did i lose my train of thought when talking about that? well theyre DOGSHIT plastic yoyos with ZERO customization options and no easy way to replace the string and if you take them apart to fix any issues with them they never go back together the same way. it sucks ass!

I keep wanting to describe the past month as 'up and down,' but there haven't really been 'ups' so much as just recovery from the downs. I'm grateful for that, but a proper win would be nice.

Yoyo. Chloe Frazer gets into yoyos. Trying to learn the tricks. Yoyoing in the shower with her hand outside the curtain, yoyoing at the grocery store, standing on top of a huge ancient tower and dropping the yoyo and the string doesn’t run out and the yoyo goes all the way down to where a bewildered Nadine is waiting because the yoyo is magic. She no longer needs a grappling hook

One of tbe brilliant things about mlp:fim is that the main cast aren't wayward children or highschool students they're just a bunch of young adults. Like. Twilight is a postgrad forced by her supervisor to go find friends. Apple Jack has responsibility of gaurdianship of her little sister. They're all employed. They pay rent and taxes. Fluttershy has to deal with her deadbeat underachiever older brother who can't seem to move out by himself when she visits her parents. She also has anxiety she hasnt grown out of since high school. Rainbow Dash spends most days getting high and goofing off on her minimum wage job. Pinkie Pie has a culinary apprenticeship and lives with an older couple after she left her small mining town when nobody there was as into psychadelics as her. Rarity balances running her slowly growing etsy fashion bussiness with going on tinder dates with the worst men you've ever seen. They all vote. They have to pick up their own medical perscriptions. These are 26 year old girlies going through first quarter life crisises. So, yea, that fanart of Fluttershy smoking forever weed is highly accurate.

A Bag of Yo-Yos

I was finally working on cleaning up my office/craft room the other day and ran across a bag of yo-yos. Not the toy kind of yo-yos but the fabric kind. I somehow ended up with a package that my mom was working on and boy oh boy –did it remind me of all the things. Do you remember all the things that these cute little things were used for? Quilts, pillows, clothing, crafty items like Christmas…

I'm gonna start lying about yoyos I think. Did you know yoyos were originally created as an entangling weapon? They are named after the duchy of Yoyo in modern-day Romania, because Duke Andrei of Yoyo was the first person of note to use yoyos in medieval Europe? However, the creation of the yoyo can be traced back to classical China. The Chinese name for the original weaponized designs translates roughly to spinning spider, a reference to the way they would wrap up enemies in combat. The original yoyos were built with heavy stone bodies and thin metal cables for strings.

Yoyos fell out of favor with the mass adoption of firearms. The modern yoyo as a toy was invented in Germany in the 1920s by Johann Sebastian Hersch. However, it only took off in popularity when Hersch immigrated to the US, where he cooperated with Mattel through the 1930s to mass produce yoyos. American GIs in WWII would spread the modern yoyo across the world, making Hirsch fabulously wealthy. Sadly he would lose most of his money trying to invent the me-me. He died a man of modest means in 1967, surrounded by family, due to a self-inflicted yoyo injury. His research notes were buried with him, as was the fashion at the time.
