictions, and people aren't usually well versed in working with that. but with Ritsu, it does seem to paint him in a rather negative light, huh? Those aspects of his character do exist, but it does get frustrating when, as I've said before, they're the only ones people focus on to a surface level. I'm not gonna be the most coherent rn cause I hadn't been able to sleep all night (not related to anything, my sleep schedule's just fucked lmao), but I really feel you anon on that. I see a lot of myself and my sibling in Ritsu (and Mob), and so I guess that's why it sometimes hurts for me too - to see people dismissing him as just 'angry' and 'irrational', to see his struggles boiled down to him just being dramatic. I'm not gonna get into it, and I'm aware this is my own personal baggage to work through, but yeah.

I will say, though, I find the comments about how silly it is for Ritsu to be angsting over people 'complimenting him' especially funny 😭 bro you dont even know how much people lauding you over your sibling while you both are actually in extreme distress and can't actually communicate enough to help each other can fuck you up lmao

RWBY ReWatch Notes, part 2: how the hell did this get so long this was supposed to be quick and simple--

Starting a new post for Volume 2 because I apparently had a lot more to say about Volume 1 than I thought and I didn’t like how long the post was getting.

Mercury is so obnoxious in his introduction, lol.

Oh my god, the food fight!! 

I kind of miss RWBY having these low stakes, sort of slice of life episodes.

Also, Glynda storming in and righting the cafeteria in a single move is kinda scary strong. And kinda hot.

It’s kinda funny that they put Junior and the Malachite twins in the opening for Volume 2 but I don’t think they ever show up? Guess they just needed to pad the villain shots.

No, wait, they do show up, but they don’t really do anything. Their appearance is more cameo than anything else, lol.

Ah, yes. Ironwood. Glynda’s distaste for him is all too understandable now, lmao.

“Do you honestly believe your children can win a war?”

Hm. The conversation between Ozpin and Blake is a lot more interesting having seen the whole show. There’s the obvious angle that Ozpin was giving Blake the opportunity to tell him about the White Fang so that he could handle it. But I’m sure he also believed the White Fang were the “Queen’s” (Salem’s) pawns, and was hoping Blake was a thread he could follow into figuring out their next move.

Also, I know I said this in my liveblog but “They don’t know the White Fang like I do!” after you refused the one opportunity you had to teach someone in charge about the White Fang. Like, you can’t blame them for not knowing when the guy in charge is like “Hey, is there anything else you think I should know about?”

I will say, Blake’s VA is doing a fantastic job this episode though. 

“I love it when you’re feisty!” Yang says to Blake.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I love the very villainous drawl Cinder speaks in. This girl can’t say a single thing without sounding like she’s up to something.

And by love, I mean hate.

I know shipping is (or was?) a big thing in the RWBY fandom. I don’t ship anywhere near as much as I did when I was a tween, so there’s usually only about one or two ships that interest me in any given show. Arkos was that one for me in RWBY, and anything else fell into the “Yeah, that’s cute, I guess” category. But if I had to pick another ship, Ruby and Penny (Nuts and Dolts, i think?) would probably be the next one. They’re so sweet together.

Oh my god, I forgot about the fight scene in Painting the Town. Definitely one of my favorites. The road chase, the team attacks, the part when Die kicks in just as Yang gets up and starts kicking ass.

I don’t think Weiss uses that speed glyph nearly enough.

Clownie rolling out of the carnage of the robot is still the funniest thing to me.

Love that Jaune was having this private conversation with Ren with Nora in the room and the door wide open, lmao.

God, I love Yang. I don’t think I say that enough, but I love her so much. The scene with her and Blake is so beautiful. She’s gentle with Blake, relating to her on a personal level, but also firm when she needs to be to drive her point home.

Also, from Yang’s story. I imagine it’s more likely that Qrow just followed Yang and Ruby that whole time, rather than just happening to show up. So I assume he waited until they were in actual danger to show up because he felt like Yang needed to search on her own, regardless of what she’d find.

We were robbed of seeing Yang and Blake’s dance.

I kind of miss adult Ozpin, cryptic riddles and all.

I like how Ruby doesn’t question Jaune at all, just holds his punch like he said. and then sips it.

oh no, Pyrrha’s talk with Jaune is actually making me tear up

“You treated me just like anyone else.” Remembering how Pyrrha followed Jaune into the cave that was clearly marked to have a dangerous Grimm inside. It’s funny in the moment, but if Pyrrha had been with anyone else, that person probably would have expected Pyrrha to take the lead and find the relics. But because she was with Jaune, she was able to kind of sit back and just support him. Because he didn’t have any expectations of Pyrrha and her skill. (and also a bit of him feeling the need to prove his own skill)

Tai sent them Zwei to take care of for a few days because he wasn’t able to, but this fucking dog was packaged in a tube. I think he’ll survive just fine on his own for a few days.

