Omg do you have any other Kanda/Daisya headcanons?? They’re such a Pandora’s box to me 😭 I didn’t even think about them until I saw ppl on here talking about it and now it’s too late!!! I’m just thinking about them all the time 💜💙

this ship is… a fascinating child to me. A half-crack fic idea came to me at work a few weeks ago, thinking about how Daisya’s character design almost looks like an early concept of Alma*, and it just spiraled. Fic pending (also it’s more yulma angst than kandai, but i’m trying—their relationship is actually the hardest thing for me to write)

*i know that, conceptually speaking, Daisya existed before Alma, but yk what I mean

also, as an aro/ace with no relationship experience, I’m not really a fluff writer to begin with; but I also project hc Kanda as aro/ace, so none of these are gonna be too romantic oops. They were fun to think up though!

— They never labeled themselves as being “in a relationship” but they were “exclusive”, if that makes sense

— Daisya would always tell Kanda how they should go to Bodrum on holiday. Kanda can’t imagine ever getting a break, and would therefore be dismissive of the suggestion; but he secretly was really looking forward to it.

— Daisya also promised to teach Kanda how to swim when they went

— When out on missions with Daisya, Kanda always tries to steal and hide Charity Bell (when they’re not fighting, duh) otherwise Daisya will bother him with it

— Daisya was always Kanda’s favourite sparring partner because he uses a long-range weapon (Lenalee is close range and Marie would always go easy on him) and was thus (in Kanda’s opinion) the most suitable opponent to practice fighting akuma

— Daisya is physically pretty weak, and Kanda would make fun of him for it; but Kanda would also always drag him to hand-to-hand training to help him not rely so much on his innocence

— Kanda beat Daisya at Backgammon ONCE and wouldn’t shut up about it for weeks. (Daisya beat him hundreds of times…and may or may not have let Kanda win that one time) this is not me projecting the fact that I have tried to learn how to play this game multiple times and honestly understand the rules less and less each time

— Daisya once tried to sneak some seasoning into Kanda’s soba… Daisya wound up in the infirmary for three days (Kanda felt a little bad)

— Even though Kanda hates sweets, Daisya tricked him into trying Baklava during a job in Greece once, and Kanda actually enjoyed it

— They once tried making some together… Jerry banned them from the kitchen

— Kanda was Daisya's first kiss; Kanda considers it his first kiss too

(I know it's played as a joke, and the light novels are more canon-adjacent than expressly canon, but I think we need to acknowledge the questionable implications of a 40(?) year old kissing a 1(3) year old -- even if he was inebriated)

Kanda grit his teeth, hearing the tension in his jaw as he pushed another tree branch out of the way. They’d been walking for hours in the woods after eradicating the akuma they were chasing. But the fight had them so turned around, he wasn’t sure where the town was—or even a road.

“You saying ‘we’re lost’ is not helping us find our way back to town.”

“Aha!” Alma announced triumphantly as he followed the path Kanda cleared through the undergrowth. “So, you do admit it!” Kanda rolled his eyes. “Alma, not now,” he snapped.

I really love this fic, and it's probably my second favorite fic that I've written at the moment. I feel like I really pushed myself with this fic, especially the premise, which I was very unsure about going about. But it was because of my wonderful beta reader and art inspiration from the amazing @shiroyamaberserk that I was able to pull through and start and finish this fic within the span of a week, the fastest I've ever written a fic. Writing from Locus' pov was really fun and I liked describing Griffith from his perspective, it's something that just gradually came to me that continued to be built as more and more words appeared on my doc.

Take Me to the Poppy Field

This was the second fic I ever wrote so I was coming off the high of publishing my first and diving right into not only a different fandom but a ship with the most minuscule community. Cross Marian is an absolute enigma and it's a miracle that I was able to type up 2.2k words of his pov because having reread the D.Gray-Man manga recently, I can't fathom how I thought that I had the capability of writing from inside his mind. I'm really proud of my dialogue with this fic in particular, I tried really hard to write more dialogue instead of description and for what it is, I think I did good.

Encompassing Lust

Encompassing Lust my beloved, where do I even begin? This was the first fic I ever wrote and the only fic I have so far that has any kind of sexual content. I don't really remember what compelled me to make this fic, only that I was feeling very strongly about Slan and Danann kissing each other because I thought they'd look good together. It took me a while to scrape together something for my fantastic beta reader @beansterpie to work with and even after I published it, I ended up completely revising it three months later because of how unsatisfied I was. I was able to develop a much stronger voice for Dannan during that time and I changed her and Slan's interactions to interactions that I didn't deem too ooc. I say this like it's not the most random Berserk crackship to exist. As I look back on the fic over a year later, all I can say is "Yeah, I did that". I turned the sex demon into an even hornier sapphic for the skeleton man's fairy girlfriend.

One of Heart, One of Mind

As of now, this fic is my favorite fic I've ever written. Yulma is a ship that I feel so strongly about and they're the first ship that I've consistently shipped for years, so writing this fic was a very daunting task. I really wanted to do them right, and being the perfectionist that I am, I was bugging @shiroganeryo for months about my ideas, anxieties, and overall love for Kanda and Alma. In rereading/rewatching the Artificial Exorcist arc multiple times to familiarize myself with their canon selves again, I gained a newfound appreciation for Hoshino's storytelling abilities. She really knows how to make a girl cry. I feel like this fic is very reflective of the writer that I am now and I can only hope that I continue to grow. Comparing this to Encompassing Lust makes me feel so many things, all positive of course.

A Familiar Canvas

A Familiar Canvas is my fic of all fics. It's my most kudo'd, most commented, and second-highest hit counted fics. It's a fic that I had come up on the fly for GriffGuts Weekend 2022 and the first fic I've written that had a "due date". I learned a lot about myself during the nearly two and a half months I took to write this fic. One, I'm awful at writing on a time crunch, and two, I really like writing Griffith's dialogue. He was actually easier to write than Guts if you could believe it. It's usually the other way around for my friends. I don't know how it got so much traction over the months but I welcome it all.

Sorry about that! Sometimes the pages don't load on mobile. But here are the rules for what is and is not considered a rare pair.

What is a rare pair:

Rare pairs include any pairing that does not appear on the AO3 auto-fill for Relationship selection in the Sort and Filter option. (AKA, not a popular ship).

What is not a rare pair:

Yullen (Kanda x Allen) Laven (Lavi x Allen) Yuuvi or Laviyuu (Kanda x Lavi) LaviLena (Lavi x Lenalee) Poker Pair (Allen x Tyki) Pieshipping (Allen x Link) Yulma (Kanda x Alma) Lucky (Lavi x Tyki) AlLena (Allen x Lenalee)

Also, it's important to note that ALL OT3+ ships are considered rare pairs, even if the combined ships are "popular".

Example: Laven, Yullen, and LaviYuu are not allowed for Rare Pair Week, as they are popular ships. But Lavi x Allen x Kanda is allowed, because the ship isn't actually popular. If you're looking for a specific OT3 material, it's hard to find (hence, it's considered a rarepair).

Basically, as long as the ship isn't on the list above, you're free to create for it. I hope this makes sense. If you still have questions, please let me know! And I'm excited to see what you will create for the event!