The Vacuo students don’t have a uniform, that’s a neat detail.

Ironwood can’t help but feel like Ozpin is keeping him in the dark. A shame that he was right.

“You’re a good person, James. You’ve always done what you think is best for the people, even against strong protest. It’s admirable.” Oof. Love how this is worded, though. “What you think is best for the people.” There’s kind of no other way to move forward. There’s no way to know what’s best in the moment. The issue with Ironwood is the “against strong protest” part. Everyone else disagrees, but he’s gonna do what he wants regardless. That’s not how a leader should act.

These conversations are so fascinating now, knowing the full context of them.

Ohh, yes, the train fight. My favorite.

There has never been a moment in this show, before or after, as mind melting as Oobleck-- with no hesitation-- turning Zwei into a missle for just a moment.

I remember not liking Neo in the beginning, and I have no idea what changed, but I love her now.

I think it was how in control she seemed in every fight, and that irked me a lot. I’m usually not fond of characters like that, I like to see my characters struggle.

Like, compare Neo’s fight on the train, where she isn’t touched once, to Clownie’s fight, where he immediately gets rekted.

Damn, Weiss was kicking the White Fang guy’s ass, but it only took one hit from him to down her. Glass cannon, indeed.

Huh. I’ve never noticed before, but Neo’s eyes go completely grey when Raven shows up. She immediately leaves too, I guess realizing she was outmatched. Did she recognize who Raven is, or was she just able to read that Raven was way stronger than her?

Every part of the fight in the city is awesome, but when Team CVFY show up? *chefs kiss*

Coco is my queeeenn. She uses a heavy weapon like Yang and Nora, but it’s her goddamn purse.

Sooo... what did Cinder gain out of the train explosion? Just having Clownie arrested?

Also, the whole thing between Ozpin and Ironwood is fascinating, now having later context. Ozpin loses control of the Vytal festival and potentially his job as headmaster, all because of Ironwood’s “reports”. At the same time, Ironwood asks Ozpin to trust him, but we know that’s difficult for Ozpin to do because of his hundreds of years of working with people, and the many betrayals he’s likely had to endure. And this is yet another betrayal, cinching Ozpin’s ever shrinking ability to trust. But his inability to trust those around him fully is why others may turn on him, because there’s no transparency in his motives. And so, the cycle of mistrust and betrayal continues, the ouroboros eating it’s own tail.

Anyway, on to Volume 3!

As for the name, I think I’ll go with 📖 anon or whatever tag you want to use. I am assuming you get a lot of anons regarding discourse so I don’t want to club myself with them.

I can totally understand your frustration regarding the lack of knowledge the general audience may have about The Sharmas. It’s frustrating when you know so much about something but cannot let it all out, especially to strangers on the internet. I have been in similar situations, and I am sorry if my ask ever made you feel that way.

I have definitely seen the word racist be thrown around quite carelessly with unclear implications, with the most recent instance being yesterday. I won’t go into the details of what was said, because maybe the person is your mutual and I don’t wish to involve you in any drama. (You may have, perhaps already seen something about it on your dash). But the words were hurtful and they invalidated my experience as a desi person watching the show. I know people can be quite vitriolic on both sides of the discourse, and it’s sad. But that’s the truth of fandom spaces - discourse is inevitable and I don’t have any ideas on what to do about it, lol.

Funny thing is, I never use to tag things AT ALL before I start running this blog. Hell I wouldn't even link previous posts but then I started getting more related asks and it seemed logical to give context. The Emojis started recently though and they are so fun! I think only Jett and Ring Anon have come back to my asks a few times lol. I think its cool to know where they all stand on different topics instead of me assuming every anon is a different person because Uhhh that's like over 140 (I think that's how many asks I've answered since March?) people who have been talking to me and that's a daunting thought oop.

That was a fun tangent but let's get into the meat of this post!

And oh, if I could I would scream about the Book Sharmas all day but I'm not that unhinged lmao. Instead I will passive aggressively hype them and their book scenes up (I did it here also wanna make some edits with the book scene quotes tacked onto S2's scenes at some point) Also want to reassure you that you did not make me feel that way at all! It was nice to have people who like flawed Sharmas' fics to be civil and open to discussion - it was a good change from the usual drama on my dash ahahah.

Tell me about it, the invalidation in this fandom is INSANE sometimes, I mean I'll admit sometimes I am a little guilty of it but its in the name of invalidating bigots who should be drowned out because we do not need this energy here. I do hope you're feeling better now and the words didn't get to you <3 I know I said spill the tea but if you don't want to give yourself away and get involved in the drama, I totally understand! Zelda OC #1 - Kamia + Serachiiya

I was never into Zelda much as a child, despite owning both Oracle games as well as LttP+FSA (but not playing the latter as much since I had no friends with which to play kdjfhg). But during sixth grade (around 2008), my friend showed me her drawings of a character she made for the series - a silver dragon who was created to be a guardian for Link - as well as a series of silly random stick-figure comics about the Triforce trio she drew in her notebook. She told me about the games she owned, and related to my minimal knowledge that I only obtained via old flash animations and playing Smash Bros Melee. I knew Zelda and Link were the good guys, Zelda and Sheik were the same person, and Ganondorf was evil, but that was about all I knew.

And so I was like “wow, I wanna get in on this!” So I started drawing little comics too, and eventually came up with a character of my own. The idea for this character came purely from watching the aforementioned flash animations, one of which featured Saria. I had no idea who she was, but she was cute and green and that was enough for me to look up pics of her and draw my inspiration from there. And thus, Kamia and her fairy Serachiiya were born.

Kamia was Discount Saria. Actually, maybe more like Bad Bootleg Saria. Her name was Saria’s but with two letters changed. Her outfit was almost identical to other Kokiri girls’ (though I never specified what race she was). She had her own fairy with a name that is so ungodly Japanese-sounding but is absolutely not Japanese. And because I was an 11-year-old in 2008, which meant I was not anywhere near as well-read and oddly mature as some 11-year-olds I've seen today are, Kamia had zero characterization and her only personality trait was "nice and polite, until you piss her off." Which is true of many preteens' OCs across just about every fandom. Very cookie-cutter.

Serachiiya, on the other hand, was a bitch. That's it. Her personality was laced with sarcasm, a short fuse, and the worst cuss word I could get away with at 11 (hell). I think the main reason I made her was to give Kamia a problem to continuously interact with, which is usually not a good reason to create a character kskjdfg. In fact, in this comic, Kamia reacts to one of Serachiiya's nasty quips by... throwing a rock at her. Because when you have a fairy whose canonical job is to protect you, your first instinct should always be to physically assault them when they are sassy. (To be fair, I did not know that fairies were guardians in canon. I only saw them as like... funny little friends. and you're totally allowed to have funny little friends throw stuff at each other for comedic effect.)

In addition, because I knew nothing of the series proper, any time I had these two interact with canon characters, they were naturally incredibly OOC. The person who says "Excuse me!" in this image right here is actually Princess Zelda herself, but because I am incredibly ashamed of how poorly I butchered her appearance (and character) in this comic, I will spare your eyes and not show her. Zelda, for some reason, asks the two of them for "directions to Hyrule." You know. The entire country that they're in already. That Zelda literally runs. Because that makes sense. (And I know exactly why I wrote that, too - at the time, Hyrule was the only location in the Zeldaverse that I knew by name, so I used it liberally 😂)

Surprisingly, I did not ship her with Link like any OOT-era fangirl would do. I did think he was cute, but I don't ever remember having plans for her and Link to interact. Even more surprisingly, this comic is literally the only thing I have in my possession that shows Kamia and Serachiiya when I originally made them. I've redrawn them several times since then, both for nostalgia purposes and to show how bland and bad they were as characters. But 11-year-old Marshy, as far as I know, did not write or draw anything else about these two beyond this singular comic. I wish she did, because I would have loved more adorable and cringe material, but alas, that's all she wrote.

Despite never coloring the two of them, nor drawing Kamia below the waist, I do very much remember what the clothes and colors were in my head - and given who she's ripped off of, I'll give you three guesses and the first two don't count.

9. last movie you watched: I rewatched 'Murder by Death' for the first time in many years. There's a few actors I love in that movie but... it hasn't aged too well imho.

10. free space!: Watch BBC Ghosts if you haven't yet! The last season comes out later this year, it's a wonderful show (truly funny and wholesome) and the fandom is *lovely*. That's it, that's what I'm using the free space for, you'll thank me later.

11. last show: I'm currently jumping between several (very different) shows, but the last episode I watched was 'The Thick of It' 3x01

17. why i chose my url?: When I watched the first season of The White Lotus I fell in love with Armond (Murray Bartlett's character) and the [SPOILER] tragic trainwreck of sorts that he goes throughout the season [END OF SPOILER]. The whole introductory scene to Armond and The White Lotus resort has him telling Lani, a new trainee, that the White Lotus experience is nothing more than ���tropical Kabuki,” with the staff serving as “pleasant interchangeable players”. I thought it was brilliant and so funny and for some reason my immediate thought was that it would make for a great social media username. So that's exactly what I used it for a few days later, when I was picking a url for this blog. I've ended up using it in a couple other places, too.

19. followers: 16. I'm not very active in here so I'm thankful for every person that follows me despite of that.
